honestly the more i hear about engstars and its TLs the more i absolutely dread the inevitable release of poltergeist and what may ensue from it, bc if if the translators themselves are already invalidating arashis identity then i Really Truly do not want to see how theyll translate natsume and tsumugis microaggressions/transphobia towards her. esp since ive noticed a rise in people being comfortably transphobic towards her, and i REALLY do not wish to see natsume and tsumugi being stupid fucking morons be used as evidence to discredit her

and i think this is all the more reason why its VERY IMPORTANT for engstars to DIRECTLY ACKNOWLEDGE arashi and her gender. bc sometimes characters are STUPID and RUDE and APATHETIC. enstars is a story with NUANCED and FLAWED CHARACTERS, and when a character is being a fucking asshole youre meant to PROVE THEM WRONG. but they dont even acknowledge arashi as a girl themselves. so, if you do use engstars, please keep pressuring them bc omfg this is so bad and i can only see it getting worse

Sometimes I get irked when stans are on about Elain being sooo different because she's not a warrior or whatever and making weird, extremely unfounded digs at others like "some people can only recognize character development when the girl picks up a sword" when... a lot of Nesta stans did not want her to have a warrior arc going into ACOSF. Some people are still very dissatisfied with that decision. Myself, I've made my peace with it, but I still would've preferred something else for her. Not wanting a warrior arc was never something that was exclusive to Elain. And also? Anyone who's read other SJM books can tell you she's plenty capable of writing female characters that aren't warriors.

Idk, I don't think there's a whole lot of mental gymnastics needed to see why some people call Elain boring. It's not because she wears dresses and bakes and gardens or whatever y'all seem to think it is—it's because she's not nearly as active in the story so far as other side characters. Looking at Lucien and Eris, or even Nesta before ACOSF and there's a massive difference in portrayal. All characters that were given ample development without having a POV compared to Elain. Solid personalities and everything. Be as excited as you want about her story, theorize to your heart's content, but you don't need to imply that real people aren't smart enough to understand her potential or call people misogynistic in order to hype her up.

Ah.... I think a part of the reason why the ACOTAR fandom have felt more hostile lately is because people can never just peacefully making up scenario of two character or more kissing around here without getting someone else write a whole ass essay with "proof" on why that pair will never work™ ..... You can't ship anyone in peace in this fandom without having One (1) person trying to debunk your ship😭 once or twice is fine. But with every single ships that's not canon? That's just tiring.

Example:

*some post about rhysta and how their dynamic will work if they're in a relationship*

Some person: making a 5 paragraphs essay on why rhysta will not work in a romantic relationship backed with proof of excerpt from the book like they're quoting the bible

probably yes to all three. i could see him squinting at louise for like a minute straight before nodding approvingly and giving her the most polite and most friendly and also most terrifying shovel talk of her entire life. terry and the yearner on the other hand would probably get a lot more scrutiny, but like. there's a non-zero chance "scrutiny" just equates to "dragging both of them off to therapy against their wills". and also buying the yearner a lollipop along the way
