I would and DO! Honestly, this first batch was to fulfill a personal want but the more I drew, the more I realized I'd love to make more in the future (Arrigal especially came to mind)! So as my group progresses further in the game and meets more NPCs, I'll definitely provide more of these in the future :3

still thinking about dnd last night because like. Emily the player knew that the sorcerer was dead, like dead dead, but Tabitha the character didn’t so of course she’s going to try heal him just to get him back conscious

and yeah he’s fine, the other players revivify spell worked and he’s alive, but now I’m thinking about how I’m character, Tabitha was the first one to him the instant after it happened and how she was the one holding him and realising he was dead and telling the others he was dead so the Druid knew to even come in the first place and knowing she couldn’t do anything and how that’s gonna be a little bit traumatizing for her going forward :)

one of the questions i've been back and forth on for the last couple of years with regard to debris (my potential ttrpg setting) is whether or not to use pre-existing races.

i'm building it as dnd (whether i should look for a more suited system is a seperate problem that i'll need to deal with eventually) and as such i'm taking dnd races as standard like there are orcs and drow and ilithid etc etc.

but the setting of debris is essentially sort of a multiversal junkheap and so there's for example a bunch of mass effect aliens in here but i've called the krogans um *checks notes* kalirot without otherwise changing anything about them.

the more i think about it the sillier it seems to obfuscate that these are pre-existing races i've just put in here especially since it'll probably be pretty clear from the artwork i choose for their icons. it adds this extra mental step where the players have to learn my made up name for the species for pretty much no reason.

i think the best argument i have for keeping my fake names though is to remove expectations. for example i have a race that's based on the asari but all the implications about how they might appear differently to other species due to beauty standards of those species or whatever, all that stuff is canon to the tellari (i.e. my fake made up name for the asari).

and by having them be a different species it means if someone asks something i don't have to scramble onto mass effect wiki or whatever and look up the name of some obscure piece of krogan trivia. As arbitrary as it is a new name does denote them as a unique species so i'm not beholden to any existing bullshit i don't want to engage with.

The best answer is probably to just establish this with the players beforehand and ask them to clear any preconcieved notions of these borrowed species so that we firmly set our expectations and i don't ask them to learn any more fake made up words than is necessary.

Main fields of mistria takeaway so far is I think.... More so than maybe any other farm-sim/harvestmoon-like since like early early harvest moon- this game places a lot of love and care on its characters & their relationships. It's a town that genuinely feels like a community, the npcs all have their own interpersonal relationships completely unrelated to you.

Repeat dialogue has been so minimal & in fact i keep getting surprised by the townies like. Talking to me about things I've done like hitting certain points in the mine, delivering certain mini-quest items to other npcs, dialogue hinting to/leading up to holidays/special events. Like reacting to my presence in the town.

Like. Even the bachelors/bachelorette have such thoroughly established friendships/relationships already that even if there was a rival system, I'd really have to rack my brain about who'd be paired with who because it could go so many ways because they all act like they know eachother for real! They're not always all in the same exact friend group either like the DnD group is different from who talks in crowds together at festivals (which is also different each festival!) or who hangs out in the evenings at someone's house or who drinks together at the inn or who etc etc!! It varies day by day! Ah! I could not even begin to figure out set schedules for these character because it does genuinely seem to vary day by day so much AND evolved as you go through the year/hit new story points... my god...

steve's been knocking on doors trying to find eddie. he would be annoyed that all he's found are couples and groups in states of undress but this is some random house party, so it's what steve expects.

plus he's too relieved that he hasn't walked in on eddie being a part of any of it.

steve knows it's gross to feel this way. he trusts eddie 100%. it's not right to let past relationship problems cloud his judgement when it comes to what he has with eddie - who hasn't given him any reason to doubt.

but eddie is so new. been together for only 2 months now new.

and tommy was so old. childhood friend/fucked up situationship for 10 long years old. just ended for good a year and a half ago old.

so even though he knows, hopes, prays, that it's ridiculous to compare the two together, steve still checks the bathroom and makes sure the man on his knees in front of some blonde cheerleader isn't his boyfriend.

and then promptly ducks down to avoid a brush the blonde cheerleader throws at him.

'sorry!' steve apologizes. he hurries to slam the door closed and makes his way to the very last room at the end of the hallway.

maybe he left? eddie didn't want to serve here anyway, rich druggie clientele be damned. so even though they came together, maybe eddie had an emergency and-

steve cuts that thought off because well. he found eddie.

'baby!!' his boyfriend exclaims, alone, sitting on the floor in the middle of some random strangers room with a jar of peanut butter. he's got a spoon full of it half way up to his mouth and his eyes are red.

at least 4 brownies deep red.

the wave of relief he feels is actually pretty concerning, but steve will think about that some other time since he's too busy trying not to laugh at how ridiculous the long haird idiot looks.

'eddie, what are you doing?'

eddie looks guilty and for a split second steve thinks maybe he did walk in on eddie with someone else. (maybe he's waiting on them? maybe they already left?)

then eddie holds up the jar of peanut butter and says in the saddest voice, 'i needed it stevie, i don't remember how long it's been since i've had peanut butter. but i didn't think you'd find me! stay back! don't you come any closer!'

so this whole time while steve's been worried that eddie was off doing what tommy used to do to make him jealous, eddie just snuck off and hid away to eat peanut butter because steves' allergic.

starting to snicker, steve goes to sit across from him. 'i can be around it babe, im not gonna die.'

eddie rushes to close the jar, spoon shoved inside and all. he gives steve the stink eye. 'i know what peanut allergies can do to some people. i refuse to watch you blow up like a tomato.'

steve rolls his eyes and reaches out, acting like he's gonna touch the jar.

eddie yells. jumping to his feet, he scurries out of the closet like an over grown rat, 'steve harrington this is exactly why I was trying to eat this away from you!'

steves laughing now, giggling like a hyena. he can't believe he ever doubted this man.

later that night - after eddie has showered and brushed his teeth at least three times - when they're tucked away in eddies room under the covers, steve talks to him about his freak out. eddie apologizes for leaving him alone at a strangers party like that. he holds him close, gives steve a ton of kisses and promises to create a DND character that represents tommy.

'i'll turn him into a toad and kill him off in the most gruesome way imaginable. he'll be murdered to death, the kids will be traumatized. it'll be great. just you wait and see, my love.'
