Mini Fanfic #811: Meanwhile at Smash Town (Sonic X Crash Bandicoot)
2:23 p.m. at Smash Town's Big Bang Burgers......
Coco: So how exactly did you guys came up with the name "Extreme Gears" to begin with?
Wave: Well, after we managed to create the gears from scratch, we literally took two and a half hours of our daily schedule to give them a proper name.
Coco: Jeez....It took you that long to come up with something?
Wave: ('Sigh') Yeah.... We wanted them to be known as more than just artificial hoverboards. So we decided to brainstorm and come up with names. Personally, I want it to be called "The Advanced Air Rider Board", but Jet insisted that use the "Extreme Gears" instead. Which..... I'm not really that much of a fan of to begin with, but...(Shrugs) It's whatever.
Coco: Yeah.... I don't really like the name as much either to be honest. Too much radical and cheesiness for my taste. (Smiles a Little) The original name you came up with was decent though.
Wave: Thanks. It wasn't really the best name I came up with at the time, but I was still kind of proud of it regardless. (Takes a Sip of her Drink)
Coco: Hey, speaking of which, how long did you and that Jet guy known each for?
Wave: Years ago. Back when we were both kids. (Smirks a Little Once She Fondly Thinks the Memories of hersl and Jet's Childhood Together) Jet was a bratty, troublemaker out of the both of us. So I'd always had to bail him out from any trouble he somehow got himself in to.
Coco: Neat. (Takes a Bit Out of One of her Fries) So have you two ever had any feelings for one another yet?
Wave: Wait. (Eyes Widened a Little) Feelings?
Coco: Yeah. You know, in a romantic sense. Like having a crush on one another and junk.
Wave: (Sighs While Rolling her Eyes) I know what it all means, Coco... And I can assure you that neither of us have any form of romantic feelings for one another.
Coco: Seriously?
Wave: Yes, seriously. We're just friends and colleagues at best. And besides, Jet was never into romance to begin with.
Coco was about to say something else until Wave stops her by holding a finger up
Wave: And before you start coming up with more assumptions, I don't have feelings for Storm either.
Coco: Aw...Why not?
Wave: Cause he gets on my nerves! That's why! He always let his stupidity screw us and our plans over in the long run and whenever he messes something up himself, he always tries making excuses and blames ME for it every time!! IT'S INFURIATING!!! (Slams the Table a Bit Loudly)
'Silence'
Coco: (Eyes Widened at Wave's Sudden Outburst) Oooookay then....I think I have the feeling that you two might not like each other that much, huh?
Wave: (Sighs While Calming Herself Down) Yeah. We don't. And I can guarantee you that idiot doesn't have any feelings for me either.
Coco: So you really don't have anyone to crush on as of late?
Wave: I can't say that I have really. I was too preoccupied by getting stuff done that it really came to my mind. That and.....(Starts Frowning a Little Sadly) I honestly doubt anyone would be interested in someone like me.....
Coco: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) Are you kidding!? Any guy and/or gal would be lucky to have someone like you as their love interest!
Wave: You.... really think so?
Coco: I know so. I mean, sure, you can bossy, moody, a know-it-all, can yell a lot if you really want to....
Wave: (Starts Rolling her Eyes Again) Really enjoying the words of encouragement here, kid.....
Coco: But even throughout all of that, you're pretty, resourceful, good with a ranch.....(Smiles Brightly) And one of the smartest person I've ever known. So if there's anyone here that I think deserves a love partner, it would be you, Wave.
Wave: (Smiles Softly as Her Heart Begins to Melt a Little) Thanks, Coco. I'm still not interested in being in a relationship right now, but I still appreciate the words of encouragement. (Smirks Teasingly at Coco) You and Tails on the way other hand......
Coco: (Immediately Glares at Wave While Blushing) Are you seriously bringing that up again!? Tails and I are Best Friends For Life! Nothing more-
'Phone Buzz'
Coco: ('GASPS') TAILS!! (Quickly Picks Her Phone Up From the Table Look Through the Text Messages For a Few Seconds Before Hugging It Lovely)
Wave: What? What did he texted out?
Coco: He says he missd me!~
Wave: (Starts Rolling her Eyes Yet Again) Of course he does.......
Coco: He said he misses you too.
Wave: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprised) HE DOES!?
'A Bit of Silence'
Wave: ........I mean. ('Scoffs') Of course I know a shorty like him would miss me. He's like an annoying little brother that I somehow wanted. So it's no surprise that he would feel that way, you know?
Coco: (Gives Wave a Deadpinned Look on her Face) Uh-huh. Whatever you say, big sis.

Before disaster strikes
Situated between Sonic IDW Issue #6 & #7
This one-shot ff mostly focuses in Shadow and Amyâs relationship but not in a romantic way. (If you want to see it as romantic, then go ahead and do so) Just the two trying to communicate with each other and how they react with each otherâs circumstances. This is basically âIf Amy and Shadow interact in the Sonic IDW comics, how would it be?â âCan they be friends?â âAnd if so, how will this relationship start?â âCan they have a heartfelt moment? This is an experiment based of those questions. I apologize for the mistakes, I didnât have time to revise.
5K100
.Â
The wind danced freely through the summer's grass as it tangled and disentangled the flowers within it. The sun was beginning to set and the tweeting of the birds made the scene almost too perfect. Looking over the horizons, a black and red hedgehog wondered where to go next.
He had said his goodbyes to Rouge at Windmill Village and that was the end of it. After Sonic somehow convinced him that Dr. Eggman was harmless he didn't have anything else to do.
"You tried to destroy me in the past too, remember? You even tried to obliterate an entire planet. So-what? You want me to take you out with Eggman? After all, if he can't be forgiven, can you?"
Sonic words still resonated in him. He tried not to let those kinds of things bother him, after all, he had redeemed himself and had come to terms with his past a long time ago.
... Did he?
Shadow began to run, he had nowhere in mind he wanted to go. He enjoyed the wind running through his quills, and thanks to his enhanced abilities, he could smell distinct flowers.
It was a beautiful planet and all he wanted was to protect it and all the Mobians on it.
But could he?
How could he save anyone if he let himself be convinced by Sonic so easily? Â
He growled to himself. Maybe he could go back and wait till Sonic was gone so he could fully interrogate Eggman or take him to a place where he could be watched until he made sure he can be trusted.
But if Sonic was right? Maybe he was seeing too much of Eggman in himself. Shadow wished he had the same luck as him. He would have preferred to forget everything and be good than been evil like he was.
Now that he looks back at it, it scares him the measures that he was willing to go to find the truth about himself.
He was dangerous then and maybe unconsciously, he was dangerous now.
He was ready to destroy Eggman even if he had changed, without giving him a chance.
Maybe Sonic was right ... he can't be forgiven.
By night time, Shadow had reached a small town which he didn't know the name to. He was going to keep on running but the destroyed gigantic crab-bot outside the town caught his attention. He decided to investigate a little, after all, it wasn't like he had any plans. He entered the town, colorful small houses and many of them. Some of them were destroyed and others were already up for re-building. He reached what it seemed to be the town hall, he was surprised to see the great number of destroyed bots. Sonic or someone else from the Resistance most had taken care of it. Too bad he wasn't there, it seemed like fun.
Shadow turned around, ready to run back the way he came from but as he did a scream resonated in his ears.
"It's another robot!"
Shadow noticed a townfolk was pointing at him, he wanted to go against his words but today's incidents were still in his head.
After all, if he can't be forgiven, can you?"
He broke out of his trance but it was too late. The town's militia had come out of the biggest building around. It caught the dark hedgehog off guard. And within seconds, he was surrounded and pointing wispons at him.
Couldn't they recognize him? Didn't they know he helped save the world as well?
Or maybe they did remember him ... and how he tried to destroy the world.
"Chaos-"
"YOU ALL PUT YOUR WISPONS DOWN!"
Shadow heard a female voice scream at the militia, he somehow felt familiar with it.
"It's Shadow the Hedgehog, so you all better leave him alone."
Mobians from the militia moved away as Amy Rose walked past them, walking towards the dark one.
"Everyone, go back to the town-hall, I got it from here."
Shadow rolled his eyes. He was annoyed at the fact that no one in the militia tried to apologize to him for the mistake. Did he radiate that much evil that he scared everyone instantly?
Shadow and Amy watched the militia walk back to the town-hall. When everyone was in, Amy directed her attention to the red striped hedgehog.
"I didn't expect you to see you here Shadow," Amy said. "I thought you-"
"What happened at this place?"
Amy left out a chuckle. She was a bit annoyed that Shadow cut her off like that but once again that was how Shadow acted normally.
"Bots came to attack the town, Sonic and I took them out." Amy added, "There was a lot of them but it was fun-"
Once again, Shadow interrupted the pink one as he turned around, wanting to leave the town.
Amy pouted angrily. Would he ever change? She was annoyed that Shadow couldn't even give her a few minutes of his precious time to talk. Even for old times sake. Well, not like they shared many memories. Their most intimate moment must be at the ARK and probably Shadow didn't remember that.
"Please Shadow I beg you ... give them a chance!"
Amy shook her head at the memory. For a few moments, she was embarrassed at the thoughts of her old self. She was ... something else.
"Seems like you are in a hurry," Amy had an idea, just to give him a little bit of payback for his rudeness. "I was going to tell you about how the recent bots attacks have been more organized ... someone is behind this and it's not Eggman."
Shadow stopped walking and he turned around to face the pink hedgehog. He had been traveling as well and had noticed that the bots attacks were different from before. He knew it couldn't be Eggman because he just saw him ... but what if it was him? What if he was secretly planning the bots attack. But that wouldn't be âEggman-ishâ. After all, he wasn't one to keep on the low.
"Tell me more," Shadow walked back to Amy. She seemed to be too sure about her statement. As if she knew the answers to his questions.
Amy smiled devilishly at Shadow. He looked impatient and that made her happiest the most. "Well, it's late already and I am hungry ... What if you stay for dinner and we can talk afterward?"
Shadow rolled his eyes again. This girl was getting to his nerves. Why couldn't she just give him the details? It would be much easier that way and he could leave and investigate the matter right away. Â
Shadow sighed, "I don't have time-"
"You never do."
He let out a loud growl, he thought Amy would be intimidated but on the contrary, she had a smile on her face. She found him funny. Amy was making fun of him.
"The guts of this girl,"
Shadow spoke again, "Just tell me. If you don't I am still going to find out."
"I doubt it," Amy said. "The only ones who know about it is Tails, Sonic and I and I doubt they will tell you anything on the matter."
Shadow hated to admit it but the pink one was right. He didn't have the best relationship with Tails and the recent fight with Sonic didn't leave them in the right terms.
Shadow looked around the town. He had his arms around his chest but he lowered his defense. He didn't want to say it, he was waiting for Amy to figure out his body language. But maybe that was too much to ask of her-
"Come on, let's go eat before the food gets cold."
.
Amy didn't have a good relationship with Shadow. Well, maybe she didn't have a relationship with him at all. However, she still tried to be nice to him whenever she could. In her mind, Shadow was still part of the Resistance and their team. He, just like everyone in the table, deserved to be treated with kindness.
But she had to admit she was having a hard time.
Inside the town-hall, the militia had already prepared themselves to eat dinner at the tables. Five long tables were placed across the room. In the middle, some catgirl and a sheep boy were distributing some type of soup. Amy and Shadow got a bowl of it and sat down in one of the tables.
Amy was in front of him, and as she took a sip of her soup she noticed that Shadow wasn't eating. She didn't know if it was because he was the Ultimate Life Form, that he didn't need to eat. Or simply because he wasn't hungry.
It was a lively atmosphere and the soup was really good, mostly because she helped to make it.
"Why can't he just enjoy it-"
The realization hit Amy like a truck. No one dared to sit next to them. They kept a distance of five seats away from the two. They looked at the two as if they were sick or infected with an incurable virus.
This wasn't a normal scene for the pink one. Amy was very used to be surrounded by Mobians. They would approach her and tried to be friends with her. However, today wasn't like that. She knew it wasn't her ... it was Shadow.
"Is this what everyday life is to him? Living alone and having to feel the judgemental stares of others on you?"
Amy drank a bit of water and tried to make some conversation as she smiled at him.
"Aren't you hungry-"
"No."
Well, that was that.
Shadow looked at Amy. He noticed how the smile on her face vanished the moment the word 'no' came out of his mouth. A sense of guilt overtook him. He still didn't know why Amy made him do all of this. They barely knew each other, maybe they had spoken a few words before. Probably when the BlackArms attacked but besides that, they didn't have any connection whatsoever.
And even so, he still felt guilty somehow.
"I don't need to eat. I never feel hungry ... " Shadow crossed his arms as he looked away. In the corner of his eyes, he could tell that the pink one had a surprising look but her face held a smile afterward.
"That doesn't mean you can't enjoy eating. You know eating is one of the few pleasures of life," Amy said. "You run like crazy as well ... so you can eat and no gain weight. So ... enjoy."
Shadow looked down at his plate as if he was thinking about it. Amy decided to give him one more push.
Amy smiled again, "Also, I helped to make it! It's good, I promise."
Shadow looked at Amy and seeing that she was expecting him to try it, he reluctantly picked up his spoon. He looked at the soup in his spoon and he placed it on his mouth.
Salt, pepper and hot peppers. Different condiments touched his taste buds and he wasn't expecting how warm it made him feel on his stomach. Shadow never feels hungry. But for the first time, he was for craving more of this soup.
He put his spoon up and down his mouth in a rapid manner trying to eat as fast as he could. Feeling like he wasn't getting satisfied by the way he was eating, he puts his spoon down. He tilted his head up and placed an edge of the bowl on his lips. He began drinking his soup straight up from the bowl.
Amy looked at him in wonder trying not to judge him.
"When was the last time he ate?"
Even with Shadow's lack of table manners, Amy was happy that someone was so eager to eat her food. It has been a long time since she had cooked because she was busy with the Resistance but it was comforting to see that her skills were still there.
Without Shadow noticing. Amy had stopped eating and gave him her complete attention. She placed her elbow on the table and placed her chin on her hand smiled at him as he ate.
"What does he think he is doing?"
"What a hero he turned out to be."
"He eats like a little kid ... that's humiliating."
Amy heard the Mobians whisper between themselves as they gave Shadow a nasty look. If Amy could hear them, then Shadow all the better. Â
Hearing their remarks, Shadow had put his bowl down. He didn't want to show it, but he was ashamed of his actions although he didn't know exactly what he did wrong.
But he always felt like he was doing something wrong anyways.
A part of Amy broke as she saw Shadow. He was such a strong character and seeing him doubt himself wasn't something that Amy enjoyed.
Amy loudly puts her spoon on the table, smack it against the wooden table as she got everyone's eyes on her now. She began to do exactly what Shadow was doing. Eating straight from her bowl as she added some noises just to let her thoughts be known to the others.
She finished quickly and she burped loudly as she placed her bowl down.
"Well, that hit the spot, didn't it Shads?" Amy didn't know where did she get the courage to nickname him like that all of a sudden, but given the circumstances, she didn't care.
Shadow was surprised once again at this girl. He didn't doubt her skills or anything for that matter. But he had always had that feminine perception of her. That whatever she had to do, had to be cute and feminine.
But Amy Rose was more than that.
She stood up from her seat as she looked at Shadow.
"Let's go to the rooftop and talk, shall we?"
.
Shadow wanted to get the information out of her and leave. However, he couldn't find the right moment as she began to vomit.
"This is what I get for eating so fast- Blargh" Amy was on the edge of the rooftop. On the other side, Shadow looked from afar.
Shadow rolled his eyes, he just couldn't understand the female. "If you already knew that you would get like this, then why do it?"
"Blargh- I did it -Blargh- for you!" Amy said as she finally felt better after letting everything out.
Shadow stance softens. At first, he had thought that Amy was coping with his eating mannerisms just to be funny. However, it seemed like just like he did, she heard the comments the other Mobians said about him.
"Those Mobians were speaking badly about you, I couldn't just stand there and do nothing," Amy said as she stood up the edge. "They are hypocrites. Believe me, if it was anyone else, they wouldn't have said anything. But because it's you-"
Amy stopped herself. She didn't want to get there but maybe she should have. After all, she was sure that Shadow knew about what others thought of him by now.
"I know I don't have the best reputation," Shadow said as if he was reading Amy's mind. "And I don't care."
Amy knew that was a lie but Shadow had too much pride to ever admit that. A few minutes passed without them saying a word. Amy watched the full moon in front of them, bigger than usual and even more beautiful. If instead of Shadow, Sonic was here, this scene could be way too perfect. Straight out of a romantic movie.
"Well, this is awkward."
"Provide information." Shadow broke the silence. It took him a few minutes to realize where he was again. Amy's gesture had taken him by surprise. Even when she knew that she was going to throw up, she still decided to go through that pain for him. He decided, that he might as well try to be a bit nicer towards the pink one.
"Oh yeah about that ..." Amy looked around nervously. "I don't have much information. Tails was the one who came up with the theory that someone besides Eggman was controlling the bots in a more organized matter. Eggman likes to show off ... If it was him coordinating the bots, then we would have known by now. So we believe its someone else-"
"It's definitely not Eggman," Shadow interrupted her. He was a bit annoyed that everything he went through was for nothing. "We found Eggman in Windmill Village today."
Amy walked towards Shadow, confused.
"What?"
"Well, Sonic was already with him when I arrived with Rouge ... Eggman lost his memories and he now dedicates to building bots for good apparently." Shadow looked at the moon and not at Amy.
Amy had to admit that she was a bit angry that she was finding the news through Shadow and not Sonic. Couldn't he take some time off his day to communicate with her? She was only one call away anyways.
Amy dismissed her thought. At the moment Shadow was the one that worried her the most. His eyes showed something she couldn't quite describe.
âOh, wait. I know what it is.â
"Alright, what did Sonic do?" Amy asked.
"What?" This time Shadow looked at Amy. She was next to him and maybe too close for his comfort.
"You have that face ... I always put that face when I am worried about Sonic." Amy said. "And something tells me you are not telling me the full story."
Shadow had to give credit where credit is due. Amy was very perceptive. He normally wouldn't say anything. In al honesty, if it was anyone else, he would have been gone in an instant. He wasn't very communicative but it seems like he was different with the pink one.
"I was there to get rid of Eggman but Sonic convinced me of giving him another chance," Shadow said as he looked at the moon again. "And I am just not fully convinced that he is good ... and if anything bad happens then there will be no one to blame but me."
Amy kept looking at Shadow as her eyes soften at the black hedgehog.
"He would blame himself instead of blaming Sonic for convincing him? That's very Shadow like."
"Shadow, why are you so invested in saving the world?" Amy asked.
The question caught Shadow off guard and he looked at the pink waiting for her to elaborate more on her question.
"I mean, I've seen how everyone treats you," Amy said. "I just saw it today ... a small moment of your life and you just deserve so much better. After today, I don't understand why you would want to save this world."
"Not everyone is bad," without a heart-beat Shadow answered. "Some people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish but they are basically good if they try their best and never give up on their wishes. They always have a reason to be happy and that's why I should help them out."
"Oh Chaos no, he remembers that? No, no, no-"
Amy gulped saliva and she looked everywhere but at Shadow's directions. She didn't want to show her embarrassment and at the moment, she didn't if Shadow was teasing her or he just simply remembered her words.
"What a nice ideology ..." Amy said as her voice trembled a little. "Where did you get it from?"
"Maria probably told me that, I think," Shadow made a pause. Maria's name came naturally to him but he was surprised that he was talking about her to Amy nonetheless. "But to be honest, I don't quite remember. It's a very blurry memory ... at the ARK and a voice."
Amy sighed in relief. She had to admit that it was a nice gesture of Shadow to remember her words at the ARK. After all, she did mean every word she said and she let her heart out when she begged him to save the planet. She has decided to keep that secret within her forever.
Even more now.
Knowing Shadow, he takes everything to heart.
And as far as he knows or remembers, Shadow helped save the word out of the goodness of his heart. If Shadow were to know that he helped save the world because Amy asked him to then he would have more complications. Would he think that he is no good? Shadow never gave himself enough credit for what he was done ...
"But maybe you are right."
Amy faced the black hedgehog again. A few moments of silence had passed between them and she still couldn't believe she was having a conversation with Shadow after so many years. Now, it was Shadow who started the conversation and she was grateful to him that he had started it this time.
"I don't know why I focus on saving the world when I am not even sure if I am good for it." Shadow said, "I always thought that the cause justifies the means ... but how can I save everyone when along the way I keep making the wrong decisions?"
Shadow didn't know if it was just the rush of the moment or the nice atmosphere around them that he felt relaxed. Maybe it was the fact that after this, they wouldn't be seeing each other after a long time. Until the world was at risk again. That comforted Shadow in a sense. Unlike Rouge, who he saw almost daily, he would see Amy in a couple of months or years even.
Right now, Amy was playing the role of a therapist which she didn't mind. She knew that people felt comfortable talking about themselves when the person they are talking to was a stranger. Or they had a low possibility of seeing each other. Â
Whatever the reason it was, she was glad it was Shadow.
"Something tells me you are not telling me the whole story," Amy got closer to Shadow. For her, it was a way to bring him comfort and although he appreciated the gesture, he still wasn't used to it. "Did something else happened at Windmill Village?"
Once again, he couldn't figure out what it was. Yes, he hesitated. He was about to walk away and never come back but that strange thing is that he didn't want to. There was literally nothing attaching him to this moment. Amy had admitted to knowing almost nothing about this organized bots attacks, he should be gone by now. Looking for a nice tree to sleep on or try to at least.
But he felt very calmed and relaxed around the pink one. It can't hurt to let his guard down just for a few more minutes. Maybe it was something unconscious like his body and mind told him it was alright to be like this with her.
"I was fighting Sonic over whether Eggman was good an not and ..." Shadow looked to the side, not wanting to look at Amy for the moment. "He said that if Eggman can't be forgiven... then I can't be forgiven either."
A few seconds passed without the two saying anything. Shadow waited for Amy to say something, he expected something else. However, he should have known better. This was Amy Rose he was talking about. She would defend Sonic and his ideology's to the end of the world-
"Wow, what a jerk."
Shadow snapped his head at Amy's direction. Her words surprised the red striped one.
"Don't get me wrong," Amy said. "I trust Sonic and his decisions and I know that if anything bad happens he has our backs ... but that still doesn't give him the right to bring up your past mistakes!"
Amy looked over to the view in front of her, the town was beautiful at night. Fairy lights surrounded the entire town, Mobians lively walked and talk with their friends.
She saw that she had Shadow's full attention and decided to continue. "Eggman became good because he lost his memory but you? You made the conscious decision to redeem your self and you did! You worked hard and you are willing to do anything to save the world even when people aren't' the nicest to you. You are nothing like Eggman and will never be, Shadow you-"
Amy stopped herself. She realized she had been talking none stop about Shadow. Yes, she admired the black and red hedgehog. Her inner fangirl side may have gotten the best of her. She kept looking at the town, hoping that Shadow will take the hint and change the conversation.
"I may be nothing like Eggman but I still look like one of his robots." Shadow said. "Even this town's militia thought I was one today."
Amy sighed relief to be able to change the topic. "Don't blame them too much, your dark fur camouflages with the night and then you have the most vibrant red eyes I've seen! But to be honest, that's how I knew it was you. Your eyes are like rubies, very beauti-
"For Chaos Amy, stop talking! He is going to think you like him or something and it's definitely not like that!"
"Like I was saying!" Amy tried to compose herself, still, she didn't dare to look at Shadow. "You are not like Eggman and sometimes Sonic doesn't measure his words. If he ever offends you, just come to me and I'll show him a piece of my hammer."
"I can defend myself." Shadow said, "But ... thank you, Rose."
Shadow didn't expect this night to turn out like this. He thought he would have been gone in an instant but he was glad he decided to stay a bit longer. He wasn't to get complimented and in all honesty, he didn't know how to properly react to it either.
So, a simple thanks should be sufficient and proper.
"Rose? Should I refer to you as Shads now?" Amy let out a small giggle and it was Shadow time to be embarrassed.
"This is what I get for being nice ... never again."
They were looking at each other now and Shadow's uncomfortableness went away. They were so close that their shoulder's almost touched.
"Just call me Amy," Amy interrupted his thoughts. "Rose is too formal, and well I don't want us to be strangers."
"I'll keep calling you 'Rose'," Shadow responded.
"Alright ... Shads," Amy teased him and to her surprise, Shadow didn't protest against the nickname. After all, he did had a soft side. It's a bit sad however, she knew that it will probably be a long time before she gets to call Shadow that again.
"So ... what's your plan now? Anywhere specific you want to go?" Amy asked.
"Not really," Shadow said. " Eggman is no longer a threat and it seems like you and your team have everything under control."
"Well, if you don't have a place, the Resistance will always have the doors open for you." Amy looked at Shadow and their eyes met. They were comfortable with each other now and all past tension was gone. "We could use someone like you ... for cleaning the building I mean."
"What?"
"Come on Shads, you are fast! You will finish cleaning in the blink of an eye!! Amy added, "Or are you not as Ultimate as you say?"
"The guts of this hedgehog to insult me ... It's impressive."
Shadow looked over the moon once again, and then back to Amy. "Although I appreciate the thought ... I have to deny, I'll be on my way."
"Very well then, I can't stop you but just know I'll always be here in case you need anything-"
"Chaos Amy Rose! Stop talking like that! You sound like a crazy romantic, you have gone past that phase!"
Thankfully for Amy, Shadow was very unaware of what meant to be a crazy romantic or anything of that matter. Shadow was never one to pay attention to those things nor he had the time. Not like he cared as well.
"I meant everyone is here for you! We will always be here for you, Shadow." Amy smiled at him.
"Shads," Shadow said.
"What?" Amy asked.
"You are Rose and I am Shads."
If Amy could, she would hug Shadow but she knew that would be over the boundaries. Amy felt her body get warm at Shadow's soft side. He might have a cold personality but he had feelings like everyone else. Her heart was content at Shadow's hidden cuteness and she had a new personal mission.
Protect Shadow the Hedgehog at all costs.
"Well, it seems like I won't see you in a while then," Amy said. "Until the next destruction of the world at least."
"We will see about that." Shadow said, "I may go to the Resistance once in a while."
Shadow wanted to say something along the lines of 'I will visit you.' However, words like that will never come out of his mouth and for his own sake, he wasn't going to say them.
"For investigation purposes only of course." He added.
They looked at each other and Amy smiled at him. Surprisingly enough, Shadow smiled back at her and to be honest, that's all Amy wanted from tonight. For Shadow to have a good time and for her to learn something new about him.
Amy had always thought of Shadow as someone she could rely on. Now she was happy that Shadow thought the same about her.
Maybe, they could be friends later on. But for now, she was content at the moments they had.
"Of course, for investigation only."
There were many things Shadow wasn't ready to admit nor he ever was going to. But if there was one thing he was sure about was that Amy wasn't that bad at all. He could see himself talking to her more often and if she wanted, he could drop by the Resistance and help her out with the missions. It didn't seem like a bad direction to take after today.
But right now, that didn't matter. For once, he didn't care about his past nor the future. He was free to enjoy the present with Amy.
And that was all he could ever ask for.

A/N: I was re-reading Sonic IDW Issue #6 and it lowkey bothered me when Sonic brought up Shadow's past to convenience him to give Eggman another chance. I just couldn't stop thinking about it and I couldn't bring myself to write anything but that. That's why I decided to write this, to have a nice conclusion of my own. As well that I like to explore the relationship between characters. Yes, I ship ShadAmy but not of their interactions have to be romantic. Remember that intimacy can be many things and it can be with anyone.
Anyways, I am writing the last chapter of 'Stages' and that will be done and up online most likely tomorrow. I just sometimes need breaks from stories to get the ideas going. After 'Stages' is done, I'll start with the requests.

(x)Â <-- prompt referencing this.
I don't mind being asked about continuations at all! :D They're fun!
All are fun, but not all are welcome so if you, dear reader, wish to submit a prompt please look over general rules for the blog and limit how many prompts you send in to 3 per person and let others have a go! If this is one of your 3, please wait till your other 2 are done! Thank you! :Db
Commissions are closed! If you're not on the list, you'll have to wait for next time :)b
Prompt: (AU)
It wasn't long until Amil started acting strange again. He rushed around, doing chores, cleaning, and cooking for the gang. He found nothing wrong with a man doing some work for his homies, especially when his friends all had different styles when it came to house upkeep.
"Amil... I told you! I'll get to the dishes tomorrow..." Tails, with his hands up in hopes to convince Amil to take it easy by his sink, slowly lowered them in thanks as Amil shook his head vigorously.
"No can do, buddy!" Amil sparked with life, doing nothing half-heartedly. "You've been working hard on that new X-Tornado upgrade, right? Still thinking of the classic blue, steel grey, and yellow?"
"A-actually, I was thinking about using some red a bit too." Tails stepped back and leaned on his toes a bit, "Geez, Amil, you really know how to do these things awful well." Putting his hands behind his back, he sweetly watched Amil clean and then curiously looked up at him. "Why do you care so much about it?"
Amil shrugged, "I don't know... I... I like to keep things nice. Not that you do a bad job or anything!" he immediately quieted any fears of judgement Tails may make on that comment, gesturing his hand back to stop the misunderstanding in case it took place. "I just mean that a happy looking home makes for a happy pair of shoes!" he mused, "Isn't that the saying?"
Tails laughed, "Not any that Iâve heard! But if it means that much to you, then I'll gladly let you help me out!" he swayed his tails. "Oh, that reminds me. You used to talk about girls and stuff a lot, have you finally found one?" he put his finger a bit close to his mouth.
Amil fumbled slightly with a dish, but gently caught it's slippery surface and sighed in relief. "W-what makes you say that, Tails..?" He looked away, a bit flustered.
"Well..." Tails turned away a moment, "You've just been really quiet lately about it... we all know you get lonely for companionship kinda fast... so I thought maybe you had found someone. Does this mean you'll get married and leave us behind to deal with Eggman and we'll have to save the world without you?" He turned back and tilted his head towards Amil, but Amil squirted the sink's expandable hose at his face, so he wouldn't see his jumbled expression.
It extended at just the right length, and Tails bubbled through the water before pulling back, moving his hands out to try and blindly look for a towel to dry his face off.
"That's none of anyone's concern, Tails." He handed him the towel he was searching for, as Tails gave an open-smile at feeling it and rubbed off his face. "Besides... I may not get married..." Amil's heart slightly twinged at admitting it. "I just don't think I'll find anyone... and besides, what would you, Knuckles, and Sonic do without me!" He smiled warmly at the thought of spending his life with a team who all cared about each other, but Tails just peeked his head out from the small hand-towel he was using.
"Ohh..? That's kinda good, cause that means you can do my dishes forever now, right?" He grinned but Amil reached behind him and grabbed his head into a noogie, using the sponge to grind into his head.
"Now, let's get those naughty thoughts cleaned out of your head, eh?" He joked, as Tails struggled and tapped his tails against his back. "Uncle, uncle!!" Tails cried out and so Amil let him go.
Tails rose up into the air, smirking at an idea as Amil went to scold him, his guard completely down...
"Now Tails, it's rude to try and peer into someone else's love life-AHHH!!!" Amil's head was shoved into the soapy water as Tails laughed, sitting on his shoulders and kicking his legs out before jumping off and dashing away.
"Says the guy who's still dreaming about a harem and kids!" Tails stretched the sides of his cheeks out, wiggling his tongue mockingly towards Amil for him to chase him.
"Grr..! IT'S NOT A HAREM! They're too hard to handle and you can't please everyone and I hate being a bad guy!" he quickly spoke this out as his fists shook and he quickly wiped his face off with the same hand-towel Tails had tossed. He summoned his hammer and charged after Tails, grinning at the friendly spar with his figurative brother figure.
After roughhousing and laughing so much, Tails and Amil rolled into a batch of flowers, laughing and laughing until Tails finally looked up into the sky.
His eyes twinkled a moment, and then he placed his hands on his stomach, "You know... I don't mind talking about girls so much anymore..."
Amil slowly stopped laughing, turning in confusion to look at Tails, before his heart softened at what the fox boy was saying.
Tails's expression turned gentle and sincere, looking from the sky back down to his home. "...I know Sonic isn't the best to talk about it with but... I don't mind." He leaned his head up to look at Amil, inviting him to share his feelings.
Amil was more than thankful for the offer, and turned to swoop his arm up over his eyes and bask a moment in the sunny day. He sighed, "I still want a family..."
"...But?" Tails raised his eyebrows, smiling sweetly to encourage Amil on.
"...But." He flopped the arm down.
"Oh... You took that 'don't leave us', kinda seriously... huh?" Tails felt a bit bad, but Amil looked down and rose his torso up, scruffing up Tails's head and ruffling his hair there, making the 10-year old laugh.
"It's okay, buddy! Besides,... there probably isn't a perfect girl out there for me anyway..." Amil felt a sorrow pass through him, but it slowly trinkled off and he was fine again.
But Tails saw it... he got up too, hitting his chest, "You will. If any of us have love in our future, it's gotta be you, for sure." He nodded and turned back to the sky, "Have you wished on stars yet?" He joked, and Amil knew he didn't actually believe in that.
"Don't tease me." Amil hit his shoulder and Tails laughed. But he had tried Tarot Reading... At least, by what he deemed an expert, but all they said was that the future is littered with possibilities.
But the wait seemed never-ending...
"Hey, if I meet a girl... will you let me talk to you about it?"
It was something that meant more to Amil than Tails knew.
"Of course." His eyes shone and glistened with sea hitting the cliff-side of where Tails's home was stationed, and off in the distance--was Angel Island.
The wind beat fast as Tails flew Amil over to the Master Emerald, letting him fall from his arms as he landed in a very agile and loose-manner. Amil was pretty good acrobatically, he could have been a real contender for the olympic gymnastic games, but would only join if Sonic was going.
"Thanks, Tails!" Amil waved his friend off, and then headed towards Knuckles, "Guard duty! Shift's up!" Amil clapped to wake up Knuckles, who had a few butterflies resting on him as his stomach moved slightly up and down, but so gentle that the local wildlife had curled up next to him or landed to rest on him.
They all looked up from their nap and took off with Amil's clapping, and Knuckles blinked his eyes a few times before looking down at Amil. "Eh, you're early." Knuckles yawned. "I thought training wasn't until the weekend?"
"Week days, but I can see your confusion." Amil placed his hands on his hips, but a little chao reached up and pulled on his boot's socks. "Huh? Aww..." He took a knee and petted the sweet chao as it wanted, its little pudgy arms pushing together and turning to the side as a heart morphed from the yellow ball on its head. "And besides, we don't have to train today. We can just talk too. Haha." he was instantly charmed as the chao flew up and clasped his face, rubbing its head against his.
Little animated hearts flew around Amil as he had a soft spot for cute and adorable things, and put his hands up to cradle the chao in his arms and rubbed his head lightly back against his own.
While Amil was enamored by the cuddly creature, Knuckles groaned, "Oh no. None of that 'romance' stuff!" He strained a bit to get up but finally did so, stretching out some of the kinks that had formed from sleeping with his neck and half his back up against the Master Emerald.
"That's all you ever talk about!"
Amil looked up from the cuddles with the cute chao, wiggling his fingers to tickle his belly as he held it giggling in his hand, before turning back to Knuckles, "Huh?"
"You're not even paying attention..." Knuckles sweatdropped, seeing him playing with the many chao that began to form around him, desperate for the attention that none of the other members so freely gave in such large quantities. "But they sure do love ya." Knuckles breathed out from his nose, as though glad to see that his tough, strong friend was as gentle and sweet in his heart towards all things as he should be.
Amil gave love to each and everyone of the chao, "I just love... loving! Is all." He also seemed a bit ashamed to say that, but Knuckles shook his head.
"Nah, a man should love. That's how he knows who to protect, and what's worth fighting for." Knuckles put his gloved fists to his hips, before leaning forward and then back to wink a sign of approval to Amil.
"...Thank you." Amil stared gratefully at Knuckles.
"Eh, don't sweat it. Let's toughen up those muscles so your heart can beat just as fierce as those emotions of yours!" Knuckles slammed a fist into his open hand, which shook Amil.
"R-really? I thought I could play with the chao a little more while you woke up a bit? Y-y-you know, get ready and stuff?" Amil didn't feel like getting sucker punched in the gut or thrown half-way across the island by a fist to the face anymore...
Knuckles's face turned into a wicked sense of pleasure, "Nope, I'm all fired up..." he looked like a beating was coming to Amil...
Amil gulped, getting up and fanning the chao back and away so they wouldn't get hurt. "B-b-but don't you want some food first?! Can't fight on an empty stomach?" he flinched when Knuckles moved forward, smirking widely and making a sound like he was gonna come at him. "I-I'll even cook!" Amil summoned his hammer and prepared to flinch and dodge.
"...You will, huh?" Knuckles pulled back, "Alright! Who wants to punch a sap like you so early in the morning, anyway!?" Knuckles turned away, "Besides," he rubbed his white boxer-glove under his nose. "You're more of a lover than a fighter... Who's the next lucky lady on the list then?" he walked back over to the Master Emerald, rubbing it to get some dust off that the wind had blown on it.
"H-huh?" Amil blinked a bit, "Lucky... Lady..?"
"You haven't so much as piped up about a dame in a long time." Knuckles hoisted the Master Emerald up, showing some supreme strength as he shook the rest of the dust off, then gently lowered it back down, and admired it with his hand up by his chin. After a few nods of approval, he looked back to Amil with his arms folded, "Sonic and Tails mentioned it. You haven't been yourself lately, and I haven't heard so much as a utter about the future from you in quite some time. So? Who is she? Any bit cute, this one? Heh heh..." Knuckles sneered, "I bet she has six toes to be interested in a lovesick loser like you, hahaha!" he joked, but Amil just frowned in annoyance.
"That's it!" he charged at him, and the two tuffed it out for a while.
Knuckles threw him down the hill, jumping to slide down it himself as Amil tumbled harshly down it's surface. Flying down the rocky terrain, Knuckles raised an eyebrow to Amil, "Huh, she's that cute that you won't even tell your friends about HHEERRR!!" he shoved a fist into the ground to disrupt the falling, but as Amil rose into the air, he quickly smiled back to Knuckles.
"No girl! No love interest!" he curled up and shot into Knuckles.
Ricocheting off, Knuckles seemed a bit confused and worried, surprised he would even say that. "Really? Ha, ho, ha. No one?" he kept hitting back up against the cliff as he slid down before he reached back and braced himself against a tree. "Hrrr... Then why the sudden shift?" Knuckles seemed to be asking the same questions Tails had.
Amil uncurled and went in for a swing of his hammer, "And how about Rouge, huuuhh!??!!"
Knuckles flinched in a blush, grabbing his hammer with both hands and having a ripple effect through the air between them at the amount of power they both possessed.
"Grr... I hate that stinkin' Bat Girl!" he was losing the straining battle... and Amil pushed down even harder, gaining his center back.
"If that was the case, then why do you let her try and steal the Master Emerald from under your nose?" he cooed, tauntingly.
"RAAHHH, THAT'S NEVER ON PURPOSE!" Knuckles found his hidden strength reserve and shoved Amil off and to the ground.
Amil back-flipped and got up for more, "Now who's talkin'?" Amil looked finally back into the right attitude.
Knuckles jumped high into the air to come down on him too, and now, Amil was the one struggling with his full force slamming against his hammer.
"Get your stance up to date!" Knuckles instructed.
"I'm trying to work up the nerve to ask girls first!" Amil teased, and threw him off.
Knuckles skidded against the ground, squinting one eye shut with a proud smile. "Not bad... looks like you haven't given up on love quite yet." He got back up, dusting himself off. "Well, if you've got what it takes, be a man and show me how'd you fight and protect a girl!" he got ready for more, urging Amil on.
Amil got into a fighting stance, "I'm just warming up... but as long as I have all of you with me... I'll never be lonely... and I won't feel the need for one." He ducked his head into the pose and swung his hammer as far back as possible.
Knuckles continued his proud smile, but looked up more in respect to his friend.
'That's right... Sonic can be my hero.' He closed his eyes a moment, 'Tails can be my brother... and Knuckles, my dear friend and teacher. We're all loved. I just need to see it more in the people around me.' he opened his eyes again, "I'll never give up..!" He took one amazingly fast and powerful step forward to Knuckles, then another as he scaled the distance between them in seconds. "I've found my family!!!" He pulled his hammer from being so tightly and fully swung back around him that when it was released, jammed into Knuckles's defending arm, making him wince in the pain before flinging him back.
"Gah!" he was continually hammered into trees that snapped in half, as Amil finally stopped and pulled out some bandages, suddenly turning sweet and cute again.
"Would you like the mint-flavored or the lollipop-flavored?" He teased, blinking innocently like a male nurse before attending Knuckles as swirls filled his eyes, and then ripped out the bandages and began working without mercy on him.
"Ye-ow! Ahh! Heeeyyy!!! Oph!" Knuckles snapped out of it and protested, but Amil shoved the minty gummy into his mouth and he piped down and chewed... subdued.
(I hope you like how I pictured a male Amy! and how I gave Amil a sequel! ;)b I hope to do a fanfiction about the Sonic team finding a genderbent world! So we'll see~ Amil is precious though XD I love him!)

269. Sonic Universe #2
The Shadow Saga (Part 2 of 4): Time & Again
Writer: Ian Flynn Pencils: Tracy Yardley! Colors: Jason Jensen
So, do you remember how way back when we got the single-issue incomplete "adaption" of Sonic Adventure 2, I mentioned that the events of the incident would be clarified by Ian Flynn in a later issue? Well, this is the one! Interspersed within the events of the modern story are flashbacks to what happened during Sonic Adventure 2, heavily modified to fit within the comic's world. However, I've elected to tackle the modern half of the story first, and explore Sonic Adventure 2 afterward, mostly because though Ian seems to be trying to draw parallels between the latter story and the former, they don't really⊠work all that well, nowhere near the level that they did in the first arc of KtE anyway.
The modern story opens with Shadow approaching the Freedom Fighters' camp not far from the Eggdome in the middle of the night, waking Sonic up to invite him along to a little bonus mission.
I mean, while I can understand wanting to invite Sonic on a mission against Eggman, 1. he's already on one, and 2. you'd think Shadow would realize he'd need some sleep before the final battle against his arch-nemesis. What, you can't handle this alone, Shadow? Well, as it turns out he's not actually alone, as Sonic reaches the rendezvous point first (zooming off ahead of Shadow, of course), and finds Rouge waiting for him. Apparently, Eggman's been working on a sneaky plan to turn a telescope in the city into a massive laser capable of wiping the Freedom Fighters' little camp off the map, shield or no⊠as well as half of the rest of the city. Sonic thinks this is overkill even for someone like Eggman, but as Shadow catches up he explains that GUN doesn't quite think so.
To be fair, Sonic, you haven't been seeing the behind-the-scenes insane ramblings of his that Snively's been subject to recently. They break into the laser control room, and Sonic and Shadow deal with the smaller security lasers while Rouge hacks into the control system, trying to disable the thing. The cannon is already moving into position to fire, and worse still, the console then fries itself, Rouge having accidentally triggered a self-destruct command. Sonic and Shadow try to destroy the cannon directly, but no amount of spindashing or Chaos Spear-ing will pierce its armor, so Rouge suggests going for the bolts holding it in place, hoping it might throw off the shot.
Brilliant job, guys! Shadow, seeing no other choice, removes his inhibitor rings and climbs onto the top of the cannon just as it begins to fire. He uses all of his power to force the shot to misfire outwards instead of straight ahead, wrecking the barrel but saving the Freedom Fighters. This is really the only place where the parallels Ian tries to draw make sense, as then we see a flashback of him using his power a year ago to force the ARK back into orbit, and subsequently falling back into the atmosphere.
Aww, look at 'em! As the sun begins to rise, the three walk back towards the camp, and Sonic asks if they want in on the invasion. Shadow refuses, saying that he believes this is Sonic's fight considering how long he's been fighting against Eggman. As Sonic leaves, Rouge smirks at Shadow, and remarks on how far their relationship has come from before. Shadow, of course, has to defend his ego and insists he merely respects Sonic, to which Rouge teases him even more about how of course he can't admit he's made a friend.
Now, time to take a look at what their relationship used to be like, in the very-condensed Adaption 2.0 of Sonic Adventure 2! Instead of following exactly how it's portrayed in this issue, I'm just going to explain how exactly everything went down starting from the beginning, relying on context clues from this issue and previous ones. In case you've forgotten, during the events of the incident, both Tails and Knuckles were otherwise occupied, Amy was chilling in Mercia with Rob, and basically no one was even aware of where Sonic was at the time, as he was apprehended while sneaking back into Knothole while he was still supposed to be confined there. StH#98 covered what happened leading up to his arrest and subsequent breakout, but naturally, after the GUN truck chase he was rearrested and taken to Prison Island. Meanwhile, of course, Shadow had been released from his pod by Eggman, stolen a Chaos Emerald from Station Square, and presumably explained how the ARK's Eclipse Cannon worked to Eggman. Like in the game, Rouge also showed up at this point to offer her support in procuring more Chaos Emeralds - though as you might remember, at this point in the comic's history the emeralds still hadn't been combined into their distinct seven forms yet, so the Eclipse Cannon only required seven random emeralds to fire. Conspicuously missing is the entire plot point about Rouge stealing the Master Emerald from Knuckles, and the both of them subsequently searching for its shattered remnants all over the world, but if we're being quite honest the entire story still makes perfect sense without Knuckles and the Master Emerald, which I suppose is lucky for Ian trying to make sense out of all of this.
The point at which this issue actually starts recapping prior events begins on Prison Island after Sonic had broken out of prison once again - without the help of Amy or anyone else, mind you, since once again, they were all elsewhere at time. Really, this version of events is so stripped-down precisely because half of the game cast is missing, which is why the events of the game were able to fit into a single day despite several days passing in the game itself. Sonic and Shadow had their famous "faker" exchange in the forest and began fighting each other, with Rouge's voice coming over Shadow's communicator and informing them she'd found the remaining six Chaos Emeralds they'd need. At that point, Eggman reminded Shadow the whole island was about to blow, and at the same time Rouge called for help as she'd found herself stuck inside the vault. When Sonic heard Eggman tell Shadow to leave her and that they'd come back later to "dig the emeralds out of the ashes," he was outraged and offered Shadow a truce so they could rescue Rouge together. Shadow accepted, and they raced back to the facility as the timer counted down, with Shadow Chaos Control-ing them off the island and into the desert just before the place exploded.
See, while I understand where Ian is going with this, I really don't like his rewrite of Shadow's motivations here. For those not familiar, in the game, Shadow makes the decision to go back for Rouge entirely on his own, because the thought of her dying alone in the facility made him flash back to Maria's death. Later on, when she tries to talk to him about how he saved her, he avoids her questions, giving a similar excuse to this one, but with it being pretty obvious that that's not the case, as he hasn't stopped thinking about Maria since the mission. Here, Ian makes it seem like Shadow actually didn't care and indeed was only after the Chaos Emeralds, and he only went to the trouble of rescuing her thanks to Sonic's suggestion. However, I understand why this was kind of necessary - with his main allies elsewhere, Sonic needed someone to ally with for the next part of the plot. He ended up teaming up with Rouge, who was quite offended at Shadow's attitude, to break into the pyramid containing Eggman's base, and she piloted the space shuttle within up to the ARK. As I've pointed out before, at no point in the comic is it even slightly hinted that Eggman broke the moon in half as he does in the game - the only indication we have of such an event would be in StH#197, when Sonic recognizes Mobius from orbit by its half-destroyed moon, but in all fairness, the issue doesn't actually state the reason why the moon is broken. Remember, it's canon that Mobius has one hundred moons - that wasn't even retconned! Ian just made up a story behind it and put it in the Complete Sonic Comic Encyclopedia afterwards, but with one hundred whole-ass moons, it's entirely probable that at least one got bodied at some point in the planet's history, and Sonic just happened to recognize that particular one as he was reentering the planet's atmosphere. But anyway, once Sonic and Rouge made it up to the ARK, Sonic and Shadow quickly got into a fight on the catwalks outside the station, presumably while Eggman slotted the emeralds into their positions in the cannon.
*sigh* One of the biggest problems I have with the preboot is its handling of Shadow's entire story. I don't think Shadow ever got an actual chance to shine from his initial appearance until StH#171, when he had his whole "This is who I am" moment after exploring Gerald's digital diary. Everything about him, his entire backstory, was horribly neglected compared to his actually very rich and deep character arc from the games. This, above, is exactly what I'm talking about. In the game, it's implied that Shadow actually wins his final fight against Sonic (though Sonic obviously doesn't die from it), and then once the Eclipse Cannon is up and running, he moves into one of the ARK's observation rooms to quietly reflect on the past and watch the station crash into the planet. He doesn't snap out of it until Amy enters the room and her subsequent words trigger a flashback of Maria's real final wish. Furthermore, he's the only person in the cast who doesn't actually see the video of Gerald's execution or read his final diary entry. In other words, in the game, he comes back to his right mind organically, by remembering what his purpose is, while in the comic he apparently just got to watch a video telling him outright why he's wrong without him actually having to do the thinking that brings him back to reality. Seeing as Shadow is my favorite character in the entire franchise, this brushing-aside of one of the most important moments in his character arc irks me a little. But then again, I will still acknowledge that Ian wasn't really left a lot to work with here, and if anything the fault lies more with Karl Bollers and Kenders carelessly brushing past Sonic Adventure 2 in favor of their ongoing story about Robotropolis getting nuked or whatever.
Anyway, in the end, Shadow and Sonic went to the ARK's internal chamber that housed the Biolizard, and when it fused with the ARK to bring it crashing down to earth anyway, he and Sonic went Super and defeated it out in space, just like in the game. The game actually doesn't give a very clear reason why Shadow fell from orbit while Sonic was fine, but in the comic, it's shown that the act of teleporting the ARK back into orbit exhausted all his energy, resulting in the loss of his Super form early. As one of the above images shows, Sonic actually reached for him but was unable to catch him in time, hence his remark of not wanting to go through that again (even though realistically a fall from a five-story cannon is hardly going to do the same damage to Shadow as a fall from orbit). And that's it! As I said, the comic's adaption is incredibly stripped-down from the events of the game, but with so much of the cast missing, it kind of had to be. While I don't agree with all of Ian's decisions on how to adapt the circumstances while still retaining the basic gist of the story, I understand his ultimate conclusions, and in the end, they do work pretty well given how different the history of the world is in the comics versus the game. And despite Shadow not having a clear history with Rouge in the comics as he does in the games, Ian's finally saw fit to bring them together as a team in this issue, and they remain as such for the rest of the comic, including through the reboot.
But - hey, speaking of which, remember another adaption that was missing a few key plot points? Say⊠the first Sonic Adventure? Remember how the conclusion of Gamma's entire character arc was totally forgotten about and ignored? That would seem to imply that he's still out there somewhere⊠I wonder what he's up to nowadays. And for that matter, with the entirety of Sonic Heroes missing from the comics' timeline, where the heck is Omega in all this? Does he even exist? Gee, I wonder if we'll ever get to see these two important robot characters in the comic - like, say, next issue?

One of the things that endears Tails and Amy to me is the strength of self contrast the two of them used to have that sold a positive message of freedom to be yourself.Â
In Tailsâ case it was the fact that he was both athletic and highly nerdy in a time era when you were either one or the other (jocks vs. nerds anyone?) and promptly insulted for either. Jocks were frequently called dumb behind their backs for fear of physical retaliation while nerds were insulted for liking anything that wasnât scholastically approved in addition to enjoying science and were frequently physically abused because of their physical frailty. Yet, along comes Tails who is both a nerd and has the physical ability to put most jocks to shame. He married these two opposing extremes/contrasting archetypes in a character who strangely lacked any self confidence yet was always encouraged to do his best and embrace being him. He embodied the good of both athletic and intellectual ability while sympathizing with how no matter how good you are there is always insecurity. Heâs such a superb character in that regard to me.
Then you have Amy, who still faces the same stigmas over and over again that have been persistently present since she was introduced. If a girl is girly she must be frail and simultaneously is demeaning to women because she paints a stereotype that prevents woman from being equal with men. If a girl is a tomboy she is throwing away her femininity and trying to be a man to earn âfalse respectâ without recognizing her place. Iâm sorry, what? This type of rhetoric has always found its way to Amy conversations and as a result people ignore her spectacular contrast of being a girly-tomboy. She enjoys traditionally girly things like fashion, frilly things, thinking about the boy she likes, and simultaneously loves doing the things that the boys do such as going on adventures, taking part of the action regardless of the form, and so on. Like Tails, Amy takes two supposedly opposing extremes/contrasting archetypes and marries them into a character that has both harmoniously. And then on top of that she is absolutely over the moon happy when she is doing either traditionally girly or boyish activities and strongly emphasizes that these activities are enjoyable and can exist together harmoniously. The emphasis she brings to just doing what she likes and enjoying that has always been so inspirational in my opinion.
Unfortunately I have seen too many people demand for both of them that they pursue a unique identity by shaving off large chunks of who they are. I constantly see people wanting Tails to be the gadget guy because it matches his smarts and makes him distinct from his hero that he wants to be like, or bashing Amy for either being too girly or too boyish as it makes her a bad role model for girls by not being some elusive idea strong female character. Somehow these individuals fail to realize that Tails is awesome because he has brains and athletic ability, pretty much able to be the Spider-Man of the Sonic universe if just given the chance, and fail to understand that Amy is a great role model and powerful female character because she embraces who she is, what she wants to do, and lets absolutely no one tell her she canât be her even though they donât like it. It just eats me up when I see Tails not using his physical abilities or Amy stripped of her everything to be some model female clone who supports indescribable agendaâs that she better supports by just being her.
Tails and Amy are built from contrasting archetypes and are so much stronger for it with so much potential that is freely brought out just by traveling with Sonic. Tails can demonstrate his athletic ability just by keeping up, but interacting with Eggmanâs creations also brings out his nerdy side as he marvels at the docâs work. Amy has her girly side brought out as she tries to win over the boy of her dreams but also has her love of traditionally boyish things come out by her love of the adventures and excitement that she experiences by chasing after Sonic and partaking in his adventures.
Their is also the potential for a great relationship that exists between Tails and Amy as Sonicâs two biggest fans. Amyâs optimism and belief in the ability of others serves as a counter and foil to Tailsâ self-doubt while Tailsâ more reserved nature and abilities supports and foils Amyâs more reckless and spontaneous tendencies without necessarily the ability to keep herself out of trouble. The two support each other so well and are so heavily invested in Sonic and what he brings to their lives, as well as him as just a person and the most important person in the world to them. Itâs part of the reason I believe in a trio of Sonic, Tails, and Amy instead of Knuckles* as the relationship between the three and ability to partake in a never ending road trip is so harmonious and multi-directional. Sonic encourages Tails to be his best at everything he does and constantly provides encouragement by being a great big brother figure, while with Amy he may tease her, but with her personality his teasing encourages her to keep going and strive to get better and better creating a cycle of constant self improvement. Tails meanwhile supports Sonic both with his physical and intellectual abilities while Amyâs overflowing emotions, teasing, and persistence in chasing Sonic gives him reason to keep doing what he loves (running) and also face those emotions of his that traditional masculinity and boyhood naivete frowns upon. And as stated above there is the relationship of support that can exist between Tails and Amy that is also two way.
So to me at least, Tails and Amy are such great characters conceptually who are more often than not squandered due to any number of reasons. Itâs a shame to since I feel the ShĆnen Jump tenants of friendship, effort, victory easily work with them and the franchise and target demographic. Then of course just their shared desire to follow Sonic on his adventures, not just with each other but with the audience, combined with the caring nature they draw out of Sonic on a much more personally level than his strong sense of justice ever demonstrates. I think SEGA/Sonic Team isnât necessarily wrong that a trio setup best benefits the franchise, but where SEGA/Sonic Team looks at the profit margin imagery I look at the character narrative ability and think they focus on the wrong trio. Sure that trio brings instant familiarity which guarantees a quick sale, but I think that a solid narrative that fully embraces the relationships that can happen naturally and takes full advantage of that would bring the business so much more money just becasue something well crafted and believable that reaches well beyond just the gameplay/classic imagery crowd could bring back so much more. Sonic games have narrative after all, and when people come for a narrative good and natural character dynamics can it make memorable even if the narrative isnât so much. I feel personally that Tails and Amy add that to the Sonic/Eggman dynamic and find it a shame that who should have been a one off character prevents that from being because it seems to me at least that the short term dollar signs orbiting him blind SEGA/Sonic Team/everyone else from seeing how teh franchise can grow beyond its currently shriveled state.
*[I donât have anything against Knuckles but prefer him as the Guardian of the Master Emerald whose excursions away from Angel Island are duty related (like in the Japanese Chaotix manual) making his every appearance a question of whether or not he is an ally this time.]

I want to talk about something. Something very personal and dear to my heart. Before I do, however, Iâm going to ask right now that anyone stumbling onto this either takes the time to stop and read this in full, or carries on with their business, leaving this post untouched. Iâm not here to talk about shipping. Iâm not here to talk about which characters âareâ better and what is and is not âcanon.â I know the Sonic fandom is a toxic place filled largely with a young and/or aggressive audience. Thatâs fine. I was part of it once--on the younger end and adamant about who belonged with who.
Iâm not, anymore. Nor do I have patience for any silly comments regarding these points. This is not about the fandom. Itâs not about shipping and itâs not about blanket character statements.
This is about me, and how important the Archie Sonic comics were to me.Â
I donât remember how old I was when I first stumbled upon the world of Sonic, but I do remember what it was. The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehow used to air on one of Disneyâs many channels, and one day my brother saw it for the first time. He described it to me, and for a while I hadnât a clue what he meant. I remember trying to picture the series and my gosh, I was off the mark, design-wise. Regardless, I eventually did see the show and we used to watch it together in the morning. It was strange and silly and I didnât think much of it, but I loved Sonicâs catchphrases, the theme song and Tails.Â
Sometime after that, we found the OVA at a video rental store (remember those?) I know a lot of people out there donât think very highly of it, but I was young, and at the time didnât have any Sonic reference beyond the cartoon. Honestly, I preferred the OVA after watching it. It was darker than the show, with a different type of humor I must have found more appealing. It was also one of the first anime-type-things Iâd ever seen. I loved the design, this interpretation of Tails and Robotnik and I also quite liked Knuckles, having never seen him before.Â
I suppose I should state right now I was not allowed to play video games growing up, and the first computer I remember entering my home was in the very late nineties. Even then, we didnât play a lot of PC games, mostly Disney and things like Clue Finders and Freddie Fish. Â At some point I know we discovered a sega collection of old Sonic games, and Sonic R, I just canât remember when.Â
Anyway, after that, my next âSonic mediumâ came in the form of advertisements for Sonic Sega Dreamcast. I donât remember what I found so appealing about it, but I very much wanted to play this game. At this point I was pretty obsessed with the OVA and had acquired a lot of old toys relating to the Dreamcast game. Alas, twas not to be, and that was it for me and Sonic..
...until my brother picked up issue #110 for me at a store. Iâd never seen a Sonic comic before--had no idea such a thing existed, and believe me, I carried that thing everywhere. The art and story I found incredibly confusing, as did I the side story about Sally and the Sword of Acorn. Who was Sally? How did she know Sonic and Tails? I hadnât a clue, but I loved the art. A lot. If I were to go back and try reading that comic now Iâm pretty sure it would fall apart...the coverâs already been detached from the pages ^^;
Sometime later, I was in a comic book shop--my brother and I loved super heroes and we were starting to get into manga--and I found #114. In it, I discovered a sort of continuation to #110, as well as another beautifully illustrated story by J.Axer. Imagine my surprise to discover not only more characters Iâd never seen (Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor) but Amy Rose! Whom I knew, vaguely, from my toys and what I knew of Dreamcast. Like my previous comic, I loved this one so much it also fell apart. J.Axerâs art really fascinated me, I would trace and try to mimic it all the time. Artists today look down on such things, but through the course of doing what I did I broadened my horizons and grew to be a better artist.Â
It wasnât long after that I discovered Sonic SatAM. I was thrilled. Sally, Bunnie and everyone else in a TV show of their own? Why was I not aware of this? I must have rented those videos a thousand times. There were only two or three available, with a handful of episodes each, but I didnât care. I admit I was a bit saddened to see Tails as a mere side character, but that was the only drawback. I knew this story, or part of it--Sallyâs father, King Acorn, Iâd seen him before. I knew Knothole, Snively--I knew all of it. It was...amazing, quite frankly, and Iâm sure I talked about it a lot...to such a point I started annoying my brother. But again, did not care. I had all this insight and I couldnât get enough of it. So when I stumbled into another comic shop one day and found several back issues (#100, #103, #104, #105 and a few others) I knew there was no going back.Â
I admit, I canât remember if I found those back issues before or after I realized it was a monthly series, but either way, once I did, I became a steady collector for the next ten years. I ordered back issues, specials, drew art and comics regularly...even when I got older and my interests tapered, I still collected. This world was so in depth, the art--at least most of it--detailed and rich--and I loved all of the characters. All of them. To me, these comics were the meat enhancing the bare bones that was the video game universe. I preferred them to any other incarnation Iâd seen prior, and to be quite honest, I still do.
I canât speak for the video games now--I know theyâve grown and added characters and Iâm sure thereâs a lot to be said for that world--but the last video games I played were Shadow and Sonic Heroes. I did watch Sonic X for a while, I just...didnât care much for it. Shadow was the only one I felt matched the same thought, tone and creative care the comics had, and thatâs because they adapted his history pretty well, at least I think so.Â
The comics had their ups and downs; Iâm not the biggest fans of the #130s, but before the reboot, I really felt things were on a strong track forward. That said, I desperately feared the end of the Freedom Fighters...especially Sally Acorn. I remember actually crying about it to one friend. Since discovering her, Sally has been and remains my favorite Sonic character.Â
Please note again, my thoughts are my own and Iâm allowed to have them.
Now then...Sally Acorn. Her and Bunnie, fluctuating occasionally because Bunnie reminded me of my favorite X-men growing up (Rogue) but Iâd always come back to Sally. I know some people donât like her. Thatâs fine, not everyone is going to like every character. For me, though, Sally was one of few tomboy characters I knew of as a child. Yes she was feminine, but her femininity never overwhelmed her. She never felt over-romanticized, at least to me, and I really appreciated her modest design. It always bothered me female animal-type-characters were heavily dressed while the boys rarely wore full clothes. I liked that she broke that norm, it fit her personality.
Her relationship with Sonic felt very buddy-buddy, too, as much as romantic. Like they were really equals, despite differing status and power. Sallyâs sacrifice remains stapled to my memory; it is, I think, the defining nature of her character. Her âtrueâ character, I think: what comes out when itâs down to the wire. Iâm really impressed with how sheâs grown over the years. Not only how she chose to âendâ her life but how strong she became after breaking up with Sonic. I donât at all believe he held her down--and unlike some people I wasnât bothered by the slap. I just wasnât. I am, however, so happy she was able to become the Sally I grew up reading, the one I was first introduced to, once again before her final moments. Above all else, she and the Freedom Fighters proved to me you donât need special powers to be a hero.Â
Sonic may have been the ace in the hole, but every one of the Freedom Fighters brought something unique to the table. Watching them evolve over the years--from one universe to the next, powers, kids and otherwise--has been such a wonderful experience. Iâve laughed, Iâve cried, Iâve invested for so long...I only wish I were able to see how the original story intended to progress. Â I tried describing the comics to a friend recently, particularly where it left off before the reboot. He was incredibly surprised by how vast and dark it was.Â
Iâm going to confess I stopped reading shortly before Sonic rebooted the universes. I have read scans of that initial first issue, but once I discovered the story wasnât going to continue, I lost a lot of my drive to collect. Iâm not going to talk about Penders here--I think we all share mutual feelings in that regard--but in my opinion it was absolutely the defining nail on the coffin for this twenty+ year run. He remains one of few people I find incredibly difficult to forgive. Iâm a firm believer in forgiveness, but I grew up reading Sonic. I wanted very much to continue reading it, to see the characters I love continue growing. I canât do that, anymore. None of us can.Â
I donât expect to see Sally and the others carried over to IDW. The Sonic gaming side of things has evolved so much from where it started out: most readers today know of the Freedom Fighting crew through the comics only. If itâs true Sega sees a different creative vision for their franchise, I think this is finally goodbye...I said goodbye years ago, but itâs final now. The comics as I knew them are over. Another staple of my childhood, already reinvented and reimagined, gone for good. The chances a new generation will find the comics, reboot or otherwise, and meet and connect with the characters I loved the way I loved them, rather than through internet fodder they donât understand are fewer now and far between. That hurts me, it does. As a creative individual who held this so close to them, one thing Iâve always wanted is for people to discover something and experience what I did. Understand in their own way why myself and Iâm sure so many others held onto the comics as long as we did. Itâs not about shipping, itâs not about whatâs canon or whoâs better than the other. Itâs about something else entirely. For me, it was an expansive, inclusive and ever-changing world. It was following a show that made something equally impressive from so very little and nurturing it until it took on a life of its own.
Maybe Iâm a little dramatic, a little theatrical, but if you've stayed with me through this entire confession I hope you can forgive me. I loved these comics. They were a part of my life for a very long time, and Iâm going to miss them, indefinitely.
Thank you, Archie Team, for creating something wonderful. Thank you SatAM and yes, even thank you, Sega, allowing them the chance to give us these memories.

all the oc question because what even is sense of scale. (or, in case you do happen to possess a sense of scale: 2, 11, 20, 21)
you gotta live life fast and hard
a l l
you can use my /ocs page for background LORE
1. who's your favorite oc?
itâs michael. WE ALL KNOW THIS
itâs michael.
heâs terrible but my friend and I love him
2. who was your first oc?
I suppose Asterix? Counts? Iâve revamped her into ASTER but she was technically an OC back in the day, even if I did nothing with her but... imagine
here she is:
she is... well, she was a total mary sue type. oh my. had red hair with blue tips (or vise versa?) naturally, her mom tried to kill her but a kyogre saved her life and she grew up with team magma as an admin (her dad was leader) but her mom was an admin of team aqua. and she was raised by the legendary pokemon who could turn into human forms, and Ho-Oh was a god of the universe and took her under his wing...
and then she became a god thanks to genetic experiments and got her own planet and traveled the galaxy saving alien species from planets that were about to be destroyed. also preforming experiments on human children. she had tons of kids and they were all girls.
she also could turn into a purple wolf with black wings and feathers in the fur...
3. how many ocs do you have?
I did a count and I think like exactly 50 technically. most are termi, AR has 4, GA is like 8, MSQ is like 8
4. have you kept all of your ocs since the beginning?
Funny!! I almost always forget... about this but there was a character who was CUT from terminal!! both my head lore and like the book. Two charas were cut from book, actually: Roy (a conspiracy freak/revolutionary Mannie runs into and used to be friends with) and Tom (Christinaâs younger brother, who lived with her on Earth). Tom was someone I just realized wasnât needed, never showed up, never did anything, and didnât like. Roy was a minor part easy to cut.
but most of my OCs... like I said, MSQ is a revamped âtales of asterixâ, so most of those old OCs have been reborn. A few didnât get a chance to show up in MSQ but if there was a sequel, they would (Yggdrasil, Mary, Chaos)
Iâm gonna mention it next Q but I had a fandom OC once too.
5. are any of your ocs based off of a show/book you like? if so, who?
I donât really do fandom OCs!! I never write fanfiction or anything.
the MSQ charas mentioned above: like I said, MSQ used to be a crazy mary sue crossover adventure I lived in my head, so while the new charas are quite diff from their canon ones (enough that I can change the names and promise nothing is being stolen), Yggdrasil is from Tales of Symphonia and Chaos is from sonic the hedgehog. They were both OCs of mine in that they really had limited connection to canon LOL.
I also used to have an invader zim oc?? Her name was Kalat and she was weird I guess? I donât remember much, I do have some DOCs about it. she was an idiot who wanted friend- HEY WAIT A SECOND
6. what is the species of the majority of your ocs?
Because of Termi, the majority is certainly demon! I like angels waaaay more than I like demons, but termi takes place in hell, and most of the cast is demons. I have minority humans, actually. MSQ has some gods/aliens, but it would go Demons Angels Humans.
7. are any of your ocs an original species? if so, what's the species and who?
Not really. Only one would be Ikina from MSQ, but they are still based on... they call themself an âincubusâ because they are a sex-fluid shapeshifting creature which is energized through sex (and steals energy through their partner).
8. if you can, draw (oc name)!
heres an old doodle I found.... it is OBSCENE (iofiel holding hands with maalik)
9. write a few sentences as (oc name)!
People always seem to forget that Iâm the center of the goddamn universe.
Thatâs just a good line. This is a tough prompt IDK what any of my OCs would say. I need context.
âhi my name is iofiel angel of beauty and I love friends I just want to collect as many friends as I can have, and hug them, because friendship is magaical and funâ
10. are any of your ocs part of a story? if so, what is it about and who's in it?
TERMINAL TRILOGY is about mentally ill people being dicks to each other
MSQ/THE ASCENSION is about a very nonplussed kid being made into a god against her will
GA/GOOD ANGEL is about an angel who just wonders, why canât we all just get along?
AR/ANGEL RADIO is about one girl who is very, very alone, except for the weirdo aliens
11. do you have any twin ocs?
Just one! Michael and his sister Lucky.
I donât think Iâve drawn Lucky in a long time, not digitally at least. she has importance but is still very minor.
Chrstina is part of a set of triplets (two brothers, they are identitcal)
I donât have many sibling/family relationships in general!
12. are any of your ocs siblings?
Michael has a big family: Gabriel, Raphael, URiel, and Lucky
Christina is from a set of triplets, also has an older brother and two younger sisters
Kell probably had an older brother
Umbel has a set of sisters as main characters, thereâs siblings in Radicle too
13. what is the gender of the majority of your ocs?
Itâs legit 100% an even 50/50. well, like 49/51, slightly more dudes, and there is one NB chara. I always feel like I favor men but it turns out itâs quite even
14. make up a new oc right now based on (concept/show/color/etc.)!
EFF OFF
I actually really need to make a new OC soon for a new project coming up... but btoh my potential choices Iâve been having a hard time being creative lately.
I think sheâs going to be very average type, and itâs set in the real world too, which Iâve never written before? so itâs hard. good thing I like to steal from myself?
sheâs very book smart but hasnât done a lot. Got into an ivy league-ish school but isnât like, amazing, just smart enough to have made it. Kinda rich, some connections, so she kinda thinks thatâs why she made it. Wants to be weirder, do stranger things, but is very paranoid, anxiety.
but thatâs so generic!!! so boring. I need to figure a way to make her more interesting. the story is about secret societies and demons N stuff. maybe I should make her more of a wild card and base her on the side of me that loves cults
thatâs it. her secret obsession. her special interest: cults. she just loves conspiracy theories cryptids and CULTS. and ends up getting involved in real ones.
15. would you ever give up any of your ocs?
WHO IS ASKING
16. who is your oldest oc (age-wise)?
some of the MSQ ones are like immortal gods, so itâs probably.... Eii in that case.
Archangel Michael from GA would be about as old as the universe...
In Termi, one of the angels is likely to be about 230.
17. have you ever roleplayed as your ocs?
back in the day, I did have profiles! I donât think I ever used them, but slightly before I began writing termi I wrote up roleplay profiles for Christina and Percy from Terminal.
Here it totes is (note it is all not that canon for termi now):
Name: Percy Gender: MaleAge: Very old, though his physical age is around 19.Species: Angel (Seraph)Appearance: Percy is tall and lanky. He has slightly curly blonde hair and unnaturally blue eyes. He typically will dress either in a terrible sweater-vest and shabby coat, and favors very plain clothing styles. He also hates tight or uncomfortable clothes. He needs glasses to read, but would never admit it. He is a seraph, the highest sphere of angel below the Arch-angels, meaning he has way too many wings. Seriously, who thought six wings was a good amount? He is capable of hiding them, and typically flies with just one set. They are also light minty green.Personality: Percy can be really arrogant sometimes. He looks down one anyone he considers less then him, but often more in a piteous way. He does his best to be good and responsible, and especially feels the need to set a good example for the other angels. He is very unfamiliar with most human culture, as he only just recently came down to Earth for personal reasons...History: He has always served the Arch-angels, and he is content to do so. He doesn't have much of a history beyond that, as that is all his life has every known.
Name: Cris (Christina) Gender: FemaleAge: 17Species: Demon (lesser)Appearance: Cris used to have long, fluffy blonde hair. Now her hair shorter, and bright red. Her natural form includes curly black horns, somewhat red skin and a small arched tail, but she is able to change to a human form for disguise. Sometimes if she's surprised she will revert to demon again, but is quick to fix it. She likes hoodies, shorts and stockings, often in a very cliche black and red. She also likes to tie her hair up.Personality: She's pretty chill most of the time, but is easy to work up. She gets very excited by her favorite shows and books. Cris has a bit of a self-esteem issue, and occasionally feels really depressed about it. She's also sort of a wimp. And she loves cats.History: Cris was a human who sold her soul, but she doesn't really remember much of her life as a human. She knew she was blonde, and she knew she made a wish for attention. Everything else is missing. She doesn't really care much, and sort of likes being a demon. Because she's such a weak demon, she isn't very good at combat, and her job is basically an office job. It bores her, and she wants to get out (into sales, preferably). I also have an old profile of a pokemon OC who was part of team magma, and named Mack. I love magma.
18. how many of your ocs were adopted from someone else?
NONE
I MEAN I STOLE ARTEMIS FROM MY BROTHER
19. who is your least favorite oc?
Uh?? MIDORI from AR I just plainly have never liked. And Senya from MSQ. I just really donât like them, and not because they are total jerks.
Midori is a bit annoying, she was mildly a response to some tumblr stuff at the time, and is a weirdo, overly soft wiccan who just wants to put flower crowns everywhere... I am exaggerating but I donât know, she never clicked with me
Senya didnât exist in the MSQ lore, he just showed up one day and hijcked the plot.
mido
senya is on the right
20. which oc do you think has changed the most since you made them?
Michael I bet? He really wasnât much of anything in draft one of termi, he didnât show up at all, and later showed up but only spoke in questions, and was very annoying. over the course of radicle I figured out who he was a lot better.
Aster is a good example of someone who changed a lot too, but I donât count that as much. Mannie went from an angry ranting fool to a sad angry ranting fool I guess
21. who is your newest oc? optional- doodle them to show!
minor character in evergreen (terminal novella)
22. have you ever cosplayed your own ocs? if so, who?
no, but when I put on a button down and feel very tired, I think that counts as a closet cosplay of mannie
23. which oc do you think has affected you the most as you've grown with them?
michael................ my boy. heâs just kinda picked up a lot of my problems (EXAGGERATED) and evolved to carry and represent and deal with them. as mentioned, he didnât really matter until he did
24. have you gotten cosplayers of your ocs? if so, of whom?
who the hell can answer this with a âyesâ
25. do you have any ocs that you haven't drawn/written as/talked about in a long time? if so, who?
HMMMM??!??
I donât talk about my AR ocs very often, or my MSQ ones.
you know what was crazy in AR? Gavâs original name was Paschar. I donât remember where I got that from, but I changed it like 75% through with the book. Frigging paschar.
Eii and Ikina (left, right) are MSQ charas. Eii is based on Mew, Ikina is from Ho-Oh. They are... quite different from the original pokemon basis, I am legally obliged to note, but just wanted to say.
Eiiâs role in the story was a total surprise, and a weird one. Writing blind lends itself to some odd plottwists.

Hello Mayra! It's been so long since I left the Sonic fandom and now I'm back! Are u still taking requests? Because I'm always looking for the Boom!Team discovering Amy and Sonic's secret relationship. Sadly, I didn't find any of these. I'm a big fan of your work and I hope you can write this! đđ
(x) Permission given by the artist! Please support them! (Authorâs note: If you or your art friends are willing to let me credit your art for âpreview imagesâ to my prompts, I would be deeply appreciative! Please feel free to message me if you have conditions or terms, Iâm willing to follow any requirements for credit links!)
Welcome back~
Iâm honored and proud to have you come to me for this mighty need. Iâm always open to prompt requests, yes! :D Thank you for thinking of me, my friend!
Prompt:
Sticks stared long and hard at Sonic and AmyâŠ
Tails was busy with buying some half-off spare parts for different âmini-projectsâ he had been working on before examining two of them and paying her no mind.
ââŠ.Hey, TailsâŠâ She squatted, keeping her arms down in front of her as she continually watched the two interact.
In the distance, Sonic was helping Amy shop, or rather⊠he was to âcommentâ on each thing she tried on or pointed too.
She couldnât help but notice howâŠÂ âgigglyâ⊠the two were around one anotherâŠ.
âI think somethingâs off with Sonic and Amy. Steve isnât this good at mocking a laugh.â She narrowed her eyes more, ducking her head like an animal stalking itâs prey from a few feet away. âAnd⊠Iâm pretty sure he canât clone himself eitherâŠâ
She folded her arms and shot herself upright, startling Tails out of his âhappy placeâ as he turned to her, half annoyed.
âAt least youâre not raving about something paranormalâŠâ he sweat-dropped, before turning to also stare at Sonic and Amy.
Sonic leaned over a counter, and pointed to something for a change, which drew Amyâs immediate attention as she seemed to excitedly hold it up and over him, as if seeing if the clothing worked with him or not.
He proudly put his hands to his hips, before she shook her head and put it back, pulling out something else and making him look disappointed and annoyed.
âSeems about right.â Tails nodded, and turned with a kind smile to Sticks, though skeptical of her perception skills. âAmyâs still pulling Sonic around the market, and heâs still not any help when it comes to her decisions.â
âNot that.â she took a hand to his chin, pulling him to look harder at the two. âTHEIR FACES!â
âH-huh?â Tails was even more uncomfortable now, before actually⊠seeing what she meant.
The typical act of the duo suddenly subsided as Sonic spun off and came back with something actually decent, and Amy held the article up to herself and smiled, before excitedly lifting a leg slightly up and moving some of her hair.
ââŠ.AmyâŠ?â Tails raised an eyebrow, and Sticks let go of his chin, seeing he had finally caught on.
âItâs not just her- Sonicâs got the loonies too!â She pointed back, as Tails put down his gears and other robotic pieces to place a hand over to his forehead and shield the blazing sun from his eyes.
Having clearer vision, he suddenly stepped back in shock when he saw Sonic actually acting as if he was ENJOYING helping Amy out!
âWoah! That IS weird!â Tails worried, âWe have to warn them!â
âBut whoâs the impostor, and whose our friend?â
Tails had to stop a second and think that one through, realizing he couldnât just run up and say that Steve- or Morpho- was one of them.
He put a hand to his chin. âW-well⊠just cause theyâre acting nice to each other and not arguing doesnât exactly mean-â
Suddenly, as if on cue, Knuckles approached the scene.
âHey, have you guys been watching Comedy Chimp lately? Haha! His new episode had Amy dating Sonic! Hahaha! As if!â he fanned out a hand, âEveryone knows sheâs too in love with adventure and kicking butt to think about that!â
As he billowed a laugh, Sticks and Tails shared a confused expression, before Sticks looked back with hand-binoculars.
âUh oh.â
âWh-what now?â Tails put his hands up to his chattering teeth, as if biting his nails in suspense.
âIf theyâre actually falling in love for real this time⊠T-that means theyâre going to ditch us for each other! And itâs worse cause weâre friends with BOTH of them! thatâs like⊠losing two friends in one catastrophe!â
Tails panicked, seeing Sonic ditching him for Amy, or vise-versa, and having delusions of lonely scenarios play through his mind of them having fun without him.
He huddled down a moment, whimpering at being left behindâŠ
âPull yourself together,⊠wait! Cower in terror! She just hugged him!â
âThatâs nothing new. Phew.â Tails wiped his forehead, getting up as Knuckles looked concerned, still not sure what was being discussed fully.
â-and he returned it!â
â-WHAT!?!?â Tails bumped his head against the roof of the shelter.
âThatâs it!â He flew up away from the two.
âW-where are you going?â Knuckles inquired, scratching his head. âI thought we were still narrating Sonic and Amyâs every move.â
âIâm going to find Eggman! If anyone knows where Steve is, itâs him!â he flew off, âKeep me in tabs!â
âRoger that.â Sticks saluted, suddenly moving two fingers over her cheeks and having war-paint on.
She slowly slipped down and then reappeared up on top of the adjacent marketerâs roof.
âKnuckles!â she whispered, and then started making code-signals with her hands.
ââŠUhhâŠâ he looked confused, before shrugging. âThe governments found their lost puppies and my lamp has fallen and canât get up? OH NO! Lampy!â he suddenly darted off, âDonât go towards the light! Even if youâre made of it! Ah-haha!!!â he cried in shrieks as he raced off in a frenzy, while Sticks just face-palmed herself and continued to watch.
Tails was heading to Eggmanâs place, destroying the âguard robotsâ on the way while Sticks continued to play secret agent.
âFox tails, weâve got an update. Over.â Sticks spoke into a walkie-talkie, fully in her army get up.
âRoger that! Whatâs the status? Over.â Tails pulled out his communicator on his wrist, and waited a moment as he hid from more guard robots behind a large rock formation.
âTheyâre still gigglingâŠâ she drooped her eyes in annoyance, watching Sonic and Amy sitting and eating Meh Burger, before Amy seemed to get a little shy with Sonic and they both looked away from each other. âItâs growing worse⊠awkward tension is building and Iâm sensing a detonation in three.. two⊠-â
Amy suddenly suggested that Sonic sit on her side, and although he hesitated a second, he scratched behind his head and came closer, scooting up to sit beside her on her side as the two continued to laugh again.
Sticks spoke rapidly into the walkie-talkie.
âI REPEAT. PERSONAL SPACES HAVE BEEN BREACHED! Theyâre⊠ugh⊠I dare not say. Sitting right next to each other!â
âOh no! If Sonicâs Steve, then Amy will be heartbroken if she finds out heâs been playing her! Or yet, it could be Amy whoâs Steve. In which case, Sonicâs not gonna hear the end of it from meâŠâ he snickered at the last bit, before he suddenly shivered a moment, âAlso, that would mean Steve has a weird fetish with cosplayâŠâ
âNo time to contemplate that now!â Sticks watched as the two got up, and Sonic offered her his arm. âTheyâre continuing to cross barriers! Youâve gotta do something!â she called into the walkie-talkie, speaking urgently, and pulling it straight up to her mouth. âLIVES ARE AT STAKE!â she rolled to hide in a bush, where Dave walked up with some trash, looked around, and dumped it in it.
He whistled, rocking on his heels and turning his back to it, before tossing the empty garbage bag, dusting off his hands, and walking back to âworkâ.
âOhh~ Free stuff!â Sticks could be heard, her tone sounding genuinely excited.
Tails worried once again, sweating as he dashed into the fray without a second thought, taking out robots before rolling into the slow-dropping entrance door to Eggmanâs lair.
He pulled a âIndiana Jonesâ as he reached back for his lucky wrench before the door closed.
Eggman was laughing with Morpho, who was in turn, playing Fuzzy-Puppy buddies with him.
âI never knew a game with like- so much simplistic and adorable feel could be like- my true passion in life, man.â
âRight!? Not only does it get the blood boiling in rage at seeing your own cute, little fuzzy buddy getting destroyed! But you also get the undying bragging rights over a sensational assault on someone ELSEâS cute, little fuzzy buddy!â he truly seemed evil with every wordâŠ
The two laughed as Tails rolled in, looking serious and worn for wear, before seeing Steve and suddenly looked shocked.
âSteve!?â
âUgh, like, Morpho⊠itâs like.. retro, but not too nostalgic with no real-time feel man.â Steve shook his head, gesturing his hand with his description as Eggman seemed to nod with his logic.
âYeah, yeah⊠although, Steve is a classic.â He shrugged.
âFor who, man?â Steve looked insulted. âIâve only been here for like- 22 minutes! And those were different days!â
âI think that just shows how memorable Steve is.â Eggman squinted his eyes and leaned forward just a bit, but with his glasses on, it only looked like his eyebrows narrowed down a bit on his glasses.
âT-then⊠whose playing Amy or Sonic? Which oneâs the phony!?â Tails put his hands to his head, as Eggman lifted a knowing hand up.
âDonât you know?â
âK-know what? As if you know anything!â Tails accused, before looking away.
âOhhh~ Look at the hotshot. Thinking heâs already lost his best friend to love. Canât even picture that the two of them already worried about that and so formed a secret truce of silence to date behind everyoneâs back, huh?â
âW-wa-wa-wait, what?â Tails shook his head rapidly.
âTails! Weâre done for! All is lost!â Sticksâs voice suddenly came on, as Tails looked down to his wrist.
âTheyâve⊠theyâve⊠uhhhh⊠the unthinkable.â
âBrah⊠you donât thinkâŠâ
Suddenly, Steve and Eggman both got out of their chairs, growing curious about the transmission.
âN-no⊠they wouldnât have⊠they couldnât have have! ⊠could they?â
âHave had have????â Steveâs face spoke a thousand words.
Eggman withdrew his hand to his mouth, biting his nails.
Steve looked excited as suddenly they all in unison said-
âKISSED?â - âMARRIED?!â - âNOSE NUZZL-âŠ.oh.â
The three all looked at one another.
âOh, Steve.â
âMORPHO, DUDE. And who just kisses a girl he first married?â
âNo!â Tails shook his head, âSTICKS!â
âWorse!â
They all held their breaths.
A dark, underlying groan was suddenly heard.
âCuddledâŠâ
Dramatic shots of each of Tails, Eggman, and Steve-oâs faces were shown in pure shock, terror, or loss of hope. One showing Eggman on his knees, looking up from the darkness into light as Tails pulled the sides of his face in anguish and Steve took the pose of The Thinker.
The cast all met later as Amy and Sonic sat on a couch⊠looking to each other before sighing and looking at their friends- and Eggman- all gathered together in Sonicâs hut.
âWe think we owe everyone an explanation.â
Sticksâs had two patches over her eyes. âYouâre telling me.â she ripped them off, before banging her foot on the floor from the agony of striping them off.
âUhh⊠brahs? I know this is like- a family matter or whatever? But can I come in too?â
âWeâd also like permission to-â Orbot tried to lift himself up to the window as Steve pulled some of the blinds away.
âI mean, I- the mighty Morpho, feel like after 22 minutes Iâve really become like- part of the shindig and-â
Knuckles was given the nod to walk over and close the blinds even further down.
âWe all know youâve had a lot of questions latelyâŠâ she put a hand to Sonicâs, who seemed nervous as the team all waited for his response.
âSonic..?â Amy leaned her head down towards him, as he nervously fidgeted.
âW-well.. um⊠uhhhh⊠yeah.â he looked away, before finally swallowing his pride and looking back at Amyâs hand.
He⊠hesitated⊠but put his own on top of hers.
Gawking in amazement, the four all had different reactions. Eggman was having a fiesta behind the couch while Sticks went wild with âI knew it! I knew it! I knew it!â and Tails looked a bit hopeless while Knuckles looked confused at everyoneâs reactions.
âWhat are we all reacting too?â He suddenly grabbed a pot and smashed it against his head. âHaha, I donât care. Any excuse to act wild and crazy is okay by me! Wooo!!â He crashed and broke the couch. âFurniture wrestle!â He tapped out the couch.
âTailsâŠâ Sonic looked down at his buddy and moved away from Amy, kneeling by his side.
ââŠBut this means⊠youâll ditch us all.â Tails turned his head away. âI thought we were bros for lifeâŠâ
âAnd youâll always be my bro, Tails.â Sonic tenderly, with some sensitivity, held a hand to Tailsâs shoulder, before turning to the others acting crazy too.
Amy was talking to Sticks as the couch seemed to have somehow pinned Knuckles down, Eggman calling a fowl and then tweeting things online about Sonic and Amy.
âI⊠was⊠so⊠right⊠AlphaShadamy4550! HMph! SEND.â he snickered evilly. âNow to crush the other hopeless saps dreams!â he clenched his fist up before Amy took the phone, dropped it daintily, and smashed it with her hammer.
âJust because Amyâs my girrr⊠my girrrrrllllffffâŠ.FFFFFFFâŠ.Ah, you know. Doesnât mean we wonât hang out with you guys!â
âYeah! I canât stand Sonic 24/7 anyway.â Amy rolled her eyes, as Eggman picked up the pieces of his phone and then ordered-
âROBOTS-!!!!â
And the old, daily routine was back on again, as if nothing changed.
Sonic hung out with Tails, finishing up the last of the robots, as Tails took the X-Tornado and him for a spin.
âSo⊠what made you suddenly change your mind?â Tails smiled up to Sonic, reassured that his friend wasnât going anywhere.
Sonic, arms folded, shrugged and then looked off into the distance on his side of the plane.
ââŠI donât know⊠she kinda just said we were, I guess.â He scratched the side of his head.
âW-wa-wait, you never actually asked her out?â
âNo. Come to think of it. She never really asked me out. We just⊠started⊠how would you call it?â he looked deep in thought.
âBREACHINGâŠBARRIERSâŠ!!!â
The two looked down.
Sticks was holding a megaphone and a device to hear voices miles away on her forehead, a dish-like receiver, and a Meh-burgerâs trash cup on her ear.
âEh, I put treasure to good use.â she winked to the camera.
Authorâs notes:
This was fun. I wanted to be creative at 5 in the morning and this is what you get xD Tails worried about being abandoned, Sticksâs end triumphant (itâs a must, honestly) and Knuckles not realizing heâs always wrong or out of the loop. Eggman and Steve were fun to write! I just enjoyed showing the drama of increasing terror from Sticks and Tails, the ones truly seeing whatâs what, but not whatâs what. haha. I donât know, but I think I like this one :)
