how did you learn volume so well! any tip about it? your art is stunning with how you understand fur and also overall anatomy, been struggling to find good refs to study
ok so aaauu i was thinking about how to approach this bc volume is the #1 hardest thing for me to verbalize i think. but i do want to help so badly. if you mean "volume" as in trying to make things look 3d
^ my personal way of learning was to set a ""spine line"" which made it easier for me because its a single line and you can kind of take your time deciding how it lies. twisting it to the sides can express rotation along the form (i.e. look near the end of the tail). also notice that its not always visible when it goes behind the form
then you can use the line to map out segments along the form? and i do wish i could explain it better but its like trying to fit flat 2d shapes inside of it. you could also look at resources about the "coil technique" although i havent really used it much myself. i actually dont map segments out like this either but i hope it helps a bit visually
my favorite way of expressing this in my art was to just design a bunch of characters with flat band-stripes :) even if you have really simple lineart alone, you can kind of count on markings or shading to give away the form (some "trust the process" type thing)
one more thing. i tried to draw a segment rotating. this is probably the simplest way i could try to explain foreshortening bc its like all the lines on the form get denser / closer-together until youre left with an inconspicuous little 2d shape that toootally does not have a third dimension sitting behind it. and its like that on the first step, too, so vice versa
even if that didnt de-mystify it i understand bc trying to describe a 3d illusion in art is. weird

Draw an ear with three lines
I can't count how many times over the years I've heard people say that human ears are really complicated and super hard to draw. And they are pretty weird looking things. All the curves and planes can be especially challenging when viewed from certain angles (The one that gets me every time is when you're mostly seeing an ear from behind. Like man, what is that weird flappy bastard).
Anyway. In most of the art I see on Tumblr, ears are drawn from the side (when your faves are smooching, am I right?), at a three-quarters angle, or from the front. Front views can vary a lot depending on how much someone's ears stick out from their head, but side views are more or less the same across the board.
Sooo, I wanted to share a really simple formula of sorts for drawing ears from the side. And if you want to depict an ear from a different angle, I think these basic lines can still be useful—along with a photo references, a mirror, or selfie mode on your phone.
Here ya go:

It doesn't matter in what order you draw the lines, but I recommend doing the outermost one first. And from those three simple lines, you can work out a rough sketch with some suggestions of depth and shading:

Of course, some people's earlobes attach differently, so you don't get the little curl at the bottom, and there's infinite variation in the specific shapes, but that's the gist.
I hope it's helpful! If anyone tries out, tag me so I can see :)

incredible. one person (scammer that tries you to commission them, runs with your money or gives you AI stuff) made a post with art they didn't make searching for work. the other person (scammer that tries to buy art from you, sends you a fake chargeback and runs with your money) tried to ask the other person for art.
we've done it. we've reached scammers trying to scam each other. dead internet is here

Hi, I noticed your story has conflict in it, and I was wondering why you didn't just write people who are right doing everything correctly with a note saying "I enthusiastically co-sign everything in this story"? Must be some kind of mistake haha

A serious (and seemingly obvious) problem with the implementation of the Online Safety Act is that it requires malicious actors to not exist.
Since the UK govenment in any form hates paying for things, especially things required for their goals, the current situation is that websites have to work out to do age verification themselves. There is no government-approved or provided service for this - it's a free-for-all of third-party verification providers.
Now, some people are pointing out that depending on how these companies handle the data given to them to perform verification, it's possible this data could be stolen or leaked. This is a worrying possibility. This danger is primarily one of passive incompetence, although if your driver's licence gets leaked, you won't be happy either way.
But passive incompetence probably isn't going to hurt anyone before active malice does.
Normalising showing your face or identity documents to random websites is an incredibly stupid thing to do. You know who benefits from this? Actual criminals! Phishing attacks continue to be successful because people will put their banking details into websites that are very much not their banks. And while random websites asking for your banking details is suspicious, the OSA makes it so that random websites asking for your driver's license or passport or other such things will now be expected.
Meaning an enterprising criminal can set up a website, stick a fake age verification pop-up on it, and harvest a whole bunch of things that come in useful for committing identity theft. Or blackmail perhaps.
The overall point here is that in this respect, the Online Safety Act is going to make the internet more dangerous, in a way that should be obvious if you actually think about the potential negative consequences.

this is not my screenshot
discord has been pushing its new uk online safety act changes early for some users. this screenshot belongs to a 32 year old who used discords built in face scanner to verify their age. the scanner said they were 11 years old, and instantly suspended the account, with no option to try again or appeal, and the suspension will automatically end in 2027, when they’re “old enough” to use discord.
DO NOT SCAN YOUR FACE TO VERIFY YOUR AGE
if you really want to verify your age, use a different option available. don’t trust the face scan.

Do not give you information to YouTube. Do not give your information to Discord. Do not give your information to any website.
Do not give your information to any big American company hiding behind the "protect the kids" excuse.
Fight it. Pirate content. Brute force your way in or try and find a place that won't comply.
This is a huge step in the wrong direction and we must fight this together across all borders and lines because this will effect everyone who uses the internet
Fuck KOSA and OSA. Fuck the government and all the politicians who voted yes for these disgusting bills.
Call your local politicians. Tell them that if they vote for this, you will not vote for them in the next upcoming election they have. Let them know this is a serious breach of constituent trust.

With all due respect, if an app or website asks me to scan my face so that an AI can check if I'm an adult, I don't care about the claims that they don't use my data or delete any pics I take for this purpose, I am leaving the fucking website and never coming back.
