Favourite fishman island Sanji moments

It was extremely disappointing to see a beautiful complex character like sanji getting reduced to his reaction towards women. But at some point he reverts back to his old self and These are some of the things i loved the most about sanji during the fishman island arc :

(1) My favourite chivalrous knight in shining armor spitting fire as usual

(2) After the annoying exhausting excruciating nosebleed episodes, this is where sanji was back to his flirty loser boy personality and was immediately saying cringe pickup lines and preparing tea for the ladies

(3) This one gotta be one of my most favorite moments where Sanji again proved how intelligent and perceptive he is. He could guess who attacked hatchi, and why so, from hatchi's reactions to jinbe's words alone. He is sensitive to people's moods and reactions.

(4) the enemy understanding why sanji is so hyperaware of nami in the battlefield. He has always had the streak of looking out for the comparatively weaker crewmates

(5) Sanji coming through during the hitching between jinbe and Luffy. Even though Luffy's way of communication is IMMA BEAT HORDY UP and jinbe was trying to protect Luffy, that's when sanji piped in and explained his captain's words, working as the mediator in the chaotic conversation

(6) People say sanji was being condescending to jinbe here but I see this interaction as a "best friend who gets angry on your behalf" moment. Sanji is not a shrewd person but he was there in Arlong park to witness nami's sufferings, so it's normal for a friend to get angry(ier) at the person who may be the reason for the pain of ur friend. (Similar to how sometimes when we hate our friend's exes more than they do) But when nami said she was okay, Sanji didn't drag the issue anymore. Sanji was rightfully angry here but he knew when to step back

(7) This may be silly but Sanji really respects whatever food or drink is served and never wastes food ofc. I loved how he genuinely appreciated Camie's cold soup even if he was already cold from drowning in the sea. Even if sanji is a top notch cook, he immediately reassured camie that the soup is good and graciously accepted it. He's always humble, sweet and kind.

I don’t have any real preferred endgame ships for Daring. I like Darabella more than the average tumblr EAH account and I love Dizzie but in a very different way than most shippers, I think.

Whenever I’m in my comfort place (my post canon extension based on Athena-xox’s amazing timeline (all time fave post. Truly an amazing accomplishment)) I like imagining that Daring will consciously decide to stay single and NOT mingle for a while, until he has come to terms with certain things. And I like imagining that Rosabella will be there for him, but rather as a friend with some unacted romantic chemistry. I want to believe that everything that happened since Legacy Day, culminating in his abrupt change of imagined destiny will trigger a more pensive side of him. And here’s when Lizzie comes. I want him to slowly become aware of how much he hurt her, even when it was never his intention.

I know this is a franchise made to sell dolls at tweens so it’s weird to get this dark about it, but let’s do this for the sake of my fantasies.

I feel like Daring has been hypersexualised and objectified through most of his life. His place as the most Charming of all the Charmings has turned him into a figure of lust and of status even before he was really aware of what those words meant.

The hypersexualisation can be seen through the recurrent jokes about girls fawning over him, following him, his dashing smile, and I honestly feel like Sparrow’s dare that lead to the entire thing with Lizzies was also based on that etc., etc., etc.,

When it comes to the objectification I think Duchess obsession with him is a good example. In NTV it becomes clear that she is not truly in love with him and when he scorns her she even daydreams about being the one able to reject him. Daring is not much of a real person to her. He is a symbol. He is the best of princes who saves his Princess and gets the two to live happily ever after. Everything that Duchess longs for and is denied.

To a lesser extent I also think that Ravens reaction to him (apparently) writing her a love poem could also be an example of this. Even if she has never been interested in Daring and has actually described her type as his opposite she still takes this as an accomplishment of some way.

Just to clarify: by no means do I blame neither Duchess nor Raven for this. They aren’t really at fault. This is more of a societal issue.

So, as he now realises all this things about his life, I want him to remember Lizzie. In my Sparchess heart the two are talking and Sparrow asks him about that one date Daring & Duchess had and after that a rush of unprocessed memories come at Daring and he can’t stop thinking about what he did to Lizzie for at least a week.

I want him to stay up away at night and cringe at himself wondering if an actual apology would be welcomed or not. It would make him feel better, sure, but is it Lizzie or his guilt conscience whom he wants to console? I want him to remember things about Lizzie that he otherwise didn’t think of very often. I want him to suddenly tell all of this to Rosabella only for her to feel disappointed and conflicted. I want Lizzie to catch him looking at her during lunch with a strangely contemplative expression and to turn away in apparent apathy only for her to be weirdly sad for the rest of the day and remember how isolated and betrayed she felt not only by Daring but also by Duchess.

It's The 5 Seconds of Summer Show!

so. I've been reading some posts on the jedi order tag AND i won't talk about my opinion on "are jedi good or bad discourse" BUT i wanna point out some lore to everyone who's complaining about the jedi taking kids into their order: (in the EU) it wasn't always like this.

if you take swtor era (more than 3000 years before the prequels) there were many jedi who joined at an older age. like, for example there was a guy who broke his engagement to become one. most jedi remember their families because they were old enough when they decided to go.

THEN in darth bane's book trilogy (circa 1000 yesrs before the prequels) there is a passage where two sith lords are talking about taking bane, already an adult, to study at korriban. one doubted him because he was too old, ans the other told him he sounded like a jedi, and that ONE DAY jedi will have to accept only kids into their ranks if they really want to find "pure" people that can learn their lessons quicker.

one day!! so it wasn't always like that!! the ongoing wars with the sith, who corrupted and killed many of them, had pressured them into taking always younger people into their ranks.

also, consider a thing that this video explains super well: training to become a jedi is not like exercising, because there is a transformative lesson at the end of the training that changes everything. you can't just do as much as you can, but not finish.

the transformative lesson, as the video explains, is that through the force, everything is the same - from rocks and ships to life and death. at the end of the training you have to understand this fundamental truth.

yoda says "you have to unlearn what you have learned". during times where they were constantly killed off or corrupted by the dark side (and if you haven't learned this lesson you are more susceptible to this corrupting), younger people were taken in to actually finish their training (a training that was ultimately about being a good person AND that you could leave at any point if you weren't sold on that, too)

(remember that for the sith failure = death. like. that was the alternative for force sensitive kids. it's not like sith had any moral problem with taking kids away without consent. sith don't have moral problems: they believe that them being stronger in the force means they can do whatever they want as long as their strong enough to go and do it. there are MANY passages in many different star wars stories, even in different mediums, that say this out loud)

AND (this is more of a critical thought than just stating the lore) the fact that they started doing it out of necessity doesn't mean it's 100% good BUT you know. the whole set up of the prequels is that we're starting off the story in a period of crisis and decadence all around. most of the systems of the times were about to fall. OF COURSE they had problems. if they didn't, we wouldn't have the story to begin with.

that doesn't automatically mean jedi = bad and sith are better, tho. you wouldn't take the last, chaotic and decadent period to jugde something, would you? it's like deciding that the athenian democracy sucked because people at the times of Demosthenes failed at recognizing the new schemes in which the world was evolving into, and still believed that their city would be important as it had been in the previous century. They just didn't fucking expect the Macedons would conquer half the world known and more, and have the subsequent political power. Still, their experiences in the 5th century with democracy were very good, even better than ours on many fronts, if you contextualize a little. the jedi had flaws, and most importantly, they didn't fucking know the future and everything that ever happened, ever, so they made mistakes. that doesn't automatically make the system ill, or bad, or not-working. systems can have setbacks when the world changes. (just like athenian democracy had one when they lost the empire that was funding the democracy. they even had a tyranny for a while and then fixed the problems. that doesn't diminish retrospectively their democracy)

nowhere does the movie ever imply that belle wants to bang adam when he’s a beast. you guys NEED to be able to separate romantic feelings and sexual feelings. i know they go hand in hand for a lot of you but sometimes they don’t and that’s okay. i’m just exhausted by people calling belle a furry. it has never made sense to me and it never will. why is it so hard to imagine that she just simply loved him? do you truly not think it’s possible to love someone without wanting to have sex with them?

furthermore, and this always seems to be the crux of the problem, why do you think adam would have sex with her in his beastly form? adam knows he’s not supposed to be this way. he knows he’s truly human. and there is almost a 100% chance that he has told belle stories that clearly imply he was once human. you guys know they had conversations… right? you don’t think adam once said “i haven’t read this since i was a boy” or “i liked that author in school” or anything else to very clearly imply that oh yeah by the way, he’s a cursed human being. you don’t think she eventually figured it out? you think that belle, known curious problem solver, did not ever figure out that this beast and his talking furniture were all actually humans?? YOU KNOW THEY ALL TALKED TO EACH OTHER… RIGHT?

it always stems back to people wanting adam to remain a beast. or, rather, somehow, forgetting he wasn’t born a beast. thinking he’s just always been a beast. and is fine that way. when in reality he’s very imprisoned in his body. and no matter how comfortable belle begins to make him feel in his own skin, this is not the body he wants to have. he wants to be free. he wants to be human again - now more than ever!! there’s someone here now who he has fallen in love with!! don’t you think he became positively desperate to be human again? to have a chance at being a human with her??

i’m not saying it’s impossible for either of them to have had sexual thoughts about each other before the curse lifted. but what i’m saying is that i don’t think belle wanted to fuck him as a beast. and i don’t think adam wanted to fuck her as a beast. because they both knew this is not his real body, nor a body he was happy in. i think they were very much in love with each other, as in love as any romantic couple has ever been, but i just genuinely cannot imagine why either of them would seek sexual pleasure in the state adam was in. hell, take belle out of it, why would ADAM want to do that with her? he doesn’t LIKE the form he is in. he DESPISES his own body. and he knows what it is to be human. so just let him be human, for fuck’s sake.
