Tsk tsk, don’t you know that battle concept powerpoints are a core part of being a trainer? No wonder you’re so wrong about Aces you didn’t even power the point. Smh.
i feel like im probably going to get like 40 notifs abt this but thats ok
the concept of ace pokemon is legitimately stupid to me. like im being frfr abt this i think having one of your pokemon be ur 'ace' pokemon is highkey dumb. like shouldnt ur pride as a trainer be that all ur pokemon are good? are you really that good at battling if ur not working with ur ENTIRE team to take down an opponent? i get it if you have only like one pokemon that battles but if ur a competitive trainer with a fully trained competitive team why is your joy and pride as a trainer a SINGLE pokemon? you should have synergy with your ENTIRE team, you and ALL your pokemon should be pushing each other to improve. like. you have an entire team for a reason right? you caught all your pokemon for a reason right? you value your entire team equally right? they're all ur trusted partners whom you care for and hold a mutual respect with?
like if im being completely honest i think if you have a member of your team you consider your 'ace' you're tacky and cringe (in the bad way <3) and probably not as good of a trainer as you think you are
#pallas perspective#I’ll be real I was gonna bitch u out some more#but the seminar line got me#i think we should make people write a thesis if they don’t like a move#or get peer review before evolving#it would be funny#want an everstone? make graphic design your passion NOW#also I ROCKED that prom dress#but I’m not saying more to a kid.

so, im a hugeeee pokemon fan, and i couldn't resist giving some LI's full teams, i'm posting them for peer review (and also i have no idea what nicknames they would give their pokemon, so uhhh help ?)
I tried to take pokemon solely from the Galarian pokedex, cause it's the UK equivalent and I thought it'd be fun :
Kylar's team:
Chandelure was a Litwick he found in his house a few days after his parents had "the accident", and it brought him some much needed warmth. The things about Litwicks, is that they leech off of people's life force, but is also said to guide lost children to the spirit world, but Kylar was too stubborn to die, so the Litwick stayed and grew up into his Chandelure.
The Absol he found when he was in middle school, he was fleeing from bullies and ducked into an alleyway, where he found an injured Absol staring intently at him. Absols are seen as doombringers because of their ability to foresee imminent disasters, so this one had been chased off and thrown rocks at, meaning it was in bad shape. Kylar took it home and nursed it back to health, and it has since refused to leave his side.
Decidueye was the offspring of his parents' pokemon, and has been his since the egg hatched, so it's very attached to its master, willing to do everything for him, it was here for the accident and remains highly protective of its master. (also owl motif hehe)
The Alolan Ninetales I have less of a reason for, but it is said to act as a guide to people when they come to its mountain, and I had this idea of Kylar coming up the snowy mountain for some reason, and the Ninetales growing fond of this tiny shivering kid, and just following him and cuddling him until he caught it. (idk i just want good things for Kylar ig sue me)
The shiny Galvantula was for me a result of Kylar trying his hand at breeding Joltiks for fun, and this one being in the first few eggs he finds. He decides to keep it, at first for bragging rights, but he really does take good care of it, so another pokemon is added to his ever growing cuddle pile.
Finally, the Crobat was probably found in the rafters of the mansion as a small Zubat, around the time Kylar only had the Litwick and Rowlet. Kylar, having leftover pokemon food, decides to just feed the little fella, and a good friendship blooms. Crobats are said to be extremely stealthy, and can drain people of their blood, so Kylar has gained himself a convenient way of scaring off rivals.
Whitney's team:
Cinderace probably came up to Whitney when he was a child as a Scorbunny, seeing him play football with his friends and wanting to play too. A fast friendship, I'd say, I think Whitney would have been a super energetic kid, and a Scorbunny is perfect for him.
The shiny Togekiss was probably a Togepi gifted by his uncle, and technically a Togekiss, which usually avoid strife, should never stay in Rapeshire, this one likes Whitney too much to leave, it wants to bring him as much joy as possible.
I mean come on, Obstagoon is THE deliquent pokemon, of course Whitney has one. Maybe gifted to him by one of his gang's members ? I think that'd be cute.
Drednaws are seen as highly aggressive so I'm thinking one might have been rampaging through "Whitney's territory", and he wrestled it into "submission", gaining its respect, not before he gets bit through a little tho. He still has the scar from the incident, and the Drednaw sometimes licks at it in apology, now that its been caught.
Alright so I have the headcanon (or maybe it was canon and I forgot) that Whitney has had a garden since he was a kid, and maybe the Roserade came from there as a little Budew ? As in, it was interested and just started staying around, and Whitney couldn't get rid of it, so he just caught it.
Lastly, Sylveon. Sylveons evolve when they have high enough friendship with their trainer (and a fairy move), and obviously Whitney has been pampering it, but I'm thinking it probably doesn't come out of the ball in public much, it's kind of his secret ? But yeah, it's still very much loved.
Robin's team:
Dubwool was found as a Wooloo by the PC when they were going around the moors, it probably escaped from a farm and PC just brought it back for Robin to take care of as a gift. Its wool is said to be bouncy, but I think it can also be a way for Robin to ground themselves if they ever panic, as in they can bury their face in the wool and just shut the world out, I think that'd be sweet.
Goodra has been with Robin since it was a little Goomy, which are considered the weakest dragon type (the pokedex says it not me). Goomys are very good at detecting danger, and can hide very easily, so, sensing little Robin's good intentions, it probably helped hide him from Bailey. Apparently, Goodras give amazing good hugs, even if they do cover their trainer in slime, but I don't think Robin would mind.
Quagsire, similarly knew Robin as a Wooper. Woopers, when walking on land to find food, develop a toxic membrane on their bodies, but this one couldn't quite manage it, and was attacked by predators when Robin was passing through. Robin chased off the predators and gave the Wooper some fruits to help it recuperate, and its been attached to them ever since. Quagsires are very carefree pokemon, and they make great pillows. Basically I'm just giving Robin a perfect team for a cuddle nest.
Victini is the only legendary on this list, and I felt it was only right to give Robin the ever cheerful Victory Pokemon. Victini probably found Robin either after they were taken to the docks, or if that hasn't happened, after they confess to PC. Robin keeps Victini secret at all costs, as it would be hunted for its ability. Having Victini around probably helps Robin regain some self-esteem, and they make a great duo.
Boltund is a dog Robin found in the park one winter day as they were selling hot chocolate, a poor cold mutt with no identifiable traits proving it was owned. Robin secretly took it home and made the split second decision to keep it, now they've got a very excitable dog that's unflinchingly loyal. Boltund acts a sort of guard dog as well, reassuring Robin when they're walking past the docks.
Whimsicott had infiltrated the orphanage, and pulled a prank on Bailey, as Whimsicotts are wont to do, covering his office in its excess cotton. Bailey was furious and looking everywhere for the mischief maker, but the little ball of trouble had hidden itself in Robin's room, and the latter decided to keep it out of trouble and continue hiding it. Ever since then it's felt indebted and stays with Robin. It also quite likes to play pranks on Bailey, and that brings a smile to Robin, so why not continue to do it?
Sydney's team
Inteleon was actually gifted to Sydney as a Sobble by Sirris, reasoning his child should have a partner pokemon, so Sydney is the only one of this list with an actual starter pokemon (in the sense that he was supposed to go on a pokemon journey but ultimately stayed home). Inteleon loves its trainer very much, even if it has to force them to take breaks every now and then. A laid back pokemon and a hardworking trainer is a good duo, they influence each other a lot.
Audino was actually the temple's pokemon at first, acting as an aide to the temple's nurse, but it liked Sydney a lot and always fussed over them much more than any other initiate, so the temple relented and allowed Sydney to keep the Audino. Audino is actually the first one to pick up on Sydney's crushes, since it can use its feelers to sense its trainer's emotions. It subtly pushes Sydney to confess every time.
Dragapult was a lonely Dreepy haunting the temple's cemetery, having been left behind by its pack, it was letting out little mourning cries, which naturally attracted the curious little Sydney, who started leaving some food out for it, since it was too flighty to be approached at first. A few more weeks of getting it used to their presence, and it let itself be caught and taken care of.
Lilligant to me, was originally Sydney's other parent's pokemon, and acted as a sort of mother to them from the start. Lilligants release a soothing aroma, and I think in a time of mourning, or when Sydney lost Kylar, it would act as an aid and smother Sydney in the fragrance to help him feel better.
Okay so work with me for Volcarona here, because in multiple pokedexes, Volcarona is said to have been revered as a sun deity, and while that isn't the case today anymore, it still is a very significant part of Volcarona's history, so finding one in the woods while on a walk someday and being followed by it to the temple, all the while acolytes and initiates are falling to their knees around you is not the thing Sydney was expecting, but still, Volcarona has chosen them, so might as well roll with it.
Finally, Dedenne was a living in the school library before Sydney found it chewing through books and decided to give it a better home, and now it lives with them. It likes to take care of the books as well, and has become the library's unofficial mascot.
so uhh yeah those were my thoughts, tell me what you think ?

With Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon originals covered, may as well put this in full circle with Disney TVA (only bringing up non-preschool stuff and the half-hour ones to make it simple). Who is your favorite character from the 1987-92 half of the Disney Afternoon era cartoons you saw like: Adventures of the Gummi Bears, The Wuzzles, DuckTales 1987, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, The Little Mermaid 1992, Raw Toonage, and Goof Troop?
I haven't seen Gummi Bears or Wuzzles, though the former's theme song kicks ass and I love that it keeps getting brought up. Ducktales 87: *womp womp womp womp womp womp* Faviorite character is Webby. It was a shockingly easy choice but she's adorable, and while she has a cutsey nature a lot of the time it's oftset by her genuine heart and pluck. She'll gladly tag along, and while she'll cry and be more emotinal because well.. 80's kid show version of what they think a little girl is, those emotoins often ground her against her peers, less in the cliche
Way and more simply by having more of a heart than scrooge (who shuts his off but Webby is one of the few people that can bring out his warm caring side) and the boys (Who are often sexist dicks who need to get thrown into a volcano tekken stylez to learn a lesson). Her reboot self IS better in pretty much every way
But it's comparing a character who got a lot of layers and came out in an era where women were actually writing the character. So the comparison is hard.
So as for the show itself.. it's decent. It has gorgeous animation, captures barks style well and throws in it's own touches with webby and launchpad (and beakly but unlike the og webby who I feel is underated, og ms beakley sucks as much as her reputation), and later Gizmoduck. It's a solid series and it's easy to see why it set off the disney afternoon and disney tva as a whole; while gummi bears proved it was possible, Ducktales proved it could be a roaring success and that putting good money into animation was just good sense. The show changed animatoin.
I respect the show but admit it's just.. okay to me. It's not bad, I wouldn't mind reviewing more episodes , plug plug plug shill shill shill, but it just dosen't really hit me the way some of the other cartoons in this block or later disney stuff does. IT's a fine adaptatoin, decent enough and Alan Young is THE scrooge, with David Tennant a close second, but it's just not something I seek out. Granted i'm bad at watching shows that are just sitting ther eon D+ but while I enjoyed what I saw before the reboot back when I had the dvd, it's one of those shows that was worldshaking then but now is just.. okay> Not bad, still specail, but just not for me. Maybe that'll change if I see some of the later episodes, I feel my opinon could easily evolve, but for now it's just a fine part of the lore and worthy of adding to the cannon , but not for me.
As a bonus since all of the shows adapted are present i'll also throw my opinons in on the nes games as one of the first things I got for my PS4 was the disney afternoon collection and while I intend to review these games in full at some point (Again comms are open for those intrested) . So in order: Ducktales is really good, a solid platformer whose only real flaws are difficulty (not as bad in an age of rewinds) and the amazon requiring a cash gate. Really fun platformer. The second one is decent, not quite as good but I do like the adition of adapters like mega man.. even if said addition left me stuck at one point bu tthat's ag ripe for another day.
Finally we have remastered, another one to review some day and a beautiful well game you can still find on steam and I have on both there and x-box 360. like with the disney afternoon collection it was one of my first purchases when I got one again about two years back. It feel slike a grand and proper finale to the cartoon, bringing back everyone who was alive at the time, having vibrant animation and ending on a wonderful note. IT's only real issues are difficulty once again and the fact the lovingly crafted story to justify each level does eat up a bit of time in each level and breaks the momentum. I wish we'd get another platformer like this from disney though I intend to try illusion island at some point.
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Eeore. Always. Honestly haven't seen this one outside of some vauge recoltions of catching it on disney channel as a kid, so I can't say much but unless they made him a giant sentient fart cloud that kicks tigger in the gonad I doubt my answer would change.
Chip N Dale: Gadget. She's the kind voice of reason, and can be real funny. The show itself.. is mid. I've reviewed a few episodes at this point and the show is fine, it just leans into cliches a bit, which being a late 80's show, isn't suprising. It's got some creative energy, a standout ep or two and some shockingly adult content, but it dose'nt have ducktales grandness or the next two's energy and vibe. It's just kinda a kids show As for the NES games the first is like the show itself: fine, kinda forgetable, probably not bad to at least check it out. The second on the other hand is a shocking leap in quality: the sprites are more detailed, it evolves on the pick up stuff and throw it gameplay, and gives the game an actual plot.. an excuse plot still but one fitting the show and shockingly detailed for an early 90's videogame. Well worth checking out.
Talespin: OH OH OH OH OH OH SPIN IT!. I've made my love for what i've seen of talespin (I badly need to watch more) very clear. My faviorite is Sheer Khan, a villian whose a nice mix of caluating and honorable: unlike most buisness scumbags, while he will do shady stuff, he does so right and can be our heroes ally, enemy or a neutral party depending on the day, utterly respecting higher for higher but not being afraid to go against them if needed with cold, calculating percision. A perfect adaptation
As for the show itself.. it's a lot of fun. Granted the 1930's 40's pulp adventure setting with plans, tons of gorgeous tropic vistas and eiral acrobatics is for me: I love a good plane, and I love this kind of 40's set story if done right. See INdiana Jones. So it works. it has a great main cast, fun antagonists, and a great setting. Unlike Ducktlaes the episodic nature dosen't bother me as much because they vary it up more, sometimes adventuring around cape suzette sometimes doing globetrotting. It all depends on what the episode needs and this show is sensatoinal The nes game is a tad hard, you WILL die and you WILL need that rewind, easily the hardesdt of the bunch.. but I can't hate it being fun, breezy and having a kickass chiptune version of the theme. Granted it's also because I just love this cartoon so much, so i'm an easy mark, but it is a lot of fun and I feel dosen't get the respect it deserves.
Darkwing Duck: Negaduck, the perfect arch enemy. While Darkwing has a solid as hell Rogues Gallery, Negaduck has that extra menace, being one of the very few foes of his that comes off as menacing, with Jim Cummings low growl feeling perfect. He's everything Drake COULD be and worse: Cold, arrogant, murderous and yet he still fits the zany tone, gladly whipping out a chainsaw or engaging in slapstick just enough to make him not feel jarring iwth the show as a whole, but not enough to undercut his menance
The show itself is great and I REALLY wish we'd gotten that reboot. But the original is really good: like ducktales or chip n dales it's got a very loose continuity and i've talked at length about how the episode order is a styigan labyrinth from which few escape. But it mostly works.. by being funny. When it isn't it's mid and i've reviewed plenty of episodes I didn't like.. but when it's working, it REALLY works, having a ton of laughs, a suprising amount of heart, and a really fun well thought out prtoaganist: part egotist, part genuinely heroic, part judgemental fuckup, all darkwing duck
The final NES game covered here and easily my faviorite. Granted it's partly a prefrence thing: I'm a HUGE mega man fan, so getting a game tha'ts essentially another nes mega man but still perfectly caputres the spirit of darkwing duck is an easy sell. The game is HARD, though rewind helps.. but man if it isn't fun. Like all 6 games, capcom put a lot of heart into it and a lot of effort into matching the style of the show. And while the music for all 6 games slaps, darkwing has the best soundtrack by far, perfectly fitting the show, the foes all fitting the zany superhero parody feel an di'ts impressive given the game was clearly put into production early into the shows run using production materials as everyone works for fowl like in an early pitch.. and yet despite this the game is juts pitch perfect.
The Little Mermaid 97: I'm only including this because like winnie the pooh I defintely saw it once in a while, but I dont' remember it. Sorry.
Raw Toonage: I've only seen the episode I recently reviewed and it was.. okay. The first segment was like living in a living nightmare and bonkers sucks at least in these (His own show is probably fine, haven't seen it), adn the other two were fine. Like the concept fine enough.
Goof Troop: REPORT TO THE GOOF TROOP. I like most of the cast.. but it's Goofy. It's the boy. This is one of the best versions of him, though Goofy Movie obviously fleshed him out considerably, this is where the groundwork was laid out. Goof Troop itself is decent.. it dosen't always land or age perfectly, Max like the boys can oscelate betweeen tolerable and punch him in the head, but it's over the top fun nature, great slapstick and kicking theme song help. It's jus ta lot of fun. Budaopbobadowop YEAH

How Philosophy (and Sociology) Ruined My Life
i hate being a sociology student, it has ruined my life. having read Foucault, i just can't get myself to accept the necessity for discipline anymore. the correlation between respect and obedience can always be conditional and due to the dynamism of powers in play all around us from all directions.
why do i work out? is it to fit into beauty standards that may make my life easier and extend my lifespan by being healthier and requiring less medical support? (i personally love working out purely for the instant gratification reason and my sadomasochistic relationship with myself... did i mention that i am a runner as well?) but how can i happily abide by the beauty standards if i know they evolve and exist as an elitist, discriminatory classification that helps perpetuate capitalism, mass consumption and that is why we have so many "produced insecurities".
it is simply vain of me to exercise and count my macros? does it make me fat phobic?
in academia, now the field of scientific research and peer reviewing is also becoming corrupt with nepotism, the field in itself is elitist and by default political- in favour of the neoliberal right wing government. how can i spend every day of my pursit of this degree knowing of the unfairness and systematic discrimination that the bureaucracy perpetuates within the institutions?
in employment, the exploitation of wage earners by capitalists, greenwashing of commodities, sheer dishonesty to maximize profit for social status and growing my capital and value as a member of society that pits us all against each other unless we have a common motivation by membership into a common class. is selfish to have a job and be able to cover all my expenses, and then set aside savings when i am aware there are millions of people in dire need of funds, and some of their lives in poverty and unemployment will end before midnight tonight due to no faults of their own?
what about responsibility? social responsibility for egalitarianism and conservation of the planet for future generations should lie with everyone, but with some more than others.
oopsie thought too hard, nap time now (: kissie kiss- time for the path of least resistance for me I guess. we all live in different fields and are manufactured by different habitus. my privilege to be able to disobey and deviant

Peach I can prove that reviving Fossil Pokémon does not turn them into rock types. There are in fact some ancient pokemon that weren't revived but instead have simply been hibernating underground for millions of years and Ash can prove it. There was a cave at a dig site where omanyte, omastar, kabuto, kabutops and areodactly were found hibernating and they were all rock types. Ash got kidnapped by the last one. There has also been other instants and Ash has been apart them.
Peach: Okay that's one avenue, but you're also forgetting a couple hundred things.
Peach: One, Its entirely possible that they evolved to coincide with their environment.
Peach: Two, It is physically impossible for them to have simply Hibernated for hundreds of thousands of years like that- they're not legendaries, they cant survive that long during an eternal sleep and no outside human stasis.
Peach: Three, I've SPOKEN to Professor Foster, And he's adamant that they were there, LIVING, long before we started to research the area. Proving that they were evolving to avoid the mass extinction their species was originally thriving on.
Peach: So, I guess you "got" me good on that one, but it doesnt explain why our revival process gives them a rock typing and why several other species we havent found alive are ALSO rock types.
Peach: So congratulations on (((Reads notes))) Proving that im wrong on one subsection of Fossil types even though your theories can be explained away- oh whoopsie! I dont think i was supposed to read that last part outloud.
Peach: And for your information, I have talked to Ash about this, he's my fucking brother. And if you'd actually bothered to talk to him he could tell you so many stories about Aura in living beings that help PROVE our scientific cases and disprove others. Serves you right for not getting this properly peer reviewed!
Peach: Get on! Im adding another essay to your homework >:(

Predictions for Star Trek Strange New Worlds S2 E5 "Charades"
Ahead are my predictions for the upcoming Star Trek SNW episode "Charades." Possible spoilers below the line since I am making specific guesses.
We've been told that the episode is a comedy, so I worry a bit. Mainly because when the SNW writers get their hands on a comedy concept, character integrity can go out the window. This is just my current take on SNW, it may change. But the showrunners have said that they want to see more comedy and that the story takes precedence over what's been written before them. When it comes to how they write for Spock, it can be hit or miss. In my opinion, it's usually a miss, because they prefer to focus on Spock's comedic angles and this relegates his actual characterization and identity struggles to an afterthought. And it's not that playing it safe is the answer, either. Last week's E4 played it safe, which I'll get to in another review, and found itself weaker for it for a few reasons, even though I liked it in general.
What makes me have low hopes is that the Star Trek writers implied that a bowl cut is a genetic trait in the trailers so far. I think that saying removing Spock's Vulcan DNA makes him change his hair, or be prone to eating bacon and forgetting how to be a Vulcan is a bit stupid. Yeah, maybe his digestive system normally can't eat bacon so he could now, but his Vulcan behaviors and beliefs are not biological. Vulcans are the way they are because of a set of philosophical choices and cultural norms. The only thing missing should be his telepathy and ability to control emotions/shielding. That's kind of the point of Spock's struggle with his identity. A fanfiction writer would absolutely recognize that, which makes me wonder if the writers don't, or are willing to disrespect the character integrity for comedy, and in my personal opinion, both are bad choices.
Vulcans are vegetarian on principle (they even used to eat meat) and may have consequently evolved to have a digestive system that rejects meat. Many humans are like this, too. My younger sibling is a vegetarian. If they woke up tomorrow as a carnivorous alien, they would still not want to eat bacon, unless their identity was changed too. And then they wouldn't be my younger sibling, they'd simply be a carnivorous alien that looks like my sibling. It stands to reason, therefore, that having your DNA changed wouldn't make you a meat eater.
That's sort of WHY Spock has a dual identity and rejects one constantly—because it's not genetic, there's norms that pressure him. It's what makes scenes like TOS' "The Naked Time" so valuable ("When I feel friendship for you, I'm ashamed.") That's cultural conditioning. It's not genetic. It's so central to Spock as a character that when he dies, he reaffirms he feels friendship, because it's been hard for him to get to that point. To say this is genetic is cheapening it. So I hope they'll address this adequately and not just chalk everything about his identity to his biology, because that's weak character concept. So if you're going to do this, I ask that you give us an actual reason for Spock to eat bacon and say "fuck." Just don't tell us he's like this because they removed his "DNA." Michael Burnham had a whole thing about how she was raised Vulcan as a human, and was alienated by her peers. And Sybok is an emotional Vulcan.
Anyways, what is charades? It's a game where you act out a phrase without speaking. I assume there will be a sort of tongue in cheek attempt at trying to fix Spock (superficially) and make him seem more Vulcan in time, along with them actually putting fake ears on the man. Actually, they'll probably have Chapel give him the temporary genetic change like they did in the very first ever episode of SNW (the one that made him scream in pain- is this why he's screaming in the trailer or is my boy just having a bad time?)
Anyways, if it were like a bit of My Fair Lady (or Pygmalion) that would be kind of fun. Or perhaps a Comedy of Errors type beat. What I hope they do not mean is for Charades to be a meta reference to Star Trek mimicking its own tropes. Eventually it becomes self referential and that can be tired.
We know he's relatively recently engaged to T'Pring, so maybe this is his engagement party or the Vulcan equivalent. Vulcans have a lot of traditions rooted in their past. I expect we'll see a bit of push and pull between Spock's feelings towards T'Pring and Chapel. I expect T'Pring will demonstrate she cares for him and this may somehow draw him away from Chapel, since we know that doesn't last. Amok Time doesn't tell us much about their history, so it would make sense if T'Pring's family is exerting intense Vulcan norms on him, and she defends Spock for who he is. I think we deserve to see that from T'Pring and we deserve that kind of demonstration of Spock's identity struggle.
I kind of get the sense Captain Pike is mostly going to stand around being in hot Captain dad mode because he's wearing the green shirt. Calling it. He seems more like he's actually playing host to the Vulcan get together, even though he's ship Captain. Maybe Pike'll cover for Spock while he is eating bacon and saying fuck.
Spock's mom is going to be hot. This is not a prediction. It's a fact.
I think by the end Spock is going to be comprehending his feelings a bit more and getting clarity because he lacks the ability to simply bury them as a human. And maybe this somehow sets the stage for his emotional maturity and the person he'll become by the time Kirk is Captain.
I really think the Chapel tension resolves here. After all, there are no real stakes. We know the ending. We know there's nothing in the way to threaten that. Star Trek's storytelling is constrained by itself. So the stakes are going to be just the "will they won't they" between Spock and Chapel, which I personally don't like anyway. I would think a reasonable resolution is for Spock to realize that all the deep emotions he's feeling are those of platonic love. It would make sense to say that he didn't really understand the difference between romantic and platonic love because Chapel has very strong feelings and he's never had close friends or romantic love before. His engagement to T'Pring is not born of love. I could see Spock outright saying to Chapel something like "I now know that I care deeply for you. And know I know that I do have a lot of feelings for you: as a friend." It would do them both justice and give Chapel the ability to grow as a character outside of the romance tension.
Ultimately I think Chapel might get sidelined for Spock to get development time with Jim Kirk and Uhura. Ten episodes gives them so little time to show us relationships. And that's not the fault of Chapel's character. I believe she needs more substance still. She's a vast improvement from her 60's counterpart but I think she's still not particularly well written. I assume she pursues her two month archaeological project on Vulcan and gets with her canon partner, Roger Korby. I think she'll take that up by the end of the season and we'll hear more about it by the end of episode 8.
Strange New Worlds often spends more time telling us it is Star Trek than being Star Trek and I think ultimately this episode will be like that. The show falls victim to itself on occasion. I do like SNW and I love Star Trek, but I suppose I'm a bit of a cynic. If they were a bit more brave and a little less reliant on pandering to the mainstream and the endless belief that the modern audience needs love life drama in the form of people who behave just like 21st century people, they'd be better for it.
It would also be quite meaningful if the crew were to decide that they prefer Spock how he really is as a person. Let's see.
As for the literal plot resolution, I'm curious about how this'll happen. The plot concept is kind of weird to begin with. Aliens removed his DNA? Maybe they send Chapel and Ortegas (an experienced pilot and has some tension with her also) to go again and try replicating the conditions under which the change to Spock happened or try to contact the aliens. After all, why did they remove the DNA in the first place? Maybe they just talk to the aliens and they're like, "Oh, my bad, we thought he was upset by being Vulcan. It was causing him pain. We'll put it back." And then they restore him, shields and all, and he's the most Vulcan he's ever been. Maybe they just find a contrived cure. It really could go any way.
Okay, that's all for this week.

Re: the 'clumsy writing' you mentioned on twitter - I suggest you either invest in a good English tutor, or you try writing in your native language. It would certainly help with the clumsiness.
Will you pay for the tutor, oh wise anon? What else do you suggest - that I get my fics, which I write for free, for fun, peer-reviewed before I post them?
Please don't do this to a non-native English speaker. English is, in fact, my fourth language, and I am trying very hard, thank you very much.
(Context: I reread my first multichapter fic this morning - a relatively old thing - and commented on how much my writing skills have evolved since them, calling some of my phrasings 'clumsy' - which they are. Why Anon was too much of a coward to confront me on twitter about it if they saw it there is beyond me.)
#Sweet is rambling#Anonymous#languages#on one hand this message is absolutely laughable#on the other hand it does sting#I really am trying

so i was reading this article in the failing new york times
which for those of you without a free subscription from your college, they talk about GMO trees being planted for carbon capture despite no peer reviewed studies on whether the mutants are even better than wild type. but what particularly interested me is what they did to the poplars: they’re trying to fix RuBisCO.
(for those of you who did not take intro botany, RuBisCo is the enzyme used in photosynthesis to actually stick the carbon dioxide the plant breathes in to molecules in the plant. it’s the reason almost everything on earth is alive but it evolved before there was much oxygen in the atmosphere so it constantly fucks up and adds oxygen instead of CO2, creating toxins that plants waste energy detoxifying. its also slow as fuck but they dont talk about fixing that)
linked was this wild article from 2019, in which three alternate metabolic pathways were added to tobacco to break down the glycolate produced by RuBisCO fucking up. they literally built pathways out of various different enzymes used by different species to try and get glycolate into something useful for the plant. and it worked??? and they grew faster in a field experiment??? absolute sci-fi shit going on here.
that being said the living carbon planting DOES need to have more supervision because planting trees that can 1) grow faster and 2) reproduce asexually in the wild sounds like a monoculture waiting to happen even if theyre not expected to breed, assuming their untested claims are true. potential for huge bottom-up trophic cascades that need to be accepted before rolling this out to more places.
#imo fine plant them on some fucked up land and see what happens. but we are also 3 steps from things that could fuck up the atmosphere and#give us giant bugs again.

Thanks for the peer review o7 i will use this power for ramble
I do think that a lot of the fic sex/romance issues were started in a genuine push to not spread misinformation, bc iirc fics used to parrot a lot of common myths re: intercourse (even moreso than now), especially ones about non-"traditional" non-cishet practices. And safety. And anatomy.
Which, it's cool and good to see a push for sex positivity and education! But I do feel there's now a pressure (internal or external) for the sexual aspects of fic to be textbook safe, sane, and consensual in all avenues.
I have 2 main reasons (beyond fic ≠ sex ed) that the squeaky clean route shouldn't be our only route. Which are: characterization, and erotica vs romance.
Firstly, characterization:
Intimacy can be an amazing way to explore characters, a relationship, or even a setting in your story. You can miss out on a lot by treating sex as simply a lesson rather than a tool in your narrative toolbelt!
Tbh I think the reason gen z ppl (like me) often say we "hate sex scenes" in media is bc they feel unnecessarily explicit or unnecessary in general, and we often don't have the language for what the problem is. Or we misattribute the ickiness to sex scenes happening at all!
I'm grayace and they can be boring af, or sometimes creepy as hell for reasons unrelated to the narrative (stop auteur directors now! /hj).
But one of my fave fave fave book series is the Binding Light trilogy by Freya Marske (I think the author's on tumblr actually), in which the sex scenes are narratively pivotal. And I, the sex scene hater, love the series sm I didn't even have to look up the title or author just now!! Unheard of!!!
These books are so dear to me bc the intimate scenes mirror both the (wonderful, superb) magic system AND the characters' relationships! Their sexual vulnerability and connection evolves alongside the characters' development. I've never before rambled about breathplay as a metaphor for trust, but Marske had me writing ESSAYS. My apologies to my friends' DMs
At first I had skipped those sex scenes, but once I had to go back for plot info, actually reading them made me go "oh holy shit this is all important".
I think stories miss that relevence pretty often. You don't NEED to have sex scenes, but also you CAN have them wherever it feels right.
IMO It's important to treat intimacy (of all kinds) in a work as character exploration first, rather than purely mile markers or something for characters (and writers) to "get a good grade in"
Moving on to erotica vs romance:
I've recently been watching a lot of SAVY WRITES BOOKS on youtube, and in one of her CoHo reviews she talked about the difference between works labelled "erotica" and "romance".
To her, romance novels have a sense of realism, they exist in a world that functions (at least adjacently) like ours. A romance would treat consent and safe sex like we do irl (or some historical equivalent based on setting). Basically, characters wouldn't be able to smash in a subway car without getting charged with public indecency.
Thus, if the characters were practicing BDSM, they would on some level acknowledge they're performing a scene (ex. consent check-ins and safewords). Here we have some level of RACK. Or if its unhealthy, there's framing acknowledging that fact!
Whereas erotica exists inside that BDSM scene! An erotic fic that tags its kinks and content correctly has given you enough for you to have informed consent. If you read the fic, you will thus be reading the "fantasy" of a BDSM scene. We know this isn't necessarily realistic or healthy, and that's fine! We read it with the knowledge it's not meant to be!
Uhhhh so. This was a really long way for me to explain "fanfic isn't sex ed so it's fine if they don't always use contraceptive"
tl;dr Intimacy and sex are cool for characterization. And smut is a Scene, if a person is informed of its contents all consent is accounted for :)
author’s notes today: hey guys so just a warning there isn’t 100% explicit verbal consent even though they’re both really into it so remember this is FICTION, also they don’t use a condom :((( but in real life safe sex is important!!! please be safe out there everyone
a/n back in the day: kept thinking about ____ stabbing knives through both of _____’s hands to pin him in place while they fucked so here you go lol =P
#nsft#fanfic#im using that bc its relevent gdi#cw sex mention#i am sorry mutual and op but. i had an excuse to rant about one of my favorite books series#and intimacy as a characterization vehicle can be SO COOL#i spent too much time on this i need dinner#harp rambles

The Essential Guide to Choosing the Right Laboratory Equipment Supplier
Selecting the right laboratory equipment supplier is crucial for any research facility, educational institution, or industrial lab. The quality and reliability of your equipment directly impact the precision of your work and the success of your projects. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you make an informed decision when choosing a laboratory equipment supplier.
1. Understand Your Specific Needs
Before choosing a supplier, clearly define your lab’s requirements. Whether you need basic glassware, advanced analytical instruments, or specialized lab essentials, understanding your needs will narrow down your search for a supplier that meets these demands.
2. Evaluate Product Quality
Quality should be a top priority when selecting a laboratory equipment supplier. Look for suppliers offering equipment that adheres to international standards such as ISO certifications. High-quality equipment ensures precision, durability, and safety during experiments and procedures.
3. Check for a Wide Product Range
A reputable supplier should have a diverse range of products, from basic laboratory glassware and rubberware to complex scientific instruments. This saves you from dealing with multiple vendors and simplifies the purchasing process. Opt for a laboratory equipment supplier who can meet all your lab needs under one roof.
4. Assess the Supplier's Experience and Reputation
Experience matters in the field of lab equipment supply. Suppliers with years of experience tend to have better knowledge about the industry and the evolving needs of laboratories. Additionally, check reviews, testimonials, and industry reputation to ensure that you are partnering with a trustworthy supplier.
5. Consider After-Sales Support and Services
After-sales service is crucial for maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment. Choose a supplier who offers reliable customer support, maintenance services, and warranties. This will help you avoid downtime and ensure that your equipment functions optimally over time.
6. Evaluate Pricing and Value for Money
While it’s tempting to choose a supplier with the lowest prices, it’s important to consider the long-term value. A cheaper product may cost more in repairs and maintenance over time. A good laboratory equipment supplier should offer competitive pricing while maintaining high-quality standards.
7. Look for Customization Options
Some laboratories have unique requirements that may need custom equipment solutions. A flexible supplier willing to accommodate custom orders can be a valuable partner in helping your lab achieve its goals.
8. Check Delivery and Installation Services
Fast and secure delivery is essential when choosing a laboratory equipment supplier. Additionally, some equipment may require professional installation to ensure proper setup and function. Select a supplier that offers these services to simplify the process and get your lab up and running smoothly.
9. Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards Laboratory equipment must adhere to safety standards to protect users and ensure a safe working environment. Verify that the supplier complies with relevant safety regulations and standards in your region. This is crucial for the safety of your staff and the integrity of your research.
10.Seek Recommendations and Referrals
Ask colleagues or industry peers for recommendations on reliable suppliers. Personal experiences can provide valuable insights into the service quality, product reliability, and overall professionalism of a laboratory equipment supplier.
Conclusion
Choosing the right laboratory equipment supplier is a critical decision that can significantly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of your lab operations. By considering factors like product quality, customer support, and industry reputation, you can ensure that you select a supplier who meets your needs and supports your research or educational goals. How to Choose the Best Digital Marketing Course in Thane as a Beginner?
In today’s digital-first world, digital marketing has become one of the most in-demand skills.
Whether you’re a student, a working professional looking to switch careers, or an entrepreneur aiming to boost your business online, learning digital marketing is essential.
If you're located in Thane and want to take your first step into the field, selecting the right digital marketing course is crucial. But with so many options available, how do you know which one is the best fit for you as a beginner?
Here are some key factors to consider when choosing the right digital marketing course in Thane:
1. Accreditation and Course Reputation
One of the first things you should look for in a digital marketing course is its accreditation and reputation. A well-recognized course will help you gain industry-validated certifications, which can be beneficial when applying for jobs or freelance gigs. Additionally, research the course reviews and testimonials to get a sense of the experiences of past students. Look for courses that are recommended by professionals in the industry and are taught by experienced trainers.
2. Course Curriculum and Content
For beginners, it is important that the course starts with the basics and gradually moves to more advanced concepts. The curriculum should cover essential digital marketing topics like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising, Social Media Marketing (SMM), Content Marketing, Email Marketing, and Analytics. You should also check if the course provides hands-on projects and practical assignments, as these help in building real-world skills.
Ensure that the course content is up-to-date with current digital marketing trends. The digital world evolves rapidly, and a course offering outdated strategies may not provide the competitive edge you need.
3. Experienced and Qualified Instructors
The quality of instruction is crucial when choosing a digital marketing course. Opt for courses that are taught by industry experts who have practical experience in the digital marketing field. An experienced mentor can offer valuable insights, share real-life examples, and provide personalized guidance throughout the learning process. Instructors who have worked on campaigns for real clients and have years of experience can help bridge the gap between theory and practical application.
4. Mode of Training: Online vs. Offline
As a beginner, you’ll need to consider the mode of learning that suits your lifestyle. Many digital marketing courses in Thane offer both online and offline options. While online courses offer flexibility and convenience, offline courses provide a classroom environment where you can interact directly with trainers and peers. If you prefer flexibility, online courses could be ideal. However, if hands-on guidance and networking with fellow learners are essential to you, an offline course may be a better option.
5. Internship and Placement Assistance
Theoretical knowledge is important, but digital marketing is a field where practical experience is key. Before enrolling, check if the course offers internship opportunities where you can apply what you’ve learned in real-world scenarios. Additionally, placement assistance is an added advantage, especially for beginners looking for their first job in digital marketing. Many reputable digital marketing courses partner with companies to provide job placement opportunities for their students.
6. Course Duration and Fees
The course duration and fee structure are other important factors to consider. As a beginner, you may not want to commit to a long-term course right away, especially if you're testing the waters. Look for short-term courses that offer comprehensive knowledge in a shorter time frame. At the same time, compare the fee structure of various courses and ensure that it aligns with your budget. Keep in mind that the cheapest course may not always provide the best value.
7. Certifications Offered
Certifications play an important role in validating your digital marketing knowledge and skills. Reputable courses should offer certifications that are recognized by industry bodies, such as Google, HubSpot, or Facebook. These certifications will boost your resume and improve your chances of landing a job or freelance projects.
Conclusion
Choosing the right digital marketing course in Thane can be challenging, especially for beginners. By considering factors like accreditation, course content, experienced trainers, and placement assistance, you can make a more informed decision. Remember, digital marketing is a dynamic field, so ensure that the course you select provides you with not only foundational knowledge but also keeps you up-to-date with the latest industry trends and tools. With the right course, you'll be well on your way to building a successful career in digital marketing.

Welcome to the New Era of Social Proof for High Engagement, Where It's More Than Just Customer Testimonials.
We are constantly observing sales and marketing in today’s digital marketing world. Consumers are more hyper aware of what’s happening around them. They have become more skeptical, they make informed decisions and even call out the business if there is any spam. They are more cautious about their purchasing decisions. In short, they need more than just validation from the company’s word, they also need confirmation from other sources before committing to a purchase. This is where a new era of marketing enters, called social proof. This is not just where a simple testimonial stands, its power goes far beyond that. Let’s see how social proof has taken businesses to a whole new level of marketing, where people will easily trust the business, and improve sales.
What is Social Proof?
As humans are social beings, they tend to believe in a word of testimony from known people. Social proof is a psychological event where people believe in the actions and beliefs of other people, coming under the impression that they are right. When it comes to sales, social proof can be a powerful tool. It persuades people to believe in other people’s opinions, behaviors, and actions. It's a form of validation that makes buyers trust the business and the services they’re promoting, with some positive reviews posted on their website or on any other platform. With the abundance of digital platforms and social networks, social proof has evolved into various forms. Sure, word of mouth works in this modern generation as well. But we no longer see direct endorsements from previous customers. Instead, we see it in a lot of analytics type features, such as user-generated content and social media metrics, as well as expert opinions and peer reviews.
Types of Social Proof:
User Generated Content:
UGC is a useful tool for businesses to get a rock solid testimonial. In this way, people voluntarily post any form of content reviewing the product, and the business can gain immense profit from that content. It is entirely created by customers rather than the brand itself. Now, UGC has become a cornerstone of social proof because it is authentic. It provided relatable content as it was done by fellow people and not by any businesses. It is easy to trust because common people who have used the product demonstrate how it is used, as well as review the content, especially in the form of video content. Whereas in traditional testimonials, the advertisement of the product can be staged, it actually provides a genuine glimpse into how the products are used in real life. For example, GoPro is a camera brand that excels in UGC by showcasing breathtaking videos captured by its users. This approach made people aware of the product's capabilities and also built a vibrant community of users. UGC is a breeding ground for content since it is solely created by users. It provides a continuous stream of fresh content if your product is doing well and people are happy with your product.
Influencer testimonials:
When you take an influencer word for a product, it is a way how social proof has entered. Influencers have a major following and have accounts for specific niches. With their particular niche in hand, they can take the purchasing decisions into their own hands and provide testimonials or reviews of the product. These are people with a more human-like and intimate bond with their audience compared to businesses. As a result, their followers tend to find their suggestions very credible. For example, Samsung or Sony corporations work hand in hand with technology influencers who assess and market their most recent devices. They are respected by technology enthusiasts due to their detailed reviews as well as the visuals they offer. This detailed review gives potential customers a thorough understanding of the product's features and benefits. Understanding what customers need allows you to deliver a great customer experience at every step of the buyer journey. The rise of micro-influencers is also a thing now. Individuals who have less than 100,000 followers can have a highly engaged audience due to their low follower count. Collaborating with these types of influencers will create enough leads, as the followers will have ease of trust with their favorite influencers.
Customer Reviews and Ratings:
Client testimonials and ratings act as an important form of social validation, with sites like Amazon, YelpYelp, and TripAdvisor playing a major role in what people will eventually purchase. Through testimonials, customers may be given a selection of curated responses, but when it comes to reviews, there’s something more real about them. Because they do not filter out anything. They point out the mistakes and even post negative reviews if they’re not satisfied with the product. Therefore, it’s important to have a lot of reviews so that the product can improve with constructive criticism. For example, when Amazon customers leave in depth feedback and ratings regarding different items, they are in essence helping others who might want such items develop a good understanding after reading their reviews. Ratings that are high with commendable reviews can make products appear desirable and popular. Detailed feedback speaking to particular issues can help potential buyers identify their own and could desire clarification. In addition, brands like Amazon add features like verified purchase badges, which help customers find their reviews trustworthy and add layers of authenticity and engagement. These are some of the types of social proof I’ve mentioned, along with others that exist. How to Secure Your Codebase: Essential Tips for Repository Management
In today’s digital landscape, securing your codebase is more critical than ever. As development teams increasingly rely on version control systems, safeguarding your repository becomes crucial to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and code tampering. Here are essential tips for managing and securing your codebase effectively.
1. Use Strong Authentication Mechanisms
One of the first lines of defense for securing your codebase is implementing strong authentication methods. Utilize Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of security beyond just passwords. This ensures that even if credentials are compromised, unauthorized access is still prevented.
2. Set Up Proper Access Controls
Control who can access and modify your codebase by setting up granular permissions. Only grant access based on roles and responsibilities. Use least privilege principles to ensure that users have only the permissions necessary for their tasks. Regularly review and update access controls to reflect changes in team roles and project requirements.
3. Employ Code Review Practices
Regular code reviews are essential for maintaining code quality and security. Peer reviews help identify and address potential security vulnerabilities, coding errors, and adherence to best practices. Implement a policy where all code changes are reviewed before being merged into the main branch.
4. Implement Version Control Best Practices
Utilize version control systems (VCS) like Git effectively to manage your codebase. Follow best practices such as committing changes frequently, using descriptive commit messages, and branching strategies. Branches should be used for feature development, bug fixes, and experimental changes, with thorough testing before merging into the main branch.
5. Encrypt Sensitive Information
Ensure that sensitive data, such as API keys and configuration files, is encrypted both at rest and in transit. Avoid hardcoding sensitive information in your codebase. Instead, use environment variables or secret management tools to securely handle sensitive data.
6. Regularly Update Dependencies
Keeping dependencies up-to-date is crucial for security. Outdated libraries and frameworks can introduce vulnerabilities. Use automated tools to monitor and manage dependencies, ensuring that you are always using the latest, most secure versions.
7. Perform Regular Security Audits
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of your codebase. Use automated tools to scan for known vulnerabilities and potential issues. Additionally, consider third-party security assessments to get an external perspective on your codebase's security posture.
8. Backup Your Codebase
Regularly back up your codebase to protect against data loss due to accidental deletion, corruption, or ransomware attacks. Ensure that backups are stored securely and tested periodically to verify their integrity and usability.
9. Educate Your Team
Training and educating your development team about security best practices are vital. Ensure that they are aware of the latest security threats, coding standards, and secure development practices. Regularly update training materials to reflect new security trends and technologies.
10. Monitor and Respond to Security Incidents
Implement monitoring tools to detect unauthorized access and suspicious activities in real time. Establish an incident response plan to quickly address any security breaches or vulnerabilities. Regularly review and update your response plan to adapt to evolving security threats.
youtube
Conclusion
Securing your codebase is an ongoing process that involves multiple layers of protection and vigilance. By implementing these essential tips for repository management, you can significantly enhance the security of your codebase and protect your organization from potential threats. Regular updates, continuous monitoring, and team education are key to maintaining a secure development environment.
