I [love/am baffled by] this scene because Garmadon pretends to betray Wu for no reason and it's just played perfectly straight.

Garmadon spends most of the next episode just trolling the Ninja, so ofc he'd do the same for his brother. It's just funny that the scene seems to be dramatic and then... Wu is fine and Garmadon goes and peacefully helps the Ninja.

Cryptid Batman but… While at first it was all tricks, simply fear and shadows and tricks of the minds, that doesn’t stay the case. It’s barely noticeable at first, the way the grunts deepen to something akin to growls by the time he takes a small child from the circus in. It’s not too alarming when their vision in the darkness gets better or their skin feels as cold as a corpse the moment they step into the streets. 

It’s hard to explain to Jason when his own teeth begin to sharpen and nails become talons the first time he puts on that domino, when it almost seems to meld with his skin into downy feathers. 

It’s hard to stay in denial with each new clan member about how much Gotham has sank Its claws into their bodies of mortal flesh and bone, how much they’ve shifted from the forms they were born with.

regency au moment where anakin hears that one of obi-wan's current suitors has given him flowers after they shared an almost scandalous and indecently long promenade along the river, so he stroppily buys and sends over a very expensive horse for obi-wan as a gift. just, you know. in case he wants to take any other long walks. now he has a horse instead. with flowers woven through the mane. but it doesn't mean anything. just that anakin is better than any other suitor obi-wan could ever have. but whatever. they're friends now, it's fine. etc etc

"Welcome! Welcome one and all To everyone's favourite Show!!"

Gamemaster, A villain with the personality of a gameshow host, greeted the captive audience, also consisted of the city's villains, in the studio. His grin is wide, showing his surprisingly clean and shiny teeth to the audience.

"Today, we have a very special guest for today! Some...nasty little bird that I've been dying to catch for some time....and now, it's finally happening!" He squealed, his hands fidgeting intensely, like a kid about to receive his newest toy. He grabbed the end of the Fabric covering the cage in the middle of the stage. "Give a round of applause for their beloved hero... STARSTRUCK!~"

As he pulled out the fabric, he revealed that, indeed, the villain had caught one of the heroes of the city....Starstruck. A girl, not older than 23, that seemed to be like a "Magical girl"...her puffy and kinda cute purple dress with white stars on the end of the skirt, and her long black hair contrasted with her distasteful expression. Her eyes filled with impotence...and absolute rage.

The public gasped, and Gamemaster got closer to the cage, his smile more deranged and prideful.

"I must say, my dear, you are so much better when you're trapped here and not jumping around trying to destroy my plans..." He cooed, caressing the girl's hair softly before putting a collar on her neck, much to the hero's confusion. "Don't you think so, honey? You like being trapped like the little doll you are, don't ya?" He teased as he kept caressing her hair.

"I'd be happier if you would just drop the theatrics and let me beat your ass, like I always do!" She barked, her smug and hotheaded attitude in broad daylight. "You poor, pathetic and insufferable piece of-" However, her insults were interrupted by her screams, as Gamemaster, with a click on a button, the collar in her neck began BUZZING! Sending shock waves all over her.

After what felt like an eternity, the villain stopped.

"I'm so, So Sorry...that was the wrong answer!" He faked an apology, his voice filled with venom and condescension. "But it's ok, my dear, you can get it right next round! And maybe, if you get them right, I might Let you go! ...Maybe."

Starstruck was about to say something again, but, as she saw the laughing audience and the villain's eagerness to push that damn button again...she realised that maybe aggravating the bad guy wasn't such a good idea.

So, she just nodded, and as the Gameshow Host was announcing the next part of the "game", she thought about how she probably needed her team to come and rescue her...

This will be a long game...

I was thinking, and I came up with a Kaiju No. 8 couple, and it will not leave my head:

Hakua Igararshi and Aoi Kaguragi

I initially thought it was funny for one of the tallest people in the series (Aoi) be with someone just a little bit taller than him. As I kept thinking about them, I realized they'd have an interesting dynamic as a couple. Hakua being a cheery uber friendly gal and Aoi being a stone-cold stoic and militaristic guy.

I'm curious about what you think of it (no pressure to like it/respond, I'm just interested in your thoughts)

Hakua x Aoi, hmm...? Well...

It's hard to feel much about it one way other the other!

Poor Hakua hasn't had a single ounce of character development, which is a real shame because there's an interesting contrast to be made between her and Vice Captain Hoshina. They both have older siblings serving as captains, but unlike Hoshina, Hakua seems to get on very well with her big sister and doesn't have any feelings of resentment or inadequacy that we've seen. It could've been a great opportunity to put Hakua on Hoshina's radar for very unique reasons compared to the rest of the team that would have added so much to her character!!

But alas. None of that.

As for Aoi... I just find him so, so......

boring.

I'm sorry! I'm sorry!! Character design, personality, plot relevance... he just does absolutely nothing for me. Objectively I know he's a nice guy, and I do appreciate the comradery he's shown in caring for his teammates. I like how he appears stoic and mean but is overall a nice guy. But! He's just so dry!!!

However, I like to try and see the logic in various pairings even if they don't appeal to me specifically. Just how would these two work?

I definitely agree that it would be fun to see him bouncing off the high-energy Hakua!! That would solve a lot of the issues I have with Aoi ^^;;; The fact that Hakua is even taller than him is great as well, since it would lend well to them teaming up for sparring sessions and the like. Even better if she can actually overpower him.

And if you want to dig deeper, there's is further material to work with.

Aoi (and Haruichi) were sent to train with the 2nd Division after all - you know, the one Hakua's big sis is running! So it would be cute if they checked up on each other through her - how is Hakua holding up in the 3rd Division? Is Aoi pulling his weight over there?? It'd be especially funny if Jura is on a call with Hakua only to pass the phone over to Aoi after she gets sick of them asking about one another.

"Just date already! Captain's orders!!"

They may not appeal to my personal tastes much, but there are ways to make it happen ^^
