One of my favorite scenes from A Separate Peace, taken from chapter four:

A French examination was announced for one Friday late in August. Finny and I studied for it in the library Thursday afternoon; I went over vocabulary lists, and he wrote messages—je ne give a damn pas about le francais, les filles en France ne wear pas les pantelons—and passed them with great seriousness to me, as aide-mémoire. Of course I didn’t get any work done. After supper I went to our room to try again. Phineas came in a couple of minutes later.

“Arise,” he began airily, “Senior Overseer Charter Member! Elwin ‘Leper’ Lepellier has announced his intention to make the leap this very night, to qualify, to save his face at last.”

I didn’t believe it for a second. Leper Lepellier would go down paralyzed with panic on any sinking troopship before making such a jump. Finny had put him up to it, to finish me for good on the exam. I turned around with elaborate resignation. “If he jumps out of that tree I’m Mahatma Gandhi.”

“All right,” agreed Finny absently. He had a way of turning cliches inside out like that. “Come on, let’s go. We’ve got to be there. You never know, maybe he will do it this time.”

“Oh, for God sake.” I slammed closed the French book.

“What’s the matter?”

What a performance! His face was completely questioning and candid.

“Studying!” I snarled. “Studying! You know, books. Work. Examinations.”

“Yeah ...” He waited for me to go on, as though he didn’t see what I was getting at.

“Oh for God sake! You don’t know what I’m talking about. No, of course not. Not you.” I stood up and slammed the chair against the desk. “Okay, we go. We watch little lily-liver Lepellier not jump from the tree, and I ruin my grade.”

He looked at me with an interested, surprised expression. “You want to study?”

I began to feel a little uneasy at this mildness of his, so I sighed heavily. “Never mind, forget it. I know, I joined the club, I’m going. What else can I do?”

“Don’t go.” He said it very simply and casually, as though he were saying, “Nice day.” He shrugged, “Don’t go. What the hell, it’s only a game.”

I had stopped halfway across the room, and now I just looked at him. “What d’you mean?” I muttered. What he meant was clear enough, but I was groping for what lay behind his words, for what his thoughts could possibly be. I might have asked, “Who are you, then?” instead. I was facing a total stranger.

“I didn’t know you needed to study,” he said simply, “I didn’t think you ever did. I thought it just came to you.”

It seemed that he had made some kind of parallel between my studies and his sports. He probably thought anything you were good at came without effort. He didn’t know yet that he was unique.

I couldn’t quite achieve a normal speaking voice. “If I need to study, then so do you.”

“Me?” He smiled faintly. “Listen, I could study forever and I’d never break C. But it’s different for you, you’re good. You really are. If I had a brain like that, I’d—I’d have my head cut open so people could look at it.”

“Now wait a second ...”

He put his hands on the back of a chair and leaned toward me. “I know. We kid around a lot and everything, but you have to be serious sometime, about something. If you’re really good at something, I mean if there’s nobody, or hardly anybody, who’s as good as you are, then you’ve got to be serious about that. Don’t mess around, for God’s sake.” He frowned disapprovingly at me. “Why didn’t you say you had to study before? Don’t move from that desk. It’s going to be all A’s for you.”

“Wait a minute,” I said, without any reason.

“It’s okay. I’ll oversee old Leper. I know he’s not going to do it.” He was at the door.

“Wait a minute,” I said more sharply. “Wait just a minute. I’m coming.”

“No you aren’t, pal, you’re going to study.”

“Never mind my studying.”

“You think you’ve done enough already?”

“Yes.” I let this drop curtly to bar him from telling me what to do about my work. He let it go at that, and went out the door ahead of me, whistling off key.

My experience having 5H in Scorpio

Disclaimer: These are based on personal observations and experiences and may not resonate for everyone with these placements. If it doesn't apply, let it fly 🪽

I have many "normal" interests (makeup, fashion, hair, shopping, music, TV, etc) and I tell new people about those, but my true interests and hobbies always skewed towards dark or slightly morbid matter, so I keep them hidden. The sheer number of times I have to swallow back a Salad Fingers reference or refrain from giving my opinion on Fran Bow's mental condition in normal conversation... istg...Anyhow, due to my upbringing, I was sheltered from knowing exactly how odd I was until I left home at 18. That's when I got to catch up on some of the shows and cartoons that other people grew up on (for many reasons I don't feel like getting into right now, but "home school" and "radical religious parents" should give you a basic idea).

Thankfully I had a few friends who experienced similar childhoods, some of whom I even grew up with so I could talk about my weird stuff and they could tell me about theirs. For example, I've always been a little fascinated by blood. That whole thing with Angelina and her blood vial necklace did not gross me out at all - I found it cute and I'll die on that hill. Things like blood oaths and so on in history just capture my attention for some reason. Honestly, if the substance itself weren't a bio-hazard, I'd make art with it.

I remember talking with a friend about how I couldn't fully get into Avatar, but out of the little I HAD watched, I developed a very SPECIFIC hyper fixation with blood-bending and deep-dived the topic for WEEKS.I did not give a shit about any of the other bending abilities. Not even normal water-bending. 🫠 Just blood-bending. Idk if it's the power and control factor, or if if I'm just due for a wellness check. Who am I kidding-I have Capricorn & Scorpio stelliums. OFC IT'S ABOUT POWER.

History is another example. My favorite subject. Left unattended, I will look up every deformity that came about by royal family inbreeding or watch a fellow history nerd compile a tier list of the most brutal execution methods of all time. Once, for my birthday, my dad bought me a book called "A Left-Handed History Of The World." That was one of the few times I've felt truly seen by either of my parents. That tome was RIGHT up my alley. I'm a lefty myself and it was nice to read about so many famous and infamous people who were left-handed too. Like Jimi Hendrix - one of my favorite musicians.

I also know a wide variety of herbs, oils and flowers to use to cure or relieve many ailments by heart, and enjoy teaching people how to use those, along with basic reflexology to relieve minor symptoms during the day, so ah, there is that. Not sure how I got into herbology and such, but I do remember being horrified when one of my best friends used to regularly eat leaves off the trees on our street. We were like 7. I kept telling him he would die if he did that and he'd eat more lol. Ofc, nothing happened to him and he was never sick that I remember. So ever since then I was fascinated by the idea of using leaves to feel better.

(Yes, I smoke weed now - are you surprised? lol)

I also enjoy doing synastry readings for friends, family, coworkers, etc., when they're feeling lost or confused about a crush/friend/partner. It's always nice to see their faces light up with understanding when I explain a certain dynamic or give them advice on how to clear up recurring miscommunications. Most of what I enjoy is kinda witchy, but it's not all horrifying, lmao. Like children. Can't mention 5H Scorpio without kids coming up, lol. I was obsessed with the idea of children when I was a lot younger. I had names picked out for them, I would imagine their personalities and somehow they were always stubborn and unruly (I think subconsciously, I enjoy a challenge). In my daily life, anyone or anything in my care automatically became my child in a way. I actually wanted 6 kids at one point. Or some large even number. Babysitting was never a chore for me because I genuinely find children sweet and entertaining.

Even the supposedly misbehaved ones. They need love too. ❤️

Speaking of obsessions, I am a highly possessive person, but because I also have Venus in Scorpio + Mars in Cancer, I'm prone to have VERY strong reactions to rejection, betrayal and the like. For me, though, these are usually implosions. Being a Virgo sun, Capricorn moon, I generally refuse to let my inner turmoil get out into the public eye unless I feel like showing it.

So at any given time, I can be SEETHING inside, but look cold and unbothered.

Having 5H Scorpio is also often associated with being extremely creative, and....IT'S TRUE OMG. I love interior design and decorating, and lots of aesthetically pleasing crafts like crochet, origami, embroidery, etc. Sometimes I waste a phenomenal amount of time at work to make a spreadsheet pretty or play with the fonts in a document. I can't help it, I need to make things look beautiful and stand out.

I am easily consumed by whatever I'm into, and I guess that would be a bad thing if there were people relying on me to be emotionally present on a regular basis, but since it's just me, I get to be lost in my passions most of the time like Frankie (from the TV show Grace and Frankie, lol

- yeah no same as Ino, Kiba kindaaaa should have won. I’m more okay with this outcome than the Ino-Sakura result because Naruto’s the MC so he’s obviously going to win, but that fart was utter bullshit

-also I get that Kiba probably would have wrecked the clones with his human drill shit but why didn’t Naruto just try spamming shadow clones from the beginning

Things that genuinely bugs me about some fics with the Vees that I need to get off my chest. No hate, just a bit of incoherent venting.

As a preface, I'm not necessarily saying any fic that uses any of the following stuff is inherently bad, I've seen a LOT of good fics that use these, but it just drives me crazy when it's all I see and it's very surface level.

For starters, Velvette.

Almost ANY time I see a fic with an abusive staticmoth relationship dynamic (The ones that are playing off of the Voxtagram posts- I have something to say about them too honestly), it's always something along the lines of 'Oh, Valentino's so cruel to poor Voxy, and Velvette's his only true friend, ahhh, they're so close'. Istg this drives me insane. I don't know if it's just the type of fics I read or what, but what about Velvette do you all think shows she's a nice person?? (I mean, the same can be said for Vox, but we're focused on the doll rn) I've seen people say they think she's the most likely to be redeemed of the Vees, and why?? What makes you say that?!?

Literally- If you want to be nitpicky, the only Vee we've seen that hasn't mistreated his employees is in fact Vox, which, his woobifiecation has a part later. But why does everybody make Velvette the nice one!?! I don't know, just, if you want to make Val abusive to Vox, make Velvette the same?? It makes more logical sense too, since Valentino and Vox have known each other for years, and they're close, but Val's still a piece of shit. So why is Velvette nice!? She actually, in canon, treats Vox... worse than Valentino does!? So why is she always portrayed as the 'nice one' in abusive Staticmoth fics?

Also, anybody who says they think she's the brains/backbone of the Vees!? No??We see her do one (1) smart thing, which is identify Carmilla Carmine's reaction, but like. Do we really think the Vees, who were very open about being a team, didn't talk about it beforehand like they did with Pentious?? And she clearly can't be bothered to deal with Valentino, so why do you believe her when she says she's the backbone?!

And Valentino, omg. Like, yes, his character is objectively shitty. Yes, he's Not a Good Person.

But why do so many fans (I'm big on Radiostatic, so I'm mostly talking about those fics) make Val the Big Bad in other Vox ships?!? Like, toxic Staticmoth is amazing, yes. But, outside of the now retconned Voxtagram posts, Val is never too horribly bad to Vox. In fact, they're really close. So WHY is it this hard to find a Vox x literally anybody else (platonic or romantic) where Val isn't a piece of shit to him. (And no, I'm not saying every fic is like that, just that a significant portion is.)

Vox. I swear.

Honestly, I can understand the woobiefication for him more than I can understand Velvette's or Valentino's... just, people removing all his good traits. He's portrayed as pathetic the most, he's the one with the most focus, he's actually, from what we've seen, the most decent of the Vees beyond his comment to Pentious. (Velvette makes love potion and verbally abuses her employees, while also not caring about them at all, Valentino's... Val, Vox does manipulate the masses and all that, but like, not in a way that's extremely bad compared to his business partners? Really, his worst crime atm is being an enabler and being horrible to Pentious.)

But why. Why must he be portrayed as so overtly pathetic? Like, I get it to some extent, and it's hilarious in fandom, but when people start thinking that he's that pathetic in canon, it rubs me the wrong way. Yes, he's my favorite and I'm biased, but like. He's not that pathetic people.

Tl;dr, Velvette being protrayed as a super nice person (to Vox, in fics where Valentino is portrayed as abusive) and the most decent/smartest Vee, Valentino having all his good traits removed, and Vox being treated as overtly pathetic drives me crazy. It's still fun to read sometimes, but when people say they think it's canon, I actually can't believe it.

BINGQIU VS LIUSHEN/ANY OTHER SHIP WITH SQQ PART 1

BEWARE I HAVENT READ SVSSS IN A WHILE AND I MIGHT’VE MISSED SOME STUFF! Feel free to correct and give your opinions about this.

Theres gonna be two parts to this bc tumblr can’t take all my writing sooooo 😛

In the SVSSS fandom, I’ve noticed that compared to other mxtx’s novels, the mc gets shipped with half of the cast more often and is more widely accepted in the fandom compared to the tgcf and mdzs fandoms (if you ship Hualian or Wangxian with anyone, it will get you death threats, istg 😓). However, with Shen Qingqiu, while of course he gets shipped with his love interests, another really popular one is him with Liu Qingge and many other characters in the novel. I do think this also has to do with the fact that the fandom is more chill than the other two fandoms. Shen Qingqiu in general is just VERY shippable. But why? Why do some people like liushen more than bingqiu? Obviously, I know this is simply a preference, but why do people prefer it more than the canon couple? Well, I have some speculations. First, while I love Bingqiu, I can admit that their relationship is not for everyone; even for me, they’re my least favorite main couple of the three (it's just my opinion, DONT ATTACK ME🙏) because their dynamic can be seen as somewhat toxic. Luo Binghe is very obsessive and kind of yandare like in the novel, and yes, he does have character development and regrets his actions and never really wanted to hurt Shen Qingqiu. I personally don’t feel like we see as much of this development until the very end. At least for me, I feel like we should’ve spent more time with a changed Luo Binghe, and I KNOW he was influenced by Xi Mo. I still didn’t feel completely satisfied with the Luo Binghe arc. I do think we see more of his development in the extras, which is what made me like Bingqiu a lot more, but I just wish we could’ve seen this in the main story instead of optional extras because I think the extras really show Luo Binghe’s growth and his love for Shen Qingqiu in a healthier way. I am aware this boy is very mentally ill. While I’m not a writer, as a reader, I think mxtx could’ve done more for him because he can end up more dislikable for some people and just less appealing of a love interest. I personally LOVE Luo Binghe and how chaotic he is, but again, that is not for everyone, so I can definitely see why some people don’t like him as much. With Shen Qingqiu, this is a bit different. I felt that by the end of the novel he had massive progress and huge development for his character; even if he still has his flaws, you can really tell he has changed and grown throughout the story, but he’s still himself if that makes sense. I felt wayyy more satisfied with his arc than Luo Binghe's; however, I will say that Shen Qingqiu has this sort of shame. While I wouldn’t necessarily call it internalized homophobia, he does have this sort of stigma towards gay people and him being gay himself. And while it can be funny, if you really think about it, even by the end of the novel and in the extras he still has this shame of sleeping with Binghe and showing basic affection, but I won’t really criticize this much because he does improve in this a lot by the extras. By that point, it really feels more like shyness than the shame he felt at the beginning when he first discovered Luo Binghe's feelings. So I will argue that Shen Qingqiu arc is pretty well done and concluded by the end of the book; at least to me, it really did feel like he changed. Okay, so the second reason is because Bingqiu got together when they were both still ‘not at their best’. What do I mean by this? Well in tgcf Xie lian had to endure a lot of torture and experience several traumatic situations and almost released face disease and killed a bunch of people with it. He was clearly very mentally unwell! And for Hua Cheng, he also went through a lot of trauma with his mom dying when he was young and the abuse he went through from his father and the kids who made fun of him to the point where he wanted to end his life, and then later he became a ghost with his parasocial attachment to a god. We see these characters at their worst, but when they get together, they are already 800+ years old and have lived a long life and matured and learned from their experiences.

EUGEEE TALK ABOUT MORE ARCANE AND MY LIFE IS YOURSSSS (i love how all my marauders mutuals are also arcane fans)

ugh caitvi has taken over me, i think what keeps calling to me about them is similar to what calls to me with ships like rosekiller where i think a lot goes unsaid, not because they don't have the words (which they don't tbf) but because they really don't need it? and the words they do say to each other have so many layers between them, that's why i find it so so special how they look at each other and the gestures they have towards each other, how they can't help their decisions are influenced by the other weather they do it consciously or not.

i also think this dynamic happens to be this way more because it's how it works with vi, not so much cait. but cait who is so incredibly well spoken and probably has always felt like she must be assertive and all her words must be carefully chosen and meaningful just feels so fucking good knowing she doesn't need to do all that for her and vi to work out.

i think actions over words is something vi and jinx have in common. kinda why isha affected me so much, istg their relationship was one of my absolute favorite things, and ofc this non-verbal way of forming a relationship is the focus of isha and jinx but i think it's something vi is capable too. because it's also how it worked most of their arc between vi and jinx.

like once again it's a pair of siblings who the way they love each other will continue to affect how they love others. which shows i think in the other universe, with how jinx/poweder manages to love, because she loves vi in a different way too

here's the letter i wrote from jinx to vi, the fic is called Waiting Room because well "i know its for the better" just hits so much with them.

omfg i just stumbled upon your account while looking for critiques of mikasa's writing and istg its like i found an oasis in the desert. like FINALLY someone talks about how her attachment to (read: obsession with) eren is pretty much her entire character and subsumes any interesting traits we see. not to mention the lost potential that's been bothering me for years (the missed opportunity of exploring a connection with her and levi, or how she's literally basically a lost princess and nothing is done with that).

whats frustrating about trying to publicly critique mikasa (or other popular female characters in shonen) is that people are like "ERMMM actually YOU'RE the misogynistic one for only tying her to a man! she's literally the strongest character!" and tbh not much was done with mikasa being the strongest either, just like the other missed potential. i think this is because a lot of shonen fans (western ones at least) only criteria for what makes a character/story good is how strong they are, so mikasa graduating top of her class is enough for them to think she's a feminist icon, when isayama does nothing interesting with her at all besides making her strong.

anyway i just wanted to say i'm tuned in to your account now because i like your takes not just on mikasa, but aot's weaker bits. thank you so much for sharing because for a second i starting thinking i was wrong about my observations 😭

I made a crossover work of Attack on Titan and Transformers Prime. I don't know how interested you are in Transformers, but I do address the four year time skip, Mikasa actually going to Hizuru, a bit of an Ackertalk, try my best to expand on Eren's descent to madness, basically all the stuff I wanted to see explored in AOT.

And there should be a healthy dose of criticism for female characters, there's nothing wrong with that. I think with the online world as we know it, it can be hard to determine if someone is actually being genuine with their criticisms of a female character, or if it comes from a place of misogyny.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with a strong female character, but I do see it as a problem when your female lead is only known for being strong. Sure, in Mikasa's case, her fatal flaw is her love for Eren, but that becomes a problem when her major character moments center around Eren. Doesn't mean I don't like those character moments, but it would have been so nice if we had gotten more for Mikasa. People have begged for Mikasa to have an extended Ackertalk with Levi, but it never came to fruition. Making Mikasa a royal doesn't really play out because we never even get to see Hizuru. Kiyomi's ultimate contribution was the plane that got them to Eren during the Rumbling. And Mikasa being or not being a royal, I feel it wouldn't have changed anything with the way Mikasa was written. I feel like, at best, it explains why Mikasa is the only asian descent on the island.

Apparently Mikasa and Sasha were good friends, but we don't get many moments between the two of them to show their friendship dynamic. At the beginning of the series, it felt more like Mikasa was messing with Sasha. Also, Isayama stated that Armin and Mikasa were living together while Eren was living on his own during the four year time skip before they went to Marley. Why didn't we get to see some of that?

There are examples of well-rounded female characters that are strong. It's not impossible. A good portion of the female characters in Arcane are strong but extremely well rounded: Vi, Jinx, Mel. Or something as old school as the OG Power Puff Girls. We all know the PPG Trio is strong, but the show went out of its way to explore different aspects of each of the girls. Buttercup literally went to the mountains to learn inner peace from a monk because she was too abrasive in combat. Blossom had an episode where she was trying to lie about stealing gold clubs for Professor Utonium. The fan favorite episode for Bubbles is the episode where she just becomes hardcore because she's so tired of being treated as weaker than her sisters. Not to mention, they are sisters, so there's a healthy dose of fighting and arguing and family nonsense.

I think in Isayama's case it's a bit of a disappointment, especially with the other female characters we've gotten in the past. Sasha's a glutton for food, a skilled hunter, but starts learning to think for others when she joins the military. Historia joining the military under a different name and trying to die a noble death so her life would mean something, only to take her own destiny in her hands, kill her father to stop his reign of terror and ignorance, and become queen of the Walls. Annie is a skilled fighter, the Female Titan, but she doesn't care about the glory or honor of Marley. She knows it's a lie. She only cares about getting home to her father. Other than that, she's chosen to move through the world with apathy. We even get a Lost Girls OVA centering around Annie's day in the life of an MP officer.

And speaking of the Lost Girls OVA for Mikasa and Annie, they adapt the chapters from Annie and Mikasa's perspectives, but we don't get that extended conversation that the two of them had in their 104th days which also explains how Mikasa was able to recognize the ring on Annie's finger that she used to transform into the Female Titan. It would have been so cool if that was adapted to the anime!

Like one episode! Or one manga chapter with Mikasa asking Kiyomi more about her heritage would've been so nice!

im being so deadass i think ep6 is my fave in all of the show. its just nice seeing vi and jinx being sisters. istg if one of them dies…i really hope their dynamic will be like the one in those league comic thingies.

also CAITVI NATION IS SO BACK. love love loved seeing them together again. i do wish vi was colder to caitlyn when meeting her instead of calling her cupcake. but hey its been like three years since weve last seen vi call her cupcake so a win is a win. theyre definitely gonna bang next act, i think ep 8.

in terms of criticism i really would have loved to see vi actually pit fighting. i think the main problem was that we already saw the pit fighting scene like two months ago so it didnt hit as hard because that scene really did emphasize what vi was going through so seeing it again just didnt hit as hard. thats just me tho.

in terms of pacing, i honestly have no complaints. i liked it. it felt similar to season one but that could just be me. i like fast paced things sooo yeah. i also love how all the characters converged in ep 6 which kind of tidied some stuff up. still would have preferred longer episodes but animation is expensive and takes a shit ton of time so i understand.

but my main complaint is WHERE IS EKKO⁉️⁉️ THAT MAN HAS NOT BEEN SEEN SINCE THE MIDDLE AGES. since s1e7 was ekko’s, i think ep 7 is gonna be centered around him returning to zaun and meeting all the other characters again…with timebomb sprinkled in. cuz jinx needs some support. i also think ep7 may be a party episode sooo yeah.

anyways i loved this act. it might be my favorite from the entire series but we’ll see.

Misato x Kaji for the ship asks!

Such a good question bestie. I ship them because they fall into several of my favorite shipping tropes: deeply devoted, impossibly toxic, cycles of harm and doomed from the start.

I think one of the things lost in the rebuilds is that Misato is really the secondary protagonist after Shinji; she has more screen time than either Rei or Asuka. And much like Asuka, Kaji comes in episode 8-- the episode after the Misato focus episode-- to throw our entire established dynamics out the window.

They are Asuka and Shinji if their situations were fucked up differently. Misato Shinji style ran away from their relationship in the hopes of outrunning the life her parents had, in the hopes of outrunning the mortifying ordeal of being known, but can escape nothing because she left love behind and stayed with NERV, meaning she's stuck raising two teens, in a job that makes her cold and is complicit in y'know the horrors. She also is Shinji because of inappropriate acts of sexual violence she does to a teen due to her ridiculously low self esteem and baggage about sex, specifically in the face of incredible amounts of grief.

Meanwhile, Kaji is Asuka; a person who covers their deep need for personal connection under flirting with everyone, who is useful to NERV until they ultimately no longer serve the human instrumentality plot and terminated, literally in Kaji's case. Their deaths both cause their respective partners to fucking lose their minds, though in Shinji's case much more dramatically. Both several times anticipate their own deaths and they are right. This is in contrast to Misato and Shinji who, despite their ability to just bounce, seem to think themselves invulnerable. This is I think partially because both Kaji and Asuka had to grown up very quickly and Misato and Shinji meanwhile stagnated. Both couples are so deeply fucked up, and for that we stan.

Also while their sex scene is purposefully intimate and unhot, and their elevator tryst (this show and elevators istg) is hot if a little hmm uncomfy consent wise, the scene where she has a drunken meltdown, kisses her so hard she drops her shoes, after a protracted piggie back ride is TOP TIER, episode 15 never beating the best episode allegations

did you notice how in the first episode when jackie's being dropped off and her and shauna hug, shauna says "i love you" and jackie just smiles (not saying it back) and when shauna's hooking up with jeff just minutes later she tells him to tell her he loves her and she doesn't care if he doesn't mean it????? bro was DEF imagining jackie. every rewatch hurts a little more than the last cause they were so in love. never realized just how incredibly gay jackie was and how down bad she was for shauna until my second rewatch. i love my complex yuri<333 this show's the motherload of ships.

ik you're not her biggest fan rn (shauna) and that's okay, it's really about choosing your favorite cannibal. they all get dragged through shit in one way or another, including/especially shauna. i was a travis apologist when you'd death threats for liking him, imagine my surprise when everyone turned around and began loving him this season (s3). istg that always happens. i'll forever be obsessed with the parallels between travis and shauna.

I did notice that! Though I didn't make the "I love you" connection. But, they hugged, Shauna said "I love you" then when Jackie was walking away, she looked back and smiled, and Shauna stood there staring after her. I don't know about you, but I've never done that with any of my friends. I'm just saying...

I always tend to see the ships before watching a show if it's already a couple seasons in. And I'm always like okay; they seem fun. Then I watch the show and the characters like barely interact. At least with Shauna and Jackie there's a lot of interaction and I can actually see them as totally in love.

I don't really ship anyone with anyone right now. Sometimes it takes me a second. But have to say, honestly, the ship I would tend to love and really get behind is Natalie and Jackie. Wrong side of the tracks meets perfect. The burnout with the popular girl. Complete opposites but somehow work. That's a dynamic I always love to see.

That's fair. I got no problem liking problematic characters and "villains" but I just need that one thing that makes me like them. I have plenty of characters who are terrible people I absolutely love, but they all got that one thing that makes me root for them. There's also plenty of characters (when written well) that I love to hate. I'm indifferent to Travis (like I am with most of the characters) right now. He's kind of an asshole when first introduced but definitely don't think he's terrible, he was at least starting to grow on me by the end of season 1.

I will say though I think they did adult Travis dirty. We like literally didn't seen him really, but I was somehow expected to care about that whole arc? I think I would have cared more if we were shown him a bit more.

First of all, I love love love the symbolism of bed and sleeping as the levels of vulnerability in the relationship.

THE FALLING - I really love and admire how much you made me antsy and nervous about their conversation and how the night will lead them during their first sleepover. With their dialogues, and Jungkook's internal monologue of wanting to grab the opportunity of spending a little more time with oc but also not wanting come off as a creep or someone who takes advantage of them, then there's oc making light of things Jungkook usually overthinks about. A great introduction of how their dynamic will be - also oc taking importance of their shared moment crying about an anime movie that they felt comfortable having him around, I see that as how oc values vulnerability itself and the people that shows them theirs - if this the first fic you will read about them. Another thing, I cannot recall all of them at this moment but Jungkook really loves oc's eyes and how expressive they are, I adore how you used our collective admiration of Jungkook's eyes to him understanding a new perspective of love, it is a classic way of describing an epiphany. I love you so much for that, Artie! I'm a sucker for yearning and I can say that maybe this could be one of my favorite parts of this installment. The awkwardness, the dead air that I could feel, and the funny butterflies on Jungkook's tummy is something I could feel too! He is noticing the little things and he knows he is ruined then and there!

ALLOW ME TO LINGER BY THE DOOR - First of all, the way that the first line completely contrasts the first part. "Hey, it's getting late. Shouldn't you be heading home by now?" (as if they don't know that Jk's gonna wanna stay), oc and their playful antics istg! The moment where Jk realized that they shared a straw and oc being so nonchalant about it, while he is internally exploding. Wait, I changed my mind! This is my most favorite part because of how you perfectly depicted the thing where Jungkook lied about not bringing his own clothes and actually planning to sleepover from the start. It's so funny and endearing at the same time because, yes! I would do the same if I were the one in his position and will definitely bask in oc's presence and charms. I, too, would accept my place to hell. Hahaha! Oh, Art, the way you play with my feelings, following that funny moment with their first intimate moment imo. The physical touch, the very close proximity, the domesticity of the act, and oc talking about a story from their past. Easily the most romantic thing ever. Especially the part where oc snorted and puts their forehead on Jk's back? My tummy feels so warm. The unexpected kiss from oc? I squealed and kick my feet in the air so hard! The little moments that you choose to narrate are one of a kind, Art. I'll forever dream about it happening to me. On the other hand, I know oc enjoys the moment too in many ways possible hehe.

THE YEARNING - Not gonna lie, this part is hard for me to read because this is something I would do drunk and I would feel so embarassed having a person like Jungkook to deal with me. But enough of me, this part of their story made me realize how much Jungkook went out of his shell to join or pick-up oc with their unexpected and silly antics. It made me think of a recurring thought while reading it - if it's not for oc, he wouldn't; if it's not with oc, he wouldn't; if it's not oc, he wouldn't do nor experience all the things. It reminded me of that drabble where Jungkook realized that his love for oc is persevering, this moment of them is a glimpse of how he would always, always choose oc. He's not even the boyfriend, yet he kneels before them to tend to them. Also, the different phases of denial in Jungkook's part and how you used being mad with it is so funny. I like it so much. (The cherry red dress though, oc's sense of style is chef's kiss hehe) Now, having these thoughts made me think of how many more sides of love they have that we haven't seen yet.

HAPPINESS OUTSIDE DAYDREAMS - Ugh! I'm a sucker for this, Art! The first line is so cute and teasing and it introduced us to the next level in their relationship. He's officially the boyfriend! Everybody cheers! I've read so much installment that featured a scene where Jk called oc baby in so many ways yet having the context and experience of the previous parts made this "come here, baby." so fucking sweet! Like, that feeling where you new boyfriend didn't addressed you by your name, that moment where your new friend introduced you as their bestfriend, or that feeling when you got called as a student majoring in a course you've been dreaming about? That proud and exciting feeling of anticipation and contentment. Made me bury my face on my pillow! How you described the happiness Jungkook's feeling is on point, it made me smile like fool, Art. Like, I've been rooting for them, for him since the first part then yes! finally! Here we are!

THE SPRING FLOWER IN THE EYE OF THE STORM - Art, when I tell that this slightly smutty part made me cry more than feeling hot and bothered would you hate me? 😔For some reason, I've been anticipating a smutty part of them ever since you gave us a glimpse but to be honest, I just really ache to see how you perceive their first time will be and…. I am speechless, it is full of mixed emotions, it is exciting, and it is painful in a way that it's because it felt like oc has finally came home. Like, all the path they took in the past, no matter if they go back and change it, they will eventually, and inevitably lead to Jungkook. It is silly and lighthearted yet the undertones of it all makes it all the more romantic. I don't know but I specifically listened to intro (end of the world) by ariana grande during this part. It is so fitting, from the lyrics, the calm, sweet, and lovely sound, to and ariana's mellow singing.

if only you could see yourself through his eyes, even for just a moment, then maybe you’d understand why he’s dancing with fire and folding with his tower of cards. This part perfectly encaptured the thing about oc, it sucks because in any universe, they won't ever know half of the love Jungkook carries for them and them only. The beauty of love and commitment, trusting and giving them your heart, hoping and praying they won't take it for granted and loving them back beyond the reasons and without the reasons.

the burning tears that drip down to your temples are lost evidence you will bring to the grave. You broke me in this part, Art.

SPEAKING TRUTHFULLY YOU'RE THE ONE FOR ME - "You are my rest." To be called someone's rest is to be told that loving you is a nature to them. Something that doesn't require concious effort, something that doesn't need much thinking, something that doesn't require energy from them but a source for them. This such a beautiful phrase you add there. Ahh! I am being too sappy, making deep of the little and silly things but that's just how it is with my favorite couple! Again, the topic of proximity and perspectives as a reoccuring theme and you never fail to give us new idea to ponder to. I adore how Jungkook answered oc's question about his 'options'. I agree, you don't choose other because it is simply not the person you love. It is so cute how they addressed Jungkook's obvious infatuation from the beginning hehe, such a cute moment.

CHOICE TO STAY - I really love it when they call each other 'lover' like you recognize that person as someone who loves you, and you own it, and you know you deserve it that's why you do. Like it's such a validating and romantic thing. Writing my thoughts about this part makes me want to cry because I got reminded of how Jungkook want him and oc to die together. Their conversation here made me realize how much of a fearless lover oc is when it comes to him. They've shown it many times before but it never fails to amaze me how you wrote it differently every single time, and the degrees make me want to set the whole world on fire including hell. I love how they are so open and communicating to each other even if some conversations are painful to have.

The archive part is a compensation for my shaken heart. I lost count of how many deep breathes I took writing this. This is the first that I read from a long time and I was attacked by a big wave of love and wonder. As I always say, I thank the universe for making me alive in the same time as you. KAMINARI AND JIROU BRAINROT!! I REPEAT, KAMINARI AND JIROU BRAINROT!!

I love them sm. Kami has always been one of my favorite charecters ever since I started the show back when s2-3 was out. I abseloutlely love the dynamic between jirou and Kami. ALSO JUST LOOK AT THEM HELLO??

I feel like Jirou would accedently call Kami her lightningbug or firefly and then after that it just stuck. Jirou loves teasing him, sometimes taking it a bit far. But she’ll notice these things and they’ll sit down and talk about it. I feel like they would have good communication while also being able to joke around with eachother. Ideal relationship fr!! I kin both kami and jirou so it’s kinda funny how much I adore this ship.

I feel like Jirou would tease Kami about his glasses, but secretly she adores them. I have a headcanon that Kami’s eyesight will get worse because of the constant bright light from the electricity he imits, hurting his eyes. Just like the “Don’t stare at the sun or you’ll go blind” I’m pretty sure Kami only wears them when he reads, tho I feel like they’ll become permenant at some point.

They are able to bring the best out of eachother. Jirou keeping Kami in place, and Kami making her try new things and be more social. They are like a golden retriever and a black cat. Sun and moon. Kami makes Jirou feel better about herself and makes her feel more confident in the things she likes and are proud of.
