i dont think any other show has had an impact on me as huge as awae. that show consumed my entire life for months and months when i was 15 and nothing has changed its so so dear to me

#ive been rewatching it for the past little bit and omg.#im remembering why i went insane when i heard that the show was canceled for s4. i literally follow amybeth on insta and i see ppl in her #comments begging all the time for season 4 and im not saying thats not annoying and inappropriate but GODDDD. SO TRUE SO TRUEEEEE.#we were ROBBED!!!!!!!#i remember the billboard they put up to try and renew the show and i think it was just an issue with the dude who played gilbert. which in #hindsight yeah that makes sense i remember feeling rly bad for him back in the day #but good lord awae season 4 would have been crazy. obviously i was extremely mentally ill at the time of s3's release so thats why i was so #obsessed HOWEVER watching it now its still deserving of my obsesion. so good #i keep editing these tags but awae was the hugest hyperfixation ive had in all my time of existing. like ive been rly into other sorts of #media ie demon slayer and homestuck but im telling yall for about 10 weeks (awae was releasing one episode per week when they aired s3)#there was not a waking moment where i wasnt thinking about that show. and every sunday i would go into the canadian website using a vpn and #watch that show after i was done with my hw. it was like church for crazy people (me)#ok final edit but i think i filter myself a lot on here in comparison to before cuz i used to overshare wayy too much on tumblr #but this is the realest ive been in a hot minute

Watching something for my historical geology class and started screeching when they mentioned the hedgehog gene. I was like, “wait, I remember researching chicken beaks and reptile snouts, isn’t there a sonic hedgehog gene out there?” And yeah, these guys discovered and named it working with chicken embryos. Apparently Sonic Hedgehog is responsible for most development patterns during embryo development. Specifically for limbs. And apparently if it’s a little too concentrated, you can get extra digits on all your limbs.

What I’m saying is, I think I figured out how Ford has six fingers on each hand. Man was stuck in the multiverse when we put the pieces together, though.

#1. metroid prime trilogy: my first dive into metroidvania games and to this day it is probably my favorite genre next to soulsborne.#also as a space nerd egg “wow she's so cool i wish i could be like her” lmaooooo buddy..#2. eternal darkness sanity's requiem: REALLY great unique game. graphics r a bit dated but i think it otherwise holds up rly well.#great spellcasting system with a rock beats scissors beats paper type of thing between different uh. “types” of magic? sourced #from different gods that seem to exist outside of time. idk what bar it raised exactly but it made a strong impression on me #and I've been wishing i had something like it ever since. the sequel has been started multiple times but i don't think it's ever #gonna happen 😔 nintendo has some surprisingly GREAT rated R games.#3. fallout new vegas/skyrim: having enjoyed these so much I've had them on every system i think getting them for PC was a literal #game changer. i played vanilla then ultimate editions and Thought i played them to death but once i got console access on PC??#it kinda served as my entry point to using mods and recently I've even made my own mod for elden ring and dark souls 3 (⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)#not that I really needed or used mods with those games - but just kinda being Aware™ that being on PC means u have access #to the game's underlying functionality that you don't get on console. making bat scripts for skyrim/fonv made for some #HILARIOUS gameplay 😭#4. Sonic adventure 2 battle: rly just the sonic games in general but this one FUCKS. Songs r bangers. love the characters.#u low-key kidnap the president for a bit?? more like u break into his car to talk with him nonchalantly lol but still 💀#i listen to the OST to this day!!! when i think of a favorite GameCube game this is one of the first to come to mind.#and the chaos 🥺🥺🥺 and Rogue hey queen (⁠｡⁠ﾉ⁠ω⁠＼⁠｡⁠)#5. hard to pick a Last One here.. I'm sure there are a lot of games that could be a stand-in choice but RE4/Dead Space Trilogy:#these were some GREAT horror survival games with a good plot and engaging gameplay. Dead Space especially was one me and #all my friends played and took turns playing (⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)⁠❤ just the time spent together alone was good but just rly solidifying that #u can have horror a good plot And good gameplay all in one. i love survival horror as a genre to this day (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠) wish i could #remember others i played but i can't?? speaks to how iconic they were at the time though.#6. (honorable mention) the mass effect trilogy: u wanna talk about great plot and engaging gameplay?? these games were SO #fucking good omg 😭 i LOVE the lil class system and the different abilities u get to use i loved that u could carry ur character and #decisions across games. and the fucking TRAGEDY of ur faves not making it thru the ending of ME2 (⁠〒⁠﹏⁠〒⁠) I fr #Went Back so i could try again and again till i at LEAST saved Jack but also saved everyone.#i think the emotional payoff for all ur characters ur invested in r pretty good when u make it to the third since it's p cinematic?#kinda want to play it again. ick do i want to touch the origin launcher though is the real question (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠) i bought it in a bundle #on steam and immediately asked for a refund when i realized i couldn't just play it through the steam launcher (⁠ノ⁠｀⁠⌒⁠´⁠)⁠ノ⁠┫⁠：⁠・⁠┻⁠┻#anyways. lots of time spent there too and another addition to the “you can have fun gameplay AND a great plot” pile.

As someone relatively new to the fandom, without a very clear picture of the comic’s evolution over the years, it’s very cool to see the changes of a character’s personality laid out like that. Like watching one of those time-lapse videos of plants growing.

Except instead of a plant, it’s a time lapse of a somewhat annoying yet confident and capable kid evolving into the poster child for perfectionism and anxiety. Which is kind of sad, but also a little funny when it’s literally represented with an arrow plummeting downwards with no sign of stopping. He’s just going to get more neurotic. There’s no end in sight.

Honestly, relatable.

dilton’s smugness has changed so much over the years. like i’m still amazed by his evolution from Boy Genius to Boy Genius But With Human Emotions.

i sketched out a graph of his smugness as a function of time:

#life is hard on the bottom half of the graph #I feel a little called out #ESPECIALLY that part about ‘phrasing something slightly inaccurately’#all of it’s relatable but THAT part feels so specific #I double check the definitions of words I already know and rephrase things a million times because I hate being misinterpreted #and I’m scared that I’ll say something wrong and look like an idiot #(like for instance I googled ‘neurotic’ even though I’ve both looked up the definition before and used the word many times in the past)#(…what if I remembered it wrong? what if someone calls me out on it?)#and missing a negative sign on a math problem is the WORST THING because you KNEW exactly what you were supposed to do and it was so close #to perfect but NOOOOO one tiny little screwup a few steps back ruins the whole thing and you have to backtrack and erase half your work and #it never looks fully erased so you’re stuck looking at the faint ghosts of your former screwups while you fix the thing you SHOULD have been #able to do right the FIRST time but nooo you just had to miss that stupid tiny detail and #…and I think I’ve said too much #anyway thank you ghoststudios for sending me this post #and apologies to hotdogwithagun for dragging up this post from 2017 and venting all over it #hopefully a person (dog?) with such an awesome username is the patient type #(edit: or… the hasn’t been active in years type)#(thats ok that’s ok time passes and I’m always late to the party)#(edit 2: OMG THEY’RE BACK)
