las plagas, but
it's more or less just brainwashing with a parasite, rather than the parasite gaining a body that doesn't belong to it. not a mindless drone...
this allows for an infected leon au that allows him to be saved lISTEN-
it's still a cult-like mindset, except the person is still in there. the plaga causes the person to just develop an undying loyalty that switches them like a light when it comes to defending the cause...
also consider: peeta from the hunger games, where he was permanently brainwashed into hating katniss and had to relearn trust/the truth over time instead of an instant cure.
#resident evil garbage lol#me not fully remembering the og lore/not knowing the rewritten lore#me highly tempted to develop an au where leon falls to the plaga/ashley is saved + is brought home#it's quite a challenge to sit his ass down and therapy him lmfao#plus the whole 'how do we kill the parasite without killing leon' thing#unless the device works on him but the plaga just altered his memories/brain chem so he's stuck in a violent/culty mindset....#ashley has survivor's guilt and is traumatized over eveything + how close she was to falling herself.......#watching her rescuer fall like that...... oof good angst#but needs a happy ending/bittersweet one

you asked for free labor and i OBLIGE! there’s nothing more i love than hearing people talk about their drs: anything simple from morning routine, to life altering moment, to happiest moment, literally anything you’d like 🎀 lol i’m a sucker for a good story
Oof I completely missed your ask.
Anyways I'm happy to share :)
I'm not sure what I could possibly share in my morning routine, it's the same as any other person's DR. Wake up, get a kiss from my SO, eat breakfast which has always been porridge, i find it more convenient, then I change into my work uniform (yes, I wear a uniform to work) and then go to work.
I think it's just better to just do a random storytime, I have a very mushy brain at the current moment so my mind is replaying a single memory so-
I was in college and my best friend (who's my SO now) forced me to go a concert with him, it was a pretty big celebrity in my reality, and so I knew there was going to be a crowd.
I was too hesitant because I didn't even know a single song from that artist, second, I didn't want to be pushed around, and the main reason was I had dinner with my dad (Btw I love him, best dad ever)
So after adjusting my schedule, I arrived at the concert with my soon-to-be SO.
All I did during the concert was stand stone faced in the middle of the crowd, we were standing pretty close to the stage. Long story short I ended up being pushed by this very eager fangirl into the stage, and ended up getting a small cut on my wrist from the edge of the stage.
I left to hopefully locate a restroom, it was a very local concert literally held at our college. So I entered the washroom and stopped my bleeding cut. After a while I thought there was no better place to find peace away from the crowd than in the restroom, meaning I got distracted and took out my phone and read world affairs for a good 20 minutes.
After a while some guy comes in, so I put the phone back and faced him, he was the singer who was performing, at this point in my life this had been my first time being this close to a celebrity, but did it mean much to me? no.
What I was more confused about what this 2 year post graduate celebrity guy just walked into the college restroom which students use, without a care of security risks.
I asked him what he was doing here, he told me that "What? Even famous people have to go."
I realised this was getting awkward, so I reworded my question, telling him that this is the restroom students use, I tried to prove my point I pointed towards an area of the wall where random swear words and suggestive drawings were made with a sharpie, only to find they had been covered with some sort of weird medical tape.
I cleared my throat, before he tells me that this is the VIP restroom he had been escorted to.
Sure enough, outside there was a paper stuck to the door and a big VIP was written on it.
Basically they converted the restroom on the campus into a VIP restroom only for one day.
And I managed to sneak in, idk there was no one guarding the restroom so that makes it even more funny.
He asked me if i wanted an autograph to which my politics clouded mind responded with a big fat blunt no.
But then I remembered it would give me some brownie points if I bring back an autograph to the guy I was trying to win over, who, at that time was a pretty decent fan of this celebrity (also, there is nothing special to this celebrity just because I haven't mentioned his name, his name was Jimmy, and he looked like jimmy Nuetron) so after a while I told him that, I, infant would like an autograph.
I had nothing on which I could get a signature on, in my pocket was just one blood socked tissue paper.
And so I got it signed.
...
I got out and like a psychopath handed over the bloody signed tissue to my soon to be SO who was more worried since he thought I got lost somewhere, since the concert ended a while ago.
...
He still has that tissue paper. It's has a sentimental value in our relationship.

Oof do I hope our detective gets the chance to talk to N, even if not in a romance route with them, about a supernatural entity singing their praises about how perfect they are - before forcefully, agonisingly altering them on a fundamental level, in a way that they don’t understand and resulted in them accidentally causing harm.
I suspect N may have some very relevant thoughts and memories about going through something like that, after all….

Philza Malewife Competition Round 5
Previous rounds: Cleaning. Cooking. Decorating. Karens. Current points: The Lambs Wolves Wear (2), Lighting Lanterns Philza (1), Weight in Gold (1), everyone else (0).
For a quick synopsis for the fics I’m referencing- those are here
Next round: Helping out their poor sick kid :(
and....uh...this one lost our family friendly rating. Oops?

Lord what fools these mortals be!: Is that a stomach bug? He'll fix them right up! Usually Lady Death is in charge of fixing their children, of course, but if given permission he's more than happy to help!Ripping the offending organ out of his child's belly is so easy with his big sharp claws (courtesy of his wonderful Lady!!). Next to craft a new stomach out of ice and shadow, shove it back in, lace mortal flesh together, and voila! Now their stomach will be perfect. It'll have to be, if they are to survive the Fae Wilds :)
Where do Babies Come From?: Has the classic plastic bag covering a kids trash can for all your vomit needs! It's a spider-man trash can too. Plus some cough drops (the tasty citrus kind) and sprite and medicine from going to the Emergency Room. He's offered to pick up anything from the local gas station that the kid wants, set them up with lots of pillows and netflix...but Philza does still have to go to work. Especially after he got the ER bill. Doesn't let the kid see it, of course, but...oof. He's going to have to put in a lot of overtime to catch up from this.
Lighting lanterns to bring you home: A swift cut, and the sacrificial lamb is lain on the alter. Philza knows all the prayers and rituals across the horizon in both directions. Afterward he cleans the knife off slowly. The gods will cure the kid's illness, if they know what's good for them. And if not...well. Technoblade can just bring the kid back with him when he returns from Hell in the Spring. And give him the tea on how Lady Death is entertaining her new surge of godly company.
The Lambs Wolves Wear: There's no medicine. Not really. He knows a few soothing herbs, but not much more than that. The journey into town is too long and hard, might just make it worse. And even then, he can't afford real medicine. So Philza coats the room in trinkets, in rings of salt and straw dolls and crimson ribbons. Holy words smudged on the kid's palms with leftover dye from the wool. And Philza waits, and hold the kid's hand through the long, long night. He falls asleep at the bedside still praying. He shivers slightly, in his sleep, haunted with the memory of holding Technoblade's hand as illness stole his last breath.
Worth far more than your weight in gold: Birb doesn't understand germ theory. He doesn't know what medicine is. All he can do is tuck the sick child under wings to make sure they are soft and warm and dry. Luckily unlike the humanoid Philza's, this Phil is less likely to catch the illness due to the species barrier, and is very safe to snuggle with. But there isn't much more he can do, and since he lives in a nest there isn't much protection from the elements. He's worried, and feels useless. Would eating a dead squirrel fix it?
Fault: As an immortal that's made it to modern day, this Philza knows every remedy under the sun, and offers a combination of home remedies he foraged by hand and ground up into medicine with a mortar and pestle, AS WELL AS medicine Wil stole from the store. Plus some honey from Tubbo for that cough, and it goes well with the herbal tea he made. During chills, he also makes for the best blanket ever, the fire in his chest warm and hot as he cradles the kid close. This Philza by far knows the most about healthcare. But also if the kid needs cheering up (and their humor falls in this area), Philza will also teasingly threaten to use leeches to balance their humors.
Mandatory Family Reunion: Philza has a policy of cancelling all plans the moment one of his children is sick so that he can be at their side the entire time. Reading familiar bedtime stories, spoon feeding food, attending to their every whim and then some. Unlike all other Philza's this one offers luxury S-tier pillows, every single streaming service and video game ever made, and has world-class doctors attending to every cough this kid makes. Honestly the Queen of England didn't have this good a deathbed. Now...for transparency's sake, I must establish has MFR Techno been bedridden 3 times because Philza induced illness in him (Roofies (accident; mixed bad with meds/concussion); Bedridden with every vaccine ever (intentional, but for crying out loud this kid doesn't have protection against chicken pox!); Tranquilizer/chemical pacifier (so Techno would stop trying to attack him)). But that wasn't necessarily so he could have a placid Techno too weak to resist dotting, just an appreciated side effect. The kid in question probably wasn't mildly poisoned...
Golden Apples (Gilded Atrophy): Philza tosses over some regen potions and a golden carrot for saturation. That's about the best he can do. Unless the kid wants to be killed so they can respawn at a non-sick save point? Philza has a sleeping potion and a sword if that's the case. They wouldn't feel a thing and would be good as new in two minutes tops. Eh? No? Suit yourself. Tubbo, personally, can attest to both the terror and the effectiveness of his respawn surgeries, but hopefully it won't come to that...
#did i project american medical system trauma onto babies!Phil#okay and#bite me#also man fantesy aus are depressing they got no meds and no hope#Lambs and Weight in Gold back to back is just sad :(#but also it's not in character if Lambs isn't thinking about the child he literally watched die of Plague#mcyt#dsmp#sbi au#technoblade#philza#fault au#sbi#sleepy bois inc#philza fanart#tommyinnit#mcyt fanart#tw gore#tw animal death#tw roofies#tw death#dangit these polls were so chill but then the 'watch your child slowly die' round hit....who coulda seen this coming#me#an angst writer#writing angst#something to nom on

I was giggling, kicking my feet, rolling around—all the good stuff, while reading your yandere self-aware Arthur concept.
(You inspire me to write sm.)
So I have a few questions about the au.
Would Arthur be able to avoid getting TB since he can control the game? Or what if he has already gotten TB when he gets more self-aware... does that mean he can just glitch the TB out??? Does this technically make Arthur god? 😭
Like I am sure there are limits to what he can do. It just makes it interesting.
Like if the player replays it does he lose all his memories? Does he get a strange sense of deja-vu?
If John could take over the game... or try to since Arthur kind of took it—does that mean that there could be some kind of fight? Or if there is a copy of RDR1 he makes sure the future version of himself becomes self-aware so that that version of John can get darling first?
I am sure Jack would have some feelings. Like Ik Jack is just a little kid in RDR2 but if you have a copy of both games then I imagine he'd have some choice thoughts (words and actions as well).
Imagine yandere self-aware adult Jack slips into RDR2 to coach little him about winning the player's favor by being cute and adorable. (No one can resist lil Jack.) So then when you play as older him you already feel a sense of connection with him.
Or the entirety of the Van der Linde gang being self-aware to different extents and just being confused and not knowing what to do. Like Dutch may be able to see and hear the player. But someone like Sean may just get a weird sense that his fate is being determined and that Arthur is just kinda... weird sometimes.
I have A LOT of thoughts abt this au for some reason.
You don't have to answer all my questions or anything. They're just thoughts. And get to this ask or don't get to it. No rush. :)
Oof... Happy you enjoyed it because I remember enjoying writing it!
Now, in terms of questions....
He could avoid it if he can alter code, yeah. Not sure if he can glitch it out though.... Arthur WOULD technically be a god within his digital world.
When you replay the game, he experiences deja vu or 'bad dreams'. When he's more aware he learns the truth though.
In theory, maybe Arthur and John would fight? Those two have always had a rivalry anyways. As for the RDR1 copy, yeah, John may be happier he has you in at least one game.
I'm unsure if Jack fully understands his aware feelings when he's young. He'd be more likely to experience them in both epilogues I think?
The ENTIRETY of them is such a cool idea. Arthur, John, and Jack are the most likely candidates for being self aware. Yet NPCs are not entirely out of the picture. I do feel they'd comprehend you to different degrees unless they can alter code. Which is mostly unlikely if there's already a self aware character in charge.
Wow... Talking about this DOES make me want to discuss it more. I hope these answers suffice :)

Fic Snip - Timeless Academia
“They never existed in Japan.” Izuku added. “Pretty much every pro hero that’s registered in Japan’s records has a Quirk. Believe me, I checked.”
“Well...then that just means you’d have to become the first one!” Dustin tried to suggest. “Y’know, like Batman! Or Iron Man!”
To which Izuku heavily sighed, holding up a hand as he counted off of his fingers. “One, both Batman and Iron Man were rich and could afford to make all of the gadgets they had. Meanwhile, my dad had to work overseas just to support me and my mom. Two, I’m not that smart. Certainly not smart enough to make a car out of spare parts or discover a new element to the periodic table.” he listed off. “And three...you haven’t read the comics lately, have you Dustin?” he questioned.
“I...no, why?” he wondered.
“They retconned them into having Quirks. Batman has a Quirk that heightens his intelligence and gives him perfect photographic memory, while Iron Man is a technopath that can control the devices he makes as if they’re extensions of his body.” Izuku revealed. “Also, the serum that gave Captain America his powers was changed to only awaken his latent Quirk, Green Arrow got a Quirk that let him alter the direction of his arrows mid-flight, and Hawkeye got one that heightened his vision at the cost of reducing his hearing.”
“That’s bullshit!” Dustin cried. “I mean, what the fuck, man?! Why would you take away the few Quirkless heroes we’ve got?! I thought they just invented that shit for the movies!”
“It’s probably just because of marketing.” Izuku answered with a sad shake of his head. “To better appeal to other readers. Though, yeah, it was really disappointing to see…”

Audiodrama Sunday 04/28/24
So much stuff this week! I think this is going to be my longest writeup yet!
@camlannpod what the fuck? Trying to avoid spoilers, but the ending of that episode was wild. The sound design for the last scene was so good. Also “You're good with an axe, right?” was brutal, I audibly said "oof". Only 1 more episode in the season, hopefully they get funding for a second one.
The first episode of @wanderersjournalpod came out this week. This was a promising start to a new show, I'm excited to see where it goes from here. The setting feels very mystical, I can't wait to learn more about the world.
@worldsbeyondpod was so tense. Suvi and Ame had the most awkward conversation in existence. This story has so much nuance, neither of them are clearly in the right, though I feel inclined to take Ame's side due to the "Geas + Alter Memory" double espionage scheme. Meanwhile Ursulon discovers that Orima of the Reaching Green is a short queen and gets a cool horse.
I'm now up to date with @lostterminal. Season 15 was great. I love Nia, and Daphne and Raffi were really interesting new characters. Also, the dragon was terrifying. This show doesn't usually have very much action, so the confrontation with it really stood out. The description of the automatic turret going "click, click" as it locked on to Maddie was so intimidating.
@worldgonewrongpod I loved this episode. The storytelling felt so natural and real, like someone telling me a story about a weird road trip they went on. I think I said this about the last episode too, but this was my favorite episode yet. It also sets up the backstory which was never really explained as to why Jamie and Malik are separated at all.
In @midstpodcast we finally had a nicer episode. No horrible fucked up Weep/Trust stuff happening, just Lark reunited with Zeila and Sherman. However, there's so much tension between these characters. I was surprised that Lark forgave Sherman for selling her out. Something to remember is that Lark and Sherman had been hooking up before everything went to shit, which was mentioned once and I think really changes their relationship.
New @keepitsteadypod! This is the first new episode of this show since I started doing these. This was a really cute episode. For how popular fake dating is as a trope in fandom spaces, you don't see a lot of it in audiodramas.
Fun episode of Mission Rejected this week. It was cool to see Bowden go from "vain actor" to "badass spy" when the stakes ramped up. We don't get to see him take charge very often, it was neat for him to be a competent leader. I wonder if the gang lying to Zelda(who definitely saw through it) and Chet(who probably didn't) is foreshadowing for more of a conflict with the new Secretary of Defense later in the season. Also I loved the squabbling gay couple running an illegal mining operation as the villains of the week.
@breakerwhiskey episode 200 wow. A letter from Harry! We learned that Harry has been listening to most of Whiskey's broadcasts, which recontextualizes a lot of the previous episodes. Also, the end was heartbreaking.
I started season 2 of @longcatmedia's Mockery Manor! I'm 2 episodes in and really like it so far. JJ and Bettie are employed in different parks, JJ is on the run from an organized crime ring, and Bettie became a monk? Also, it's clear that neither Hilda nor Jenkins stole the shipment, neither of them have motive. But I don't know who else would have motive either. Lots of mysteries this season.
Spout Lore had a great planning episode. I'm excited for the "saving Highspear" arc, the Highspear is so cool as a concept. A reverse Tower of Babel, that lets the whole world talk with each other. A literal monument to wizard hubris, which feels destined to fall. However I doubt it will, because, as the players mentioned, it would be really annoying from a storytelling perspective if everyone suddenly spoke different languages. This has actually made me realize I really want a story set shortly after some sort of "fall of the Tower of Babel", where communication is a struggle, but that's just because I think linguistics is cool. Anyways, the buffet talk had me rolling.
What a great week! However, it did not help my queue, which continues to grow instead of get smaller. I'll reach the end of it one day.

thoroughly enjoyed the chapter, getting a good time table on events I thought It was linear but him jump around makes it interesting. Interesting choice in making vector as a vehicle of being all knowing instead of Primus and wow all the problems could have been resolved if they kept cool with the Frieda and Grisha situation. Wonder what the what if for that. Primus being inspired by both grisha and armin was a nice touch.
also this chapter being a solution for the repeated ‘ask’ you get like Optimus 2.0 form and shockwave disappear. Like ha! Made it to lore! Deal with it
Over all looking forward to the end
Chapter 98
I figured that I'd use this chapter to answer some of the questions that people have been asking me for years.
But this chapter was also fun because it allowed me to expand upon my own interpretations of Primus and the Primes. How they act, how they handle and respond to certain situations. I knew that I wanted to write this OVA out of sequence, making Primus go out of order in these memories because it's a new environment, he just woke up, etc.
And Primus is still an all-knowing deity, but in the OVA, I wanted to emphasize how Primus valued unity, cooperation, and kindness. If he wanted to, he could just do everything himself. He has the power to, especially since he and Unicron come from the same entity, but he values the input of his creation and teamwork because he believes that different minds and different people can lead to more progress. Not to mention, Vector has been isolating himself in his own pocket dimension, monitoring the flow of time and making alterations wherever they need to be. Of course he would have more knowledge compared to the other Primes. Compared to Primus? Maybe because he was out for a good portion of the war.
That doesn't mean that Primus isn't without flaws, as he and the other Primes let their anger get to the best of them and inadvertently cause Grisha to kill the royal family. So oof.
In regards to the conversation between Armin and Primus, and Armin's ultimate influence on Primus, was something that I've had planned for a while. I've brought it up in conversation with @justawannabearchaeologist and @echoblaze5 that out of all the AOT cast, Armin would be the one who is the most qualified to be a Prime. And I knew that it had to be Armin that called out Primus for his own failings and ideology. It was the only one that made sense. All the others snapped at Primus because of their hatred for him, or because they were backed into a corner. Armin did it because he genuinely believed in the world that he was fighting for. Armin, who's been compared to Orion Pax. Armin, who's somehow managed to influence Megatron to become a better person. Armin, who despite seeing the cruelty of the world, still believes that there can be peace. Armin, who despite seeing the destruction of the Rumbling, still believes in a sight beyond the hell.
Because no matter how many times Armin has stared darkness in the face, he didn't blink. He didn't waiver. He didn't buckle. He still continued to push forward to find a better future. Armin chooses to rise above his station and become more while also considering the freewill of others. It is Armin's words and Primus' willingness to listen that allow for Primus to take such a drastic leap and integrate himself into Cybertronian society.
Grisha's role is more indirect if anything. Primus saw how much Grisha had changed and applauded him for it. He regrets letting his emotions get the better of him and causing Grisha to kill that family, and makes it up to him by granting him a moment with Zeke. But Primus has seen Grisha's memories and how he's helped the Walls through medicine, never once using his knowledge to kill but to help, while trying to complete the mission of the Jaegerists. Grisha gives Primus a solution as to how he can help his children without causing damage to their free will.
It was still very fun to write the OVA, and I'm glad I was able to get to it.

Stargate rewatch: 2x04 - The Gamekeeper
"Where there's a garden, there's snakes." Jack coming in with the pessimism, but it's a nice Goa'uld metaphor.
Oh hey, Daniel has allergies again!
This is a Jonathan Glassner episode (with Brad Wright sharing the story credit), directed by Martin Wood.
Time to get strapped into the Trauma Chair!
Jack finds himself back in East Germany, 1982 on a failed mission, Teal'c finds himself with hair.
And Kawalsky is here! I love it when they bring back Kawalsky, it's a shame he doesn't get much to do.
Jack thinks the chairs were a time machine, Teal'c concedes it's possible - park that plot until the end of the season, boys.
Meanwhile Sam and Daniel are at the New York Museum of Art (I assume the Met?) wearing outfits that I unironically love. I'd totally wear that hoodie. Sam's skirt and boots are also a vibe.
Note the spiral device on the door behind them that signifies the exit (although they don't know it). I couldn't see a designated exit in the scene with Jack and Teal'c though.
Daniel says he's been to the museum "many times" which is pretty dark since that's where his parent's died.
When Daniel brushes off the museum employee who tells them the exhibit isn't open she just smiles and walks away - she doesn't get paid enough to care, lol.
Daniel's parents are Claire and Melburn Jackson (the latter will show up again next season as Seth), who are tragically squished by a big block of stone that they were standing under instead of beside for some reason. To her credit, Claire is worried that the slab is swinging but Melburn assures her it's okay - oof.
Jack's attempts to change the outcome of the mission and the Keeper reveals himself. It's Dwight Schultz (Murdoch in The A-Team and Barclay in Star Trek: Next Gen) doing a good job despite his ridiculous hat.
Some of us don't need fancy tech to replay the terrible moments of our lives over and over again - our brains handle that just fine (well certainly not fine…you know what I mean).
Jack decides to sit this one out, while Daniel makes some ineffectual efforts to coax his parents out from underneath the swinging slab of squish. Irreverence aside, it is kind of horrifying to think that Daniel actually witnessed his parents die as a young child - it's not stated here, but a later episode reveals he was eight years old.
Ultimately, they discover that no matter what they do they can't change their history, which could actually be some helpful therapy (and isn't a worlds away from prolonged exposure treatment for PTSD) - but the Keeper isn't trying to help them, and it begs the question of if they had explored all the options, whether he would have eventually allowed them to succeed in changing the events - otherwise where would the satisfaction for the residents?
Aw, his parents call him Danny.
Also, Daniel's eye condition seems to be genetic. Or I've finally cracked the case and his eyesight isn't that bad, but he wears his glasses most of the time anyway to feel closer to his parents - he went into the same profession after all.
It's interesting that the Keeper doesn't choose more recent traumas of Jack and Daniel's lives that they both feel a huge amount of guilt for and wish they could change - Charlie's death and the abduction of Sha're. Perhaps those events are too raw for the Keeper to extract entertainment value from.
Or perhaps those memories are less accessible because the trauma is so fresh - these are events that drive Jack and Daniel and the Keeper wants them trapped, not remind them of why they’re fighting. The failed mission where Jack’s commander died and the death of Daniel’s parents are foundational memories, but they’re not directly relevant to their lives on SG-1 and so safer for the Keeper to have them explore.
Just look at this hat!
The Keeper reveals he was unable to access Teal'c or Sam's minds - the first indication that Sam's physiology has been altered following her possession by Jolinar.
We have the classic fake release from the virtual reality, but not before we have a briefing scene where we're two for two with Daniel wearing his glasses on his head and being the only person drinking coffee.
Daniel also wants to go back and free the residents, he’s fully team Interference now. This week Jack’s team Not Our Problem.
"General without meaning (this time) to sound like a smartass, are you cracked?" LOL
Jack smelt a rat from the beginning, but it's when fake!Hammond mentions him having the chance to see his son that he knows it’s all a lie. George would absolutely never say that.
I have to admit, the idea of being able to project yourself into not only any memory, but anywhere you can imagine is kind of appealing - kind of like a Holodeck. It's the never leaving - and being kept against your will - that's the issue.
We're getting into Matrix territory here with virtual world vs real world, two years before that film was released (although of course it was hardly the first to deal with constructed realities). Would you be happy in a simulation where you could go anywhere and do anything you could imagine, even if it wasn’t “real”? Honestly, maybe, but after 1000 years you’d want to go out and see the flowers.
Daniel puts his glasses back on in the middle of the conversation with the residents for no discernible reason, and I know I'm hung up on this, but as someone who generally tries to make sense of things on a Watsonian level (even if accepting that some things only have a Doylist reason) I can't help but be distracted by it.
"Haven't you people missed me at all?" I have!
The Keeper running around still steepling his fingers is kinda hilarious.
Bye Trauma Chair, see you - inexplicably - in season 8.
And Daniel's glasses are back on his head, I give up.
"YOU ARE RUINING THE GARDEN!" The Keeper's indigence at the residents picking the flowers, lol. I love it when an actor just commits to a role.
Ultimately this is an episode about control - Jack and Daniel have no control over what happened in the past, they have to accept it no matter how they might wonder if things could have gone differently. The Keeper has valid reasons for fearing the residents may destroy the world like they did before and therefore wanting to keep them contained in the virtual world, but that’s not his choice to make, and he must cede their free will to nurture or destroy.

I was suddenly intensely compelled to draw Simon as a Pokémon trainer so this exists now d(•w• ).
I initially was going to make him a Dark type trainer since Dark is super effective against Ghost and most of what he hunts would fall under that I guess, also a lot of his designs have some similar color schemes as other Dark type things, BUT I realized that, surprisingly, Ghost actually fits wayyyyyy better. Ghost is also super effective against Ghost (I have always found this funny lol) and has both more Pokémon that make sense character wise as well as moves like “Curse”. Mimikyu’s whole thing is that it looks up to and wants to be just as adored as Pikachu and idk I think Simon would kinda vibe with that a lot. Also the whole Litwick line and like ya know Castlevania games and their candles, the chandeliers, it just fits. Simon’s Quest also has the Mysterious Woman who appears with the mist in a graveyard and may or may not be a ghost who helps Simon so that tracks too. He also just seems like he’d spend a lot of time hangin around in a cemetery idk how to explain that.
His design is mostly just an altered Simon’s Quest outfit, but I added elements of his other designs to it like bits of red in his hair, the cape from the manual drawings (and the smash bros teaser I guess lol), the fur and boots from Ayami’s design, a ripped skirt thing like the smash bros design (I’m sure other designs have had something similar too I just can’t think about which rn), the armband thingys and the headband from his NES cover and X68000 designs, etc etc. I imagine that he’d probably have the cape down most of the time and come off as a more brown focused design (I didn’t color them all the way cause I didn’t wanna get all my colored pencils out oof) and say things that kinda mislead the player into thinking he’s maybe a Fighting type trainer or something. Then when actually battling him he pushes the cape back and oh wow big reveal!
Yeah idk, this was fun tho. Maybe I’ll draw some other Belmonts as trainers too eventually, I have some ideas already hmmm. Also it is so so hard to remember what I have and have not posted here, especially since I know I’ve posted this elsewhere so I keep feeling like I’ve already written all of this before 。(゚´ω`゚)゚。. So if I’ve already posted something please tell me, my memory sucks most of the time and I’d greatly appreciate that!

Man, imagine being in Ilmo's shoes before, during and beyond the events of AW2. From an early age he was probably aware of the dangers of the Lake. But it must've taken a few additional years before he knew how to fight those dangers. Later on, you watch as your hometown slowly dies out so once you have the knowledge and tools and a budget, you begin venturing into various businesses to keep the town you know and love afloat. Together with your brother who's been by your side since birth. You make friends and connections along the way. People you care about. The other bikers of the Kalevala Knights, your colleagues, the cult members who were mainly people from town as well. You make some silly commercials with your brother who is partially reluctant but if things come down to it, he 100% supports you. At one point, some external government group begins investigating your town and the area and you manage to steal some of their confidential files. Again, you take matters into your own hands to protect the town and its people. Even if it means you willingly become a "villain", a boogeyman. And you're pretty good at protecting the place. Even if it hurts and you have to desensitize yourself from killing Taken. (There must've been Taken that Ilmo and the Cult knew). Despite everything, things still look pretty good, especially with the OOP in your hands. But then the FBI suddenly knocks on your door and your memories become muddy and altered without you knowing. But you still try to continue your work, now while actively trying not to get Saga involved or in danger. But you keep losing more and more people, friends. The Coffee World employees all seem to be young and I guess most of them became Taken in the end. Your one chance to end it all (to your limited knowledge) is abruptly taken away and you end up defenseless in jail. More Cult members, people you know and worked with for a long time, all brutally wiped out while you couldn't do anything to protect them. But at least you still have your brother, right? Wrong. For once, you wish he would remain his usual calm self, didn't lash out but he did and now he paid the price. You're left alone in that jail for God knows how long while your brother's body is just out of reach. You don't even have time to process or properly mourn because the town is still in danger. The nightmare is still not over. And then you have to confess to your misunderstood actions while standing next to Jaakko's now covered body. You still try to fight, even if you've lost so much already. And before you know it, you're swooped into another perverted reality where Jaakko is still dead and now you have to promote the author responsible for all this death and misery in your town.
Like oof, Ilmo rly lost it all huh. It's a surprise he kept on kicking and living and remain so energetic
#it's peak sad ilmo hours Jaakko#my ramblings#my posts#jaakko koskela#ilmo koskela#alan wake 2 spoilers#the longer I think about Ilmo and Jaakko the sadder it gets at points#my meta

Throwaway line asking about a psychology/psychiatry etc relevant fields:
How does Cybertron handle mental problems? There's a medical corps, a science guild afaik
What's your own handle on bots that study/analyse the psyche of other bots?
I mean, this is a society that regularly lobotomizes it's citizens for stepping out of line lol. They'll alter someone's memories and sense of self at the dorp of a hat, or remove their ability to experience certain emotions. Realistically, I don't think Cybertron has shit for mental health services. Their singular crisis hotline is just 2 people desperately trying to juggle 400 calls and three jobs just so they can keep the public comm line open.
HOWEVER. That's not fun and also really fucking depressing, so I'm gonna retcon it a bit and say Cybertron has a functional government that actually takes care of its citizens for the sake of this conversation. Lol
Since you specifically mentioned mecha that study psyches and mental health... oof. That could be a really slippery slope, but generally, if you get a good a doctor, they can completely transform your life. Literally. Say someone is clinically depressed: their body just constantly makes an overabundance of Misery Chemicals, overstimulating the negative emotional cores and leaving them in an endless haze of hopelessness. There's a number of ways that can be treated on Cybertron, up to and including having your doctor write personal correctice code that's adapted just for you. Having it integrated into your processor, it would replicate and spread, correcting your body's chemical productions long term. Making code like that is an extremely lengthy, delicate process that can take years, but getting the right one can mean a life free of depression--forever.
Or perhaps a patient with severe PTSD: they struggle to go outside, to talk to anyone, to let anyone close, they have auditory hallucinations and intense spells of paranoia. A specialist may be able to work with them over time, to get into their head and pick through the worst of the memories that torment them. They can pause, rewind, replay, zoom in, anything they want to the patient's memory files without hurting them, examining the circumstances that lead to their condition today. They can help them to work through it, they can experience it together, and that by itself is such a huge help, to face their demons in real time with someone there to protect them. Sometimes, menmosurgery is even approved in extreme cases, making them forget the worst moment of their life so they can actually move forward and continue living.
Cortical psychic patches might even be helpful in some cases, the doctor entering into a patient's mind to explore exactly what they're struggling with, especially if they struggle to verbalize their symptoms or causes.
I could keep rambling but i think this hits my main points. Was this entertaining for you? Is this what you wanted? Its 4 a.m. and i cant tell if this is any good lmfao. Feel free to follow up if there's smthn specific you had in mind that I didnt touch on

You know one thing I love about Seofon alter/other/ whatever we eventually end up calling him is the fact we get to see what character traits of Seofon carry over between worlds
For Example Seofon's pride :
???: "My name is... Hm. I forgot what I was called during my mortal days. You may refer to me as a god."
This is his introduction to Seofon during his fate episode and it's pretty similar to how he introduces himself to evil Six Dragons during the Anniversary Event
But one thing to notice is the fact that his ingame title is "The Sword Saint of the Sea of Stars" and his fight title during the the event is called "The Apostle of the Sea of Stars".
AnoSeofon isn't a god at all he's just follows in the footsteps of one. He's immensely cocky for good reasons of course, but yet is still unable to get or be who he wants to be which is why he's bitterness incarnate.
yup! he's very prideful no matter what... little lion... 🦁 i've thought about that line a lot actually, and how there's a few ways to interpret it... don't mind if i ramble a bit here!
1.) he's truly forgotten his name, and by extension, what he once was. we don't know how time flows in the boundary... what could be a minute there could be many years in reality, or it could be a split second... but regardless, time does flow differently there for sure (it's where all timelines converge, so...). how that impacts a human body (no matter how tough seofon is), is also an unknown, but i would imagine that it's pretty stressful! i imagine your mind deteriorates with all that... which is pretty angsty.... oof. alternate seofon does not have it good! and that's before we even get to the fact his world fell apart (as well as everyone he ever had a chance of loving/caring for). in his third birthday message to captian, he forgets who they are, but he is somewhat aware of them... it takes him a good second before he goes "sorry. not really interested in you or the world!" so... i think... memories are fickle in the sea of stars. i could get into how tapping into the boundary and bringing out captain's Most Powerful Potential Self in MSQ also nearly erased them from existence. but point is - the boundary has some nasty side effects for messing with/residing within it. fun!
2.) he was toying with our seofon. being haughty if you will. he knows who he is, but he won't tell seofon (or rather, 4th wall break, THE VIEWER! DUN DUN DUN!!!!)... alternate seofon's thing is being a tormenting force to our seofon. which is lovely. or horrible. who knows! but yeah, he totally could be trying to just frighten and/or tick off our seofon. "i'm you. you're me. i don't need to say any more. you know this." kind of deal.
3.) some sort of combination of the above (forgetting, AND wanting to upset our seofon).
4.) "what are your pronouns" "no, they aren't :) don't refer to me" kind of vibes... this one is a joke for the record. had to throw it in there because i've said this before in a similar discussion.
back to the topic at hand though. claiming to be a god is real bold. especially considering what gods mean in the world of granblue fantasy. it's reserved for bahamut, and... whatever else is equivalent to him (staring deeply at the moon... what were they cooking?). deities exist. godlike being exists. primals exist (of course). but... God. with a big G, is a very special thing in granblue. alternate seofon is not that. nope. not even close. sadly. as cool as it'd be.
let's take a closer look at saint + apostle real quick.
a saint is a person, keyword being PERSON AKA HUMAN with holy attributes applied to them. usually recognised by a church or higher authority. so in this case it would be whatever "sits beyond the boundary" (food for thought. it's called the sea of stars aka the boundary aka estalucia aka... the holy SEAT of genesis sooo you get it? seat? what sits beyond the boundary? makes sense to me!)
⬆ this has been my trophy since and you's first run. Hehe.
also mentioned here.
an apostle is someone who was sent on a mission, usually holy. that's the literal definition. and we see in and you that alternate seofon believes himself to be on a mission to purge the world and create a new one. whether that's of his own will or someone else's... hard to tell! since he's nearly one with with it anyway.
(i want to know who the first apostle was, also. so badly. Dying to know cygames, please contact me via email)
but... he isn't 100% fully it. it's just an almost... which leads into your point of him "still unable to get or be who he wants to be" aka not being a God... ^7^
which is. really sad actually, all things considered. throwing this line from alternate seofon's fate episode as well, this time from Our seofon!
yikes... even when he's happy, TRULY HAPPY, he still is tied down.
some other lines to throw out there. that make me die inside.
predetermined destiny and struggling against the current. doesn't seem good. seems bad things are bound to always happen to seofon. seems... he can never truly be true to himself. guy doomed by fate itself. i want to know why so bad. poor bug.
tl;dr i need to explode. always. my apologies for this ramble...? chew on it. or don't. appreciate your ask and input a lot. :]
#seofon thoughts#<- new tagged dropped#because i talk a lot about him. too much#was this ask over my osdd post. if so laughing over my silly image causing this. deeply personal iykyk kind of thing but hey#it sparked a good convo. so.

actually sorry to be back at this again but i did have slightly more to say about tim and jason (see last post i reblogged)

that post does a lot of analysis that i enjoyed re: their read on what tim is dream hallucinating jason saying re: his own death and i had a couple thoughts i wanted 2 add to that. tldr they r saying that this is wayy more about tim than it is about jason and i super agree. i said something about jason's line saying he killed himself in my tim post from last week, but it was kinda reductive, where i said basically yeah that sure sounds like like a way bruce might describe it!! but i don't really think that's the whole story - my more genuine nuanced take on that is a little more like: it sounds an awful lot like what a scared kid might imagine that bruce saying about what happened to a robin who fucks up, i.e., not something bruce said about jason but something tim is afraid bruce would say (or think) about tim if tim went the same way as jason
being a martyr and a cautionary tale and a failure - his own or bruce's - are all stacked up on top of each other w/ jason, and tim just kind of. has all that. to deal with. the linked post gets way into how tim is reacting to his mom's death, which is so so interesting to me, bc tim is clearly soo scared of his grief disqualifying him from everything else he wants and feels like he needs to do. he's scared he won't be able to be robin bc bruce sees him compromised by his grief, so he's got to grieve Just Right, at the same time that he's basically trying to take on bruce's grief for jason. the kid is in the poster house for Grief Alters Your Life In Ways You Can't Control and he's still trying to grieve correctly. oof.
and back to tim's relationship to jason post-jason's death, it's so interesting in every direction, but specifically a big thing to me is that on some level jason is not real. like he is, obviously, but tim didn't meet him and he's never going to. he's not dick, a man tim can remember as a child and whose apartment he can break into as a slightly older child. he's not bruce, a guy whose basement tim can end up standing in if he tries hard enough. he doesn't! exist! you don't get to meet dead men! jason doesn't need to be pinned down as tim's hero or tim's fear or tim's resentment, bc the most important thing is that he's just a story. he's just an idea.
and then, of course, what do u do when the idea puts a knife to your throat. or puts on bright yellow tights to beat u up in front of your friends. things get really silly!! quoting my own tags on the first linked post just to have them here as well:
#i think constantly constantly about the car crash disaster of #all the things ppl did in their grief after jason died and then #jason comes back. and sees things he was never meant to see #and it's specifically sooo interesting for the ppl who got caught up in the grief but never even met jason #tim looking at the memorial case #cass sitting at jason's grave on his birthday with bruce #like wtf is jason supposed to do w all that grief from ppl he doesnt know for a person he only sort of was #and on the flip side! wtf r the ppl who grieved a story supposed to do when the story walks up to them! #and in some cases. walks up to them holding a knife. #anyway just thinkin
#just saying things about tim and jason once again#i could probably write a whole post about cass at jason's grave too but that's. a whole other kettle of fish#talking tag#sorry for stream of consciousness typing up my thoughts#anyway#tim drake#jason todd#oh god also x3 there's the whole issue where batman fear gas hallucinates jason and almost kills tim#idk how relevant that is but im thinking about like#the times tim puts himself in jason's shoes on purpose#the times he tries his ass off to be in some other shoes entirely#and the times someone else hallucinates him into jason's shoes and almost beats him to death
