Van Gogh never used real colors.  On the contrary, he used colors that could affect the audience’s emotions.
He first used dark colors such as olive green, raw sienna and raw umber.  Then he added bright colors to the color palette of his paintings.  Colors such as yellow, orange, red, blue and green.
Tumblr media
In fact, in Van Gogh’s paintings, yellow ocher, chrome yellow, cadmium yellow, chrome orange, vermilion, Prussian blue, ultramarine, lead white, zinc white, emerald green, red lake, red ocher, raw sienna, and black can be found.
The choice of his colors depended on his mood.  Indeed, he sometimes uses complementary colors to brighten and create contrast in his painting.  Sometimes, like a sunflowers painting, he limited his palette to a color that was yellow in this example.
Tumblr media
As I said, Van Gogh, like other Dutch painters, initially used dark colors for his paintings.
Because he was curious about colors.  He read books on color theory and became acquainted with complementary colors.  He actually found that yellow and purple, blue and orange, red and green intensified each other.
So, after moving to Paris, he learned how to use colors.  Gradually, light colors replaced dark colors in his paintings.
Like the Self-portrait painting that Van Gogh painted.  Indeed, if you pay attention to it, the color of her hair, beard and mustache is orange and the color of her clothes is blue.  This is an example of the use of complementary colors.

Van gogh color symbolism
I want to start by painting Van Gogh sunflowers.  So, he painted this painting with almost no shadows or complementary colors, and the most used color is yellow.
Yellow is the color of the sun and is also a symbol of life, energy, happiness and hope.
How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun.”
Vincent Van Gogh
Van Gogh’s painting “Shoes”, in which he used a lot of brown and khaki colors.  Brown is the color of earth and wood.  It is, in fact, a symbol of virtue.  By turning these shoes brown, Van Gogh wanted to show the hard life and humility of the shoe owner.
Tumblr media
In the painting of the night cafe, according to Van Gogh himself, he wanted to depict the horrible human emotions with the two colors red and its complement green.

The work of Vincent van Gogh makes extraordinary use of the impasto technique.
The Dutch postimpressionist was famous for his bold experiments with paint. Impasto allowed him to concentrate vibrant colors and add emotion and movement to his paintings.
His painting techniques even revealed something about his mood. “Violent” moods, he wrote to his brother, required more impasto. When he felt calmer, his paint was not as thick.

Optical mixing, also known as partitive color, is the perception of color resulting from the combination of adjacent colors. In other words,  when color is mixed optically, the blending occurs perceptually, and takes place between our eyes and our brain. The perceived blending of color increases with distance.

Oh I have this interesting headcanon that Thundercracker was the Decepticon Dot Malto saved in battle leading to Megatron partially defecting to the autobots, and that's why we see Nova Storm instead of him with Skywarp and Starscream.
Whether he's a full on autobot, or a semineutral ally like Megatron is is up for debate. (I don't consider Megatron a full on autobot but not necessarily a decepticon anymore but in "alliance" territory. Also because it means Megatron isn't under Optimus's command, no matter how much GHOST treats the situation as Optimus being Megatron's "keeper")
Based on the information I have been given, I believe TC (or another decepticon but I honestly think it would make sense to be TC) was downed and Dot n her unit proceeded to take him in and get him medical help. And, Megatron seeing how Dot "showed more care to his own soldiers than he did", left the decepticons because he realized how far he has fallen. This vaguely feels less like a sudden change of spark and more like the last straw that broke the camel's back. Shockwave's Allspark shock troops idea did not help.

sometimes researching for avatar redesigns has you 6 layers deep into the Japan's Meiji era allies wiki
#im trying to mess with some of the stuff that feels weird about the ways the fire nation is depicted idk#like i do not feel optically it is good for like them to be so heavily based on japan's imperialist actions#while dressed in clothes that come from places japan colonized#but i dont want it to just be solely japanese though i did draw zuko and azula in hakama but its largely cause i wanted to draw hakama#and like the only place with strong japanese influence being kiyoshi island and my own frustration with the modern day samurai depiction#i think fundamentally it isnt a choice that had as much thought as i am putting in put into it but it does raise an eyebrow for me#anyway i think keeping the thai influence is fine despite the brief invasion japan had into thailand due to thailand then allying with japa#and further allying with the axis due to allying with japan#ugh and ive been told not to think this much about it because its fiction but its also fiction so so so heavily based on real places#and when you base fiction on real cultures you fall into some unintentional pitfalls#i also fucking hate the royal fire nation robes they look so meh and the most costumey out of everything in the show#they look like heavy blankets despite being a supposedly hot nation#theres ways to have heavy robes (heian era japan) but they look like i make them out of fleece and velvet blankets#back to kiyoshi island i think the really only aesthetically japanese reference in the show being an island of noble warriors is lame#plus over done#it feels like nowadays theres a lot of people who get all whiney about people saying fire nation is based off japan#but like dude the creators in the comics and korra like go even more into the japanese influence and clearly it was the original intentions#also i do think you could do some pretty interesting world building by having say there be an older cultural influence on kiyoshi island#from the fire nation especially if the place is established as a central port area then you tie in some okinawan or even hawaiian reference#and gives an explanation that makes sense to why kiyoshi stands out from the rest of the earth kingdom you have long term cultural trading#and it establishes interesting relationships even pre kiyoshi time thereby drawing back onto some real historic references#cause for awhile ryukyu china and japan used to be this trading triangle which could explain some of these various influences going on#i think you can get a really interesting harmony when you create the fire nation out of a mix of japan and thailand#i mean both have these floating buildings due to living on some pretty wet lands and theres harmony in that mix#god i did see one person go like “fire nation is more based on china because theres a lot of red and red is important in china”#my brother in christ red is also important in japan#red is important in like many many asian cultures#i mean of course a lot of that importance stems from china and cultural exchange with china but idk kinda silly to say with your whole ches#like if you want to bring china in then the dragons are the biggest thing like sure some mythos has dragons in japan#but a lot of those comes from china in some way

im watching earthspark for the first time and what dwells within is easily the best episode so far. minimal human interactions yes but especially because like. what if a teenager with the very real trauma of an adult taking over their autonomy became friends with a guy who’s suffered years of abuse from someone who presents himself as a good guy to everyone else. what if these characters had to fight to survive something that isolates and become the only person willing to stand up for the other. what if the pain you cant get others to understand is in fact understood by the person you’d least expect.

a fun(?) fact about siya is that their burn scars on their face and forearms are from scarlet! they were living in lion’s arch when she first attacked and were pulled out of the wreckage of their apartment by the lionguard. they’re incredibly lucky to have survived, all things considered, because it was not looking good for them.
they also have scarlet’s rattle from the miasma damage to their respiratory system, which is one of my favorite little details of worldbuilding.

‘Warning’
“If you wear that necklace to sleep,
you’ll see The Devil in your dreams”
~
An actual (very) off-putting conversation I had with one of my friends when I was 8 at most after getting a Pentagram necklace for Halloween.
~
I guess it stuck with me

Particle errors: Quantifying the effects of simulation mixing state on aerosol optical properties
Particles in the atmosphere affect global climate. For example, the black carbon from burning fossil fuels absorbs and radiates light and heat. To calculate the effects of aerosols on climate, scientists rely on simulated aerosol fields. How these models represent aerosol mixing state potentially introduces large uncertainties into climate calculations. This is because the simulated aerosol optical properties—how particles absorb and scatter light—are sensitive to mixing state. Mixing state refers to how various properties are distributed across the particles in the air.
In a new study published in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, researchers have systematically quantified the effect of aerosol mixing state on aerosol optical properties. To do so, they used an ensemble of 1,800 aerosol populations from different particle-resolved simulations. These complex simulations operate on the scale of single particles.
Investigating the impacts of aerosol mixing state on aerosol optical properties is important for both modeling and experimental studies. This new paper approaches this topic by using particle-resolved simulations as a benchmark. It applies this benchmark to determine the error in optical properties when using simplified aerosol representations. These simplified representations are common in state-of-the-art aerosol models. The researchers disentangled the causes for biases in the prediction of optical properties that are introduced by assuming that particles mix within prescribed size bins. Some of these errors are large enough to warrant caution when calculating how particles directly affect climate.

Dont get me wrong
I love Nausicaa and the post apocalyptic sci fi setting is great
But looking at the concept art makes me wish we got the steampunk medieval fantasy setting with giant metal bird aircraft as well

what are your thoughts on 3D? bc i'm happy jungkook's having fun/doing what he wants of course and i totally support him, but seven/3D haven't been exactly my cup of tea which is a shame cause i really really love the solo work he's written and produced in the past (like still with you). i'm curious to hear what you think!
it’s catchy and the dance seems fun but tbh it’s not my thing. I wasn’t a big fan of JH before the feature and I’m even less of a fan now. idk mostly I’m just hoping JK has the chance to work on some stuff he wrote or produced directly instead of other producers’ commercial bops

can't believe I just spent three hours watching a movie about masculine anxiety in the nuclear family model, told through cartoon alien tribes wearing Mãori tattoos
#I dont know man I just dont vibe with these films. they're so weird to me for some reason#it's the mix of heavyhanded metaphorizing from a convoluted white savior pov with just the most uninteresting possible stories told within#and what beefs me the most is how good the cinematic grammar and dramatic sense is. like the execution is so good#not just technically (which was also great) but also on the storytelling ABCs level. pretty close to perfect#the structural edit wonked it a bit and dialogue wasn't always up to snuff#but generally speaking storycraft was firing on all cylinders yet telling the most uninteresting possible story imaginable. weird movies#both of them honestly. just weird#can't gel with them at all. and I NEVER forgive these insane runtimes either#I am heretically opposed to 3hr slogs. especially for something as simple as this. i hate doing mental structural re-edits while watching#but with movies like this it is impossible not to. just weird man#and the whole environmentalist angle is like fine whatever but the aboriginal aliens are such a clunky plot device#very very weird and sketchy and the optics are just all over. not for me to semiotically call this out i guess but leaves a very strange#taste nevertheless#and again technically it's just an utter magic trick and almost transcendent at times. but that is all momentsry candy without#meaningful story holding it together. just a guy being a dad except they're cartoons in space and also indigenous and super heteronormative#so fucking weird. and man you could feel james horner's absence so keenly#no longer a musical rhythm guiding the edit. other way around now. always a loss when this happens imo#it just felt like such an american dad family dynamics in this opposing context of an alien tribe#they were five minutes away from having back of the van arguments. all the 'bros' were insufferable#and dont get me started on the fucking sequelbaiting. sigourney weaver and the general and the weird dreadlocks guy all were#essentially just setting up sequel hooks and that was so grating in a movie already so long. eugh#anyway that was my review thanks for reading#text
