Note: This is part of the In London universe, and it can be read standalone. I strongly recommend reading them in order of release (you can find that in the masterlist)
Summary: Rafe's actions after she leaves Kildare.
Rafe sat hunched over his phone, his fingers trembling as he repeatedly hit the dial button. His heart raced with every unanswered ring, every text left unread. He had been blowing up her phone for hours, his calls and messages growing more frantic with each passing minute. He'd tried everything—texts begging for her to talk to him, voicemails soaked in regret—but still, no response.
Desperation gnaws at him as he moves on to her mom, calling her in the middle of the night, sounding more like a man on the edge than someone who had once been her daughter’s boyfriend. “Do you know where she is? Please, I just need to know she’s okay.” Her mother’s voice on the other end was calm but firm. “I don’t know, Rafe. She’s not here, you need to stop calling me.”
But Rafe didn’t want to hear that. He couldn’t. He wasn’t ready to accept it. He wasn’t ready to admit that she was gone, that she had walked away from him for good. The weight of his own betrayal crushed him, each memory of the lies, the mistakes, and Kiara sinking deeper into his chest. He had cheated on her. He had broken her trust in the worst way possible, and now, she was gone, and he couldn’t undo any of it.
The truth echoed louder than his panic. She wouldn’t forgive him. Not this time.
His chest tightens, and a bitter laugh escapes his lips, though it lacks any humor. The room felt suffocating, the walls closing in as the harsh reality set in. Rafe throws his phone down onto the bed, his hands clutching at his hair as he sinks into the dark silence of his room. He missed her so damn much.
His heart ached in a way he hadn’t known was possible. The space she used to fill in his life was now a gaping hole, one that he had created. He knew it, and there was no running from it. No matter how many times he tried to reach out, no matter how many calls he made, nothing would bring her back. He had pushed her away, and now she was gone.
Tears well up in his eyes, but he can’t bring himself to cry. It wasn’t fair. None of it was fair. The only person he wanted to talk to, to hold, was the one person he could never have again.
Rafe collapsed back against the bed, staring up at the ceiling, his chest heaving with each breath as the weight of his actions finally, fully, crashed down on him. She was gone. And it was his fault.
+++
Days blurred into one another as Rafe spiraled. The emptiness inside him became unbearable, so he sought anything to numb the pain, anything to stop the relentless ache that gnawed at his insides. At first, it was just a drink or two to take the edge off. But soon, it wasn’t enough. The alcohol didn’t dull the sting, it didn't silence the screaming thoughts in his head. It only fueled them.
He finds himself drinking more and more, drowning himself in whiskey until his vision blurs and his mind fogs over. He’d been here before. When his dad had put too much pressure on him to take over the company, when he felt like he wasn’t enough and his dad would never love him like a dad should love their son. When she had made him feel like he would never be good enough for her. When she told him that his dad’s love was not the end all be all and that he had people who loved him for who he was. He couldn’t see it then. He was blinded by the hurt of his father, of his shortcomings, of her sharp tongue when he was already down. Drugs had taken the edge off. Drugs had also lowered his inhibitions so much that he ended up in bed with Kiara,
It’s not long before he starts reaching for pills again, molly, oxy, whatever he can get his hands on. Barry refuses to give him any cocaine and he doesn’t want to go out of his way to find another dealer so he settles for anything that would give him that brief escape.
The high was fleeting, but in those moments, he didn’t feel the crushing weight of his own regret. He didn’t feel the agony of her absence, the constant reminder of his betrayal.
He starts partying, staying out late, surrounded by people who don’t care about him, who don’t know the real him. It didn’t  matter. All that mattered was the numbness, the temporary relief from the gnawing pain in his chest. The people he hangs out with don’t know any better so they  encourage him, laugh with him, feed into the destructive cycle. They don’t know what is really going on, they just saw a guy who was letting loose, having fun.
But when the alcohol hits its peak, when the drugs blurr his thoughts even more, Rafe’s mask begins to slip. The walls he’d built around his vulnerability came crashing down, and his desperation, his grief, poured out in ways he couldn’t control.
One night, after hours of drinking, Rafe stumbles into the kitchen, barely able to stand. He leaned against the counter, his breath heavy, his body unsteady. His friends are still partying in the other room, laughing, not noticing the storm brewing inside him. He pulls out his phone,  scrolling through the contacts until he finds her name. His thumb hovers over the call button, but before he can press it, his phone slips from his hand, crashing to the floor.
“Call her,” he mumbles, his voice slurring. He turns to the stranger in the room with him, his eyes wide with panic. “Please, someone
 call her for me.”
The stranger looks at him like he has two heads “uh what?” Rafe sinks to his knees trying to grab his phone from under a cabinet. The stranger gives the drunk man an uncomfortable glance and looks towards the person entering the kitchen.
“Rafe.” Barry says, trying to hoist him up by his armpits.
Barry had been watching him, he didn't know what to say or how to help. Rafe had never been like this before. His pain was raw, and it was too much for the group to handle. They tried to get him to sit down, to stop drinking, but Rafe couldn’t hear them. All he could hear was the silence from her side of the phone, the echo of her absence.
“Please
” he whispered again, his voice barely audible now. His eyes were glassy, pleading. “Tell her I’m sorry. Tell her I love her. I’ll fix it, I swear, just—just make her come back. Please.”
Sarah has been quietly observing from the doorway. She has been worried about him for weeks now, ever since he’d started disappearing for days at a time, since the drinking and drugs began to take over. She knew something was wrong, but she had no idea how bad it had gotten.
She stepped forward, her heart aching at the sight of her brother, broken and lost in a way she’s never seen before. “Rafe
” she said softly, trying to get his attention. “You need to stop, okay? You’re not okay. You’re going down a bad path.”
Rafe looked at her, his eyes blurry with tears and alcohol. “I don’t care anymore, Sarah. I fucked up. I ruined everything. I need her back. I can’t breathe without her.”
The desperation in his voice cracks Sarah’s heart. She didn’t know what to say. She didn’t know how to fix this. She had always looked up to her older brother, the version he had been when she was still here, but now
now he seemed like a stranger, lost in his own self-destruction.
“Please, Rafe,” she said, her voice trembling. “Stop doing this to yourself. She’s not coming back, not like this. You have to deal with what you did. You can’t keep hiding from it.”
Rafe’s face twits in pain. “I don’t know how, Sarah. I don’t know how to live without her. I don’t know what to do.”
Tears well up in Sarah’s eyes as she reaches out to him, but he pulls away, stumbling back to the couch, his head buried in his hands.
“Don’t leave me,” he mumbled, his voice hoarse. “Please, just don’t leave me.”
The words hung in the air, and Sarah felt the weight of them crash down on her. Her brother, the one who had always been so strong, the one who had always protected her, was now broken beyond repair. And she didn’t know how to fix him.
She had to do something. But what? She can’t watch him self-destruct, but she doesn’t know how to pull him out of this darkness. All she can do is stay by his side, even as he pushes everyone away, even as he continues to spiral further.
+++
Rafe's grief had consumed him, and all he could do was keep chasing the high, hoping for a moment of numbness, a fleeting escape from the reality that she was gone, that she wasn’t coming back,  and that he had destroyed everything.
His desperation had grown so all-consuming that nothing else mattered, nothing except the faint, impossible hope that she would somehow hear him. The numbness from the alcohol and pills was starting to wear off, but the pain in his chest never subsided. Every morning felt like waking up in a nightmare, each day blending into the next, a haze of drunken nights and clouded judgment. He didn’t care anymore. He just couldn’t bear the silence, the empty spaces that she once filled in his life.
He knew he was sinking lower and lower, but that doesn’t  matter either. All that matters is finding a way to get her to talk to him, to forgive him. To make everything right again. Deep down, he knew it wasn’t possible.
The first time it happened was at a party, a random night that blurs together with all the others. He had been drinking heavily, trying to drown out the thought of her. But it doesn’t work. He sits with Kelce and Barry, laughing with them like everything’s fine, like he hasn’t just spent the entire afternoon staring at her name on his phone, willing it to light up with a message from her.
"Hey," Rafe slurred, looking over at Kelce, who was texting someone on his phone. "Give me your phone."
Kelce barely looked up, too drunk to notice the desperation in Rafe’s voice. "What? Why?"
"Just—just give me your damn phone," Rafe insists, his tone harder than he intended, making it clear that this isn’t a suggestion.
Kelce, unfazed by the anger in Rafe’s voice, handed it over with a casual shrug. "Fine, whatever. Don’t break it or whatever."
Rafe doesn’t waste a second. His hands are shaking as he unlocks the phone, the screen blurring with the alcohol-induced haze in his vision. He scrolls through the contacts with a feverish urgency, finding her name and hovering over it. His thumb hesitates over the call button, just for a moment, but that moment feels like an eternity. Then, without thinking, he presses it.
The phone rings. And rings.
His heart pounds in his chest as each ring seems to echo louder in his mind, each one a cruel reminder of how far gone he is, how hopeless this all feels. His thumb hovers over the screen, ready to hang up if she doesn’t answer, but he can’t bring himself to do it. What if, somehow, this time she picks up? What if this was the moment when everything changes?
But no. The call goes to voicemail, as it always does. Rafe curses under his breath, throwing Kelce’s phone down onto the table as if he’d just been slapped.
"Fuck!" he shouts, the frustration spilling out of him. "Why won’t she just talk to me?"
Kelce, now realizing how badly things had gotten, gives him a sidelong glance. "Dude, maybe you should just
lay off it for a bit. You’ve been at this for weeks now. It’s not helping, man."
Rafe doesn’t care. doesn’t care about Kelce’s advice, doesn’t care about anything other than getting her back. He snatches up Barry’s phone next, his movements erratic, frantic. Barry is too caught up in the music to notice what Rafe is doing until it’s too late.
"Rafe, what the hell are you doing?" Barry asks, glancing at him with a confused frown.
Ignoring him, Rafe is already calling her number. His thumb feels heavy, but he can’t stop. Every time the call goes unanswered, every time he hears the voicemail greeting, a part of him dies inside.
"Come on, sweetheart," he whispers into the phone, as if she could hear him. "Please, just pick up."
But she never does.
When the call ends, Rafe slumps back against the couch, his chest heaving as if the air was being sucked from the room. He’d been doing this every day, every single day, but it never got easier. The pain only deepened.
"Rafe, you need to stop this," Barry said, his voice quieter now, tinged with concern. "You’re killing yourself, man."
But Rafe can’t stop. Every time he picks up someone else’s phone and calls, he holds on to that shred of hope—that maybe, just maybe, she’s just waiting for him to reach out one more time. Maybe she’s watching her phone, waiting for his message, longing to hear his voice like he’s longing to hear hers.
It was irrational. He knew it. But that doesn’t make it any less real.
As the days passed, the calls kept coming. Sometimes it was Kelce’s phone, sometimes it was Barry’s, sometimes even Sarah’s phone, though she had started keeping her own distance from him. Rafe doesn’t care. If there’s even the slightest chance that she would answer, he had to take it. He can’t bear the thought of never hearing her voice again.
Meanwhile, Sarah was getting increasingly worried. She can see her brother falling apart in ways she can’t help fix. She’d come into the room to find him sprawled out, drunk and high, his hands shaking as he fumbled with someone else’s phone, desperately dialing the number he  knows by heart. His eyes are bloodshot, his face gaunt, as if the weight of his guilt was crushing him.
One night, Sarah had found Rafe sitting on the edge of his bed, his head buried in his hands. The room was littered with empty bottles, and the air was thick with the smell of whiskey and stale smoke.
"Rafe," she said softly, trying to get through to him. "You have to stop. This isn’t you. This
this isn’t how you fix things."
He hadn’t responded. His body trembled with exhaustion, and his voice came out in a hoarse whisper. "I just need to hear her. Just one more time. Please, Sarah. Please
"
Sarah sank down beside him, her own tears threatening to spill. "I know you miss her. But you can’t keep doing this. You have to face what you did. You can’t fix it by drowning yourself in this... this mess."
Rafe looked at her with hollow eyes. "I ruined everything, Sarah. I lost her. I cheated. She’ll never forgive me."
Sarah shook her head, her heart breaking for him. "You don’t know that. But you’ll never find out if you keep destroying yourself like this."
Rafe hadn’t said anything else to her. He had just stared at the phone in his hand, his fingers had traced the screen as though somehome, that small gesture would get her to call back.
+++
Rafe doesn’t know how to stop. He doesn’t know how to fix what’s broken. All he has now is hope—no matter how irrational—that one of these calls, one of these desperate pleas, might bring her back.
His mind races as he sits on the couch, he grips his phone, the screen now dimmed and lifeless in his hand. The empty bottles on the coffee table seemed to mock him, their contents long gone, leaving only the lingering stench of whiskey and regret. The sounds of the party were muffled in the background, but Rafe can’t hear them anymore. All he can hear is the deafening silence from the other end of the phone, the void that had swallowed her up, and the ache that tore through him every moment she wasn’t there.
A conversation with Topper changes everything. It hits him like a ton of bricks.
Topper had been quiet for a while, his own guilt simmering just below the surface, but tonight, he seemed off. He kept glancing over at Rafe, as if debating something, and Rafe knew his friend had something to say. He’d been drinking, but the sudden shift in Topper’s demeanor made his gut tighten.
“Rafe,” Topper finally muttered, his voice low. “I need to tell you something.”
Rafe’s eyes flicked up from the phone in his hand. His pulse quickened. “What?”
Topper hesitates, his brow furrowing in discomfort. “Sarah and Sofia
 they know where she is.”
Rafe’s heart stops. The words hit him in the chest, like a punch he wasn’t ready for. His vision blurred as a wave of panic washes over him. “What the fuck do you mean, they know where she is?” he demands, rising from the couch and taking a step toward Topper, his voice shaking with frustration and disbelief.
Topper backs up slightly, holding his hands up in defense. “I don’t know how, man, but they do. Sarah told me. Sofia and her keep in touch.
Rafe’s breath comes in short, desperate gasps. He feels a knot of betrayal twist in his stomach. "And you didn’t think to fucking tell me?" His voice rises, the anger seeping in with the desperation. "You know how badly I need to find her, Topper. Why the hell didn’t you say anything sooner?"
Topper winces, running a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, dude. I didn’t think it was my place. Sarah made me promise... she said we should respect what she wants. She doesn’t want you to know where she is.”
The room suddenly feels cold, as if the walls are closing in on him. Rafe staggers back, staring at Topper as if he’d just betrayed him in the worst possible way. He had done everything to try to get her back, everything to fix the mess he’d made, but now, his own sister, his own flesh and blood, was protecting her, keeping secrets from him, just like everyone else.
Rafe doesn’t know what to say. He has to talk to Sarah and get her to tell him where his girl is. Where she’s staying, where he can find her. He has to convince Sarah that he deserves to know.
Topper watches him as if he can read his mind. He doesn’t say anything for a long moment. He doesn’t have to. Rafe can see it in the way his eyes shift uncomfortably. "You need to let it go, Rafe. I know you're hurting, but she’s made her choice. And you
 you need to accept it."
Rafe laughs bitterly, the sound of it harsh and broken. "Accept it?" He paces the room in a blur, his mind spinning. "You’re telling me to accept that she’s gone, that she won’t even talk to me because of what I did? That she’s hiding from me, and you—" He stops and turns on Topper, his voice rising, "—you knew, and you didn’t even tell me?"
"I don’t know where she is," Topper says quietly, but firmly. "I just found out that they do but they didn’t tell me anything. They promised her”
Rafe’s chest tightens as his fists clench, the words crashing against him like a tidal wave. The promises. The secrets. He had betrayed her in the worst way possible, and now it felt like everyone around him was betraying him, too. His mind races, his heart hammers, and it isn’t long before the panic begins to rise again.
"Where is she?" Rafe asks through gritted teeth, his voice barely above a whisper.
Topper shakes his head slowly. "I don’t know, man. I swear. You need to talk to Sarah if you want answers, but she won’t give you anything. She promised and she’s not gonna break it."
Rafe’s vision narrows, and a wave of cold fury surges through him. He can’t believe this is happening. He can’t believe that after everything, his own sister was keeping this from him. Keeping the love of his life from him as he suffered.
"You think you’re helping her, don’t you?" Rafe spits, his voice trembling with anger and pain.
"You think you’re protecting her from me-” he chokes over his words “like this is your retribution- like if- if she were to find out you were helping her she’ll forgive you. Well, you’re wrong.” Rafe spits “she will never forgive you. You are just as dead to her as I am.”
“You have no idea what I’d do just to talk to her, to apologize. To tell her that I’m sorry. But you all won’t let me. You’re all just
just standing there, watching me fall apart."
Topper flinches at the rawness in Rafe’s voice, but he doesn’t back down. "I’m sorry, man, but it’s not about what you want anymore. She’s made her choice. She’s not coming back unless she’s ready to."
The words hit Rafe harder than anything else. She’s not coming back.
He turns away from Topper, his hands running through his hair in frustration. He feels a storm brewing inside of him, the storm of all the guilt, the loneliness, the anger he had been carrying for weeks. The people around him who were supposed to care—his friends, his sister, the ones who had always been there—were now keeping him at arm’s length, blocking him from the one person he still needed most.
With a cold, angry look, Rafe grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair. “I don’t care about promises. I don’t care what you think is right anymore. I’ll find out where she is. And when I do, I’m going to make her listen to me. No one is going to stop me."
Topper doesn’t try to stop him this time. Instead, he just stares after Rafe, his face drawn with concern. He can see that the guy standing in front of him isn’t the same Rafe he was a month ago. This Rafe was broken beyond repair, desperate in a way that made his heart ache.
But there was nothing anyone could do anymore. Rafe was too far gone.
+++
Rafe paces back and forth in the quiet living room, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. The knot of guilt and frustration twists in his stomach, but there is something else there, too—anger. Anger that had been building since she left, since he had made that unforgivable mistake. And now, Sarah’s hiding her from him.
"Sarah," Rafe's voice is low, controlled, but underneath the surface, the tension is palpable. "You know where she is."
Sarah, sits on the couch with her legs tucked beneath her, looks up at him with a mixture of pity and caution. She has never seen Rafe like this before, desperate, broken, unhinged. She shakes her head, trying to keep her voice steady.
"I’m not going to tell you, Rafe. She left for a reason. She’s trying to move on."
Rafe's eyes narrow, his frustration spiking. "She left because of me. I need to fix it, Sarah. You have to understand that." He takes a step closer, his hands resting on the back of a nearby chair, gripping it as if he needs something solid to hold onto. "I know I messed up. But I can't live with this, without knowing where she is. Please, tell me. Help me make things right."
Sarah’s face softens, but her resolve doesn’t waver. She had seen her brother's remorse, had heard his pleas, but she also knew how hurt Yn was, how deep the wounds ran. Telling him where she was, would only lead to more pain.
"Rafe," she said quietly, her eyes not leaving his, "if you really want to fix things, you need to give her space. Let her come to you when she’s ready. Pushing her won’t change anything."
His jaw tightens, but he doesn't argue. Sarah has always been the one who tried to see the bigger picture, and in this case, she might have been right. But the ache inside him was too strong to ignore, and he could feel time slipping away. If he didn’t act now, he might lose her forever.
“I can’t just wait,” he mutters, his voice barely audible. “I can’t live with myself if I don’t try.”
Sarah looks at him, her heart aching for both of them, but she stands her ground. "Then you have to let her go. It’s the only way you’ll ever have a chance to get her back."
Rafe stands in silence for a long moment, his shoulders tense with the weight of the conversation. Finally, he nods, though the defeat in his posture was clear.
"Fine," he said, turning to leave the room. "But I’m not giving up on her. Not yet."
+++
Rafe walks into the rental house of some touron. It’s alive with noise, laughter, music, and the clinking of bottles.
But Rafe doesn’t care about any of that. He's only here because Sofia is here. He’s been trying to track her down for days. She had been dodging his phone calls and texts, probably because Sarah warned her that he knew they knew.
He stares at Sofia as she sits across the room on the couch, laughing with a group of friends. He hasn’t thought this plan through. He’s desperate, he’s high, and he’ll do anything to contact Yn.
Sofia’s phone rests causally on her lap. He had been waiting for this moment all night. His frustrations had reached a boiling point, and he needed to do something. Sofia knew where she was, which meant that they still talked to some extent.
He moved swiftly, weaving through the crowd, careful not to attract Sofia’s attention before he had a chance to snatch her phone. He reaches Sofia, leans in, and before anyone can react, grabs her phone from her lap. He continues walking swiftly through the crowd, no hesitation. He hears Sofia’s protests as he darts upstairs and into a room.
He’s lucky to have known Sofia for almost his entire life, he unlocks her phone without an issue, thankful that her password continues to be the same. It takes him a moment to find yn’s number. Maybe they aren’t talking as much as he thinks they are.
His heart pounds so loudly he can barely hear his own breath. He takes one last look around the empty room, bracing himself, before pressing the dial button.
The phone rings once. Twice. Three times.
And then, finally, it clicks.
“Hello?” her voice comes through, and it sends a shiver down his spine, He’s missed her. It sounds like she’s out, there’s wind, car horns, and people.
His throat tightens. He opens his mouth to speak, but no words come out at first. Hearing her voice again after everything, it’s  more than he can handle in that moment. He had screwed up so badly, and now, here she was, answering after everything he had done.
“Sof?” She asks curiously. She thinks it’s Sofia. Of course she does.
"Yn," he croaks, his voice raw, desperate. "It’s me. Please, just—just hear me out."
The silence on the other end of the line is heavy, suffocating. Rafe can feel her hesitation, the distance she had built between them. His heart races, and he takes a deep breath, pushing forward.
"Please, I need to talk to you. I—I know I don’t deserve it, but I can’t lose you, sweetheart. I’m such an idiot. I’ve hurt you, and I’ll never forgive myself for that, but I’m begging you, just—just give me a chance to make it right."
There’s a long pause before her voice finally breaks the silence, and when she speaks, it’s like every word comes with a weight that crushes Rafe’s chest.
"You need to stop calling me" her tone is sharp, edged with pain. "You can beg all you want, Rafe, but it doesn’t change anything. You’ve already hurt me too much. I can’t keep doing this with you."
Rafe’s stomach churns. He had known this moment was coming, but hearing her say it out loud still felt like a punch to the gut.
"I don’t expect you to forgive me," he whispers, his voice breaking. "But I’m asking for a chance, just one chance to prove to you that I can be better. That I can make up for what I did."
Her sigh echoes through the line, full of disappointment. "You don’t get it,"  her voice hardened. "I don’t want your apology. I don’t need your promises. I don’t want anything from you. You had your chance, Rafe. And you blew it."
Each word is a needle, piercing through the remnants of hope he had clung to. Rafe's chest tightens, but he refuses to give up. He presses on, voice shaking..
"Please. I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’m sorry for what I did. I can’t live with myself knowing I hurt you like this. Please, don’t shut me out."
Her voice softens for a fraction of a second, but it quickly hardens again, like a wall she had built between them.
"I don’t care how much you love me, Rafe. You broke me. I can’t go back to someone who would do that to me. Not even for you. I won’t forgive you. I won’t forget what you did. I’m done."
The finality in her words hit him like a slap. He could hear it in her voice, the resolve, the exhaustion, the pain she had carried for so long.
"No," Rafe whispered, his voice cracking, his heart shattering again. "Please
baby, please don’t say that. I can’t lose you. Come back, come back and be here with me."
There’s a long, painful silence. He thinks she might hang up, that this would be the end. But instead, her voice comes through one last time, softer but resolute.
"Goodbye, Rafe," she said quietly, her voice breaking ever so slightly. "Please don’t call me again."
The line goes dead, and Rafe stands there, staring at the phone in his hand, his whole world crumbling around him. He had known it was over, but hearing her say it—he couldn’t even breathe. The finality of it, the weight of it, crushed him in a way he never thought possible.
He had begged, he had pleaded, but it wasn’t enough. It would never be enough.
Rafe stands there, his heart still pounding in his chest, the phone burning a hole through his hand.  He barely registers as the door opens and Sofia Storms over, her eyes flashing with fury.
“What the hell, Rafe?” she snaps, yanking her phone out of his hands. Her fingers tremble from anger. "You can’t just take my phone and call her like that. Are you out of your mind?"
Yes, probably.
Rafe barely registers the sting of her words, his mind still stuck on the finality of Yn’s goodbye. His breath comes in short, ragged bursts. "Sofia," he pleads, his voice hoarse, "you know where she is. Please, I need to find her. Tell me where she is."
Sofia’s expression hardens, and she steps back, holding her phone close to her chest. The anger in her eyes, replaced with a deeper, almost sorrowful kind of disappointment.
“No,” she says firmly, her tone unwavering. “I’m not telling you. I won’t be the one to lead you to her.”
Rafe’s heart drops. "Please, Sofia. I can’t lose her. I’ve already lost so much. I—" His voice catches in his throat as he searches for the right words, anything to convince her.
Sofia shook her head, her eyes narrowing with resolve. "You don’t get it, do you? Even if I told you where she is, it wouldn’t matter." Her voice softened, but there was a quiet certainty there. "You wouldn’t find her in the way you think you will."
Rafe took a step forward, his desperation growing. “I don’t care! I just need to talk to her, to apologize. Please, Sofia, you don’t understand—”
“No, you don’t understand,” she interrupts, her voice cold but with a tinge of sadness. “You don’t get that Yn isn’t the same person anymore. And neither are you." Her eyes flicked to the phone in her hands, the device now a symbol of everything he had broken. “You think you can show up and fix it with a few words? With begging her to come back? You’ve changed, Rafe. And so has she."
His nails dig into his palms as he tries to ground himself. "I know I messed up. I ruined everything. But I can’t let her go. I love her, Sofia. I can’t just let her slip away without at least trying."
Sofia’s gaze softens, but her resolve doesn’t waver. "You love her? Then respect her, Rafe. Respect her space. If you really loved her, you wouldn’t be here, making things worse, acting like she owes you a chance." She lets out a sharp breath, almost as if she were trying to hold back tears. “You’re not the person she needs right now. And if you ever want a chance to make things right, you have to fix yourself first. Because this version of you? The one who’s so consumed by guilt and anger that he’ll stop at nothing to get her back? She won’t want anything to do with him.”
Rafe freezes, the weight of her words sinking in, like bricks falling one by one on his chest. "But I can’t change what happened," he whispers. "I can’t change the way I hurt her."
Sofia’s eyes softened, but her voice remained firm. “You’re right. You can’t change the past. But you can stop making it worse. If you really want her to come back, stop chasing after her. Start being the person she deserves—someone who respects her decision, even if it’s not what you want. If you can do that, maybe, just maybe, she’ll see a version of you worth coming back to.”
Rafe stands there, rooted to the spot, the pain of her words sinking deeper than anything he had ever felt. He had been so focused on finding Yn, so desperate to fix things, that he hadn’t seen the bigger picture.
Sofia turns away from him, but not before one last look over her shoulder. "Just stay out of her life okay? You’re not the only one suffering.”
Rafe watches as she disappears back into the party, the sounds of the music and laughter drowning out his thoughts. For the first time, he wasn’t sure what the next step was.
+++
It was just past midnight when Rafe finds himself mindlessly scrolling through social media, trying to numb the ache in his chest. His thoughts, his emotions, are a jumbled mess after everything with Yn, and he can’t seem to escape it. His thumb scrolls lazily across the screen as he passes post after post, most of them meaningless distractions. But then he freezes.
A post from Ruthie. Topper’s ex.
The picture shows her and a girl he doesn’t recognize, both beaming into the camera from some trendy bar. The caption read: "NC girls reunited." The location on the post reads “London, England.”
Ruthie hadn’t been around for long. She had realized that Topper wasn’t who she wanted to be with and left. For the short amount of time that she was around though, Yn had made her feel welcome. She had told him that she felt bad that Topper would invite her places and then leave her with a bunch of strangers.
When Ruthie moved to Charleston, he remembers Yn still keeping in touch. Maybe, just maybe, Ruthie knew where yn had gone.
Could it be?
He clicked on the profile of the girl tagged in Ruthie’s post. Amber. He scanned through her feed, his eyes darting from picture to picture. Amber was also from NC, she didn’t have anything that would say she knew yn.
He opens up her first post which was a carousel. He scrolls through and  doesn't see much until one picture makes his blood run cold.
There they were, Amber and Ruthie, standing side by side in a bathroom mirror, the kind of candid shot you’d post without thinking. The lighting wasn’t great, but what made his stomach churn, what made his heart stop, was the jacket.
The jacket.
He would recognize it anywhere. The leather, the slight distressing on the sleeves, the stitching that she had insisted on showing him. The one he had looked for day in and day out because she couldn’t stop talking about it. He had given her that jacket for their anniversary two years ago.
The one she’d wanted so badly.
It was only half in the frame, the bottom half peeking out from behind Amber, but it was enough.
Rafe’s breath catches in his throat. He leans in closer to the screen, his hands trembling slightly as he reads the caption: "Uni bathroom, Ruthie, ms future lawyer, and a dream."
His mind spins. Why would Yn be with them? Why would she be in London?
His thoughts collided with the memory of calling Yn the other night, at 2 AM, when it had sounded like she was in a busy place, a bustling one.A city that was awake. A different timezone. It was like his mind was piecing together a puzzle he hadn't even realized existed.
London. Ruthie and Amber.
The jacket.
It clicked.
Without thinking, he grabs his phone off the table, his heart pounds in his chest.
“Guess I’m going to London,” he mutters to himself, the weight of the decision sinking in.
He isn’t sure what he’s hoping to find, doesn't know how to find her in such a big city, he doesn’t even know where to start. But one thing’s clear: He can’t sit here wondering any longer.
He has to see her.

behold! the punch out promotional comics and a few (or more) words I have to say about them!!
this is.. uhh. this is gonna be a long ish post
Tumblr media
I dont know why but i do NOT like how joe looks here. I think it's the teeth... The bread belt is pretty funny tho and the fact that him and the ladies make the french flag and also mac is here so thats fun!
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaa the babies!! The kaiserlings!!! I always love it when people bring up the fact that vk is a teacher and have him interact with his students and stuff, and they seem to like him as a teacher!
Tumblr media
Omg hes so pretty and I love him so so so so much i wanna kiss him all over ohhh and his shy little pose when he talks about his win/loss ratio dont worry babe you'll get there, by the way did I mention I love him? (also this is one of my favorite ones art wise, the colors and expressions and sparkles are so so so fun!!)
Tumblr media
It's it's my adult son who could crush my skull with one hand, my beautiful boy! But yea anyways he looks absolutely adorable here especially in the 1st and 5th panels also how did he get in this ring he doesnt know anything about anything. (oh yea and macs here too and that's always a plus)
Tumblr media
Wifeeeeeeee noooooo don't sit like that too long.., honey your legs... (also i love his angy face at the end an d i wanna kiss him also)
Tumblr media
This might sound dumb but I like this comic more for having Ms. Bear than for having Bear Hugger, we actually got to know her name! I also really like the colors and the FIGHT!! thingy those are really cool
Tumblr media
Okay so I'm gonna talk about something real quick, it feels like ALL of the promotional media for punch out wii mentions gt's gem. Did they think the fight would be to hard if you didn't know about his tell? Why did they keep bringing this up?? Also he's really pretty and I like the way they draw his little clone thing and mac is here too and his confused little face is funny. (also does anyone know what he's saying in the first panel i really wanna know)
Tumblr media
I really like this one but I always thought that the blatant use of his official art is a little jarring lol. But yeah I love how much of an absolute pimp he is here and also how his ass GETS GOT at the end and ALSO how he talks to the audience and references the game itself, that's WILD! Sadly I'll have to dock a few points for a lack of Carmen :'(
Tumblr media
I'm not gonna talk about this one too much because I Do Not like what it does to me. I will say that I am (disrespectfully) looking at his boxy little ass
Tumblr media
Ayyyyyyyy my main man Soda Popinski!! I'm also not gonna talk about this one too much because the ending is. Not for me. It's for someone though! Anyways yeas I really like the portrait on the first panel and also this was a thing with Joe's comic but he also has an unnamed coach so that's neat. Also Popinski is kind of an inconsiderate asshole so that's fun lol
Tumblr media
I love how the first panel has him being all intimidating and scary but every panel after that is just him being harassed. LET HIM LIVE, FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!!! However much he beat the shit out of the guy in the last panel was completely deserved, paparazzi are parasites <3
Tumblr media
HUMMINA HUMMINA, AWOOOOOGA!!!! But in all seriousness the art (NOT MACHO MAN'S ASS >:/) is just wonderful, the colors and shapes and the text bubbles and hears and stuff AAAAHH it is beautiful!! This might unfortunately be my favorite of the comics actually. (also the spotlight and his shy little pose at the end is cute i will admit)
Tumblr media
I friggin love sandman yall, I also love how it shows all the other boxers and stuff. Also what kind of asshole challenges a guy in boxing gloves to rock paper scissors? Sandman was completely justified tbh. Although I will admit I wish they added SOMETHING to his character, but I guess they didn't add much to anyone else either so it's whatever
ALSO I JUST REALIZED THAT DOC ISN'T IN ANY OF THE COMICS AT ALL, LIKE NOT EVEN IN THE BACKGROUND WITH MAC LIKE WHAT THE FUCK????

through the grapevines - Nanami x reader (fluff! 5k) | pt. 1
Tumblr media
Summary:
In an attempt to finally confess to her long-time crush, your friend drags you along to a wine festival, telling you to spend time with her friend Nanami while she tries to shoot her shot. You decide to give Nanami a chance and wonder what the night could bring...
* * * * *
Eric, Eric, Eric. That’s all Josie ever talked about, and you were getting sick of it. You understood what it was like to have a crush, having had a few of them yourself, but she talked about him as if he’d hung the stars for her, while all he did was say hello to her in the hallways at work.
At first you’d just thought it was another delusion her hopeless romantic heart had cooked up, but the more she talked about their interactions, the more you started to think they might not be so hopeless after all. You’d never met Eric, but c’mon, he had given her a whole bouquet of roses and kissed her on the cheek on her birthday. She had many friends in the office, some of them closer than Eric, and no one had done that for her.
Nevertheless, being the nervous wreck that she was, you somehow ended up getting dragged to a wine festival with Josie, Eric, and another friend from their work.
“Nanami Kento,” said Josie as you crossed the street towards the bus stop. “He’s a really sweet guy, I’m sure you’ll love him.”
You flattened out your dress as you took a seat on the bench, raising a quizzical eyebrow at Josie. “You’re trying to set me up with him or something?”
Josie rolled her eyes as she took the seat next to you, giving you a look of mock exasperation. “No, I just- I told you the plan. I need someone to tag along so it wouldn’t seem like a date with me and Eric, y’know, in case he doesn’t like me back. And only inviting you would seem awfully third-wheelish, so that’s why I invited Nanami as well. You guys can, I don’t know, hang out and drink wine while I try to
y’know.” That classic bashful smile appeared on her face, and you had to suppress a groan. God, she was so lovesick. If she weren’t your friend, you would’ve strangled her by now.
“Yeah, yeah, I get it. I’ll hang out with this Nanami guy while you try to seduce Eric, got it,” you said, earning a slap on the shoulder from Josie. “I don’t get why you can’t invite him on a normal date like a normal person, though. We’re not in high school anymore for this double date slash hangout crap.”
“I need to be one hundred percent sure. I could end up marrying him one day, and if I fuck this up, it’s over. I’ll die alone surrounded by nothing but a thousand cats and my romance book collection,” said Josie.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be there when you die too.”
“Haha, very funny.”
The bus took you both to the outskirts of town. The festival was spread around a large vineyard, for obvious reasons, and you had to admit the place looked great for a date. The sun setting over the rows and rows of grape vines definitely added to the romantic aura. You just hoped this Nanami guy wouldn’t get any funny ideas about this whole thing. You were only there to accompany your friend, nothing more.
The two men were already there, waiting by the entrance. You recognised Eric from the pictures Josie had shown you – tall, dark hair, almost like prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, as Josie liked to say. You hadn’t really asked about Nanami, so you hadn’t known what to expect.
The sight before you was a pleasant one, to say the least. He was tall, taller even than Eric. His short blond hair stood out in the sea of black and brown, and despite his sharp features, he emitted a surprisingly soft demeanour. His white button up hugged his body in all the right places, and you internally berated yourself for letting your gaze linger.
“Hey, guys!” said Josie as Eric pulled her into a brief hug, his hand sliding down to the small of her back. God, they were so blind. She introduced you to them, and they both gave you a smile and a nod. Nanami gave you a quick up and down glance before extending his hand to you.
“Nanami Kento, nice to meet you,” he said. The words dripped like honey off his tongue, and you had to tell yourself to shake his hand instead of staring at him like an idiot.
“And you know Eric,” said Josie. Eric raised an eyebrow, his hand still placed on the small of her back. Interesting.
“I’m well known, am I? What embarrassing stories about me have you shared?” he asked, a grin plastered across his face.
“If you’re worried about that karaoke night, my lips are sealed,” you said, earning a chuckle from the group.
“If that karaoke night is the worst you’ve heard, then I think I’m fine,” Eric replied.
You all entered the vineyard, Josie and Eric leading the way while you and Nanami tagged along behind them. You glanced at their hands, wondering if either of them would be brave enough to take the other. You were probably overestimating them, though.
Despite the event being focused on wine, drinking it as well as making it, there were many activities catered to children. Bouncy castles, carousels, fun fair stalls for winning grape shaped plushies. Though you knew it would soon be time for the kids to leave. Hey, maybe Nanami was a bouncy castle guy when he got drunk. That would definitely provide some entertainment.
Before you knew it, Josie ran off with Eric into the vine maze, yelling something over her shoulder at you that you didn’t catch. Nanami stopped in his tracks, sliding his hands into his pockets.
“We’re not following them?” you asked, halting beside him as well. Nanami glanced down at you, giving you a knowing look.
“And ruin their date? No, I’d rather not.”
Your eyebrows shot up. “So he does like her?” you asked. Nanami’s smile widened.
“Like her? He won’t shut up about her. It was about time one of them got the courage to do something about it. I don’t know how long I would’ve been able to last in that office with them.”
“I’m not sure if setting up an outing along with two other friends counts as courage.”
“Still, it’s a step forward. Better than watching them giggle and blush by the coffee machine every day. At least here they can giggle and blush in the sunset while drinking wine.”
“True, the coffee machine probably isn’t the most ideal place to confess your love.”
Nanami hummed, and your gaze followed his fingers as they glided through his hair. Now that you two were alone, you didn’t really know what to do. It wasn’t a date, unlike whatever Josie and Eric had going on, and you weren’t exactly used to hanging out with someone you didn’t know. You weren’t even sure you’d ever meet him again, so

“Is there anything you would like to see here?” he asked. You had a feeling he could tell you were a bit awkward, but the calmness of his tone eased your nerves. You shrugged, fiddling with one of the rings on your fingers. His eyes flicked down to your hands.
“I’m easy, honestly. I like wine, so we can go do some tasting, but if you want to do anything else, we can do whatever,” you said, hoping you weren’t coming off as indifferent.
Nanami smiled. “Wine tasting it is, then.”
The place was a bit crowded, so you tried to stick as close to him as possible without actually touching him. He led you through the vineyard, narrowly avoiding a huddle of kids as they ran past you.
“You have a lovely dress, by the way,” he said, his tone so unchanging that you had almost missed the compliment. You glanced down at your dress — floral with pink undertones — and felt a warmth spreading across your cheeks.
“Thank you. You have a very nice
shirt.” You knew it would sound stupid before it had even come out of your mouth. Sure, his shirt was nice, but it was a simple shirt. The only reason it looked so nice was because
 well, because he looked nice.
If your compliment had amused him, he didn’t show it. He simply hummed. “Thank you. I wasn’t sure if wearing white to a wine festival would be the right choice, but I trust my ability not to spill anything on myself.”
“You never know who might knock into you,” you said.
“Is that a threat?” he asked with a soft chuckle, and your cheeks only reddened.
“Hey, I’m just saying. There’s still a lot of rowdy kids running around.”
“Well, let’s hope they’ll leave soon. It’s not exactly responsible to keep your kids at an alcohol festival late into the night.”
You reached the wine stalls together, where the sellers were promoting their respective wines at the top of their lungs. You took a look around, not really knowing where to start. You reminded yourself not to take it too far. The last thing you needed was for Nanami to have to drag you home.
“Red or white?” he asked, looking around as well.
“I’m more of a red person. You?”
“Sure, we can do red,” he replied. You weren’t sure if he actually liked red or if he’d just said it to avoid conflict, but you didn’t question it any further. You approached one of the red wine stalls, ordering two glasses of something you’d never heard of. Their newest specialty, the lady behind the counter had said.
You were about to pull out your card, but Nanami put a gentle hand on your shoulder, taking out his own wallet. “Let me,” he said.
“No, Nanami, I can pay for my own-“
“It would be rude of me not to.”
You huffed, knowing he wouldn’t give up so easily. “Fine, but I’ll buy you a
I don’t know. A round of that can shooting game over there so you can win a plushie or something.”
Nanami laughed at your insistence, but nodded. “A plushie for a glass of wine, huh? I like that deal.” He paid the lady for the wine and handed you one of the glasses. You brought them together with a gentle clink before taking the first sip. It was surprisingly sweet, with an almost honey-like aftertaste.
“I might have to get a bottle of this on the way home,” you said, licking your lips. Nanami’s gaze followed the movement.
“It’s very nice, isn’t it? Sweet,” he said.
“Yes, sweet. I’m quite picky when it comes to wine, so I like it when I find something that suits my taste buds.”
“Not that I’m a connoisseur or anything, but I have a feeling I’ve had a similar one before, but white instead of red. We can try to see if they have it here.”
You drank your wine bit by bit, as if you had all the time in the world. The silence between you was far from awkward, something you had been afraid of after agreeing to this whole thing.
“So,” said Nanami, “how long have you known Josie?”
You looked away from the bouncy castle to meet his gaze. “We've known each other since high school. Went to different universities, but we stayed in touch and both came back home after getting our degrees. You've worked together for three years, right?”
He nodded. “Yeah, about three years now. I've been at the company two years longer than her, but since we're in the same department, Eric as well, we kind of all bonded together. I feel like a third wheel sometimes, honestly, so I'm glad you came along as well. I don't know what I'd do here alone,” he said, taking another sip. You didn't know if you had imagined it or not, but you could've sworn you'd seen his gaze trail down your dress again.
“Well, I’m glad to end your suffering, then,” you said, and he let out a chuckle. A warm breeze blew through your dress, sending a small shiver down your spine.
You had honestly expected this evening to be painful to endure, what with Josie off somewhere shooting her shot with Eric and you having to spend time with a man you’d never even met. But the more you talked to Nanami, the more you forgot about the reason you were here in the first place. You didn’t want to admit it, but you were actually starting to like him, and you couldn’t shake off the feeling that he didn’t exactly mind you either.
After two glasses of wine you were beginning to loosen up even more, and you could see his shoulders relaxing as well. The sun slowly disappeared below the horizon, and once it was dark enough, the whole vineyard lit up in a sea of stars.
“Look, the kids are gone, I can go get you that grape plushie now,” you said, putting your glass down on a used dish table. You pointed towards one of the fun fair stalls, the one where you had to shoot down the empty cans to win a prize.
Nanami smiled, following you towards the stall. “You’re going to win the plushie for me, are you?” he asked, his eyebrows raised in amusement.
“What, you think I can’t?”
“No, of course not. I don’t doubt your shooting abilities, I just admire your determination to get me a stuffed toy.”
“Well, you bought me not one, but two glasses of wine.”
Nanami hummed. “So you owe me two plushies, then?”
“I can get you all the plushies you want.” You grinned, stepping towards the counter. “Hello, could I try one round, please?”
The man behind the counter gave you a smile and a nod. You paid the fee and took the gun from the man. It wasn’t powerful enough to actually hurt anyone, but it did a good enough job to shoot down a few cans. You raised the gun, ready to show Nanami your nonexistent shooting skills, and watched as the bullet whizzed out, bounced off the wall behind the cans, and fell into the grass.
You met Nanami’s gaze beside you, and you could tell he was trying to suppress a smile. “How many shots do you have?” he asked, taking a step closer to you.
“Two more,” you said with a small huff. It had only been the first shot, you could do better. You lifted the gun again, squinting to measure out your aim better, and you pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the topmost can of the pyramid, but it still wasn’t enough.
“Try lifting your arm a bit,” said Nanami, placing a hand on your elbow. He pushed it up gently, his touch on your bare skin making your heart flutter. He stepped even closer to you, his warm breath tickling your neck. He guided the gun to its correct position. “Take a deep breath and try to stop your arm from shaking.”
Well, that was easier said than done when you had a man like him breathing down your neck and practically whispering into your ear. You didn’t know how much longer you could blame your reactions on the alcohol. You had expected him to pull away once he had set you up, but he stood right behind you, gently supporting your arm. Maybe he thought it would help you stop shaking, but it only seemed to distract you more.
“You got the aim right?” he asked, and you nodded, your heart pounding in your chest. “That plushie isn’t gonna win itself, then.”
His words were enough to kick your brain into action, and you pulled the trigger. You watched as the bullet hit the bottom row, causing the whole pyramid to tumble down. You let out a small squeal of joy and turned to Nanami, his soft smile sending a wave of warmth over you. “You saw that, right?” you asked, grinning.
He crossed his arms over his chest and nodded. “I did see that. I didn’t know you wanted to win that plushie for me so badly.” God, his voice will make me melt, you thought to yourself.
“Of course I do. You deserve it,” you said as the man behind the counter handed you the silly stuffed grape. It even had a face, arms and legs. You passed it to Nanami, who examined it with a fond look on his face.
“Well, thank you. It’ll join the collection of other fruit shaped plushies I have at home,” he said, looking up from it to meet your gaze. You snorted, joining him as you walked away from the stall.
“You have a stuffed fruit collection at home?” you asked.
“No, not yet, at least. You could start one for me, though. I’m sure they have other fruits at other fairs like this, and since you’re so good at shooting, it would be a piece of cake for you,” he said. Although you knew he was only joking, the idea of going to other fairs with him sparked something in you. If he really wanted, you’d win as many plushies as his heart desired.
You felt an arm snake around your shoulders, and you looked over to see Josie and Eric beside you. One look was enough to figure out they’d had their fair share of wine as well, but you couldn’t really decipher whether or not there was something else hidden underneath their content expressions. You’d just have to wait and ask Josie about it later.
Eric clapped Nanami on the back and pulled him away to go to the bathroom with him, which left you and Josie alone. “So?” you asked her. “How’s your date been so far?”
Josie grinned, her grip around your shoulder tightening. “I’ll tell you all the details tomorrow. What I’m more curious about is how your date’s been going.”
You let out a small huff, raising an eyebrow. “I’m not on a date, you know. We just left you alone so you could spend the evening alone together.”
“Okay, fine, it’s not a date. But what do you think so far?”
“About what?”
“Nanami, of course. What do you think about him?” she asked, her voice laced with anticipation. You had to think for a second, not knowing how much you could tell her, especially since you didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of being right.
“He’s nice,” you finally answered, biting back a smile.
“Just nice? C’mon, give me more. You like him, don’t you? That’s why you’re getting all huffy and don’t wanna talk about it.”
You scoffed. “I’m not getting huffy, I just- Yes, fine, I’ve been enjoying myself. More than I expected to. And he’s more than nice. I haven’t talked to a guy as sweet as him in a while.”
Josie shrieked in excitement, shaking you around like a ragdoll. “I knew it! I knew you’d like him. Eric’s gathering info right now as well, so we’ll see.”
You stopped dead in your tracks, fixing her with a look of disbelief. “So you are trying to set me up!” Josie sighed and looked back at you, taking your hand in hers and patting it gently.
“Look, I just felt like you’ve been single for a while now, and- I don’t know, Nanami just feels like the perfect guy for you. You always wanted a man who can cook, so-”
“He can cook?” you blurted out, mentally slapping yourself for sounding so eager. Josie laughed, squeezing your hand.
“See? Just give it a chance instead of pushing it away like you always do. Promise me you’ll give it a chance,” she said, her tone turning a bit more serious.
Ever since that horrendous disaster of a relationship you’d had back in college, you’d always been a bit wary of getting into anything new, always pushing away anyone who came near you. You enjoyed being single, but recently, especially with Josie being so in love with Eric, you couldn’t help but crave that sort of love as well.
“Well
if he can cook, then who am I to refuse?” you said, a small defeated smile creeping upon your face. You knew this whole thing was way more exciting for her than it was for you, but you couldn’t help but find her joy a bit contagious. She flung her arms around you, and your smile widened. You shook your head in mock exasperation. “You’re acting like I agreed to marry him or something.”
Josie pulled away, giving you a sly smile. “Who knows? You’re both young, hot and single. You know what happens when two young, hot and single people get together.”
“We’re not even together yet. Go worry about your own future husband,” you said, rolling your eyes. Speaking of her future husband, you saw Eric and Nanami returning from their bathroom break. Nanami was still holding the grape plushie as if it was the most precious thing in the world. Eric took Josie by the hand and pulled her away before you could even say goodbye. Nanami chuckled, turning his attention back to you.
“I’m assuming you know now?” he asked, making your heart stop for a second.
“Know what?”
“That they confessed. And kissed.”
“Oh
Oh! No, she didn’t say. She told me she’d tell me the details tomorrow,” you said, your eyes wide. Not that it was unexpected news, but you couldn’t believe that hadn’t been the first information to come out of Josie’s mouth.
Nanami chuckled. “Finally, though. Honestly, if they didn’t get together today, I’d lock them up in a room at work and not let them out until they sorted things out.”
You nodded. “Yeah. I wonder why she didn’t tell me, though. Maybe she’s expecting something more to happen, so then she can deliver the whole package. Not that I’m assuming they’d-”
“Please, with all the pent up love they have, I wouldn’t rely on going home with Josie tonight if I were you.”
“Yeah, I guess not.”
You walked around the venue together with no real goal in mind. Your mind kept replaying your previous conversation with Josie. If she was trying to set you up with him, that meant he at least partly wanted something too, right? You couldn’t help but wonder what he might have told Eric. He didn’t seem like the type of person to put up with someone for a whole night just to be polite, so he must like you to some extent, right?
“One last glass of that wine you liked?” he asked as you passed the wine stalls again.
“Okay, but I’m paying this time,” you said, giving him a dramatically stern look so he knew you were serious. He simply chuckled, letting you pass as you walked over to the lady in the stall.
Nanami tucked the plushie under his arm and took the glass from you, taking a sip. For some reason, the wine tasted even better than the first time you had had it. You were about to say something when he suddenly pulled you closer to him by your waist, out of the way of a stumbling drunk couple.
“Oh- Thanks,” you said, your face burning when his hand lingered on our waist for a few moments before he pulled it away.
“No problem,” he said with a small smile. “Wouldn’t want that dress to get ruined.”
You met his gaze, and you could’ve sworn his expression softened even more. His hazel eyes danced across your face, as if studying your features. Having anyone else stare at you like this would normally make you feel uneasy, but with him
you couldn’t bring yourself to care.
Before you knew it, it was already well past midnight. Being so far from the centre of town, you knew you’d have to catch the next bus unless you wanted to wait until sunrise to get home. You pulled out your phone to ask if Josie would come with you, but sure enough, you’d already received a text from her about half an hour ago.
Josie: going home with eric, pls dont be mad Josie: have fun with nanamiiii
The last text, along with the winky face and the kissy emoji made you shove your phone back into your pocket before Nanami could see it. “You were right, Josie’s going home with Eric,” you said. Nanami nodded, not surprised in the slightest.
“I can take you home if you want,” he said, downing the last bit of his wine. Your eyebrows flew up. You knew he was a gentleman, and he’d probably offer to accompany anyone just to make sure they were safe, but something about it seemed more
 personal.
“Are you sure? I don’t wanna be a burden,” you replied. Nanami shook his head.
“Trust me, you’re not a burden. It would be wrong to abandon you at a bus stop, especially at night and when you’re not completely sober.”
Sure, you weren’t sober, but you weren’t so drunk that you wouldn’t be able to get yourself home. But you appreciated his kind gesture, and nodded. “Alright. The bus leaves in 10 minutes, so we better hurry if we don’t wanna miss it.”
The bus ride home was filled with pleasant silence. It felt almost special, with you two being the only ones on the bus, like it was a private ride just for you. He walked you all the way towards your apartment building, stopping as you turned to him in front of your door. The dim wall light illuminated his face. You glanced up at him, not really knowing how to end the night, but thankfully he saved you the trouble of speaking up first.
“I had a lovely time with you tonight,” he said, taking a small step closer to you, the plushie still tucked under his arm. You smiled, your stomach doing a backflip at his sudden proximity.
“Me too. It was very nice to meet you and also help those two idiots to finally get together.”
Nanami chuckled. “Yes, I couldn’t agree more.” He looked down at you, letting a moment of silence pass before speaking again. “I was wondering if I could get your number.”
Your heart nearly burst through your chest. “My number?” you said, your voice oddly high-pitched.
“Yeah. I was also wondering if I could take you out on a date sometime. Like, a real one, not whatever this double date slash hangout thing was.”
You couldn’t believe your ears. Sure, you had the feeling he’d enjoyed himself tonight as much as you had, but the fact he wanted to go on a date with you? An actual, real date? You had to stop yourself from grinning like an idiot.
“Yeah, I’d love to,” you said with a nod. He let out a small exhale, almost from relief, and handed you his phone so that you could put your number in it. You had to tell yourself to calm down as you typed it in, not wanting to seem too thrown off by this whole thing. Once you were done, he put his phone back into his pocket and gave you a smile. You were expecting him to say goodbye and leave, but he took another step closer to you.
“Right, so
I’ll call you and we can set up a time and place?” he asked. You nodded, wondering if your eyes were playing tricks on you, or if he was genuinely glancing down at your lips. The thought only caused you to glance at his lips as well, and your breaths got shallower with every passing second.
He raised his hand tentatively, as if any sudden movement would make you disappear. His fingers brushed against your cheek, and you couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, averting your gaze. He chuckled at your reaction, but it didn’t deter him.
“You’re a mind reader now, are you?” he asked, gently tilting your chin up to force you to look at him.
“Well, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what you want to do,” you replied, meeting his gaze. He chuckled again.
“And what do you say?”
“I say go for it.” You couldn’t believe your own boldness. It was probably just the leftover wine in your system talking. He hummed, his smile softening.
“Go for it? Just like that?”
“Yeah. Go for it.”
He wasted no time, cupping your face in his hands and leaning down to press his lips onto yours. You let out a small gasp, and he smiled against your lips, the feeling only making you melt more. After the initial second of surprise you responded immediately, kissing him back with the same gentleness as he did. You could taste the sweet wine on his mouth, the flavour almost intoxicating.
One of his hands fell from your face to rest on your waist, pulling you closer. His lips moved with yours in a slow, yet heartracing rhythm, and you couldn’t seem to get enough. You placed a hand onto his chest, your fingers digging into the fabric of his shirt. The way he kissed you made your head spin, and you felt like you were going to faint if you didn’t go up for air soon.
He was the first to pull away, letting out a shaky exhale, his eyes scanning over your flushed face. He gave your waist a gentle squeeze before taking a step back, and despite your body screaming at you to pull him back, you knew your time together was over for the night.
“I’ll call you, okay?” he said, slightly breathless. You nodded, and he leaned down to press a gentle kiss onto your forehead before stepping away for the final time. “Goodnight.”
“Make sure the grape gets a good night’s sleep as well,” you called out after him as he walked away from you. His laugh rang through the night, and he turned to look at you with a smile on his face.
“Of course. We wouldn’t want your grape to be tired, now, would we?”

date back on for sunday now. His friend is okay. thank god. And uhhh, yea now we're finally be fr about the "hey we met on a dating, lets be so fr about what our experience has been" uncharted territory besties. we're not at "so what are you looking for?" but i already essentially told him my approach is to just really try getting to know ppl i find interesting and letting a spark develop from there w/o pressure. kinda like in school where you consistently see people in casual settings. and he thought it was a good plan so uh. here we are.
#basically he's had no luck and only like 2 matches (excluding me i believe) and all those people just never responded to him#which must be so funny bc now theres like. me. where i have seen his id. know his govt name. address. dob. and vitals. like. crazy.#and he's seen mine too ofc. equality. and uh. sounds like he's never dated. never had any bug feelings for anyone despite wanting to fall i#love so bad. which is... interesting. i feel like he has liked ppl and not recognized that it's a crush. nit just wanting to be friends but#imma hold off on sharing that until further developments.#i basically told him that I've had a very different experience. not to like brag but like most women will have better luck on apps (also hi#profile kinda sucks. all 4 photos look like a different person. his like actual answers to prompts aren't bad. they're good. thats what mad#me think 'oh i think i could rlly get along w/ this dude' but he'd attract a very niche type of woman)#which i also. didn't fully say. bc time and place. it'll come up but not right now. but yea so i told him that like. ive gotten many matche#but a lotttt of it is super low quality. lot of wasted time. so like. yea. we all have a bad time on dating apps till someone sticks and we#dont. we basically have both admitted to having idealized people in the past and getting the ick irl. and yea. building some good common#ground. ive always wanted to ask to ppl ive gone out w/ what their experience looks like but i feel like thats not smth to talk abt till#later on and I've never wanted anything past a 2nd date before so. yea.#although my first date did tell me but she was poly and like much more open to talking abt that than most monogamous ppl would be

summary: a situation between pogues and kooks at the beach made Rafe rethink his priorities
word count: 1.8k.
warnings: season 4 spoilers, established relationship, mention of the dead turtle, that hoe Ruthie, protective Rafe
a/n: i'm obsessed with season 4, y'all. absolutely in love with everything that's going on and especially with Rafe being in a better place with a girl that he actually likes đŸ„č this scene at the beach with turtles just made me sob, so I really need someone to drag that bitch by her hair. sorry not sorry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your heart was beating with adrenaline from the scene that just happened at the beach, with Topper’s girlfriend almost running over the pogues and being the usual insane bitch that she was. Rafe stood beside you, silent but shaking his buzzed head in disapproval.
Kie was standing on her knees on the sand, in shock, with juice still dripping down her face and hair. She brushed off the help of her friends, instead standing and picking something up from the ground, without hesitation, going towards the group of people around you. They seemed absolutely delighted by the whole situation, laughing, fist bumping each other, and making you want to punch every single one of them in the face.
You didn’t even want to be here in the first place, not with a bunch of people with whom you shared mutual hatred towards each other. Rafe was your only connection with them, and it seemed like even for him it was a bit too much. A fun day at a beach with a little surfing competition, where even Topper and JJ seemed to have some fun together, took the wrong turn way too quickly.
“Look what you did! Is this okay?” Kie stopped in front of Ruthie, reaching out her hand to show something that you weren’t able to see, but by the look on her face it was obviously serious to her. “There was a turtle hatch, you idiots! You drove right over it!” Your stomach twisted at the realization, and you took a step closer to see it yourself.
“Oh my God.” You whispered, catching a glimpse of a tiny dead turtle with a crushed shell laying in the palm of her hand. So little and harmless that the picture of it brought tears to your eyes.
“Don’t look, baby.” Rafe’s deep voice mumbled near your ear, with a warm hand sprawled across your back to try to distract you, but you shook your head, unable to take your eyes off it.
“All right, but it was only one.” Ruthie said with her usual attitude, nonchalantly pointing to the rest of the turtles that, luckily, were perfectly fine. Your mouth opened in disbelief, and you looked at Rafe to see him uncomfortably rubbing the back of his head.
“I’m so sorry, Kie
” You whispered to her, stepping further away from the kooks, eyes drifting again to the dead animal in her hand. No matter how hard you tried to fit in with Rafe and his friends, you could never be one of them if it meant to be a bunch of pompous and cruel rich kids. You thought that, maybe it was time for you to finally admit that.
“It’s not your fault, Y/N.” She briefly looked at you, because despite not being friends, there never were any arguments between you and the rest of the pogues, always keeping cool and friendly with each other. “There’s something wrong with you, people.” Kiara looked back at the kooks with disgust written all over her face.
“I’m leaving, Rafe.” Barely holding back your tears, you looked back at your boyfriend, before picking up your beach bag from the sand and turning around. “I’m sorry again for them, Kie.”
“No, wait, Y/N.” He pushed through the crowd, wide-eyed, quickly approaching you and grasping your wrist. “This is not—“
“I don’t want to be here. I didn’t sign up to hang out with your friends when I started dating you, okay?” You groaned in frustration, attempting to move, but Rafe stopped you. “I don’t even know why we’re here, why you are here, when you clearly don’t enjoy it anymore.”
“Listen, this is not so easy, okay?” He rolled his eyes, but you knew it was not fully directed at you; Rafe was already struggling with trusting those around him, and the fact that you slowly but steadily made him reconsider his current surroundings did not help.
“You are not like them, they are not your friends, don’t you understand it?” The pure desperation was speaking in you, searching for the answers in his eyes. You overheard some people laughing at you, as they were too confident that Rafe would never listen to someone like you, someone from the cut, not even realizing the war that was currently going on in his head.
He was silent, thinking, making his already overwhelmed mind go hundred miles per hour to figure something out, because you were right. The more time had passed, the more the two of you were together, the less Rafe found himself enjoying the presence of his old friends, the less he wanted to do that childish bullshit.
“This dumb fucking bitch almost ran over people and killed an innocent animal because her big ego got hurt, do you understand?! So I’m leaving. Alone or with you.” You almost whispered the last part to him, too scared that he'd not choose you. At the end of the day, you were a pogue, and no matter how much you tried, you would never be good enough for Rafe.
“What did you just call me?” Ruthie arched a brow, now shooting daggers at you.
“I called you a dumb fucking bitch, didn’t you hear me?” You spat, finally having a good enough reason to tell the truth right in her face. “Or are you too stupid to get that through your thick scull?”
“That’s rich, coming for a pogue. It’s just a cycle of life. And if you, losers, are so offended by that, it’s not my problem.”
“A cycle of life? Getting flattened by a truck is not a cycle of life.” Kiara pushed Ruthie with her hand, and it nearly turned into a fight, with JJ standing by his girlfriend's side. You turned away from them, too frustrated and drained to bother listening to the rest of the conversation, your gaze shifting to Rafe, who still held your hand.
“I want to leave. Stay here if you want to, I don’t care. I’m done with them, Rafe.” Your teary eyes met his blue ones, and he shook his head, pulling you closer with your forearms. The mere thought of you leaving him, angry and upset, triggered a whirlwind of panic within him.
“Hey, no, I’m not staying, okay?” Rafe's hands, now much gentler and delicate, touched your cheeks, wiping away a few tears that you could not keep back. Rafe had never been too comfortable with the display of emotions, and he was pretty sure that it was the first time he had actually seen you cry. And he knew how much you had always carried for animals, how you petted every stray cat or a dog on the street, and how you hated any form of violence against them.
The pulsating and aching feeling in his chest at the sight of your tears made him want to drop everything, or rather, eliminate everyone who had upset you, and just hold you in his arms.
“Aw, look at you.” You heard that annoying voice behind you back again, pulling you out of the bubble in which you fell, and turning around, you saw that Kie and JJ were no longer there. Your eyes instantly rolled back as Ruthie looked at you with her usual fake sympathy, crossing her arms over her chest. “Go back to your side of the island, you’re not one of us. Don’t even know why Rafe bothers to bring you here when you’re just another dirty toy to—“
Rafe left your side before she could finish her sentence, looming over her with the most furious expression you had ever seen on his face. Everyone and everything seemed to fall silent for a moment, and you held your breath, unsure what he would do. “Wanna say some bullshit about her? Try to do it right in my face and see what happens.”
“You’re not seriously protecting the pogue. She’s not on our side.” Her smile faded, her eyes now nervously looking between Rafe and Topper, who was standing behind her back.
“C’mon, Rafe
” He started, but quickly shut his mouth as soon as Rafe turned his head towards him with a silent threat. You felt your heartbeat quickening as the atmosphere started to get even more intense. Everyone around you also started arguing and saying God knows what, but Rafe was awfully calm, and it frightened you even more.
You moved closer to them as you made your way through the warm sand, until you were able to place a comforting hand on your boyfriend's back. He was so tense under your touch that it amazed you how the hell he was not shaking because of it. The only times you had ever seen him behaving that way was when people whispered something about his father behind his back.
“It’s okay, Ray.” You whispered, kissing his shoulder and sliding your hand down his back to take a hold of his bicep.
“You’re lucky that I don’t hit women. But if I hear a single word about my girlfriend again, you will regret it, I promise you." Your stomach flattered from the way he protected you, from the way his friends opened their mouths in shock at his words. Even Topper and Kelce were too stunned to speak, sending each other weird glances. “Control, your crazy bitch, Top.”
As if nothing had happened, Rafe stepped back, throwing a protective hand over your shoulders and guiding you away from the group. He was silent for a whole walk towards his truck, only stopping near the passenger door and turning you to face him.
His worried blue eyes were almost shining under the bright and hot sun and you saw words forming in his head and sitting at the tip of his tongue. You waited another minute, while Rafe was focused on your necklace, thinking. His hands found a place on your waist, rubbing circles into your skin, until he finally took a deep breath and looked up.
“You’re right.” He said simply. “I’m not this person anymore. That shit with racing with pogues was fun and all, but I didn’t like what happened today.” You half smiled, nodding and encouraging him to talk. “If—if I want to be like my dad, I need to have my priorities straight. No more of this bullshit, no more fake ass people, yeah? You’re the only one who's been here for me for a long fucking time. You’re the only one who I can trust, baby.”
His hand cupped your cheek, eyes focused solemnly on you, before he lowered himself closer to you to place a kiss on your lips.
“This is the right decision. You’ve overgrown them, you’re a better man now. And i’ll be here for you whenever you need me, I promise. I guess it’s just us now." Your body sagged against his, too wrapped in the comfort of his presence to even care about anything else. Your lips brushed against his, making Rafe groan.
“Just us, baby.”

ᯓᥣ𐭩 obsessed!gojo x f!reader
cw and notes: sorry if this is short and weird im sick writing this lol, posessiveness, size kink, stalking, toxic behavior, implied on and off relationship, reader is a bit naive, crazy ooc kinda gojo, religous imagery AGAIN bc i love using angels for satoru and devils for sugu, no curse au just regular ol citizens, not proof read
obsessed!gojo who'd never admit how much you affected him. the way your eyes peaked out from under your lashes when you glanced up to meet his, the way you'd get so excited when he bought you something no matter what it was, the way you held his large hand in your small one. he'd scoff, hiding his face from you so you wouldn't see how his breath was caught in his throat or how his cheeks were lightly dusted pink.
he recently bought you a small necklace with an s on it, standing for satoru. you swept any hair that was in the way to the side as he gently clipped it on. turning around, you giggle and wrap your arms around his neck, thanking him.
"i know you the best, don't i?" he chuckled, his hand traveling up to your head to dip it into his shirt, turning away so you wouldn't see his face.
"what's wrong, toru?", you curiously lifted your head, tilting it to catch his face.
"sorry, got allergies, darlin". what a liar.
obsessed!gojo who knew you for years, although he was your senior in high school, he noticed you the moment you passed by in the hallway. the way you were laughing with your classmate, not even glancing at him. it was like the stars had perfectly aligned for him to meet you. your white haired savior. he couldn't say anything, the conversation he was having with geto drifting into a void as he kept his eyes glued to your figure walking away.
he had to have you. whether it was in that moment or in 10 years. he did his best to get your attention, gather information about you from shoko and some of the mutual friends you shared with him. finally, finally, in college he had you.
there were definitely guys that he had to get rid of on the way there, but it was all worth it! he'd never kill anyone, never, but he'd drive them out of town, dig up any information about the guy or his family, just to have you alone.
obsessed!gojo who tweaks out the moment he hears someone has a crush on you at your workplace, your 'friend'. you had mentioned it in passing when talking about your day and he nearly snapped on the spot. gojo no longer liked being associated with his family, no, but the thing he never dropped from them was his inheritance. he was wise with his money, investing it and using a private bank, but fuck did he love spending money on anything related to you.
he hired an investigator on the guy, draining every bit of information that he had. the moment they found out he was involved in an illegal supply chain of money, gojo nearly laughed. i mean, it only took a week and he didn't have to lift a finger. he delivers a nice lunch to you on your break, along with flowers and he hates to admit it, but he nearly cums in his pants from your voice message.
"thank you, toru! how'd you know i forgot to pack lunch this morning? you spoil me too much, i'm gonna eat now, thanks again, i love you!" your voice echoed in his living room as he played the message over and over again, the hand holding his phone shaking from your praise. he loved the way your voice drew out the syllables of his name, the way you thanked him.
when you came to visit him that night after work, you told about how the coworker got fired, how someone busted him for illegal activities. toru hummed and shrugged as he opened one of his arms, motioning for you to sit on his lap. who gave a shit about him, you were here, safe with him, that's what matters.
obsessed!gojo whos on his couch, manspreading as you sat so prettily on his lap. he's huge, his arms resting on the couch as he leans back, watching you yap on about how your day was. his hand comes down to your head as you talk about all the snacks you bought with your friends today, petting your hair with the back on his hand before twirling it around his long finger.
it's an odd gesture, but one you got used to. he'd pet you often, as if you were a little bunny, he laughed when you sniffled, pointing out how your nose subtly scrunched up. in bed when you two cuddled, he'd have you laying on his chest as he ran his fingers against your scalps, following the gaps in where you hair parted.
but yet, he'd never admit out loud how much he was in love with you.
obsessed!gojo who you rekindle with over and over again after every big fight somehow. you don't know if it's intentional, but he reels you in with his eyes. he's like an angel, the blue reflecting stars as they draw you in. his hair is soft, like whisps of silk and dandelions. whenever you cuddle with him, he has a distinct scent, not cologne, but like wind in a field of flowers. how a man has that scent, shit you'll never know.
he has you in his arms while he's apologizing over and over again, littering kisses on your forehead as he caresses-no, pets-the back of your head. he treats you like his property, his to spoil, his to always come home to, always his.

Throw away the caution! | LN4
word count: roughly 2k
warnings: overprotective brother Max Fewtrell, mutual pinning (a bit), Oscar is confused most of the time, bad writing (yes it requires a warning)
summary: Lando (annoyingly) has a crush on non other than his best friends younger sister, Y/n Fewtrell. It was his well kept secret. Why? Because he knows how overprotective Max is of you. What happens when Carlos and Oscar find out about it? Will a drunken night out celebrating a race weekend change their relationship?
a/n: Originally this was supposed to be a one shot but I’m turning this into a mini series. They’re probably going to be three parts. Please note that english is not my first language, I’m sorry for any mistakes in advance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lando and Max have been through a lot together as long as both of them can remember. And for just as long Lando has known y/n, Max slightly younger sister. What started as a harmless friendship slowly turned into something more, at least in Landos eyes.
It wasn’t until he was a teenager that he admitted his feelings to himself. He kept them hidden and a secret from everyone. At first he thought that they’re just temporary. The girl he used to climb trees with and joke around for hours grew into a beautiful young lady after all. But the feelings only grew stronger.
Lando was well into his twenties when he talked to someone about his crush, it was no other than his friend and ex teammate, Carlos Sainz. At first he tried to talk Lando into admitting his feelings to you but that was without success. Carlos tried to figure out if the feelings are both sided but he simply didn’t see the Fewtrell siblings enough for that.
He was the silent emotional support through everything after that, trying to get them together alone as much as possible without Max noticing. After all, Carlos didn't know how he would react to the news of his childhood friend loving his younger sister. There were a few close calls in the past but as far as anyone was concerned neither Max nor y/n knew about Landos feelings.
If anyone would ask him why he doesn’t confess his answer would probably be along the lines of wanting to concentrate on his career first. In truth he was scared of your rejection and your brother's disappointment. He and Max are friends after all and it might feel like some sort of betrayal to the older Brit.
Lando was currently in London since he had to be back at the MTC for his pre-season training and meetings. He loved being in his home country even if that meant that winter break was over. It means that he gets to spend time with his friends. Like this evening for example.
· · ─────── ·𖄞· ─────── · ·
You hate being late. It wasn't even your fault that a meeting with your boss ran over the scheduled time or that traffic today was worse than the past few days. You were meeting up with your brother, childhood friend and his teammate. And while Max assured you that your late arrival wouldn’t be a problem, anxiety and guilt still washed over you. You navigate your car without a problem down the familiar street to your brother's appartement. The night was cold but with a clear sky, a rare occurrence.
“You know you don’t have to get me anything when you come around.” Max greets you at the door as soon as he sees the flowers clutched in your hand. “Yeah yeah” you wave him off. The apartment was quiet, too quiet for the normal chaos that erupts when Lando and Max are together.
Max notices your confusion. “They got caught up with work stuff too. That’s why I told you not to worry.” He grabs the flowers ready to put them into an improvised vase while adding, “they should be here any minute though.”
“You could’ve added that little detail in your sentence,” you sternly joke with him. He pulls you into his arms mumbling something about next time he will. You missed this, the familiar feeling of being in your brother's arms. Work has been hell for you recently and you didn't get to spend much time with your family or friends. That’s why you didn't think twice about coming around tonight to spend a relaxing evening with your brother and an old friend of yours, Lando.
Before you could do anything else the doorbell rang, announcing the arrival of the McLaren drivers. “I’ve got it,” you said to Max before walking towards the door. When you opened it, you were a bit surprised when you saw only Oscar standing there. “Hey Oscar. Where is Lando?” you ask him after you let him into the flat. “Oh, he’s still parking the car or something,” Oscar said, “he’ll be here shortly.” You nodded your head at his explanation, softly closing the door behind him. You didn’t lock it though so Lando could get in easier.
Max came out of the kitchen to greet Oscar. While the two aren’t that close they still get along well, spending their evenings occasionally in bigger groups together. The Aussi was quickly accepted into the little group of you three after he joined Lando as his new teammate two years ago. You went back into the kitchen grabbing drinks for everyone while the boys already chatted about racing. The table was set, the ordered food waiting on the counter. There is only one thing missing now.
You still had a slightly anxious feeling that you couldn't shake off. Maybe it was because you would spend the evening in such close proximity to Lando. You haven’t said it to anyone out loud but you knew what the butterflies in your stomach meant. While you didn’t want to admit it to yourself just yet, you couldn’t hide it anymore. You were crushing hard and of course that person has to be your brother’s best friend.
“Hey mate”, Landos voice rans out through the apartment. He came into the kitchen with a wide smile, dimples showing on full display. He quickly pulled each of you into his arms as a greeting. His arms lingered around you for a bit longer, both of you silently enjoying the feeling. “Come on guys, the food is still warm.” Max called out while putting the boxes in the middle of the table. His voice was a bit rougher than usual, almost like he was hiding his emotions. You didn't notice it nor did Lando. Oscar however did notice it and for a millisecond a confused look crossed his face. It was gone before anyone could really notice it.
The four of you sat down at the table, a comfortable silence washing over the room. You sit next to your brother across from Lando. You noticed him looking at you a few times out of the corner of your eye. The butterflies in your stomach were running wild, but you hoped that it didn’t show. As much as you like the idea of being together with the Brit, you knew that it wouldn’t be a good idea. Not only because of his career but also because of your brother. You and Max were close and you know his overprotective sides when it comes to the topic of boys being around you. He was always a bit worried about them, maybe given the fact that he raced professionally. It didn't help that you know most of the formula one grid. He was scared of someone using you for your connections, he would not mention this fear though.
You aren't sure how Max would react to the news of you crushing on his best friend nor did you want to find out anytime soon. You talked about everything over dinner; racing, the upcoming season, video games and just what everybody did during the break. You remembered about a year ago when you were all sitting at the same table. Oscar was still new to the group and quite shy, but he opened up which was good to see.
“All right, how about we talk about something different than just racing,” you said. “Not everybody’s life depends on it.” You jokingly added, knowing that the boys love nothing more than to talk about it, especially when they were off for a few weeks. At some point the conversation shifts, now the talk was all about. testing and the upcoming season. “I have a question guys,” Lando suddenly said. His cheeks are a bit pink, unusually so. Your eyes looked over to Oscar slightly, he looked just as confused as you felt. It almost seems like Lando was shy about something perhaps not knowing what to do with the situation. “Do you have anything planned during the weekend when the season starts?” He finally blurted out after a longer pause.
“Not that I could think of,” you replied, looking at your brother. He also shook his head no. “Why do you ask?” “How about you come to watch it?” It was actually Oscar who voiced the question, his eyes always flickering up to you. It was almost like he was saving Lando from something, maybe embarrassment. “For sure,” Max answered quickly, not having to really think about it. The three men turn their heads to you waiting for your answer. “I’m not sure if I can get time off,” you said. “And also don’t exactly have the money for this trip.” You said shyly.
“Sweetheart, do you really think you have to pay?” Lando asked. You look at him shocked, did he really just say that? “I got it covered. Don’t worry about that.” He added quickly. Maybe it was your imagination, but he looked a bit embarrassed about saying it. Max looked at his best friend, confusion all over his features, shaking his head as if he was having a silent conversation with himself.
“Please y/n, it would mean the world for both of us,” Lando added, pointing at him and Oscar. He was almost begging at this point. You didn’t know why it was so important for him to have you there. A small part if you wanted to believe that it is because he also had a crush on you. But honestly those were unrealistic expectations. No, Lando could never have a crush on you. That’s for sure.
“Okay okay,” you gave in with a small smile. “I’ll see if I can get a few days off so I can join you in Australia,”you said. You see from the corner of your eyes that your brother has a sour look on his face again. An uneasy feeling settles in your stomach. ”Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m done.“ You try to ignore the look on Maxs face by changing the topic. You took both plates and put them into the dishwasher. You miss the way Oscar looks at both Max and Lando. Ever since this conversation started he has had a slightly confused look on his face, not that you noticed.
It was only a few days after that night when your request for the time off was accepted. That night you spend an hour or maybe two on FaceTime with Lando. He was back in Monaco preparing for the testing in Bahrain. It may have been a few days since that call but you can still see the way he smiled when you shared the news. It was one of the best things ever.
You already talked with Max about when you were leaving to Down Under. While you were more than excited to be in the paddock, see the race and talk to some of the drivers that you know, you couldn’t shake off this weird feeling in the pit of your stomach. It felt like this little trip would change everything but you weren’t sure why. Maybe it was because recently you and Lando have talked almost every night, intensifying your crush on the curly haired man. And even though you were nervous you couldn’t wait to see him in person again in Australia.

You and Carter didn’t fight, it just didn’t happen.
Like any sisters, you got on each other’s nerves, you disagreed on things, you borrowed each other’s clothes without asking - but you didn’t fight.
Growing up, your parents fought all the time. You and Carter would sit in her bedroom and listen to music, talking and laughing and pretending not to hear. Ever since then, you had a silent agreement; you didn’t fight and you never raised your voices at each other.
The problem with this system was that you were never quite sure when she was upset with you. Your stomach churned the whole rest of your shower, as she stood uncharacteristically quiet at the bathroom sink and did her makeup.
Maybe she hadn’t heard you, or maybe she had just hated your words so much that she couldn’t even respond to them. You knew she wouldn’t like it when you admitted that you’d be with Rafe if he asked you, but pretending it had never been said seemed particularly childish.
A little while later, you sat on a stool in front of the bathroom mirror as she did your hair and makeup. You found your eyes continually drifting up to her, searching for any sign of anger. When a full half-an-hour passed and she still hadn’t responded to your comments about Rafe, you broke down and asked, “are you mad at me?”
“For what?” She scrunched her eyebrows.
“For what I said in the shower,” you wrung your hands in your lap, not sure you wanted the answer.
“Bitch, you know I have the short term memory of an ant, you’re gonna have to give me more to work with.”
You laughed at her bluntness, the lightheartedness of her words relaxing you enough to face your fear.
“What I said about Rafe,” you said. “That I’d be with him if he asked me to.”
She paused her work on your hair, setting the brush down and meeting your eyes in the mirror.
“When did you say that?” She twisted her lips.
“When you came back in, while I was in the shower.”
She shook her head, “must’ve been talking to someone else because I’ve definitely never heard you say that. I feel like I would’ve remembered something so insane.”
You looked down at your hands in your lap, playing the whole thing back in your mind. You had definitely heard someone come in, the door squeaking at their arrival. That means someone else in the house was walking around with your deepest secret. And now Carter knew it too.
“Oh,” you said. “Never mind then.”
“Yeah right, you really think I’m just gonna move on from that?” Carter put her hands on her hips.
“We could just pretend I never said anything,” you shrugged.
“Yes you know me,” Carter rolled her eyes, “I’m famous for letting things go and being super chill when I hear someone say something batshit crazy.”
You sighed, “okay fine, but what you didn’t hear was me following the statement up by saying I know I shouldn’t be with him ‘cause I’d probably hate myself the whole time.”
Carter started working on your hair again, her contorted face betraying her attempt to act casual.
“Please just say whatever you’re thinking,” you urged her.
“I don’t want to tell you what to do,” she replied.
You snorted, “since when?”
“I just, like, ugh,” she dropped her head back in frustration. “Why him? Like I’ve never understood. What is it about him?”
“I don’t know,” you said honestly. “I’ve never really known. He’s just
”
“Arrogant, selfish, a bully
” she finished your sentence for you.
“Stop,” you laughed, shaking your head.
“Just be careful, okay?” She placed her hands on your shoulders, meeting your eye in the mirror. “I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”
“I know,” you nodded. “I will be.”
“If Rafe Cameron has zero haters then I am dead,” she concluded.
“I know that too,” you smiled.
Carter leaned past you to collect a couple bobby pins from the bathroom sink, her shirt slipping slightly off her shoulder and revealing a patch of deep purple marks.
“Oh my god,” you squealed. “Are those hickies?!”
She dragged her shirt back over her shoulder defensively.
“No! I fell!”
“Uh-huh, right onto Topper’s mouth apparently!” You poked her side, teasing her.
“Shut up,” she smiled and you cackled.
After that, the Rafe conversation was dropped as you pressed Carter for more details on her hook up with Topper. She tried to play cool, but you could tell there was something more going on under the surface that she didn’t want to say. You decided to be patient, if she was going to finally come to terms with her feelings for him, she was going to do it all on her own.
When she was finally done with your hair and makeup, you inspected yourself in the mirror.
“Baddie,” she winked at you.
You blushed, “alright let’s go, the boys are probably waiting.”
Carter stood back and crossed her arms, giving you an incredulous look.
“What?” You questioned.
“You’re not wearing that.”
You looked down at your outfit, a crop top, black jeans, and boots. You thought it was a perfectly acceptable clubbing outfit, but Carter clearly disagreed.
“Why not?”
“We’re going out to, like, clubs. In downtown Miami. You gotta stunt on ‘em a little bit,” she argued.
“I am! Look how tight these jeans are,” you did a spin to display your point.
“Good thing I brought the perfect dress in your size for just such an occasion,” she ignored you.
“Oh okay so this was a premeditated makeover?” You smiled.
She ran down the hall to her room and returned with a lacy, red minidress. Knowing you’d lose any argument you posed, you changed into it reluctantly. The corset top hugged your waist, pushing your chest up. Your shoulders slumped instinctually, like you could hide away in yourself. You’d come a long way on your self-love journey, but your self-doubt still crept in from time to time.
As per usual, Carter sensed it right away.
“Shoulders back, head up,” Carter reminded you. “Let ‘em know.”
You took a deep breath, nodding in the mirror, choosing to leave your insecurities behind. You’d borrow her faith in you for just one night.
As Carter, Maddie and Sabrina did their final touch ups and compared outfits, you pulled on your heels and headed downstairs. The other girls didn’t seem concerned with punctuality, but you were sure Topper was probably freaking out about how long they were taking.
It wasn’t Topper you found in the kitchen, though.
Rafe stood at the sink with his back to you, his black button up pulled taught over his defined back muscles as he stared off into space and the cup in his hand overflowed.
You smiled, holding your shoulders back as Carter had taught you, bracing for him to see you in this dress.
“Thirsty?”
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
He felt his resolve break with the rest of his brain, dizzy and drowning in the sight of you. He had the ridiculous urge to shield his eyes, like he was hiding them from the sun, your beauty too overwhelming to gaze directly at.
He set the glass down on the counter, drying his hands with a nearby towel, never once breaking eye contact with you.
Licking his lips quickly, he shamelessly let his eyes drag over your bare legs and up your body, knowing full well you could see him take in every inch of you. He didn’t care, he needed you to understand what you were doing to him.
When his eyes finally landed on yours, he clenched his jaw tight, nostrils flaring with his rising pulse. He tilted his head to the side, narrowing his eyes, telling you silently: you’re killing me.
“You like it?” You whispered, running your hands over the lacy fabric.
Rafe opened his mouth to answer, planning something along the lines of “do I like it? Are you fucking kidding me?” but before he could, the rest of the girls came clamorring down the stairs behind you, stealing the moment.
At the sound of clicking heels and giggles, the rest of the boys came filing into the room.
Rafe gave you one more longing look before handing Kelce the glass of water. Kelce tried to protest, but Rafe shoved it in his hands anyway.
“We’re not leaving ‘til you drink it,” Rafe scolded him.
“Taking over Topper’s mom duties?” Maddie laughed at the exchange.
“No, Rafe’s much more dad vibes,” Carter countered.
“Yes and mom and dad will be pissed if our Ubers leave, so let’s go children,” Topper herded the group toward the front door.
Rafe took the now empty glass from Kelce and left it in the sink, and you lingered back for a second, pretending to fix your shoe so you’d both end up at the back of the pack. He watched as you bent down and fiddled with the slingback, hovering close when you stood.
“Nice dress,” he mumbled down to you.
“You think so?” You twisted your lips to keep from beaming at him, trying to maintain some semblance of nonchalance.
“There’s not much of it,” he teased, scratching the back of his head as he looked down over the lacy fabric. “But yeah, it’s nice.”
“You gonna give me the ‘you’re not leaving the house in that, young lady’ treatment?” You pressed him. “You really are like the dad.”
“Why? Would you change if I told you to?” He asked skeptically.
“Not a fucking chance,” you scoffed, swinging your hips as you spun and made for the front door.
He was really planning on staying away from you? What a fucking joke. He followed you out of the house like you had him on a leash. He was in for a long night.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
It took all of five minutes for Carter to grab Topper’s hand and pull him to the corner of the club, and it took even less time for their close talking to become a full on makeout.
You smirked at them as you ordered another drink, knowing you’d need something to help you get through this evening if Carter wasn’t going to be by your side. You could feel Tom’s eyes on you as he approached from the other side of the bar.
The whole Uber here, Tom had been eyeing you in the rear view mirror from the front seat. The only stare that made you more uncomfortable was Sabrina’s. It couldn’t be more clear that she’d grown attached to him on their jet ski ride, laughing loud at his unfunny jokes and hovering in his vicinity all night. You had unwittingly fallen into a love triangle you wanted nothing to do with.
You could feel his attempt to hit on you before he even spoke.
“Put her drink on my tab,” Tom told the bartender.
“Oh, you don’t need to do that,” you said, not wanting to give him any openings.
“Not a problem,” he said. “I know I’ve been kind of a jerk today, the least I can do is buy you a drink to say sorry.”
The bartender handed you the glass, and you immediately took a sip, fiddling with the straw uncomfortably.
“Sorry for what?” You feigned ignorance.
“Last night, I didn’t mean to make you feel weird,” he said, stepping closer to you. He clearly couldn’t see the irony that he was apologizing for making you feel weird while actively making you feel weird. “I just think you’re really cool and I wanted to get to know you better.”
He was crowding your space now, the scent of his heavy cologne choking your senses. Just a few days ago, you found the same smell enticing, but now, there was only one person you wanted standing this close.
Your eyes flicked over Tom’s shoulder, scanning the crowd for him. You found him leaning against the wall, Kelce talking to him emphatically about something you couldn’t hear. You didn’t have to get his attention, his eyes were already on you. Tight lipped smile, you flicked your eyes between him and Tom, trying to communicate your need for his assistance.
Rafe didn’t need anything more to understand what you were asking, tuned in to your every move and sensing your need for him before you even caught his eye. He pushed off the wall and left Kelce talking to no one so he could shove his way through the crowd. Taller than almost everyone, you tracked him the whole way through the sea of people. Tom seemed none the wiser, continuing hitting on you.
“Maybe we could get out of here,” Tom suggested, leaning in a little too close so you could hear him over the music.
“Nah, not tonight bro.”
Rafe appeared by your side just in time, forcing Tom to take a step back as he draped his arm over your shoulders possessively. Tom’s eyes flew between the two of you as you reached up to the hand on your shoulder and threaded your fingers with Rafe’s. Relief swelled through your body as Tom stepped back. You leaned into Rafe’s hold more, wrapping your arm around his waist and giving him a grateful squeeze. You knew he felt it when you saw his mouth perk up at the corners. But he didn’t take his eyes off Tom, his work here unfinished.
“Since when are you two together?” Tom puzzled defensively.
“Look man, why don’t you go find, uh, Sabrina,” Rafe waved him off. “Or literally any other girl here.”
As if Rafe’s suggestion had summoned her, Sabrina appeared at Tom’s side.
“Oh my god,” she slurred, eyes red and glossy with intoxication. “Are y’all a thing now? Girl, I never thought you’d actually do it. Good for you!”
It had the cadence of women supporting women, but the undertone was clear. You didn’t miss the disbelief in her tone, subtly trying to cut you down while appearing to lift you up. If Carter was here, she’d bitch her out. But you didn’t need saving from this one.
You tightened your hold on Rafe’s hand, swinging his arm from around your shoulders but not letting go. You pulled him away from Tom and Sabrina, leading him deep into the crowd on the dancefloor.
Before he had the chance to ask what you were doing, you placed his hands on your waist, spinning in his grasp until your back was flush with his chest and moving to the music. He made no protest, squeezing you between his hands and swaying along with you. Tom and Sabrina watched from across the room, his jaw clenched and her arms crossed.
After a few minutes, both sets of eyes eventually left you, but you didn’t notice, and you didn’t stop. It wasn’t for show anymore. You closed your eyes as you continued to let the music move you. Rafe’s strong arms on either side of you, your brain flashed images of his half naked body in the kitchen and how he kneeled in front of you in the basement. The same fingertips that had so gently caressed your calf were now burrowing into the soft flesh of your hips. One of your arms stretched up, your palm finding the back of his neck, kneading his skin as you clung to him.
When you looked up to meet his eyes, they were ablaze with pure lust. Your lips parted to tell him you felt it too, but you couldn’t bring yourself to say it. Instead you showed him, your body moving through the music like water. The bass pumped through your chest, tangling with your thumping heart beat until you couldn’t tell which was which.
Rafe held you tight against him, like if he let you go you might slip under the waves again. His head sank low, until the tip of his nose was grazing just over the curve of your neck. He was hardly moving, not so much dancing as swaying, letting you do the work his eyes drank in every inch of your body.
With a precise roll of your hips, you pushed against him, and you nearly gasped at the feeling of something hard and demanding pressing into your hip. Your lips twisted with the sweetest satisfaction.
“Thought you were trying to be a gentleman,” you said over the music.
“I was,” he brought his lips to your ear so you could hear him. “But you’re making it too fucking hard.”
Smirking, you twisted in his arms until you were facing each other. You both caught the accidental euphemism and met eyes, breaking into matching laughter.
“You know what I mean,” he rolled his eyes.
“I don’t think I do,” you teased with a quirked eyebrow. “Enlighten me.”
His smile fell, as did his hands, lowering from your waist to your hips. You reached both arms up, wrapping around his neck and lacing your fingers behind him.
His eyes swept over your face as he whispered, “you look so-”
“Cute?”
You meant it in jest, but he didn’t laugh. His eyes darkened and his jaw clenched as he took you in, serious as hell when he said,
“So fucking beautiful.”
You shuddered in his arms, and he ran his hand down your exposed back, tracing his fingers delicately over your spine.
“Been driving me crazy since I saw you on the beach,” he continued.
His hand kept falling lower, though it slowed as it reached your lower back, asking for permission with his hesitancy. Your body arched into him without even thinking about it. His palm glided over your ass, the soft fabric of your dress and your plush flesh beneath it pulling an involuntary groan from him. He went lower still, slotting his fingers in the crease where your ass meets your thigh, lingering, setting up camp like he’d stay there all night if you let him. He found the spot so deliberately that you knew he’d been thinking about it for days.
You waited with baited breath, your silence inviting him to keep talking.
All he said next was your name. It was low and needy, like a request, or maybe a warning. Flames erupted in your stomach and sent a hot blush sweeping across your body.
“Do you
” your throat tightened with vulnerability, “do you want to go somewhere?”
Yes, Rafe thought, anywhere, for any amount of time.
But there was a small voice in the back of his head giving him pause. Your voice, earlier today in the shower, when you thought you were talking to someone else.
“I don’t want you to hate yourself,” he shook his head, sad eyes falling from your face to his shoes.
You tilted your head as you examined him, unsure for a moment what he meant. Then it clicked, realizing those were your words on his lips. He was the one who heard you in the bathroom. You fought the temptation to run away in embarrassment when you remembered what else he must’ve heard.
After all you’d admitted to, the piece he was clearly holding onto was the only part you didn’t actually mean. You had added the detail about hating yourself when you thought you were talking to Carter and that she was upset with you.
It was too much to explain to him there on the crowded dance floor. You slipped your hand into his and pulled him from the crowd, out a side door and into the alleyway.
Once outside, you tucked your hair behind your ears and looked down anxiously at your feet. The loss of the music and the sobering night air weakened the boldness you had mustered inside.
“When you said we should go somewhere I wasn’t picturing so much garbage,” Rafe motioned towards the nearby dumpster.
You laughed, his playful words successfully easing your nerves. You took a deep breath and reminded yourself why you’d brought him out here.
“You heard me, didn’t you? In the shower?”
“I’m sorry,” he blushed, caught red handed. “I wasn’t trying to spy or anything. But
yeah.”
“I didn’t mean it,” you told him.
Hurt flashed in his eyes for just a second, before he nodded and squared his shoulders to cover it up.
“Got it,” he shrugged.
“No, I mean, the hating myself part,” you clarified.
“So the other stuff
?” He was quick to follow up.
The door for you to finally tell him how you felt was wide open in front of you, but you weren’t sure if you could walk through it. The words you’d been holding back your whole life sat on the tip of your tongue, but refused to pass your lips. You looked at him helplessly.
“I can’t,” you shook your head.
Rafe sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.
“What? You can’t what?”
Your mouth fell open in disbelief, incensed that he was the one with an attitude here.
“You know what?” You said, hands on your hips. “I don’t think you have a lot of room to be snapping at me, Rafe. Not after everything you’ve done.”
“Everything I’ve done?” He huffed. “Please, tell me what I did that’s so terrible?”
“Seriously? High school wasn’t that long ago, Rafe.”
“Look I know I was a dick, okay?” He stepped forward, voice softening a bit with his apology. “And maybe you’ll never forgive me. But all that shit? That guy? That’s in the past, and I don’t want to talk about the past anymore, I just wanna be with you now.”
“I don’t know, Rafe,” you shook your head sadly. “I don’t know if I can just pretend none of that happened.”
“How long then?” He threw his hands up in exasperation. “Tell me how long I’m gonna be paying for some shit I did when I was seventeen so I at least have an idea, please. Give me a date so I can plan for it.”
“Let’s see, Rafe, I wanted you for twelve years, you’ve wanted me for like two days. Does that seem even to you?”
Your words struck him, the anger in his eyes dissolving, replaced with tenderness. He stepped towards you tentatively, ducking just a bit to better read your face.
“You really think I’ve only wanted you for two days?” He mumbled softly. “Baby
”
It was the second time he’d called you that today. You were in too much pain when he said it after you fell off the jet ski, but your brain had tucked it away subconsciously to revisit when you felt better. He’d called you baby before, when you were in high school. It had always given you butterflies, and you never called attention to it, afraid he’d stop if he realized how much it meant to you.
Since then, you’d reframed the memories to convince yourself that he never actually meant it, that it was some kind of manipulation tactic. But the way it rolled so naturally off his tongue earlier, and the way he’d breathed it so desperately now, made you reconsider.
“Please don’t call me that,” you pleaded. “Not if you don’t mean it.”
Rafe just blinked back at you, not an ounce of deception in his voice when he said, “I’ve always meant it.”
His confession pinched your heart, the whole story rewriting itself in your mind. For the first time ever, you let yourself actually believe that he cared for you, that he’d always cared for you. To anyone else who knew the whole story, it might seem unlikely, but seeing the look in his eyes right now, you had never been so sure of anything in your life.
You bit your lip as you looked up at him, your deep longing for him stronger than ever. He felt it too, you could tell by the way he drew closer, his body lining up with yours, eyes locked to your lips.
With the most tenderness you’ve ever encountered, he reached his hand up, the pad of his thumb landing on your bottom lip and pulling it gently from between your teeth, undoing you.
“Rafe
” you whispered, a plea and a question, as his lips ghosted over yours.
“Can I?” He breathed. “Please?”
You nodded, never meaning anything more than when you told him “yes.”

hii!! can i request for the event?? had this weird little scenario where a little kid goes up to reader, completely in love and confessing their love (even tho reader doesnt know who this little kid is) and the op men just look at what's happening with either a "😬" or "😠" reaction. any characters for this scenario would work but if you could put zoro as part of the 3 that would be great
Child Crushes Send me an event request!
Characters: fem reader x Zoro, Sanji, Shanks Total word count: 600
Zoro
“You are so beautiful!” A child screamed, slamming into you and wrapping his arms around your midrift tightly. “I love you!”
“Hey!” Zoro shouted, reaching for the kid. “Get off her!”
“Zoro!” you chided, shielding the kid from your boyfriend's wrath. “It’s okay!”
“You are the most amazing lady I’ve ever seen! Your smile is radiant, and you are kinder than anyone I’ve ever met!”
You laughed, slowly prying the kid off of you. You were about to bend down to talk to him, but Zoro beat you to it.
“Listen brat,” he hissed. “Go find another beautiful lady! This one is mine.”
The kid stuck his tongue at Zoro. “If you keep being so mean, she’ll leave you for a real man like me!”
“What did you-!”
“Zoro, stop!” you giggled, pulling him away. You looked back at the little boy, giving him a wink. “It was nice to meet you!”
“I’ll see you soon, lovely lady!”
You intertwined your arm with Zoro’s again, laughing at his outburst. “Wanna tell me what that was about?”
“He reminded me of that stupid cook,” Zoro groaned. “Besides, that kid needs to buzz off. You’re already taken.”
Sanji
“Excuse me miss,” a small voice came from behind you, and you turned around.
He was young. Probably around 6 or 7, with caramel brown hair and clear blue eyes.
“Hi there,” you said, breaking away from Sanji’s hold so you could squat down so you were at eye level with him.
“I just wanted to tell you are the most beautiful woman alive.” He held out a wildflower with small white petals. “Will you marry me?”
You giggled at his request. His bluntness reminded you of someone else you knew.
“I’m flattered. How about you come find me when you’re older?” you challenged.
He pushed the flower into your hands. “I will. I’ll never forget you! Until then, here’s something to remember me by!”
He took off, his cheeks pink with embarrassment. You laughed and stood up, your hand returning to Sanji’s.
“You have competition,” you teased.
Sanji hummed pleasantly, placing a soft kiss on your cheek. “He has good taste in women. Can’t argue with that.”
Shanks
You unfolded the note the little boy had given you and read the scribbles across the paper.
Please make my day and kiss me. You are so beautiful and kind. I love you.
Shanks peered over your shoulder, looking at the note, and burst out into laughter.
“Shanks!” you scolded under your breath. “Don’t laugh!”
“Look kid, only a real man gets to kiss this lady.” He planted a messy kiss on your cheek to prove his point.
The kid looked at you and him, and then ran off.
“Shanks!”
“He’ll be back, don’t worry.”
Shanks was right. A few hours later, the kid was standing at the end of the bar, peeking out and watching you from afar.
“You wanna impress her?” Shanks asked, creeping up behind the boy. “Give her a rose and ask her for a kiss. To her face. Like a man.”
“Will that work?” the boy whispered, glancing back at you nervously.
“That’s how I got her to kiss me,” he admitted. “Good news for you, I even have a spare rose.”
The little boy walked up to you, his knees visibly shaking as he gripped the rose in his hands.
“I got this for you,” he said softly. “Will you kiss me?”
Your eyes darted to Shanks, a smile dancing across your lips.
“Thank you,” you said, taking the flower from him and giving him a small peck on the cheek. “I’d be honored to kiss such a polite young man.”

silly little thing for my @steddiebingo prompt: nerds | 758 words | T |
"Hey, maybe he can help," Robin says, sweeping a hand towards Dustin who's just walked into Family Video for his regularly scheduled afterschool bug Steve and Robin time, interrupting their conversation.
"Oh come on." Steve shakes his head. "The kid doesn't want to hear about my trash heap of a love life."
"Oh, no, I absolutely want to hear about that." Dustin perks up at the opportunity to learn about Steve's trivial suffering.
"We're trying to figure out why Steve goes on a million dates but can't seem to find someone he actually likes," Robin fills Dustin in. "Tell him, Steve."
Steve groans, dragging his hands over his face before splaying them out sarcastically, as that's the only thing he can really do in protest right now. Dustin's looking at him expectantly, and Steve has no choice but to tell the kid all about Linda and Heidi and Brenda and Lucy and whoever else he's been out with recently, doing his best to answer any subsequent questions as PG as possible.
"Well of course you haven't found the one yet, you keep trying to date a bunch of normal, basic, girly girls. That's not your type," Dustin informs him once Steve's done talking.
Steve raises his eyebrows. "Oh, it isn't?"
"You can't really be that stupid, can you?"
"No, please, Henderson, enlighten me on what you think my type is."
"You're into nerds," he says like it's completely obvious.
Steve scoffs. "I am not into nerds. You know, just because I hang around you little weirdos all the time does not actually mean I want to hang around even more weirdos in all the other aspects of my life too."
"Seriously, Steve, think about it," Dustin argues. "Think of all the girls you've actually been really genuinely into in your life. They've all been nerds! Nancy-"
"- is not a nerd."
"She's a straight-A student and a journalism super geek. She's a nerd."
Steve rolls his eyes and sighs grudgingly. "Alright, fine, but-"
"And you were into Robin-"
Robin wrinkles her nose. "Ugh, don't remind me."
"-who you can't deny is definitely a nerd," Dustin continues.
"You know what, actually, he does have a point," Robin says.
Steve looks at her in betrayal. "Don't encourage him!"
"That girl you told me about that you liked in middle school who was super into Star Trek, and the other one who wanted to write a fantasy novel one day- oh and the elementary school crush who was always reading a new book every day..." Robin lists, ticking each one off on her fingers.
"I told you all that in confidence!"
"They were all nerds!"
"Exactly." Dustin grins, vindicated and insufferably smug. "Ergo, you, Steve Harrington, need to find yourself a nerd."
"I am not into nerds!" Steve protests hopelessly.
"What more proof do you need?" Dustin says. "You're into nerds."
"Totally into nerds," Robin concurs.
Steve huffs and throws up his hands. "Fine! I'll admit I'm into nerds if it will make you two shut up about it!"
Eddie happens to wander into the previously empty store at that exact moment, catching the tail end of the conversation as he approaches the counter. "What's all this about nerds?"
Steve freezes, glances Eddie over and stares at him strangely for a few long seconds. "Holy shit," he mutters.
His gaze cuts to Robin, whose eyes go wide when she meets his look. "Holy shit," she agrees.
"Oh my god."
"Oh my god."
"Dude."
"Dude!"
Eddie blinks at them. "Are you two having some sort of joint stroke or something?" He looks at Dustin as if the kid might have a better clue of what's going on. "Can you understand them?"
Dustin shrugs, equally mystified. "Don't look at me, man. They're weird."
The incomprehensible parroting conversation is still going on.
"Okay," Steve's saying, taking a deep breath in through his nose and exhaling determinedly.
"Okay?"
"Okay."
"Okay." Robin grins and shoves at his shoulder.
Steve finally turns back around and leans on the counter in front of Eddie with a classically charming smile. "So, Eddie, are you free on Saturday?"
Eddie smiles back despite his confusion. "Yeah-"
"Oh my god!" Dustin bursts out suddenly.
"Oh my god," Robin agrees with a knowing smirk.
Eddie glances at Dustin. "Oh no, not you too."
Steve exhales a long-suffering sigh and pushes himself off the counter, marching around to grab Eddie by the hand and drag him away from Dustin and Robin. "So. Saturday?"
"He's into nerds," Dustin whispers, wide-eyed.
Robin nods sagely. "He's into nerds."

Summary: When Logan finds out this his celebrity crush’s celebrity crush is HIM!! He freaks out. Thankfully, the internet (and Oscar) manage to do most of the work for him.
Warnings: Swearing. Fluff
Requested: No. I just love Logan Sargeant
I put an embarrassing amount of effort into this one, especially that letter. 2024 season

user1 girlies, who is this logan sargeant and how is he managing to make our girl smile like that
→ user2 he’s an f1 driver. yn grew up watching f1 and is still a huge fan of it
→ user3 a vroom vroom guy! the shame
user4 i can’t believe these came out in the same week???
→ user5 the universe is aligning
user6 okay but i don’t think any of us would recover from them dating. they’re both so hot  liked by yn_official_ln
→ user7 omg omg omg she liked the tweet
→ user8 @/logansargeant look at this!!
user9 okay but i really hope that somebody showed yn that episode of team torque because she loves f1 and i feel she would die
→ user10 babe, if logan is her celeb crush, what makes you think she hasn’t watched it herself? liked by yn_official_ln
user11 can we all take a moment to admire how calm yn was in her interview though. she admitted she’s had a crush on a guy since she was like 17 and didn’t even blush
user12 okay but yn’s liked tweets section is going to send logan into cardiac arrest
user13 @/logansargeant shoot your shot, dude!

yn_official_ln vroom vroom what an exciting day. a huge thank you to mclaren for inviting me into their garage. i can’t put into words how amazing it was to be inside an f1 garage, and the whole team were warm and welcoming.  (i’m still convinced these two are dating though???)

user1 someone check on logan please? is he still alive?
→ user2 no because the way he just stopped dead in the middle of the paddock when he spotted her walking with oscar and lando
landonorris right, i’ve told you like 10x now. we are NOT a couple. he just looks at me that way
→ oscarpiastri whoa, don’t act like you’ve not been caught giving me the goo goo eyes too
→ landonorris goo goo eyes? who taught you that!
→ yn_official_ln that would’ve been me when i was showing him the photo i took of you looking at him with goo goo eyes
→ landonorris i take it back. i don’t want you to come again next weekend
→ yn_official_ln but i already booked my ticket :(
→ user3 i fear logan may have passed away
williamsracing perhaps we could poach you into our garage next time?
→ user4 logan ghost wrote this
→ yn_official_ln would i get an ls2 cap to go with it?
→ logansargeant you can have mine liked by yn_official_ln
→ user5 they interacted!
→ alex_albon i’m hoping he won’t see this because it’s hidden within comments but logan won’t stop giggling at his phone
danielricciardo it was so great to meet you. i didn’t know it was possible for one person to do so many different voices
→ yn_official_ln give me time to watch some interviews and i bet i can do you by silverstone
→ danielricciardo i don’t think logan would appreciate that
→ yn_official_ln omg! no! not in that way! i think i’ve made it clear that aussie drivers aren’t my type
→ arthur_leclerc what about monegasque?
→ yn_official_ln not american, not for me liked by logansargeant
→ user6 i love how bold she is! logan, go for it! She has literally announced to the entire world on multiple occasions that she’s into you

alex_albon i thought we were friends. you can tell me right? new movie? new album?
→ yn_official_ln as my friend, i can tell you that you already know
→ user7 new boyfriend
georgerussell63 what’s all this then
→ landonorris george admitting he’s not cool enough to be included in the inner circle
→ yn_official_ln don’t pick on him. there’s pics of him looking like amelia airheart on the internet, he’s suffered enough
→ georgerussell63 @/logansargeant why do you like this one
charles_leclerc the news is that she’s an ambassador for lec ice cream
→ yn_official_ln deal but only if i can meet leo
user8 okay but all the f1 drivers being here makes me think something
→ user9 she’s been in the paddock and went to a few garages. i think she’s made friends with a lot of them
williamsracing just checking that we’re still on for sunday?
→ yn_official_ln like i would miss the british gp
→ lilymhe you’re going to be in silverstone? omg, i’m freaking out. alex, why didn’t you tell me!
→ alex_albon yeah, she’s racing instead of me liked by logansargeant
user10 miss rabbit has fainted
francisca.cgomes i was not familiar with your game. i need you to kiss ME like that
→ pierregasly pardon? you better not come anywhere near alpine on sunday
→ alex_albon like logan would let her leave williams
user11 logan liking but not commenting? do we think he’s actually died upon seeing that yn has a boyfriend?
→ user12 hear me out. what if he’s the boyfriend
→ user13 babe, i think you’re as delusional as he was for thinking he had a chance. nobody has a shot with their celeb crush, even if you’re semi-famous yourself
→ yn_official_ln wait, so i don’t have a shot with my celeb crush either?
→ oscarpiastri i think your celeb crush would let you step on him if you asked
→ user14 i love that the grid are exposing logan being down bad for our girl

user3 i’m sorry but did anyone else see logan kissing someone who looked an awful lot like yn after he realised he was almost in the points???
→ user4 and we all know she was in the garage that weekend
→ user5 fans caught video footage of her hugging him, and he just folded into her in shock, his helmet was still on and everything
alex_albon i don’t think this counts as a soft launch after you were caught on camera in front of millions
→ logansargeant i’m trying my best, okay!
→ yn_official_ln you’re doing amazing baby
→ user6 miss yn, are you even trying to hide it
→ user7 she kissed him on live tv, i’m gonna go with no
