Tsk tsk, don’t you know that battle concept powerpoints are a core part of being a trainer? No wonder you’re so wrong about Aces you didn’t even power the point. Smh.
i feel like im probably going to get like 40 notifs abt this but thats ok
the concept of ace pokemon is legitimately stupid to me. like im being frfr abt this i think having one of your pokemon be ur 'ace' pokemon is highkey dumb. like shouldnt ur pride as a trainer be that all ur pokemon are good? are you really that good at battling if ur not working with ur ENTIRE team to take down an opponent? i get it if you have only like one pokemon that battles but if ur a competitive trainer with a fully trained competitive team why is your joy and pride as a trainer a SINGLE pokemon? you should have synergy with your ENTIRE team, you and ALL your pokemon should be pushing each other to improve. like. you have an entire team for a reason right? you caught all your pokemon for a reason right? you value your entire team equally right? they're all ur trusted partners whom you care for and hold a mutual respect with?
like if im being completely honest i think if you have a member of your team you consider your 'ace' you're tacky and cringe (in the bad way <3) and probably not as good of a trainer as you think you are

Was Athena a Feminist or a Female Misogynist?
Athena is perhaps the one most famous goddesses from Greek Mythology, and was for a very long time considered a good role model for women and a feminist due to the fact that she's a smart woman who can fight in battles. However, there are also a lot of people who claim that she is in fact a female misogynist and consider her to be the original "pick-me girl" or "I'm not like the other girls" girl. And the fact that she's seen besides male heroes most of the time or the myths of Medusa and Arachne doesn’t make this situation any better.
And the very first problem in this equation is that people are using a lot of modern terms (and a modern mentality in general) in order to label a figure that was firstly mentioned thousands of years ago. So there's a LOT to unpack here.
The first mentions of Athena come from mycenaean mythology. Back then the place that later became Athens surpringly had a matriarchal view on society, which would explain why Athena as a female figures isn't depicted in a traditionally feminine way. But years have passed, and things have changed a lot both socially and culturally. Athens, despite of being one of the most developed cities from Ancient Greece, had a very patriarchal view on society, to the point where even the other cities considered it to over exaggerate. In order to understand just how misogynistic athenians were, they believed not only that the woman is a disfigured version of the man, but that men could find a way to reproduce themselves without the help of women and that the female is nothing but a vessel when it comes to reproduction.
The thing is that, while a lot of things changed in the Athens in time, the goddess that was the patron of that city remained the same. So the question that naturally comes is: If women are inferior to men, then why is our patron deity a goddess? And so, the only play which specifically depicts Athena as a female misogynist appeared: Eumenides. This play was obviously written by a male Athenian, and its pure intention is to answer to that question. In the Eumenides, Athena says this thing:
It is my duty to give the final judgment and I shall cast my vote for Orestes. [735] For there was no mother who gave me birth; and in all things, except for marriage, whole-heartedly I am for the male and entirely on the father’s side. Therefore, I will not award greater honor to the death of a woman who killed her husband, the master of the house. [740] Orestes wins, even if the vote comes out equal.
As you can observe from this quote, the dialogue is ment to confirm the ancient athenian perspective about reproduction, as well as their views on women in general. Despite the fact that Metis was supposed to be Athena's mother since she was pregnant with her when Zeus ate her, in this play she is completely erased and Athena has one single parent figure: Zeus.
In other words, Athena was clearly a product of the society that worpshipped her; a society that believed that traits such as high intellect or strenght cannot be attributed to women. It is up to you guys to decide wheter the Eumenides is canon to the rest of Greek Mythology or not.
However, aside from this particular play, Athena shows no ill-will towards women purely for their gender. She had a very close relationship with Pallas to the point where she even takes her name after she killed her by accident (Thank you, Zeus!), and acted as the big sis towards Artemis and Persephone, as it is suggested in Homeric Hymns to Demeter.
Furthermore, if you ever read the Iliad then you would observe that her interactions with mortal women are very different compared to those with Medusa or Arachne from Roman Mythology.
In the Iliad, Athena gifts Penelope in handicrafts, wiles, and storytelling, making Penelope an anti-Arachne due to the fact that she isn't punished by the goddess for her talents, but rather blessed for them.
Athena has endowed her above other women with knowledge of fair handiwork and an understanding heart, and wiles, such as we have never yet heard that any even of the women of old knew, of those who long ago were fair-tressed Achaean women— [120] Tyro and Alcmene and Mycene of the fair crown—of whom not one was like Penelope in shrewd device…
At the same time, we have the story of Cassandra and how Athena avenged her. Cassandra was brutally raped by Ajax the Lesser in her temple. She asked Athena for revenge, telling her what happened to her. Athena was absolutely livid, sent a storm to wreck the Achaeans' boats when they failed to kill Ajax, then destroyed his ship near the Whirling Rocks and left him to die, or lifted him in the sky during a storm and impaled him with her father's thunderbolt. At this point, Cassandra is an anti-Medusa, because she was avenged instead of being punished for being raped. Furthermore, in the original greek myths Athena herself was about to be raped by Hephaestus at some point. She was very aware of the fact that there's a difference between a woman who had sex on her own will and one that didn’t consent to it, so it makes no sense why she wouldn't help a rape victim.
Medusa and Arachne were later additions by Ovid, and their stories were anti-Authority Propaganda.
So instead of quickly coming to any sort of conclusion and deciding wheter or not Athena was a Feminist or a Misogynist, perhaps people should understand the fact that the situation was way more complicated as she was nothing more than a character that was depicted both according to the societal and personal views ancient greeks had on women (which were more or less different depending on the century and the poet), and that the answer is way more complicated than we think.

Here's a couple of tips when dealing with genuine fur!
Lots of people say that water will "ruin" them, they're mostly exaggerating. If you get caught in rain or snow just make sure to shake it off and then hang it out to dry.
Avoid using a blow-dryer, heat can crack the leather or hide and stiffen it. Letting it dry naturally is fine.
You don't need to use a special comb or brush or anything to fluff it out, you can just brush it with your hand if it looks a bit flat.
If you spill anything on it, avoid using most stain removers, they can mess with the fur. Cleaning it with a wet cloth is the best move.
Avoid perfumes or hair spray when wearing it, they can stain and the oils get into the fur.
Finally, make sure to hang up the coat when you can!
Sorry to hear about your loss. Remember to look up how to care for Absol fur— Pokémon fur coats can be really hard to clean out
Yeah. My parents are going to help me out when they're not dealing with everything.

I’ve talked about this a little before, but Moonie_Fan_Collections on Instagram is interested in turning some of the Princess Tutu floriography designs into enamel pins! 💖 We want to know which ones people are most interested in, and since there are 10+ designs I figured people might be interested in getting a set with two characters at a time.
Please vote in the poll below to let me know which set you are most interested to see turned into enamel pins. The plan is to make each design double-layered (aka, a pin-on-pin or PoP), with each design being around 4 inches tall. While my idea is to do a set based on pairings (i.e., Fakiru or Ruetho), if people are only interested in one design in a set, that’s a possibility too, though Moonie says getting the set will be cheaper (to give some perspective on cost, my Sailor Pallas design Moonie recently opened for preorder was priced at $70).
Please feel free to share this with anyone you know who likes Princess Tutu! We’re a small fandom so I want to try to get the word out as much as possible. If you have any thoughts or comments, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll also share them with Moonie 😊

Asteroid Hygeia (10): Understanding Its Signs, Houses, and Planetary Aspects
Navigation:   ੈ♡˳Masterlist
       ੈ♡˳Askbox    ੈ♡˳Sources
₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ About the Asteroid: Hygeia is the fourth largest asteroid. It was named after the Greek goddess of health, and because she is the personification of health, cleanliness, and sanitation, asteroid 10 Hygeia may be related to these characteristics in astrology. It talks about sanitation and prevention, in the current studies of astrology, an art that doesn't stop, it is currently associated with how a person prevents their health in a physical, emotional and mental way, or at least, as it should.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Sources and inspirations:Sadly, it's not because I care about my health that I'm interested in this asteroid LOL. However, there is another interesting reason for me to make this type of post. Asteroids, in general, are not used much in birth chart reading, and that's okay. In my view, your birth chart is like a cake, and asteroids are just toppings. My reason for looking into asteroids is due to their history. The first four asteroids found were Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno, all women. Before their discovery, the vision of women was limited to either daughter/mother (Moon) or wife/harlot (Venus). Women were seen as nothing more than that. Even though it didn't change much after the discovery, a new perspective on what a woman can be opened up, and that's why I write about it. There’s not much sources about asteroids, Hygeia is one in the middle ground, there's more than others but it's not very detailed. My sources where this and this. Also, the image template in from minikyuns on deviantart.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Asteroid Hygeia Rx: It can indicate people who need more time to recover from physical and mental illnesses. Erichthonius of Athens
(Before the main post I wanted to say that I want to add some more animal attributes to my gods. When I found out that Hephaestus has a donkey under his patronage I couldn't resist lol. Of course, they are gods so they can change their appearance or hide something in it but for now let's give them a little shine.)
So, since we're sticking with interesting Greek myths, I have a story for you today that involves Athena's (short) motherhood, still as a virgin goddess.
Safe part: So Athena canonically decided to adopt Hephaestus' son, Erichthonius, who according to one version was half boy and half snake. The goddess left him to be raised in Athens where he grew up, proved his power and wisdom, and later became a legendary king. Wow, happy ending! Now you can move on to the less happy part. 🙂
Mentioning attempted rpe: I remember what a big wtf I had the first time I read this myth but Erichthonius' birthday is much more complicated. You see, Hephaestus and Athena were supposed to have a friendly relationship, platonic on her side but not on his. One day Poseidon told his nephew that the goddess of wisdom was making advances on him. So he tried to seduce her and when she didn't want to - tride to rped her. You don't have to guess that the goddess experienced in fighting defended herself but despite everything, Hephaestus' "seeds" dirty her thigh, she pushed it on the earth in disgust and because of that Gaia (personification of the Earth) gave life, which literally came out of a crack in the same earth. Athena decided to adopt child even though SHE IS NOT BIOLOGICALLY CONNECTED TO HIM, which is important since she is still one of the 3 virgin goddesses. (with Artemis and Hestia) I once read a version where she was supposed to clean her thigh with a lock of her cut hair, but most definitely it is a piece of wood, so we can safely say that the child was born of Hephaestus and Gaia only.
Mentioning successful s*icide: It is worth adding that Athena gave the boy to the three daughters of Cecrops, current king of Athens, to raise. The child was in a basket that they were not supposed to open, but because they did, they went crazy and threw themselves off a cliff. Here too, there are two versions, one says that it was because Erichthonius was actually half a snake, the other that in the basket, apart from boy, there was also a snake that attacked the princess.
I hope you like this interesting facts. It shows how thin the ice of decency of Greek myths is, but it also gives a very interesting perspective on this. I still prefer the myth of Pallas tho.

Transiting Sun enters Scorpio
Tuesday, October 22 - Thursday, November 21, 2024
Scorpio the Scorpion*:
• Water (emotional and soul - feeling, nurturing, hidden, sensitive)
• Yin (gravity - ingoing, receptive, intuitive, right-brained)
• Fixed (stabilizing security - concentrating, consolidating, focused, persevering, stubborn)
• Interpersonal (social - focused on others
• "I transform"
• Ruler - Mars (traditional), Pluto and the rest of the TNOs (modern); exalted - Uranus
• Color: deepest blue, so dark you can barely tell it’s blue and not black
*Gleaned almost completely from the book Astrology for Yourself by Bloch and George; the rulerships and color are my own theory/belief.)
===***+++***===
Not a pleasant, smooth, and tranquil transit - after all, it’s Scorpio! Bring on the drama and the feels.
And after all the drama and feels of Libra season, we’re all due for some self-analysis and introspective soul-searching. We may not always be comfortable with what we discover, but that’s part of the Scorpio process - becoming comfortable with the darker issues.
Try not to isolate yourself during this time. Scorpio tends to brood, and really needs others’ perspectives to keep it in line.
Allow a day or so on either side of these aspects:
Sunday, October 27 - Monday, October 28:
Sun/Scorpio inconjunct North Node/Aries, semi-sextile South Node/Libra, 4°57’
Sun/Scorpio (5°42’) sesquiquad Jupiter Rx/Gemini (20°42’)
And we’re off to a somewhat uncomfortable start. Perhaps we took on more than we can do? Asking for help is allowed!
Friday, November 1, 12:47 UT - New Moon, 9°35’ Scorpio. Xx
Monday, November 4:
Sun/Scorpio (12°26’) sesquiquad Neptune Rx/Pisces (27°26’)
Sun/Scorpio trine Saturn Rx/Pisces, 12°47’
Election Eve in the US. Don’t believe the Neptunian hype - the media wants ratings and revenue, and will do whatever it takes (including obfuscate or outright lie) to acquire them. Thank goodness for that steadying Saturn trine!
Sunday, November 10 - Monday, November 11:
Sun/Scorpio (19°12’) sesquiquad North Node/Aries (4°12’), semi-square South Node/Libra (4°12’)
Sun/Scorpio inconjunct Jupiter Rx/Gemini, 19°33’
Sun/Scorpio inconjunct Chiron Rx/Aries, 19°59’
And we return to biting off more than we can chew, except this time our health is involved. We have to be honest about our capabilities - and willing to “let go and let God/dess” when necessary.
Wednesday, November 13 - Sun/Scorpio sextile Ceres/Capricorn, 22°13’. Very domestic. We can find solace in our “families.” Maybe some holiday planning happens. We’re happy to putter. Take Grandma out for lunch!
Friday, November 15 - Saturday, November 16:
Full Moon, 24°01’ Taurus (21:28 UT)
Sun/Scorpio semi-sextile Pallas/Sagittarius, 24°09’
Sun/Scorpio (24°16’) semi-sextile Vesta/Libra (9°16’)
Sun/Scorpio inconjunct Eris Rx/Aries, 24°39’
Sun/Scorpio opposite Uranus Rx/Taurus, 25°14’
Disruptions and eruptions during this Full Moon! It’s weird energy. Something illumined that’s really surprising and extreme - while the inconjumct and oppositon are crackling around us, we’re using those semi-sextiles to try to figure out what to do.
Monday, November 18 - Sun/Scorpio trine Neptune Rx/Pisces, 27°13’. A nice way to finish Scorpio Season. If there are things we need to let go of, this energy helps with that. Spiritual vibes of forgiving and of being forgiven.

Spoken like someone who's never had a best friend.
i feel like im probably going to get like 40 notifs abt this but thats ok
the concept of ace pokemon is legitimately stupid to me. like im being frfr abt this i think having one of your pokemon be ur 'ace' pokemon is highkey dumb. like shouldnt ur pride as a trainer be that all ur pokemon are good? are you really that good at battling if ur not working with ur ENTIRE team to take down an opponent? i get it if you have only like one pokemon that battles but if ur a competitive trainer with a fully trained competitive team why is your joy and pride as a trainer a SINGLE pokemon? you should have synergy with your ENTIRE team, you and ALL your pokemon should be pushing each other to improve. like. you have an entire team for a reason right? you caught all your pokemon for a reason right? you value your entire team equally right? they're all ur trusted partners whom you care for and hold a mutual respect with?
like if im being completely honest i think if you have a member of your team you consider your 'ace' you're tacky and cringe (in the bad way <3) and probably not as good of a trainer as you think you are

kings rising highlights & annotations
chapter 14
indented text is from the book. some quotes have commentary, some do not. some comments are serious, and some are definitely not. most of them will only make sense to people who have read the series. and, like, there are spoilers. so please read the books first if you're interested!
also: part of the reason i'm doing such a close reading is to study cs pacat's style, especially in terms of how she does romance and erotica. there are "craft notes" that might seem weird, like i'm being redundant or restating something rather than analyzing, but those are more things that i want to remember/take away from the writing!
i'm going to tag these longer posts with "sam reads capri" in case anyone wants to read them all at once.
this is a google doc i wrote with overall content warnings for the captive prince series. it's not perfect, but i do think it's important to include.
Because he couldn't put Jokaste in a sack and carry her bodily across the border into Kastor’s territory, the journey presented certain logistical challenges.
In order to justify two wagons and an entourage, they would be pretending to be cloth merchants. This disguise was not going to stand up to any serious scrutiny.
well, actually...
Laurent wandered in and outlined a plan so outrageous that Damen had said yes with the feeling that his mind was splitting apart.
i’ve said the thing about laurent and tabletop rpgs before but UGH. he’d be living his best life
Jord who had won short sword, Lydos of the trident, Aktis the spear thrower, the young, triple-crowned Pallas, Lazar, who had whistled at him,
i like how everyone has qualifications except for lazar, whose identifying quality is that he is gay
Laurent’s addition to the expedition was Paschal, and Damen tried not to think too deeply about the reasons why Laurent thought it necessary to bring a physician.
LMAOOOOO
And if the worst happened, Guion’s testimony had the potential to bring down the Regency. Laurent had said all of this succinctly, and told Guion, in a pleasant voice, ‘Your wife can chaperone Jokaste on the journey.’
wait does damen not even know what the testimony is? iirc guion told it to laurent off the page, after the chair scene. is it the thing about the regent killing the former king, or was that paschal’s piece of the trial? do both of them say it? whatever, the trial stuff is fun but i’m not that determined to work it all out ahead of time. it was a lot more rewarding to that with laurent’s perspective, especially earlier on, but ehhhh here i’m going to take it easy
Guion had understood more quickly than Damen.
shocking (sorry damen)
‘I see. My wife is the leverage for my good behaviour?’ ‘That’s right,’ said Laurent.
when does loyse talk to laurent? does she ever, or does she just speak at the trial uncalled for? guess we’ll see and i’ll trace back what i think probably led to it
Damen watched from a second-storey window as they gathered in the courtyard: two wagons, two noblewomen, and twelve soldiers of whom ten were soldiers and two were Guion and Paschal in metal hats.
He was waiting for Laurent to arrive in order to discuss the finer points of his ridiculous plan.
Laurent was standing in the doorway wearing a chiton of unadorned white cotton. Damen dropped the pitcher. It shattered, shards flying outward as it slipped from his fingers and hit the stone floor. Laurent’s arms were bare. His throat was bare. His collarbone was bare, and most of his thighs, his long legs, and all of his left shoulder. Damen stared at him. ‘You’re wearing Akielon clothing,’ said Damen. ‘Everyone’s wearing Akielon clothing,’ said Laurent. Damen thought that the pitcher had shattered and he could not now take a deep draught of the wine. Laurent came forward, navigating the broken ceramic in his short cotton and sandalled feet, until he reached the seat beside Damen, where the map was laid out on the wooden table. ‘Once we know the rotation of the patrols, we’ll know when to approach,’ said Laurent. Laurent sat down. ‘We need to approach at the beginning of their rotation in order to give us the most time before they report back to the fort.’ It was even shorter sitting down. ‘Damen.’ ‘Yes. Sorry,’ said Damen. And then: ‘What were you saying?’ ‘The patrols,’ said Laurent.
damen can you PLEASE focus.
(this is part of why the baby thing doesn’t work for me. if this is a lighter comedy interlude, why is the baby meant to be understood as a dire, war-altering problem? and if it is a serious dire situation, why are we getting this moment straight out of a fanfic? i know damen is horny despite the horrors and it’s a treat for the reader, but i guess i’m just built different because this moment really does not do anything for me. although to be fair i think that’s partially just because i’m apparently sensitive to instances of laurent being reduced to his body and sexuality, or at least in a way that he is not aware of—see my chapter 12 analysis for the most blatant example. reminds me of the time last week that my mom said on the phone “you only want people to like you on your own terms,” which is a very accurate and damning statement tbh)
They had only twelve soldiers. Twelve-ish, amended Damen, thinking of Paschal and Guion.
AGAIN?? brutal. also i like the “ish,” it’s a little anachronistic and very charming
Vannes could handle Makedon, Laurent said.
i want more laurent and vannes interaction…
The soldiers only needed to know their own roles in the enterprise, and Damen’s briefing to them was short. But Nikandros was his friend, and he deserved to know how they would get across the border. So he told him Laurent’s plan.
honestly damen i think it would be a mercy not to tell him
‘It’s dishonourable,’ said Nikandros.
nikandros private twitter complaint #13. also akielions don't know what "honor" means
‘I wish to restate my strong objection,’ said Nikandros. ‘It’s noted,’ said Damen.
and there's #14
the awkward mien of his own soldiers, who had had to be schooled multiple times not to call him ‘Exalted’
clearly they did not attend the lamen school of committing to the bit
‘Your reports are wrong. The Lady Jokaste is in that wagon.’ There was a pause. ‘In that wagon.’ ‘That’s right.’ Another pause. Damen, who was telling the truth, looked back at the Captain with the steady gaze he had learned from Laurent. It didn’t work. ‘I’m sure the Lady Jokaste won’t mind answering a few questions.’
he rolled like a 9 for persuasion
He was red-faced and sweating slightly. ‘At the Lady’s request, I will ride with you personally through the last of the checkpoints, to ensure that you are not stopped again.’ ‘Thank you, Captain,’ said Damen, with great dignity.
i love that pacat didn’t tell us what the plan was, so we could worry for a second that they'd already failed. and then, this
‘The stories of Lady Jokaste’s beauty are not exaggerated,’ said the Captain, man-to-man, as they wound their way across the countryside. ‘I expect you to speak of the Lady Jokaste with the greatest respect, Captain,’ said Damen. ‘Yes, of course, my apologies,’ said the Captain.
“that’s my fucking DIVORCE HUSBAND”
He said, ‘How did you convince Jokaste to play along with the guards?’ ‘I didn’t,’ said Laurent. He tossed the wad of blue silk in his hands to one of the soldiers to dispose of, then shrugged into his jacket in a rather mannish gesture. Nikandros was staring at him. ‘Don’t think about it too much,’ said Damen.
i love the way “mannish gesture” is specified. like he can do both. good for him.
(this is sooooo botw/totk link. anyway)
Laurent held out his hand to escort her back from the supply wagon into the main wagon, a bored Veretian gesture. Her eyes had the same bored look as she took his hand. ‘You’re lucky we’re alike,’ she said, stepping down. They looked at one another like two reptiles.
they should be best friends
‘Keep the wagons on course,’ Damen said to Nikandros. ‘I’ll be swift, and I’ll take our best rider with me.’ ‘That’s me,’ said Laurent, wheeling his horse.
“and our horses are canonically in love. just in case you’ve forgotten”
Sweeping a branch out of his face, Damen said, ‘I thought when I was King I wouldn’t be doing this kind of thing again.’ ‘You underestimated the demands of Akielon kingship,’ said Laurent.
i love prince's gambit
‘The undergrowth was thinner when I was a boy.’ ‘Or you were.’
did laurent just call him thicc
‘Stop,’ said Laurent. Damen stopped. Following Laurent’s gaze, he saw a dog lounging on its chain near a small penned field full of horses on the west side of the estate.
me when i want to pet a dog
‘I’ll take care of the sentries,’ said Laurent. ‘You left the dress in the wagon,’ said Damen. ‘Thank you, I do have other ways of getting past a sentry.’
The light through the trees dappled Laurent’s hair, which was longer now than it had been in the palace, and showing signs of minor disarray. It had a twig in it.
how dare that twig mess with laurent’s gorgeous hair!!!
There was no sign of a blond head, but somehow the dog got loose and went streaking through the yard to where the unfamiliar horses were penned.
dog = pet
The spasming excitement of the dog egged them on. As did the sylph-like actions of a ghost, untying ropes, slipping open rails.
laurent is an animal whisperer. that’s a personal headcanon of mine
They probably felt they had the most to lose, but in fact everyone would lose the same thing: their lives. Everyone but Jokaste. She only said, mildly, ‘Trouble at Heston’s?’
i love jokaste. spinoff please
And then he saw the pale head, and the paler white shirt, a lithe figure palming his way from tree trunk to tree trunk. ‘You’re late,’ said Damen. ‘I brought you a souvenir.’ Laurent tossed Damen an apricot. Damen could feel the quiet exultation of Laurent’s men, while the Akielons looked a little dazed. Nikandros passed Laurent his reins. ‘Is this how you do things in Vere?’ ‘You mean effectively?’ said Laurent. And swung up onto his horse.
i’m sad that this series is best known for being horny because i am infinitely more interested in laurent being a snarky action hero than i am in him having sex. and i think lots of other people would be too
Risk of laming was high
i read that as “lamen-ing” at first
Earlier, Laurent had tossed Damen his bedroll and said, ‘Unpack this,’ and Pallas had almost challenged him to a duel for the insult.
Sitting down and eating cheese casually with their King was not something that they knew how to do.
i cannot believe people in the fandom would apparently rather live in akielos than in vere. in akielos, you’re not allowed to acknowledge the humanity of people beneath your class, which as far as i can tell is determined by birth. in vere, people like jord and laurent are homies who mutually respect each other, and you can social climb your way to the high court by giving good head
Laurent strolled up to the impasse, threw himself down on the log next to Damen, and in an expressionless voice launched into the story of the brothel adventure that had earned him the blue dress, which was so unabashedly filthy it made Lazar blush, and so funny it had Pallas wiping his eyes.
i love laurent of vere
‘You smell of horse,’ said Damen. ‘It’s how I got past the dog.’ He felt a throb of happiness, and said nothing, just lay on his back and looked up at the stars. ‘It’s like old times,’ said Damen, though the truth was, he had never really had times like this.
damen are you forgetting prince’s gambit again
‘My first trip to Akielos,’ said Laurent. ‘Do you like it?’ ‘It’s like Vere, with fewer places to have a bath,’ said Laurent.
yeah i’m sure that’s not the sum of his thoughts, but he’s trying to take it easy
‘You want me wandering around the Akielon countryside naked at night?’ And then, ‘You smell just as much of horse as I do.’ ‘More,’ said Damen. He was smiling.
laurent: if you want me to get naked you’re going to have to do it too damen: bet
‘They’re Artesian. Aren’t they? From the old empire, Artes. They say it used to span both our countries.’ ‘Like the ruins at Acquitart,’ said Laurent. He didn’t say, And at Marlas. ‘My brother and I used to play there as boys. Kill all the Akielons and restore the old empire.’ ‘My father had the same idea.’ And look what happened to him. Laurent didn’t say that either.
you just know child laurent used history books and his imagination to construct a sophisticated and complex narrative for him and auguste to play-act
His pulse beat with uncharacteristic nerves, so that he felt almost shy. ‘When all this is over . . . we could take horses and stay a week in the palace.’ Since their night together in Karthas, he hadn’t dared to speak about the future. He felt Laurent holding himself carefully, and there was a strange pause. After a moment, Laurent said, softly, ‘I’d like that.’ Damen rolled onto his back again, and felt the words like happiness as he let himself look up again at the wide sweep of stars.
i think it’s sweet how nervous and awkward they are about admitting the desire to do something this simple, when they’ve had the most complicated and intensely intimate relationship i’ve ever read in fiction

Analyze chart patterns: Look for patterns within the birth chart, such as stelliums (clusters of planets in the same sign), T-squares, grand trines, or yods. Chart patterns provide valuable insights into the individual's inherent strengths, challenges, and potential life themes.
Consider planetary dignity: Explore the concept of planetary dignity, which refers to a planet's strength or weakness based on its zodiac sign placement. Planets in their own signs (domicile) or exalted positions tend to express their energy more harmoniously, while planets in their detriment or fall may face challenges in their expression.
Assess the chart's elemental balance: Examine the distribution of the four elements (fire, earth, air, and water) within the birth chart. A balanced distribution indicates a well-rounded individual, while an imbalance can reveal areas of focus or potential challenges in certain elemental energies.
Explore harmonic charts: Utilize harmonic charts to delve deeper into specific areas of life, talents, and potentials. Harmonic charts, such as the progressed chart or the Navamsa chart in Vedic astrology, provide additional layers of information and insights into various aspects of the individual's life.
Study the asteroids: Consider incorporating the asteroids into your analysis. Asteroids like Chiron, Juno, Vesta, and Pallas Athena add nuance and depth to the interpretation, revealing specific areas of healing, relationships, career, and wisdom.
Use astrology software or online resources: Take advantage of astrology software or online tools that generate detailed birth chart interpretations. These resources can provide additional insights, especially when you're just starting or need a different perspective on certain placements or aspects.
Combine astrology with other modalities: Expand your approach by integrating other modalities, such as psychology, mythology, numerology, or tarot. These complementary disciplines can offer different angles of interpretation and provide a more holistic understanding of the individual's chart.
Study famous birth charts: Analyze the birth charts of well-known individuals to gain insights into how astrological placements manifest in real-life scenarios. Studying the charts of celebrities, historical figures, or people you admire can deepen your understanding of astrology and offer practical examples of chart interpretation.
Seek mentorship or join astrology communities: Consider connecting with experienced astrologers, either through mentorship or participation in astrology communities and forums. Engaging in discussions, seeking guidance, and exchanging insights with fellow practitioners can greatly enhance your skills and broaden your perspective.
Keep learning and practicing: Astrology is a lifelong journey of learning and exploration. Continuously study astrology books, attend workshops, and engage in ongoing self-study. Regularly practice chart readings, reflect on your interpretations, and refine your techniques over time.
Remember, the interpretation of a birth chart is a deeply personal and intuitive process. As you gain knowledge and experience, trust your own unique insights and interpretations while staying open to different perspectives. The more you practice and engage with birth charts, the more refined your reading skills will become.
