OK SO HERE'S THE RUB. I think that as it currently is, the base uniform for hope's peak looks boring as shit to me. like. yes. it is very customizable and versatile and when they DO stuff with it then it usually looks great. BUT for such a prestigious school I think there could be just a tiny bit more flare to it. So before making any design I made some changes to the hope's peak emblem itself. The design is fine on its own, but I thought it could add to it if i gave it a couple of colour variants, so this is what I came up with!

Each variation belongs to a specific group, with the coloured versions belonging to the student groups. For the sake of this were just gonna focus on the student emblems so like. ignore the other 2. Here are the uniforms themself!

I wanted to give a BUNCH of options that range from totally normal to. fashion crime territory if you arent careful. The solid orange options are by far the least popular ones, and the reserve course is really just hung out to dry, unless you want orange pants with a black blazer. I imagine that there are so many pieces because not only can hope's peak afford it, but they have had this consistent issue for years where the one thing they just cannot keep straight is a dress code. So as a result, they allow students to mix and match all they want, so long as they're wearing the emblem to SOME extent. try as they might, they can't enforce the school colours as much as theyd like to.

More Minecraft ideas, what part of Minecraft needs improvement?

You're wrong, it's ponds.

Ponds, lakes, lava pools. They all suck in Minecraft, they end up just being big holes in the ground with nothing interesting about them that make the landscape ugly and hole ridden

Now you might say “Ivy, literally no one cares” and to that I say, wheesht and accept my ramblings ya donut

So, how do we fix Ponds? It's simply really: make ponds generated structures.

Ponds would now be generated structures taking up one chunk, with an actual human made design to make them, you know, look good. There would be, say, 100 or so different designs to stop them looking to samey (they'd be so small that something like that would be feasible)

Lakes would be done similarly, only with the key difference, they would be made up of 4 chunk “cells”, each making up a corner of the lake.

ponds and lakes in plains or forest biomes would be made of blocks like mud and dirt.

Ponds and lakes in deserts (or oases if you want) would be made up of grass and sand

Ponds and lakes in tundras would be frozen over on the top layer of the water and with clay spawning around the water

Now, let's see some things that can be found in ponds and lakes:

Frogs

Nothing new here, frogs and frogspawn are most common ponds, pond frogs also only come in the green frog varietie.

Perhaps the oasis can have a desert rain frog variant that gives a purple frog light

Toads

Toads and toad spawn can be found in lakes and ponds in forest and plains biomes. Toads emerge from toad spawn in the same way frogs do. Toads have an exaggerated size, being double the size of the frog

Toads come in several colours (Green, Brown, Yellow, Orange and Lime) but these colours do not harbour any game mechanics (in other words: sorry but there are no toadlights)

Toads will eat all mobs with wings, that being the Parrot, Chicken, Phantom, Bat, Bee and the player if they are wearing an elytra, so watch out.

All the aforementioned mobs are scared of Toads, making them and effective deterrent to phantoms in particular

Cattails, Reeds, Rice, Algae and Papyrus

I'll just do all the plant life stuff at once (these will generate dependent on the pond or lake cell)

Algae is a new decorative blocks that can be placed on water

It will connect to other blocks, creating an unbroken surface across the water

Algae has a bright green hue and can be found in both ponds and lakes with the same frequency

Papyrus is a new plant that spawns naturally in the oasis, it is used as a more efficient way of making paper as it can be bonemealed and only one papyrus is needed to make paper

Rice is a plant that grows in water in lakes and ponds spawning in cherry groves.

Rice can be used in two recipes:

Rice Bowls:Putting rice, a bowl and any meat together will craft a rice bowl

This food source that can be eaten twice, eating the meat and then the rice

Sushi: putting rice, dried kelp and one fish into a crafting table creates Sushi, a foodsoarch that can be eaten instantly without playing the eating animation, not very nutritious but good in a pinch

Cattails are a purely decorative plant found in ponds and swamps

Reeds are more common around rivers and lakes, being a fern like plant that grows two tall.

Reeds can be used to craft a new item: Pan Pipes

Combining 3 reeds and 3 string will create pan pipes, these can be played to draw passive mobs towards you so long as the button to play them is held down.

Pan Pipes can also calm neutral mobs like wolves, iron golems and bees, but doing this instantly focus the Pan pipes into cool down

Pan pipes have a cool down double that of the Goat Horn

Bagpipes

By putting Pan Pipes, 3 iron nuggets, 3 red wool and 3 green wool together you can make Bagpipes.

Bagpipes have durability on top of having the same level of cool down as Pan Pipes. Bagpipes cannot be enchanted.

Bagpipes have the ability to PERMANENTLY pacify all hostile mobs in the chunk the player is in.

Bagpipes will break after 10 or so uses

Willow and Palm

Willow and palm are new wood types, Willow spawns around lakes and ponds and Palm spawns around oases.

Willow has a dark Bluish-green colour, complementing mangrove, where as Palm is a desaturated pale white

As the knife reached the bottom of the mooncake, I can see the orange-coloured oil from the salted egg yolk staining the kitchen towel. A sign that the yolk is properly prepared and not dried out. The glistening yolks are a uniform orange and the lotus paste smooth looking with a thin crust around it. The lotus paste is smooth and velvety with gentle sweetness while the lightly salty yolk crumbled and melted away in the mouth. Overall, it is a nice snack to pair with my cup of less sweet milk tea.

By the first week into October, Natsu had managed to change his temper completely. Lucy wasn’t surprised – she had seen it before, after all. But it happened, and she was as impressed as she had been the first time she saw it. Natsu was the most energetic, crazy and loving person she knew. He ran around going on missions, planning elaborate pranks, he talked loudly, and he fought at every change – and he always dragged Lucy along to play. She loved this side of him. He gave her energy, his happiness spread to her like wildfire – ironic, considering that he’s a fire mage. 

So, when the leaves on the trees became orange, red and yellow, she was surprised every time she saw his energy mellow out slightly. He still acted roughly the same, and he did what he usually did: missions, pranks, fights and hanging out with Lucy, but now with less of that extra stuff – shaking his legs, poking her thighs under the table to annoy her, carelessly interrupting people when they were speaking. She notices him taking the occasional pause whenever they’re outside, to take in the rapidly changing view and to take deep, calming breaths of the smell of rain and decaying leaves. It was clear as day: he really liked autumn. 

“Whatcha doing?” Natsu was surprised to see Lucy digging around in the flowerpots at her apartment complex’s entrance.

“Huh?” Lucy looked up. She hadn’t been expecting him to arrive just yet. They agreed earlier today to hang out, but since Natsu had to stop by the tailor she thought she would have time to prepare the flower pots for winter. She usually did this early in the morning, so Natsu didn’t know she was the one fixing the nice flower beds every spring, or that she was the one who cleared them when they died. 

“Oh I’m just doing some chores, you go ahead and make yourself comfortable inside,” Lucy encouraged, waving her tiny shovel. Natsu squatted down beside her, still visibly confused.

“Why are you digging everythin’ out?” Lucy was taken slightly off guard with this unexpected interest. After all, she was only digging dirt in a pot, nothing he would be interested in normally. But then again, he was quite on theme with his newfound tranquillity.

“I’m really only making space for new things to grow, I was thinking that I’d like to plant azaleas next year,” she told him.

“Are azaleas flowers?”

“Yeah, I’ll show you a picture when we go inside – I’m almost done anyway.”

Natsu waited patiently. He couldn’t help but wonder how those flowers would look – would they be some sort of flamey variant, or would they be cute and fluffy? Or maybe those were the wrong sort of words to use to describe flowers. Round or sharp petals? Thorns or no thorns? And then which colour? Could they pick and decide that themselves? Or had Lucy already picked? He was surprisingly interested – uncharacteristically so, even he was aware of that.

Lucy almost worked up a sweat, Natsu observed, taking his time to soak up the details. Her hair looked soft and light from the sunny summer, but her tan had started to fade. She was wearing gloves, the ones with a little pink detail, and her jacket was on the thicker side. Maybe that’s why she was getting hot. She didn’t wear any makeup today, he noticed. He liked it when she wore her face bare – not that she didn’t look good all dolled up as well, but he just appreciated the way she looked when she was just being her. She didn’t try to look like anyone else, like Cana with her dark eyelashes or Mira with her fair skin – she just looked like herself, light eyelashes and some freckles scattered across her cheeks.

It didn’t take long for Lucy to give up her efforts. The weather was getting worse by the second, and the warmth she initially worked up was gone as soon as the wind picked up. Feeling goosebumps up her arms and her neck, she soon turned back to Natsu, who was still keeping his eyes glued on her.

“Maybe I’ll leave it here for today, it feels like it’s going to rain,” she said, putting her tools away. “Do you want some tea?”

Natsu nodded, not really feeling bothered by the change in weather. Though, he didn’t exactly love seeing Lucy shiver. And he really liked the way she made tea – she always added a splash of milk and a lemon slice or cinnamon stick, depending on the flavour.

As they entered Lucy’s apartment, Natsu took a deep breath. It smelled like freshly baked bread, cinnamon and smoke from the fire she made when he wasn’t around. Underneath those tones, there was this homey scent of Lucy. The mixture of her hygiene products, her fabric softener, the subtle tones of wood and leather from different pieces of furniture, and then there was her scent. He had never found any other way to describe it. It wasn’t like normal body odour, like sweat or skin, it was something else completely. Like he could smell her DNA, or her very soul perhaps.   Well, whatever the scent was, he loved it. For him, being in Lucy’s apartment was equivalent to therapy. He didn’t even like his own home as much as he did hers – it didn’t have her flair.

Lucy broke their silence.

“Will Happy be coming over later? I got a new board game, I thought we could try it together.” She took off the boiling hot kettle from the stove. Natsu had taken a seat on the couch, still lost in thoughts.

“Yeah, he’ll drop in in time for dinner,” he told her. “He’s been at the river tryna catch tiger trouts all morning. He’s just been gettin’ carps though.” A low chuckle escaped his lips.

“Well, at least he’s got a food supply!” She chirped from the kitchen. “Look what I bought at the market yesterday.”

Lucy was balancing a wooden tray, filled with all kinds of snacks, plus some of that bread that had been cooling off. Some snacks looked like glistering jewels, others looked like they could be cursed meat disguised as small, wrinkly sausages. She put the tray down onto the coffee table. Just as Natsu had predicted, the two mugs each had a cinnamon stick in them. Natsu leaned over in intrigue as Lucy plopped down beside him.

“I couldn’t identify half of this stuff at gunpoint,” he mumbled. As he got a whiff of the smell coming from the mixed assortments, his nose scrunched. “Smells weird.”

“I’ll tell you what it is! First we got our drinks…”

She handed Natsu his cup, a dark murky orange one, rough and handmade, with little yellow flames painted in the glaze. He’d gotten it from Lucy a Christmas a couple of years ago, and ever since then it had been his designated one. As he held it he smelled a mix of spices from the steam.

“It’s a masala chai, it originated in Bellum over a thousand years ago! This mix is made with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper, cloves and black tea leaves from the area, but the seller told me that the recipe can vary. Then there’s just some milk and sugar as well, but I thought you might like it.” As Natsu listened to her listing up the ingredients, he finally found some sense in the jumbled combination of mixed spices. It made the drink feel more appetising. 

“Taste it!” She urged, Natsu seeing an intense glimpse in her eyes.

“Kay… You better not have put somethin’ weird into it…” he warned her before putting his cup against his lips, taking a small mouthful of the lightly tanned liquid into his mouth. Before Lucy could counter his rude claim, Natsu lit up. “Hey, that’s actually good!”

“Is it?” Lucy excitedly turned to her own cup, the one she had bought from the same pottery artist as she got Natsu’s. Dark blue with yellow stars painted where Natsu’s cup had flames. A matching pair, despite the themes being completely different. He liked the way it contrasted her pale hands, and he liked how she held it delicately with both hands so she wouldn’t drop it. “It really is!”

She turned to smile at him proudly, not containing her joy in the slightest. He could always tell when her happiness came from her heart – it showed in her eyes, in the fact that they squinted so hard that her eyes looked like two slits, resting on her pillowy cheeks. If he didn’t have his hands full, he would have reached out and pinched them. Test if they were as soft and plush as they looked.

“Right, so that’s the tea,” Lucy continued, not paying any attention to the intense stare that was coming from the mage beside her. “Then there’s this, it just looks like normal candy cane pieces to me, but the woman who sold it said that the people in the northern parts of Seven eat it traditionally towards winter.” The hard candies in the bowl made a jingling sound as Lucy picked it up. As she said, they tasted pretty much like normal candy canes. Natsu didn’t care for it all that much – the minty flavour left a cold feeling in his mouth, and he didn’t love to be reminded of a grumpy stripper every time he had a sweet. Still, they seemed delightfully handmade, and Lucy mentioned something about them being called polka pigs in a rough translation of their native language, and Natsu loved pork, so he took another piece in solidarity to its name.

As the two of them continued to taste test the different snacks from around the world, Natsu noticed Lucy edging closer. It seemed she hadn’t realised it herself, as she still was talking about the long, complicated production of those sausage-things that tasted much better than they looked (apparently there was beer involved? He didn’t really follow). Her position had changed from sitting on the opposite side of the couch to now sitting shoulder against shoulder. Every now and then she would lean closer, like she was searching his touch as much as he always searched for hers.

“Oh that’s right!” She exclaimed, suddenly diving under her coffee table. Natsu didn’t hide the confused look on his face when he hunched down with her.

“What?” He asked, trying to figure out what she was rummaging for.

“The flowers! Azaleas, I was going to show you a picture.” She crawled up into the couch again, her hair slightly messy this time, holding a small book. A Flower Encyclopedia was written on it, and she immediately started browsing the chapter index.

Struggling to see the contents inside the book, Natsu hoisted Lucy into his arms so he was looking over her shoulder. She seemed unfazed by his action, but her accelerated heartbeat begged to differ. Natsu couldn’t help but smile at her from behind. Her feelings could be so transparent.

“There it is,” Lucy mumbled, very aware of the blush on her cheeks. The page she held open showed a plethora of deep, pink flowers, sitting against a dark greenery. Natsu leaned a bit forward so he could see the book closer, letting his chin rest on her shoulder.

“They look kinda nice.” He tilted his head against hers, their cheeks squishing together with the motion.

“I thought you’d like them,” she whispered.

Natsu dug his face into the crook of her neck and took a deep breath. He couldn’t help it when the source of the smell he loved more than anything was right under his nose.

“Read to me,” he begged, hugging her closer. As his mouth was pressed against Lucy’s shoulder, she immediately felt his hot breath against her skin, earning a shiver. Still, she complied. Reading the pages went quickly as there were mostly pictures, but she knew he didn’t ask her to read in order to hear about flowers. She knew that he just wanted to hear her voice, so when she finished the thin book, she started talking about anything that came to her mind. Dreams, memories and things she had to do the upcoming week.

Natsu had dozed off after just ten minutes of reading. His soul felt fulfilled as he laid there, breathing Lucy’s air, hearing her calm voice, feeling her body heat pressed against him as they cuddled together. The tranquil air around the two of them acted as a perfectly curated space – he swore he could feel their heartbeats match up.

Life felt perfect. Soon Happy would arrive, and the three of them would share a delicious hot meal, listening to the cat’s fishing adventures – not before said cat teased the pair a little for acting all cuddly of course. Then they would take turns to wash up before playing that new board game long into the night.

But right here, right now, there was only Natsu and Lucy, and a comfortable couch in a warming embrace. The rain that Lucy had predicted earlier that day was smattering against her window, and before she drifted to sleep herself, she remembered thinking that this was what life was about.

hi youve given me way too much power im about to infodump so much.

This randomly fucking came to me yesterday as I was doing my Eeveeloutions only playthrough of Violet and I got to the Rika's Interview. On the question where she asks you what schools you're enrolled in, I couldn't help but notice one of the incorrect answers

Knowing that Naranja meant Orange in Spanish and Uva meant Grape, I assumed this meant something in Spanish too and lo and behold I was correct!!

This got me thinking about if there was a third gen 9 game, perhaps something to do with the present.

I immediately got to work and did a small edit on Arven's official art, which led to me making the uniforms

(you can probably tell which one I thought was better)

The idea was that red and green were the 'main' colours as those are usually the colours of an apple.

I had a few extra ideas that I very hastily sent to my friends and also got from said friends, but to list a few:

- New regional variants for Paldea, Kitakami and maybe even Unova this is just an excuse for me to draw regional Eevee actually

- (Kitakami specifically) More masks can be made for Ogerpon (except Grass, Water, Fire and Rock as they're part of the Teal Mask quest)

- The ability to actually wear casual clothes outside of the academy. Upon entering the academy, you're made to wear whatever uniform you chose, but outside you can wear whatever

(On that note, Penny's school uniform from the original post is only added AFTER finishing The Way Home. Until then, she wears her usual outfit)

- Skirts added to the academy uniform and more customisation in general for the uniforms

- More Rotom Phones, because I can

- At the start of the game, you get both Miraidon and Koraidon and can ride either. They both have certain pros and cons so you don't just stick to riding one of them the entire game.

There's also more things story wise I have but I have fears of making blog posts really long constantly, so if you want to ask about anything specific, please please ask!!!! Just note this AU is VERY new (I literally came up with the idea yesterday) so I might not have a clear answer for everything lol.

Kinda weird, but such a fire intro: Turtleneck Caitlyn looking amazing in that one profile shot, Caitlyn holding her hands above her face in stress and casting a shadow that resembles a crown (ergo ‘Heavy is The Crown’ after her mother’s passing), Vi smearing her tattoo over with black paint, Viktor being Arcane Jesus but holding a very plain and undefined mask, the Violyn bit, Ambessa crushing the Black Rose, JINX WAVING THAT REVOLUTION FLAG AHHHHHHHH, and more.

Caitlyn and Sevika fight?? Most satisfying thing ever. Crush her, Sevika.🦾🦾

Alsoo, rip-off Silco. WHO IS THIS MAN?? DID SILCO STEAL HIS CLOTHES AND DYE THEM EVIL COLOURS?? I need answers. I dub him ‘Piltover!Silco’.

Also want to point out, Silco’s orange iris faded away when he died. He has no left eyelid, as I’ve seen an person say. Instead it’s just a black orb that blends in with the scar. You can see it disappearing during his death, similarly to when Vander “died”, the veins affected by a similar variant of Shimmer across his skin faded.

Jayce looks so stupid and tired here. Thank you Ekko for calling him out on his unethical science experiments. Teach him how to do proper science please, this man cannot think straight with everything he’s been through.

I’ll sort of miss Viktor’s gold eyes, but this constantly changing Arcane Opalescent thingy is soooooooo working for him. I know the Arcane might not be at all directly linked to Glorious Evolution, but all hail the church of the Gloriously Evolved.

Can there be a statue of this in Zaun?? This. This says so much. Vi sees not only what Powder could have been, but HERSELF in this kid. I’ve known a few kids like Isha, and even though she hasn’t spoken a word she’s already such a dear character to me. Amazing representation. It’s so understandable how much she looks up to Jinx, and she herself is a symbol or manifestation of Jinx’s followers (The first Inxes, possibly). She’ll prolly die, but I hope not.

Well folks, it's been a fair few Mask Mondays since my last post, I just... really haven't had updates to share. Between getting a near full-time job, daily life complications, and of course the 810 event launch, I haven't been able to spend much time developing new colours or making cool effects. Figured I'd take this opportunity for another update, regardless.

I've still got a fair few colours to work on, of which I keep cycling through every so often when I can, because seeing variant shades of the same colour and going "okay this time is gonna be perfect" only to keep getting it wrong gets... pretty tiring. At least the variety is there with how many I have to work on, at the cost of all of them taking that much longer.

Lime is really close though! It's a tiny bit off, still, but close enough that my mom thinks I should count it. Maybe staring at these for so long is making me crazily picky 😄

Purple is... a pain in the ass, tbh. If I had a week of free time, I could get Dark Purple, Medium Lavender, and Lavender for sure, and still be no closer to Classic Purple. It's so different from the rest in how red it is but I haven't yet found a proper balance that doesn't overshoot it wildly.

Orange... y'all remember my Reddish-Orange update? Reddish-Orange is closer than Orange because I just can't seem to get this to saturate well enough while maintaining opacity, and again the camera seems to think both are far off.

Sand Blue and Medium Blue haven't been touched in a while, so I should probably get those going again once these batches for Etsy orders are done, but damn... I spent so much time on Sand Blue and just couldn't land it. Hopefully there's some info I got from the month and a half spent grinding out Silver that can finally get Sand Blue, at least. Medium currently feels closer to Light Azure, which is pretty but not the goal yet.

Not really sure what's been happening with teal, using my old resin it's the first colour I matched but with this new (arguably better) kind I'm either basically green or basically blue.

That all leaves Pearl Gold as the final colour in development. With the least progress currently, I'm hoping simply replacing the silver dyes with gold and whatnot will work for the otherwise same formula as silver, but I'll have to see if my pearling powder is too pale for that. In due time.

Also, I got a second pressure pot! Should have it all set up by the weekend, which will then basically double my output. Twice as many pieces made per day, even if that's just two batches instead of one (with a theoretical max output of 6 batches if I can afford the time and actually keep on schedule). So excited to get this running, and finally see some smoother progress! This wouldn't have been possible without everyone's incredible support, and I hope to have more exciting news soon!

Starfolks and Colour Variant: A Basic Summary

(AKA finally decided to go ham with my Spec-Evo stuff for them)

As seen in this post, I briefly mentioned the colour variations amongst starfolks, so here's a longer version that goes more in-depth.

Mask/ Core Colours

A Mask, also known more informally as the Core, is the bright, luminous spot at a starfolk's "face." It may act like the face itself, or appear as eyes. As a result, it is heavily believed to act like photoreceptors in organic beings, such as eyes.

In terms of colouration, we have several variants, from dominant to recessive, they are:

Light type: Blue - Light Blue - White

Dark type: Orange - Red - Yellow

Dual/ Hybrid Type: Green - Purple

As seen above, "Natural" types seems to have three types of alleles of the Mask gene, while Dual types seem to only have two types of alleles.

Mask genes are designated as "M," with the colour variants, in order, being designated as B, C, W, O, R, Y, G and P.

So, if a dark starfolk with the alleles M(OR), it would still appear as an orange-masked starfolk. But if the individual has M(RY), it would appear as a Red-masked starfolk, and only starfolks with M(YY) appears as yellow-masked starfolks.

This is a basic rundown, as starfolks can have mask colouration that are atypical to their types, which is seen in the "Mutations" section.

Body Colouration

Just like masks, a starfolk's body colour is usually linked to it's polarity. These are the Colouration, from dominant to recessive.

Light types: White - Light Grey - Light Blue - Light Pink

Dark Types: Black - Dark Purple - Dark Green - Brown

Dual/ Hybrid types: Green - Teal - Yellowish Green - Purple - Grey

As seen above, starfolks tend to have a wider variety of skintones compared to their mask colours. But it should be noted that colouration depends on factors like environmental conditions and general health before adulthood. For example, a starfolk that was extremely stressed during childhood would have a duller and more desaturated colour than a starfolk that has a relatively stress-free life. But this can vary and is more complicated than this.

Just like core colours, the more dominant colours masks the more recessive colours in a heterozygous individual. The genes for body colour is designated as B, with colours being W, G, C, P, B, Pr, Gr, Br, Gn, T, Yg, Pu and Ge.

So a dark starfolk with colour combination B(BPr), they would still appear as black, but an individual with genes B(PrGr) would be dark purple. And of course, an individual with genes B(BrBr) would be brown.

Mutations

Now this is were it gets fun!

Mutations often arise from abnormalities from genes, other recessive genes or even fusion. There are two types: Genetic and Fusion mutations. Genetic is, of course, inherited and is present during hatching. Fusion is where a starfolk absorbs some of another starfolk's essence, and often genetic material, resulting in it taking on new characteristics.

First off, the most common (and arguably the prettiest) one: Iridescence.

This can appear on any starfolk, regardless of type or colouration. It results in a rainbow shimmer on the starfolk's skin. It is, surprisingly enough, a dominant gene, although it is unknown why almost all starfolks have the recessive gene...

Iridescence is denoted by I, with matte being i. A Ii starfolk would still be Iridescence, but a ii starfolk would have no Iridescence at all.

Then there's points, which results in a mainly dominant body with the actual colouration on the extremities. It is designated as Po.

For example, let's take our B(BrBr) starfolk, and let's say it has two copies of the Po gene. It would appear as mainly black, with brown face, arms, legs and tail, if it has one. Of course, it can vary depending on how much limbs, heads, etc the starfolk has. It should be noted that this is written as B(BrBr)-Po.

Reversed Points is the same thing, except with the dominant colour being the extremities, while the base colour is the main colouration.

This is signed as RPo. For example, our B(PrGr) individual from earlier would appear as dark purple with black extremities if it was a B(PrGr)-Rpo individual.

Leopard (Leo) is basically when there's spots in a darker shade than the original colour. In black/ white starfolks, this may be in the recessive colour (Heterozygous) or completely absent (Homozygous).

Thylacine, Quagga and Tiger-Stripe are all the same gene (Tig), but different intensities. Thylacine results in stripes from the lower back to the base of the tail (if it has one), Quagga results in stripes on the head to the lower back, and Tiger-Stripe is full body stripes.

Countershade (Cs) is exactly that, a lighter shade on the underside of a starfolk. Absent in white and black individuals.

Ticking (Tk) is where there's a lighter (or darker in white light starfolks) shade of the base colour mixed in with the base colour itself. It does not affect the extremities.

Metallic, or Akhal-Teke (Akt) is where the body has a metallic sheen. Very, VERY visible in dark starfolks, with B(BB)-Akt (Or black with Metallic) starfolks appearing almost silver in the right conditions, but can appear in any other polarity.

Somatic, or just Soma for short, is both a genetic and fusion mutation. In fact, it is commonly believed to have originated as a fusion mutation from failed Dual-type starfolks, before becoming a proper gene. It results in starfolks of one polarity having visible colouration of another polarity, and can be mostly observed in "Natural" starfolks.

This is marked as Soma, with "ranks" of I to IV. Ranks are used to determined how much colouration is of the opposite polarity, with I being least amount, while IV is almost indistinguishable from the opposite polarity.

So, a Rank I dark starfolk would only have a small patch of white on its leg, while a rank IV dark starfolk would have a almost, or even pure white, body with blue mask.

That's right! This gene affects the mask colour too! In fact, it is somewhat common for Rank I Somatic starfolks to have a mask that is partially or completely the opposite polarity's colour. So a dark starfolk with blue mask could exist!

Albinism and Melanism are also mutations found in starfolks, except they present differently from Organic Beings. Albinism in starfolks could appear as pure orange body and mask (Dark), pure blue body and mask (Light) or Pale green body and green mask (Dual-type). Melanistic individual would be dark blue, dark orange and dark green respectively.

Of course, there's more mutations than this, but I think this would be a gold point to stop for now. If you want, I can do a more in-depth post on other Starfolk mutations and marking types.

They /do/ resemble some characters I know, but it might be a coincidence or an easter egg.

Specifically – Scream, Sleeper, Lasher and Phage.

Besides, we still don't know how's potential Toxin doing. And colours of the 3rd contaited symbiote could be, theoretically, Toxin's variant. But personally, I'm not sure those scientists (or whatever they are) would actually separate Mulligan and his symbiote (they seem pretty stable here). I don't know why. It's just a feeling.

Red is Drax, orange is Jelpax, that warmer/more orange yellow is Rallon, the more neon yellow is Kos, green in any variant is Vansell, teal is Mills, blue is Theta, purple/indigo is Magnus, the purple-y pink is Mort and the more red pink is Ushas! (She's only had one bit of writing and it was a smiley face and a heart on Millennia's page)

Generally the background notebook on their sheets is the same color as their writing!

Nyanderic Variants!

Purr-Nyanderic

A gender that's connected to purring and being a Nyandere. It is considered a variant of Nyanderic.

[ID: Two versions of a nine-stripe flag. Both versions have the same order of stripes which are the same colours. In order of top to bottom, the stripes are: Dark greyish pink, greyish blue, greyish pink, pink, off-white, and then the first four stripes repeated in reverse order. The first version of the flag also has a symbol, of a cat's head in a cartoon style. The background colour of the cat head is purple, outlined with pink. Lunar Nyanderic

A gender that's connected to the night, moon, stars/and or outer space and being a Nyandere. It is considered a variant of Nyanderic.

TRANSFRAGGLE

transFraggle ;; a transSpecies label where an individual wants to be / identifies as a fraggle, from the series fraggle rock.

A little unserious mucking around just to get an idea out of my head (hence a quickie screen snip from my editing program to show these). I don't actually know how to recolour/retexture hairs, not even sure I want to learn how at the moment tbh.

I love Poppet's v2 hairs, used them for years, but always thought it would be cool to have even more colour options, kind of like how Simgaroop has two browns and two reds.

So I just played around with secondary colour options using the originals as a base. In each pair, the one on the left is the original Poppet v2 and the one on the right is my alternate option. A more silvery white, a blue-black, a lighter, ashier brown, a deeper red that's less orange, and a platinum blonde.

Of course the game can't differentiate one red from another for example when it comes to genetics, red is red, but would be cool to be able to choose from shade variants. I'm sure my game would LOVE having twice as many files for all the hairs too lol. But some Sims would totally bleach their hair a more platinum blonde, and maybe blondes would go a more silvery white than steely grey for example.

This post has... really no purpose except for funsies I guess! Just fun to see how these look outside my brain! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

HIERODULE HAS ENTERED THE BATTLEFIELD

with both Scything Talons and twin Bio-Cannons to bring to bear, the Hierodule Bio-Titan is a walking nightmare, whether it's the Barbed or Scythed variant.

I used 12 paints to colour this model, starting with a spray primer similar to Vallejo Bloody Red.

I tried to basically liveblog the process of painting this model, but for anyone interested anyway, here's some

~Paint Recipes~

okay so those were a lot of fun to make but obviously i don't paint each separate part fully before i move on to the next, my process looks more something like this;

1- RED with a spray primer. i bought the "Bloody Red" bottle i have because it's close to the primer colour i have which i bought from michael's.

2- Mechanicus Standard Grey all the shell bits

3- Yriel Yellow all gun bits and mouth parts, often twice if it needs it since that's a Layer paint, not a Base paint, so it's less pigmented.

4- Two coats Fuegan Orange in the mouth area to really get it lookin squishy and gross

5- Corvus Black talons, teeth, hooves, spikes, etc.

6- Hexwraith Flame the gunparts, may need a drybrush of Yriel Yellow again after to keep it yellow enough, since green is a cold colour and doesn't compliment the reds and oranges in this colour scheme

7- NULN OIL EVERYTHING. THE WHOLE MODEL. ALL AT ONCE. not including the mouthparts, that's already sufficiently shaded by the Fuegan Orange and wouldn't benefit from a black shade.

8- Drybrush Warplock Bronze over all the red parts. I'm kinda on the fence on whether this step and colour are really a good addition, it adds some variation and shine/highlighting to the colours of the carapace that i think improves it?, while also darkening the overall colour in a way that I like.

I took a photo of this step while I was doing it because I had the thought of that nobody not actually holding the model would really be able to tell the difference

front half without bronzing, back half with.

9- model's done! basing time~ For this base, I started with a coating of Leather Brown, because that's what would be showing through the cracks of the Crackle Paint

10- I experimented with using both my technicals on this one, so I started with applying two Mud Puddles of the Stirland Battlemire

11- after the battlemire mud dried, the rest got covered in a very generous coating of Agrellan Earth, so it would crackle nicely.

12- Stirland Battlemire and Agrellan Earth are... very different shades of brown. to even them out, I painted over the mire with Leather Brown, and drybrushed the earth with the same.

13- the final step of any model that I paint, and what i use to signify to myself that the model is done, is the base band! i like to use Corvus Black because its nice and neutral, but for my models that I have multiple with different loadouts such as tyranid warriors, I've been considering adding coloured stripes to the base bands to help identify individuals more easily.
