#this gal…😔#i would have been fine if they put me to sleep for it#but my dentist office doesn’t offer sedations#which I didn’t know until yesterday. until yesterday i was under the impression that i would be asleep#so i tried doing it just being numbed#no#not a good choice#i got in the chair#they numbed me#i saw the pliers and i think i had an anxiety attack?#i couldn’t control my breathing and i started sobbing in the chair#and my dentist opted out of doing it and referred me to an oral surgeon#and i am trying desperately not to bully myself over this#but it’s not working#like damn why can’t i just be an adult and do something tough for once….

Is it bad to say that I just want a conclusion? Is it bad to say that I'd rather something just end badly so I can move on than to end well but be drawn out for who even knows how long? I'd just like to move on, for better or worse. I'd like to stop worrying.
#personal#my cat is coming into technically his third night at the vet#hes 14 or 15 years old and hes been hospitalized for constipation at least 5 times in as many years#they told me this time that theres a large mass of hair making up part of the blockage#which couldve been a factor for all of the other times as well#they told me last night that our options were sedate him to give oral meds and hope they work#or sedate him at a specialty center to perform surgery#or euthanize#.#and they said he was being more cooperative today and theyd try to keep going without sedation#but they had to keep him another night#i called out of work today in case i got a bad call#but now what? do i call out of work again tomorrow?#do i resign myself that the potential 'we're sorry there was just no more we could do' could come while im with a customer?#i want them to give me an answer even if its bad#i just want to finish this#obviously i want my cat back and home and sleeping next to me#but i want *an* answer

oh boy so I've had to deal with more stuff in terms of booking this fucking dental surgery and unless someone cancels their surgery, we're gonna have to wait until early August, which on the one hand gives me longer to get stuff together to pay for it, but on the other hand means I'm stuck dealing with the pain for significantly longer
#personal#thoughts#🍬 post#vent post#I think this might be because the oral surgeon basically was like ''I'll let you go and think about it''#instead of booking us in straight away and we assumed he meant deciding which type of anaesthetic#but I guess he actually meant deciding if we're having the procedure at all#but also his secretary was like ''yeah you only need to be in the hospital for general anaesthetic unless you've got some really#complicated stuff going on with your health''#which means I'm assuming we have to be in the hospital for it regardless because of our other conditions#so I have to be in the more triggering environment because of our chronic illnesses#when it could otherwise have been done in a different clinic without having to be in the hospital which would have been less triggering#but this also means that whatever happens we have to pay the hospital fee which ends up being the same price because it's 5 teeth#but if we were just having 2 teeth out like we originally thought it would have meant having to pay almost twice as much#because with sedation you pay per tooth unless you're in the hospital in which case it's the fixed hospital fee#absolutely none of this was made clear to us until now

not only is my cat allergic to fleas. no thats too easy. she’s also allergic to the topical treatments that help prevent fleas for up to a month. and there are no oral treatments that last a month, only 1-2 days, without a prescription.
today has been hell
#personal post#had to take my cat to the vet to get bathed like as soon as i noticed the hot spot#vet has zero recommendations for oral treatments so i had to research it#i can find one good one but yeah needs a prescription from the vet so i’m gonna talk to them when i pick her up#they said it’s so rare that they find this kind of reaction to the topical#which is so super cool!!!#love this for me!!!!#and like my anxiety is through the roof ofc#because they were talking that they might have to sedate her for the bath#which i get! but that would prolong when i could pick her up#and i leave at 3am tomorrow morning to drive to texas#so i wouldn’t be able to pick her up until monday if i couldn’t today#thankfully i can pick her up this afternoon#i’m so tired#and stressed out of my gourd

Has anyone ever had Triazolam/Halcion for a dentist appointment?
I’m having a super minor thing done, but I have a phobia of things being wrong with my teeth so they’re letting me do conscious oral sedation (pills) but I’m getting conflicting information.
One person told me to go home and sleep it off. Another told me not to sleep for 5 hours after the appointment.
But.. it’s a sleeping pill? How do I not sleep?

Dental Anxiety: How to Overcome Your Fear of the Dentist
Dental anxiety, or odontophobia, is a common fear that can make even routine dental appointments a stressful experience. If you're one of the many people who feel anxious about visiting the dentist, know that you're not alone, and there are effective strategies to help you overcome this fear.
Understanding Dental Anxiety
Dental anxiety can stem from a variety of factors, including:
Past Negative Experiences: A traumatic dental experience, such as a painful procedure or a judgmental dentist, can leave lasting anxiety.
Fear of the Unknown: The uncertainty about what might happen during a dental appointment can be overwhelming.
Fear of Pain: The perception that dental procedures are painful can contribute to anxiety.
Embarrassment: People with dental anxiety may feel embarrassed about the state of their teeth or gums.
Effective Strategies for Overcoming Dental Anxiety
Communicate with Your Dentist: Open and honest communication with your dentist is essential. Let them know about your anxiety and what makes you feel uncomfortable. They can tailor your appointments to minimize stress and provide reassurance.
Choose a Supportive Dentist: Find a dentist who is patient, understanding, and experienced in treating anxious patients.
Practice Relaxation Techniques: Relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation can help calm your nerves before and during your appointment.
Consider Sedation Dentistry: If your anxiety is severe, your dentist may recommend sedation dentistry. This involves using medication to help you relax during your appointment. There are different levels of sedation, from mild to deep, so you can choose the option that's right for you.
Start with Smaller Appointments: If the thought of a full dental cleaning is overwhelming, start with smaller appointments, like a quick check-up or teeth cleaning. Gradually increase the frequency and duration of your appointments as you become more comfortable.
Seek Professional Help: If your dental anxiety is significantly impacting your life, consider talking to a therapist or counselor. They can help you address the underlying causes of your fear and develop coping strategies.
Remember, you're not alone. Millions of people experience dental anxiety, and there are effective strategies to help you overcome it. By communicating with your dentist, practicing relaxation techniques, and considering sedation dentistry, you can take control of your dental health and live a healthier, happier life.

From routine cleanings to more complex procedures, our team helps patients overcome their fear of the dentist and maintain beautiful smiles.
What is Oral Conscious Sedation?
For patients seeking added comfort, we offer oral conscious sedation, administered in pill form about an hour before the procedure. This method helps patients feel comfortable, relaxed, and sleepy, yet still aware enough to respond to the dentist during treatment. Many experience temporary memory loss and feel as though they’ve slept through the procedure.
Once sedated, patients are continuously monitored by our skilled team, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the process. Our goal is to make sure you feel relaxed and at ease, with no lingering fear or anxiety.
