With a raised brow, Nat silently threatens her, not needing to say a single word before the other woman scrambles away without saying anything.

"Was that really necessary, Nat?" Steve asks curtly, clearly unhappy with her rudeness. However, she isn't fazed and instead cuts straight to the point, not worrying about who else can hear.

And keep it down during the night; she's not the only one losing sleep over the dying cats you seem to find every night," Natasha tells him, and with that, he rips his arm away, stomping out of the living room and heading to the gym, needing to let his frustrations out.

Things have improved in the first few days after Natasha talked to Steve. Even though he has brought some more women back (because 'every woman wants a chance with Captain America' as Steve says it), he has managed to keep it down, and you have gotten a solid six to seven hours of sleep, which instantly brightens your mood. "It's okay, Detka, I'm here with you; just let it all out," she reassures and calms you. You awake to find him tracing a particularly large mark on your hip/stomach area, and you immediately cover up out of shame. He furrows his brow. "I'm sorry Luci, I'm just kind of insecure about them I guess?"

"There's no need, MC, I think every part of you is absolutely stunning."

Overally, he does not care at all. He does relate in a way though, he feels like his wings and your stretch marks are both places of slight shame for you.

Mammon is one who notices fairly early. You're reaching up to put something away after you've been transported to the Devildom, and he panics for a moment, "woah, how'd you get all those scars, MC?" He doesn't realize how insensitive the question is, but he feels like an ass when your immediately tug your shirt down.

"They're just stretch marks," you shrug him off, quickly going back to putting things away, more careful this time to not expose yourself.

They end up being one of the main reasons you put off having sex for the first time, and it takes some confrontation from Mammon for him to realize what's up. He asks you if you're just not ready to have sex or if you're not attracted to him. "Of course I'm into you, Mammon! I'm just, honestly, I'm insecure about the stretch marks all over me..."

"Treasure, that's ridiculous! You're gorgeous. I love you, all of you. And they're cool."

Leviathan doesn't notice until you point them out. He was talking about his insecurities and you we're like, "yeah, I kinda get it. I have these stretch marks all over! It's embarrassing!"

"Wha? Lemme see." Thankfully you're close enough at this point for human contact, and he's pretty amazed. "Those are so cool though! I-I, I like how the skin changes texture." He gently touches one on your stomach, before retracting his hand and apologizing.

Generally he actually loves the tactile stimulation from them. He adores being able to trace your skin and feel you. The emotional connection and physical are something he thrives from.

He absolutely adores them! Asmodeus is in love with all of you, ever part. He first notices one day while you're out shopping, trying on clothes, and you try on a crop top of sorts. He's aware of what they are and doesn't say anything, until you bring up how it shows them. "You should show of your tiger stripes more, MC! Rawr!" He makes a paw like a cat and giggles at you, smiling. "All jokes aside, you look absolutely lovely and I love this on you!"

Overall, he will go out of his way to show some love to them. He'll kiss them while you make love, or he'll give your belly a squeeze in general to see you jump!

Satan first notices when you're at a cat cafe, you leaned over to pet a kitty and he notices a particularly red mark. "Oh, MC, did a cat scratch you?" He leans towards you, nudging your shirt up. "No, that's just a stretch mark." He notices how you avert your gaze and tug your shirt down. He doesn't bring it up again.

It gets brought up again about a week later when things are getting steamy, and he's grabbing at your body, and you yelp. "Did I hurt you?" His brow is furrowed, he looks so guilty. "No no! I'm just, I'm just a little insecure is all. I'm sorry."

"You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for. I'm interested in every part of you, MC. And, I think they're interesting."

Beelzebub and Belphegor first notice at a fanghoul game! Beel is hugging Belphie, and next is you, and Beel sees your shirt ride up.

"Mc, what's that? Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?" Beel freezes where he stands, his brow furrowed.

"No, Beel, those are stretch marks. Some humans have them. Can we go home now?" Belphie answers for you, and you're thankful, as well as a little embarrassed.

Beel gives you a 2nd apologetic glance before moving on, and you all head home.

Overall, Beel does not seem to notice them most of the time. though he does like to grab onto your tummy when you have sex, and he will kill the stretch marks where he grabbed afterwards.

Belphagor is another who likes to trace your stretch marks as he dozes off. You always feel the tip of his finger grazing along the sensitive thin skin.

Storytime: why and when Käärijä called me lovely

I was at the Ravintola Kaisla gig at Tampere, the whole day had been pretty hot and we had been queueing since 8am. I had had lunch, snacks and like a decent amount of water during the day but apparently not enough.

Doors opened 5 hours before the gig started, and the venue kept getting hotter as more and more people got there.

During the gig my depth perception suddenly went wild, it was like one eye was zooming in while the other was zooming out and they kept switching every second, just people and things jumping back and forth in my vision, and I felt like I was about to faint right then and there.

Thankfully Jere started to yap right after the song ended, so when he was quiet for one second I yelled from the second row to him, asking if I could get water because I'm about to pass out. He went "of course you can, where are you?" as he grabbed a bottle from Allu's table. I raised my hand, my friends pointed at me and we all yelled "here!". As he brought me the bottle he joked that he was about to say "fuck you" but then he heard (he cut himself off mid sentence but its obvious what he meant haha). He handed it to me and I went "thank you, love!" He looked me in the eye, smile on his lips and went "of course. You're lovely" and then asked if anyone else is thirsty. I downed like half of that bottle in one go.

After the gig I found out that the lovely @frikatilhi had gotten my interaction with Jere on video, forever thankful for her for filming all of his yapping during the gig 🙏💚 tilhi clipped that part from a longer video and sent it to me, and when I say I've been watching that 13 second video on loop....

I wasn't feeling too good at the Kokkolan Venetsialaiset the next day either, had to go to the first aid tent a few hours before K's gig ✌️ but I'm home now, feeling fine, just tired af. Also the bottle K gave me is on my bookshelf, marked as the you're lovely bottle 😌

should we talk about the interlace on gwayne's horse's armor?

since I spend altogether too much time looking at stills and gifs of gwayne anyway, I figured I might as well share some observations I have about the really interesting visuals that are happening with his horse's armor

this is part art historical analysis, part gwayne meta, and part "let's look at some gorgeous images under the guise of doing visual analysis" so if that's your thing, please read on! if not, that's also totally fine – I get that this is hyperspecific and also a symptom of my very serious gwayne brainrot, so I'm putting everything else below the cut! 💚💚 (also it's quite long – sorry! 😅)

okay I want to be upfront about my qualifications and my shortfalls here: I'm an art history phd student and so basically all I do is visual analysis of objects. I've studied a number of medieval manuscripts that feature interlace (which is where I'm going to draw most of my knowledge from here), and I've taken a seminar (an advanced graduate course) specifically on medieval manuscripts, for which I wrote a research paper entitled "From Kells to Celtic: The Aesthetics of the Book of Kells Illuminations as a Marker of Irish Identity." HOWEVER I am NOT a historian of armor, so I will be taking my knowledge of interlace on other objects and applying it to the armor we see in the show

a short intro

so, the first thing that struck me about gwayne's horse's armor is that it's really different than the other equestrian armor we see, even amongst the other men who came with him from oldtown. to be honest, my guess is that this was likely done in the show to help him stand out and also show that he is a special and precious princess (which he is btw 😌😌) who needs fancy armor for his horse. I'm not sure if further thought went into it than that (but maybe it did! I'm happy to stand corrected here!)

however, the catastrophic levels of brainrot I've developed over this man have compelled me to read much further into it than that, which I shall now proceed to do with great enthusiasm! ☺️

first, let's look at the armor:

it's hard to find really detailed close-ups, but it's clear that the armor is incredibly intricate. not only do we have this very complex interlacing, but certain designs are marked out with different colors and internal patterning, making the whole thing even more visually interesting and complex

while interlacing is used across a vast range of time, cultures, geographical regions, and artistic mediums, given both the visuality of this armor in particular and knowing that westeros is based on medieval europe, seeing this interlace instantly called to mind a style that we today call "insular fusion" (I'm not going to go into all the specifics of it here because that's a post all its own lol 😅). it's a style perhaps most famously exemplified by The Book of Kells, but it is found throughout many different objects of the same period (ca. 700-900 CE)

now let's look at some fucking interlace hell yeah!!!!!!

do we see the vision??? are y'all picking up what I'm putting down???

"okay, charlotte, I see the similarities, but why does this matter?" you may be asking yourself (or maybe you aren't idk), and the answer is: this type of interlacing had some super fascinating meanings and uses, some of which I think we can apply to gwayne! 💚💚

let me break it down from least to most potentially related to gwayne:

the aesthetics of interlace as an identity marker

use of interlace in a religious context

interlace as a status symbol

the protective potential of interlace

and now let's go into detailllllllll!!!!!

the aesthetics of interlace as an identity marker

I bring this one up because it's what I focused on in my personal research on the topic of interlace, but I also think it's the least relevant to gwayne. my argument in my paper was that the aesthetics of the interlace in the Book of Kells have been thoughtfully and intentionally re-used throughout history and into the present as a clear visual marker of identity that draws a narrative back to the production of the Book of Kells. however, in terms of the show, we have very little indication that the particular style of interlacing we see on gwayne's horse is associated with any larger identity concepts. it doesn't seem to be associated with house hightower, as none of the other men with gwayne seem to borrow this motif, nor do we see it associated with alicent (as far as I can tell from the little looking I've done, but I'm more than happy to revise this!). for it to make sense as some form of identity marker, it would have to be clear what identity he's visually referencing, and since his use of interlace seems unique, I think it's doubtful that it's part of a larger visual invocation of identity

use of interlace in a religious context

part of what makes insular fusion so interesting as a style is that it is indeed a fusion of a number of different regional styles, including vine scrolls from the mediterranean, triskeles from the northern british isles, and zoomorphic (meaning "in the form of animals") interlace from northwestern mainland europe. although insular fusion is used to decorate christian objects (like gospel books and churches), its component parts are much much older and have connections to various pagan religions that significantly pre-date christianity. obviously it's impossible to be 100% certain of the exact significance of interlace in any of these religious contexts (there are no written records explaining it), but scholars have a few guesses

one suggestion is that interlace in some way represented the spirit world/the world of the gods, or perhaps even a point of connection between the human world and the world beyond. although the religion of westeros is obviously different than any of the real-world religions that used interlace in this manner, I do still wonder if there could be a religious connection here. it's pretty clear that gwayne's mother was quite religious, and alicent is as well. although we don't totally know gwayne's relationship with religion, we could certainly guess that it's at least a little bit important to him, given the beliefs of the women in his life. I know that the most common religious symbol in westeros tends to be the seven-pointed star, which is not something I see on the interlace on the armor, so I'm not sure how far I would want to take this hypothesis, but I did want to put it out there for anyone who might have further thoughts!

as I mentioned to in the beginning, I do think it's likely that this particular type of armor was chosen for gwayne's horse because it does come off as a bit ostentatious. the manuscripts with interlace that I mentioned above were hugely expensive and time-consuming projects, and only the most affluent religious communities could afford such luxurious gospel books. given the level of detail on the armor, I have to imagine that the same is true in the world of the show. in some ways, it's a mode of conspicuous consumption; a demonstration of the hightowers' wealth and influence. there's a reason gwayne's horse's armor stands out: because it's meant to. it's meant to set him apart, even from the other soldiers who came with him from oldtown

now this next part is just my own conjecture, but I also wonder if the armor is meant to speak to a more artistic sensibility on gwayne's part. after all, equestrian armor is a very functional object with a very clear goal: to protect the horse. from a purely functional standpoint, the interlace does nothing to serve this purpose (and may actually hinder it a little??), it simply adds a complex visuality to the armor. aside from just flaunting the wealth that must have been expended to commission such a piece, it also suggests that it was crafted by artisans who had both functional and aesthetic goals in mind while creating it. whether it was gwayne himself who directed the commission or not, it seems significant that he chose to use this armor that doubles as a kind of art piece. he does seem to be someone who enjoys the finer things in life, so it wouldn't surprise me if he had an artistic appreciation too, and was using this armor as a way to demonstrate that (or perhaps even just as a way to show his own personal artistic taste/preferences)

the protective potential of interlace

technically, I think "interlace as a status symbol" is the most likely reason for the armor being the way it is, but this one is my favorite theory, so I'm putting it at the top. circling back to the religious uses of interlace, another theory of its religious significance is as a mode of protection. some scholars think that its creators believed that the weaving, intertwined lines of the interlace would confuse and trap evil spirits. building on this theory is the fact that complex interlacing was often used at transitional or liminal points, such as the beginning pages of a gospel book or on the doors of churches. the idea here is that the interlace wields its protective powers at these key entry points against any evil entities that might try to enter sacred or protected spaces

interlace as apotropaic (a fancy technical term meaning "protective," often used in reference to magic or magical practices) seems particularly poignant for an object that was literally going to be worn into battle. now, I admit once again that there is little canon evidence to suggest that interlace is thought of in this way in the world of the show, so I'm running with this theory more because I like it rather than because I think it's legitimately based in canon. but I just think it's very sweet that gwayne's horse would be adorned with this complex interlace that seems to be woven with protective powers. even if gwayne (or others) didn't literally believe that interlace had those kind of powers, the fact that he still made the choice to invoke the idea of protection against harm and evil is a lovely thought. (it makes me think of how people today still might carry a rabbit's foot or have charms against the evil eye, even if they don't actually place stock in the beliefs surrounding those objects. I just think it's cool that generations of cultural belief still imbue these objects with a kind of magical aura). I just like the idea that he (or someone else?? otto? alicent? his mother?) chose armor that might have been associated with protection against harm

and now I'll finally wrap up!!

I have returned 👹👹👹 (with the courage to let go of anonymity). A lot has happened in life recently, and I stopped reading bc i was in such a depression. For a bit, I’d given up on really anything.

I FLEW through the latest chapters, ate them up and then licked the plate as well. Alot has happened in the story since I last read, and holy SHIT. To say I’ve been climbing the walls is an understatement. I’ve scaled the walls and hung from the ceiling of the little house in my brain several times over, like a damn spider. 👹

Dear reader/OC has been through. So much. 😞 I admire her strength, I adore her will. The Feral 👹 in my head is pleased to see her shirk her softness for claws and teeth. To do what must be done. But I hate that she was pushed so far, far enough to need her claws and teeth to survive.

It’s an interesting feeling, to be in my own slump and processing my own trauma, and then come back to find OC in a similar place. We’re together in that, and the feral creature that prowls my head and heart has wrapped herself around OC in my mind, has chosen to become soft fur and warmth, for her and for me. For now we will rest together.

The relationship between me and OC, in my mind, is similar to a personality split. She isn’t me, but she is part of me. Her experience is my experience. Her pain is mine to hold. The feral thing living in my brain is similar, though we ARE the same. She is me, like the flip side of a coin. I’m not sure how else to explain the feeling.

Anyway, back to the story 💀 I still have a lot of love for Ghost, and feel like his quiet strength would be comforting in this moment. But he could’ve, and should’ve, questioned Price, said something. ANYTHING. Tried to convince him. And yet he didn’t, and look where we are. He didn’t make the call. But he was part of the decision, by not questioning it. And he continues to let OC suffer because he’s still too afraid of himself and his own vulnerability to do what she needs.

I still have a lot of love for ghost, but The Feral in me would bare teeth and growl a warning, from her spot twisted around OC like a living blanket, if he came too close right now.

I can’t wait to see where we go from here, and I continue to deeply adore your writing style. Everything you detail is so enchanting, it feels like truly being able to experience what I read. 🫶🏻

Perhaps the next time I slink in, the feral in me will have more energy to send in an ask with more umph. This ask doesn’t have the same energy the ones before did. Regardless, we felt a check-in was due. 😌👹😌

✨️Joy is lesbian, I think this is because of the book "Driven By Emotions" which, from Joy's perspective, clearly says that she and sadness need each other. And a very funny scene in the film shows her being disgusted by her imaginary boyfriend lol.

About her being demigirl, i believe she doesn't consider herself a 100% girl, but I don't really like that idea. Maybe she considers herself 90% lol.

💦Sadness is bisexual, again the case of joyness supports this headcanon. They are very cute together, and I always thought that Sadness had a slight crush on joy.

However, we still have the scene with the imaginary boyfriend in which she shows interest. And the scene at the end of the film where she points to the personality island of romantic Vampires.👀💕

🥦 Disgust is bi romantic, I thought this headcanon would be cool to include, there isn't one because I think so lol. I had made a joke that she and her alternate version like each other lol.

Asexual? Isn't it obvious that she would be disgusted by this?

In this "make your choice" book we have the option of putting disgust together with anger to explore Riley's mind, and in part of the book anger and disgust admit that neither is that bad aawww^^💕 And Fear, he always had a crush on her so... why not?

💜Fear is bisexual! Again, the book "Forget This" gives the option for anger to go with fear to explore Riley's mind. We have very cute scenes between the two, and one of these scenes is about Fear receiving a gift from Anger (a teddy bear). The disgust in early versions of the film was a fear crush, and in a way, it continued to be so. Does that mean he likes them both? For me, yes!🏳️‍🌈

Is fear polymorous? I really like the three of them together, so...YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!

🔥Anger is pansexual and as I already explained, it has its moments of fear and disgust (I won't explain it again, the text is too long lol)!

MC would admire his body as he fought, she couldn't help but bite her lip at times, his muscles, glistening with sweat, it was enough to send her over the edge everytime. He'd got done with the fool in the ring, and glanced over towards her, she smiled and gave him a little clap, he shot her a wink, baring a fang with a wide smirk before he climbed out of the ring heading towards the showers. MC started doing some things she'd needed to finish before she walked past the shower area as he was coming out in his towel.

His cheeky smile made her blush as he looked down at her, moving forward, forcing her back into a wall in the corridor they stood in, trapping her between him and bricks, his arm also leaning on the wall above her head. She found herself blushing even more with how close he was to her, her eyes traveled up his chest to meet his eyes, he bared his fangs again with a smile, knowing exactly what he was doing. This wouldn't of been the first time the two had hooked up, it had happened a number of times, nothing emotional, just sex, he was the kinda guy who knew what he wanted and got it, and she just so happend to be one of his regular picks, part of the pack. He leaned his head down, licking up the side of her neck with chuckle, MC letting out a small mewl as she then felt his teeth give her skin a little bite, he whispered in her ear, as his other hand trailed down her body, gripping at her hip.

Rowan: Get in the bathroom..

MC: *giggles* Rowan, I've got some things I need to finish.

Kennedy was originally designed by @psygull and given to me as a gift!!

He was The Jersey Devil reimagined as a high School athlete so I named him Kennedy (jock name) Leeds (name of the family from Jersey Devil folklore)

He meets Bambi (aka enters the story) at 18

He's got a small crush on Jak L., but is trying to find the right way to ask her out. He's seemingly oblivious to her flirtations with Bambi

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

Growing up with 12 other siblings kinda turned mealtime into a Battle Royale, so he'd visit the local food market in the evenings after school. His favorite dish comes from Ms. Hayes' stand; a bowl of fried rice topped with grilled catfish and garnished with Devil's Fruit (a sweet red fruit with two stems that look like little devil horns. Needs to be De-Hexed before eaten, otherwise it'll taste bitter & you could end up w/ a magical foodbourne illness)

His first time ice skating! When he was about 13 or so, the lake froze over and he was dared by Siblings 10, 9, & 7 to go skating across the thinnest part. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Kennedy went for it - just narrowly avoiding falling into the freezing water. He did still trip and chip a tooth on the ice, but the thrill and joy of skating never left him.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Coming home from school one day to find his mother bed ridden with blisters blooming into flower shaped scabs all across her body; Hexed by unclean food. The potion that could cure her required 'The Blood of the Beloved', but when Kennedy volunteered she told him point blank; "I don't love you enough for that to work."

He quit school to hunt down his dad shortly after.

He resents his father with his entire being. He passed down The Devil Curse onto him and instead of sticking around to help him learn how to deal with it, he left as soon as he was born. Kennedy doesn't understand what was so wrong with him that his dad couldn't be bothered to stay.

Wednesday WIP

Hello! 👋🏽 Nerdie here, I am working on a few things:

1. A second entry for @undercoverpena ‘s April Showers Challenge (maybe featuring an agent I haven’t written for a bit). I had a burst of an idea which was different than the original one I had. Such is a Nerdie brain. Don't get lost in there, but there are cookies.

2. Finally progress of my “Wedding 101 with Dieter” fic! I had been having trouble with it. I’m happy to have more Maya, Dieter and Daisy. 🤭 I apologize to @angelofsmalldeath-codeine in advance for any undue stress I shall cause you.

3. Going to finish up my short Frankie body part series which sounds menacing but is the opposite. 😂 Very much so lol It’s called “Only Parts of you Mr. Morales.”

4. I’m working on a Javier Peña series because I feel like I need to give him something nice. Just one thing. 😆 It's very sweet, I have 2 chapters and no idea what to call it. Pfft, go figure. No idea how long it will be - sorry, won't be ready for a bit. Between Javier P and Joel recent. I need to be nice to them. They’re both very haunted. 😖

5. I'm still working on both Din fics and Benny. I'm redoing the outlines. Bullet points are friends and not our enemies. I think. Will there be more random Star Wars people? Is Obi Wan Kenobi a children’s author and Luke that old man who swings his lightsaber in the yard?! Both these things are true. 😌 Messing with Star Wars canon one character at a time. 😂😂😂 The sweet Din fic will remain so. My walking pile of nervous Beskar. 💚

Anyway, somehow, I went from being stuck in chapter five for 'Weddings 101 with Dieter' to now being in chapter six. I'd like to thank Hemmy for being so encouraging and @megamindsecretlair for discussing Pedro and Oscar with me the other night. I feel like I should make notes and keep both of those in mind for future fics because it's the right thing to do.🫡 Just thinking about it is… 🫠

greatest hits of 2023 🥳✨ happy hogmanay!

1. i celebrated my 30th birthday and got thoroughly spoiled. my sister took me to belfast. we saw the sights and got hoolit, having a blast!! i hosted a joint housewarming (a year later hahaha) and 30th w the fam at my wee hoose too and it was braw too 🥰

2. i took part in nano and doubled my word count for my own original novel!! i picked it up again after months of it sitting collecting dust and thanks to the discord homies i was able to keep on top of it, stay motivated, and get excited about it again!! forever grateful for that 🩷

3. i took a scary step and left a job i'd been in for 10 years (majority of it spent unhappy in it hahaha but thanks to work besties i endured 😤🩷) and got a new one!!!! it is something completely different and much more challenging and enjoyable (and more pay 😌✌️). love it

4. lots and lots of reading!! i managed to squeeze in one more book today to hit 100 books read this year!! i went on so many adventures it was so much fun!!

5. lots of excellent holidays. we went to loch tay, aviemore, isle of harris, and the isle of skye. lots of adventures were had!

6. my sister got engaged!! i was such a proud big sister and couldn't be happier for the two of them 🩷

7. my sister picked me as her maid of honour for her wedding and i legit cried when she told me hahahaha but i'm so happy!! looking forward to it 🥰

8. my bestie and i are keeping going strong w our the x files podcast, which mainly involves us screeching over msr. we have the best laughs and so much fun. we're getting close to almost half way through season 2!

9. new kitchen!!!! i bought and picked out a new kitchen for my wee flat and it's getting installed next week. buzzing to finally having a working oven hahaha and creating a wee place which is all me 💚

10. 2 months into my new home, at the start of the year, i hosted a hen night for my cousin in my house and it was a hit! i was so pleased w my hosting abilities haha

honourable mention - that random few weeks where i did "pizza and prosecco fridays" hahahaha where i got a create your own pizza from the shops for my tea and a wee bottle of prosecco (enough for only 1 glass) and challenged myself to write a royai oneshot in that evening. it got me write back into writing for royai which was exciting!! and i had never truly appreciated the reality of finally working a mon -fri, 9-5 job until then. it was delightful in the longer evenings 🥰
