Canvas from yesterday's drawing session with @theholeyness, @akidachi / @akiradachi, @snoozaga/ @1071png and @omnipresentseer !! Holey took the top right with a lot of twewy(Megumi, again, for me <3) but also Ludger, Ovan, Haseo and Onikiri. Aki drew more fnv, including ghoul trio and also ygo Saiou in the top leftish/center part (but also a tiny seasonal Dean in the right corner!). Then a bit below, Ildi drew all the fun&beautiful BG3 npcs, majestic His Majesty and the bunny Harry du Bois. In the left lower corner, Omnipresentseer was making funny scribbles but also drew a very, very cute low-res Tighnari (also my request, thank you!!). I took the right lower part drawing Komaeda, more twewy, Kirby and the boop paws. Megumi got surrounded by Holey's Joshua by 3AM after which we ended the session haha

So. I have this fancy family tree software and I thought I might as well use it, but it was having technical difficulties (or maybe I was the problem?) so here is this super low-quality Mettlestone family tree. Since it's impossible to read, (I just wanted to have a picture in a post for once, lol) I guess just rely on the image description! rip

Basically, I have figured out as best as I can the order of the Mettlestone siblings so I put them in, added their spouses, and added their kids. Oscar isn't in there but like he's an adopted grandkid so that is a bit of an inaccuracy; I'm not sure where he would go though? It was very fun researching the books to find all the ages, though ultimately there was a mostly-in-age-order list in SLV that filled in all the gaps. Before I found that list, I had known that Isabelle, Carrie, and Franny were the three oldest, that Emma and Patrick were at the end, and that Sophy was also a younger child.

kinda crazy they had 12 kids. that's a lot. In case you are wondering, the reason Bronte only had 10 gifts to give but 11 aunts is because Maya & Lisbeth shared a gift!

Also it's really cute that Jacob and Ildi combined their last names to make Mettlestone. Very wholesome.

Ya boys about to hit Shadowbringers

I got through Stormblood post-game last night and BOY what a ride it was!? I could barely put the game down, even when I was trying to pace myself so I don't leave certain friends too far behind. Adding spoilery stuff below the cut, because I know one of 'em reads this blog (I just need to gush a little while things are still fresh in my mind)

Okay so. All the revelations of Garlemald and how, WHY it was created? I loved that, it so easily explained why a whole ass country has been the default 'evil conquerors' for so long without any real challenge or change until now. Because the real man behind the whole thing is STILL AT IT. Change don't happen if the original reason, the original driving force is still kicking about.

Also I wanna kick Solus. I wanna kick Solus so hard. Props for the animators, writer and Rene Zagger, it's on sight now old man, I'm coming for your kneecaps!

Speaking of voice actors, Luke Allen-Gale! Hot damn did he do a good job as Zenos (and the possessed Zenos)! I have complicated feelings about Zenos, ngl - He's one of those characters that I know cannot be saved, fixed, or redeemed, but I can also see why he's such a popular character? Personally it's the voice and certain lines that did it for me. Got some shivers out of certain line-deliveries.

He's actually a character that makes me kinda sad - it's a reminder that there is some characters that are doomed by the canon, they'll never be good people, and yet you can see a glimmer, a potential of what-ifs, could-have-beens and all that. A road that was there but refused by the character because that's just not who they are.

Also Varis is also on the kick on the face list. Black Rose is bad. Stop it.

AND NOW ON THE LATEST THING that actually got two of my friends laughing: The final fight against Zenos-Zombie! Zenbie? Zomnos? The- the dead body possessed by the Ascian who I keep calling Ildi because names hard. Ildinos.

So the final fight against him. One, I absolutely loved being Hien for a moment, he quickly became one of my faves through the Stormblood (he's such a fun, up-beat character that takes the life by stride while also not being a pushover, and that's such a good quality to have!).

Two.... GOD DAMMIT WHOEVER YOU ARE, COULDN'T YOU HAD PICKED A BETTER TIME FOR YOUR BLOODY HOUSECALL, YOU NEARLY COST ME MY HEAD! If it wasn't for our local stray cat of a dragoon, we would've lost then and there and you would've lost your chance to have the WoL helping out on the count of NOT HAVING A HEAD, pick your times better oui raatmacc raqan! (This is a joke I know he couldn't have known I was locked in a death-match. I hope.)

Now if ya wondering why I am not more outraged about the fact they've effectively kidnapped my friends, I uh. I actually felt a huge surge of sympathy at the start for the character. idk something about the voice painted a picture of someone desperate and... sad? Upset? Distressed? Something like that just got my empathy flaring up. So while I am mad that I keep getting these calls and everyone around me is panicking in fear, I also want to get to the bottom of this because apparently my empathy levels are far too fucking high.

(Yes I am the type of person who wants to help everyone in any of the games I play in. It's my ultimate power fantasy, being able to help and comfort folks without my actual personality coming in the way)

I think that's all for me now folks, I am taking a small break before heading to Shadowbringers - I have few alts that need to catch up to HW at the very least, and a laundry-list of things for my main to go through. Like all the gathering side-quests, Eureka, unlocking all the primal fights and fixing my glamors etc. We're also trying to get a house for Storytellers, so i gotta help gather some extra funds + items.

Given that the showrunners, Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, for Lucifer just admitted they read fanfic while writing for the show in the Netflix era in front of hundreds of witnesses at Lux 2, now would be a good time to recirculate this post since people on Twitter seem to think it’s ridiculous that a lot of us who write fanfiction for the series are pissed about it. More than a few of us noticed similarities between well known fanfiction and S5-6, and we are not amused. I just canceled my Netflix subscription and included references to these comments, pointing out that they shouldn’t assume all fans are penniless artists who can’t get a lawyer.

This may sound mean, but...

If you send me an ask containing links to Good Omens fan fiction you think I should read, I'll delete it. Do it again and I'll (regretfully) block you. This is a general blanket sort of thing -- I don't want to read it, legally I can't read it, no I won't make it into the next series, and, no matter how pure your motives, it's crossing a line.

thinking about how rtd always planned for rose and the doctor to end up together and that's literally why ten had his hand cut off in his first episode. in his original plan ten was gonna use that hand and actively build a clone of himself for rose and tbh i think THAT would have weirded me out. but the way that it happened - as an aborted regeneration in the middle of their reunion is SO MUCH BETTER and all the set up for it is still there. i just think it's shows how much planning the ending of an arc in the long term matters. it only worked because he didn't pull it out of his ass at the last minute, it had time to marinate and become better and an earned ending that makes sense if you pay attention to the narrative choices he made with the relationship right from the beginning. and just.. the way he went out of his way to make them have a happy ending when most people do the opposite is like. no idea how we got this lucky but whew.

Lessons Lucifer Season 6 Left Me With:

Life on Earth doesn't matter when compared to eternity.

A child of a previous relationship isn't as important as a child of the partner you're currently with.

Trauma makes you who you are, and you shouldn't want to erase that.

Everyone is deserving the chance of redemption, no matter what they do.

Free will is an illusion. No matter how much you fight for it, we all end up following God's plan.

If you like your job enough, you won't regret abandoning your child and the woman you love for it.

A parent abandoning their child is acceptable, as long as it's the best thing for them.

God was right to do what he did. In fact, he was the one who made the sacrifice by abandoning Lucifer, because it was painful for him. Casting Lucifer into Hell to be a torturer, letting him grow to hate himself to the point he thinks he's a monster incapable of love, it was all for a reason.

I think the older I get and the more media I consume, the more firmly I feel that Death of the Author is necessary. The Lucifer showrunners changing or elaborating things in post-show interviews doesn't win them any brownie points with me.

If it was part of their intention in the story for Lucifer to visit Chloe on Earth, hold baby Rory, or watch over his family from afar, then we should have seen that on the show. The finale could have been a longer epilogue in which we saw some of these moments. Chloe coming home to flowers and a note from Lucifer. Lucifer going into Rory's room at night when she's a baby to hold her. Lucifer hiding from Rory in Hell when she tries to find him. Lucifer watching his family from a distance while they play on the beach.

But I am unimpressed with these sorts of revelations coming out after the show is done. It feels like an attempt to placate people who didn't like the finale with scraps. And people who didn't like the ending don't need to be told "Well, actually, Joe and Ildy said..." No one should have to rely on Word of God revisions to make sense of the ending.

I'm using Joe and Ildy as an example here, but I'm not trying to trash them specifically. The same thing happens with so many writers/authors. (You know who I'm talking about.) This is common in a lot of media.

In the end, you should not have to rely on interviews to get what the show should have given you in the first place.
