Yeah, anyway, friendly reminder that the OP is an alt-right account that made this post to incite the fanbase against Lauren and the show. The headline itself is misleading clickbait that was also meant to incite the fanbase against Lauren and the show. In the original article by Vulture, Lauren states that Henry Cavill was annoying because he was bugging her for the role before scripts had even been written yet (Henry Cavill had not even read the books when he was doing this, btw) and Henry Cavill himself said that he was being annoying.

Also, friendly reminder that Henry Cavill massively over-exaggerated how much of a fan he was of the franchise and how much he knew about it. He hadn't even read the books when he first sought out the role because he thought they were based off the video games, he didn't learn otherwise and even read the books until Lauren told him about them — and he only read the series once back in 2018 right before he was cast, and he's only really played the third game — which he hasn't even played the DLC for.

Also, by his own admission, he didn't actually do any research or preparation for the role at all.

“I asked my agent to put me on the spot and wanted to meet Lauren as soon as possible. I didn’t even need to prepare specially for the role. Because I breathe, I experience this universe every day. I’ve already had many opportunities to think about this character when I was playing the game. My preparation was already done before the casting even began!”

Henry Cavill also started the whole narrative about how important adhering to the source material is to him and how much he pushed for a more book accurate, verbose Geralt in the press for S2 in order to deflect from how he was the one who cut Geralt's lines in S1 in the first place, making his characterization inaccurate to the books. He also lied about the whole thing and tried to act like Geralt was never originally written as being as verbose as he is in the books when he was, he blamed Geralt's lack of dialogue on Yennefer and Ciri's prominence, and he tried to act like the lines he was cutting weren't that important anyway so it didn't really matter that he was cutting them.

Henry Cavill also created that whole narrative about how important the source material is to him as if Lauren's vision of the show was somehow in opposition to the books because he was actually just mad that that he was co-lead with two women and that the show revolves around women so much. (Just fyi for anyone who doesn't know, but Ciri is the main character of the main book series which the show started adapting from S2 onwards and women are central, key figures in the books to the point where the story could not exist without them.)

Henry Cavill was also directly responsible for, or at least had some hand in, a lot of the changes from the books. He cut Geralt's lines, as I've already said.

By his own admission, he didn't want to play Geralt and Jaskier's friendship as being as friendly as they are in the books. So, really, any kind of positivity about Geralt and Jaskier's relationship should solely be attributed to Joey and his performance, tbqfh, as he was the only one actually doing anything in their scenes.

Which even Henry Cavill himself basically admitted, js.

“Joey did all the work, I just had to take the right look and… we had a ready-made 'comedy.’”

Henry Cavill also cut a sex scene between Geralt and Yennefer in S2 because he didn't think it'd be in character of them to have sex after reuniting (it would've been, btw), he nixed the idea of Geralt and Triss even just platonically finding comfort in each other in S2 even though that happens in the books, and due to him not wanting to play Geralt struggling with fatherhood in any way in S2 nor with any character flaws and only positive character traits (because he was overcompensating for how he fucked up Geralt's characterization in S1) that led to the domino effect of Eskel's death, Yennefer's betrayal, and Voleth Meir being the big bad of the season.

The knock on the doors resounded loudly in an almost empty house. You were brought back from the book you were reading to reality in lighting speed. Your head bopped up quickly, and you took a deep breath in, steadying your raising emotions.

You haven't seen Daryl for the whole day. He was avoiding you, that much was clear. Whenever he saw you outside, he made sure to go a different way or just turned around to never cross paths with you. He even changed the shifts of supply run so he wasn't anywhere near you. It made you feel awkward, but you also knew he needed some time.

Your mind was a hundred percent sure he went to see Leah last night. He figured it out at Aaron's birthday party and decided to take care of it as soon as possible. Whatever he saw up there, it was clear that he knew and want going to let what happened to you slide.

When you got home after Aaron's party, you made your way to your bedroom and changed into pyjamas, but couldn't sleep. "Okay," you mutter and nod, letting him inside, smelling the usual scent of pine and sweat when he passes by you.

Once the doors are closed, both of you head to the living room and sit down on the couch. Your heart is beating fast, and you fiddle with your fingers, waiting for him to speak up. All this time, he was avoiding your eyes and, frankly, you were quite grateful for that. You had no idea what you'd do if he was looking straight at you right about now.

A few more minutes pass until he finally speaks. "I know who did all those things to you," he says lowly.

"Oh?" You pretend not to know anything about it, trying to force the words out of him.

"Leah," he spits out. "It was Leah."

Another painfully long few minutes pass by, and you gulp when, battling your thoughts.

Should I tell him? How is he going to react?

You sigh deeply and you nod. "I know."

His head swings up, and he looks at you, his eyebrow raised in question. His palms land on his knees, and he pulls himself up to stand, starting to pace around the living room.

"You knew?" His words sounded annoyed, almost angry.

"Yeah."

"And didn't tell me why?"

"Because she was your girlfriend once," you begin to explain. "Wouldn't look weird if I started blaming the one person that I always disliked?"

"No, it-"

"Would you believe me if I told you?"

There's a long pause, and he stops pacing, stopping right in front of you. He sits down on the coffee table and takes your hands into his, sending a jolt of electricity through you, and you try your best to ignore it. He looks into your eyes, trying to figure something out.

"Yes. I would," he speaks up. "After the way she treated me, I think I'd believe anything I hear about her."

"But you understand why I didn't want to risk it, right?"

He accepts it with a silent nod and brushes his lips against your knuckles, which makes you panic internally, but you manage a smile. You sit there for a moment more before he makes a comment about your hair being too greasy and needing to hose you down to clean you. You retorted a short "says you" and suddenly everything was a bit lighter.

But you knew you weren't going to be able to fully relax until you knew what he's done.

"Daryl?"

"Yeah?"

"What did you do to Leah?"

He sucks in a breath and you brace yourself to hear the worst case scenario. Your mind is screaming at you. He killed her. He killed her. He killed her. "She's fine," he says slowly. "I just gave her a piece of my mind, that's all."

"I guess she didn't take it well."

"She begged me to take her back."

"I'm not even sure if I ever loved her," he huffs.

Your eyes dart to him, and he's clearly avoiding your gaze. You look away quickly. All these months ago, when you had that argument, he was so convinced that he loved Leah. He said it pretty clearly back then. Was adamant even. Now, he's saying that he doesn't know if he actually had any feelings for her? If there were no feelings, was the entire argument pointless?

No, don't go there. You argued because of your feelings. Not his.

Looking back at him, you realise that he's been lost in thought too. He stared at the wall, his hand loosely on his lap, and the other one was propping his head on the armrest. You poke his side, pulling him out of his thoughts.

"What are you thinking about?" You ask quietly.

He looks hesitant to share. "I'm thinking that I have no idea how real love feels like."

You wanted to say something, but you were at a loss for words. Your mouth opened and closed many times, but not a single thing came out. Your mind was in overload, thinking about all the ways you could show him what a real love looks like. From gentle kisses to talking about the darkest things possible, you could show him what it feels like to be loved this second if it wasn't for a fact that you swore you wouldn't go there any more. He's your best friend, and you weren't going to risk your friendship ever again.

You take a deep breath, finally finding your voice when a roar of a truck is heard by the both of you. There is a harsh slam of the doors and you can hear Deanna screaming for help. Daryl stands up immediately and you follow. Running to the gates, your heart was beating really hard. It felt like it was about to jump out of your chest. Those type of screams, the blood curdling, toes curling screams, never meant anything good, so you prepared yourself for the worst.

And the worst it was. Spencer hanging off of Deanna's shoulder, bloody and drenched in sweat. His shirt half open, ripped in many places. His boots undone and dusty. His hair disheveled, the usual curls gone and replaced by straight strings clinging to his sweaty forehead. His eyes barely opened like he was about to pass out. A huge, bleeding gash on his shoulder.

Bitten.

"We were gathering garden supplies," Deanna tries to explain, her voice urgent and slightly high pitched. "A group of them attacked us. Spencer told me to stay back… oh, God!"

Your arm snakes around Spencer immediately and Daryl does the same on the other side, taking over from Deanna. You carry him inside Deanna's house and plop him on he couch. You can see he blood staining the cream fabric of it, creating an uneven circle bit by bit. Spencer's mother kneeled next to him, holding his hand, crying quietly and whispering that everything will be okay.

Taking a step back, you lean against the wall, watching the scene. It was hard to watch, knowing what's going to happen next. Sure, Spencer wasn't the best person and had a mentality of a selfish and unreliable person, but it was still somebody's son, brother, life partner. And witnessing Pete slitting Reg's throat and then Rick executing him, you only could imagine what Deanna was feeling right now. Losing your entire family in such short time has to sting a bit, but that is then world you live in now.

You never know what lurks around the corner.

After a few hours, Spencer finally takes his last breath and Deanna insists on piercing his head on her own. Reluctantly, you give her your knife and put a hand on her shoulder to offer support. Spencer's body already started to decompose and it was a matter of time until he wakes up and becomes an undead corpse. You hated this part of the process. As if a person dying isn't enough…

"Goodbye, baby," you hear Deanna say a bit breaks your heart.

She slid the knife into Spencer's head carefully and then left it there. Placing a kiss on her son's forehead, she stood up and looked at Daryl and you. Her eyes were puffy and red, and her lips were pressed into a thin line to stop it from quivering. Her arms straight at her sides, body taut like a string of a bow. She was clearly trying to compose herself.

"You know what to do."

You look over to Daryl and he nods understandingly. He pushes closer to Spencer's body and removes your knife from his head. He gives it back to you, and then slings Spencer over his shoulder and mutters about following him. You do so without question and so does Deanna.

Alexandria has fallen quiet when you came out of the house, the only sound you could hear was sniffling and your footsteps. People came out of their own houses and places of work to spectate and some even joined you. Making your way to the cemetery, the only thing you could think of was your own family and how hard it was to lose them over years.

Once you arrive at the cemetery, Daryl gently put down Spencer's body and grabbed a shovel. Some residents offered help and they all started to dig. Your role in all this was offering comfort, company and support to Deanna. You stood by her, your arm around her shoulders, squeezing gently as she cried and mumbled some unintelligible things.

You stand there for awhile, Deanna was now praying with her head down and eyes closed. She mumbled to her deceased husband, to God, to heavens, trying to guarantee a place of Spencer in there. She was aware he wasn't a perfect person, but he deserved peace after death.

Finally we hear Daryl's voice. "It's ready."

With the help of some people, he lowers Spencer's body into the freshly dug grave and grabs the shovel. He offers it to Deanna to give her a chance to say the final goodbye. She takes it and gets some dirt onto it, throwing it onto Spencer's body. She muttered weak and sniffly goodbye and then gave the shovel back to Daryl.

"I'll help," you say, picking up the shovel.

"No," Daryl protests in a serious tone. "She needs you more."

You look over to Deanna and release that it may be the truth. She looked broken. She stopped crying now and her eyes were empty. Her body seated on the bench was frail and all while she tried to hug herself to protect herself from the pain.

You make your way to Deanna and sit next to her. When she speaks, her voice is weak and quiet.

"Our family was always together. We used to spend every Christmas and Thanksgiving as a family. Spencer and Pete drove all the way to us every single time."

"That sounds nice," you say and smile gently.

"It was horrible. Spencer always found something to argue about and Pete was always drinking way too much," she huffed a quiet laugh. "Every time we ended the holidays on a wrong note, but still they always came back. Because family is important, even if you don't get along."

You nod at her words, agreeing. Your family wasn't perfect either but it was family. It was difficult at times, with everybody having different perspectives on everything. But thinking about it, you wouldn't want it any other way.

Deanna asked you to stay until the grave was done and you did, silently offering support and a shoulder to cry on. She talked a lot more about her family, sharing more anecdotes and stories. You could tell that it was helping her cope so you listened.

After the grave is a gentle heap, Daryl announces to Deanna that it's all finished and she just gently nods. Standing up, she walks over to the grave and kneels at the bottom of it. Her head hangs low.

"I'd like to be alone with my son now," she says.

You nod and gently push the crowd of people away, leaving Deanna alone. Looking back one more time, you see her taking a rosary out of her pocket and starting to pray. Even in the times where the world is filled with undead walking, she still believes there's something, someone out there. Leaving the cemetery, you heard someone saying Spencer was a dickhead anyway.

You look at the male that said it. He was in his twenties.

"Have some respect," you spew out. "Maybe Spencer wasn't the best person, but he was still a human. And a part of this community. So spare the comments like these and maybe think about how would you feel if someone said that about you at your funeral."

The man looks at you and his cheeks burn with embarrassment. He opens his mouth to say something else but the words never come out so you leave. At that moment you felt a little bit triumphant. Your eyes scan the street, trying to find Daryl, but he was nowhere to be seen. Deciding he probably went home, you choose to go back home. You try to process everything what happened, hands stuffed deep into your pockets.

When you reach your house, Daryl is sat on your porch with a bottle of liquor.

Being apart of 2ne1 was a dream come true. Your group was at the top of the charts and so was your name along with a very famous rapper professionally named G Dragon, aka Kwon Jiyong. The two of you were Korea’s most infamous couple, everyone, including your own band members, swore you were endgame. They came up with ship names, there were constant edits of you guys, life was great.

Or at least until it wasn’t. Life does what it does and gets in the way, conflicting schedules meant not seeing each other nearly enough and personal affairs became a hindrance. Then there were rumors about both of you cheating on each other, which wasn’t true, but YG wasn’t a fan of the negative controversy so then they weighed in putting pressure on both of you and it all just became too much.

The day it happened you knew it was coming, but you still didn’t want to accept it. You and Ji had been sitting at the kitchen table, having the same old conversation. But that night it was different.

“I just don’t think we can do it anymore, y/n,” his voice was quiet. It was breaking both of you.

“With the pressure of the label, never seeing you,” he trails off as he feels the tears in his eyes.

“Tell me you don’t love me,” you stand up off your chair and walk over to him looking down and moving his face to where he has to look at yours.

“You’re never going to guess who’s here tonight,” she whispers.

“Who,” Minzy asks.

“Ji-yong,” she smiles big and the girls go silent for a moment.

“Does she know?” Bom asks nervously. CL just shakes her head. You back in the room seeing them huddled and you raise a brow.

“What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” they say in unison; the way you know they’re hiding something from you but you can’t prove it.

“Mhm, well I go on in 2 minutes so,” you motion them to leave so you can grab your mic and race off to the side of the stage. The lights go down and you get into place hearing the roar of the crowd as your silhouette is shown behind a screen.

During the last song before the small break your band gets, you see him. There in the 3rd row from the stage. His hair brightly colored and hard to miss. He’s giving you a proud, satisfied smile. You freeze for a moment before getting back into the groove of the dance moves. You flit your glance to him throughout the rest of the song. When your band leaves the stage you address the audience.

“You guys having a good time?” they all cheer and you smile.

“Awesome, Awesome!” You begin to walk around.

“Can you sing, You’re the One?” You look in the direction of the voice you hear.

“What was that?”

“You’re the One, can you sing it? The song with G Dragon,” she smiles wide. Your eyes go wide for a half second before you compose yourself.

“Uh,” you half laugh, “Yeah I don’t, I don’t see why not,” your eye go to where he was sitting but he’s gone. You feel relief crash over you, until a stage hand comes over to pull you off stage for a second.

“Whats up,” you say as your eyes land on the familiar man from the crowd. You both stare at each other for a moment, really taking it in.

“You want to do it, together? Like old times?” he ask shyly. Your heart starts beat faster.

“If you’re up for it,” you give him a warm and inviting smile despite the current anxiety you’re in. You notice behind him that CL is standing there watching you and you realize that this was what they were hiding. You slightly frown at her and she gives you two thumbs up.

You walk out on stage, “Ok, well I have a surprise guest for everyone, including myself,” you laugh into the mic.

“Everyone, please help me welcome, the one, the only, infamous G-Dragon!” you shout into the mic as the crowd goes crazy. He steps out confident as ever and stands beside you.

“Let’s do it,” he says cooly. The song begins and you both move to the beat, you raise the mic to your lips to sing the lyrics and he’s staring at you intensely. That familiar pull he once had on you, the one you swore was gone, is back. You want to feel his hands around your waist, his lips back on yours and the way he smells, you never want the smell to leave you again. He beings singing his part and his mind is going crazy along with his heart.

He stares at you, the way the lights shine off your sparkly outfit, the way you move your hips to the beat of the song, how you walk with utter and complete confidence on stage. He missed you more than he ever wanted to admit, even after all this time. For the last chorus of the song you two come together, he holds you close to him as he sings looking directly into your eyes and you blush due to the proximity.

You both sing the last line and stare into each other’s eyes for a moment when the crowd erupts. Its all background noise, though, as you see what looks like longing and regret in his eyes. He lets you go, hesitantly staring at you for a beat more before raising the mic to his lips.

“Goodnight, Seoul,” he says, “and Goodnight, y/n,” he says before winking at you and walking off stage with nothing but confidence.

You watch him walk off and feel that familiar pit in your stomach. The concert goes on as usual and eventually comes to end, your girls crowding around you to hug you and celebrate. You give them an annoyed look though once you’re in the dressing room.

“I can not believe you kept that from me!” You say astonished.

“I didn’t know he was planning on getting on stage!” CL defends.

“But you knew he would be here, and you knew I hadn’t told him about the concert,” she interrupts you.

“Y/n, jagi, I’m sorry, I know I should’ve told you. But if you’re really over him, why are you so upset?” she gives you a knowing look. The girls knew you weren’t over him; you had convinced yourself but not them.

“Maybe you should talk to him,” Minzy suggests as she walks up.

“Nope, I’m not going to reopen that wound,” you say defiantly.

“Sounds like it’s all ready opened,” CL mumbles and you shoot daggers at her.

“Can we just celebrate please? I’d like to remember this as a good night,”

“Oh it’s definitely one you’ll remember,” Bom speaks up with a chuckle and another look is thrown her way now.

The next morning you wake up to your social media flooded as well as texts from CL.

“Dude, have you seen this?” She sends you a link to a tiktok that has a video from last night with you and Jiyong singing before more music starts playing with old photos and a short video of you two goofing off comes up. Fan edits were being made and you were being tagged in a ton of them.

“Holy crap,” you whisper.

“Are they actually back together?”

“It was just for the show.”

“So does this mean my parents are endgame again?”

More and more comments questioning you and Jiyong’s relationship flooded video after video, picture after picture and post after post across the web. As you get dressed for the day you get a call from an unknown number.

“Hello?”

“Seem’s we’re popular,” you hear his deep voice say as he chuckles.

“Ji,” you say, a little desperate than you meant for it to sound.

“Listen, I don’t know what you’re doing today, but if I remember correctly, you never did two shows back-to-back,” you listen intently.

“So, if you’re free tonight, come over. I want to talk to you.” His voice is hopeful. It’s not like you could lie to him, your schedule was posted all over social media by now so telling him you had a show was easily disproven. You sigh into the phone rubbing your forehead.

“What time?”

“7, and come in something comfortable, I’m making dinner.”

“Since when did you cook?” you tease.

“Since you taught me to make your favorite meal,” he teases back and you blush with a small smile creeping up on your lips.

“I’ll see you tonight,”

“See you then, jagiya.”

Your heart skips a beat at the pet name. Sure, others called you that as a term of endearment but from him, it meant something different. You stand in front of his door in sweatpants and a loose-fitting shirt. The man said casual wear so you went comfy, after all with all the discomfort that could come from tonight, you wanted to be as comfortable as possible. He opens the door, the smell of your favorite dish hitting your nostrils.

He smiles, he’s got his hair ruffled a bit and his glasses on, he steps aside to let you in and the memories from you years long relationship floods back to you. Most things were the same. A few new art pieces, a new sculpture even.

“Nice to see not much has changed,” you say as he walks a past you into the kitchen. You follow him and sit down at the bar. Princess Zoa hops onto the counter and greets you with soft purs and rubbing her head against your hand.

“And of course the princess herself,” you baby talk the cat and out the corner of your eye you can see Ji staring at you, a content smile on his face as he watches you with his cat-child.

He plates the food and you both eat, neither of you sure what to say.

“You really did do great, last night,” he comments after a moment of silence.

“Thank you, I’ll be honest I was surprised to see you.” You look up from your plate to find him all ready looking at you.

“CL invited me,” he admits.

“I wasn’t going to go at first, I wasn’t sure if you’d want me there.” You just look at your plate and he’s hoping you’ll say something.

“Ok, maybe you didn’t,” he mumbles pushing food around on his plate.

“What do you want me to say, Ji-yong?” Your fork clanks against the plate as you turn your whole body to look pointedly at him. He looks at you, shrinking a bit. He wasn’t sure how to do this, not really.

“Do you want me to say that I never moved on? That I still think about you, especially when I’m out and I see clothing I know you’d love. That I miss you being in bed next to me? That I miss sleeping over here and waking up to your cats gently making biscuits or laying loafed up on one of us? That I miss how you would always give me kiss on the forehead first thing when you woke up?” your eyes are frantic and he can see the panic and fear in them after you unload everything that needed to be said.

“Or how about that I miss the way your lips felt, the smell of your cologne, or the way you would always have a slight skip in your step when you had a really good day.” He looks at you stunned.

“What about how I miss the way you used to look at me, or how you could make me feel like I was the only girl in the world you’d ever look at. Or how,” he cuts you off with a passionate, deep slow kiss. You freeze for a moment before giving to the desire you’ve had since the day he left.

You both pull apart and he takes your hand leading you to the couch in the living room. He sits down and pulls you down beside him.

“Jagiya,” he whispers as he puts your foreheads together, “I’ve missed you so much.” You can feel tears pricking your eyes and you blink them back. His lips attach to yours again in another slow kiss, he cups your face with his hands and you hold onto his wrist.

“Ji-yong, you left me. I don’t understand,” you croak, emotion welling up in your throat.

“I know, and I’m sorry y/n,” he sighs as he pulls away from you to look at the ground.

“I let the label and what everyone else said get to me and I thought that letting you go was best for both of us, that we could find other people and be happy, but I’m not,” he looks deep into your eyes.

“I’m not happy at all, without you this means nothing to me. If you’re not in the crowd cheering me on I’m not the same G-Dragon. Without you here, without you home I’m not the same Ji-yong. I need you like I need air to breathe.” You feel a stray tear fall onto your cheek and he wipes it away with thumb.

“I’d like another chance, a chance to love you properly, to spoil you and show you just how much you mean to me,” he pleads.

“Oh, Ji,” you pull his face to you and kiss him again and you feel him smile against your lips.

“Is that a yes?” he quirks his brow and you smile.

Okay, just to address this, but Henry Cavill's PR was actually a lot more insidious than this post might make things seem. Because he really only fucked up and showed his hand a few times.

Like, out of +50 interviews for S2, it's only in (iirc) 3 interviews that he ever acknowledges anything about how he was the one cutting Geralt's lines — and even then, all of those interviews either happened at con panels, in interviews over ~10 mins long, and/or in foreign/non-english press — all of which are significantly less likely to be seen and reported on by the fandom and larger news outlets. But in all the rest of those +50 interviews? He was talking about how much he pushed for a more verbose Geralt whilst never acknowledging how HE'S the one responsible for that mess in the first place.

Same thing with him going on about how much he cares about adhering to the source material as if Lauren's vision of the show is somehow in opposition to that. He went on and on and on about that all throughout the press for S2, but it's only in a few interviews where he fucks up and actually gives the context for what he meant by "Lauren's vision" ie Yennefer and Ciri being just as important as Geralt is and the show heavily centering around women.

Or, like, in S1 interviews, he was perfectly fine with bringing up how he had no idea about the books until Lauren told him about them and he had no problem talking about how much he was inspired by the video games for his performance as Geralt. Then come S2 (after he'd gotten dunked on by reddit for his book inaccurate performance in S1) and he suddenly changed his tune, hardly mentioned the games as inspiring his performance again (or, really, at all), and started going on and on about the books.

Or even with him admitting to, basically, having only played the third game despite saying he's played all the games and everything — he only ever admitted that in maybe, like, 2 interviews all of which were in foreign/non-english press. Same thing with him admitting he only ever read through the series once — he only ever said that in one interview and it was at a +40 minute long con panel.

Or even this quote from S1 press where he admits to how he didn't actually prepare for the role or do any research:

"I asked my agent to put me on the spot and wanted to meet Lauren as soon as possible. I didn’t even need to prepare specially for the role. Because I breathe, I experience this universe every day. I’ve already had many opportunities to think about this character when I was playing the game. My preparation was already done before the casting even began!"

Like, where is that quote from? It's from an interview he did with a french magazine. So obviously not a lot of people saw it. Plus, the quote might sound… fine without context. But what is the context? He hadn't read any of the books and he had only ever really played the third game.

Like, adding it all up, it does look bad. Because it is lol. But the thing is, the vast, vast, vast majority of the fanbase never did this. It read or watched maybe one or two interviews he did here and there and only ever saw Henry Cavill talking about how much of a fan he is, how much he knows, how hard he pushed for a more book accurate Geralt, how important adhering to the source material is to him. But when you actually look into everything he's said, that's when his whole story really falls apart because none of it adds up or makes any sense.

"Henry Cavill is a massive fan of the books and the games and he quit the show because the writers wouldn't stick to the books and he just cares about the source material so much."

Henry Cavill not only did not know that the books existed when he started pursuing the role of Geralt, but he actually thought that the books were based off of the video games (and he still didn't bother to read them) and he didn't learn that the games were actually based off the books until Lauren told him (even though the first thing in the game credits is that they're based off the books); as of 2021, he as only read the full series once — right before he was cast in 2018; while he has played TW3, he has only played a little of TW2 (and I've never found any evidence that he's played the first game); and he also has not played the DLC for TW3.

Henry Cavill also started heavily pushing the narrative that he's just such a massive fan of the books and how important adhering to the source material is to him during the press for S2 to deflect from how it was due to his acting choices of cutting Geralt's lines and either saying nothing or just grunting instead that Geralt's characterization — who is much more verbose in the books — was book inaccurate in S1:

He also lied about the situation and tried to act like Geralt was never originally written as being verbose and blamed the lack of dialogue on Yennefer and Ciri's prominence, which cannot be true as confirmed by Lauren:

And tried to act like the lines he was cutting weren't that important anyway so it wasn't really a big deal, which also cannot be true as confirmed by Joey:

He also started pushing the narrative that adhering to the source material is so important to him and it's 'tricky' to do that with Lauren's vision, but his definition of "Lauren's vision" is the show being an ensemble piece with Yennefer and Ciri at the forefront (like the books) and the show in general heavily centering around women (like the books):

So the idea of him caring so much about "book accuracy" is, in fact, not accurate to the books at all as his problems were the prominence of women in the show when Ciri is the main character of the main book series, which the show started adapting from S2 onwards (which is when Henry Cavill started to complain about wanting "book accuracy" in the first place), and when women are very prominent, central, key figures in the books and they often drive the plot forwards.

Lastly, S3 was the closest adaption of the books out of all the seasons so far, so the idea that he quit after S3 because the writers just weren't respecting the source material and the show wasn't following the books doesn't make any sense anyway.

"Henry Cavill is the only reason why the show was even close to the source material at all."

I've not only never seen any evidence of this, but if anything, I've seen the exact opposite: Henry Cavill was either directly responsible for or at least contributed in some way to a lot of things that went against the books or didn't happen in them.

As I already pointed out, he cut Geralt's lines in S1 and either said nothing or just grunted instead which is inaccurate to Geralt's characterization in the books. Here's another quote from Joey affirming that:

He didn't want Geralt and Triss to even just platonically find comfort in each other in S2 — which is what happens in the books:

He nixed a sex scene between Geralt and Yennefer in S2 because he didn't think it'd be in character of them to have sex after reuniting which, uh, is absolutely in character of them:

While this is an incredibly inconsequential change, given the prevalence of this idea that Henry Cavill is such an ardent defender of the source material ie the books and how much he wanted the show to adhere to them, I do think it's important to note that he pushed for — and got — more signs into the show even though by his own admission that is more of a game thing than a book thing and he got it into the show for the explicit purpose of catering to game stans:

This is also another incredibly inconsequential change, but again, given how prevalent the idea of Henry Cavill pushing for perfect source accuracy is, I do just want to point out that he would wear his armor 24/7 to make it look worn down:

Even though it is canon in the books that Geralt will buy himself brand new clothes, so the idea that Geralt's clothing has to look worn down and can't be brand new is not actually book accurate.

"Lauren wanted to make Roach's death a joke."

Just to address this point specifically, Lauren wanted to make a meta reference about how all of Geralt's horses are named Roach. That in no way, shape, or form means that she wanted to make Roach's death into a joke or even that the scene had to be played comedically. This is what Lauren had to say about the subject and the 'joke' in question (which, js, actually fits the tone of the books more):

And as far as the "Henry Cavill is the only one who cared about the source material and he's the only reason why the show even stuck to the books at all" front goes... Henry Cavill did change the dialogue in this scene to a book quote/reference; however, the quote in question ("Enjoy your last walk across the meadow and through the mist. Be not afraid of her for she is your friend.") is not something that Geralt himself says and the line/scene from the books foreshadows Geralt's ending in them.

So, at least imo — especially taking into account the incredibly high standard the fandom has set for Henry Cavill as the #1 defender of the books — I don't think this change was actually book accurate especially given the narrative significance of that exchange in the books.

Hehehe!🤭I was thinking last night about this post and then remembered that scene from the movie because I rewatched BD part 2 like 3 days ago, so the connection came to me last night and I was like, AAAAAAAA! Ohhh, omg that's so interesting to learn! I understand why you waited. I'd do the same thing! Plus, I imagine you still have to pay the fee for B1, even if you've already taken it, no? So basically people wound up paying twice for B1, so it's more convenient to wait until 18 (if possible of course, I know for some people it isn't because of necessity to get to their jobs, school, other things etc).

Here it's different. You get a driver's permit when you're 15 that allows you to drive, but only if you have an adult who has a driver's license with you. The permit is given to you if you pass a written exam. Then, to get the driver's license as a minor (16) (a license that covers any kind of vehicle from 2 seats, 4 seats, or more; you need other types of licenses for a motorcycle or to drive buses, or semitrucks, etc), you take the driving test at school through the driver's education class. Most people do it through the school when they're at that age because if you do, you get a slip confirming you passed and take it to the DMV to get the driver's license from them.

If you don't get it through the school's driver's class, then you must go to the DMV to take the driving test as long as your permit is still valid and not expired. If the permit is expired, you must retake the permit and wait like 6 months before you're allowed to take the driving test.

But most people try and get it at the age of 16 through the school bc passing the exam through the school allows your parents to get a discount on their car insurance when you get added to the plan bc...

From ages 16 to 21, the insurance price goes higher once you're added to the plan bc the insurance considers people of this age group more of a liability (more likely to be reckless while driving). If you pass the driving test through the school, the insurance makes a discount to the new fee from you being added. It finally goes back to a normal and lesser price when you turn 21 (no longer consider as reckless), regardless if you're on your own insurance or shared with other people at that age.

Also fun fact: for boys, it's higher than girls bc between boys and girls, boys are typically more likely to be reckless lol. So here, parents teach their teenagers to drive so they can get the driving pass through the school for that insurance discount at 16.
