Yes it’s very important for solidarity with workers but, and maybe this is an unpopular opinion, workers should have solidarity with poor customers. Like ignore shoplifting, be sensitive when ppl are using EBT cards, that kinda thing.
#I tell people all the time they dont pay me enough to work security#had some dude walk up to my register w a candybar and just straight up ask if he could take it#and yknow what?#sure bro#have a snickers

I was thinking about how ‘Grinch’ and ‘Scrooge’ are words for people who hate Christmas but aren’t exact synonyms and then this chart happened.

with healthcare being a bigger talking point here recently, I've been thinking about the stories my mom told me from her time in nursing school. She's a CNA and never graduated her program to become an RN, and when I'd asked about it she explained to me the phrase "nurses eat their young." Which meant to a 6 year old that the school work mustve been too hard. But its more a comment on how terribly treated those nurses were and how the program feels like it's created to spite the incoming nurses. The final nail in the coffin though? My mom treated a patient like a human being. And her instructor failed her for it.
I don't remember exactly if it was her final or something close to it, but my mom and her instructor/mentor/whatever were working in a clinic so my mom could get the firsthand experience she needed to graduate. She tells me about an older man, how her instructor told her not to speak to him because he wont respond. She tells me how the instructor is cold in the way that she mechanically takes his vitals and then turns to leave. My mom paused, confused, and asked if they weren't supposed to also change and bathe him as you could smell urine through the room. The instructor just rolled her eyes and said "no, leave him, he wont even notice."
My mom couldn't let it go though. She insisted the man be looked after properly and her instructor told her that if she provided any further care, she would be dropped from her program. My mom made her choice, and stayed behind to clean him up and make sure he was comfortable. She spoke to him as she worked and got a short conversation out of him too- turns out he was a lot more lucid than they thought.
She walked into her class the next day only to be told she'd been dropped from her school. And I've always thought it was a cruel irony that the one person who wanted to help, the one person with a dash of warmth, didn't even get the chance to finish school for it. And unfortunately the "mean nurse" stereotype isn't just a coincidence; mean girls are their target demographic.
#us healthcare#long post#this is a paraphrased story I heard 10 years ago#and this would've taken place in the early 2000s

saw a post that said "c-ai is for cowards, real men read fanfic" or something of that nature and. I just dont think the next generation of fandom will fully understand the pain and agony of trying to find self insert fic that was accurate enough to you.
The original "he would not fucking say that" was (y/n) making the most batshit, unrealistic choices and you just had to roll with it. Thats the person you are now. YOU chose to throw your hair into a messy bun and gaze at your orbs in the mirror before your mom sold you to one direction.
AND DONT GET ME STARTED on how much harder it got to find good self insert fic when you're looking for a queer or trans (y/n). Maybe it's easier now, but I remember the days when filtering tags to "trans MC" took you from 14k results to 6.
#on my soapbox#fanfic#ao3#wattpad#anti ai#this isnt in support of c ai btw#its about the work and reward of finding good fanfic

As people say "ohhh luigi's a right winger🥺" i will say, as a radical leftist, with all my heart: I do not give a fuck. My whole fucking life has been run by medical bills. My medication costs $300 a month WITH insurance. This dude has done more for national class consciousness than anyone has in the past decade. For the first time, so many people are realizing that it is not left and right. It's up and down. Do NOT listen to whiny ass separatists.
