How can Harry CO if he wants to? I'm just talking about if he wants to, I know he might not. But how can he when he has been linked to so many women and people believe all these stories? and the WS vid too which is explicitly about women. I know it's all just his image but it seems difficult to me because if he was to say he was gay then it will expose all those women as liars so I can't see him doing that when there must be NDAs and contracts signed, unless he does it in like 50 years when it doesn't matter lol. But if he was to CO while he is fairly young I guess he would either have to say he is queer or bisexual, or just go public with a guy and not comment on it.. which quite a few men have been doing lately, having a boyfriend and not commenting on it. I guess it would be harder for Harry because if he was to go public with a boyfriend then the media will probably still be posting stories about him and women. I don't know how the media works, it doesn't do this to any other celebrity so is it a case of Harry's team allowing it to happen while other celebrities take action somehow? Why don't we see stories about Taylor and men? The media making up stuff about her for clout?
Oh anon - I don't really know where to start with this.
There's a lot of media speculation about who is dating who. There's nothing unusual about what's happening with Harry. There are things that celebrities can do that might have an impact on how the media speculates about you. If you are papped making out with another high profile celebrity it does make speculation more likely. On the other hand Taylor has only just announced her break-up and is only be seen with female friends.
OK to go back to the question that you've asked and sort of answered. The easiest way for Harry to come out would be to publicly date a man. There's a lot in the details (and a lot of options), but that will always be an option.
What you seem to be asking is not - how could Harry come out, but if Harry is gay and has not been with a woman how could he let the public know that. Obviously the immediate response to that question is - would he want or need to?
I'm sure he could do it - there are always options. But it would probably take a while and come at a cost. What I find a little bit absurd is the idea that the Watermelon Sugar video would be a problem. Art does not have to be literally true and there's no way making art about having sex with women gets in the way of coming out.
Also the problem is not that it would expose the women Harry has pretended to date as liars. Harry and the people who he has presented himself have dating have generally matched the amount they've talked about their relationship - and that's been not much (the exception is Caroline Flack, which obviously doesn't matter). Camille and Harry have both mentioned dating the other in interviews, but otherwise nobody has said anything. The difficulty of coming out as gay and never having dated a woman is that Harry would expose himself as having told stories that were not true. Again it doesn't mean he can't - it just means that it'll come at a cost.
#I have been thinking a bit about celebrity coming out#and how it changes#things are scary for queer people in the UK and the US at the moment#and seeming like they're getting worse#The obvious most important question is - what is to be done#but in this context#I think it's also worth asking#if it will change public expressions of queerness by celebrities#and if so how#it could go either way#people feeling like they have to take a stand#or people could respond to an increased cost of coming out by not

"oh what am i supposed to do, without you?"
THURSDAY 04:17
seonghwa had no intent of anything, when he was unable to sleep.
seonghwa had no intent of anything, when he minimised himself across his bed.
his mind is a merry go round, already worn out. he doesn't know if these feelings in the air are beautiful or wretched.
seonghwa had no intent of anything, before his phone rings to a call.
he looks over and reads your name across the phone screen. it was almost a reflex when he instantly straightened himself, grabbed his phone and answered.
"y/n? hello?"
“hey, seo- seonghwa…” you shudder as you say his name. “could you help me?”
oh how he missed your voice. yet, his full name sounds strange under your lips.
and only after a moment of communication on the phone, he grabs his keys off the nightstand.
˖ ࣪⭑
"sorry. i couldn't afford a tow truck," you speak through the call.
"no, don't apologise. i'm coming for you."
he's already driving through the dark, apathetic to his dishevelled state. as well as the speed limit.
you’re trapped on the side of the road with a broken down car. you happened to be without any other choice but to call him. and honestly, thank the fates that this was the situation.
“are you okay? its so loud, are you driving safely?” you say, hearing influx of seonghwa’s very own car horns.
“yeah. don’t worry. just a whole lot of mindless drivers,” he replies. people who couldn’t drive should get off the road.
as he speaks, he notices how exhausted his voice sounds, as though he hasn’t spoke in so long. but one couldn’t really get a chance to talk if there was never anyone to talk to.
more horns fill the air.
seonghwas hunches forward. he is on the brink of smashing the pedal, just to distract himself from his own overwhelming mind. the drive is so damn slow.
as he steps back, he cries, realising all is gone. "what about my friends? my parents? they all hate you. fuck it, they hate me too. im sorry. i just can't."
somebody blocks his way, and he punches the steering wheel. well, it’s more because of the memories that begin to trespass his head, however it is impossible for him to care less.
he hates himself for the way he took your vast, beautiful hope for granted during then. for how he was so dense, so scared to let his love take over his fear. and now that everything all had dissolved, he wishes he did something differently. so that perhaps the current state wouldn’t be so.
and so perhaps you wouldn’t be stranded in the middle of nowhere but a road, all alone, in the night. for hours.
you’re in trouble. and he is obliged to save you, be your hero, the way he used to, and the way he was always supposed to.
“are you alright? are you cold? do you have a jacket?” he asks through the phone, almost at your location.
he waits for a response, but he's only met with silence.
"y/n? hello? y/n??"
and there was still no answer.
his heart rate drastically increases. he's really smashing the pedal now.
"y/n,, answer me? please?? hello???" he shakes.
a hundred, a hundred and ten, a hundred and thirty.
he's so scared.
he's yelling over the phone at this point, but you're still not responding.
"Y/N!! FUCK," he yells, almost to tears, vigorously pushing his back against the seat as he continues the drive.
and when seonghwa sees your familiar vehicle in the far distance from his windscreen, he swerves his steering wheel to turn to the side. he doesn't care if he's too far to stop. he roughly slams his hand to the gear for adjustment and swiftly releases his seatbelt, stepping out of the door and slamming it behind him. he leaves his car resting diagonally out of the highway, half onto the grass, because he really doesn’t care about anything else right now.
he runs desperately towards you in the soft moonlight.
it was windy and cold while he’s wearing nothing but a thin shirt and trousers, when he appeared outside your car door, finally laying his eyes through the window.
his heart stops for a little bit, seeing you for the first time in what felt like ages.
he finds that you're asleep, and he's so relieved that you're safe. yet what currently alters him more is your mere presence right upon him. you look so fragile and so small, your knees huddled to your chest, and his stomach twists. you're prettier than he could ever remember.
and he misses you so, so much.
he gently knocks against your glass window.
and you gradually open your eyes to his panting, his wide eyed gaze, and the wind in his hair.
"y/n?"
he steps back as he watches your beautiful figure exit the car. you are thankfully wearing a thin jacket.
the moment you shut your car door, he walks over to you and engulfs you under a tight embrace.
oh how it felt for him, to hug you like this again.
"seonghwa."
he immediately noticed how you tensed up when he pulled your frame into his body, and he softly released you.
his heart breaks a little bit. he's so ashamed of his thoughtless actions.
he looks down at you, his heart twisting as he realised he was undeserving of your comfort, and takes a step back.
"my bad," he mutters under his breath, covering his face to accept the fact that he just messed up the moment he got to see you.
"no, don't worry. it's alright," you reply, smiling in a way which looks so obviously forced.
he doesn’t know what to say, as there was no excuse for the way he treated you. all he could do is look at you, noticing every little crack in your demeanour.
he guides you back to his car.
when you fell back into the structure of the road with him, the air was empty and silent.
you were unsettled of the vast tension.
"how are you doing?" you manage to say out loud, but even you flinch at your own words. a such normal phrase sounds so drastically different than it did before.
doing? how does he answer that question if he had done nothing for the past fifteen months and four days, supposedly since the day of when his love of his life had disappeared?
"i'm doing good. how about you?"
he swallows hard as he sees your lifeless expression through the corner of his eye.
he had always seen you uplifting and cheerful, yet right now he couldn’t fathom how you’re the same person. you appear so worn.
"i'm great. just a bit tired tonight."
he stares endlessly at the many lights flashing from his windscreen.
one could say it was awkward, but he is too dismantled to conclude this precious moment like that. he's happy enough that he gets to see you again, although he knows he shouldn't. but he hopes you feel the same too.
"how long were you there for?" seonghwa asks for an attempt to keep the conversation.
"well, since twelve."
he almost crashes to the car in front.
"what? are you alright?" he says. "the hell were you doing for four hours?"
"sorry. i mean.."
"no, why are you apologising? i'm just.. why are you-"
your instinct to apologise hits him greatly. seonghwa knew he was the reason for your anxiety, and he despises himself. he turns to you, and for a second, he sees all that he put you through.
"i should've listened to my friends," seonghwa tells you, broken in state. "you've done nothing but cause me stress."
he wants to throw up.
"what were you doing for four hours?? why did you have to wait four hours to call someone???" he asks with great worry.
"it was dark, and there was nobody i could contact. i called all my friends, and none responded. i assumed they were asleep."
although he is happier to find you again, it still hurts that his wound is severely reopened by this moment beside you alone. it hurts that he couldn't even blame your search for him.
"i initially planned to wait until the next morning, but i lost patience. i called you, and you picked up almost instantly," you conclude.
after when you said the last sentence, he suddenly felt like you knew him too well.
perhaps you also knew that the sole reason he never falls asleep was because of you. because he is waiting for you. because he still loves you so much, he couldn't sleep bearing the thought of his feelings unrequited.
"you're safe now," he says.
you tighten, bringing your arms closer to yourself. "thank you so much. for this. seriously. i know i'm probably not the person you wanted to see."
"don't be sorry. please don't. i'm happy to see you again."
the moment was now quiet, but calming to the ears.
he felt lucky he didn't give up on the sunrise too soon. if fifteen dreadful months led to having an hour with you, he's more than grateful.
he wonders if you feel the same. that you're happy too.
he wanted to convince himself that maybe you lied when you said you couldn’t afford a tow truck. that maybe, just maybe, you wanted to see him again.
"are you hungry?" he asks to fill the air. you must be.
"no," you reply.
"lets stop to eat."
"no, it's okay. i'm not hungry."
"you lie too much. you've been stuck in some damn car for half a lifetime. we're eating, yeah?" he says, and there's no stopping him.
truthfully, he did not care if you were uncomfortable eating with him. he felt selfish, inconsiderate. he panicked when he watched the gps get closer and closer to you're place. he only wanted to use this chance to find more time with you regardless, because he knew you would never come back to loving him no matter how hard he tries.
"fine," you admit. but it sounded like you really wanted to stop to eat with him. and he wanted to believe that.
"what about convenience store food?" he says.
he knows you love miniature food. it's far more accessible to have many small packs of diverse dishes, rather than otherwise.
you smile, and his heart flutters ballistic.
you laugh once you walk into the bright, empty store with him.
"i want sushi… i really craved sushi," you say, pointing to the aisle.
"of course you do," he smiles, following you.
you take a compact sized pack that's fairly cheap, and now it starts.
he waits there in the corner as you run around the small store, taking almost anything you think looks good. he watches you far happier than before, and he felt something in his chest that wasn't fear. more so, it felt like he finally released all that he carried.
seonghwa felt alive again for the first time after fifteen months.
"this!!" you suddenly come into sight, holding about six or seven packets of food that you almost struggled to carry.
"you want that?" he chuckles. "alright."
there was no queue, so he went straight over with you to pay. seonghwa gets nothing but a small coffee.
if he could at least be your friend again, there's nothing more that he could ever want.
he leads you out of the place, back into the car. he held the door for you.
"thank you," you say. "thank you so much."
"don't worry," he replies.
once he gets in the car, he views you opening your food. although he used to recognise himself as a mass eater, he doesn't remember the last time he did. his body is destroyed with nothing but coffee and water.
and when he starts driving, he watches you enjoy your food. he softens more than ever at the sight.
"want some?" you ask, holding out a whole ice cream tub you're just scooping with a spoon. you're quite of a silly person.
seonghwa laughs. "i'm driving."
sooner or later, you hold up the same spoon of vanilla ice cream to his face. his heart beats faster before he takes a bite out.
"shove it in," you laugh at the way he's struggling.
he tries his hardest not to laugh in order to properly eat the ice cream.
"goodness, you're so peculiar," he says after he managed to consume the load.
"no, you are," you say. "youre the strangest person i know."
he smiles and turns to you for a second, unable to say anything. "well, i dont eat my ice cream off its tub."
"i dont eat four ramen packets at once," you rebut, hitting his shoulder playfully.
"oh be quiet right now," he replies.
you laugh, scooping another piece straight from the tub.
"i don't care about that. i know its impossible, but i want to believe its possible," you say, with the eyes of the most warmth so generously offered to him.
and there the two are, acting as though nothing had happened between them, acting as two lovers.
˖ ࣪⭑
he follows you to the apartment complex you stay in, and he's unable to let you go.
as you say your farewells walk away into the building, he catches your wrist, and you turn around.
"i still love you. im sorry i messed up before," he whispers to you. he steps closer as he takes his slightly trembling fingers to guide a stray hair behind your ear.
you didn't expect the sudden confession. "seonghwa.."
he shuts his mouth. the way you hesitate sort of leaves him uneasy. he stops to look at you, to cherish this little time he has with you. who knows if this will be the last time he sees you?
no matter how far it hurts him to admit, he couldn't deny how beautiful you are.
"can we try again?" he says almost mindlessly. he felt like he lost everything with that sentence, and wishes he could take it back.
it was silent for only a moment. those few seconds were more anticipating than he had ever felt, he wishes he were gone.
you looked down, as though trying to find what to say. there was nothing but ringing in his ear, until you answered, "i’m interested in somebody else."
"im sorry," he mutters, shamefully pulling away. he covers half his face with his palms to look down upon for a second. it's shattering when he absorbs all your words, burrowing them deep under his anguished heart.
you moved on already?
"its okay." you reply.
who is this new man? is it your really close colleague he never liked? or your guy that's always been part of your friend group?
"why is it so hard for you to just trust me?" you yell, and it seems as the glass tipped over.
he lets go of his arms. "who is this guy?" he asks, almost instictively. he spoke more aggressively than he intended.
"i don't think you're obligated to know."
he tightens his eyes shut.
so fast. you’re so fast. everyone is so fast. it had been fifteen months, yet he’s still in the same place he was in those fifteen months ago.
you’re moving on, while he had stopped. how does he fill the gap that does not shrink?
you’ve really given up on him.
you like someone else.
it's all over.
he subtly bites his lip, stepping back. he couldn't even look at you anymore. "well, i..." he barely mumbles, his voice trembling. "i really wish i could be the man you fell in love with again. i really do."
you almost flinch, looking away from him. you couldn't believe he could say such a thing. you seemed like you pitied him, for how vulnerable he currently reveals to you. "i’m sorry. just... leave me alone for a bit, yeah?"
it felt like knives to his heart. "you want me to leave?"
his voice is breaking. he looks back up to you, trying so hard to find a hint in your expression that you wanted to take it back, even a tiny hint, but he couldn’t.
"if thats okay," you say, as he freezes at your words. he felt like he said something he shouldn't have. what if this is the last time? what if this is really the last encounter? is this the moment everything is said?
“okay. then i'll.. then i'll see you,” his voice slightly trembles.
"im sorry. i'll see you," you reply, watching him leave.
"i wish i was strong enough. for us,” he says.
seonghwa steps back, and follows hesitantly. he stares to the cold, stone ground, exiting the complex as all his instincts scream against him.
the way you speak is destroying him piece by piece. he doesn't want to step any further away from you. he could never accept that you no longer love him. but if this is what you choose, he couldn't really do anything.
his love for you is overflowing in his hands. who else could he give this to if you refuse it? it hurts to carry.
its okay. he’s is willing to wait more for you. for something to happen again.
but how long will it take?

Summary: Hagiel goes to the banquet. It goes great
word count: 2,893
There was live music playing in the banquet hall that Hagiel had been guided to by one of the Governor’s serfs after he’d gotten cleared up and changed into formal wear. The collar was bothering him, but Hagiel didn’t fidget with it, despite wanting to. He was going to be uncomfortable until he could change out of the too-thin and restrictive clothing. There were several dozen very well dressed and clearly wealthy mortals who were talking to each other. He was announced by the serf and the conversations stopped as he entered. Hagiel stepped into the room and gave them all a professional smile, relying on the meager political training he had been given “Good evening.”
Governor Shyrc looked up from where they were setting at the head of the large, ornately decorated table, and responded “Good evening, Lord Angel, Please come sit at my right hand.”
Something niggled at the back of Hagiel’s mind about that, but he couldn't figure out what. Besides, he wasn’t sure how to take another spot without subbing the Governor nor displacing anyone else as there were exactly the number of seats available at the table as guests in the room. “My thanks, governor.” He made sure to move as softly as his large frame would allow, flashing closed-mouth smiles to mortals he passed, not wanting to unnerve them with his fangs. He didn’t recognize most of the mortals invited, though he did recognize Lady Sablescar, General Qvelt… And surprisingly enough. Xie Flint and vice admiral Egalth. “Good evening, Governor, how has your day been?”
“Busy with the reconstruction efforts of the city, how has yours been?” The governor responds, a small upward tilt of their lips.
“Busy as well. I focused on repairing the southern hospital. It’s currently partially functional, and should be repaired enough by the end of the week to be fully functional.” Hagiel responds with a small smile. Ideally it would be repaired by the next day or two, but he’d rather not tempt fate by saying that out loud.
“Why focus on one of the hospitals first?! We need to resume commerce as soon as possible in order to fiscally recover from the xenos raids!” One of the nobles whose names Hagiel did not know demanded, pouting a lavishly painted lower lip in his direction “The spaceport and surrounding infrastructure should be the highest priority!”
“Because there are quite a few injured people who are in need of medical aid, both among the civilians and the military casualties who protected this world, this system from the waves of xenos who tried to break our hold over this system, and grind us under their feet. Securing medical aid and ensuing that those who need it are tended to first is most important, though the spaceport is a high priority.” Hagiel gently corrected, raising one of his eyebrows fractionally at the sullen noble.
Vice Admiral Egalth spoke up “As we had explained to you earlier, the most critical parts of our infrastructure needs to be tended to first, and while our exports are a high priority, we need to tend to our people, before we can look to increasing profits.” There was censure in his voice that made the noble glare sullenly at him, the shining blue gems in her hair flashing in the candle light.
She sniffed “As you say. But how are we to pay for these repairs? The cost of the materials surely aren’t going to just vanish into the ether.”
“We have emergency funds and stockpiles of supplies that are carefully maintained for exactly this kind of situation.” Governor Shyrc cut in, sending the whiny noble a sharp glare in silent reprimand.
“But must we use these funds on the lower classes? Surely we should-” A second noble started.
They were cut off by General Qvelt, who growled “It was us lower classes who fought and bled and died while you cowered behind your energy shields and personal guards and servants, waiting for salvation. It was us lesser people who held the line as you fled in your fancy ships from this system while you tried to save your own skin, rather than stay and fight to defend what has belonged to your family for centuries, Lady Viskil.”
There was a very pointed, very tense pause in the dinner conversations, as everyone collectively held their breaths, waiting for a response or reaction.
Hagiel broke the silence with a quiet hum “Well spoke, general. I remember losing four brothers to cover the retreat of your personal ship, against the Drukhari raiders. Can you, in good faith, say that your life is worth the lives of four of my brothers?”
The Viskil’s answering glare was venomous enough to kill, were he a fellow mortal. Tellingly, she did not speak. Nor did anyone else.
Hagiel flashes them all a smile smile, this time with a hint of fang, shifting so that his sanguine eyes catch the candle light as the first course was served; in the shell of a local edible shellfish was a mixture of the shellfish itself, mixed with spices, fresh greens and cured with an herbal mortal alcohol. The shells themselves were a brilliant shade of pearlescent grey-white with shimmering flecks of gold in the shell. Hagiel was given five of them, though the mortals were served three each. “We should enjoy the dinner that Lord Shyrc has so thoughtfully provided for us.” The tension slowly left the room.
He had no idea how to eat this food. Did he pop the whole thing in, shell and contents in one? They were certainly small enough to be a single bite for the astartes to consume, but… Most fancy nobles didn’t like eating things that were close to the texture and strength of bone, and these shells looked like they could be.
Hagiel glanced surreptitiously at Lord Shyrc, who was already reaching for one of their oysters with a tiny spoon, scooping out the contents deftly, the rest of the guests following their lead, as the serfs poured them each small glasses of a dry, slightly bubbly white wine, likely meant to pair with the fishy dish. He quickly realizes that he is the only one who hasn’t started eating and hurriedly grabs the (absurdly tiny, in his hand) mother of pearl spoon, belatedly realizing that it was not made of metal, and misjudging the amount of strength it would take to potentially damage the spoon. It cracked where his thumb and forefinger gripped it with an audible snap that brought all eyes to him.
“Is all well, Lord Angel?” Flint asked, mirth in xie’s eyes as the other looks him over.
Hagiel swore in his head as he tried not to panic, nor curl in on himself like a bashful and clumsy aspirant he felt like. “I. Ah. Accidentally broke one of the spoons. My apologies, Lord Governor. The utensil is a little… Small in my hand.” He slowly set down the two halves of the spoon, resisting the temptation to slowly ooze under the table in mortification.
General Qvelt snorts and drops the pearlescent spoon he’d been using to eat one of the prepared shellfish and grabbed it with a hand “I’ve broken more than one of these spoons before. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the only way to eat oysters is straight from the shell all at once. None of this delicate groxshit.” With that he tipped the rest of the contents of the open shellfish half into his mouth, sending Hagiel a small wink.
“How gauche, general -” One of the other nobles started, their face twisting into a sneer of disdain.
Governor Shyrc cut the noble off by setting their own pearly spoon down louder than was necessary, picking up the partially consumed shell “And I agree with you. We’ve all had a difficult and long series of battles. To victory! And reconstruction of our fair city!” they called out, gesturing with the shellfish.
Everyone else hurried to follow suit, and Hagiel picked up one of his as of yet untouched shellfish halves, murmuring “To our victory!” and downing the concoction. As with other kinds of prepared mortal foods, the flavors were intense and much more complex than the nutrient paste that he was used to consuming - and the faint metallic tang on the back of his tongue did nothing but whet the insatiable appetite that all sons of Sanguinius struggled with to greater or lesser degrees. The textures were strange on his tongue, but overall pleasant. Nowhere near the number of calories he needed, but he hadn’t expected to be properly fed until he left for The Resolve later tonight.
~
Six courses of extremely complexly flavored food that did little to staunch the slowly maddening, aching thirst even as the mortals around him became increasingly louder and more boisterous as their own stomachs filled and the freely-flowing mortal alcohols loosened their tongues and minds was almost enough to overstimulate Hagiel’s heightened sense.
WIth the ever-present discomfort of the uncomfortably tight formalwear he was wearing that itched and tugged unpleasantly against his bandaged wounds and the fact that he had to politely dodge several handsy fellow dinner guests as the evening had moved on from food to tipsy (For them) dancing in the adjoining ballroom as more than a couple of them wanted to get a close up feel for what a space marine’s body was like without their armor, Hagiel’s patience and desire to tolerate their shenanigans was rapidly coming to an end.
Lord Amacius - the haughty noble from earlier - was on one side of him, flirting with anyone who moved and had tried to grab him three separate times - was attempting a pincer movement with Lady Viskil and Viscount Thelish, trying to corner him into either a dance or an attempt at drunken debauchery. The three of them were in charge of the sapphire mines, agricultural distribution and the promethium mines as the heads of their families who owned and controlled such things, so pissing them off needlessly at such a delicate point in time was dangerous. Not that Hagiel had quite resigned himself to being pawed at and drunkenly flirted with by inebriated mortals tonight. “Come now, Loooord Angel~! Surely you want to have a… Proper celebration?” Amacius slurred up at him, attempting to stalk towards the space marine, and mostly managing a graceless drunken stumble.
“I lost many brothers defending these worlds. White I am grateful for the victory we fought so hard to attain, I don’t feel much like celebrating, lord.” Hagiel answered, slowly backing away from the mortal man, silently hoping that someone would come and distract the entitled mortal fuck. “What were you doing during the battling?”
“Hmmm? Oh, I was in m’clan’s bunker, alongside my family and our favored concubines and serfs while the fighting happened. M’ not much of a fighter myself. More of a lover…” Amacius purred, waggling his eyebrows ridiculously up at Hagiel.
Of course he was. Most noble mortals were trembling cowards when it came down to fight for the imperium, for Him on Terra. Hagiel kept his emotional reaction from showing. Objectively, Amicus was handsome - high cheekbones, strong chin-line. Deep smokey black eyes, salt and pepper hair. But his cowardice and personality while inebriated left much to be desired in Hagiel’s personal opinion. Not that he was going to say that out loud. He bit off any comments he had about the other’s cowardly hiding before he said it out loud. He was an astartes, yes. But he wasn’t some blunt-voiced son of Dorn who couldn’t be trusted near high ranking mortals without a short leash and a dozen phrases sternly ordered to stick to, no matter his temper or internal response. “I see.” He answered diplomatically.
“I’d be happy to show you the bunker. It’s really quite-” Amacius slurred out, before being interrupted by Lady Viskil, who walked up to him before stumbling off of her high heels, the sharp points catching on the long hem of her dress.
“Ahh! Someone help m- Oh! My darling hero! Thank you for catching me, Lord Angel. My, you’re quite strong.” Lady Viskil purred as she looked up into his face, as Hagiel had automatically moved to catch the baseline human before she fell all the way to the ground. She was also objectively beautiful - her eyes were augmented to change color based on her desire, and were currently a deep violet color with chartreuse highlights. Her hair was wavy and pinned up in a complex series of braids with dozens of expensive sapphire gemstone-capped pins keeping them up.
Hagiel sets the mortal woman on her feet before letting her go “As are all astartes, Lady Viskil.” He swallows down a mouthful of saliva. The six course meal had done little but whet his appetites and the sooner he got out of here to get the nutrient paste he needed… And maybe find a dead body or two to drain to beat back The Thirst so he could focus the better. But events like this always took long, agonizing hours where anything more constructive could be done, but wasn’t because of pompous mortals and their love of nonsense.
“Yes, but you’re the only Angel I’ve met in person. I’ve heard stories about how handsome and striking the Lord Angels often are, but I must say that the rumors do you little credit - even with your minor mutation.” Viskil croons, attempting to reach out and touch him.
Hagiel takes a couple of entirely unsubtle steps backward, making sure to avoid any pillars, walls or people to avoid being potentially pinned. “We tend to be kept quite busy, defending the imperium, which has over a million worlds touched by His light, so thatt is… Not surprising. Lady Viskil, you seem flushed, perhaps you should sit down and have some water?” He was about to ask if the alcohol was disagreeing with her, before remembering that most adult mortals would take offense at that, especially while inebriated.
“Mmm? Oh… I do feel surprisingly… Warm. Yes, I’ll go do that.” Lady Viskil murmured before wandering out of his sight line and thus, not his problem at the moment.
Hagiel started to slink his way over to where Governor Shyrc was, to make his excuses to leave the party, when vice-admiral Egalth called out to him “Lord Hagiel?”
The Lamenter sent a silent prayer to his genefather Sanguinius for patience before turning to him and saying “Yes, vice-admiral?” trying to keep his voice light and pleasant.
“You reminding Viskil of the real flesh and blood cost to her cowardice was gutsy, Lord Angel. The only one with more political capital in this system than she does is the Lord Governor and his second in command, and even that’s debatable, depending on the month.” The mortal hummed. “Still, she needed the reality check.”
“I am a stranger to this system, and will not be lingering long. I am likely to be leaving alongside the Ultramarine inspection crew, unless I receive additional orders from His Regency.” Hagiel responded with a small shrug.
“Ehh… Fair enough. Speaking of, have you ever met him?” the vice admiral asked.
“Please clarify?” Hagiel inquired, having a guess as to who the other meant, but wanting to be sure.
“The Regent.” Egalth clarified.
“No, but my chapter Master and the captains of each of the-” surviving “-company captains have. As a rank and file battle brother, I have yet to be given such an honor. But I have heard stories of his grace and presence.” Hagiel answered earnestly.
“I haven’t either. Shyrc’s going to be wrapping this thing up, and I have worked alongside Astartes before, as has he. He’ll understand if you leave without saying goodbye to him. I’ve also got a small gift for you.” The mortal murmured, reaching out a hand to shake.
“Oh?” Hagiel murmured, shaking hands with the vice admiral, feeling as the other slipped him something. It was a small tube of Astartes grade rations. No more than a quick snack, but it was much more than the six course meal and the accompanying mortal alcohol had given him. Hagiel swallowed another mouthful of saliva - by the Emperor he was starving all of a sudden and murmured a quiet but fervent “Thank you.” He didn’t bother to pop open the cap, swallowing the entire tube down, packaging and all. “Please give the Governor my regards.”
“Of course.” Egalth hummed, nodding.
Hagiel turned on his heel and started to leave the room. He heard a yelp as one of the serfs stumbled back, clutching their face as the scent of fresh blood, sweet and tantalizing washed through the room and hit Hagiel with the force of a tsunami. Lord Amicus was standing over the bleeding serf, yelling beligerently, even as teh Governor’s security team dragged the ranting man off.
He could taste the sanguine temptation on the air, see it glitter beautifully in the warm candlelight. His fingers twitched before the litanies of his chapter began in his mind, to keep himself from succumbing to the Red Thirst and feeding upon the injured serf in front of all and sundry. He turned from the scene and fled the governor’s manor, into the night before his Thirst overpowered his hunger.

Leona Info Compilation part 5: Ruggie (pt3)
We see Leona employ Ruggie in a variety of roles such as protecting him during Beanfest (for a “daily special” from the cafeteria every day for a week), taking on his assignments during Vargas Camp (for a shopping trip that Ruggie took with Leona’s money) and recruit new students for the spell drive club (for doughnuts).
The task Ruggie dislikes the most might be having to pick up Leona’s room and do laundry, which we hear him complain about fairly often, but Leona pays for washing Ruggie’s clothes along with his own.
Ruggie seems to be uncomfortable with receiving charity—when Silver offers to lend him money, Ruggie refuses—which is possibly why Leona is always having to find roundabout ways to support Ruggie financially.
Since Ruggie will not accept money unless he feels like he is getting away with something Leona does things like give Ruggie both his wallet and his permission to buy whatever it is he wants in exchange for standing in line at the school store.
If it weren’t for the appearance of a monster that they needed magic in order to fight off, it is likely that Leona had been intending to let Ruggie smuggle a magestone out of the mines to sell, as well.
In a vignette we see Ruggie talking to himself about wishing he could afford to eat more when Leona suddenly appears behind him.
We do not know how much Leona overheard, but when Ruggie says he needs money to buy detergent for washing Leona’s clothes, Leona tosses him his wallet and tell him to take what he needs and keep the change.
Ruggie points that out he has nothing but large bills and Leona responds, “Why’re you getting all hung up on the details?"
Ruggie reflects that Leona probably wouldn’t even notice if he kept more in change than what the detergent costs, saying, “far be it from me to look a gift horse in the mouth, though. Cha-ching!”, seemingly unaware that that is likely Leona’s exact intent.
Ruggie charges Leona “at least ten thaumarks an hour” in exchange for his help during Fairy Gala (we never see Leona haggle with Ruggie to try and underpay him; Leona always goes along with whatever price Ruggie dictates), and Ruggie seems free to refuse tasks he does not like, such as passing on messages to Malleus.
When Jamil comments that serving Leona seems “far more painful” than serving Kalim, Ruggie says that serving Kalim would just make him uncomfortable, and there is “a lid for every pot.”
Ruggie himself explains that while Leona is used to ordering people around and is a demanding boss, he is always giving things to Ruggie for him to sell.
Leona also helps with Ruggie’s education, as Night Raven College is Ruggie’s first time attending a school.
Ruggie says that Leona tutors him on lessons he does not understand and provides him with reference books and old exams, as well as “tons of useful advice”, directly resulting in a significant increase in Ruggie’s grades from “bottom of the ladder” to “somewhere just below the middle”.
In addition to never arguing with Ruggie about money Leona seems to follow his demands in other areas as well, such as not skipping classes that Ruggie insists he must attend and reluctantly eating vegetables that Ruggie puts on his plate for lunch.
Leona does not seem to like the food at the school cafeteria (calling the steaks cheap” in Book 6) which makes sense, as he is a prince, and he is one of the strictest judges in Culinary Crucible (on par with Vil), grading meals with a 4 that Ruggie grades as 8.
However, Ruggie has a voice lines saying, “When it comes to cooking, all I can do it throw together whatever’s on hand, but it seems like Leona doesn’t care as long as it’s edible.”
This seems to insinuate that Leona either just prefers Ruggie’s cooking in particular, or at the very least he refuses to complain about it.

Anarchy made liveable
Something important for revolutionaries to bear in mind, particularly during the more pessimistic moments, is that the system isn’t working for most people. We’re confronted with an uncertain situation nowadays: a great many people – if not most – are clearly unhappy with the way things are, perhaps even profoundly so. As the everyday strain of fitting into this world increases, rates of suicide, addiction, and self-harm all continue to rise. School shootings – the clearest indication of a society at war with itself – proliferate at an ever quicker pace. Whatever semblance of social peace remains is banded together by the mass consumption of psychiatric drugs, which are frequently administered even to one-year-olds. Whilst anyone still unconvinced can expect to know the four cold walls of a prison cell, the populations of which continue to surge. These dire portents are all too commonplace, to the extent one easily fails to notice them; when you consider just how many of us are being fucked up merely as a matter of due course, though, the excuses begins to stink.
The lucrative decades of the 20th century promised us that anything was possible, that the end of poverty was just around the corner. Yet here we are, exclusion from the basic necessities of life – already sufficient motivation for the revolutions of the previous century – crippling us as severely as ever. Just as this civilisation thinks itself worthy of colonising Mars, as many as a billion humans hunger on Earth. Moreover, about half of the food produced globally goes to waste, and the supermarkets respond by padlocking the bins. Are we honestly expected to believe that capitalism is capable of undoing material scarcity, its most intrinsic of features? The utter contempt afforded to us should be no secret, and it isn’t the kind of realisation that lands softly.
What’s more, even those who “make it” in this world are quick to find themselves assimilated into a plastic paradise that, at its core, is defined by form without content, matter devoid of feeling. Each of us is quite acquainted with the hollowness of everyday life. The irony of consumer capitalism is that it promises to restore exactly what it deprives us of: the capacity to inhabit ourselves fully, undaunted by a constant sense of existential lacking, of spiritual want. Mass advertising has it that obediently consuming whichever latest cheeseburger, deodorant, or smartphone will heal the tear in the fabric of our being – in essence, the trauma of amputation from each other and the land. And yet, like any addiction, all this superficial consumption fills a hole only to soon leave it emptier than before. This is no image of human civilisation ravaging the planet whilst partying through the night; rather, ours is a culture that, like the most miserable of bullies, casts its torment outwards just to get through the day.
Meanwhile, access to this desert comes at such a high cost: the prospect of a life on the clock, almost all our waking hours spent either at work or recovering from it. Only in comparison with the literal risk of starvation could we be thankful for employment. All that wasted energy – the boredom, the anxiety, the fear – just to find ourselves thrown out by the economy as soon as our productivity drops, arriving at retirement broken and forgotten, without the slightest clue as to what all the sacrifice was for. No doubt, some of us have it worse – in some cases, immensely worse. But we all have it bad. Even the most privileged members of society are traumatised by the sound of their alarm clocks, by the ripping indication that another day of selling ourselves to exist has begun.
Productivity nowadays is higher than ever, but there’s no link between that and happiness, nor our sense of fulfilment. On the contrary, there’s an unspoken agreement amongst many of us that somewhere down the line things have gone horribly wrong. It can be difficult to say exactly what the problem is, but the warning signs are there, only continuing to grow. Contempt for the political establishment is rife, and even the middle class begins to falter under the weight of perpetual economic crisis. The oceans are filling up with plastic, whilst climate change threatens to plunge all living things into an epoch of unthinkable calamity. In such a context, to claim things are going to shit is one of the most banal things you can say. It seems the Western psyche is shedding its ancient sense of purpose, provoking a deep sense of existential angst. What’s left of that mythical social contract is evaporating fast, our reasons to comply vanishing one by one. The only promise this order of misery still holds is that of its own destruction.
Worst of all is that, having colonised almost every known corner of reality, capitalism convinces us that life itself is what’s awful. Which would be so much easier to believe, relinquishing us from the added strain of imagining what possibilities might lie beyond the existent. But some things can never be fully ground down, some truths – physiological rather than intellectual – never quite forgotten. As children, everything was so different: we promised ourselves we’d never become old, nor surrender our dreams. With the passing of time, though, those joyous days, in which all activity was but a modification of play, somehow receded into the distant past. Hammered out of us by the banality of routine, and the violence of constant stress, that youthful wisdom – the unashamed passion with which we approached every conceivable issue – slowly withered and died. As adults, most of us have totally forsaken the preciousness of life – not merely our own lives as individuals, but also of life itself. Yet it can always be rediscovered. Lying within each of us is a dormant truth, something so terrible, so revolutionary, that it threatens to demolish everything that makes the 21st century such a wretched affair: life is not merely something to get through.
* * *
With all this in mind, there’s a curious mismatch developing. On the one hand, levels of hatred for the system are surely enormous; on the other, the vast majority of people somehow find themselves going along with things, swamped by the mass of little compromises. Why is it that relatively few people – extremely few, all things considered – seem to be consciously interested in fighting back? This is a complex issue, but here’s an idea: perhaps the majority of our methods just aren’t of much use to most people. It isn’t that they simply fail to care, but instead have already been sufficiently burdened by everyday survival under capitalism without the added expectation of struggling even more. The things we dedicate ourselves to – whether peaceful protest or militant revolt – offer us a great deal, but only rarely does such involvement stand a chance of making life any easier. In other words, the value of the struggle is in a sense spiritual, not material: it enhances our lives, but almost always lessens our ability to make ends meet.
Perhaps that’s the reason many of us are having a hard time exceeding the (often distinctly privileged) margins of society, because the struggle is a luxury. Only once your basic material needs have been met can you start worrying about less immediate concerns, including the wellbeing of society and the planet. Which just goes to show, there’s no excuse for losing faith in the species, not yet: the conditions of economic scarcity imposed by capitalism – its ruthless combination of debt, bills, and joyless careers – deem it physically impossible for most to realistically dream of changing the world. Not only that, it also means those who get involved are likely to find their commitment weighed down by the pressures of long-term economic security, that once youthful idealism often waning into our thirties. Only by reconnecting the struggle to the promotion of material autonomy can we expand its breadth of engagement, both for outsiders and ourselves.
What’s being proposed here, basically, is the need to make anarchy liveable. Why wait for some mass upheaval to get hold of the necessary means of production? We can’t sustain ourselves on symbolic gestures alone: only by securing immediate solutions to everyday material needs – solutions valuable in and of themselves, irrespective of what’s on the horizon – can you expect to get greater numbers involved. People are hurting now, and that won’t be alleviated by some millenarian hope of revolution. All too often, anarchism sees itself as an ideology rather than a way of life, as if levelling hierarchy were a mere matter of aggregating opinions – a distinctly liberal notion. On the contrary, anarchy expands by realising itself immediately within the social terrain, supplanting every function that keeps us loyal to the system, generating solutions more realistic than it has to offer.
We already have some useful examples, including the free breakfast programme run by the Black Panthers, and the squatted ADYE medical clinic of Exarcheia. In order to reinvent itself as a true historical force, however, anarchism must increase its ambitions massively, reclaiming every condition of existence – food, shelter, education, medicine, transport, entertainment, social care – in the name of autonomy. This notion of anarchy as an immediate, communising force stands to make major gains against the failings of institutional engagement: rather than getting bogged down in lengthy and prejudiced bureaucratic procedures, we could utilise direct action to start building our strength without delay.
Autonomous zones are extremely useful here, but they’re not enough. Pushing the boundaries isn’t only about having a concrete social alternative, but also an accessible one. In too many cases, our communes remain out of bounds to outsiders, something not at all helped by subcultural barriers or even outright contempt. These issues can, of course, be remedied with only a little sensitivity, but in many cases the problem stems from exactly the point of an autonomous zone: to establish a definitive break with normality. Rather than expecting outsiders to leap into the unknown, therefore, we’re the ones who need to be doing so, putting in the effort to build affinity beyond the usual circles. No excuses here: it isn’t as if all such engagement introduces a hierarchical dynamic, one between the revolutionaries and the masses, the missionary and the heathen. Separated from a commitment to organisational growth or ideological conversion, what one might call “outreach” is much more capable of occurring horizontally, opening up a reciprocal process in which either side stands to learn just as much from the other. The point isn’t to absorb outsiders into our own way of doing things, but instead to encourage people to struggle against power on their own terms, wherever that might lead.
In any society based on hierarchy, resistance to subordination is a fact of everyday life, no less so for “apolitical” people. The problems of capitalist expansion are rarely faced by ourselves alone, whether it’s a question of gentrification, maxi-prisons, slaughterhouses, migrant detention centres, nuclear waste dumps, high-speed railways, or surveillance systems. Take your pick: we’re already surrounded by opportunities to break down social barriers, counteracting any attempts to ghettoise our efforts. The struggles we undertake are diverse, yet each of them is grounded in a singular need to confront social hierarchy, thereby containing the potential to call everything into question. Even if the local, specific objectives of an intermediate struggle aren’t achieved, the mere fact of struggling together can be decisive for bringing people – ourselves as much as anyone – closer to the future possibility of rupture. Rather than abandoning the terrain of activist campaigning, therefore, the point is merely to deepen the perspective with which we approach it, shifting from a preoccupation with the specific to an appreciation of the general, from a reformist focus to something concretely revolutionary.
Miserable conditions are never enough for revolution; what makes this world intolerable is that one has confidence in an alternative. Surely most people continue with their lives – with working a job, paying rent, or going to school – not because they like it, but because they’ve been convinced, in the lack of a viable alternative, that it’s just the way it is. No matter how awful a situation, if it has a monopoly on meeting your basic material needs, the only conceivable response will be to suck it up and continue, perhaps even blaming feminism or immigration for the deepening crisis of modernity. As yet, we’ve failed to puncture that illusion. Which confirms the strange sense in which even we, as dissidents, must bear part of the responsibility for propping up this awful mess. Pushing the boundaries of struggle means establishing viable routes of desertion from the system, both accessible and secure. In short, anarchy expands by making it liveable.

Seeing the future
Pairings: Armando x reader Summary: During the second caraval, you decide to participate in the game again alongside Donatella, but a certain man continues to disturb your thoughts throughout the game. Warnings: Terrible writing Author's Note: No judgment for an extra having a set all to himself Words: 2.4K
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0235061901fff05ba6dc9983215b5584/4bfb963b3b65a5d5-47/s540x810/dd658b313cec493682f3ab520408550055e33a04.jpg)
You had followed in Tela's footsteps thus far during Caraval, believing that remaining in your sister's shadow would protect you from certain inconvenient encounters.
Seeking to get some help by finding the second clue, you and your sister headed towards the Church of Legend in Valenda. You found it a little comical how much Legend was revered anywhere in the world, even though without his powers he would just be an ordinary man. There was a crowd in front of tasseled curtains that seemed to be waiting for some magic show or for something incredible to appear in front of them.
"What do you think will happen here?" - Tella asked
"I have no idea. Coming from Caraval, anything is possible." - you commented, letting out a laugh when you noticed your sister's excited look - "I wouldn't be surprised if all the Fates appeared behind those curtains"
"No kidding!" - Tella scolded you with an irritated tone of voice - "If that really happened, no one here would come out alive!"
"I'm sure more than half of the people here are Legend actors, if that really happened, at the end of the game they would come back to life"
"Well, either way, let's hope it's something that takes us to the next clue" - Tella seemed to have noticed something interesting in the crowd as she was staring at some people.
This was your second Caraval in the same year. In the first one, you had participated with Scarlett while you were looking for Donatella, but what you did more was to disturb than help, even though Scarlett said several times that she wouldn't have done it without you. And now you felt the same way about this Caraval with Tella. It seemed like you always depended on your sisters for everything, even to know which side to take. It disturbed you day and night. But today, you decided that would change. Today you, for the first time, would be able to help your sister in some way, whether it cost you your life or not.
"What do you think about us taking separate ways?"
"What?" - Tella replied with a shocked expression on her face.
"Little by little the crowd is increasing and our time is decreasing, I feel that somehow we are wasting our time here" - you said looking around - "If we separate, there is a great chance that we will get some clue soon!"
Tella looked at you with a mix of strangeness and admiration. You knew that deep down your sister wanted to protect you, but she couldn't always do that. In a way, you suspected that she had been keeping some secret for a while now and, that whatever this secret was, it was costing her a lot of time, precious time for Tella, that she couldn't lose. That was why you knew she wouldn't refuse your suggestion.
"Maybe then, but you have to promise me that you'll stay out of trouble. Scarlett would kill us both if she found out, me especially"
"It's a promise" - you respond, taking one last look at your sister before losing sight of her to the crowd. You could have sworn you saw a man with identical appearance to Dante heading towards her the moment the two of you separated.
"Now it's time to look everywhere" - you said as you walked around the place taking a good look at everything around you - "The clue could be anything-"
"It's not safe for young women to walk around here alone, you know?" - a strangely familiar voice took you out of your reverie, making you look quickly towards the person.
And your eyes met Armando's stunning green. A look that seemed to have shot an arrow right into you heart. His emerald eyes were like slaps to your heart. Those eyes that made you go crazy just imagining them in your head. Your mind screamed at you to get out of there and look for your sister, but your heart insisted that you should give it a chance.
You took a deep breath.
Armando was the actor who tricked you and your sisters by pretending to be Scarlett's fiancé, which made them feel an aversion to him for playing the role of the villain in the last game. Less you. He was so ridiculously attractive that it irritated you, how could a man be that handsome? You decided to ignore Armando and turn around, heading back towards the place where you and Tella had initially separated, silently praying that he would lose sight of you. What was in vain. Because right then you felt a hand pull your arm towards a warm and strong body. Your sisters would kill Armando if they saw how close he was to you, but reluctantly, you were thankful that your sisters were out of sight and that you could enjoy this little time with the man who kept taking over your thoughts every day.
"Where do you think you're going?" - his hot breath tickled your ear and your face flushed at the possibility of Armando being able to hear your heartbeat.
You manage to free yourself from Armando's tight hug and face him again.
"I know very well what I'm doing here"
"Really? Because it looked like you were lost looking for something" - he said letting out a mocking laugh - "It even looked like you were looking for the next clue"
There he was, the real Armando you knew. The man who liked to irritate and provoke you in every way possible. The ability he had to read your feelings as if they were an open book was incredible.
"I don't have to give you any explanations"
"It's not like it's very difficult to identify them. Because it seems like your body is craving it" - he replied, walking towards a table, picking up the Deck of Destiny that was on top of it and shuffling it - "If you really want to find the second clue, you should pay more attention and don't travel while you're walking around" - Armando finished shuffling the Deck of Destiny and placed it over the table, motioning for you to sit down and join him.
"I don't know if I want to know about my future"
"It's not like you really have any other option. Either you play with me or you waste the chance to surprise your sister with the next clue. It's up to you!"
The ticking of the clock showed that you couldn't waste any more time playing his game, you needed this clue, Tella needed it more than you did, and you swore you were willing to do anything for her. Even if that meant seeing your future in Armando's hands. You decide to sit in front of him at the table where the deck was, choosing four cards, one at a time.
And then, the first card appeared.
The Lady Prisioner
You lost your breath for a few seconds as you searched for some explanation for the card you had just turned over. Armando looked with some curiosity.
"At least you won't die single" - he directed his gaze to you, which in your unconscious seemed to be a mix of curiosity and jealousy - "I wonder who will be the unlucky one"
Still very lost with the first card to give some kind of answer, you decide to turn the second, with high expectations for what was to come.
The Unwed Bride
Armando let out a mocking laugh.
"As you are unlucky, the first card promises you love and in the second, this love is destined not to last" - he adjusts his clothes - "It seems that the Fates are not on your side"
"I would be very happy if you could stop making fun of me"
"And miss the fun of seeing your frustrated face? No thanks!"
Pretending not to pay him any more attention, you turn over the third card.
Mad Jester
The moment you turn the card over and find a jester staring at you, you silently begin to curse the Fates for choosing such a bad fate for you. What had you done to deserve such an unfortunate fate?
"Mad Jester huh? Happiness destined not to last" - At that moment you thought he would let out another laugh and mock you again for your bad luck, but surprisingly you just saw Armando with a worried look and a frown looking at the fourth and final letter - "I am beginning to feel a slight pity and sadness for you. If it console you, I will pray for your good to the Fates"
"This was supposed to make me feel good?" - You commented, too distressed to notice Armando's sudden change in mood.
"Maybe? I don't like seeing people get along so badly" - His eyes fixed on the last card that hadn't yet been turned over on the table - "Finish this reading quickly, this is starting to be horrible for both me and you"
The Mistress Luck
A whistle came out of Armando's mouth when he saw the last card. You also couldn't deny the relief your body felt when you saw Mistress Luck staring at you from the table, unconsciously letting out a heavy sigh that showed how distressed you were this whole time. You were never a fan of the Fates, but at that moment, she had definitely just become your favorite Fate.
"I'm glad your future awaits luck" - he said as he took the cards and put them back into the deck - "I think Mistress Luck has a special eye on you" - he commented as he shuffled the deck and then put it away again - "You're not that unlucky after all"
Already tired of Armando's provocations, you finally look at him irritated.
"I did what I promised you, I played this ridiculous Deck of Destiny with you in search of the next clue, it's time for you to give me what you owe me!"
Armando's gaze fixed on you
"Yes, I'll tell you the next clue, since you didn't pay much attention to your surroundings while you were engrossed in this "ridiculous" Deck of Destiny" - and then he approaches you - "But in Caraval, everything has a price, even if it´s a simple card game"
You could feel your face turning red as you felt Armando's hot breath approaching your mouth and you cursed your thoughts for imagining and longing for the taste of his kiss.
"B-but I thought the game was payment for the next clue!"
A big mischievous smile formed on Armando's lips.
"The deck was just a distraction to get your attention, but now that I have it" - his gaze went to your lips - "Now I can tell you what I really want in payment"
Your mind was begging you to get out of there as quickly as possible, but for some reason your body just couldn't move. You were trapped under Armando's spell. You were mesmerized by his pretty face and your carnal desire. If Tella showed up now, you would never forgive your sister.
"And what do you want as payment?"
"How about a kiss?"
He could only be going crazy, it seems like he read your thoughts
"A-A kiss?!?"
Your frustrated face only made Armando enjoy the whole situation even more.
"Yes. Either a kiss or not knowing what the next clue is"
Damn, he knew very well how to have you in the palm of his hand. However as much as you wanted to give in to the desire to kiss him, the fear of being caught by your sister still tormented you. You took a quick look around the place where you were, realizing that the flow of people had decreased considerably, meaning you would have some kind of intimacy alone.
"So, what do you say?"
You let out a light sigh
"Okay, a kiss in exchange for the next clue" - you replied noticing Armando's sudden approach - "B-but it's just a kiss! Nothing more! One kiss and that's it"
"You're making too many excuses for someone who has been looking forward to this moment all along."
"And you seem very excited for someone who takes pleasure in mocking me."
"You think? Maybe you don't know me well enough yet."
"You know my sister could arrive at any time right?"
"Yes, that's why you need to be quick!" - and the mischievous smile takes over his face again
So it was now or never.
You closed your eyes and gave in to desire. The kiss was slow, as if he wanted to keep that moment in his memory, enjoying the kiss in every detail. Slowly he placed his hand behind your head, bringing you even closer to him. Your hands found themselves fixed on his chest, ready to either bring him closer and closer to you or to move him away at the slightest sign of interruption, despite the fact that you were already slowly bringing him closer to you every second. You couldn't deny it, you'd been longing for this moment since the first time you saw him at Caraval. You fell in love with the villain of this game, with the man who, when this all was over, would forget everything you had experienced. As much as you were afraid of getting hurt, you would regret it even more if you hadn't even tried, and that's why you're here, right now, kissing Armando, exchanging caresses and tasting each other. The kiss intensified. Armando tasted like mint and citrus fruits, his lips took more and more advantage of the kiss while his tongue yearned to explore your mouth even more.
His caresses sent shivers throughout your body, making you go crazy and crave for more. He really knew how to make you mad longing for him. For a moment, you realized how mischievous these caresses were becoming, not that it was wrong, but you seemed to have forgotten that you were in a public setting, which meant that you could be caught at any moment in the middle of your caresses... So that means you definitely didn't pay attention to a blonde-haired woman approaching the two of you along with a tall, muscular man by her side.
"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING?!?!?"

Happy pride month!! 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
This pride month, I kindly request that you help me (a disabled queer trans guy) get closer to my goal of $6,000 for top surgery. (Yes it has decreased from 10,000 to 6,000. More Info under the cut). Currently the GoFundMe has raised $340/$6,000 of what I need. While I am saving my own money and pouring whatever I can spare into my savings, there's no way I can reasonably save enough on my own to reach my goal of getting top surgery before the end of next year.
If you can, even just a few dollars is extremely helpful, and you can donate here: https://gofund.me/60a8148b
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1c29ee864432de9b9cdf6e7aba32aecc/f4aeff3b54ab4874-03/s540x810/ffea751b07a953647f4088cda9134e47f040352d.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/72f312ad53023d3b24606099f58d8b36/f4aeff3b54ab4874-fb/s540x810/ead5dd17d23cbff196f07c32d52c65855da6c8af.jpg)
Some more nuanced information is below the cut.
My insurance (my state's Medicaid) is required to offer gender affirming surgery and cannot discriminate against myself or anyone else for being trans. Unfortunately the system in which it takes to get approved for coverage is extremely difficult. I wouldn't be able to even qualify until after my birthday next year (you have to be 21 to qualify). And the other steps can be just as tiresome. There's a lot that goes into it, and it's a lot that would be unreasonable for me to get done even if I started now. Not to mention the fact that after reaching out to several doctors in network, only one responded to me (and my phone call with him was anything but kind).
Out of pocket with a plastic surgeon is my best bet, and the safer one too. Currently the ONLY thing preventing me from getting top surgery is my finances, hence the GoFundMe. I found and consulted with a surgeon in my area who is willing to perform the surgery, and a therapist willing to provide a letter stating that basically I'm of sound mind and body to be making this decision.
Truthfully I've needed top surgery since I was 14. Even if I wasn't trans, my breasts cause me significant physical difficulties including mobility and breathing (which, when paired with a physical disability that causes chronic pain makes everything incredibly hard). The dysphoria is a complete other story. I've been binding since 14 too, and considering I'm 20 now, is a pretty long time. Binding for so many years has it's own consequences, especially when you are someone of my size. Needless to say, this is not only medically necessary from a gender affirmation standpoint, but also a quality of life one. It is absolutely a need.
It's also necessary because of my mental health. I made a post a short while ago that admitted to me being... not the best mentally. It wasn't a break down of sorts, but it was an honest reaction to my situation that I needed to get out of my system. The biggest contribution to this not-quite-breakdown is the fact that I can't afford top surgery. That's a hard concept for some people to grasp, that lack of access to this surgery could make me incredibly depressed. So many people still see it as elective or cosmetic. It's a hard feeling to explain, but it is the truth. It's not meant to be a guilt trip or to make you feel pity. It's my reality, and frankly the reality of many other trans people in similar situations.
The estimated cost for the surgery and all its required components is $10,000 (of which my joyfriend has so graciously offered to cover $4,000 of that). That leaves me with needing to cover 6,000 on my own*.
Being physically disabled makes working long hours hard. I get wiped out after a few hours at my normal job, and my summer job at a camp this year is sure to leave me with more exhaustion than normal as my days are significantly longer. (It's sad to say but I am working here mainly for the money, and the super awesome and supportive community I've found is a really awesome bonus. While I anticipate getting more saving money because of the pay increase at this summer position, it's not going to be enough to cover top surgery by itself, and come the end of this position and summer, I'll be back at my original place of work with only a one dollar increase in promotion pay. ($12/hr). I'll likely be making even less money than I normally do because I'm starting school again.
I'm just now realizing how busy my life is going to be after typing all this out...
There are some questions I've had people ask me, but most of them have been answered in other posts of mine that are pretty easy to search up on your own through my blog. That said, if you have any questions about anything regarding this, please ask through the ask box or DM me. I don't mind answering good faith questions, and will happily repeat myself to make it easier for info to find.
*With the help of the GoFundMe.

The Anatomy of the 427 SOHC – Ford’s Answer to the HEMI that was banned from NASCAR and went drag racing.
What is the most feared engine ever to come out of Ford? A very subjective question – but the Boss 302, 427 Tunnel Port, Boss 429 come to mind. All these are candidates, but a lot of people would say that distinction belongs to the 427 SOHC. Mostly referred to as a 427 “Cammer” or “Sock”.
1964 was the year that Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 with the new Dodge 426 Hemi. Ford was running the 427 Hi-Riser that year and won the majority of NASCAR races. The writing was on the wall and the boys at Ford had to come up with an answer to the new Hemi. Within 90 days, Ford took what it learned from the 255ci Dual Overhead Cam Indy motor and applied it to the bulletproof 427ci FE motor. The displacements started at 332ci and grew to 428ci. The baddest of the bad of these were the 427’s and the King of the 427’s is the 427 SOHC!
The shortblock for the “cammer” was basically all 427 hi-riser. Ford wanted to keep the cost down by using as many off-the-shelf parts as it could. The crank was the 427 forged steel version that was cross-drilled at both the mains and rods. This crank with the steel hi-riser connecting rods and special “hemi-head” pistons was the ticket needed to live at 7500 rpms. Increased oil pressure and updated water pump helped to keep all fluids flowing no matter what the conditions were.
The main thing that drew your eyes to this motor was the massive valve covers, which were made from magnesium. One look and you knew that this was no ordinary engine. The heads were cast iron and wide. With a machined combustion chamber putting the compression ratio at 12.0:1. The intake ports were a “tunnel port” design that fed 2.25″ intake valves and through 1.90″ exhaust valves, gases exited out D shaped exhaust ports. Hollow stem intake valves were used and the exhaust valve stem were sodium filled to help control the heat that is generated at 7500 rpms.
The first public mention of the Cammer V8 appeared in the Daytona Beach Morning Journalon Feb. 23, 1964. Beaten up at Daytona all month by the new 426 Hemi engines from the Dodge/Plymouth camp, Ford officials asked NASCAR to approve an overhead-cam V8 the company had in the works. But as the Journal reports here, NASCAR boss Bill France turned thumbs down on Ford’s proposed engine. France regarded overhead cams and such to be European exotica, a poor fit with his down-home vision for Grand National stock car racing.
Even though France barred the SOHC V8 from NASCAR competition, Ford proceeded to develop the engine anyway, hoping to change Big Bill’s mind. In May of 1964, a ’64 Galaxie hardtop with a Cammer V8 installed was parked behind Gasoline Alley at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the assembled press corps could get a good look at it.
On October 19, 1964, NASCAR moved to ban all “special racing engines,” in its words, eliminating both the Cammer Ford and the Chrysler 426 Hemi from Grand National competition for 1965. Chrysler responded by temporarily withdrawing from NASCAR, while Ford continued on with its conventional 427 pushrod engine in NASCAR and took the SOHC engine to the drag strips.
Despite heavy lobbying from Ford, in December of 1965 NASCAR again banned the Cammer for 1966, with USAC piling on (Spartanburg Herald-Journal, December 18, 1965 above). However, in April of 1966 NASCAR finally relented. Sort of. Okay, not really. The Cammer was now allowed, technically, but only in the full-size Galaxie model, limited to one small four-barrel carb, and with an absurd, crippling weight handicap: nearly 4400 lbs, 430 lbs more than the Dodge and Plymouth hemis. At that point Ford said no thanks and dedicated the Cammer to drag racing. The engine never turned a lap in NASCAR competition.
Ford made the Cammer widely available in the drag world, providing engine deals to nitro racers Tom Hoover, Pete Robinson, Connie Kallita, and a host of others. Among the most successful Cammer-equipped drag cars were the 1966-67 Comet flip-top funny cars (Don Nicholson, Eddie Schartman, et. al.) and Mickey Thompson’s dominating ’69 Mustang team starring Danny Ongais and Pat Foster.

Important, PLEASE Read and Share.
TW // Violence and Police Brutality.
Protesters in Atlanta Georgia are being threatened on bogus charges by the state.
For the past 2+ years, protesters in Atlanta Georgia have been protesting and camping out in the Weelaunee Forest, Atlanta's largest remaining green space. With so little of these vast spaces left, and more being taken, it is so important to save what we can.
The Atlanta Police Foundation chose the Weelaunee Forest to establish a massive training complex which would include fake city like buildings for Police training, which is why the project has been dubbed "Cop City". This training facility would no doubt be used to increase the militarization of the Police, and add to the harassment and brutalization both black communities and protesters face when trying to live and exercise their rights.
The facility would be built adjacent to a majority Black, working class community that was not only promised the forest for trails and park space, but would surely be subject to even more policing instead of a Third Space* they can use as a community.
The facility would desecrate 87 acres of land, spanning over 381 acres, and costing around $90 million dollars that could have gone back into community projects and care instead of further the subjugation of the working class.
Police have been extremely violent towards the dubbed "Forest Defenders", raiding the forest multiple times to shoot pepper balls at nonviolent protesters and also destroying shelters, water/food storage, and even purposely destroy Jewish religious sites, including a Sukkah that was built for Sukkot and was destroyed by police in a raid 2 months after, along with a large Menorah which "disappeared". The forest camps has become an important religious site for Jewish people in and around Atlanta, as more than 60+ Jewish People have traveled to the forest for Shabbat, with hundreds more joining the live stream for Shabbat.
The forest is not just important for nearby Black and Jewish communities, the Defenders adding shelters, cafeterias, and even a small stage venue in the forest in an effort to Squat the forest has provided local homeless communities with a warm place to eat and shelter. The forest has transformed into a safe space for the community as Defenders educate each other and the Atlanta communities on first aid, cultural differences, leftism and anarchism in practice, and more.
Following violent interactions with Police, protesters have responded by burning down construction equipment (with no construction workers nearby), and throwing rocks at Cops who attempted to get close to harass the protesters. When it comes to the safety of our planet and communities, property is replaceable.
However, a life is not. On January 18th, 2023, a nonbinary anarchist eco activist, who was knowledgeable as a street medic and worked tirelessly as a forest defender, was shot and killed by Georgia State Troopers during another raid on the forest. Their name was Manuel “Tortuguita” Terán.
Police claimed Tortuguita shot first and injured a trooper, which the media picked up and began to circulate. However, multiple autopsies have confirmed not only did Tortuguita have no gunpowder residue on their hands, but Tortuguita was shot while on their knees, hands in the hair, surrendering to Police. Autopsies also concluded Tortuguita was hit with at least 57 gunshot wounds across their entire body, showing Tortuguita was executed by a police fire squad.
Police body camera footage also showed a Cop admitting that the Troopers had "fucked up their own guy", which authorities of course dismissed and refuse to participate in proving their innocence that they're so sure of.
In response to this, protesters took to the streets and burned a cop car, leading to police arresting 40+ activists. Police also arrested, threatened, and intimidated anyone who was peacefully discussing and sharing information about Tortuguita's murder on the streets of Atlanta, attempting to silence anyone who was even peacefully raising awareness.
Atlanta Police also conducted a random raid of a legally operating Bail Fund based in Atlanta, The Atlanta Solidarity Funds. The raid came as the Atlanta Solidarity Funds was legally raising money and awareness to help with Bail and Legal Defense, as protesters who were arrested peacefully were being charged with Domestic Terrorism, and now RICO/Racketeering charges. The Atlanta Police claim that the Bail Fund was laundering money, but other Bail Funds are calling this out as an obvious act of intimidation since absolutely no stories or proof has been released in conjuction with these financial charges.
There's a lot more, this has been going on for years, but one thing is certain. If we do not stop this here, they will tear the forests in your cities down and continue to militarize the police, furthering the oppression of the working class and continuing to make Black and marginalized communities lives hell.
Please read up on what has been happening in Atlanta because there's way more than the bits I talked about here. The Forest Defenders have been through so fucking much, and they still have a lengthy battle. But you cannot kill an idea. You can follow the Atlanta Solidarity Fund and the Forest Defenders on Social Media to keep up with them.
PLEASE boycott when possible, or be extremely vocal, towards the companies backing cop city. PLEASE tell them they have Blood on their hands.
Please continue to raise awareness, and follow Cop City closely. Please Read and Share.

Boost Your Business with Digital Marketing in Gold Coast
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1ba31ab9fde9abfab00b55e5add2282d/0fc90d9a87b29ec7-11/s540x810/1985e4bb34fe43396b64722c7e8a3642c79051d9.jpg)
In the vibrant and competitive business environment of Gold Coast, standing out is more critical than ever. With stunning beaches, a thriving tourism industry, and a diverse economy, Gold Coast offers a unique landscape for businesses to flourish. However, to truly capitalize on the opportunities available, leveraging digital marketing is essential. This article explores how digital marketing can significantly boost your business in Gold Coast, providing practical tips and insights to help you get started.
Understanding the Digital Marketing Landscape
Digital marketing encompasses all online marketing efforts. Companies use digital platforms including websites, email, social media, and search engines to communicate with both present and potential clients. In Gold Coast, where the market is both dynamic and diverse, a robust digital marketing strategy can make a substantial difference.
Why Digital Marketing Matters
1. Reach a Wider Audience:
The internet is a global platform, and digital marketing allows you to reach a wider audience than traditional marketing methods. For businesses in Gold Coast, this means not just tapping into the local market but also attracting tourists and international clients.
2. Cost-Effective:
In many cases, digital marketing is less expensive than traditional marketing. Social media campaigns, email marketing, and search engine optimization (SEO) can offer high returns on investment without the hefty price tag of TV or print ads.
3. Measurable Results:
The capacity to monitor and assess outcomes is one of digital marketing's key benefits. Tools like Google Analytics and social media insights allow you to see what’s working and what’s not, enabling you to adjust your strategies accordingly.
Key Digital Marketing Strategies for Gold Coast Businesses
1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of making your website more visible on search engine results pages (SERPs). For businesses in Gold Coast, local SEO is particularly important. This involves optimizing your website for local search terms and ensuring your business appears in local listings and maps. Using keywords like "best café in Gold Coast" or "Gold Coast real estate" can help attract local traffic.
2. Content Marketing:
Content is king in the digital world. Creating high-quality, relevant content can attract and engage your target audience. For example, a Gold Coast travel agency could maintain a blog with tips on the best places to visit, events happening around the city, and hidden gems only locals know about. This not only helps with SEO but also establishes your business as an authority in the field.
3. Social Media Marketing:
Gold Coast is a visual paradise, making social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook perfect for marketing. Share stunning visuals of the coastline, behind-the-scenes looks at your business, customer testimonials, and upcoming events. Engage with your audience by responding to comments and messages, running contests, and using relevant hashtags to increase your reach.
4. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising:
With pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, you may post adverts on search engines and only be charged when someone clicks on them. This can be a very powerful strategy for increasing targeted website visitors. Google Ads and social media advertising platforms like Facebook Ads offer sophisticated targeting options, ensuring your ads are seen by the right people at the right time.
5. Email Marketing:
Building an email list and regularly communicating with your subscribers can be a powerful way to nurture leads and maintain customer relationships. Offer valuable content, special promotions, and personalized messages to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.
Case Study: A Gold Coast Café's Digital Marketing Success
To illustrate the impact of digital marketing, let's look at a hypothetical case study of a local Gold Coast café, "Coastal Brews."
Challenge:
Coastal Brews, a quaint beachfront café, struggled to attract customers outside of peak tourist seasons. The owner wanted to increase year-round foot traffic and build a loyal customer base.
Strategy:
1. Local SEO: Coastal Brews optimized their website for local search terms like "best coffee in Gold Coast" and ensured their Google My Business listing was up-to-date with accurate information and positive reviews.
2. Content Marketing: They started a blog featuring articles on coffee brewing techniques, profiles of local suppliers, and upcoming events at the café. This content was shared on social media to drive traffic to their website.
3. Social Media Marketing: Stunning photos of their coffee, food, and beachfront location were posted regularly on Instagram and Facebook. They ran contests encouraging customers to share their own photos with a specific hashtag for a chance to win a free coffee.
4. PPC Advertising: Targeted Google Ads were set up to attract tourists searching for coffee shops in Gold Coast, especially during off-peak seasons.
5. Email Marketing: Coastal Brews collected email addresses through a sign-up form on their website, offering a discount on the first purchase. They sent monthly newsletters with updates, special offers, and personalized messages to subscribers.
Results:
Within six months, Coastal Brews saw a 40% increase in website traffic and a 25% increase in year-round foot traffic. Their social media following grew significantly, and they built a loyal community of regular customers.
Tips for Implementing Your Digital Marketing Strategy
1. Know Your Audience:
To determine their preferences, habits, and pain points, conduct market research. Adapt your online marketing strategies to their requirements and preferences.
2. Set Clear Goals:
Clearly state the goals you have for your digital marketing approach. Whether it's increasing website traffic, generating leads, or boosting sales, having clear goals will guide your efforts and help measure success.
3. Stay Updated:
The digital marketing landscape is constantly evolving. Stay informed about the latest trends, tools, and best practices to keep your strategies effective and up-to-date.
4. Monitor and Adjust:
Utilize analytics tools to assess your digital marketing performance on a regular basis.
Analyze what's working and what's not, and be prepared to adjust your strategies accordingly.
5. Engage with Your Audience:
Building a relationship with your audience is key to long-term success. Respond to comments and messages, encourage user-generated content, and show appreciation for your customers' support.
Conclusion
In the bustling business environment of Gold Coast, digital marketing is no longer optional—it's essential. By leveraging SEO, content marketing, social media, PPC advertising, and email marketing, you can reach a wider audience, engage with potential customers, and drive growth for your business. Whether you're a local café, a real estate agency, or a boutique shop, digital marketing offers the tools and opportunities to boost your business and stand out in the competitive Gold Coast market. Put these tactics into practice right now, and you'll see your company grow.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
April 26, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
APR 27, 2024
Yesterday, in a long story about “the petty feud between the [New York Times] and the White House,” Eli Stokols of Politico suggested that the paper’s negative coverage of President Joe Biden came from the frustration of its publisher, A. G. Sulzberger, at Biden’s refusal to do an exclusive interview with the paper. Two people told Stokols that Sulzberger’s reasoning is that only an interview with an established paper like the New York Times “can verify that the 81-year-old Biden is still fit to hold the presidency.”
For his part, Stokols reported, Biden’s frustration with the New York Times reflects “the resentment of a president with a working-class sense of himself and his team toward a news organization catering to an elite audience,” and their conviction that the newspaper is not taking seriously the need to protect democracy.
A spokesperson for the New York Times responded to the story by saying the idea that it has skewed its coverage out of pique over an interview is “outrageous and untrue,” and that the paper will continue to cover the president “fully and fairly.”
Today, Biden sat for a live interview of more than an hour with SiriusXM shock jock Howard Stern. Writer Kurt Andersen described it as a “*Total* softball interview, mostly about his personal life—but lovely, sweet, human, and Biden was terrific, consistently clear, detailed, charming, moving. Which was the point. SO much better than his opponent could do.”
Also today, the Treasury Department announced that the pilot program of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that enabled taxpayers to file their tax returns directly with the IRS for free had more users than the program’s stated goal, got positive ratings, and saved users an estimated $5.6 million in fees for tax preparation. The government had hoped about 100,000 people would use the pilot program; 140,803 did.
Former deputy director of the National Economic Council Bharat Ramamurti wrote on social media, “Of all the things I was lucky enough to work on, this might be my favorite. You shouldn’t have to pay money to pay your taxes. As this program continues to grow, most people will get pre-populated forms and be able to file their taxes with a few clicks in a few minutes.” Such a system would look much like the system other countries already use.
Also today, the Federal Trade Commission announced that Williams-Sonoma will pay a record $3.17 million civil penalty for advertising a number of products as “Made in USA” when they were really made in China and other countries. This is the largest settlement ever for a case under the “Made in USA” rule. Williams-Sonoma will also be required to file annual compliance certifications.
FTC chair Lina Khan wrote on social media: “Made in USA fraud deceives customers and punishes honest businesses. FTC will continue holding to account businesses that misrepresent where their product[s] are manufactured.”
In another win for the United Auto Workers (UAW), the union negotiated a deal today with Daimler Trucks over contracts for 7,300 Daimler employees in four North Carolina factories. The new contracts provide raises of at least 25% over four years, cost of living increases, and profit sharing. This victory comes just a week after workers at a Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, voted overwhelmingly to join the UAW.
Today was the eighth day of Trump’s criminal trial for his efforts to interfere with the 2016 election by paying to hide negative information about himself from voters and then falsifying records to hide the payments. David Pecker, who ran the company that published the National Enquirer tabloid, finished his testimony.
In four days on the stand, Pecker testified that he joined Michael Cohen and others in killing stories to protect Trump in the election. Trump’s longtime executive assistant Rhona Graff took the stand after Pecker, and testified that both Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels were in Trump’s contacts. Next up was Gary Farro, a bank employee who verified banking information that showed how Michael Cohen had hidden payments to Daniels in 2016.
Once again, Trump appeared to be trying to explain away his lack of support at the trial, writing on his social media channel that the courthouse was heavily guarded. “Security is that of Fort Knox,” he wrote, “all so that MAGA will not be able to attend this trial….” But CNN’s Kaitlan Collins immediately responded: “Again, the courthouse is open [to] the public. The park outside, where a handful of his supporters have gathered on [trial] days, is easily accessible.”
Dispatch Politics noted today that when co-chairs Michael Whatley and Lara Trump and senior campaign adviser Chris LaCivita took over the Republican National Committee (RNC), they killed a plan to open 40 campaign offices in 10 crucial states and fired 60 members of the RNC staff. According to Dispatch Politics, Trump insisted to the former RNC chair that he did not need the RNC to work on turning out voters. He wanted the RNC to prioritize “election integrity” efforts.
The RNC under Trump has not yet developed much infrastructure or put staff into the states. It appears to have decided to focus only on those that are key to the presidential race, leaving down-ballot candidates on their own.
While Trump appears to be hoping to win the election through voter suppression or in the courts, following his blueprint from 2020, Biden’s campaign has opened 30 offices in Michigan alone and has established offices in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Florida.
Finally today, news broke that in her forthcoming book, South Dakota governor Kristi Noem wrote about shooting her 14-month-old dog because it was “untrainable” and dangerous. “I hated that dog,” she wrote, and she recorded how after the dog ruined a hunting trip, she shot it in a gravel pit. Then she decided to kill a goat that she found to be “nasty and mean” as well as smelly and aggressive. She “dragged him to the gravel pit,” too, and “put him down.”
Noem has been seen as a leading contender for the Republican vice presidential nomination on a ticket with Trump, and it seems likely she was trying to demonstrate her ruthlessness—a trait Trump appears to value—as a political virtue. But across the political spectrum, people have expressed outrage and disgust. In The Guardian, Martin Pengelly said her statement, “I guess if I were a better politician I wouldn’t tell the story,” was “a contender for the greatest understatement of election year.”

I'm really discouraged at the way linking to my art from Pillowfort has taken the responses down from 'a little bit' to 'almost non-existent'.*
But even with Glaze 2.0 out now I'm still not willing to post my art openly on a shady site that's sold the rights to data it doesn't own. I'm not voluntarily increasing the risk of having my hard work stolen for the AI slop bucket.
(All the 'opt out' toggle is is a meek request that doesn't have to be listened to. Given that the data already got scraped without telling us, and they accessed stuff they shouldn't have, this is just something to placate users.)
So I guess that's just what that costs.
I didn't forget the historical and enduring transphobia/transmisogyny, the racism, or the lack of transparency around mod bribery for bans either. Or the nonsensical overreaching censorship that's censoring or removing fine art or anatomy lessons while leaving up graphic spam porn.
And still not taking down a photo I've reported twice. One where a child/preteen (who has been persistently and wilfully engaging with 18+ content and spaces for a year) has now doxed themselves with a picture of their face and the location of their school. I won't be naming them publicly due to that sensitive personal information remaining up, but... Child safety my ass.
Not to mention a certain someone is coming back from leave this month, and it's uncertain what actions regarding Tumblr he might take.
And who knows, I could just get unexpectedly banned for openly complaining like this.
I wish there was a way to have access to the wealth of references and tutorials and fandom interactions in a way that didn't mean putting up with how things are now. There are RSS feeds but that could prove to be a hassle and I'd miss certain people.
I wish backing up your Tumblr wasn't such a huge intimidating chore, and that you could be certain of being able to access things again in an organised way from the backup.
This site is just getting scummier and less user friendly by the day.
If friends and fandom community weren't largely located here and other places were more active I'd probably already be gone.
*Much appreciation for the people who do bother to look and respond. Respect.
I'm just saddened and frustrated that not playing along with disrespectful and potentially illegal actions means my reach gets obliterated. When a lot of my motivation for doing and sharing art is contributing to fandoms and knowing that people enjoyed it.

I would just like to say a few things:
I was honestly taken aback by this, because even if they won‘t believe me, why not share the info anyway? Or at least respond to it? If there is nothing to what I say, then it could be quickly invalidated or? Unless the two know exactly that I'm right and are afraid of when it comes out.
Here's the thing anon, there really ISN'T a way to verify. They would have to specifically know people who work at those cons and neither of them are based in that area so it's less likely they have connects over there (obviously still possible, but not as likely as for US cons). And even then, they would only be able to verify it for themselves and would still not be able to offer proof. Granted only one of those two cares about showing receipts... it still isn't something that "could be quickly invalidated"
And look at the line up of the English cons and tell me that you could not have paid Jared‘s fee to run various duo shots!
Now about this, even IF they are going to two separate cons from the same company there could be a few reasons for that which have nothing to do with them avoiding each other. As @laf-outloud already mentioned - it's a smart business decision to get a little distance between them since they are still so tied together publicly even years after SPN has ended. With the way CE cons run it would be impossible to really get the separation there (and they have been exclusive there forever when it comes to US cons) so their only chance to really do that is overseas cons.
But you also have to think about it fiscally. Yes, the cons may be run by the same umbrella company but I also bet they have allotted money for each con and with other big names, they can't afford both at one individual con without having to cancel other big name guests who are a draw. Another thing is the fans spending. If they get both J2 at one con then to cover to extra costs they would probably have to increase the prices of ops and autos. That limits the number of fans who can afford to purchase tickets for both and some would pick between the two, meaning less income for the con and J2 themselves. By splitting them, the fans of each don't have to choose and can spend money on one J and also other guests. Plus, splitting them up means a bigger draw to each con (since we've seen how quickly they can both sell out cons). If they were together at one then all the draw would be there, with the split there is an added draw to both cons.
If I'm lying, why is Creation now releasing the second convention for 2024 with only Jensen as headliner but not with Jared? It can't be the money, because Creation takes the same amount for the tickets as usual. And schedule difficulties during an official strike ? Hardly.
First, just because he isn't added now, doesn't mean he can't be added later. And yes the strike is effecting work, but they might still have tentative schedules in place based on when they think the strikes might end. They are surely going to get right back to work when the strikes are over so he might have some idea about work schedules going forward.
But there are also rumors (unverifiable of course) about CE cons and that J2 signed on again but for less cons. Hypothetically speaking (because I do NOT know any specifics, this is simply me giving an example) if they each signed on for 6 cons for 2024 but CE wants to run 10 then there are going to be cons that have one and not the other, that's just logistics and doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm sure if they wanted to do more than what they signed on for, CE would be more than happy to accommodate because J2 is their real money maker, but if they really did sign on for less and that rumor is true, then the CE con landscape is going to change quite a bit in 2024. I personally think that if this rumor is true, we are going to see Jared do the amount he signed on for, and Jensen will do those plus additional CE cons. We've seen he doesn't want to let go of SPN and with the spending the Ackles do (10mil mansion anyone?? That clothes budget....) they can't really give up that income.
You make some great points, anon. Thank you for sharing! It would make sense to split the pair up and draw more SPN fans to multiple cons than to have them all gathered at one con.
I would be really interested if your speculation about the Creation schedule were true, mainly because I'd love to see how different a Jensen-only led Creation con would work vs. a Jared-only led con.

A Yale professor suggested that Japan's old people should kill themselves in a mass suicide, and it made him a celebrity
By Joshua Zitser, Insider, https://www.businessinsider.com/
A Yale professor said in an interview that mass suicide could solve Japan's aging population issue.
His controversial opinions have made him popular with Japan's youth, per The New York Times.
Yusuke Narita now has a large social media following and even appeared in an energy drink advert.
A Yale professor who suggested that mass suicide could be the solution to Japan's aging population has gained celebrity status among the country's youth, even appearing in an advertisement for energy drinks, The New York Times reported.
Yusuke Narita, an assistant professor of economics at Yale University, has argued for the controversial solution to Japan's aging population in several public appearances and interviews, The Times reported.
Japan has the highest proportion of elderly citizens of any country in the world, and the percentage of the population aged over 65 has steadily increased since the 1950s.
Last month, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the country was on the verge of a crisis.
In an interview with an online Japanese news program in December 2021, Narita said a "pretty clear solution" would be the introduction of mass suicide, or mass "seppuku" of the elderly.
Seppuku refers to the ritual suicide of samurai, which historically involved self-disembowelment.
When pressed by a teenager on his mass seppuku theory last year, Narita referred to a scene in the 2019 horror film "Midsommar" in which an elderly person is sent to die by suicide by jumping off a cliff, according to The Times.
"Whether that's a good thing or not, that's a more difficult question to answer," Narita said, per the newspaper. "So if you think that's good, then maybe you can work hard toward creating a society like that."
He has also discussed euthanasia, a politically contentious debate in Japan, saying that making assisted suicide mandatory in the future will "come up in discussion," The Times reported.
In speaking of euthanasia, Narita has sometimes mentioned his mother, who had an aneurysm when she was 19, describing how caring for her costs him 100,000 yen ($755) a month, per the newspaper.
The controversial positions have worried some Japanese policymakers, with critics concerned that it could lead to the kind of public feeling that resulted in a 1948 eugenics law, The Times reported.
The Eugenic Protection Law allowed for voluntary and involuntary sterilizations of people with hereditary diseases, mental illnesses, and intellectual disabilities.
Despite his detractors, Narita has gained a large following in Japan among young people who feel like the older generations are stunting their economic progress.
He has more than 550,000 followers on Twitter, regularly appears on online Japanese shows, has been on magazine covers, and appeared in an advertisement for energy drinks, The Times said.
Speaking to The Times, Narita said his comments have largely been taken out of context, and his focus is on the dominance of "tycoons" in Japan.
He also told the newspaper that using the terms "mass suicide" and "mass seppuku" was intended only as "abstract metaphors," adding that he has since stopped using those phrases.
Narita did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Leona Info Compilation part 5: Ruggie (pt 3)
We see Leona employ Ruggie in a variety of tasks, such as protecting him during Beanfest (for a “daily special” from the cafeteria every day for a week), taking on his tasks during Vargas Camp (for a shopping trip that Ruggie took with Leona’s money) and recruit new students for the spell drive club (for doughnuts).
Ruggie points that out he has nothing but large bills and Leona responds, “Why’re you getting all hung up on the details?" Ruggie reflects that Leona probably wouldn’t even notice if he kept more in change than what the detergent costs, saying, “far be it from me to look a gift horse in the mouth, though.
Leona also helps with Ruggie’s education, as Night Raven College is Ruggie’s first time in a school.
Leona does not seem to like the food at the school cafeteria (calling the steaks “cheap” in Book 6) which makes sense, as he is a prince, and he is one of the strictest judges in Culinary Crucible (on par with Vil), grading meals with a 4 that Ruggie grades as 8.
However, Ruggie has a voice lines saying, “When it comes to cooking, all I can do it throw together whatever’s on hand, but it seems like Leona doesn’t care as long as it’s edible.”
This seems to insinuate that Leona either just prefers Ruggie’s cooking in particular, or at the very least he refuses to complain about it.

had a really bizarre experience today. cw political conspiracy theories and the racism/antisemitism/islamophobia that entails + homophobia/transphobia. long post, kind of rambling, it’s almost 3am, might delete later.
long story short I was in a situation where I was in a gathering of 4 adult (40s-60s), white, moderately wealthy trump republicans. one of which was my father, a woman who is an acquaintance of my father, and the other two were a couple. my father is a trump republican from the economically conservative side– he’s not on twitter, he like watching the stock market ticker on fox news, he likes the idea of trump as a political outsider. (our relationship is strained for it, and we avoid discussing it.) the woman was a trump republican from the side of so-called culture war– she expresses her views online, she thinks the american youth are devolved from her generation, her husband is a retired police officer so she has a lot of opinions about racism in america.
so obviously this group got to talking politics. this was not a conversation I wanted to participate in, but they were adamant they wanted my participation in it, and I wasn’t in a place where I could leave or refuse without causing larger issues. I was calm, I was safe enough to disclose my views come from being a lesbian, and in general I tried to respond as neutrally as possible.
the woman in particular told me directly, multiple times, how I only hold my opinions because I’ve been indoctrinated. she said “indoctrinated” so many times, it was just absolutely bizarre to say that to someone’s face. she repeatedly interjected that she wanted me to feel safe to share my opinions with her, that she didn’t want me to feel ganged up on, while insisting I wasn’t at fault for anything I said because I was indoctrinated.
in this conversation, I was asked if I believed in the “lgbtqia,” because “there are gay people who don’t believe in it, you don’t have to join,” as if it’s an organization. someone offhandedly mentioned “the transsexual issue.” they discussed a conspiracy theory that obama could have destroyed all racism in america in 2008, but instead allowed an islamic brotherhood to come into the white house take over all foreign policy. that obama still controls the current biden administration as a puppet master. they held a firm belief that the younger generation dislikes capitalism from pure laziness and entitlement.
when I said a lot of younger people don’t see themselves settling into economically conservative views with age because they don’t see the opportunities to gain wealth afforded to previous generations, the couple proudly told me about how they earned everything they had by working through college and getting good jobs. in the same breath, they also told me their daughter (my age) had never worked a day because of her indoctrination, and will be graduating college with what’s basically a mortgage in debt. I said exactly, you were able to pay your way through college and enter the workforce, but that’s impossible for your daughter to do because of increased cost + stagnating wages, plus her degree is now a requirement for entry level corporate work, not a bonus, so she will have a harder time accumulating wealth. they laughed it off because they’re convinced the situation is a moral failing on their daughter’s part, and doesn’t reflect on american economics or their parenting at all.
when it came to gay indoctrination in schools, I said well a hundred years ago left handed students were beaten for not using their right hand, and so all students were right handed. a decrease in anti-gay violence allows more students to express and experiment with how they want to be. it’s not that there’s an explosion of gay people since you were in school, they just weren’t safe to come out before. that bit sort of got through a little, but they were insistent that are “new identities” being pushed onto kids, and how could anyone ever want to be anything but straight? I would’ve lost my shit if we really got into it on these ones, but thankfully the topics shifted.
it was just one bizarre “why would you ever say this to another person in real life?” moment after the next. like are you willfully stupid or do you actually think your generation solved all problems in the world when you decided to settle down, and now everything else is extraneous nonsense made to make you look bad? do you really think your sheltered opinions matter on intercommunity issues? do you not understand how insane and rude and entitled you sound? I never expected or desired to change any of these people’s minds on anything, I was just trying to get through the interaction walking the tightrope of asserting myself so I wouldn’t hate myself after and not devolving into argument that would be counterproductive to the bigger situation going on.
the interesting thing is though, my dad didn’t say a word throughout the entire discussion. I know he agreed with them on a lot of points, but he never spoke against them, or to defend me from pointed comments made towards me. and after, when he was apologizing that it got political, he said he didn’t say anything because he was hoping they would stop. he didn’t try to change the topic, he didn’t speak up for me, he just let it happen, and apologized that it “wasn’t a safe space” for me after. and I think that’s really telling about trump republicans in general. his disapproval was entirely silent because he was not willing to speak against the others on any particular point, even the insane shit, even when it was hurting someone he loved directly in front of him, because that would destroy his credibility in the eyes of the other trump republicans. it really is a fascist fucking movement.
