A flower shop could be overwhelming, the perfectionist in him who needed to match every situation and setting perfectly struggled to pick a color palette, to think up a good outfit that worked. It was winter outside, so wool felt right, but flowers meant warmth, linen, light cotton layers, pastels or white. All of that cycled through Felix’s thoughts as he appeared just outside the door. None of it mattered. As he stepped inside, heard that silly little bell above the door for the first time in what felt like years, his body gave up, that immediate hit of familiarity and safety.

Creased, rolled up at the sleeves, utilitarian. A light stone grey uniform with the insignia of a fae court. Nothing he’d be seen in regularly, but it took all his will to hold onto his other glamours, the clothes hurt to drop, a part of him that Felix worked so hard to maintain, that he prized, but a necessary sacrifice for any semblance of control.

“Well, Kitten, you haven’t changed a bit.” A practiced smug grin settled over his face as Felix sauntered across the store floor, stopping to check out a flower that caught his eye. Briefly, his suit tried to shift colors to match the deep mulberry purple, only managing an off-putting shade of puce before oozing back to grey.  

Dull blue eyes finally deigned to look at Robin, to actually take the other man in, staring for too long, remembering, needing to remember him again just in case. All built up in his head over the year, not once stopping to think about how it had been for Robin, just gone one day. No word, no information. He assumed Valentine had good sense to fill Robin in, but there was no way to know. Despite it all, despite the time, Robin was still Robin. Different, sure, everyone would be after that time, but Robin. “Miss me?”

When Ka'anh awakes, the first thing he sees is a planet, filled with blue and greens and browns, clouds scattered along the surface. He also realizes that the whole of his shuttle seems to be offline; No lights are on besides the dull red hue of what indicates an emergency situation. He hurts, badly so, and groans out in pain as he tries to get back onto his feet, tries to---

The shuttle's pulled toward the planet, he realizes, just as he tries to reach a few buttons with his bloody fingers. He can't even stand, he just lies there, with his upper half resting against the seat, arm outstretched in an attempt to fix what could be broken. Ka'anh hisses, bares his teeth, grunts as another wave of pain pushes through him while he tries to stand again - but then the shuttle shakes; Gravitation has finally wrapped itself around his vessel in full, and now the descent upon the foreign planet is sped up with each second that passes.

This will become a hell of a ride, he knows. There's nothing he can do besides holding onto something, pushing himself against a nearby wall, away from anything that could fall down onto him as the shuttle proceeds to fly through the thick atmosphere. It's probably getting too hot as well, with all the shields being offline, unable to protect the shell from the rough treatment of the sudden friction it receives.

The fall itself sends a stomach tumbling and Ka'anh grits his teeth, squeezes his eyes shut, hoping that it will soon be over and that he will survive the impact thats about to come.

He doesn't want to die like this. Not after having managed to flee from his own planet, then getting sucked into what had looked like an opening within the Universe itself, just to be thrown down onto another world he's unfamilair with---

He's afraid, that's the last thing he feels before everything becomes dark and his senses vanish from existence, together with his consciousness.

When he awakes again, he's unsure if he's even alive, still.

He's lying on his stomach, outside of his shuttle, with his face buried in dry soil; With every intake of air he inhales some of it, which causes Ka'anh to cough and gasp for oxygen, so he does, almost dry-heaving from the pain it causes him.

He blinks, lifts his head somewhat and looks at a blurry picture in front of him - a mass of gray, perhaps it's his shuttle, parts of it burning and smoke rising into the air. He cannot see clearly, he doesn't hear much, and the pain he's in is excruciating. He's surely broken his right leg, his hip even, because he cannot feel it - his rattling breath tells him at least one broken rip has broken the tissue of his lung, and judged by how dizzy he feels, he must be suffering from what could be a rather serious brain-injury.

But, Ka'anh's alive. he's still here, even though he's just crashed down onto this foreign planet.

A grunt leaves him and he closes his eyes, then inhales as much as he can before he tries to push himself up onto all-fours. There's blood soaked into the dirt beneath him and one of his arms is definitely broken, next to the right leg that won't cooperate... but somehow he keeps himself in this all-fours-position, swallowing down the taste of copper and nausea he feels.

Fuck. Fuck - he needs to get to his shuttle, find the medkit in there---...

It had actually meant to be a day off work. But unfortunately, something had come up with Paul, and James had asked Russell if he could come in to man the cafe. Overtime had been promised and Russell knew James would have felt bad if he didn't accept that part, so he had come in.

Things seemed to be looking up a little. Apparently Antonio had known of some abandoned sports club they could use as a makeshift base, Rook now knew for certain that attacking Bill hadn't been of her own volition, and of course, from what he heard, Antonio was having his fun tormenting the gadget user. The ride to work (he hadn't been about to walk at the moment, given what had been going on) and even his shift for most of the day had also gone on with relatively little fanfare.

That made his heart only sink that much further than usual when he saw two very familiar people entering the cafe.

Crap...

Those twin mercenaries; the two who had helped kidnap him and take him to that poison guy (Five; that was he called himself, he had to remember that). He had no idea if they specifically came to try and find out about the gadget user or if they were just through coincidence, but right now, he had to act normal.

"H-hey there, sirs. What, what can I, what can I get, get you today?"

There were perks to being a library admin. Even though he was on a scheduled leave, Antonio had decided it best to pay a visit, just in case he could get any leads on who was possibly connected to Lucien's attacker and Russell's kidnapper. The more people they knew about, the better.

So if anyone had been doing research about non-humans in the library, he had come to find that. He did feel a little bad about letting down the children there who had been excited to see 'Uncle Tony' and had wanted him to read to them. But he promised he would be back to do so very soon.

At the moment, staying out longer than necessary was a risk, especially when he was alone, and he didn't want to worry Rook too much by being in danger more than he needed to be.

But after getting some names and borrowed/return records written down, he was satisfied and moved to head out after tucking the notes away in his pocket, making sure to put on the new shades he had ordered back over his eyes.

As he already started to step away from the entrance, he began to get an awful feeling that he was being watched.

It was probably a stupid idea to venture out. But the man who had recently attacked them was still most likely recovering from their combined counterassault (and Bill biting him and making him bleed a lot), and the poison resistance balm that Leofric and Veronica had working on had been completed.

It seemed that things were looking up just a little bit. From updates, Rook seemed to be progressing well with the treatments, Bill was no longer looking like hell, Erica was doing just fine after that fight, and Leofric's eyes had fully recovered, even if he still needed some time to heal completely.

So even Russell felt okay to go out when Lucien talked about getting a bubble tea. He needed to pick up a few small groceries anyway, and the fresh air and the moonlight would probably would do them a bit of good. So after applying some of the balm to his face, neck, and hands, it had been time to set off for that small excursion.

"So if, if you feel there's, there's any trouble brewing," Russell said then, when he finally saw the shop entrance, "Not, not that I think there will, there will be today, all we, we gotta do is shout. Shop's small so, so it's not like we, we won't hear each other."

He had decided to bring Lewis with him, just in case. But he was fairly confident he wouldn't need to use him.
