What does orchid mean though?

An orchid person experiences the attraction, but doesn't desire the relationship or the action in real life. Some may say it's "allo through an aspec" lense.

You could be orchid if:

As I just mentioned, you experience the attraction, but don't desire the relationship

You don't desire a relationship in the traditional sense and only prefer it in scenarios

You are sex- or romance-repulsed even if you do experience the attraction

You feel attraction, but disconnected from yourself (this can also fall under the aego umbrella)

Ok, so I’m going to make a post about my abrospec questing because I’m trying to explore it but am having trouble figuring out what label fits me best. And, yes, I understand that I don’t have to use any specific label, I just want to look at what’s out there.

So, usually I feel like I’m on the multispectrum, and my romantic attraction is almost always mspec in some way, like bi, pan, poly or omni, or even just multiromantic, while my sexual attraction can fluctuate into the monospec spectrum as well, and sometimes I’m mostly sapphic or mostly achillean and have a connection to the terms lesbian and veldian. Usually I feel somewhere on the aroace spectrum and never feel fully alloromantic or allosexual. I also am fluid between aspec orientations, like demiaroace, repciroace, greyroace, cupiorose, and orchidrose.

My tertiary attractions are also usually aspec, except for my aesthetic attraction. I am very much alloaesthetic. My aesthetic attraction is actually stronger than most alloaesthetics tbh. Is there a label for really strong, queer aesthetic attraction, now that I’m mentioning it? My aesthetic attraction tends to fluctuate along with my sexual attraction but feels for on the pan-bi-omni spectrum. My other attractions tend to fluctuate between different aspec orientations, between pan and omni, and between sapphic and achillean.

My attraction can also fluctuate with my gender to be queer in some way, like nblm/mlm towards men or queer wlm towards men, nblnb, and nblm/wlw or queer mlw. I tend to feel same gender attraction though, but at times it does feel like queer different gender attraction. But, my attraction is always queer in some way.

Sounds like you might be describing orchidsexual (link is for orchidrose, so just replace 'romantic and sexual attraction' w just 'sexual')? Maybe also check out lithosexual and cupiosexual. Greysexual (when one is acespec but feels like some of their experiences can't be fully described by asexuality) or just acespec might also be what you're looking for.

Pygmalionism part 1

(So, I really love the actor Paul Dano and I watched Ruby Sparks for the first time the other day. You don’t need to have seen the movie to understand this post, but it did sew together separate thoughts I had already, so to speak.)

All my auto followers are different and unique people, and all auto people in general are different and unique people, as all people are, so I’m not really sure whether this is a common experience or not.

I have seen this sort of thing mentioned before though, and since this blog is about my experience as well as conversations about autosexuromanticism and my posts are informed by my experience, I figured I might as well start in on something I experience.

So, in my intro post I mentioned that I am objectum-sexuromantic. In my post about how to deal with feelings of weirdness surrounding being auto and my post about shame and love, I mentioned that I am also attracted, romantically and sexually, to fictional characters, whether mine or not.

I am autistic, which means I have a much more likely chance of feeling that objects have sentience (POSIC) but I do not. I do have my moments of imagining objects or otherwise inanimate things being sentient but it is a conscious choice to imagine this on my part and I do not have any belief that objects do have sentience.

I have, in fact, had some relationships with objects before but I neglect to call those objects my exes and I don’t really consider myself to have dated them because I feel as though I was forcing myself to perceive something I did not perceive and those objects being sentient was wishful thinking.

I was aware of objectum-sexuromanticism young and I never considered that I might not be POSIC. I thought that that was just the way it was, that if you’re objectum, you’re POSIC as well.

But my relationships I have had (two, one with a teddy bear named Thomas and a rock named Melody) were still full of love and I am glad for them. One thing they taught me was that I don’t feel any sort of sentience in objects, and that is totally okay.

Actually, I realized it is rather a good thing that I don’t because I realized that I would be much, much happier in a relationship with an object if I accepted that they were NOT sentient.

I prefer a inanimate object partner because I do not have to worry about mixed signals. It’s really the same as if I were with a person, I worry about my own behavior messing things up.

I have seen a lot of people over the years lamenting that their fictional crush isn’t 'real', as in, doesn’t exist in our physical reality as we do. In other words, they are, well, a character. Doubly do people (fictosexuromantics) who are in love with a fictional character wish they were real.

But I, on the other hand, thank god they are not real, as I would lose all interest in my fictional beaus if they were. The whole reason I am more attracted to characters than people is because they are not real.

And as it so happens, I am more attracted to characters that I have made myself than characters who are not mine. So far, I have not been able to fall in love with a character I have not created myself.

As I discussed in my post on shame and love (again), I am orchidrose (I guess) and so I do not desire to be in romantic relationships or have sex with the people I am romantically/sexually attracted to.

I find that this facet of my orientation is all because of my autosexuromanticism (and my social phobia of course).

I already said I prefer fiction to reality, and indeed, sentience is because there is no room for autistic social error, but I also know that my relationships with others have not as of yet, but too cannot, reach the connection I have with myself.

Through these things, objectum-sexuromanticism and fictosexuromanticism, compared to my relationships with people all my life, I've learned that I am most attracted by that which is imbued with my will (objects and characters) and that with people, there is a barrier of desire that I cannot cross. Not only do I feel significantly less attraction, I have absolutely no romantic/sexual desire for them at all.

Beyond my fear of messing things up, beyond the confusion and dread and lostness I feel, and the emotional exhaustion of socialization and expectations and demands, I just have no interest in it. It’s not appealing to me.

Orchidrose has always been seen as an outcast in her Clan. She’s more of an observer of the ins and outs of Clan life, rarely talking with anyone and keeping to themselves. Orchidrose had a troubling kithood, as she was deeply traumatized by losing their mentor in battle. The scar on her shoulder reminds them of the tragedy, never truly healing from it. But life goes on, and Orchidrose felt comforted by the companionship of her closest friend Buttercupheart, so much so that the two fell in love. They would never admit it, but their mate means a lot to them. Buttercupheart is the only cat Orchidrose is comfortable having physical contact with, and she’s proud of his accomplishments. As a mother, they’re very protective of their kits, and has big hopes for them as well. Orchidrose knows she was never able to reach her full potential do to many obstacles in her path, but they will do whatever they can to ensure their kits will.
