idk how other ppl learn to read characters but even when someone has very few lines, if they're not a few throwaway lines and have a smidgen of thought put into them, you can really deduct a lot of things from what they say without mountains of dialogue and array of actions they take.

cIaus, even Iucas via his few lines and interactive dialogue, is so easy to understand and learn what hes about from the dialogue you are given. it shouldnt be hard to mess him up

and even tho these are more active characters in the story with goals to achieve and story beats to hit, u rly can apply the same to lngo and 3mmet. u can make assumptions or deduct possible aspects about how they act from breaking down their dialogue and possible routine. some things might be completely speculative and pulled out of thin air but as long as it matches the characters general front its hard to go wrong

Their farm is one of the few in the Connecticut River Valley that hasn’t been absorbed by the Wingates, whose holdings completely surround theirs.

The widow Margaret Wingate (Veanne Cox), whom son Orville (Will Roland) aptly describes as having eyes “as cold as death itself,” plans to absorb the Falbury farm by the simple expedient of having Orville marry Jane. After all the two kids had decided they were engaged in first grade!

Enter the prodigal younger sister Gloria (Arianna Rosario) who has been seduced by the lure of the Great White Way. She returns to the farm bringing along Joe Ross (Corbin Bleu in the Gene Kelly role), the director of the show that will make her a star, its composer Phil Filmore (Gilbert L. Bailey II), and the entire company. She has generously offered the company, which can’t afford rehearsal space in New York, the use of the family farm’s barn. [6/300] The path of a cloudy sky.

OK I watched the first two episodes of the Velma show with my wife and...

... it was mediocre? Make no mistake, there's nothing wrong with using a legacy series/formula while taking it for a spin as you go into uncharted waters with it. This is not that so far. The first two episodes basically felt so boilerplate and lacking in any pizzazz whatsoever that it just made me think everyone was on autopilot while writing this. ---- Which I know for a fact it's not true! Most writers' rooms go through insane amounts of re-writes for a single episode before a final script is ready to be taken into actual production, especially for cartoon shows! And let's not even get into the post-production process! ---- And you can absolutely tell, because some of the timing for dialogue and such seem properly punched-up and provided with some good flow! It's just that the actual contents is just not netting actual results. As some stand-up comedian has said: "The topic might seem weird but some of these jokes are strong structurally speaking!" ---- Which again, kind of a shame because Glenn Howerton and Constance Wu do have some genuine moments when I found myself chuckling somewhat and hell, even Mindy Kaling as Velma felt like she was genuinely trying... but the final result just feels so lacking. I want to give the show another shot, and I heard episodes 3 and 4 are coming out next week as a pair as well, so here's hoping the going gets good sooner rather than later.
