Hoffman grasping onto Angelina’s hand while hysterical vs taking Strahm’s hand with a smile… Much to think about
I find his reaction to each of their mangled corpses really interesting and it highlights his development for the worse. When he sees Angelina he’s distraught, incoherent, overcome with a cocktail of grief and rage. Compare this to how he reacts to Strahm’s crushed body: he’s nonplussed, if not overjoyed, upon seeing his adversary’s demise.
It shows his desensitization to violence and his death of humanity. Even when watching Seth’s death, there is conflict on his face. He’s doesn’t like the brutality but can’t bring himself to look away.
Yet both of them result in the same thing, they both push Hoffman to do things he never thought he could. Angelina’s driving him to kill Seth and Strahm’s leading him to comitting justiceless killings, no longer bound by Jigsaw’s rules.
#Yeah I think about this every waking moment..#saw#mark hoffman#saw v#I’m tired and don’t know how to formulate words from abstract thoughts#i could probably elaborate more but WHATEVER#on my soapbox

I never want to hear anyone talk about classics as archaic again. When I see Victor Hugo discuss poverty and the ignorance it brings and how the fault is not that of the poor but of the rich. When I see him discuss the place of women and how they too have been robbed by ignorance. When I see him discuss the guillotine and how one does not truly see capital punishment until you see it at work. How can this be called anything but modern?

Whoops, made myself a lightning rod of hate for a second, there. So, brief soapbox moment while we get something… relatively straight. (ba-dum-tss.)
I have watched two (2) Nicholas Galitzine projects, ever. I have watched one (1) Taylor Zakhar Perez project, ever. Those cumulative three (3) projects form a Venn diagram with Red, White, and Royal Blue at the center. Can’t exactly accuse me of being a solo stan of either of them, to be honest — even though I think they’re both very pretty, and they have both done a good job in the projects I’ve seen that fit within my viewing tastes. I’ll probably never watch their projects that don’t align with my tastes, and that’s okay.
And in all seriousness, it is bullshit that people spew racist nonsense at Taylor. It is bullshit that people use his alleged but never confirmed relationship status as a sort of “gotcha.”
It is also bullshit that people have decided that Nick, with whom he is friends, is the villain in Taylor’s story. And yes, being racist or phobic in any sense is dumb and you should feel bad for slinging that shit around. But two things can be bad.
Basically, I don’t care what weaksauce excuse you’re using for throwing hate at Taylor or Nick, or for throwing ad hominem attacks at their fans’ inboxes. Truly don’t. I’d just like you to not be in my internet bubble while you’re doing it.
And please, don’t conflate razzing on someone’s outfit or their performance or something weird they’ve said in an interview with a personal attack against them. It’s possible to be a fan of someone or something and still not love every microscopic aspect of them. It’s possible to gently (or not) poke fun of the things you love. All you have to do to be a “true fan” of something is to be a fan of that thing, and anyone who tries to tell you that there are conditions to being a fan is selling something.

Fellow men, you're right to be angry, BUT, you're angry at the wrong people. Your problems are not the fault of women, feminism, racial minorities, or the LGBT. These groups are people that are exploited and hurt by the same system that you're being hurt by. And that's patriarchy, capitalism, and fascism.
DON'T BLAME IT ON THE GAY MEN, BLAME IT ON "THE MAN"
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE! OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT! ASSASSINATE ELON MU--
My lawyers have advised me to clarify that the overthrowing the government and assassinating Elon things were a bit, obviously you shouldn't actually go out and do that.
That said I do stand by what I said before that.
Men are being abused and manipulated by the system that claims to be keeping them in power-and it is keeping men in power, but only men who were born fabulously wealthy and well-connected. The average guy like you and me? We're nothing but blunt instruments to politicians and business men who control the world. Those people want to turn you into their willing slave army and turn you against women, minorities, and queer people while promising you purpose and fulfillment. Well you're not going to get purpose and fulfillment through misogyny, racism, or anti-LGBT bigotry, okay? You find purpose and fulfillment through KINDNESS! EMPATHY! COMPASSION! LOVE!
That's the kind of man I want to be. Not a he-man womun-hater. Someone who builds people up, not someone who tears others down.
I'm kind of rambling but I'm hoping someone understands what I'm trying to say. I'm a leftist, but I think a lot of leftist rhetoric intends to hold men accountable - which is good - but ends up either being or coming across as just bashing men and calling us evil - which is bad.
A lot of young men hear this rhetoric and don't hear "we need to hold men accountable for their actions", they hear "kill all men", whether or not that's the intended message, it's a harmful message that radicalizes impressionable men into hateful alt-right circles.
If you treat someone as the bad guy by default, then they're going to internalize that view of themselves, and instead of working to improve themselves, they'll embrace being the villain you tell them they are. If no one believes you can be better, why bother to prove them wrong?
Wow, I wrote a lot. ADHD POWERS ACTIVATE!
Well, TL;DR, uh... Don't hate the player hate the game?

Idc. Q was Moesha’s best boyfriend. THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN BRANDY AND FREDO, the fact that he was the most memorable, and the way they dominated season 2. Ghetto toxicity aside, they CARRIED (if you ignore the following seasons.)

oh that's what i was going to say. you should ignore people who say that you should ice plunge daily. it's usually someone with a discount code to get 10% off an at-home ice plunge (always ask who benefits) BUT it's really not the cure-all that the influencers make it out to be. yes, sometimes it can be good to maybe feel a bit more recovered but a) there's no research that temperature improves physiological recovery (it's better to just go for a swim bc it seems that the hydrostatic pressure of the water is more beneficial than the temperature), b) it gives you mental clarity the same way that sniffing ammonia gives you mental clarity (i.e. it's more the shock than anything else) and you probably don't need it to learn how to "tolerate discomfort" / be "mentally tough", and c) it's not always good to expose yourself to extreme temperatures like that - not all inflammation is bad: inflammation is part of the healing process of wounds &c., and cold temps can slow down the healing process, which is why they don't recommend icing as part of the recovery protocol for soft tissue injuries anymore (it used to be rest-ice-compression-elevation). it's just people trying to sell you stuff. you don't need an ice bath, you need to sleep more.

Too many people misinterpret Hoffman as some soulless emotionless killer for my liking. SORRY but in Saw V his internal conflict and distress is so obvious… after killing seth you’re able to see how distraught he is and man is near tears and shaking in john’s workshop and literally crying after kidnapping paul… then saying he Feels Remorse??? But no yeah ur right he just wants to torture people..
#he doesn’t kill anyone with his own hands until saw vi#clearly something snapped in him#but before that he used the guise of justice and the sort..#yadda yadda yadda…#mark hoffman#saw#on my soapbox

Begging people to stop describing owning Sylvia Plath books as a “red flag” even when they’re joking because they’re contributing to the mythology of Plath as a doomed tragic artist whose life would inevitably end in suicide. Because, no, no that’s not true. Sylvia Plath was not doomed to kill herself, no one is. She was a mentally ill woman who got terrible treatment which didn’t help and actively made her mental illness worse. She was also an incredibly ambitious woman worn down by the patriarchal standards of her day that saw women - even highly educated, incredibly intelligent women - as destined for motherhood and domestic labor. She struggled with that expectation her entire life, struggled with wanting to be the ideal and to fit in and also with wanting to break the mold.
Sylvia Plath is not a red flag. People who read and enjoy Plath are not inherently tortured or destined to end up like her. Plath is not radioactive. Please, I’m begging you to stop talking about Plath like this.

all the best and most interesting archival materials i've worked with have been used, written on, stickered, marked up in some way
you learn a lot more from the patterns of wear and use than you can from something pristine and untouched. also the little scribbled notes have actual *personality* which in my mind is what makes history worth studying - people are people no matter what era they lived through, and the best history is fundamentally about people
A brief moment of rationality from the bird place.
