@phoebester if the captains of your ship, especially if they so happen to be the creators of the show, add to the conflict rather than try to validate the message ‘different strokes for different folks’ it definitely sours my view on how I perceive their favored endgame. Especially if it’s already as cliche in a stale way rather than a comforting way like Kat.aang is. Like it’s one thing if fans act super entitled and are hostile to other shippers. But if the creators get themselves involved and contribute to the antagonism in the fandom it’s a whole other thing entirely and it’s infuriating they get a pass for it. They’re not being sassy or quirky- they’re just d*cks
tbh anytime Bry.ke says anything to devalue/discredit Zutara all it does is make me loathe Kat.aang even more

More thoughts because I apparently need to draft an entire backstory before I can write a "drabble" (which will definitely not be a drabble), aka, more lore ideas for a show that's already been picked over with a fine-tooth comb a million times, but here we are, years late, Starbucks in hand, as the old meme goes.
At the end of the whole Weirdmaggedon fiasco, Ford makes his hilariously inept proposition for him and Stan to go sailing the Arctic (Ford's heart was in the right place, but this is not how you want to introduce the possibility of fulfilling your childhood dream to your estranged and traumatized brother of 30+ years).
Tumblr media
Anyway, Ford's lack of social skills aside, we know the general location of where they're heading from Ford's fancy-pants watch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, they have a few options to get to the Spooky in the Arctic.
Take the Panama Canal
Take the Northwest Passage
Start their trip from the East Coast
Option 1: The Panama Canal, aka, a legitimate, if unlikely idea
Tumblr media
While private vessels can cross the canal, it looks like the cost of doing so runs about $2500, maybe not an issue for the Pines twins by the end of the show, but in addition to this, crossing the Canal requires 4 linemen, who Stan and Ford would have to hire. My instinct says they wouldn't be so interested in this, at first. Maybe Ford's fixation on the Arctic was just an excuse, but given his canonical enthusiasm, I doubt he would want to deviate too far from that course. Likely the Stan twins come back later do the Canal, on their way back to Oregon. Maybe.
Option 2: The Northwest Passage, aka Death
Tumblr media
A route through the Arctic has been the dream of many an explorer for centuries. In recent times, mostly due to global warming, the Northwest Passage has become a sliver of a option to get from West to East. Territorial and political disputes aside, it's still a wildly unsafe option, and one I imagine Ford would love to give a go at, considering all the lore surrounding the Franklin Expedition. Stan, however, would vote this down immediately. He'd like for him and his brother to live to see sixty. And not resort to cannibalism. At least not immediately.
Option 3: Setting Off From Jersey, aka, You Can Go Home Again (But Not For Too Long)
Tumblr media
Our final option is for the Pines twins to set off on their adventure from the good old East Coast. Aside from the narrative symmetry, it's also the most practical option. This leaves us with some tantalizing loose ends. Do Stan and Ford build their boat in Oregon and then haul it cross-country? (And what a trip that would be). Or would they have it shipped and meet it later? (Realistic, but boring). Or maybe they go back East and build/order/buy the boat there. And by there, I do feel like there's no other place they could go through with this idea than Jersey. Now, they can't go from the major ports (the Port Authority Ports of New York and New Jersey, which are mainly located in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Newark, and...Bayonne). But! There are a bevy of slips and marinas up and down the Jersey coastline, perfect places to build/buy/refurbish a vessel (and a relationship). A place to leave a lifetime of ill-will behind and start anew.
This makes me think about Stan and Ford, back in Jersey after all that time, probably not too far from where they grew up. It would be a wonderful setting to explore some kind of character piece (especially if they go on some of bonkers road trip to get there) and narratively, it just fits too well.
There's no real thesis to this analysis, aside from the idea that Stan and Ford likely began their journey in the exact place they ended it so long ago. As I said, narrative symmetry and all that jazz.

Wait for you to know that the hornsent npc was involved in the gruesome shaman/jars genocide , that information about him ( the description of his mask) shocked me tbh ...
Okay, first I didn't mind this ask because I am yet to have him drop his set in the game and there is time for everything, but today I woke up to someone else screaming this information at me so fdshfdsh I decided to check the descriptions and the character!
Tumblr media
I have noticed that his mask looks like that of the guys whose asses I kicked in Bonny Village, just wasn't investigating. But here are the other things from his equipment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His legs and arm piece are also exclusive to him! So, this is something I've concluded about it
1) All pieces of his clothes are exclusive to him, except for the mask, whereas Potentates enemies wear ONLY this mask! I'd say that the guy is wearing this mask for it's functionality: "to ward off thoughts of impurity, doubt, temptations, and other wickedness". So, him and Potentates are wearing it as sort of charm, although (and most likely) for different reasons! Hornsent guy wears it so nothing distracts him from revenge! Like... it is just a headwear they have in their culture, just that Potentates """need""" it the most.
2) He is not using their trademark cleaver weapon! Moreover, the description of his trademark weapon, Falx, makes it look like he only stepped on the path of murder to begin with specifically for revenge, rather than having already been wielding a weapon and doing a bit of rebranding!
3) He mentions Belurat and eating the soup from there long ago! (you can get scorpion soup from Grandam by talking to her while wearing Divine Beast's mask and then give it to him) His starting position is also in Gravesite Plains next to the archway that leads you there, which is very distant from Bonny Village. Bonny is a short walk away from the Shadow Keep while the Hornsent seems to be journeying to it, all the while he tracks Miquella's crosses (beginning of course from Gravesite Plains)
4) Bonny Village is just weirdly intact and doesn't show clear signs of Messmer's invasion. It more so resembles the abandoned villages in the Lands Between. The Hornsent, however, lost his mother, wife and child to the invaders.
5) From timeline standpoint, there likely were no more shamans left to butcher by the moment Messmer turned in and his family was burnt!
Tumblr media
fjhhfdhds I mean headcanon what you like, I just personally can't agree less and this is my reasoning! Also:

soo.... are we just going to ignore mothchirp's "you have my mother's eyes" comment. about the fox. this feels suspicious
The Taker, a fox, just so happens to have the same eye colour as Crane and the triplets mother.
Moth often notices small details about others and he has a pretty good memory, so he remembers what their mother's eye colour was.
He was staring straight into the fox's eyes so, aside from freezing in fear, his first thought was "those eyes are familiar"
The Taker is a full body, not a patchwork, so it's not actually her eyes.

Cersei and Dany have more parallels than Cersei and Sansa yet Sansa always gets compared to Cersei whilst Dany gets to stand on her own :/
(Sorry for taking ages to answer this.)
The way I see it, GRRM actually wants us to see and compare the three. To see them, in a way, as a triad:
Tumblr media
It's no secret that George loves to use the rule of three (I talk about it a little bit here.) The way I see it when it comes to Cersei/Dæny/Sansa is to compare their ruling styles, especially since they're the strongest candidates to wield power by the end of the series (I'm talking exclusively about book canon, but we can take show canon into consideration since they are the last three big female characters wielding power by the final season.)
At first, Cersei and Dæny are foils, in a way. Cersei calls herself Queen (which she is, first Queen Regent/Dowager Queen, by being Robert's wife, then Queen Mother by being Joffrey and Tommen's mother). Dæny, however, in the beginning, rejects the title of Queen, saying that she's a Khaleesi. As the series progresses (specifically since she's -at least to her knowledge- the last Targaryen), she uses both titles: rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Khaleesi. So, this would be where the contrast stops working when it comes to these two ladies: they both call themselves Queen, but most importantly, they seek that title because they're motivated by power and the desire to have the Iron Throne. Sure, their motivations are not exactly the same, but they can be boiled down to one word: survival.
(I've spoken about characters motivated by power in the quest for the Iron Throne and what the narrative does to them in show canon, but I can't find the posts, so I'm sorry.)
Now, what part does Sansa play in all of this? Well, we're told in the first book that she's meant to be Queen. After all, she was promised to the prince of the Seven Kingdoms. And she wants to be Queen... until Joffrey orders the execution of Ned. Then, we notice a change in Sansa: she's not interested in the games of intrigue, in the subterfuge. It can all be encapsulated in this quote: "If I am ever Queen, I'll make them love me."
Cersei thinks the best way to rule is to make the people fear you more than they could ever fear the enemy. And that's precisely what she does during her time in power. So, she rules by fear.
Dæny is benevolent to those suffering injustice. But she's also severe regarding those she disagrees with or thinks have interests that go against hers. She is not forgiving. In my eyes, she also has a fatal flaw - she's not interested in the day-to-day tasks that come with being a ruler, as shown in her stint in Meereen. She also relies on her dragons and the Targaryen legacy to instill fear in those who don't want to submit to her. She rules by good faith when it comes to the marginalized and outpowering the powerful with her dragons and armies. So, she rules by power and, to some extent, fear.
Sansa is benevolent with people. She knows what is expected of her as a Lady while in King's Landing. In the Eyrie, she learns to run a household and the day-to-day tasks that come with running a Great Keep like the Eyrie. But that's not all she learns throughout the series. She understands the importance of politics and how to exercise that power. She also understands people's importance; let them be Lords, Ladies, Common Folk, or bastards. She sees their value regarding of station. Also, since the end of the first book, she doesn't get fooled by the nobility; she's more distrustful of their true intentions, and that distrust makes her read each person she encounters more carefully, which, in time, will make her a keen politician (all in all, and this is what sets her apart from Cersei and Dæny, she's not actively seeking to rule. And, when it comes to the rule of three, the last link is the one that differs from the other two and, for that reason, is the successful one.) Sansa is compassionate with those deserving of compassion and sometimes with those who are not, but she's never cruel like Dæny can be or vengeful like Cersei is. This is not to say that she bends to the will of others because she doesn't. She stopped doing it back in King's Landing, starting with small acts of defiance. In the Eyrie, she's on a journey to finding her voice. So, she rules by compassion and observation.
Now, how does the rule of three apply in this instance? Let's first define what the "rule of three" is:
The rule of threes is a writing principle that suggests that three elements, such as events or characters, are more humorous, satisfying, and effective than other numbers. Audiences of texts in this format are also more likely to retain the information conveyed to them. This is because having three entities minimizes the amount of information needed to create the pattern, combining both brevity and rhythm.
By giving us different styles of ruling/approaches to power in threes, GRRM is making sure those ways stick with the readers. He's making it known that the approaches to power and ruling are important for the endgame: this factor will contribute to who ends up in power at the end of the story.
One could argue that the use of the rule of three in comparing Cersei, Dæny, and Sansa is rhetoric: he's comparing three different ruling styles, and we, as the readers, can decide who might be better suited for the title of Queen based on the rhetoric the characters present. (I speak about the difference between Dæny and Sansa - and Jon - as figures of authority here and here. Keep in mind that those metas explore the dynamics of the characters in the show.)
Cersei doesn't give a shit about anyone but herself and her family. She rules with an iron fist and doesn't hesitate to annihilate anyone threatening her power. She rules alone.
Dæny cares about people and uses her power (her dragons) to achieve some of her more altruistic goals, but at the end of the day, those goals are not entirely altruistic since they also serve her. She also uses that power to intimidate and cause fear. To top it all off, she relies heavily on the power that her dragons represent, even though she tries to use politics as a more subtle way to solve problems, but she realizes that if she wants to change the world as she wishes, she needs brute force. She needs her dragons. She uses both power and fear in any situation, whether it is good or bad. She, too, rules alone, even though she has people giving her counsel. (Though that can be explained with Targaryen exceptionalism, in a way. But that's a whole other thing, and this has gotten too long already)
Sansa, on the other hand, is more surgical in her approach. She sees the value in relationships and working together. She sees the value of people and the importance of day-to-day tasks. She relies on her powers of observation and what she's learned in court to solve problems. She rules by understanding: by understanding that she has to work together with people in areas she's lacking and by understanding the potential of each person around her. She rules by working together with those around her.
In conclusion, Cersei and Sansa have always been foils to each other, and that's been set from the get-go. You could say the same about Cersei and Dæny, too. But, as the series progresses, the lines dividing Cersei's style of ruling from Dæny's start to blur, leaving this triad somewhat like this:

if i can be so real for a minute, the saltburn fandom is not very large and not very old... and yet i have had SO many odd convos. usually about farleigh but sometimes about other stuff. i've been called obnoxious so many times for mentioning everything that comes with farleigh's character but it's in the movie for a reason, man. i'm venting. "what does XYZ have to do with this?" bro idk maybe the fact that it was included in the movie, therefore i'm going to bring it up?
class, privilege, sexism, escapism, etc. are all important parts of this movie. so is race. i've gotten the most heat for talking about race and white privilege which is... not surprising tbh. sometimes i just want to be serious when everyone wants to be silly. if your silliness makes you apathetic to the rhetoric of the film and how some of it should be taken seriously... man. ouch. damaging to the psyche tbh.
a lot of the fandom is rly cool but ackkk i've been on my toes. i've been encountering some irl felix cattons...

I get the idea of Demon Mama being a milf but also I imagine personally all Sebastian's dorkiness came directly from her. And no one would ofc believe it at first glance. Because. Pretty demon lady. 😳
You're actually pretty right about her being dorky because she is 😭 She's also the embarrassing kind of dorky (to Sebastian at least), like she's the type of mom who'd go up to you, start talking to you like she's known you for years and then go "you know see my son as a baby" and pull out a baby picture album

I apologize for the lack of content.
(little vent abt how I've been lately)
I've spent so long connecting my personality to my art that I've lost my own self-worth and meaning to my craft. it's becoming impossible to distinguish my own happiness from that satisfactory feeling I get when I'm creating, and no matter the manic state I'm in, I can not physically create as much as I'd need to truly be happy, to feel like I'm worthy of rest, or even a fucking break. the pressure to make art is pushing me further from art itself, and it's really the only thing I'm good at. I'm not trying to be self-loathing, I truly have no other attributes that I could capitalise on. nothing that could put dinner on my table or a roof over my head. depression and burnout have become a staple in my life, and this stretch has shown me how careful I have to be with myself. I used to think I was fragile only when being handled by others, but I'm realizing now how I can't trust even myself to be gentle. I'm overwhelmed with the thought that this time in my life should be spent making memories, smth to pass on to my children, but instead, it's being wasted nailed to my bed. too stuck on things that don't really matter in the long run, but even knowing that doesn't make everything suddenly better. somehow, it makes it exponentially worse.
I need help. I can say that and mean it more now than ever, I need help. not only do I not have the income to seek it, but there are very few resources in my area to help.
in all honesty, I am lost. ik this won't last forever, but the light is dimming. I'm scared to ask too much from the people in my life, and Idk where that might lead me. so hello internet, how r u?
