A tear falls down your face and lands on your lap. You are trying to think about how to tell Max and Charles the news. You’ve put yourself in every scenario, but every single one of them ends with them leaving you.

The front door being opened startles you.

“Honey, we’re home!” Charles says and giggles, Max joining his boyfriend.

You wipe your tears in record time.

They know something is wrong when you won’t meet their eyes as soon as they enter the room.

Max calls your name and you’re forced to look up at them, plastering a smile. “How was padel?”

“Something happened?” Max touches your face and body, searching for an injury. But he doesn’t find anything wrong.

“What’s — ” Charles swallows, green eyes fixed on the pregnancy test by your side. “What’s that?”

You start crying again. That wasn’t how you wanted them to find out.

“I’m so sorry,” You sob, hiding behind your hands but two warm and soft hands pull them away.

Charles and Max are kneeled in front of you, both of them with tears in his eyes.

“Why are you crying, baby?” Max asks softly, rubbing the back of your hand. “Aren’t you happy?”

You look at him for a second, then at Charles, but not a word is spoken; they just wait for you to be ready.

“I don’t want to have it.” It’s the first thing that leaves your lips for what feels like hours. “I don’t want this baby to come between us and your jobs and ev—”

“Shh, it’s okay.” Charles sits by your side and places a comforting hand in the back of your head.

“I’m sorry. I really am sorry.” You wipe away the tears that don’t stop falling from your eyes.

Max shakes his head, a few tears streaming down his face. “You don’t need to be sorry, okay? There’s nothing to be sorry about.” He kisses your hands.

“Is that why you don’t want to have the baby?” Your Monégasque boyfriend asks, frowning. “Do you want to have it?”

“It doesn’t matter what I want.”

“But it does matter!” They say at the same time and you fight back the urge to start crying again.

“If you’re thinking about not having this baby for fear that is gonna come between us, you’re wrong.” Max stands up and starts walking around the room, hands on his hips. “I love you, baby. But you’re not doing us any favor.”

“What do you mean?” You look at him from beneath your wet eyelashes.

Charles cups your cheek, making you look at him. “It means that if you want to have this baby, we will be more than happy. And if you really don’t want to — then we will respect your decision.”

“Whatever you decide,” Max nods, a little smile on his lips. “But don’t make a decision based on what you think is best for me and Charles.”

“I — I want to have the baby.” You smile. The first real smile since you found out you’re pregnant. “You’re not mad?”

“Why would we be mad?” Charles genuinely asks.

Max snorts, “I’m trying really hard to stay calm. But I want to tell the whole world about it.”

You giggle, cheeks heating up. It’s incredible how you can go from being sad and anxious to happy and relieved in just a few minutes.

“I think we should wait a few weeks to tell the news.” Your boyfriends’ faces light up, two big and bright smiles directed at you. “We need to go to the doctor first and make sure everything is okay.”

Max starts crying again while Charles takes you in his arms and spins you around.

That night the three of you go to bed very tired after spending the day looking for baby names and bigger houses on the market, because according to your boyfriends: ‘we’re not stopping at one.’

tim getting a job as a car mechanic after college, brian always coming by to bother him during his shifts to the point where all of tim's coworkers just know brian and don't question what hes doing there anymore. brian going around and reccomending tim's services to all his friends to give him more business, since he knows tim is struggling financially. and one day two fucking losers roll up in the shittiest car tim has ever seen. the driver is scrawny and taller than him with fidgety hands and a distant expression, and the passenger has a nuetral, bored look on his face, constantly pushing his glasses back up his nose as he explains what he THINKS the problem might be. tim checks it out and nope, thats not the problem at all, in fact hes surprised the car is still running with all thats wrong with it. the drivers name turns out to be jay, and this is his car, but he just let Glasses do all the talking for some reason. tim isnt surprised because Glasses seems perfectly happy to talk enough for all three of them. he says he wont be able to get the car fixed up in one day, and theyll need to come back for it in a few days. he asks if they have someone to give them a ride home. Glasses says they do, and lo and behold, ten minutes later tim's best friend brian rolls up in his convertible, greeting Glasses- alex like theyre besties.

and then when everything with suguru goes down it gets even nicer and he goes more often because this is the one place that he doesn't have to think about the tragedy of his best friend and how hE CouLDnT StOp iT and hes supposed to be the strongest but he cant save what he truly wants to so what does it even mean (iT DOeSnt MEaN ANytHiNg) but theres this little kid who's eyes crinkle when he sees him and has this bright sunflower smile and treats him to ice cream with his meagre allowance whenever gojo shows up unnanounced on his porch and never asks him questions he can't answer.

and satoru shouldve known better shouldve thought about it more but its not in his nature to worry (he cant afford it he'll crack under the weight of it and theres too many cracks already he'll lose himself he'll do whatever he has to so that they can be safe so that hes not a killer anymore even if it means rivers of red running over the surface of the earth dying the oceans (hes always liked the color ReD)) and so he hoards yuuji to himself for a while and it pleases hiim soothes the ripped open wounds inside him and he could keep him like this forever this kid this little friend of his Itadori Yuuji but that would kill him wouldnt it and the brightness of his little sunflower face so he doesnt because theres no fun to games once theyre over and the beauty of living things is in the vibrance of them the unexpectedness that only comes from living so he doesnt he doesnt he wont

and they fight and they fight and they train and they train and in the end its not enough because HE (useless weak sentimental foolish blind reckless arrogant SuGUrU) falls into a trap and he shouldve known shouldve KNOWN he knew better but his worthless heart always was the worst part of him not a god not a man (are you gojo satoru because youre the strongest or are you the strongest because youre gojo satoru)

on chises family, “a storm brewing in the east,” and future arcs

[ive written this post before, but its due for a refresh. now that jasper has been introduced, the whole last half of that post is moot, and i have additional thoughts on chika as well as more context on my thoughts on yori.]

now that fumiki is back in the picture, id like to theorize that yuuki hatori will soon follow. [see post: yori is fumiki and heres why.] more attention being paid to chises life in japan [ch 50, 75], chise wondering why her father “abandoned his role" [ch 57], and elias expressing curiosity over the circumstances that led her to meet seth [ch 74] are all hints towards yuukis story coming to light

one thing TAMB does that i love is how tertiary characters are facsimiles meant to help us understand our main characters. for example, all the dysfunctional pairs we see in the first arc that we are meant to compare and contrast elias and chise to, all in various ways that help us understand the ways their relationship might evolve. these minor characters may seem unimportant, but are preparing us to accept developments in the main cast. i believe there are two characters in the college arc that are prepping us for yuuki hatoris story - seth noel and adam sargent

lets first address fumiki, who ill just call yori. yori seems to have mastery over his eyes, which “have the power to bind [fae]” according to gabriella [ch 51]. this is a power both he and yuuki have, which protects chise and chika for a time. however, chika implies that he didnt always have this ability, or perhaps didnt have the sight at all until he became involved with her. which is strange, considering yori has a “family business” important enough to require he study abroad to train for:

(id like to note that this line about training is almost certainly a result of his "reeducation" in italy, as we already know that his true purpose was to audit and replace simon. but i think theres at least a kernel of truth to it)

lets run with the idea that yuuki started off with weak or nonexistent powers. have any other men in this series been booted from their families because they lacked the skill?

its possible that this “family business,” assuming it exists in truth and is not a fabrication of yoris brainwashing (which i dont think it is, considering he seems specialized in exorcism), eventually learned that yuuki acquired his binding powers, as well as a child with the same ability. again, are there are other men who are forcibly dragged back to their family, to the detriment of their young daughters?

theres a few reasons why i think such care and time was put into the backstory of philomelas family. chise has done much of the character growth thats possible for her at this time, and attempts to “fix” philomela as a way of fixing herself. she projects on her, and for good reason too, since we are meant to compare them almost 1:1. i believe that the amount of time sunk into adam sargents story is meant to warm us up to understanding yuukis situation, regardless of whether we are meant to forgive him for his abandonment. seths story, too, introduces us to the idea of magical families booting their unworthy kin. which leads us to:

going back to the screencap for the beginning, lets give yuuki the benefit of the doubt and assume hes being truthful when he promises hell be back one day. this phrasing is really interesting, and i feel like it implies yuuki knows the place hes going is dangerous. if hes returning to his family, or to some sort of organization (which i say because yori is part of the church), perhaps hes afraid that theyll be taken advantage of. or… maybe he was just lying! there is very little we understand about the church, so there are all manner of reasons why yuuki and yori may have ended up involved with them

regardless of reason, i dont believe that yuuki left because he wanted to. rather, i think he was being summoned. lets look at this little fae that appears twice, just pages apart:

this weasel-like creature appears as soon as yuuki gets home in the first instance, and appears again immediately before yuuki packs up to leave. it looks distinctly different from the abstract, blight-like monsters that trail this family day to day, and id like to theorize that it is specifically keeping tabs on yuuki. in my theory post about yori, i wrote that the fox yori keeps in a tube [ch 51] is a kuda-kitsune, a sort of familiar kept by soothsayers. another word for this type of creature is 飯綱, or izuna, which is read in modern japanese as... the least weasel! yamazaki has solidified her reputation as someone who doesnt shirk on research, and i think this linguistic connection is enough to suppose whether the weasel that summons yuuki home came from the same source as yoris familiar

now, to discuss something i neglected to mention in the first version of this post. the ways in which we can compare philomelas and chises families doesnt end with yuuki. not only is alcyone a sort of elias, but iris is a sort of chika. id like to start with noting that iris' backstory of having been sold by her parents is a reflection of the original backstory yamazaki wrote for chise in the first drafts of TAMB. the dregs of chises old backstory finally gets used when iris' story is revealed:

iris and chika are two mothers who deeply love their children, but are doubtful that they will be able to protect them when it counts:

this next part might be a little controversial, but id like to take a look at the scene when chika snaps. specifically, the way her inner voice is framed:

the black mist that we see in the apartment is similar to other depictions of malevolent magical energy weve seen before, such as the blight elias creates just one chapter before in ch 41 when he languishes over chise leaving him. it also seems to be pouring in from the same window where we've seen the weasel hanging out. the way chikas intrusive thoughts are depicted as a separate, shadowy figure is also remarkably similar to chises inner voice that tells her to kill the nucke-lavee:

its possible that the voice that urges chika to kill chise is coming from somebody else entirely. like how chises curse[s] urge her to violence, i think theres a chance that someone wanted chise and chika to die, but didnt want to get their hands dirty. after all, if the family yuuki left behind died, he would stop trying to leave to reunite with them or retrieve them. being able to frame their deaths as a result of his abandonment would also be great manipulation fodder if he was summoned to wherever he went against his will

to be a naysayer of my own theory, i think it would cheapen chikas death if it turned out that she was not wholly responsible for her own actions. it would also make chises refusal to forgive her less impactful if it... literally wasnt her fault. but the way her attempt to kill chise is visually depicted makes me think theres a nonzero chance she truly didnt want to do it

lets take a look at the way iris' and chikas deaths are depicted:

the visual of billowing curtains was often used in early chapters when it wasnt yet clear what happened to chises mother, and it gets used again when iris dies. and just as chika throws herself off the balcony, alcyone leaps through the window with philomela. im also stuck on the line of "we messed up and let his daughter escape." i dont mean to imply that i think we should hold up philomela and chises respective backstories as 100% 1:1, but they are remarkably similar in terms of broad plot points. if the same force that compelled yuuki to leave also compelled chika to get rid of the remains of yuukis old life, i wonder why it is that no one ever directly tried to kill chise again. did they lose track of her when she began moving from home to home?

speaking of... do we know whether chika took yuukis surname when they married, or the other way around? japanese law requires spouses to have the same last name, but husbands will sometimes take their wifes name. as far as i know, theres no explicit confirmation that the hatori family chise stays with in the OVA are related to yuuki or chika. just as seth changed his name when he was driven from the webster family, it could be that yuuki distanced himself from his past by taking chikas name. after all, if the hatoris who care for chise are truly so fed up with her, why would they not attempt to track down yuuki and "return" her if hes their relative?

(by the way, what yuuki did in taking fumiki was legal. japan is only just now going to start allowing joint custody in 2026, "parental child abduction" was not illegal at the time we're to suppose TAMB takes place, and yuukis disappearance can be considered an instance of jōhatsu. i just think its important for cultural context, because as a western reader i know i tripped up on "wait, WHY was yuuki allowed to do that without consequence?")

do i think that yuuki will ever physically appear in the story again now that fumiki has? i would love him to, but i dont know that chise will ever be allowed the closure of seeing his point of view:

theres such a sense of finality to this line. just as philomela was only able to speak to her father in the form of a curse taking his shape, i dont know that chise will have the luxury of meeting yuuki again. theres a strong possibility that hes already dead, especially if he persisted in attempting to reunite with the rest of his family. frankly, i always thought he looked unhappy with his life in the scenes from ch 42, but his instinct in wanting to bring chise with him makes me believe that only death would ensure he never tried to see or support her again. though, if this is a safe space for me to express a little self-indulgence:

we still dont know who sent yori to audit simon. the church is such a large organization ("a loose collection of private armies," as gabriella puts it in this same chapter) that yori being taken to be reeducated by another branch of the same organization that sent him to audit simon in the first place is not unusual or contradictory. let me first state that i dont think yori has ever been aware that he has a sister, or that he knows chise is in any way related to him (again, this post supposes that yori is fumiki). but in my heart of hearts, in my very soul, i do think it would be just so wonderfully dramatic for yuuki - or any member of his family, for that matter - to send yori off to ensure that elias, and chise by association, are under the watchful eye of someone they can more reliably control. if chise was not worth anything to them when chika died, perhaps their interest in her is piqued now that shes a mage-in-training under the apprenticeship of a vastly powerful creature. even if its not yuuki trying to figure out what the deal is with the mage who bought his daughter, perhaps his family is interested in how she can contribute to them

again, to be a naysayer to my own theories before someone else can be, i doubt that yoris reeducation and months-long stay with simon would be overlooked if a member of yuukis family sent him for the initial auditing. though theres a chance alonza had a hand in making sure his stay with simon continues. we just have to wait and see

under what context might we meet the rest of chises family? i have some ideas, but this soon into the arc everything is too subject to change. im also not convinced any of this will be addressed in the fiendbane arc. after all, yori was first introduced at the beginning of the college arc, and is only now becoming relevant. so all of this may only be laying the groundwork for yuuki to return in another arc, if not this one, which already has a lot cooking with the dragon, the new mage, etc. but then again, we get oberons little prophecy:

it doesnt seem that oberons phrasing in the JP text matches what the great wall of china is called in japanese, but i dont think we are meant to interpret "a distant land" in any way other than japan. yamazaki has a quirky tendency to refer to japan in her works as a faraway land in the east, which extends to spinoffs like wizards blue

with the growing interest elias has expressed in chises life before she met him, and with the appearance of yori, perhaps we will learn more about yuukis story and circumstances when the brewing storm finally breaks. her family may even have something to do with it! but i doubt that any of this will come to fruition during the current arc. so until we get the next arc several years from now... ill leave you with this theory!

i hope we get to see eli trying to apologize to demetri and of course at first it doesnt work demteri isnt answering him barely looking at him argued about sitting next to him for the trip he tries offering demteris favorite snacks or they can watch his favorite movie he even shares news on something he knows would normally have demetri light up and talking for the next hour but he gets a snide remark and then more silence which even at the hotel finding they are sharing a room eli can tell demetri is holding back another argument since johnny already told him of he has to hear another stupid argument there will be violence

so in the room they both lay there tension thick and eli breaks first frustrated he doesnt know what demetri wants from him hes already apologized hes tried to make it up what else could demetri want for him to beg for forgiveness then please forgive me for not telling you about mit and for calling yoy annoying all mighty demetri and that seems to do something cause demetris rushing out of the room even though they arent suppose to leave which just alarms eli cause when has demetri broken rules and in a place they both dont know

Rushing into the halls and past Daniel who apprently had just caught miguel,sam,and robby all sneaking around who has to grab him by the shoulder to slow him down and reminds him they aren't suppose to leave their rooms turning him to lead him back but eli pushes him off he needs to go do something very important he has to make something right he will go back as soon as its over please and Daniel ponders for a moment staring at eli who is giving his best desperate puppy eyes and so daniel gives in makes it sound like hes yelling at eli to go back and whisper if he isnt in 20 hell send johnny to get him instead

And so hes off running and jumping down flights of stairs the elevator taking to long he doesnt know where demetri would have gone and the hotel isnt too massive but itd take longer than 20 to search the whole thing fonally reaching the lobby he paces eyes scanning the small crowd he wouldnt go far as to not get lost (or kidnapped dont you know the how high the rates of boys like us getting snatched by some creep)

Thats when he spots a sign for some sort of garden courtyard and some part of him is certain that's where hell be so he makes his way pushing the door into the cooler night air its a decent size area lined with benches and seating areas all under canopy of trees and tall bushes blowing gently in the wind litering the ground in shadows theres two lamp posts on either side leaving the corners as thr perfect hide away he knows to keep quiet or demteri will run off before he can get close and theyll be back to square one

He squints into the darkness looking for any sign it isnt until he catches a glimpse of demteris red snoopy pj bottoms he stops in his tracks he hasnt been seen yet he can hear sniffling and knows demetris hugging himself curled over his knees as he tries to keep his sobs quiet hes seen it plently of times when hed get injured by whoever decided to beat them that day or when his parents were first going through their divorce maybe he hated eli seeing him as weaker or maybe he just didnt want eli to feel bad either way it always made elis heart hurt to see his friend like that and its devastating now that he is the cause of it

He takes a deep breath before calling out his name gently but it doesnt matter demteris jumping up and backing away quickly wiping his face of any evidence telling him to go away and leave him alone throwing in a your not suppose to leave the room after dark which eli cant help the tiny chuckle as he points out neither was demetri which as them both standing there demteri looking down at glancing occasionally at eli and any exit he can find adding onto elis mountain of guilt he thinks i could still be a threat so he stay in the same spot but begs demetri to please just tell me how to fix this

And course demetri whos hugging himself shrugs theres nothing to fix everythings fine course he has to be difficult thinking eli is like his mom who would believe him rather than push and get into a round bout argument he never did find out what he told her about his broken arm and so eli stands his ground presses only getting biting remarks back until they are both yelling staff members and sensis and karate war be damned

and soon it finally comes out demetri yelling that eli doesnt even want him in elis life again so whats the point in fixing things which tales eli by surprise demetri taking his silence as shameful agreement he lists off how eli thinks hes better how he thinks demetri doesnt even deserve to be here or how hes closer to the gang than demetri so why would he even need to hang around nerdy loser demetri or go to the same school when he can go off and be mister cool wherever he goes without demetri dragging him down how demetri will end up .. all alone without his best friend again who wants nothing to do with him and is fine without him and he just doesnt understand how after everything theyve been through to just throw him away again when its convenient for him all the while demetris the fool who loves eli though it all anyways

and they both just stand there in stunned silence only disrupted by a security guard coming out calling out to whoevers been making all the noise to come out and before eli can even turn to look towards the direction of the voice demetris grabbing his arm and pulling him after him exiting the yard from the otherside the gaurd yelling after them and soon they are running through halls and hiding around corners to try and make it back up to the room dodging staff and even Johnny and Daniel who are certainly looking for them now

after demteri shoves them into an elevator leaving them both panting as they ride up eli can help but ask love? causing demetri to huff cause of pf course thats what he focuses on and before he can say anything else the elevator dings and they are jogging back to their room eli getting there first they can hear the sensis aruging and thats when eli realizes he doesnt have a key demetri calls him an idiot harshlely under his breath producing a key as they spill into the room turning the lights off and standing by the door both jumping when Johnny bangs on it yelling that they better be in there nerds

They both share a panicked look before they are rustling eachother up to make it look like theyve been sleeping and demetri is opening the door squinty eyed acting very confused and stubbornly innocent eli coming up behind playing his innocence up as well Johnny can only squint at them while eli and Daniel share a knowing look and soon they leave telling them they better not be out again its only when after the door is shut they both sigh in relief and soon find themselves giggling the air lighter between them

Its demetri who turns away first stating its late and they should go to sleep if they plan on actually winning tomorrow climbing into his bed barely getting under the covers before eli is jumping onto of him smile big on his face as he leans over his body demetri scowls and tells him to get off and go to bed but elis too giddy to happy it makes sense now all clicking and he probably is more brawn than brains at this point cause how could he not see maybe he didnt want to at somepoint but its always been there demetri loves him which is a given but this is different kind and its suddenly the only thing in elis life that makes sense after everything demetri was still there for him going out his way to check up on him to make him laugh to include him even in his future the way he looks at him during training even now as demetri still lays theres not pushing him away and telling him he looks stupid and to get off again and the answer is so clear and he knows hes looking at him like he always has like he was the his earths sun stars and moon

And demetris gone quiet watching him closely with baited breath and eli leans down they are almost nose to nose whispering if he really meant it that he loved him he so vlose he can see the tears slowly well up in demetris eyes thinking eli is being cruel hell make fun of him soon enough use it against him whatever part of hawk survived scares him so all he can do is nod taking in a shaky breath as the tears run down eli cupping his face gently wiping the tears with his thumbs smiling softly as he shushes him and whispers reassurances neither sure who closed the distance as lips meet tentatively and softly at first turning into much more confident eagerness demetris sitting up to run his fingers through elis hair eli clinging to demetris t-shirt only pulling when both desperately need air its only then that eli with the sight of a flustered demetris pecks his cheeks and whispers love into his ear

for context, the song comes right after all of mal's closest friends and her fiance have just been turned to stone. unless she can find a way to turn them back, they are - for all intents and purposes - dead, essentially. and, as she says in the song, its her fault. i dont 100% agree with that, but its not the bit i want to pick at

no, what id like to rant about is the fact that the whole song - the whole song - is her talking about how she needs to fix it because its not how she wants to be remembered. what?! im sorry, her friends have been turned to stone and shes concerned about whether she'll be portrayed as a hero in history books? what the fuck.

allow me to point to a song that achieved exactly what mouat shouldve: the next right thing, from frozen 2. in this song, anna learns her sister is dead, because olaf (who's life relies on elsa) dies in her arms. anna's song shows how she picks herself back up, not for herself but because she has people relying on her who need her. because its the right thing to do. not because she wants to be seen as a saviour, but because she wants to save the lives of everyone still in danger. shes already lost her sister, she doesnt want to lose her kingdom, her people, too.

tnrt in frozen 2 was an impactful and emotional moment. mouat in d3 showed mal brushing off the fact her friends were gone and instead focused on her reputation. and i get it - i get that the whole point of the descendants trilogy was that you get to write your own story, and that nobody is wholly good or bad, and that youre in control of your own decisions and whether they help or hurt - but this should be a moment of pure emotion for mal as she recognises how her own actions have led to the loss of her friends, but that she has to carry on if she ever wants a chance to save them; to save everyone. it should not be focused on her being good for the sake of reputation

and, to add to this, im fully aware that throughout the three movies, we see how mal values other people's perception of her, especially so at the start of d2, and then again at the start of d3 both as her role as future queen, and when she doesnt tell her isle friends that it was her call to keep the barrier closed. shes afraid of how theyll see her, yes, but we had the character growth during d2 where mal became more confident about not fitting with the perfect princess look (represented by her transformation into the dragon, and continued use of such magic despite it coming from her evil mother, as well as her dress changing from auradonion colours to her signature purple), so any insecurities there shouldve been wrapped up. and her lies in d3 were, ultimately, for the good of everyone, and only temporary. the barrier had to stay closed until they could figure out a way for it to be safe for everyone. if she had let them bring down the barrier too soon and a villain had caused chaos, then that would ruin the chances of the barrier ever coming down forever. and if she had told her friends - specifically evie - that it was her call, then she knew that evie would convince her to change her mind. but changing her mind at that point was not for the greater good, therefore she lied. as much as a small amount of it was for her reputation among her friends, it was also for the good of auradon and the isle

therefore i refuse to believe that muoat shouldve been focused wholly on her reputation. we know mal cares so much about her friends and about ben, so why didnt the song dive into that? why were we not looking at her guilt, or her determination to carry on so that she could save her loved ones and her home? why, instead, did we focus so hard on the way she wants to be remembered for her heroics and good deeds?

i also understand that mal may be compartmentalising to an extent, by ignoring her own grief for her friends and instead focusing her attention elsewhere to keep herself going. she very clearly does have insecurities about her decisions and her role in auradon, so it would make sense to distract herself with that rather than letting herself break down over her friends. if this was what they intended, though, i think it was poorly done. at least, i certainly wouldnt have brushed past it quite so nonchalantly. mal hardly seemed to care that her friends had been turned to stone after the first - what - two lines of the song? and even then all she says is that she deserves it. she deserves it?? like it had just been a shove in the playground or something, and not an attack on her loved ones - one that, remember, could very well result in her losing them forever

quite literally, her only lines in the song about losing her friends are: "here you are alone and you deserve it // your friends have turned to stone and thats on you" and that is it. everything else is about her story being written, or about serving a cause, or her reputation not being linked to her parents'

i really do not like this song. i havent watched d3 for over a year, so i do apologise if ive missed/forgotten important context, but from everything i remember and listening to the song itself, i do not believe it does the moment justice. i want to rewrite it one day, ive no idea if i ever will or how, but i dont like it the way it is.

aita for getting into a screaming match with a neighbour after he harrassed me for months for being sick?

im gonna start this by saying i dont *think* im the asshole. i more just wanted to share this insane story and maybe get some other points of view on it.

i (22nb) got really sick back in april. like rush to a&e multiple times sick. i tested multiple times but it wasnt covid. it later turns out my cold-like symptoms and my horrendous cough were caused by allergies. it took about 3 months to finally dull it down and feel okay again. i take meds everyday and im still not 100% because the allergen (pollen) persists.

but in this 3-month period of me being sick we found we kept getting knocks on our door. it was our upstairs neighbour (approx 50m). the first time he knocked at 3 in the morning to complain about how my coughing was keeping him awake. he rambled through the door for like 15 minutes about my coughing and demanded we move our bed to the front room so he couldnt hear my coughing anymore.

i, having already been feeling guilty and anxious about being sick because my fiancé (27m) had to take care of me and i lost my job over the situation, decided i was gonna go for a walk. i was really upset and i wanted some fresh air (which at the time i thought would help).

the next morning, the neighbour came down again to inform us that we should keep sleeping in the front room until i recover because he slept so great that night. we informed him that we in fact did not sleep in the front room and i hadnt even been in the flat.

a few days go by and we get another knock at the door. its thankfully daytime and hes talking through the door again. hes demanding that we move into the front room because we are the ones causing the noise disturbance. (once again, i am very sick. paramedics were round at our house 2 days prior to look me over).

we say no to this and he says hes going to get our estate agent to resolve this because we, and i quote, "are being selfish".

a few more days pass and our estate agents inform us that theyre coming to do an inspection. naturally they get here and they want to know my fiancé and i's side of the story. we tell them im very sick and they are very understanding because the neighbour said as much when they put in the noise disturbance complaint. they tell us not to worry and theyll tell the neighbour that hes being silly.

two or three weeks go by and we hear nothing. until one day, whilst my fiancé is at work, he decides to harrass me personally because he knows im home alone. he demands to know exactly what im doing to fix this, tells me how its bothering our other neighbours (who had said nothing to us) and tells me its affecting his quality of life. (i was the one coughing so hard i was vomiting for about two weeks but his quality of life was the one inconvenienced???) in the end, he slinks off back upstairs like usual and i then ring the estate agents to complain about his continued harrassment.

this happens again another time when my fiancé and we start arguing through the door again. it was pretty much like the last few times.

but then, heres where we might be the assholes of the story. after weeks of repeated knocks and lengthy complaints and demands, he knocks again. it was 8am, my fiancé was still sleeping for work. my fiancé woke up to him complaining at me through the door again and lost it. this man was knocking to ask if it was okay to move back into his bedroom because the coughing seemed to have gone down. he wanted us to assure him that i wouldnt get sick again. we opened the door to him for the first time (after giving warning) and got into a screaming match with him. of course in the time it took between giving warning and opening the door, he had scurried upstairs and was yelling at us from there.

i think theres a possibility we are the assholes because the screaming match would have been heard by our downstairs neighbour who was not involved in this at all. we did write him a letter to apologise for this but i still feel kinda shitty about it.

i went back to the estate agents after and reported him again saying if they didnt deal with him, id look into taking legal action for harrassment. its been about a month now and weve heard nothing from him since.
