Fanfiction Masterlist.
(Updated 7/15/24)
I started writing again in March, and I now find myself the mother author of nine fanfics. I figure it's time I make one of these. I'll pin this post to the top of my Tumblr and update as more works are added.
So here's a masterlist of my children stories, favorites first in no particular order.
It's all Royai and Zutara Trash so if you're not into that, move along.
The Counteroffer
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 2.7K
On the eve of Mustang’s inauguration as Fuhrer, Riza Hawkeye submits her resignation.
My very first Royai fanfic, and my first attempt at creative writing in literal years.
(light angst with a happy ending)
Hourglass
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 1.6K
Riza Hawkeye never intended on living past age thirty-two. It wasn’t that she wanted to die. She simply did not expect to live.
Written for Royai Week 2024, Day 5: Gift
(angst with a happy ending)
The Art of Living On
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 3.9K
She has never done this. Has avoided it at all costs. Because she is unfit, she tells herself. Her hands are made for firearms and filing office paperwork, not soothing fussy babies. Her edges are too sharp, too jagged to provide comfort to anyone. She is scarred and bloodied and barely knows the love of a mother herself.
But the baby wails, pleading.
Written for Royai Week 2024, Day 2: Appreciate
(domestic fluff, light angst with a happy ending)
Uncle Zuko
Katara x Zuko
Rating: T
Word count: 2.6K
Of all the things his hands have held - from dragon eggs and ancient texts to the element of Fire itself - this is by far the most precious, the most powerful: a new generation, one born into a world without war.
Zuko is forced to hold Sokka's baby, and feelings happen. I published this story years ago on FFN under a different title. This is the updated/revised version. I haven't written much of them lately, but Zuko & Katara are, and will always remain, my otp.
(domestic fluff)
Strong Whiskey and Slanted Light
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: G
Word count: 908
His team is alive. The Elric brothers have their bodies back. Havoc can walk again. And from her place in the driver’s seat, Riza Hawkeye - alive and breathing - glances sharply in his direction, brows raised in a rare moment of removing her attention from the road ahead. He doesn’t miss the way she winces at the sudden movement of her still-healing neck. “Sir?”
“It’s just a question, Lieutenant. I’m curious.”
Written for Royai Week 2024, Day 1: Curiosity
(light angst, mutual pining)
As You Were
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 2.4K
Maybe it’s the fact that she’s dropped his honorific.
Maybe it’s the fact that they are somehow both alive. Maybe it’s the fact that he can see her, when he’d believed with such certainty that he never would again. He can see her and she is beautiful, and for once he doesn’t understand why he ever chose to banish that thought from his mind when it is so clearly the truth.
(angst)
The Flame Alchemist's Daughter
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 6.4K
The ink is a burden. The knowledge is a curse.
Disclaimer: I wrote this before I fully understood the mechanics of Mustang's flame alchemy (I literally finished the series in March 2024; I'm new here, so my bad). I realized later that some of the implications here would not make sense in canon. That said, I still love this story. I'm proud of it and it's freaking fanfiction so who cares.
(angst)
Checkmate
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 1.6K
In the wake of his election victory, Roy Mustang makes a very important visit to Fuhrer President Grumman.
Prequel to "The Counteroffer."
(fluff, light angst)
Four
Riza Hawkeye x Roy Mustang
Rating: T
Word count: 2.2K
Each time he has laid eyes on Riza Hawkeye’s tattoo, the course of Roy Mustang’s life has been permanently altered.
(angst with a happy ending)

Thank you for the tags guys (@jules-writes-stories @fieldofdaisiies @highlordofkrypton)
1. How many works do you have on AO3? More than I realized. 18.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 552,788 Azris week put me over 500k and I forgot to document!!
3. What fandoms do you write for? ACOTAR
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Kerosene
So I Start to Say Goodbye ( I have started hyper fixating on the long fic this one inspired. It's .... so.... sad. Praying for a happy ending though)
Come Hel or High Lord ( I should really finish this one... ooops)
Mother Save Us From Your Twisted fate (send help... part two is struggling to get written)
By Solstice End (16,588 words)
5. Do you respond to comments? YES! I am here. to word vomit about the things I can't stop thinking about... I love to talk about them. TALK TO ME
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? sans keurig incident I think I have done a pretty good job of leaving everyone with something happy at the end. All eyes on Eris week though. It's not going to end well ... most angsty I guess would have to be Once Upon a Dream
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Kerosene OR Mother Save Us From Your Twisted fate because of the pain you had to go through to get there.
8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes but only where it makes sense in a story I am telling. Writing it is so embarrassing and I'm more into the emotional yearning of it all than how horny I can make something. I let other people fill that part of the fandom bc they are infinitely better at it than me.
9. Do you write crossovers? Come Hel or High Lord has the entire MAASiverse cast and I will NEVER do that again LOL.... It's so difficult to deal with all these personalities
10. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? When I was in High School my BFF and I handwrote Roswell (1999 version bc I am OLD) fanfic together. I WISH I could find those notebooks.
12. What is your all-time favorite ship? Forever in my heart of hearts it will be Satosugu for the absolutely beautiful tragedy that they are. They are PAINFUL to even think about but I love them more than anything. Azris is a CLOSE second and they are how I am funneling all of my Satosugu angst and pain bc writing for Satosugu is too painful and I don't think I would be good at it.
13. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I refuse to consider a world where I don't finish all of them HOWEVER... this one is going to give me the most trouble. I have a very specific vision and it's HARDDDDDDD ... When Even Moonlight Burns
14. What are your writing strengths? I'm hopeful that I paint the emotion of a scene as well as I feel I do sometimes
15. What are your writing weaknesses?  There are too many to list. I chase the dopamin and as a result... I am not craft focused. Vibes all the way
16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I am not fluent enough in anything else to be able to pull it off. I do enjoy reading and writing it in small quips and phrases though.
17. First fandom you wrote for? Again... Roswell (1999) and oh Buffy I think... first one I am actually writing and posting for though is ACOTAR
18. Favorite fic you’ve written? I am just really proud ot have been able to finish the monster of a fic that was Kerosene and will always love it for being my first but I have a couple coming up that the concepts make my toes curl and I can't wait to get out of my head!!! LIVE MY BABIES LIIIIVE (ironic bc my boys won't always lol)
Pressuring y'all next: @born-to-riot @acourtofladydeath @thelovelymadone @brunetterebel010

Twenty questions for fanfic writers
Thank you for the tags, @baronessblixen, @xxsksxxx, and @slippinmickeys~!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
50 (ooh.)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
47, 807
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The X-Files; and The Beauty and the Beast (1987), once.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
"Mr. Mulder, I Know Something About You"
"No More Paranormal than a Change of Wardrobe"
"Gold"
"The Next Chance"
"Celebration"
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yeppity yep!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Discounting the fics that partially resolve their angst in a second part, I've got to go with "I'm Tired", "What Must a Mother Go Through?", "Latkes", or "Did You Really Have to Bring That Thing?"
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
At least 3/4s of 'em. Today's example will be "Time Passing in Moments” (still has a hold on my fuzzy feelings.)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet-- I've seen it done to others, however.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Smut's not for me~
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
While opposed to crossovers on principle, I've written three-- ironic, I know, namely: my first ever fic Son of Egypt (Prince of Egypt lite), The Hospital Where You Slept (While You Were Sleeping lite), and "I Know You. It’s What I Do." (for @amplifyme, who introduced me to The Beauty and the Beast 1987 and went above and beyond to pass on resources and interest. Incredibly grateful.)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope! Don't expect them to get stolen, either, unless they're multichapter pieces.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! Not opposed, though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! I don't see it happening anytime soon, either, because my irl schedule is all over the place.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
MSR-- objectively, as well as personally.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have an idea blooming about reworking S8 in some way or form-- but there are already so many fics that tackle it from nearly every angle; so, I'll just reread those instead. (That, and I have to finish my S8 meta series; so....)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Pfffft... voice, I believe.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Characterization-- there's a reason I haven't created my own characters when writing, drawing, etc. ;)))
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not opposed; but I'd have to learn another language first.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars. Must have been in kindergarten or first grade.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Proud of 'em all-- especially the reception to "Son of Egypt"-- but Bill Scully's POV ("Mr. Mulder, I Know Something About You" series) was such an unexpected... everything. That, and the discussion between Mulder and Scully in "My Religious Convictions Are Hardly the Issue Here" were wound around a POVs I wanted to tackle.
Tagging (if you want~): @welsharcher, @agent-troi, @numinousmysteries, @skelavender, @virtie333, @suitablyaggrieved, @nachosncheeze, @living-in-unreality, @aloysiavirgata, @cecilysass, @leiascully, @pennyserenade, @invidiosa, @settle-down-frohike, @piecesofscully, @thescullyphile, @p34chi, @incidental-ao3, @cock-holliday, @ragnarockz, @frogsmulder, @bakedbakermom, @cutelilcurtain, @dreamingofscully, @freckleslikestars, @amplifyme, @scullys-scalpel, @ghostbustermelanieking, @o6666666, @sigritandtheelves, @contrivedcoincidences6, @two-microscopes, @sixhours, @jessahmewren, @enigmaticdrblockhead, @wexleresque, @danascullysjournal, @seek-its-opposite, @frostbitepandaaaaa, @oohnotvery, @atths--twice, @thatfragilecapricorn30, @storybycorey, and anyone else!

20 questions for fic writers
Thanks @magnetarmadda for the tag! (I'm slowly getting caught up on these.)
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
64 on AO3. (I have a few that are just on Tumblr that I really need to back up onto AO3.)
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1,806,655 holy fucking shit when did it get that high.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
These days, mostly TMA. I have in the past written Star Trek, Star Wars (not on AO3, it's only on my Tumblr), MCU/Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Cut & Run fics; I've also dabbled in a couple other fandoms, including what I am both proud and frustrated to say is still the only Mnemosyne fanfic in existence, or at least on AO3.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
leaves too high to touch (roots too strong to fall)
Had He Known It
Whiskey Lullaby
It Was Just My Imagination Telling Lies
Hurry Up and Slow Me Down
5. Do you respond to comments?
Every one!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooh, that's a toughie. I'm going to say Where the Road Waits to Be Taken.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Mmm...I write mostly happy endings, but probably Love Will Find Out the Way. That one's certainly the most joyous ending (so far, anyway).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not since I left the super toxic fandoms.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not anymore, no. I went through a period of about two years where I was writing it, mainly because I'd always been super bad at it and wanted to give it a shot, but I'm a sex-averse ace and I was always kind of iffy on it in fiction, so eventually I gave it up.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I'm still working on that TMA/Night Vale story, I swear. And I've got a couple Leverage/MCU fics that will probably never see the light of day. The craziest one I've ever written is probably the now-deleted Sherlock/Star Trek AOS crossover (deleted because they were at Hogwarts and...yeah).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
See #11.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Once...technically. My brother wasn't old enough for his own account yet, so he dictated the story to me and I cleaned it up a bit. (So more "ghostwritten" than "co-written", maybe?)
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don't think I really have one all-time favorite ship. Lots that I will always love, but not necessarily one I'd rank above all others?
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm not going to lie, I really want to finish the TMA "whoops this was supposed to be a oneshot" AU where everything is the same (to start with, anyway) except that Martin doesn't work for the Institute, he's a bartender at a pub that Jon stops in for a drink at and ends up falling in love with him. I just...need to figure out where the plot is going.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Emotion. Description. Angst. Evoking the feeling my characters are feeling in the reader.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I still struggle with info-dumping. And I tend to get hung up on the "perfect" way to phrase something, to the detriment of the rest of the scene.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Why not?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I used to make up stories about the Power Rangers to send myself to sleep at night when I was, like, six. And I did technically write one down for a spelling assignment in first or second grade, so that totally counts.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
to find promise of peace (and the solace of rest), and not just because it's my most recent one.
Tagging (as always, no pressure) @astudyinfic, @accal1a, @blasphemous-lies-and-deceit, @wintersnixon, and anyone else who wants to give it a go!

20 fanfic questions
Thanks for tagging me @randomfoggytiger !
How many works do you have on AO3?
30, I'm still working on putting more that I wrote either on Tumblr or Fanfiction.net back in the day on my AO3 (if they don't induce too much cringe. Been doing this almost a decade now).
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
137,433 and counting
3. What fandoms do you write for?
NCIS, X-Files, Star Wars, and on rare occasions, Harry Potter
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Mother (Star Wars Obi-Wan x Satine), Life Force (more Star Wars), Back to You (old NCIS fic), Like Life Itself (you guessed it, more Star Wars), and sh-boom (X-Files :D)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Sometimes, if I get a particularly nice comment that makes me all excited. But I recently read a post where someone was saying you shouldn't reply to comments on your own fic on AO3 because it artificially inflates the number of comments on your story, and I was like :'(
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooh, I've been specializing in angst since I got back into fic writing. Let me think... The Star Wars prequels are inherently angsty, so-- hope like the sun (Star Wars) this could be such a dream (Star Wars) what was once a garden (Star Wars)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Mother (Star Wars), because even though it's angsty, it's a happy ending AU. I'm realizing a lot of my fics that I'm actually proud of have melancholy endings lol sh-boom (X-Files) is a good one too.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I mean, maybe I used to? When I wrote as a teen? Not so much "hate" as "this doesn't make sense," and half the time, the commenter was getting some fact about the fandom wrong anyway haha
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
Nope, never will
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Never a crossover, although I have thought about an X-Files/NCIS crossover. Pretty sure I'd be the only one interested in it though. I am currently writing a Star Wars fanfic that is basically a retelling of The Sound of Music, which is probably as close to a crossover as I'll get.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. But I did have someone ask to print my fic out once to keep forever and that made me so happy :')
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
That would be cool, but no.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I can't. I'm so loyal to Tony and Ziva from NCIS, and they really are fantastic. But even I have to admit that Mulder and Scully are the blueprint. Nobody did co-dependent coworkers turned lovers like them. Both of them have WILD stories about how they ended up with a child though, and I love them for that.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Oof. The forbidden topic. I was writing a fic called "In the Eyes of Tali" on Fanfiction.net once upon a time before they brought back Ziva on the show, and a lot of people seemed to really enjoy it. It was basically the episode Family First from Tali's perspective, which I think is really unique, and then went on toward an eventual reunion with Ziva. I think I could theoretically finish it one day, but there's so much I'm writing now that I doubt it. Maybe I need the proper incentive.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I actually don't know. I've been told I capture characters' voices well before, that's really nice to hear. I hope I'm improving in the description department.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Probably maintaining good pacing, getting from point A to point B without rushing it, and actually making myself finish what I started. I'm also a little wimp when it comes to not getting comments or bookmarks on a fic, even if it's a small fandom and it makes sense that the engagement isn't as high as I hoped.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Occupational hazard in the Star Wars and NCIS fandoms. Star Wars you're dealing with made up languages (most often for me, Mando'a) and NCIS is usually Hebrew for Ziva. Best you can do is do the research, try to fact check Google, and provide translations if needed for context in the story.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically, Harry Potter. When I was 13 I started a story that I had grand plans for, posted 2 chapters on ffn.net, and then never touched it again lol. But the ones I actually stuck with were (now really cringe) NCIS fics, and they got a decent amount of attention on that site (and even among some old ladies on Twitter that would share links sometimes, how cute is that?)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
So far, either Mother (Star Wars) or Beautiful (X-Files), but recently I've been putting out a lot that I'm finally proud of! I'm hoping they're actually good this time, and not the "good" that I thought I was writing in 2015. I've always hoped I'd build up a base of readers that enjoy my stuff and subscribe for when I post new fics, but I don't think I'm there yet. Easier said than done, especially on Tumblr.
Tagging: @indestinatus @wanna-be-bold @ whoever else wants to do this! I'm out of touch with who writes stuff on here, and also relatively oblivious to people's blog names if I read them on AO3 haha

23. What fic did you enjoy writing the most?

OOH !!! uhhhhh i really like "cruel mercy" (wip), "bird hunt" (wip), and "dear chan, have you ever been in love before?"
29. What was the funniest comment or piece of feedback that you received?
AHAHHAHA when i posted the one beomgyu drabble for my october mini series, almost all the reblogs were talking abt how tf were those cheesy pickup lines attractive 💀🤡 tbh only beomgyu could make corny ass pick up lines attractive but yuh ✨ also whenever em rbs my stuff, she's so funny sjfnejfbj like i once posted a fic at 2am and she rb'd w smth like wait y aren't u asleep beam (ignoring the fact that she was also not asleep 💀)
34. What's the weirdest thing you researched for a fic?
LMAOO i don't think i remember half the things i google while in the moment tbh 🤣 but i vividly remember going down the rabbit hole of cheerleader positions and stunts for this one wip bc idk what any of that cheer stuff is called (´Д⊂ヽ and i think soon i'm gonna need to spiral down the dance rabbit hole too @_@ like figuring out waltzes and tangos and what that one dance intak did for isac :')

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @frankenjoly omg thanks i just got home from school i need this
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
I have 57 rn and i still can't believe i have that many fics,, it used to be more than that but i had deleted some of my older fics for an old fandom i was once in
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
127,635 words (and counting hopefully once i get out of this slump)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now i mainly write for BSD. I used to write for the fantastic beasts and where to find them fandom from 2018 to the first half of 2020 but i stopped cuz i left (you can still find my fics for that fandom in my ao3 and wattpad profiles)
4. Top five fics by kudos
Bored (BSD) - a little domestic fluff fic feat. Ranpo being perpetually bored while Akiko is busy working
A Night at the Scamander Household (Fantastic Beasts) - wherein the Newt and Tina are awoken in the middle of the night by their youngest son who's unable to sleep
Tattoos and Soulmates (Fantastic Beasts) - newtina soulmate au where you have matching tattoos with your soulmate
Lay All Your Love on Me (or not) (Fantastic Beasts) - watch as Achilles Tolliver tries to get Tina Goldstein's attention and fails (spoiler: she's already taken)
Books, Rain, and You (Fantastic Beasts) - in an effort to get out of the heavy rain, Tina finds herself in a cozy library with an adorable librarian. they bond over books and then some
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, but not always. I like interacting with those who read my fics and seeings their comments just motivates me to write more
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i mostly write fluff but i have tried my hand at writing angst although i'm not sure if those fics count as that cuz i feel like i don't have the skill to properly convey the angsty feelings for it to be considered angst
but if i had to choose out of all the attempts i made at angst, i'd say If "Happy Ever After" Did Exist, I Would Still Be Holding You Like This and Con Flores (Te Llevaste Mi Tristeza Con Colores)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
again, i write fluff so basically all of them have happy endings or are just generally happy overall. i can't really pick one of them dasjkgkas
8. Do you get hate on fic?
i hope not... that's literally one of my writing anxieties, especially when i write a fic involving an oc i have for a fandom (like Edogawa Hotaru, for example)
9. Do you write smut?
i think i tried writing once although it wasn't a fanfic. i cringed hard and never tried writing smut for a fic again. but if you guys saw my character ai chats involving my ships-
10. Do you write crossovers?
no
11. Have you ever stolen a fic?
i hope not. i always try to make sure all my works are original, but if i do take inspo from another fic i always make sure to ask
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes! i think i had two or three fics translated some time ago by other people online (with my permission ofc) and that honestly makes me feel so proud??

omg Lost and Found my beloved ranposano fic daksgdkas that fic is what i like to consider as the peak of my skills as fic writer, like i will never be able to write something like that ever again
(A Package and Glass Marble come close tho)

Brighter to my eyes 7
Tumblr media
Summary: Leo is good at reading people, it's what makes him a good strategist, but those blue hues of hers elude his sharp intuition.
Perhaps if they didn't he'd realize he didn't have to change himself for her to see him like he wants her to.
A.N. I wrote this fanfic over an idea of Rise! Leo using a cloacking brooch to hide his true self but it evolved into something way bigger, this fic will takes place in ROTTMNT after "Newsworthy" but April is 18 starting college instead of in High School, while the MC and Raph are 17, the twins 16 and Mikey 15.
Pairing: Rise! Leo x OC, Leo x reader
Warnings: Angst, FLUFF, Sibling shenanigans, MC is a nerd, but a mean nerd in leather.

Troya: Hey Tello
Purple rain: Yes, my magnanimous friend?
Troya: How much would your plans for the tank improve if you added control from your phone or wristband to your augmented reality dashboards, like a remote-control ignition key?
Purple rain: I knew there was a reason I decided to share the process of this beautiful project with you!
“Ooh, is it the drill?” Leo asked and you leaned a bit closer to Donnie asking ‘drill?’ in a quiet voice before Leo continued “Is it that drill you made when we were fighting those silverfish.”
“Brethren,” Donnie spoke to his siblings in front of a dramatic curtain while you stood right beside him “alongside my sponsor I am proud to present my masterpiece, the culmination of my merit skills united in one glorious enterprise. Gentlemen behold the—”
“Uh, no, no, that- that’s still in beta.”
“Lame!” Raph exclaimed.
“But this is better! Much much better, I give you the—”
“Is it gonna be a cooler even bigger drill?” Mikey asked grinning and Donnie frowned.
“No, not a drill!” He pointed, making a final gesture with his arm before Leo interrupted again.
“Wait, sponsor? Why is Vic sponsoring your projects now?” he asked with an eyebrow raised.
“It’s an investment in Donnie’s genius that I expect to pay me back greatly in the long run” Vic nodded confidently to which Donnie’s smile returned as he nodded too.
“Yes, yes, now, THIS is the big surprise!” Donnie finally pulled the rope on the curtain, exposing to everyone an empty sewer much to Vic and Donnie’s ignorance since they were looking at the rest of Donnie’s siblings “Tah-stinking-dah!”
“Yay! A sewer tube full of nothing!” Donnie ‘Ah?!’ed in confusion when Mikey said that, both him and Vic turning around fast to look at the lack of tank behind them “I’m so proud of you.”
The five of them were now on top of a rooftop looking down at the city streets in search of the turtle tank.
“Hey this is a real problem Donnie” Raph stated, “Not only did they steal your tank thing—”
“Now you can finish the drill!” Mikey noted happily.
“What? Where did it go?!” Donnie asked, “I built us an amazing vehicle out of the moon buggy!” He exclaimed hitting the floor on his knees with Vic reaching down to pat his battle shell, still looking around as if the tank would appear again where they had left it “Who stole our turtle tank?!”
“But they also must know where our lair is” Raph continued “It must be somebody who penetrated our inner circle.
Victoire tried to stop them once they had all reached April’s apartment but the turtles were faster and she face-palmed as they broke down the door to her apartment “Couldn’t we just KNOCK guys?!” She asked exasperated but Donnie spoke right after making his entrance.
“Maybe even someone we’ve known for years” Donnie said with a frown full of suspicion on his face.
“Hi Donnie” April’s calm grin and sickly-sweet tone was worrying “You have nine seconds to explain why you just broke down my door.”
“Someone stole Donnie’s turtle tank” Leo explained from behind and Vic started to back up as she saw April’s expression, she didn’t want to be in her line of fire.
“Alright you! Where’s our turtle tank?!”
“She gets it” Mikey said.
“Ah hohoh, I see, so as your best friend you naturally suspect me?” April asked with the fakest grin, Victoire was out the door by now.
“Oh hoh, don’t get me that, you’re the only one who could’ve taken it.”
“You what?” April asked glaring at Vic who stepped backward again with a wide innocent grin.
“April, I swear I told them it was ridiculous, the only reason they don’t suspect me is because I was there with Tello and sponsored the thing” Vic exclaimed.
The screams of pain from the guys could be heard through the whole neighborhood and Vic winced before looking out the window where they had been thrown from, she could hear Donnie speaking about their inner circle being secured and Mikey yelled out an apology to April “Movie night later?” He asked.
“Your treat” April agreed, blowing them a kiss before closing the window and turning to Vic, the latter was about to say goodbye but the expression on April’s face screamed ‘really?’ and Vic groaned “I thought we’d talked about buying them things?”
Vic thought those were Donnie’s last words, because April stood up then, baseball bat on her hands and a warning on her tongue “3, 2, 1…”
“Look, Aps, I know it’s just that Donnie’s project was so cool and by this point, it was more of an investment? I get my own seat on the tank and made some suggestions too, it wasn’t just giving him the stuff out of nowhere” Vic defended herself and April sighed nodding, Vic mentally celebrated having convinced her before she said goodbye to go meet the guys back in the street.
Once she reached the alley where they’d fallen she heard the last of their conversation “It’s gotta be another mutant, and I know where we can find a mutant, the mutant pizza place!” Leo said.
“I’m sorry, what? A mutant pizza place?” Vic questioned quickly “Well how many people can have been mutated? I thought that was like, a recent thing? With the oozequitoes and that?” Her voice dripped with confusion and Leo’s arm was suddenly around her shoulders.
They all ended up at a different alley, Leo helped her down as they all had been parkouring from the rooftops, it was good that she had a good physical condition but she still needed to rely on one of them when doing that, it was insane how resistant the four were “Stand back” Raph said, once you’d reached it, saying he had this before making a gesture with his hands and suddenly Vic’s mouth formed a small ‘o’ as she saw a magical entrance form through the graffiti on the wall.
“Oh my dear human friend, there is so much you don’t know about us yet, but don’t worry! We’re gonna show you all you’ve been missing, Leo’s got you!” He said with his thumb pointing to himself.
“Say, bone-man! Yo, you seem like you have your ear holed to the ground, what do you know about a certain missing turtle tank?” Leo asked dropping a paper on the skeleton’s hands, it turned out to be a teddy bear town voucher.
“Ah, the old smooth urban cop digging for info in a restaurant routine. Watch and learn baby” He winked at Vic who didn’t really notice since she was still looking at the pizzeria and the customers in awe, Donnie did seem to notice though, and rolled his eyes while Leo made his way to the owner.
Vic ran her hands down her cheeks in dismay as she realized this.
“Okay Leo, do your thing” Raph said and Leo separated himself from Vic, clearly trying to show off.
“Enough with your stupid routine, Leo!” Donnie exclaimed exasperated pushing past him.
Vic noticed the small shift on Leo’s expression and her step stuttered immediately, Leo was always so bright, it was weird to see him lack confidence like that, she decided to settle herself at his side, bumping her arm with his and hoping it would make him feel better, she felt him stiffen before looking down at her in surprise.
Leo kept going through different people before a baby with a really big set of teeth growled in his face “Oh come on!” He backed up.
“I’m finding out which of you wise guys took our tank or I’m smashing everything in this dump!” Donnie stated loudly making some people in the establishment look worried, he tried to lift a table to throw it but was struggling with it, the bone-mas lifted a hand to stop him.
“Eh, hey, Pepino…” Vic almost snorted at the nickname but managed to stop herself in time “Your bad cop routine leaves something to be desired.”
“Oh, no, nonono, hahah! We’re not the police” Mikey spoke, Vic wondered why she’d stayed silent throughout the whole endeavor because right after they were kicked out and this time she was thrown into the alley with them, thankfully landing on Mikey’s legs instead of the garbage or his plastron.
“Oh man,” Leo was rubbing his back “Why can’t anyone throw us into a nice soft pile of trash?”
“Ugh, hey Donnie” Raph lifted himself up “Why didn’t you just put a tracking device in the turtle tank? You put a tracker device in salami paper” Victoire mumbled a small ‘Do I really want to know?’ while sliding off Mikey’s legs.
“Okay, we should find the tank if we just track the perimeter of the shopping cart protocol’s limit” Donnie explained glancing at the image on his tech bo.
“Oh I was getting to that” Donnie explained “But then he realized he did install the shopping cart protocol! Hah hah!” When Donnie narrated his life like that it made Vic look at everything more dramatically, any day now she’ll start hearing Donnie’s voice narrate the most mundane things of her life and will be unable to stop it, his brothers looked less amused.
“Woah! Are we gonna need a protractor?” Mikey asked.
“No.”
“Guys? Look!” Vic interrupted them pointing down to where the tank was parked, the guys all looked amazed.
“Woah! Donnie, nice work”
“An abacus?”
“She’s big AND beautiful” Raph joined in.
“We are gonna get a lot of parking tickets in that thing” Leo grinned before making a double take “Uh, hey guys? What’s dad doing down there?”
“Oooh, I SHOULD have known HE took it” Donnie groaned “You just can’t trust adults these days. You leave the keys to your brainchild lying around and the next thing you know—”
“Meat Sweats? Oh that’s bad news” Raph grunted “Hey, we gotta move or dad’ll be toast to spread on toast, let’s go”
They started following but Splinter and Meat Sweats were driving fast down the street “They’re getting away!” Raph yelled.
Vic looked confused “Who’s Meat Sweats?” She asked no one in particular, but snickered at the ‘toast to spread on toast’ comment and Leo pouted at her while Mikey explained it was Rupert Swagger whom she’d seen transform on live TV.
“Oh come on, I’ve said funnier things.” He moaned.
Donnie turned around with a grin “Turtle tank time!”
They all got in the tank and Donnie immediately started following Meat Sweats “Now that autopilot is engaged” He said walking away from the controls “Allow me to show you around my state of the art Turtle Tank! Over there is navigation, down here is a, wait for it: Bowling ball launcher, strike! And there is the—”
“Ooh, good one, rainbow and chocolate” they all grunted as they hit a wall but the tank kept going without issue.
“Donnie, watch the road!” Raph glared.
“Soft serve ice cream machine?!” Mikey asked with sparkly eyes “Tell me there’s a sprinkles cannon?”
“I wouldn’t need to if you would just take your seat” Donnie smugly pointed out to a seat that came from the ceiling “It’s the giant red one with your name and your exact lumbar settings!”
“It’s beautiful” Raph said with excitement as Donnie patted his back.
“Captain, the con is yours.” They both shared a fist bump and Raph took over the driving stick.
Victoire strode right next to Leo who looked at her curiously while she expertly pulled down on a lever, a door opened beneath and a new seat appeared right there, Vic taking it happily while Leo looked in wonder.
“Wait, how much did you actually work on this thing?” he asked curiously and Vic shrugged.
“I mostly just hung around while Donnie explained or asked me for help with simple things, told me how to do some small tasks or had me pass over tools” If he was being honest with himself, which Leo hadn’t been much since meeting Victoire, Leo would have probably considered the bitterness he felt at realizing she had been hanging out at the lair with Donnie for a while without him even knowing, but since he WASN’T being honest he just grinned at her at that.
“I know you’re in there Dad! I can see your tail!” Donnie yelled from a window “Oh papa~! If you surrender now there shan’t be any consequences!”
“You’re with a very dangerous mutant pops! Meat Sweats just wants to eat you!”
The truck hit them a couple times and Vic finally put on her seat belt “We gotta stop that truck!” Raph exclaimed.
“I’ll blast it with the boom cannon!” Donnie said happily and Vic looked at Leo with worry.
“Uh, burnt to a crisp isn’t the way I was planning on meeting your father” She said while Leo used his control panel to talk to Donnie.
“Donnie, dad’s in that thing” He glared at his brother through the screen.
“Can I at least go semi-lethal?” Donnie asked and the figures of his brothers on his screen grunted while Victoire shook her head “You never let me shine!” he complained sadly “Harpoon hooks it is” he finished and Vic took it as her cue, pulling out the controls for the harpoon and pointing at the truck, they stuck tight for Leo and Mikey to climb over the chains.
“Okay Sweaty Spaghetti, give us our dad back!” Mikey said.
“Yeah, hand over the fugitive” Donnie agreed with a mean grin.
Vic watched as Meat Sweat’s truck opened up showing him and a lot of mutants in cages, but she couldn’t hear what he was threatening them with, she COULD have started the outside audio from her screen but decided she was already grossed out enough just watching the pig use his powers on that cobra.
“Hey watch out! It’s a spitting cobra!” Raph yelled and Donnie barked “Hey! Watch the paint bucko!”
“Donnie, what else you got in this thing?” At Raph’s question, Donnie got excited to use the bowling balls, it didn’t take long after that for Mikey and Leo to bother Meat Sweats enough for him to be done with trying to eat Splinter, at one point Vic got worried for them both since they were just um, HANGING FROM A CHAIN but Okay, they did it and now Splinter sat in front of them on the street, an angry Donnie glaring down at his father.
“You, you reckless, irresponsible! You are watching the science of chairs channel for a month young man! Followed by the long division channel and the memorizing Pi channel! Spoiler alert, the 99th digit is seven!” Donnie kept berating his father and Vic whistled from behind just watching, if she EVER spoke to either of her parents like that, she would have been kissing her freedom bye-bye.
It was only after Donnie finished his rant that Splinter’s eyes stumbled upon her and Victoire suddenly had returned to her most popular grin, the one Leo had mostly seen on her Instagram pics, it kind of weirded him out, he’d gotten used to her casual small upturn of lips which wasn’t quite a smile but felt more real than whatever she was doing right now, she looked like a doll.
“Hello, sir! I’m Victoire Blanchet, a friend of your sons, it’s nice to finally meet you regardless of circumstances” she extended her hand to the man/rat for a firm handshake which he took, his pout from before suddenly gone as he looked at her.
“Ah yes, I did hear a bit about you, I apologize for my son’s manners, they should have introduced us before” Donnie crossed his arms “and you may call me Splinter, it’s a pleasure to meet you” he smiled gently at her, Victoire blinked, her face didn’t twitch in the slightest but she felt like the glint in his eye looked at her knowingly.
They all went back inside the tank to go to the lair, Mikey having invited Victoire back to watch movies like he’d done with April which she agreed to, Leo started rambling to her about how there was no way she hadn’t seen Jupiter Jim’s last trip to the moon 32.
“We can watch that, but I have read the comic” she said proudly when Leo’s eyes sparkled.
“No way! I couldn’t even find it, it was a limited print!” He jumped on the edge of his seat while she nodded at him.
“If you want you can come over to my apartment tomorrow” she said and Leo’s cheeks darkened at the idea “then I can finally show you around and you can check out my collection”
He was about to agree in a burst of excitement when Mikey jumped in between the both of them “Oh really!? We’d love to go over Vic! I’m so excited to see your place, then we can visit you when you can’t come down to the lair!”
Vic looked at Mikey in surprise but chuckled and nodded telling him they were all welcome while Leo bristled behind his brother.
From one turn after the other Leo was starting to crave more time with Vic and he promised himself he would get it soon without his siblings.
He still refused to acknowledge the reasons for why he wanted this.

2022 fic year in review
Total number of completed stories: 7
Total word count: 73,146
Fandoms written in: Our Flag Means Death (3), Lewis (2), Shetland (2)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? More fic by word count, but less by number of fics.
For the past couple of years I'd been fixated of the idea of posting a fic a month (which did help me get through the early part of the pandemic) but it also kept me from writing anything long. So, in 2022, I decided to let the one fic a month thing go and try to write something longer (which led to me accidentally writing the longest thing I've ever written).
What’s your own favorite story of the year? This actually really hard for me to decide because I spent the second half of the year working on one fic, but I think I’ll have to go with The time it takes to get from here to there (Lewis, James/Robbie). I’ve been meaning to write a story that focuses on the Soul of Genius for years and not only did I finally manged but I also think it’s very true to the vibe that the episode deserves.
Did you take any writing risks this year? I wrote the longest thing I’ve ever written which is also a full AU and in a new fandom: Riches and Wonders (OFMD, blackbonnet, modern AU). But I think of it as more of an experiment than a risk.
I didn’t actually intend to write something novel-length when I started and once I realized that was what was happening I’d already written half of it. So then it became a game of can I write something that long in less than a year and could I start posting it before it was 100% complete and still finish it. The answer is yes to all of that and I’m super proud of myself for getting there and sticking with it.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? I said this last year too, but I really do want to finish the sequel to Lead me wild to your dark roads (Lewis/Shetland xover, James goes walking in Shetland). I was working on it pretty steadily before I started the little OFMD modern AU that turned into R&W.
Then, there are those three Lewis casefics that I’ve got mostly plotted that I would like to finish someday, plus I’d like to write some Izzy POV (possibly in the R&W universe). And there are a few other WIPs an new ideas kicking around. But mostly I just want to keep writing things that make me happy.
Most popular story of the year? Riches and Wonder by all possible metrics (which is probably a bit unfair it being in a far bigger fandom than I’ve written in in years and 15 chapters long). It’s actually one of my most popular fics period at this point. Second most popular by kudos is It’s misery loves you and by comments is The time it takes to get from here to there.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Don’t go dark on me (Shetland, Jimmy/Duncan). Part of my s6 missing scenes series that takes place before the first episode.
Most fun story to write: It's misery loves you (OFMD, blackbonnet, Izzy POV) Writing Izzy watching Ed and Stede reuniting and being absolutely fucking livid about it was so much fun. I think the final count was 38 fucks in a 1900 word fic. I love writing unreliable narrators and his utter impotent rage just made me snicker all the way through. Definitely want to write some more Izzy POV this year.
Here comes your man (Lewis, James/Robbie) was also very fun, getting James all flustered after seeing old photos of Robbie in his rugby shorts.
Most unintentionally telling story: I hardly ever have a good answer to this question and I feel like I have even less of one than usual for 2022 since more than six months of it was spent working on R&W (which is a blatant romantic comedy with a dash of angst in the middle for flavor). Maybe that’s something telling? Really what I want is a story with a bit of angst and an HEA (this is not at all surprising).
Biggest disappointment: For the past few years I’ve has a goal of finishing one of my three Lewis casefics and I didn’t do that again in 2022. But I did write the longest thing I’ve ever written in 7 months so I feel like that’s a good compromise. Also, the fact that I was able to finish something so long in (for me) in such a short time gives me hope that I will finish one of those casefics one day.
Biggest surprise: Being inspired to write in a new fandom which is a really big fandom and writing the longest fic I’ve even written, and completely without intending to. Also, apparently I didn’t write any Endeavour fic in 2022, so here’s hoping I get inspired by s9.
I don’t know how many people have done this (or something like it) already but I’ll tag: @thankyouforbeingsowrong @bryndeavour @vita-s-west @mcgstarroar @mr-iskender @femmenerdy @philleegirl @swimmingfoxsticks @desperately-human and anyone else who wants to do this.
List of the fics I wrote in 2022 under the cut:
Don't go dark on me - Shetland (1,159 words) Jimmy/Duncan - teen - Established Relationship, Emotional Hurt/Comfort
Jimmy’s brow furrows into that pursed-lipped annoyed look of his, he shakes his head. “You’re just going to leave it to chance? See what happens and then sort out the fallout later?”
“No,” Duncan says, he puts two pairs of wool socks into Jimmy’s suitcase, then a third, trying to keep his tone even. “I’m going to make a deliberate decision to support my partner after the death of his mum.”
Here Comes Your Man - Lewis (4,046 words) James/Robbie - explicit - Robbie Lewis in rugby shorts, thirsty pining, Oral Sex
“Find something interesting?” Lewis asks. He sounds amused.
“Um.” James’ face goes hot. Every potential quip dries up on the tip of his tongue. He is still holding the rugby photo, the other three photos next to him on the table, clear evidence of his prying. He’s sat in one of Lewis’ dining chairs, but he has no memory of sitting down, and he— “I suppose you could say that,” James says feebly.
The time it takes to get from here to there - Lewis (6,445 words) James/Robbie - teen - The Soul of Genius, Mutual Pining, Angst with a Happy Ending
Lewis is right, James does want someone in his life. Need, he’s not so sure about, but he is intimately acquainted with want. Trouble is, that person is sitting across the table from him, oblivious, and telling him to go find someone else.
It's misery loves you - Our Flag Means Death (1,908 words) Ed/Stede - mature - Reunions, Izzy POV, Izzy-typical overuse of the word fuck Pirate-typical violence
“Ed!” someone shouts.
Izzy spins around, following Blackbeard’s gaze. Who the fuck dares?
And fucking, fuck. Walking toward Blackbeard through the smoke and fog like he has any fucking right to be here, as if anyone fucking wants him here, is Stede fucking Bonnet.
A tunnel to crawl through - Our Flag Means Death (2,361 words) Ed/Stede - mature - Reunions, Pirate-typical violence, Emotional Hurt/Comfort
“Ed?” Stede’s hand touches his arm, his fingers are rough in a way they weren’t before, when Stede passed him teacups and fine fabrics, when they— “Edward, are you okay?”
Blackbeard looks down at Stede’s hand on his arm, at Stede’s face so close to his own, at the dagger he’s still holding to Stede’s throat which he has made no effort to step away from. His hand is shaking, the blade trembling against Stede’s skin. Stede who is here. Stede who is right fucking in front of him, close enough to smell if Blackbeard were to take a breath.
Never quite like this - Shetland (753 words) Jimmy/Duncan - teen - First Kiss
“Hey,” Jimmy says, as if he hasn’t said just that to Duncan a thousand times over the years in a thousand ways; exhausted, exasperated, teasing, content, relieved, fond even. But he’s never said it quite like this. Never with his face so close to Duncan’s it’s barely in focus. Never with that soft look in his eyes.
“Hey,” Duncan says, more of a sigh than a word.
Riches and Wonders - Our Flag Means Death (56,474 words) Ed/Stede - explicit - Modern AU, Mutual Pining, while also spending all their time together, a bit of angst, with a happy ending (in both senses of the word), So Much Softness
“Yes,” Stede says, sitting up a little taller on his bar stool. “I would love a drink.” He holds out his hand. “I’m Stede.”
“Stede,” Mr Gorgeous Brown Eyes says. “Unusual. I like it.” And Stede likes the way his name sounds on the man’s lips. “I’m Ed.”
Ed’s handshake is firm, his fingers warm and a bit calloused, the leather of his fingerless gloves smooth and soft. Stede’s eyes are drawn to the tattoos circling his arm as the handshake lingers maybe a bit too long.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @fictional-at-heart (can always count on sisters to tag you in fun things!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Sixteen
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
109,759
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Once Upon a Time (SwanFire specifically), Masters of the Air, and The Boys in the Boat (I’d love to write for How to Train Your Dragon and Little House on the Prairie but alas! The Plot Idea Farm has been dry for years)
4. Top five fics by kudos?
Secrets, Lies, and Blessings - 42
Tell Me You Didn’t… - 28
What’s In a Name? - 25
Words of Comfort - 25 (Oo, we’ve got a dead heat!)
I’m Not Much of a Talker - 23
Princess Kidnapped! - 20 (this one I still plan to finish but it’s DARK.)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! It takes me a long while sometimes but I do! I want my readers to feel comfortable giving feedback
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angriest ending?
Oh, “A Hero’s Sacrifice” for sure!!! I wrote Graham’s death to fit my medieval AU and… it’s one I’m really proud of and really politely urge you to read👉🏻👈🏻🥹 I cried writing it (I also researched a lot for it… like what happens when you bleed out from the stomach👀 Someone said writing a battle scene is like writing a sex scene and… she was right. Or he, whatever.)
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably “Secrets, Lies, and Blessings”. I mean, Bae and Emma get married at the end and what gets happier than that?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes. I wrote (am writing) a Don x OFC fic and someone invaded my ask box a couple months ago calling it a ‘boring het fic’ with a ‘dime a dozen OFC’. Behind the gray face too of course. Screw you, Nonny. I’m still writing it, and my all time favorite Don x OFC author commented lovely words on it too so😁
I feel like I also had someone come after me once for Princess Kidnapped because it’s anti Hook. Yeah well I gave you plenty of warning in the tags; it’s your own darn fault you didn’t read them, chickie.
9. Do you write smut?
Some. But as a rule of thumb I try to keep it extremely tasteful with zero uses of gross/rude words. I posted two SwanFire ones (one’s restricted) and I’m working on one about Don and Kate (my OFC)
10. Craziest crossover?
I haven’t written a crossover. But if I did? Hmmm… maybe SwanFire and hiccup/astrid?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope! Thank goodness.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Actually, yes; there was a German girl who liked my fic so much she asked to translate it on Wattpad. Don’t know if it’s still there though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I almost did, but we lost touch and I didn’t agree with writing fanfics about ice dancers…🥴
14. All time favorite ship
I think you all know that👀 Emma Swan and Neal ‘Baelfire’ Cassidy from Once Upon a Time
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Well I thought that was going to be Secrets Lies and Blessings but last week I had a crazy random spurt of inspiration… lately I feel like it’s gonna be Princess Kidnapped… it just has to get so… dark before it gets better and I don’t don’t know if I want to put my mind in a place like that (I mean, Hook is told he can do whatever he wants to Emma as long as he keeps her alive🥺 and then the eventual execution I have planned for the end is gonna be… graphic. So yeah. We’ll see if I ever finish that one.)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and emotional angst. I really enjoy writing heated arguments. CC Emma and Charming
17. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
No. Just, no.
18. First fandom you wrote in?
Once Upon a Time. I read an awesome SwanFire fic after a rewatch in 2018 and she inspired me to give it a try and I never stopped.
19. Favorite fic you’ve written?
A Hero’s Sacrifice
About to Throw Hands - This one was my first ever request and only fic written with a deadline in mind. My friend Rachael mentioned she was craving a reader fic where Bobby defends the female reader. Lo and behold I have it a try and voila! It turned out better than I expected and she loved it!! A double win!!
There is no 20 - it should be called 19 questions😆

Thank you to @chenfordspiral for tagging anyone!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
36
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
310,810
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I’ve written for How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, and the Rookie. I also wrote some Sherlock fic that I never published.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
This is the Future
Up is down, down is up
Precious and Few
All at Once Everything Looks Different
You Don't See It?
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! I haven’t been doing my best lately because my glass balls are with my kids and responding is one of my plastic balls.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Well- the angstiest ending would be for I’ll Tell you my Sins. But considering it’s only in my head… With the Arm of her Brother is probably the most angst of what’s published. Unless you are a Ted Mosby fan then probably Ted the Slave 🤣😂
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh gosh idk! There are so many possibilities! Aunt Genny probably.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not on most, but I got a LOT of hate on Ted the Slave, which fair. Actually I should probably go back and mark that as non-conish
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ummmm, I’ve done it all? I don’t shy away from it and I’ve done smut requests before.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope. Not my thing, don’t even really love to read them, unless they are in the same universe. (Ncis or rookie and feds for example.)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. Would be cool though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes actually, and I don’t think it’s even on ao3. A group of fandom friends and I decided we were going to rewrite season 8 and 9 of HIMYM to make sense with the characters. I think we got maybe five episodes in? I don’t know if I could tell you where to find it without research.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
This is like asking who my favorite child is.
Okay. Mondler.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Probably I’ll tell you my Sins. But any of them really.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I am terrible at this. But editing? I don’t know.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My muse running away too frequently.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Hate it. Nope. I don’t like having things wrong; and I seriously admire all the writers out there who write in a second language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
HIMYM. It was when I discovered fanfic and fandom because I was a sheltered child and didn’t join chatrooms and didn’t know fandom spaces existed. Although I was writing fanfic in my head for YEARS without knowing it was normal
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Again with the favorite child thing. They all my babies. I’m probably still most proud of This js the Future. It held up over time. But Weddjng Day Jitters and Falling Slowly round up the top three.
Almost everyone I would ask has already played, so anyone that wants to play!

ooo questions for fanfic writers!! answer however many you'd like! <3
2. Go to your AO3 “Works” page, to the sidebar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for “Additional Tags.” What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits? 4. What detail in take everything with you (but leave the sun behind) are you really proud of? 15. What’s your favorite AU that you’ve written? 21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in Beneath the Skin, Through the Heart, what would it be? 42. Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?
thank you!! ♥
So many juicy questions omg. i have to drop by your inbox too later >:) (once i check to see what's already been asked XD)
Okay!! for #2, oh boy, let's see...
the number one tag is "One Piece Bingo" with thirteen works, but by my decree, that doesn't count. MOVING ON, we've got "smut" with ten works and, yeah, that kind of fits. especially with the demon that was Kid week—hot damn, did i do smut for that. Next up is "Angst" with seven works, then "Established relationship" (6), "Alternate Universe—Modern Setting" (5), and finally, "Nightmares" (5). Honestly, the only one im surprised by there is "modern setting." i didn't think i wrote that many, though the rest of these sure fit imo. i do love my angst and smut XD
#4: What detail in take everything with you (but leave the sun behind) are you really proud of?
That's a tough one i do love this work a lot. hmm. I am gonna say im proud of the prose, though that's more of an overarching thing than a detail. Nonetheless, it's still a lil foray outside of my usual writing style and i enjoyed it <3
Now a detail so i can actually answer this question... im gonna say this bit towards the end:
"Her wings spread of their own accord, allowing her to feel the cold wind through her feathers once more. His first words to her came to mind. Hello, little bird. Would you like me to take you away from here? Yes, she chanted, yes, yes, please, anywhere you want to go."
It's precious to me. I don't know why,, it's got a lil undercurrent of "wow you are so fucked" but also peacefulness and i was jumping out of my skin to write it down <3
#15: What’s your favorite AU that you’ve written?
Oh my god this is so tough. It's stuck between two right now—one of them I've only written like, half a paragraph for (you know the one) so im gonna say it doesn't count yet.
Winner then has to be then my One Piece Demon Slayer AU. God, I wanna write more of this when i have the time, but right now, there's only one work out there in the realms: Pink is the Prettiest Color (if you check it out heed the tags!!). I just love both OP and KNY so much... and swords are so sexy... ANYWAY i've got like. a whole conspiracy for this au i believe ive cursed you with it in the past. SOMEDAY im gonna write more for it >:)
#21: If you wrote a “missing scene” in Beneath the Skin, Through the Heart, what would it be?
ahhhhhhh what a good question. I'm almost tempted to say "the wedding" but that's such a cliche answer let me think about it.
It's hard because that's one of my favorite works and I feel like it's pretty solid as is. Now, the question is—am i thinking of a scene i would like to have added, or a later addition/standalone that's connected but not required for the story? In the first case, I think a "experimenting with makeup" and such scene would have been cool. It's silly and small (and i have no fuckin clue how makeup works) I think it would have been a cool scene to further explore Rosi's newfound femininity. now, in the latter case, first thought that comes to mind is the honeymoon. skip the wedding, vows, whatnot, and straight to the married bliss. im a sap like that (also, more smut >:) I do love my katacora smut). I'm not sure if I'll ever add more to this, but these are tempting thoughts!!
Last but not least, #42: Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?
ABSOLUTELY. I got one that is very nsfw so I will spare you that one—but another of my faves is a pair of comments on Pink is the Prettiest Color (1) (2). They were very sweet and flattering, of course, but I could also feel the love for the works and the love for both of the fandoms!! They melt me <3
Of course, all essay comments also hold a very dear place in my heart. they make me want to cry every time i see them—like, oh my god, someone enjoyed my work that much?? holy cow asdfsjfovhs
Thank you for the questions, my dear dear gen <3 these are so much fun to think about
(dang this post got long. Here's the questions if anyone wants to ask away/reblog for themselves!)

Fic Writer Review
Thank you @3friesshortofahappymeal and @momentofch-aos for tagging me.
1. How many do you have on Ao3?
62
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1,456,788. (That totally looks like a made up number, but I promise it's not.)
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Remington Steele and Marvel in various flavors.
4. What are your top 5 five by kudos?
Ice and Fire
Flight Ready
Signs/Language of Love
Darcy Lewis: A Cinderella Story
Hidden
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Always. I enjoy the connection with the people reading the story.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I promise Angst-with-a-Happy-Ending, so I try hard to stick that landing. I didn't finish part 3 of Symbiosis though, and left a synopsis for readers as a conclusion. That one wasn't a happy ending and was the whole reason I couldn't bring myself to write the story.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I did a Castle/Remington Steele crossover once. That was fun.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Often enough that I have a system for dealing with it. Usually it's the Purity Police attacking me, but sometimes it's a reader who isn't happy with the direction the story is going. I remind readers that the choice to read or not read is theirs. If they can't control themselves, I block them.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes, if it contributes to the plot or character development in the story. I don't have any issues writing explicitly, but I can't write it just to write smut.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yep. Ice and Fire gets posted to other sites all the time. It's exhausting sending take down notices, and there's no way I can catch the translations. I do what I can though.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
With my permission? I've been contacted a couple of times but it's never gone anywhere. I think my stuff is hard to translate because I use a lot of idioms and metaphors that don't always work in other languages. My stories tend to be long, too.
Same deal with podcasts.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I have an amazing beta and a writing group. We bounce around ideas and talk through characterizations and plot.
13. What is your all-time favourite ship?
I can't answer that. I love all my ships. If I don't love it, I can't write it.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I won't post if I'm not going to finish it. I'm going to finish Strands of Yggdrasil if it kills me. And it might.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Angst. Whole trucks filled with angst back up into my stories and dump their entire load. I have a request for a Daisy Johnson/Daniel Sousa story that I could fulfill in 1000 words and it would be this cute fluffy thing. That's not what the requestor is going to get.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Why write a hundred words when you can drag the characters through the valley of angst in a thousand?
For realsies.... I write too fast and drop words all the time.
I can't publish without a beta because it would be incoherent. Is it any wonder that my beta is now a professional editor with a big publishing house? I'm so proud of her.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I try not to unless I'm absolutely sure on the meaning. Spanish I can dribble in and feel okay. I know like three phrases in Russian, and just enough French to get me in a crap ton of trouble.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I was 9 and wrote a fanfic for the Atari game Defender.
My first published fanfic is "Steele Blushing (Part 2)" from the Remington Steele/Laura Holt fandom.
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Regency Steele and Queen of Steele are my favs from the RS fandom.
Symbiosis, Ice and Fire, Flight Ready, and Stay are such huge stories that I gave up whole years to them. Symbiosis (Jane/Thor) was my first foray back into writing after a years-long hiatus. Ice and Fire (Bucky/Darcy/Steve) just astounds me at its reception. I recently found the original 6 page word doc that turned into the 300K monster, plus all the various stories in that 'Verse. Flight Ready (Darcy/Clint) was the first time I went out on a limb and wrote something really different. Stay (Daisy/Daniel) is a love letter to my SO.
One Year, Flight Plans May Change, Hidden, Ink, and Signs/Language of Love rank up there with my fav stuff.
Ugh. Don't make me choose.
Here's my stuff and you decide:

Fanfic ask game for procrastinating on writing (very accurate, since I should really be working on either the Aeor Fic or my dissertation right now). Tagged by @essektheylyss and @saturdaysky - tysm, this is very fun! <3
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
28! I only really started posting regularly on AO3 after I got into writing for CR, so there’s a modest amount there right now.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
~126000; probably going to be a lot more by the time the Aeor Fic is finished!.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Only three on AO3 - Critrole, obviously, plus some from my Star Wars: The Old Republic days and a single lonely Dragon Age fic. I’ve written for some other fandoms in the past (Elder Scrolls, mainly).
4) What are your top five fics by kudos?
Show me where my skin begins: Shadowgast; a study of Essek’s touch starvation and the important of touch between him and Caleb as their relationship develops.
My reasons for defying reason: Oneshot looking at Essek’s friendships with each of the Nein in turn, and the Nein’s different love languages.
I shine only with the light you gave me: The wizards slow dance at a fancy Dynasty ball, and Essek negotiates Den dynamics.
I’ll use you as a focal point: Essek summons a familiar, and as he adjusts to life with her, she helps him speedrun his character arc.
How to struggle gracefully: The Mighty Nein and Essek have dinner with Deirta Thelyss, as told through Veth’s perspective. Feat. Veth unpacking some of her own issues and her relationship with Essek
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Not as much as I’d like to anymore; my current health issues mean I have trouble writing at all, let alone replying to comments... but when I’m functioning better, I do try to reply to as many as I can! I absolutely love seeing people’s insights and hearing their thoughts; you guys make every second of writer’s block worth it! <3
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmm, I really don’t know! I’m generally an angst with a happy ending person, so I tend to round things off hopefully. I’d say that The scars that silence carved on me maybe qualifies, because from Essek’s perspective, it ends somewhat ambiguously - but the reader obviously knows that he’s about to get tackle-hugged by a little blue tiefling the moment after the fic ends.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really. My Inquisitor!Essek AU is about the closest I’ve got, but I’m not sure I’d ever write anything or it.
8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not since I was about fourteen, thankfully! I’ve had the odd ‘I hate [x character/fandom] but I love this story’ comment here and there.
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Not really. I’ve occasionally strayed into very vaguely nsfw stuff, but I don’t think I’d enjoy writing real smut, nor do I have any confidence that I’d do so halfway decently!
10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
11) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I did once, many years ago back when I was writing Elder Scrolls stuff.
12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I’m definitely not opposed to the idea!
13) What’s your all time favourite ship?
My fic history says Shadowgast, for sure, and I can see them being a love of mine for a very long time.
14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Nothing that’s posted, thankfully, but I’d truly love to finish the one that currently sits under the working title of ‘the Essek and soup fic’. I’m very fond of it, but just don’t seem to be able to make work beyond its first scene. (Maybe I’ll post that as a standalone someday.)
15) What are your writing strengths?
I like to think I’ve got a good sense for prose rhythm? When I’m proofreading, I can generally count on a voice in my head to be saying ‘this sentence needs to be x length’, or ‘this sentence needs another adjective in it to carry the right emotional weight’, and to tell me when something just feels right and flows nicely.
16) What are your writing weaknesses?
I think I have a bit of a tendency to want to include everything - every interesting thought and bit of character exploration that I come up with in the planning process. Also, plotting! The reason I’ve generally stuck to oneshots is because I find writing lengthier plots really, really hard; sooner or later I just get stumped, thinking ‘ok, but what happens now?’ There’s a reason planning the Aeor fic has taken several months!
17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
It’s not something I’d do myself, mostly because I really wouldn’t want to mess up another language in a fic - but I’ve seen it really suit certain stories before.
18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
It is... really hard to remember that far back, but probably either Skyrim or Torchwood. I did not do so well, but I did it :’D
19) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Show me where my skin begins has a special place in my heart for being such huge fun to write and for being a truly feelgood fic. Familiar (like my mirror years ago) will always be important to me just for being my first CR fic and my entry point, as it were, to the CR fandom.
... but I really do hve a soft spot for The scars that silence carved on me, a study of Essek’s growth between 99 and 124. It’ll never be one of my most popular fics - the Nein don’t even appear in it - but I just loved taking Essek through all of these little changes, bridging the gap between the negotations and his reunion with his friends. And there are some scenes and lines in here I’m really proud of.
I think just about everyone I’d love to tag for this has already been tagged, so consider this an open tag for anyone who’d like to do this!

Fic Writer Review -tag game
Ah, this looks like fun, I love statistics! Thanks to @jkrobertson for the tag!!
1. How many fics on AO3?
35, although 1 is a less-explicit version of another, and two of them are anthology fics of short fiction.
2. Total AO3 word count?
675,354 over two and a half years. I am very proud of this number!!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Everything on ao3 is Bleach. I’ve written in both the X-Men and Batfamily fandoms, but that was decades ago. Oh! and Star Wars. I had one absolutely wild summer of Phantom Menace Obidala Fanfic.
4. Top Five by Kudos?
a little in love now and then (302)
The Letter of the Law (215)
Between Tides (195)
Call Me Back When the War is Over (189)
Squad Six is Jerks and other Stories, vol I (175)
5. Do you respond to comments, why/why not?
Yes, I try to respond to all of them, even though it takes me a while sometimes. I feel like if people take the time to comment then it’s the polite thing to do to respond. I do have a couple of readers whom I love who write really thoughtful and funny comments and sometimes we end up riffing, and I have definitely ended up incorporating those ideas into other fics.
I do not usually respond to review on ff.net because their interface is and you basically have to PM the person. I get very few comments on ff.net and they are generally very short anyway.
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I don’t really write very much angst and even when I do, it usually ends on a hopeful note. Uh, maybe  Dear Wormwood ?
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
No.
8. Have you received hate on a fic?
Nope, never. People are generally very kind to me! Even times I’ve done stuff that people didn’t like, people are very polite about it. I’m actually kind of amazed about it myself.
9. Do you write smut?
Unfortunately.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Someone offered to translate one of my fics once, but I never got any follow-up on it. @sakizar made a podfic of Not Broken, Just Bent, that’s sort of like a translation!
12. Ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! I used to write a lot of shared universe fic with my sister and some other friends, but that was in a different lifetime. I wrote the dialogue for a @kaicko comic once, that was a lot of fun!
13. All-time favourite ship?
Renruki, no contest
14. What's a WIP you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
I am nothing if not a closer. If I want to finish a thing, I finish it. I do sometimes relegate a WIP to the DOA pile, but it’s usually because I’ve lost interest in it. I did get overcome with a wave of anxiety today about whether or not I will ever finish The Heart is a Muscle as a series, because each part gets harder to write than the last and there is a time gap in there that I don’t have any ideas for (yet). I am confident that I will finish the next part, though, at least.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Banter. World-building. Putting in a lot of little interconnected details and themes. Balancing large casts. Complex and layered relationships between different characters. Characters who genuinely care about each other and who do their best, even if they screw up some times. Descriptions of food you will want to eat.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I don’t edit myself and sometimes I go off on gonzo tangents that don’t advance the plot. Making characters I like too perfect. I am not good at thinking up plots and plot trajectories and I get very stressed out about it. Perpetually biting off more than I can chew and then forcing myself to choke it down anyway.
17. What are your thoughts of writing dialogue in other languages?
I don’t know about dialogue, per se, but I’ll talk about other languages generally. The main reason it took me so long to get into writing Bleach fiction is that I was very intimidated by the idea of disrespectfully screwing up Japanese cultural stuff. Eventually, I just decided to Do My Best and try to do research and listen a lot and apologize if anyone ever called me on my mistakes As far as I know, I haven’t offended anyone.
I do not generally use honorifics, because a) there are a lot of subtleties and I felt like it was more responsible to avoid them altogether, and b) my writing style has a very American cadence and it didn’t seem to fit very well. I do use them sometimes, usually in short stuff, if it feels right.
I generally use Japanese words for the names of things that are inherently Japanese, like articles of clothing, foods, etc, and also for attack names and kidou and stuff like that. Sometimes, I will go back and forth between Japanese terms and English synonyms only for the sake of word variety (zanpakutou vs sword for example).
18. First fandom you wrote for?
I think it might actually be Batman: the Animated Series, except that it was written in a notebook and the “fandom” who saw it was “my sister.” The first online fandom I was involved in was X-Men comics in the 90′s.
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Probably Call Me Back When the War is Over , although I think my *best* fanfic is Hold On, Hold On
Tagging: Gosh, I dunno? @zabiume and @gizkasparadise and @thegreenfaery but only if you want to
