I find this dichotomy so funny:
Odysseus, who has been in war for years and is quick to be crafty and trick his enemies: *laments and mourns giving up mercy and being forced to become the monster*
Telemachus, the one with a reputation of being small and weak with a good heart: *kills a man from behind while they’re distracted without any hesitation or remorse*
#like#granted#Telemachus does offer to spare the next ones and that backfires on him#but I’m pretty sure he did kill that first guy#and he said he wanted to fight monsters (literal and figurative) to bring light to the world#so he kept the mercy and kindness while also doubling down on the evils#like ody#I get why you went the way you did but#your son figured out how to keep both lmao#ah well#he’s home so now Telemachus can work with Athena on that kinder world she was talking about#so good for him lol#epic the musical#epic the ithaca saga#ithaca saga#telemachus#Odysseus#the odyssey#Athena

telemachus as a baby probably would have loved 2 yank on his dads beard and mustache... its usually within reach of his very short arms whenever hes being held. and his dad reacts in a way that is probably very funny 2 him.
#odysseus would get very dramatic and pretend to be greatly offended. telemachus just ASSAULTED THE KING!!! HELLO! TREASON!!!#while penelope would just roll her eyes bc she knows in like . 20 minutes hes gonna be back 2 spoiling the hell out of his son#and lo and behold. in 20 minutes odysseus has magically forgotten about how upset he was#because he went to the market and saw a toy that would be PERFECT for his son. and he has to set his anger aside. for his boy.#the odyssey#telemachus#odysseus#epic the musical#getting a little more comfortable main tagging my misc thoughts. arent you guys thrilled.#baby telemachus is on my MIND yall. i love that little guy.

Shipping EuryOdyPoliPen as the silliest polycule to ever grace this earth, Odysseus and Polites started dating first and they both had this big fat crush on Eurylochus but neither of them ever said anything.
Then Odysseus meets Penelope because he’s the king of Ithaca and needs to get married to a girl and he’s like “Woahhh what a woman she’s so smart and pretty she should murder or kiss me” but Penelope does not fall for Odysseus first, instead she sees Polites and is instantly head over heels because he’s sweet and charming and then eventually they all end up dating, I just know Penelope would fall for Odysseus because he does something massively stupid while trying to be smart and she’s like “never mind I want them both”
She and Ody get married but are both still dating Polites while having to hide it from the rest of the kingdom (it’s highly obvious and nobody cares)
And then Ctimene is about to marry Eurylochus but she is very much aware Eury is destined to become apart of the polycule, so literally on her wedding day she jokes to Odysseus about “stealing his second husband” Ctimene is our AroAce Queen though so she does not care at all, but it would catch Eury and Ody off guard so much and she would relish in that
But also thinking about Penelope had three husbands go to war and the only one who returned alive has his heart still out at sea somewhere
But yes EuryOdyPoliPen <3

epic the musical actor AU anyone
Odysseus (Lead Actor):
talented emotionally complex actor, juggling weight of being the lead while trying to be a good husband and father
he and penelope had telemachus when they were young, and his career took off shortly after, pulling away from family life
trying to reconnect with them while facing his own insecurities about being enough for them
during the scene where odysseus reunites with telemachus, the emotions hit just a wee bit too close to home, which leads to an actual breakdown
stays late a lot after rehearsals, reworking scenes, trying to be a perfectionist
Penelope (Actress)
fiercely intelligent actress, odysseus’ real life wife
balances being a mother to telemachus, acting career, and the occasional media frenzy over their relationship
while she loves odysseus a lot, struggles w the resentment of his absences
tears up during penelope’s monologue about loneliness (hits too close to home 👎)
shares quiet, intimate moments with odysseus between takes (the directors are TIREDD)
Telemachus (Actor)
a young actor breaking into the industry, cast in the musical just bcuz of his parents’ influence
determined to prove he earned his place on his own
doesn’t love being in his father’s shadow, but he looks up greatly to him
love-hate relationship with his dad
emotionally charged performance during telemachus’ ‘confrontation’ with odysseus
is more lighthearted with the rest of the cast, poking fun at odysseus’ dramatic tendencies
Eurylochus (Actor)
one of odysseus’ oldest friends, cast as his loyal (combative) right hand man.
serves as the group’s voice of reason, but his blunt honesty sometimes causes tension
uses dry humor to diffuse tension between odysseus and telemachus but privately encourages odysseus to make amends
finds himself unexpectedly emotional during luck runs out and mutiny
Polites
comedic glue holding the cast together
actually everybody’s favorite castmate
feels overlooked compared to the larger personalities around him
offers emotional support to telemachus after a tenser rehearsal
can keep his eyes open for a concerning amount of time. very good at playing dead?? actually scared his friends during the cyclops scene
Zeus (Actor)
charismatic, laid back veteran actor
mentor/dad figure
LOVES cracking dad jokes, bringing snacks to rehearsals much to athena’s embarrassment
ATHENA’S DAD STILL
incredibly approachable
competes with poseidon during press tours
Athena (Actor)
fiercely independent (still zeus’ daughter)
trying to prove herself as a director in her own right
perfectionist
cares for the cast and crew, hates showing it
sometimes teases zeus for being overbearing
lighthearted banter with zeus on set
quiet moments where she talks to hera about living up to her father’s reputation
Poseidon
zeus’ brother and self proclaimed ‘cool uncle’ of the cast
charming, mischievous
lightens the mood during long rehearsals
him and zeus = playful rivalry
leads karaoke nights occasionally
bonds with eurylochus over their mutual love of seafood and practical jokes
Hera
graceful and respected actress
unofficial ‘mom’
ready with words of wisdom
helps penelope and telemachus work through their nerves before emotional scenes
scolds zeus and poseidon for goofing off sometimes
Aphrodite
rising star in the acting world
social media sensation
glamorous and confident, but genuinely kind to everyone
posts behind the scenes and blooper reels
teaches telemachus how to handle social media fame
organizes a cast photoshoot to help everyone look their best for promotional materials
Apollo
multi-talented ‘golden boy’ of the cast
known for singing, acting, guitar solos during breaks
effortlessly charming
somewhat competitive (friendly) with ares
challenges polites to a ‘sing off’ during a wrap party, turns into a cast wide jam session
writes an original song for the cast
Ares
high energy
loves keeping everyone entertained
fiercely loyal to his crew. also dating aphrodite
playful rivalry with apollo
surprisingly good with kids
starts a nerf war on set during downtime, with the entire cast getting involved
improvised ‘is she dead’ in god games, everyone couldnt help but laugh
Antinous
charismatic, mischievous, well liked
known for polished performances
naturally confident
relationship with telemachus started through rehearsals bonding over shared family pressure
admires telemachus’ raw talent
fiercely protective of telemachus
on stage chemistry. directors hate them
Hermes
quick witted, flamboyant
hard worker (in his own. way)
flirty. flirts with half of the crew. especially odysseus and polites
never takes things too seriously
sees himself as the ‘glue’ of the cast (he is not, it's polites)
little scenarios i've been cooking up
during god games, where athena and zeus fight physically, i'm thinking one of the props go askew. athena and zeus are fighting in scene, and then one of the props from above suddenly fall, hitting athena in the head, causing panic from the rest of the crew- she's fine of course, she wasnt hit too hard, but panic ensues for everyone, esp zeus and hermes, since athena is family. (athena is zeus' daughter, hermes is athena's brother). and of course the rest of the crew like odysseus, ares, etc)
zeus’ relationship with ares in th is AU is very much like jay’s and mitchell’s from modern family
scene with the cyclops, where the 'cyclops' is supposed to kill polites, when polites is lying there on the ground with fake blood on him he makes it seem a little too real. he gets 'crushed' by the cyclops, and then he rasps out "captain" to odysseus, desperately (acting) like there is dark fake blood dripping from his head, his fake glasses are broken and then his character dies. polites can keep his eyes open for an unnaturally amount of time, and he can make them seem lifeless so after the scene is done, odysseus and eurylochus both go to hug him just to make sure he's there and fine. they cling to him for a bit. polites is very confused, but the hugs are welcome!!
#epic the musical#epic#epic odysseus#penelope epic the musical#epic penelope#epic telemachus#epic eurylochus#epic hermes#epic zeus#epic athena#epic antinous#epic ares#epic aphrodite#epic apollo#epic poseidon#i'm gonna do more characters if yall like this post :3#like circe and calypso#but if you guys have any suggestions feel free....#(wants suggestions so bad)#odypen#hermes x polites (??)#antinous x telemachus

has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...
when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)
(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)
also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question
#i made a post abt it but deleted it bc it was speculating and i don't have the game bc i don't have a pc#but i found more screenshots and now.. i think it's a VERY real possibility they're going in this direction.#circe is in this game also. so i really need to see whether odysseus has any character specific dialogue about her#hard life when you can't even play the game and are hunting down bits of story from other people#hades game tag#hades 2 spoilers#sa mention#hades 2#hades game#odysseus#penelope#i don't have any hard coping shipper brain on or anything but like. just. thinking about where his character can go given what we know#guaranteed penelope will be in this game too from how much she's brought up. we'll probably meet her on the surface#SO ITS LIKE. story wise. are we going to make a wife forgive her husband for cheating on her#or are we going to make a guy realize him being assaulted wasn't the same thing as him cheating on the love of his life#and i am heavily leaning towards the latter.#it's like if he genuinely did cheat on her and they grew apart what direction would his story go in.#how will us as the player help him in the same way we helped achilles/patroclus or orpheus/eurydice

Odysseus with his head in his wife's lap, happily not paying attention to anything, humming one of athenas song and carving something
Some random guy: your majesty----
Odysseus: not bothering to sit up: whatever my wife decided is fine.
#the odyssey#epic the musical#Odysseus#Penelope#Odypen#Post-canon my beloved#Odysseus tried to hold court exactly one time before he 1. Realized he's very out of date with everything and#2. Remembered that these meetings sucked so much#Odysseus then quickly climbed into his wife's lap and was like penelopes been ruling for 20 years she's got this#The first time someone tried to insist that it wasn't acceptable for penelope to answer ody nearly killed the guy#Nobody tried to force the issue after that#The only time odysseus sits up to contribute is to be like 'no no we can take that route now I killed the monster that lived there years ag#This is not to say he isn't listening and paying attention! He is! He's just scoping everybody's out#Noticing who's more pushy when they're trying to deal with penelope than they are with him#He's got twenty years of politics to catch up on! And he's going to be sneaky about it#Odysseus post return gaining a reputation for being uninvolved and uncaring only to pull the rug out from underneither the other person#Penelope is a okay with this for many many reasons#First off her system is one of beauty and the fact that her husband didn't spend all her hard work to take back over the second he came bac#Is rare and penelope is grateful everyday for who she married#Second she gets to show off look at how well she did odysseus look at how clever she is ody ody watch as I scam these people isn't that hot#(It is and yes of course odysseus was watching)#Penelope enjoying how odysseus lays out over her like a lazy lion#It scratches her possessive side to show him off like this and she gets to play with his hair#Telemachus attending some of these meetings to learn (tm) and spending the whole time deeply embarrassed#Odypen being 🥰🤝 rat bastards in love

Odysseus hates Agamemnon.
Of course he never lets it show. He doesn't know how long the war will last, but it will be long, and he can't afford to be on bad terms with any of the other kings (especially Agamemnon the lord of men). So Odysseus smiles at him, advises him, drinks with him like a friend... But the simple thought of killing your own child so for the sake of going to war is enough to make him sick in disgust. Behind his fake smiles he is overwhelmed by the hatred he feels whenever he faces that man.
#idk if anything is said about their personnal feelings on each other#also i genuinely cant remember what thought process led me to this hc#but i think its cool#i rly like the parallel betweem them#Ody went to war to avoid his child's death. Ag got his child killed so he can go to war#goes with my hc that Ody is a pretty chill guy until its about one of the few topics that makes him very not-so-chill#tagamemnon#odysseus#homer#trojan war#the iliad#agamemnon
