the way the most recent pokemon games don't let you turn off the exp share or the affection mechanic bonuses is nothing short of maddening. i think they make great accessibility features If Only They Were Optional and the flavour text is cute, but i want to have a fun casual playthrough that's at least mildly challenging without having to make it a nuzlocke or something. i don't want to feed my starter bitter medicines to make her hate me :(
#JUST LET ME TURN IT OFF... PLEASE....#i can't do nuzlockes i do Not have the willpower to stick to the rules and they stress me out haha#anyway i am a fool who's left all of my DS games in norway and i got a hankering for replaying sinnoh games#so i decided to get shining pearl right. figured it might be fun even if ill miss the 4th gren spritework something fierce#what ensued was a needlessly complicated process just to get a copy that was slightly cheaper than full price nintendo blood money#there's a store that listed shining pearl at a lower price. not brilliant diamond - just pearl#i feel like maybe it's by mistake since that's the price of a nintendo DS cartridge. so maybe wires got crossed#the norwegian version of the store does NOT have the price disparity.#anyway i can't order online without a swedish phone number. and the local store is out of stock#so i have several long walks to the store to get them to order it in for me and then to order it delivered to me etc#and then of course another long walk to pick up the mail BUT I HAVE IT NOW. I HAVE VIDEO GAME#and it's very nice and nostalgic with a couple quality of life upgrades#my first pokemon game was pokemon diamond. when i got it i was still learning english and had no idea what was happening at any time#good times good times#obviously no pokemon run is ever gonna be as challenging as my first ever run#it does not need to be! u can immediately tell that a lot of difficulty in earlier games is that leveling up your team was a hassle#and almost always required grinding. i do not miss that at all ! but the remakes seem to be Extremely Faithful#so they're not rly structured around how fast you can level your whole team#or that your pokemon are gonna start doing extra crits or hold on to last HP before u even get to the third gym#OH WELL#you know what's very exciting for me though. i have a misdreavous!!! they're pearl exclusive and not in platinum#ive always wanted to do a sinnoh run with a misdreavous on my team for some reason

the thing that gets me about the, "oh it's quick bc it's war, it's more realistic," defence for soap's death is 09 ghost's and roach's deaths were abrupt as well but they were still treated with dignity
ghost screams for roach and tries to kill shepherd before he’s killed. we the player get to sit and watch with a dying roach
roach tries one last time to get the dsm even though it’s hopeless. we see the way they throw ghost's body, the rising dread as they spread the fuel. the hatred for shepherd drags out when he flicks the cigar and lights it and the screen slowly darkens, music swelling as he gets away with it and roach finally dies as well
we hear price scream through the comms and the devastating realisation hits that if he'd called just a little earlier, they might have lived
that is how you do an abrupt but dignified death that respects the audience
mw3 is how you throw together a rushed and disjointed climax and hope people swallow it
#soap dies from an out of character decision from price not letting him kill makarov in the helicopter#when price has had no qualms for the past two games to bend rules and make the choice he thinks is right not the one thats correct#and an out of character decision from soap to stab him in the shoulder instead of the head or just shooting him since he thought he was dow#theres no reaction from anyone apart from ghost and price saying his name#gaz just calls price to disarm the bomb#then they stand there looking at soap as price calls in a debrief#theres no anger no devastation no lighting the fire of revenge#theres no music nothing to symbolise this loss not only of a main character that we love but a character we /play as/#theres nothing in the writing the characters the music the atmosphere to push this as an emotional scene#hes just there#makarov doesnt come across as a true villain to be afraid of and angry at#hes just a guy that shot someone bc he brought a knife to a gun fight#all of this after stripping soap of his main kill and personal enemy with a pathetic excuse#which was already insulting#but to bring graves back from the dead then hammer home four seperate times that soap is 100% dead? that felt targeted and deliberate#it wasnt a meta choice to prsent his death as realistic#stories arent meant to just be realistic theyre supposed to evoke emotion#this was a poorly written death in a poorly written story for a rushed campaign and theres nothing else to it#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#cod mw3#mw3 spoilers#john soap mactavish#soapghost#soap cod#simon ghost riley#ghost cod#captain price#kyle gaz garrick#call of duty#we’re a team. ghost team

i want to find some obscure feat that people still keep accurate records about and become the first nonbinary person to do the thing and have my name live on through that, at least in a small corner of niche historians
first nonbinary person to become a chess grandmaster?
first nonbinary person to climb denali?
first nonbinary person to win the price is right?
idk i'm sure i'll find something

Copperhead usually operates as a hitman but he's also an expert thief, utilizing his metahuman abilities and skills in contortionism to slip through even the tightest gaps to get at his target. He'll steal whatever his contractor desires, ensuring a timely delivery leaving no trails leading back to them while those who his employers wish dead will be hunted relentlessly, his choice of murder usually being either venom or strangulation.

The Price May Be Right - Opening & Rules
Last May, I did a countdown of my favorite Christopher Lee performances, in celebration of the late, great actor’s 100th Birthday. Even as I was in the process of making such a list, however, I immediately had in mind ideas for another countdown that would come the following May – this May – in honor of another fine, fabulous, favorite actor of mine. Coincidentally, not only did this same performer share the same birthday as Christopher Lee (albeit during different years), and not only did he work with him in a few good movies (and some not-so-good ones), but the two performers were very good friends in real life. That performer, of course, is the inimitable Vincent Price.
While Price was an actor before my time – he actually passed away less than six months before I was born – he, alongside Christopher Lee, has always been among my greatest inspirations. A lot of people don’t realize just how versatile and skilled a performer Vincent Price truly was: while most people know him well for his work in horror films, and for playing many a dastardly and urbane villain in his time, Price’s career stretched across all genres for over 50 years. He played everything from bit parts to main protagonists, from romantic leads to comedic crooks. He was prolific across basically every form of media one could find: records, radio dramas, theatrical films, television productions, and theatre. He worked in musicals, in animated pieces, and even in theme park attractions. Alongside Christopher Lee, Price was – and remains – one of the single most productive actors of the past century or so. Price never got the accolades in his lifetime that I think he fully deserved; he never got an Oscar for his work, nor any sorts of nominations for the same. Indeed, most of the nominations and awards he did receive came near or even after his passing. Despite this, I’ve always felt that Vincent was one of the most hardworking and fun actors who ever lived. Much like his friend, Christopher Lee, no matter what part he was playing, nor what film he was in, he did his best to enjoy himself and give the audience something to enjoy, in turn. He never phoned in a performance, and he was one of those splendid actors who could make just about anything watchable. With his marvelous and unmatchable voice and grand sense of wit and humor, he could turn just about any role into something spectacular. So, I decided it was time I give him his fair due! Over the course of this month, I’ll be counting down My Top 31 Favorite Vincent Price Performances, spanning just about every portion of his career in the process. The only real rule here is that I obviously have to have seen his performance in order for it to qualify; with hundreds of roles under his belt, there are numerous options to choose from. Tomorrow, I’ll be covering some Honorable Mentions: a Twisted Ten Performances that I absolutely love, but didn’t quite make the cut. Then, starting May 1st, the countdown shall begin in earnest! I hope you all will join me for a little event I’m going to call…The Price May Be Right!

USA please listen to me: the price of “teaching them a lesson” is too high. take it from New Zealand, who voted our Labour government out in the last election because they weren’t doing exactly what we wanted and got facism instead.
Trans rights are being attacked, public transport has been defunded, tax cuts issued for the wealthy, they've mass-defunded public services, cut and attacked the disability funding model, cut benefits, diverted transport funding to roads, cut all recent public transport subsidies, cancelled massive important infrastructure projects like damns and ferries (we are three ISLANDS), fast tracked mining, oil, and other massive environmentally detrimental projects and gave the power the to approve these projects singularly to three ministers who have been wined and dined by lobbyists of the companies that have put the bids in to approve them while one of the main minister infers he will not prioritise the protection of endangered species like the archeys frog over mining projects that do massive environmental harm. They have attacked indigenous rights in an attempt to negate the Treaty of Waitangi by “redefining it”; as a backup, they are also trying to remove all mentions of the treaty from legislation starting with our Child Protection laws no longer requiring social workers to consider the importance of Maori children’s culture when placing those children; when the Waitangi Tribunal who oversees indigenous matters sought to enquire about this, the Minister for Children blocked their enquiry in a breach of comity that was condemned in a ruling — too late to do anything — by our Supreme Court. They have repealed labour protections around pay and 90 day trials, reversed our smoking ban, cancelled our EV subsidy, cancelled our water infrastructure scheme that would have given Maori iwi a say in water asset management, cancelled our biggest city’s fuel tax, made our treasury and inland revenue departments less accountable, dispensed of our Productivity Commission, begun work on charter schools and military boot camps in an obvious push towards privatisation, cancelled grants for first home buyers, reduced access to emergency housing, allowed no cause evictions, cancelled our Maori health system that would have given Maori control over their own public medical care and funding, cut funding of services like budgeting advice and food banks, cancelled the consumer advocacy council, cancelled our medicine regulations, repealed free prescriptions, deferred multiple hospital builds, failed to deliver on pre-election medical promises, reversed a gun ban created in response to the mosque shootings, brought back three strikes = life sentence policy, increased minimum wage by half the recommended amount, cancelled fair pay for disabled workers, reduced wheelchair services, reversed our oil and gas exploration ban, cancelled our climate emergency fund, cut science research funding including climate research, removed limits on killing sea lions, cut funding for the climate change commission, weakened our methane targets, cancelled Significant National Areas protections, have begun reversing our ban on live exports. Much of this was passed under urgency.
It’s been six months.
