Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: Spirit Untamed
Why the fuck does this movie exist? No really, why does it exist? Who asked for a Spirit reboot (not a sequel, because it isnt a sequel, its a reboot for some reason) in the year of our lord 2021? Who asked for this to be released in theaters? And why is it honest to god one of the worst movies I've had the displeasure of watching as part of this marathon???
Ugh, ok so we follow a girl named Lucky, who's visiting her estranged father for the summer alongside her uptight aunt Cora. While there, she meets a captured wild horse, which she quickly bonds with and names Spirit, while also befriending two other local Horse Girls (get ready to hear me say Horse GIrls a lot bc this is literally Horse Girls The Movie). When Spirit's herd is captured by bandits, its up to these Horse GIrls to go on a grand adventure and rescue them.
Yeah, basic plot with insanely basic characters because this movie is for Babies and Horse GIrls. I don't know what else to fucking say. Everything about this movie screams childish and pandering, from the way these characters are written (its set in the early 1900s, but these kids use words like "totally" and make friendship bracelets omg besties, jfc shoot me) from the shitty pop songs to even how it looks (more on that in a bit). There's like... basically nothing appealing about this film if you aren't a very small child or obsessed with horses and even then, the horses element of it is just oh, look at horse make big jump! oh look at horse bond with horse girl! And it gets so damn old so damn fast.
The characters here are all as basic as they can be. Lucky is your typical headstrong preteen, who is way too overconfident in her own abilities, to the point that she's kind of moronic imo? Her friends aren't much better and barely have personalities outside of being there to support Lucky and be her omg besties! Spirit is just... fuckin there, he has no real personality, unlike the original movie where he had a bunch, without even saying a word. Lucky's dad is the most Generic Dreamworks Dad with hangups I've ever seen, I guess Aunt Cora is probably the only semi fun character in the cast, and the bad guy, fuck he was so ineffective and boring I don't even remember his name. The only thing I do remember is his face is weirdly smooshed and he got defeated by a goddam Horse Girl, of all things, jesus christ man, that's taking a major L.
The animation here is just plain pathetic. I understand that this was basically made to launch a Netflix spinoff series, but fuck man, this released in theaters. Does Dreamworks have no fucking shame? Even some of their earliest CGI movies looked better than this bland, uninteresting looking style they have going on here. The music is every bit as boring and forgettable, with again, shitty pop songs. Yay. Just what we need more of.
So yeah, this one fucking sucked. The only good thing I can say about it is it was mercifully short. But like... it was so goddamn boring, man. Even Boss Baby, for as bad as it was, was at least interesting to watch bc you wanted to see how batshit bad it would get. This was just... hard to even focus on with how dull and predictable it was. So thanks, Dreamworks, for releasing this second rate trash heap in theaters, because otherwise I would have never ruined an evening of my life watching it. Seriously, thanks for that. T-T
Overall Rating: 2/10
Verdict: Banished to Horse GIrl Country

Once Upon a Time season 2 thoughts
I’m rewatching OUAT and I wanted to share some of my opinions on each season!
- “are the nuns still nuns or can they… y’know date? Don’t say it’s me asking” Dr Whale you rascal
- Rumple x smashing glass: the real otp
- Rip Charming’s mom, you kinda remind me of Hercules’ mom
- Ok I kinda like Dr Whale now
- Regina it’s been DECADES you need to move on from Daniel
- I ship Emma and Neal so hard
- Wow the introduction of captainswan AND swanfire in one episode???
- Nooooo Belle crossing the town line :(
- This arc was TRAGIC
- NO NOT THE CHIPPED CUP
- Ugh I hate the Greg and Tamara arc
- Ruby x whale??? Why do I kinda ship it
- “What’s his name?” “Baelfire” “A STRONG NAME” what a delivery
- Robert Carlyle is the best actor in the cast
- Nooooo he just wanted to be a good dad
- Okay I’m really starting to not like Regina
- Idk why she is mad at snow and not cora, THE ACTUAL PERSON WHO KILLED DANIEL
- Snow’s mom: coughs into a handkerchief, me: SATINE
- Drink every time rumple says “bae”
- The casting of young snow was spot on, their mannerisms are so alike
- He called him papa… I’m crying
- NO IT WAS CORA
- Literally why does she hate Eva so much
- Regina you’re on the wrong side, killing daniel was part of her ten step plan to make you queen
- She just threw mrs patmore out of the window
- Not Tamara
- Pettiness runs in the Mills family
- Cora: murdered eva because she tripped her once years before
- Regina: wants to kill snow and everyone close to her because she didn’t keep a secret when she was TEN

- I hate Greg/Owen so much you have no idea
- Wooden august looks rough
- Like it’s not terrible but it’s not good either
- The dragon: is a magical powerful man, also the dragon: gets killed by a taser
- THE TASER SHOULD NOT HAVE AFFECTED AUGUST BECAUSE HE IS MADE OF WOOD WHICH DOESN’T CONDUCT ELECTRICITY
- Noooo why did blue turn him into a little boy and not a hot guy again
- GREG AND TAMARA LEAVE RIGHT NOW
- I can’t decide which I hate more cora x rumple or greg x tamara
- Both have such gross energy
- REGINA YOU ARE RUINING RUMBELLE
- “I can’t focus on my spinning with all your crying” lol

- The sound rumple makes when he sees the prisoner is gone lol
- Wingman charming
- “I’m so sorry about your dress…” why don’t you take it off? ;)
- Did they recast Robin Hood? That’s weird
- She’s into him being evil…
- Rumbelle is so cute omg
- “Jail cell? I don’t think so” lol
- “She’s the evil one” GIRL YOU JUST KILLED AN ENTIRE VILLAGE
- I’m sorry I just can’t get behind Regina
- She’s just so manipulative and has zero regret for everything she’s done

Season rating: 5/10
I hate hate hate the whole Greg and Tamara plot, also Cora x Rumple grossed me out, but there was a lot of Rumbelle content (it was really sad though)

OMG YESSS. Why was Stiles in agony about D.H.? I remember my first watch of all the mentioned above and was like ??? very confused. I wasn't even a fan of Sterek or knew what it was when I watched the show, but ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. They weren't even depicted as friends, yet MR STILES TOOK HIS TIME TO STARE AT D.H. AS IF TO REMEMBER A LOST LOVE. DEREK CHOSE STILES TO ANCHOR HIM. ALSO why did Stiles give that expression in 5x2 when Scott was talking about trust and mentioned Derek? Like I know they were talking about Theo, but why put so much emphasis on Derek's name?
That whole scene about Paige telling us something, was excellent piece of writing, I'm sad they didn't do something further with it, they just mentioned the story and moved on. Makes me think, is Derek 'accidently' sacrificing Paige woke the nemetion, which made it appreciative and decided to give a gift to Derek (maybe that gift is in the form of a child named Eli and maybe because Derek wanted to keep his family name alive and what's better than an offspring and the kid is so Stiles maybe because when Stiles (who was a virgin at time) sacrificed himself for his dad gave power back to nemeton and now we got a tree that ships Sterek)? Ok I might've went a little crazy on that. ANYWAYS, I always thought that Peter telling the story was because obviously it was all his fault, but he didn't want Stiles, the smartest in the team, the guy that got the best senses when it comes to trust, to suspect him of anything or even dismiss him. But Cora. You'd think she would've at least attempted to stop Peter, but she suggested STILES ASKING DEREK ABOUT IT AS IF SHE KNEW HER BROTHER WOULDN'T KILL HIM FOR EVEN KNOWING THE STORY. Now I want to know if Stiles did actually ask him.
You know what I can't wrap my head around? The fact that Derek Hale CARRIED Stiles. Like I would've assumed he would let someone from Stiles' team to deal with it or even just drag him to safety, but no mr sir full on bridal carried him and Stiles wasn't even embarrassed about it or tried to dodge it. And they even came back together, like what was the car ride like? I feel robbed of that scene.
I can't believe that I almost forgot how Derek, who had relations with Jennifer, trusted Stiles over her. Those people are insane for not even touching on Sterek, I'm actually more insane for still being on this ship.
Thinking about how Derek is so hard to contact all the time, but when they were like “Stiles is missing” he immediately showed up.
Thinking about how Scott and Isaac, who see Stiles almost every day, had to go back to his room for a stronger scent. But Derek didn’t.
Thinking about how Derek got to the roof of the hospital first and was like “Stiles was here. He was anxious. He was fighting with himself”.
Thinking about how Derek was the one giving the Jeep a jump start because he knows how important the Jeep is to Stiles.
Thinking about how when he was told “I think Stiles is the one possessed” he immediately dismissed it, but figured out what happened and went straight to Scott instead of telling anyone else. And instead of trying to kill him.
Thinking. Thinking. Thinking.

IF ANYONE WANTS WRITING INSPO
ok here’s the thing. I’m way too lazy and unmotivated to write a whole series, I am in awe of anyone who can actually do that or has done it. But in the spirit of ✨ hypocrisy✨ , of course I love reading them, and thinking about ideas for some series that will never actually come to fruition. So, for all the ACOTAR writers out there, I have a way-too-long idea for an Azriel x reader that I want to read as a series, or even like a couple of snippets of writing. Here it is:
Ok, so our (preferably female bc it’s my request but I’m not trying to disclude people here it’s just my preference) MC (I like the name Kora/Cora, or Arya, whatever, but y’know, since I’m not writing this, it’s not exactly my decision to make, it could just be Y/N, that’s fine too). Anyways, she’s half-seraphim, from Cretea, and is the commander of the seraphim/Cretea army. Now, here’s where the pick your story begins. I was thinking that she could be Drakon’s sister or something, to make her a princess, even though she only acts like a commander (I love nicknames that have a meaning. So like if Azriel calls the reader angel, it’s because of her white seraphim wings, and if he calls her princess, it’s because she actually is one). So she can either be his sister, or just the commander. She was old enough to have fought in that big war that happened with Miryam and stuff about the humans or whatever. IMPORTANT PART OF THIS: MC has water and ice powers, but to a massive scale. Like she can raise ocean tides, create snow/hailstorms, all that good stuff. I was thinking she could be called a Tidemaker, like in the Grishaverse, but you could totally change around the name. That’s the base of her character. Other than what I described, free reign to whoever is crazy enough to read/write this.
So now, I think of this as a slight (major) rewrite. This takes place right after Feyre makes it back home from enemy Tamlin. So, Hybern’s armies attack Createa for some UnKnOwN reason. Maybe MC’s dad/parental figure dies in the battle, and MC is filled with grief and rage. MC fights against them until she’s bloody and battered, using the ocean and sky as her weapons. Cretea is utterly destroyed, and she tries flying to a safe place. She had met Rhysand, Cassian, and our boy Azriel before during that Great War, because she was a commander, and the Night Court was allied with Cretea at the time. She remembers this, and tries to fly all the way to Velaris. She just makes it before collapsing/passing out, and Azriel’s shadows bring him to her.
Now, our boy is shocked because he actually used to have a little crush on MC the war so many decades ago. He sees her about to die and starts to ✨ panic✨ , obviously. So, I’m thinking he tells his shadows to find Madja, and busts into the House of Wind or something, and like alerts everyone by just saying “it’s Kora/Arya/MC”. So blah blah blah, cute Azriel taking care of MC moments, she tells them what she remembers about being attacked, etc. ALSO, i think it would be SO GREAT if Cassian and Rhysand called her Goose, instead of dove, or one of those other cheesy nicknames. Geese still have white wings, so it kinda fits. I just think it would be kinda funny if the first time they were meeting to discuss war strategy, MC showed off all of her powers, and established herself as a powerful, bad b****h, and these idiots call her a goose. AnYwAyS, time skip to the meeting with the high lords cause I don’t think things through. MC comes in later than our night court buddies because she “likes to make an entrance”, and walks in there with like a crown of gold laurels (i like that as a crown idea), and like a sage green dress or something (GREEN AND GOLD IS SO PRETTY), and is all like “hello ladies! and boys. What did I miss?” after not being there for like 200 years. Everyone is shocked, and she has a little spat with Beron, where she’s like “You’re just itching to play, huh Beron? Well, I’ll warn you, fire doesn’t tend to thrive with someone like me *smirk*.” I’M DYING. And meanwhile Azriel’s *mini* crush is slowly developing even more. So after that idc what happens, BUT. I think it would be great if Cassian made MC a general or something to help him out in the war with Hybern. Then, when she goes to leave after the war, to rebuild Cretea, and Rhys and Cass ask her to stay, she give a condition, which is that she wants to train the Illyrian girls. And she would leave after she feels like that initiative is set in place. So once she sees that females are being trained, she leaves. Later, Cass invites her for winter solstice very last minute, so she comes with one gift, for our special somene, AZZY BOY!. And it’s a moonflower in an ice sphere, cause headcannon: Azriel likes moonflowers, and so does MC. One day they were walking together or flying together, and she saw some, and pointed them out. Then Azriel plucked one and TUCKED IT IN HER HAIR OMG GET ME SOMEONE LIKE AZRIEL. And he’s like amazed that she remembered and saved the flower. Crush level rising. But at the same time, Elain seems interested in him, which MC can see, and thinks that Az likes Elain, so she goes back to Cretea cause she a little bit jelly.
I’m not a romance writer, so I was just thinking that once Cretea is close to rebuilt, MC invites everyone to come visit, and is taking a stroll with Azriel. She sees moonflowers again, and this time she plucks one and puts it in his hair, and goes “Damn. I bet I didn’t look this good when that thing was in my hair.” And then Azriel mutters under his breath, “you did. you looked ethereal. like an angel.” but MC kinda hears a little bit of it, so she gives Azriel a little kiss on his jaw, cause she can’t reach his cheek (THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE I’M SCREAMING) and says “I heard that Az. I think you look ethereal too.” He’s one blushy boy after this. omg why am I like this. But, plot twist, Elain saw this whole interaction go down and gets PISSED. Meanwhile, MC drags Azriel around, while he trails behind her like an awestruck puppy. She finds a starfruit tree (which I’m making native to Cretea, like it’s a rare thing elsewhere) and gets some seeds from them from Elain, saying that it would be good for her garden. And Azriel just thinks about how thoughtful she is, even to people she doesn’t necessarily like. They get back, and Elain is complaining about how Azriel chose MC over her to Nesta , who I think would be besties with MC. MC walks into the room and hears. Elain realizes this and tries to insult/yell at MC. But MC just had a sad smile and goes, “I brought you some starfruit seeds, Elain. They’re only native to Cretea, and I thought it might be good for your garden. Good night Elain.” OK so this is why I think it would be good if MC was Drakon’s sister and a princess. She knows she’s a princess, but she really only considers herself to be a commander. She’s debating going back to Cretea, or staying, and she tells Azriel that she’s prob gonna leave soon. And our bat boy is all ✨ panik✨ when he hears this. He says “But I wa - everyone wants you to stay”. MC smirks and goes “what were going to say Az. They’re like really close together now, so Az leans down and gives her a gentle kiss and goes, “I want you stay”. MC is stunned for a moment, and looking dazed, goes “well then I guess I’m staying.”AHHHHHHHHH. She can prob be a general under Cass.
OK SO I DO HAVE AN IDEA FOR MORE WITH OUR ANGEL AND DEVIL. Where they discover the mating bond, there’s a big threat on Cretea, MC is a bad b***h as always, and protective Azriel makes several appearences.
Y’all can make up some situations after this as well, or if you want, which I don’t know why you would, my disorganized mess of a brain can write more about the thing above.
OMG THIS WAS WAY TOO LONG. Plz tell me if u guys liked this, or are actually gonna write this crap. And let me know is you have questions! Have a nice day lovelies!

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 6x12 Murder Most Foul
Oh! This is a Charming centric, I think? Awesome!
Aww! Baby David and James!!
So James was named before he was adopted. Interesting that George and his wife chose to keep that name.
I wonder which twin is older. I think I’ve said this before. I hc that David is younger by a few minutes.
Omg Ruth pointed a knife at Rumple for trying to take one of her sons.
That really must be an impossible decision.
Rumple gave him the coin!
I forgot they went by heads or tails. I thought David was just Ruth’s favourite.
Uggggh! That’s so horrible! It hurts!
Creepy ghost is creepy!
Archie! I miss seeing Archie more. I wonder if he has any trauma from when Killian kidnapped him. And now he’s his therapist!
Snowing miss each other so much!
David is going through the motions today!
Neighbouring king? I always thought Ruth and David lived in King George’s kingdom. Do you think that if King George knew about David as well, he would have adopted him too, by force if he had to, in order to keep the secret? I think he would have. If someone saw another boy looking exactly like the prince, then they may have said something. Though, would it have to be a secret? Were they allowed to have adopted heirs in their realm? I mean, Regina would have made Henry heir to her throne and then she is not Queen due to line of succession even though she was born a princess. Couldn’t King George change the law if he wanted? It may have been an issue if the secret was the reason he wanted to kill David’s father. Oh, in England it’s been illegal for centuries apparently. That is beyond stupid! What are you gonna do if the next in line to the throne is asexual or gay and wants to adopt or just wants to only adopt? Not that I’m a fan of the concept of royalty in the real world but that’s straight up discrimination! Laws may be different in the EF though. I just can’t remember why George wanted to kill David’s dad.
Awww look at little David!!
Omg he’s adorable!!
David, honey, you need to get some sleep. I know you miss Snow, but you probably haven’t slept in ages!
Maybe David is seeing things that aren’t there. I always start seeing things that aren’t there when I haven’t slept, especially spiders. I f***ing hate spiders.
Talking to a dead significant other’s alternative self must be so weird. Are they trying to court over stories of the original Robin? *whispers* That’s kinda weird.
Zelena, what the hell? That’s not even his child. Calm down, girl.
I mean, I guess she is biologically his child. When an identical twin is an uncle, do they have dna matches as if they were the biological father also? I’ve probably asked this before. And then when it comes to alternate versions of the same person, don’t they share 100 per cent the same DNA? So biologically Robin Jr. may be Wish Robin’s child. The same goes for Original Hook and Alice and Wish Hook and Hope, I suppose. I wonder if the Hooks would act like uncles to the kids that aren’t technically theirs.
Zelena, that was so random.
That’s not even the Nottingham you know, Robin!
Was this what original Robin meant about having a dark past, or something. Was he like this before?
I wanna see Emma and Henry’s canoeing trip!! If there are any edits of this, please point me to them!
Wait, there’s another curse Emma wants to break? I can’t remember there being one. What happened this time? Oh! Her parents’ sleeping curse! I thought there was another dark curse I’d missed. That could have very well been the case.
“I’d do anything to see my boy and tell him I’m sorry.” You can see Rumple felt that because it’s exactly what he wants to do. He doesn’t even need a hair from his head, he’s just trying to keep his image up. Really he’s helping him for free because he knows what that pain is like. Yep, he threw it away!
Rumple: “Someday, may we all be reunited with our sons.”
You go canoeing Emma! You guys have fun!
Why didn’t Regina give those hearts back once she decided to turn over a new leaf? I know she said she took so many she lost track but if everyone who’s heart was taken came forward, they might be able to figure it out through trial and error.
She really was hoping to get with this Robin so that they could be part of each other's fresh starts. But wouldn’t that feel like a betrayal to the other Robin? It’s kinda like replacing him with a copy.
Oh snap! They kissed! Regina, don’t do this, girl. It’s too weird.
He’s stolen something, hasn’t he.
Pleasure island makes me feel so uneasy. I used to be terrified of Disney’s Pinocchio. Pleasure island is just creepy in that movie.
I hate the fact that they put Pinocchio in the flashback of this episode so much. If we’re to assume this puppet is physically 6 or 7 then he’s probably older than David! He must have remained physically a 6 or 7 year old puppet for at least 20 years. I liked him being closer to Emma’s age. Why did they retcon this? And this Pinocchio has so much more attitude than the young Pinocchio we’ve seen in previous episodes.
I love James’ Prince outfit! It’s so cool! Omg! I’ve just realised it’s the same outfit the prince wears in the Snow White Disney movie!! How have I not realised this before?!
James doesn’t want to kill things! George completely manipulated him. He had a good heart and why would George do this to his frightened son?? And he’s only 6! So cruel!
Nope. That doesn’t make sense. No way August took the pages about Pinocchio out of the book. Henry had already read the whole book by then. The whole idea was that August added the story of Pinocchio to help Emma figure things out or something. Henry said the Pinocchio story wasn’t there before when he got his book back.
David, no!
I feel so sad for James. He’s just a kid. Leave him alone! Let him run through the forest and sing to birds, as Disney princes should. George basically got James killed. Just be a decent father, George and don’t be so cruel to your own freaking son. Jeez! I bet he was a horrible, controlling husband too. He is so controlling!
Random thought but I kinda ship James with Zelena. They both had terrible fathers. Zelena had two! I wonder if she ever met her other dad. Would she have pulled a Tom Riddle and killed him?
David’s dad stood his ground. He was told of James’ father’s abuse and tried to protect James, even knowing he would pay dearly. And then afterwards no one was left to protect James. Maybe his mother did before she died and maybe that’s when George began trying to force him to become a knight. I like to think his mother was loving to him until she died when he was young like Zelena’s was. They got a taste of unconditional love in their early years and then it was torn away from them and replaced with control and/or contempt.
This guy has just told James he is his biological father, George acknowledges this and then tells them to kill him in front of Janes?! How freaking heartless!
Look how angry David was when he thought he’d found the man who killed his father. Then when he realises it was Killian he’s like “it’s all cool bruh. We chilling at Granny’s tonight?” Let. The. Charmings. Express. Their. Anger. And. Pain. It’s like Regina and Killian are Gods to them who can do know wrong, require instant forgiveness and nothing must be spoken against them. As for other villains, good freaking luck! And if your one of the Charmings or considered a hero from the start, if you so much as look at someone the wrong way you are the worst most evil villain in existence. Like Eva. Due to her deeds, which I agree weren’t nice, Regina considered her the villain as compared to freaking Cora. What??! She was the bully in that situation, yes, but how can you compare her misdeeds to Cora’s?!
David, bby!! I’m sorry! I love you!
Oh Lord, I’m crying!
I want to hug David so badly!
David says he doesn’t know if he has a way to repay Killian, Killian says he may have an idea and then asks for David’s blessing. Like, “Yeah you can repay me! Repay me with your daughter’s hand in marriage, suckkker!!”
Hey! I’ve kissed many photographs of my dog! And if you believe hard enough, they will walk through the photo into your living room and frighten the sh*t out of you!
Called it! He did steal something.
Interesting choice for August to give Killian the pages with him killing David’s dad. He should have given them straight to David. Maybe that’s what Wish Pinocchio meant when he said that Emma put her faith in him and that he hopes she never does that again. I love August but maybe Blue imbued him with some of her shadiness when she turned him into a real boy.
And Killian was naughty to look at those pages. Or maybe that moment wasn’t part of those pages. Maybe Killian just recognise the face of the man he ruthlessly killed!
The thing is, why would Killian care if he saw him kill the King’s men? He’s spent years rebelling against royalty. I’m sure he’s known by now.
Killian must be taking one of his trips from Neverland ordered by Pan at this point.
The heartlessness! He hears the man has a family and a child, he believed him and then kills him horribly afterwards. This has got to be one of the evilest things Killian ever did. And it’s Emma’s grandfather!!
Even one of his crewmates is look looking at him like “Wtf.” It makes me so angry. Don’t get me wrong, I actually think it was a great twist, but I hate how it was handled. I hate that David, who was so hurt by this didn’t get to express his anger at Killian towards him or at all. That’s just not realistic. I guess he was following how Snow forgave Regina for killing her father. But even that took many years, not freaking minutes!
At least tell Emma.
Is that ring getting smaller the more I look at it or am I high on my meds?

A/N: Happy Labor Day, friends! (If you’re in a place that celebrates it) (if not, then Happy Monday!) It took me a bit to figure out where this chapter would end and the next one would start but I finally got it, so here we are! This chapter is a bit more lore/world-building than CS, but it features Zelena and Belle, who are a lot of fun to write. Hope you enjoy it! Eternal thanks, as always, to @optomisticgirl for being an awesome beta; to @thesschesthair for her amazing art (THIS ONE IS SO COOL OMG); and to @kmomof4 and @cssns for putting this event on and pushing me to continue this story!
have some OBC—and check out that sweet late ‘50s choreography!
part four: you got some high times ahead
Perhaps if Killian was less of a romantic, less dramatically inclined, he would have remembered the best way to get to Granny’s without being noticed by David would have been to stay on the rooftops. As it was, he had to sprint several blocks in the other direction after bidding Emma adieu to ensure her father didn’t catch him in the neighborhood when he hardly had a reason to be there.
Who knew that, at 270, he’d be sneaking out of his girlfriend’s place to avoid her parents? He hadn’t even done that at 27. (Also, who thought that, at 270, he’d actually be using the term ‘girlfriend’? Was it too soon for that? Was it immature? Did he care? No.)
But, thanks to his superior age and therefore speed, it was no challenge to detour all the way to Hudson Yard and take in a bit of sea air before heading back into the city, eventually hopping across apartment buildings to better avoid being seen, and landing gracefully in Granny’s back alley. He was late, but he didn’t have it in him to care much.
He didn’t want to let his friends down, though, so he didn’t hesitate to slip in through the rear door of the diner. Frankly, that entrance got just as much use as the one on the street did; not only was Granny’s a neutral site as far as vampire gang warfare went, it was something of a liminal space in the middle of the rush of the city: how many 24-hour diners catered to the tastes of all manner of nonhumans? Fae conducted business here on the regular, Bigfoot was known to make the occasional appearance when he was down from the Adirondacks, and the owner herself was a werewolf.
The woman in question gave him an appropriately feral grin as he entered the dining room; normally, he’d take the time to flirt, but the meeting had clearly started without him. Robin and David were seated on opposite sides of a small table, with their teammates around them—Henry and Will, another younger vampire (well, comparatively) were with Robin, and David was backed by that Graham guy, Jefferson the weird milliner, and Zelena, who he knew was close with Cora (and had been plain annoying as far back as he could remember).
“Switchblades?” Robin said; they’d clearly made some decisions without him. That might make it a bit harder for Killian to quash this.
“No; swords?” David countered.
“Daggers?”
“Stakes?”
“Icicles of holy water,” Killian interjected into their back and forth, somehow making them jump. “Sharpened stems of garlic. How many cliches can we hit on here?”
Robin looked appropriately chastised, but David just glared.
“What did I miss?” he asked Robin, but David answered for him.
“Rumble, tomorrow, same time as now. Under the highway. Winner gets control of territory between 42nd and 43rd. We were just deciding weapons.”
“Are you all mad?” he blurted out. “That’s a fine way to draw the attention of half the NYPD and blow the entire supernatural world’s cover. You may as well take out a billboard in Times Square.”
The ensuing silence told him they knew he was right. But he could tell tensions were too high for him to convince them to call it off entirely; he could at the very least minimize the potential damage.
“Back in my day,” he started, immediately ignoring the huff of frustration from Will, who had been subjected to any number of such stories in the past 30 years, “we settled these disputes one-on-one. A duel, if you would. I see no reason why such a tradition has to die.”
Again, he was met with silence; he took the lack of protest as agreement.
“One on one,” he continued. “The most evenly matched from both sides fight it out until blood is drawn. No weapons, no teeth.”
Jefferson looked incensed at the idea, and he could tell Will was angrily shifting behind him. If they wanted to duke it out, they could do that on their own; Killian’s days of fighting were well behind him and the sooner this was over, the better.
“I can agree to that,” David eventually said.
“Aye,” Robin replied, and they shook on it.
Graham stepped from behind David and pointed at Killian. “I’m going to enjoy drawing your blood, mate,” he threatened.
Emma hadn’t mentioned it, but he’d gotten the impression that Graham was the preferred suitor. But frankly, he found him irritating. “Oh? Are you 250 years old?”
“No; 160,” he answered, slightly deflated (which gave Killian a tiny, immature thrill).
“Then I believe you’re perfectly matched with Robin here; he’s 168.” He slapped Robin on the shoulder for emphasis.
Robin stood and inserted his hand between Killian and Graham. “Looking forward to it,” he bit out.
Slightly bewildered, Graham accepted Robin’s hand, but was still glaring at Killian.
They verified the details, gave it one last shake, and then Coroza was quick to leave. Which was just as well; Killian didn’t need any daggers, real or metaphorical, shooting in his back while he was drinking.
The four of them congregated at the counter and were promptly greeted by Granny. “That smelled like trouble,” the old wolf stated plainly, but leveled a too-sharp eye on all of them. “Should I be worried?”
“Your establishment is perfectly safe, milady,” Robin assured her. “You know we’d never dare risk the loss of your hospitality.” Though the mortals were somehow unaware of the fact, she’d been running some sort of eating establishment in the same spot as far back as Killian could remember, though back then it was a public house and she was merely the Young Mrs. Lucas (the title of ‘Granny’ didn’t come for another century). Not only was it neutral ground, but it was too beloved for any one group to let it fall into any crosshairs.
“Damn straight,” she grumbled back, then got their drink orders ready.
Henry and Will quickly fell into conversation, so Killian turned to Robin. “Why wasn’t Regina here?” He’d fully expected it, given that she’d been part of this for...well, ever.
“She decided to sit this one out. Figured it didn’t make for good negotiation if Nolan was involved.”
“Good call.” But then a pang went through his unbeating heart at the recollection of what Emma had been telling him—about why she grew up an orphan, and who was to blame. He’d known Regina quite well by that point in time, and had no idea why she’d attack a couple like that—especially all the way in Maine. It didn’t add up.
But then, how much of this petty rivalry did?
Robin went on, not noticing Killian’s discomfort. “Aye, especially with Zelena there. You know how they are.” The rivalry seemed especially bitter between those two for reasons that Killian had yet to glean.
Granny gracefully distributed their drinks in a feat of dexterity that was obviously superhuman, and they clinked a toast—though if Killian’s was less than enthusiastic, the others didn’t notice.
They continued to chat about whatever—the Yankees, the Mets, Liverpool FC (three of the four of them were Brits, after all, even if two of them predated the club), construction at Hudson Yard—until Killian noticed that Henry had given up trying to down the god-awful blood-spiked beer Will had foisted on him (the man had been a punk in the ‘80s when he was turned and never quite grew out of some tastes), and was instead staring longingly at another patron’s burger. Killian hadn’t had a chance to assess just how recently Henry had been turned, but that confirmed it was a very new thing; it took surprisingly little time to forget a taste for mortal delicacy.
He leaned over and whispered to Henry, “If you ask nice, Granny will make one extra rare for you.” Henry jumped again, clearly still getting used to his new senses, but perked up at the idea.
“So fresh, you can still hear it moo,” the old wolf commented from behind the counter. The hungry grin that accompanied it would probably be unsettling to most, but Killian had known her far too long to see anything but good humor (and more than a smidge of flirtation) in it.
“Ah, a quiet meal,” he quipped back. “Most of mine tend to be rather...talkative.” The group shared a chuckle; perhaps that joke was a bit dark, but when you could only go out at night, that tended to happen.
Unfortunately for Henry, he didn’t get a chance to try the meal before Will was dragging him out (something about videogames, apparently; that was one trend Killian had never much caught onto). Robin followed shortly, heading for for Regina’s, leaving Killian alone at the counter with Granny.
“You know that battle’s not gonna be the end of it, right?” she said as she placed another shot of bloodrum in front of him and poured one of her own.
“Aye, but it can’t hurt to try.”
“No, I suppose it can’t.” She held her glass up to him; he clinked his against it and they downed the shots together. But she continued after they swallowed. “You do know about the prophecy, though, right?”
He looked up in surprise. “The what?”
“I don’t know the details, but I’ve heard it’s the only way to settle things once and for all. If you really want to end this rivalry, you’re gonna have to go to the top.”
He wanted to ask more, but she wouldn’t go into further detail, instead going to serve a pixie at the other end of the bar. He racked his brain; he couldn’t recall ever hearing anything about a prophecy, and few had been around as long as he had. Hmm; perhaps he had a visit to make later.
But first: Granny had left the bottle of rum on the counter, and he needed a few more shots before he could truly unwind from what had been a tumultuous night.
Before he did that, however, he did dig out his phone to call Gold and appraise him of the situation. Honestly, it probably wouldn’t mean much to the man—given that neither he nor Cora were involved, it might not even be official—but still, he should know.
To Killian’s surprise, he took the news in stride. “Fair’s fair; if that’s what everyone agrees on, I’m fine with that, and I’m sure Cora will hold up her end of it, too.” Killian was less convinced of that but if Gold was, he wouldn’t argue. “Extend my best wishes to Mr. Locksley, will you?”
“Of course, sir.”
“Is there anything else?”
“Actually…” It was probably stupid, but Killian needed to know. “Sir, are you aware of a prophecy?”
The other end of the line was so silent, he feared they’d been disconnected, until Gold’s voice returned with a hard edge in it. “Where did you hear that?”
“Just a rumor,” Killian lied; it was easy to over phone. “I’ve only heard of its existence, but not what it’s about. Do you—”
Gold cut him off. “Whether or not a prophecy exists is of no concern of yours. Just make sure Locksley wins that fight.” And then the line truly went dead.
Killian stared at his phone in confusion for a moment; just what had that been? Gold didn’t just sound angry; he almost sounded scared.
Which meant that whatever was in that prophecy, it was important—and if Killian wanted to put an end to all this, and ensure he and Emma had a chance at a life together, he needed to find out what.
★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★
Emma had just gotten out of a (rather long) shower when her dad and the crew arrived back at their place. Not that their townhouse was any sort of official Coroza hangout; the Nolans were just the most hospitable—something to do with David growing up on a Midwestern farm—and always keen to invite people over.
Either the meeting hadn’t been that long, or she’d been bathing for a while—both were likely, because she’d taken her time in making sure Killian’s scent was washed off of her. It’d be noticeable, especially if they’d just been in his presence.
Right after she’d gotten out, before she’d even gotten dressed, she had gone to text him to ask how things went—until she realized she still didn’t have his phone number. Dammit. But the voices she could easily hear in the lower level of the house would tell her everything.
She was a little surprised to see that Jefferson had joined them; he was something of a loner, even though he’d been around for a couple hundred years and was reasonably close to Cora.
Closer still to Cora, though, was Zelena, who was sipping a glass of bloodwine off to the side of where the guys were gathered on the sofa in the living room. She always seemed to pop up out of nowhere; honestly, it would creep Emma out if she didn’t know that she was one of the oldest vampires in town.
“Emma! There you are.” Emma jumped at the frantic way Snow blurted the greeting, and had to rely on her superhuman reflexes to grab the wine glass that was shoved at her (honestly, if she’d been able to react at even a fraction of this speed when she was alive, maybe she’d have lived up to her last name). “It’s drinking time.”
“Did the meeting go that bad?” she asked, watching as her mom took a long drag from her own glass.
“Actually, it was rather refreshing,” Zelena said drily. “Historically, at least one person ends up dead in these sorts of things. And I really didn’t feel like washing blood from this blouse tonight.”
Snow just took another long, panicked drink. Zelena was never known for her tact (although Emma did have to agree that her green v-neck was gorgeous).
“So what did happen?” Emma had never been that great an actor, so hopefully her feigned indifference was convincing.
Zelena caught her up on the plan—a one-on-one fight rather than an all-out brawl. It was still more than Emma would have liked but certainly not as bad as it could have been.
“It was headed that way,” Zelena responded to her comment, “except for Jones apparently being the only one with any brain cells still alive in Aurum.”
“Jones?” she blurted, unable to hold back at mention of Killian. Shit.
But thankfully, they read it as confusion; being one of the youngest vampires in the coven had its perks. “He’s the one you were dancing with,” Snow murmured.
“Oh,” she said, pretending to be ignorant (and that she didn’t know what his kiss tasted like).
“It was his idea for single combat. Makes me wish we had a soldier on our side—or just, you know, anyone with any sort of battle strategy. Humbert here was ready to tear his head off at the suggestion, even though it was a good one.”
“Are they the ones fighting?” Emma had to ask; it was the one time she’d let her mom think she was showing concern for Graham.
“Humbert is, but he’s facing...oh, what’s his name—Robert? Robbie? Something like that.”
It took effort not to look too relieved, so she hid her reaction in her drink.
“I’m just glad it’s not David,” Snow said, having emptied her glass.
“Then why are you drinking so much?” Zelena sneered.
“Because this was my night to get drunk! Aurum can’t take that from me.” And without another word, Snow disappeared back to the kitchen; Emma was pretty sure she heard the liquor cabinet open, where she was pretty sure a bottle of sanguiria was hiding.
Which left a slightly awkward silence over Emma and Zelena while the boys continued to lecture Graham on fighting (what good would that even do at this point? How had he not made it a century and half without knowing these things?) She rolled her eyes at them. “At least this’ll be the end of it, right?”
“We’ll see,” Zelena answered and took another sip. “I don’t see how something dating back 400 years will be settled by two assholes in a parking lot, but they can certainly try.”
“This rivalry seriously goes back that far?” She’d been told vague stories of the bad blood between the covens, but they all started with cliches like “many moons ago” and “once upon a time.”
“Ugh, I swear—we need to make this part of new vampire orientation or something,” Zelena complained. “Cora and Gold used to be lovers; he’s the one who turned her.”
“Holy shit.” Emma had not seen that coming. She’d have believed it if one of them had killed the other’s family or something—and Killian’s story wasn’t far from her mind—but actually lovers? “They must have had the worst breakup ever, then.”
“Something like that,” Zelena confirmed. “Gold—or Rumplestiltskin, as he was known back then—” (which was a revelation all on its own—) “meddled with Cora’s family in a way that was unforgivable. He took one of her daughters.”
“Cora had daughters?” God, how many bomb revelations were going to be dropped on her tonight? (And was separating kids from their parents just an Aurum thing or what?)
“Two. And you’re talking to one of them.”
Emma’s dropped jaw had to suffice as a reply to that. Hopefully, her mom had saved her some sanguiria. “Wait—so he...did he...you…?”
“Did he turn me? No; I practically begged Mum to once I got of age. But Gold stole my sister and that caused the rift, among other things. So I really don’t see this little kerfuffle solving anything.”
There wasn’t much to say to that other than hum in agreement; no wonder things got so heated. Emma still thought it was silly, but having a frame of reference helped. She didn’t know if that made her predicament easier to deal with or harder, though.
“And it’s too bad, really,” Zelena continued. “I’d love to see my sister again, and then you could be with Killian.”
For the first time in 15 years, Emma choked on blood. “Um, what?”
“Darling, I’m 383 years old; you’re probably safe from anyone else here noticing, but I can still smell him all over you; he positively reeked earlier. And I hardly blame you. Frankly, you two might be our only hope.” Emma really wanted to ask what that meant, but was too busy mentally panicking and praying no one else heard this exchange. “Don’t worry; your secret’s safe with me,” Zelena promised, handing Emma her now-empty glass. “Just don’t be an idiot about it, alright?”
“All—alright,” Emma stammered.
“Good. Well, I’m off,” she said casually—and much louder; Emma hadn’t even realized they’d been whispering. “Good luck tomorrow, everyone,” she called as she headed for the door, but her eyes were locked with Emma’s before she made her exit.
Quickly, Emma finished her wine—just in time for Snow to refill it (with some claret; honestly, she didn’t care what it was as long as it had blood and alcohol. She would have settled for finding a drunk frat boy outside a party if that was what it took). That was...a lot to unpack in one night, and she had never been very good at that—side effect of being a foster kid.
She wondered how much of it Killian knew; he had to know at least some of it, right? And what had Zelena been talking about—how were they the “only hope”? (What was this, Star Wars?) She didn’t want to be any sort of savior; she just wanted to jump her vampire boyfriend’s bones without causing a gang war. And, you know, the happily ever after stuff her mom was always talking about.
The two of them wordlessly continued to share the bottle of booze and stare out the window as the sun’s early rays started to brighten the buildings across the street. At some point, Jefferson and Graham had left, which helped Emma relax but didn’t remove the tension.
Outside, the moon was starting its morning fade; she’d be counting the hours until it made its evening appearance—‘til she could see Killian again.
★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★
Killian only just made it into the library before the full sun was shining on the entrance. He’d have to steal an umbrella or something when he left, but with any luck, it would rain like it was supposed to this afternoon and he’d be fine.
He loved the library—the scent of ink on paper, the quiet hush of knowledge being shared, the occasional squeal of joy—but all was quiet and still at this early hour, especially since they weren’t technically open. (But he knew which door was usually unlocked, and if he didn’t show up on any security camera, then what was the harm?)
He would have loved to linger in the stacks, and might yet later, but he was on a mission, and instead made a beeline for the rare book collection and archives—the one place without windows, where a vampire could actually work in peace.
He made little noise as he pressed the heavy door open and stepped inside the musty room. It was pristine—not even a dust mote swirling in the lights.
“Unless you’ve somehow managed to make an everything bagel with blood, we’re not open,” the petite librarian called out from somewhere in the recesses of the space. Of course she heard him.
“I was never much of a baker, love,” he replied. “But how about some bloody earl grey?”
He’d only just moved his arm to the side, ensuring the safety of said tea, when a small but solid form was wrapped around him tightly. A few seconds later, it was slapping his chest.
“Killian Jones, you fils de pute! You didn’t tell me you were coming back!” Belle chastised, even though she was grinning.
“What, and ruin the surprise?”
She rolled her eyes, but chuckled. “Merde, but it’s good to see you,” she said, pressing up the few inches her heels didn’t cover to press a kiss to his cheek. “And you, too,” she added, but this time directed towards the tea. There was exactly one Starbucks in the city that catered specifically to vampires, just a couple blocks from here; hopefully, corporate never investigated the contents of the extra “red syrup” the undead staff kept stocked, though considering neither the location nor staff had changed in at least 15 years, they were likely in the clear.
“Why do I get the impression this is more than just a social call?”
She knew him too well; he supposed that was to be expected after 150 years. “Perhaps I just came here to help one of my best friends; had you considered that, eh? What are you up to today?”
“Digitizing, as always, and I think there’s an appointment later to see some old Broadway posters. And whatever it is that’s brought you here, obviously.”
“You wound me.”
She glared at him as she took a sip from her cup—surprisingly menacing for one so seemingly docile, but it was also hard to believe that the dainty woman before him was a 200-some-year-old creature of the night. (Though it certainly took that amount of practice to run around a library in platform heels the way she did.) “Just what are you up to, Captain?”
He took his own drag of tea as he studied the aging leather spines in a glass-locked cabinet on the closest shelf, noting that the two of them were both likely older than the tomes, and yet showed no such signs of wear and tear. “It’s not anything hugely important, just a bit of gossip I heard, but figured you would be the one to confirm or deny it.”
“And what’s that?”
“With this whole ageless coven war, have you ever heard of any sort of...prophecy?”
He turned his head to look at her; were it not for the way she licked the tea off her lips, he’d think she was a statue. “Where did you hear that?” she finally murmured.
“Granny.” He couldn’t lie, and Belle wouldn’t judge.
“Yeah, she’d pick up something like that,” Belle had to admit. “Sharp old wolf.”
“So it’s real?”
Belle nodded. “It is, but no one’s said anything about it in...gosh, at least a hundred years. It goes back ages, though; I believe to the start of all this.”
“Does it say anything about how to end it?”
She sighed. “Yeah, it does. But let me finish my tea first.”
He truly had come to see her—not just for information; they’d first crossed paths sometime during the 1860s in Australia and been fast friends ever since. Killian couldn’t even remember what Gold had sent him there for, but Belle had come back to New York with him on one of his trips and stayed in the city ever since. She was originally from France, but after being turned (and losing her family) during the Reign of Terror, she fled the continent for England and hopped on the first ship out of Europe—to a penal colony on the other side of the world. Thus her odd combination of French curses and Australian accent. (Though after long enough, most vampires developed hard-to-place accents on account of their nomadicity; his likely only identified him as British due to his recent time spent there. And it hardly mattered in New York.)
She caught him up on anything he’d missed in the last decade that Robin hadn’t already, but didn’t betray the one thing he’d been hoping she’d mention: whether or not she was currently with Gold. He kind of hated how well they’d hit it off when he introduced them, but in the intervening decades, he’d lost count of how many times they’d broken up, made up, married, divorced, or just been “on a break” (it wasn’t a stretch to say they were a real-life Ross and Rachel; her apartment even had a purple door). They were freshly divorced when he’d left, but that didn’t mean much.
While she was taking a last, long dreg of tea, he had to ask. “And how are things with Gold?”
Suddenly, the cup was flattened and thrown with some precision to the trash bin near the door.
“Excellent, I take it?”
“More like completely done. Forever.”
He’d heard that before, but wasn’t about to contradict her. “What now?”
“Believe it or not, that’s one thing you haven’t missed—we haven’t gotten back together since you left.”
That had to be a record. However, he sensed that wasn’t all. “But?”
“But he’s tried on numerous occasions,” she sighed. “I’ve had enough, though; the shady dealings, his weird hangup over Cora, acting like king of his own empire. I’m not just another one of his playthings for him to control—oh, sorry.”
It wasn’t unusual for Belle to forget who she was talking to while ranting; however, “I’m not going to refute any of that, you know.”
“I know, just—I know you don’t have a choice.”
“Few have one.”
“Well, someone might—which brings us to the prophecy.”
She started off for the back of the room, where the oldest books were kept; he had to jump to keep up with her (not like it was hard, though).
“Have you ever heard the legend of the Dark One?” she asked as she grabbed an ancient-looking set of keys and knelt in front of an even older-looking case.
“It sounds familiar,” he replied, though he couldn’t pinpoint anything solid about it—just a name, almost a fairy tale, that had popped up over the years.
She pulled from the case what looked like a journal in a very fragile state and quickly moved it to an exam table (or whatever it was called—he didn’t spend that much time back here). “According to all the tales I’ve heard, the Dark One is the most powerful dark sorcerer in the world. Not only are they immortal, they lay claim to their power by murdering their predecessor. The story goes back centuries, and continues today.” As she told this, she carefully flipped through the pages of the book, which was written in an old language Killian only vaguely recognized.
“So you mean to tell me the Dark One is alive and kicking, even now?”
“Well, alive is a loose term. Also, he’s here in the city—and he’s your boss.” She stopped on a page near the center, and despite the aged parchment, the drawing on it bore more than a passing resemblance to Gold. “Not only has he held the title the longest, he was also the first vampire to lay claim to it. His existence is...I hate to say unprecedented, given how long he’s been around, but it’s definitely unique.”
How had he been unaware of this? True, there had always been something sinister about Gold that Killian hadn’t been able to put a finger on, but he just assumed it was because the man was an utter conniving bastard and had centuries to perfect being so. Not that he was also in possession of the darkest magic known to man. Few had any extra sort of magic—Cora was the only other one he knew of, and she wasn’t shy about it. Gold, apparently, was, though.
“How on earth did you find that out?”
“Well, he told me.”
Yeah, something like that would probably come up in pillow talk over the course of 150 years. “And he, what, gave you his notebook of devious schemes?” Killian asked, nodding at the book.
Belle snorted. “Not quite. I tracked this down myself about a hundred years ago.”
“So he doesn’t know about it?”
“Nope,” she confirmed, rather satisfied. “At least, he doesn’t know I have it. It was after our first divorce. See, he’s also spent plenty of time trying to hold onto that power and I, in my ire, decided to see if there was a way for him to lose it. Turns out, there is.”
She carefully flipped another few pages to one with just a few lines of text, in an older English, but easy enough for Killian to read:
Only one without creator live Can destroy the dark and survive. At truest love’s closing hour Will they eliminate the power
“And what exactly does that mean?” he wondered; he’d never encountered prophecies in the real world, but Harry Potter certainly seemed to have nailed their ambiguity.
“In simple terms, that only an orphan—someone without living parents—can kill him and end the line of Dark Ones. He did some awful things to orphanages years ago.” Belle shivered, and it had nothing to do with the cool temperature. “But ‘creator’ is a bit nebulous, especially with our kind,” she went on. “For us, it could also mean someone without a living sire. He’s also been known to target those.”
“Aye,” and it was Killian’s turn to shudder; he certainly had that kind of blood on his hands, although he’d usually been given a reason when taking out a hit on Gold’s orders. It was generally hard for anyone to get away from their sire—you couldn’t exactly kill someone when they had the ability to simply tell you to stop. The Nolans were an exception (one he still wanted to talk to Regina about); in fact, the only one he really knew of was… “Emma,” he breathed.
“Emma? Is that the girl whose scent is all over you?” Belle teased.
“Yeah, it is,” he told her, a bit sheepishly, but he had no time to stammer. “She doesn’t have a sire; she killed hers right after he turned her.”
“Impressive. I already approve of her.” Not that he needed Belle’s approval, but other than Robin, she was the closest thing he had to family—and that felt good.
“Even if she’s with Corona?”
“You know I don’t bloody care. Hell, I might like her more, then.”
That made him chuckle, but he needed to know more about the subject at hand. “What’s the rest of it mean, then?”
“Honestly, anything. ‘Closing hour’ is up for even more interpretation—could mean marriage, could mean death.”
“But we’re already dead.”
“I know. So I’ve no real clue. But I can spend some time on it, if you think she’s part of this.”
“It’s worth a shot; whatever it takes to end this feud.” Which gave him another, almost terrifying thought: “Does Cora know this?”
“That I don’t know. But I got the distinct impression it was part of why he turned her.”
“So she couldn’t kill him?”
“I think so. She was after power, whatever she could get; I think that’s why they got together in the first place. She was still mortal, then, and something of a witch, which...you’re already aware of. Turning her was always part of the plan, I gathered, but I think he moved up the timeline on it when he found out about the prophecy.”
“If she did find out, I can see why that might cause a legendary rift.” It would explain a lot of things, really.
“Precisely. And given my own dealings with the man, it’s easy to see why that went south.”
“At least you were already immortal,” he said knowingly.
“True,” she agreed, patting his hand.
“What about you? Where’s your sire nowadays?”
“No clue. I saw her my last time in Paris but that was 50 years ago. And trust me—if I could kill him, I would have by now.”
They shared a laugh, but Killian was more laughing at the idea that she’d be willing to off him; despite her rage, he knew she still loved him, deep down, even if she didn’t want to be in a relationship anymore.
She put the book away as methodically as she’d taken it out, locked the case, and glanced at the clock. “Well, I’d love to hear more about this Emma, but I suppose it’ll have to wait for another day; my appointment is in 20 minutes and I haven’t pulled anything yet. But maybe we can get some tea again in a couple days?”
“Sounds perfect, my dear—and thank you for your assistance.”
“My pleasure; hope it helps.”
“Anything does at this point.” He gave her a parting peck on the cheek and began to walk away, hoping it was still early enough he could stick to the shadows of the skyscrapers just fine, but then she called out again.
“Oh, and tell Will to call me, would you?”
He stopped in his tracks and turned to face her; surely she was joking. “Will? That wanker? Why?”
She shrugged. “I guess that’s one of the things I didn’t tell you from the last 15 years.”

Okay next question which DA plotlines did you find underrated and which did you hate? because there were many unnecessary (or just... not done well) storylines and then some that should've been fleshed out more 🥺
Aw thanks for the ask, new babe!! Ily 👉👈
I watched last summer and have only just begun my rewatch so feel free if I leave anything important out. But...
BATES STORYLINE IN S3 WAS SO GOOD. I love him sm omg like... my dude you are so fucking awesome i would watch anything for you... and then later with the guy that r*ped Anna?? And he died and the suspects were Bates and Anna?? Holy shit I was on the edge of my seat. I had no idea whether he did it or not and frankly I didn’t want to know LOL.
Also the Pamuk storyline really took a while but I thought it was good. When they finally told Robert 🥺🥺 and he was more insulted by the thought of not being trusted bc it meant he didn’t love Mary enough than insulted by the scandal... king shit. He is a dad ok
Fuck Bunting and her fucking affair with Tom ok I hate her and she was so annoying like just leave them alone girl he doesn’t like you and he never will smh 🙄
Lavinia deserved better!!! I wanted Mary/Matthew endgame but also I thought Lavinia was just everything, she has my whole heart and I wish she hadn’t died for their love to finally bloom. I would’ve been down for her to get a nice ring from a nice man. The whole Matthew wanting to honor her memory thing was a nice thought and she deserved that respect but also just marry Mary already bc we’re all waiting. And on that thought the Matthew coming back from the war disabled plot line? Where they thought they were going to have to find a new heir? Oof, just oof, oof, oof. That hurt me so much.
And the last I can remember is the Cora’s fetus getting killed by O’Brien plot line which really fucked me up. I hate O’Brien and I can’t imagine the crushing guilt she must have felt but still. I never felt an ounce of remorse for her because she was awful. All my love went to Cora though 🥺🥺
I can’t remember any more but Charles Blake was as I said in my ask to you so much more worthy of Mary than Henry robot bc he’s so dull and uninteresting wtf!! So glad you agree Mary and Charles should’ve been farmer spouses and run a farm bc they would be adorable. I want to see Mary in overalls and Charles in a sunhat bc Charles is her trophy wife obviously
#did i leave out anything important#oof maybe the baxter plot lines bc i love her#baaaaaxter#and tom going to america should never have happened#he should’ve stayed#i love him too much to let him go#also edith.... had so many love interests that never panned out#it kinda sucked#downton abbey#ask#reply#much-brighter-ink#mutual#<3

My Take OUAT Villains Part 1
Regina - An intimidating personality with softer side and capability of empathy and selflessness . She was a fine mom before Henry started to see that she was a mean boss of the town . Then she became more strict with him BUT when fairytale stuff came to play , she became a bad parent and she almost became her mom when her magic returned before she realised that she has done too much evil . He was not a good son either . As EQ , she was a feared villain with max body count ONSCREEN not OFFSCREEN . I assume that there may be only few who outdid her . She has a life full of crap and is a pawn of others all the time before she came back to being a hero . She is a better hero than Emma and as good as Snowing . She is only villain who used to be a hero .Regina as a hero is even more dangerous adversary than EQ . Unlike other villains , she and Rumple did true to resist temptation for evil until Rumple himself made things worse . As a villain , she is delusional . She is the most scary of them all but there can be villains as bad as her or WORSE . She has crossed many lines BUT if there are some lines she won’t cross . I doubt she would like to have a child with David to piss Snow .
Rumple - A complicated guy whose favorite passtime is creating villains out of his students . He was a coward BUT he was also a father . He is incredibly selfish and makes big plans when he can achieve his goal by smaller plans as well , a trait also seen in his students . He was a teacher of Regina for a longer time and made sure of the fact that she became a monster . WEmmaonce said about WRumple that he may be razing villages so , it is safe to say WRumple did stuff like that in the past since I doubt he would be razing villages in lockup for 30 years . If WRumple did that so , it means real Rumple also did it . I doubt Rumple raped people BUT he tricked them . I think he stopped mass murder when Belle was around but continued with being a trickster and mastermind . He was relatively saner than Regina sometimes since he used brains more than she did as a villain . As a hero Regina was the saner one . I think that Charmings were too nice to him in S2 and too mean to Regina in S2 . In S4 , they were really nasty to him BUT they were not heroes nor villains that season . He became likeable in S6B AND S7 . He did have lesser pain than Regina since spinsters were actually nice guardians to him and he was not always that much troubled and tortured
Cora- Deliciously evil woman who cares for her daughter BUT her morals warped with Rumple's shadiness is what is really what turned Regina evil . She made her daughter's life way worse than hers and Rumple's . She scared the hell out of me BUT I was sad when she died . UW Cora was more likeable . I remember her as a redeemed villain than a hero. She was more cunning than Regina and as cunning than Rumple . If she lived longer than Rumple , she would have been worse . Also S3 shows her daughter Regina as her own antihesis . She is literally heartless and sees love as weakness . Voldemort anyone ?
Hook - He was fine in S2 and WHook was likeable in S7 BUT from S3-7 , org Hook was all about Emma and CS . He lived longer than Regina , Cora and Zelena so , he should be as bad or worse BUT they whitewashed him SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH that even Snow's half heart had more darkness than that in S3 and in S6 . He himself talked about destroying villages in his song and it shows that he is as bad as the Mills ladies . He likely was into rape and he had many one night stands that even Regina would be aghast . Also his revenge is not justified or reasonable and it makes Cora look justified in hating Eva and Regina reasonable for hating Snow. It was he who separated Rumple and Milah and then in S5-6 he acted that Rumple was worse . Regina had really good reason to loathe Rumple yet it never looked like that she was in mood to dance on his grave since she believed that life is precious . He was also a homewrecker . I think that he is worse than Rumple and can be as bad as Cora . His DO self showed us his true evilness . At least Regina would be trying to restrain herself from all that DOness . He did not take time to become a full fledged villain as compared to Regina , Cora and Rumple . It took him seconds to do that . He was definitely done dirty in later seasons . I still love HOOK’ s past self more .
Greg and Tamara - WHY ? They are foreigners . They do not make sense to me . Other villains have done way more evil than they can dream of though they were almost about to commit mass murder BUT they are delusional .
Pan - IDK how many he killed, how much evil he did BUT apparently , he must have done a lot of that . Even Hook finds him demonaic and treacherous (although he did the same for Rumple ) . He was more twisted than all the others mentioned before . He utterly lacks any decency . He seems to be vain , self seeking , power hungry , immortality loving , uncaring , callous person . If he succeeded , even Cora and Hook would look tame and humane .He is a narcissist . Its like Disney Mother Gothel , Disney Ursula and our Rumple together as one person . He was not only an evil power seeking overlord like Rumple and Cora but also he was sick and awful . He was both terrifying and terrible . It was the best culmination of fairytale evil with real life evil .
Zelena - She makes me like Pan sometimes . At least Pan , Cora , Regina , Rumple and Hook did not start the system of brands . According to her villainy needs to be branded like footwear and clothes . She is awfully competitive. In fandom she aroused a need of debating on who is more powerful . Every time she boasts about being more powerful , she needs to be punched on her face . OMG Regina literally did that . She branded herself as wicked and branded her sister as evil . She does not terrify me BUT she is perhaps the most devious one of all . For someone who has undergone pain , she sounds like a spoilt brat who whines like all the time . Everytime Regina is tired of her life problems , it looks like that she is in pain . In S2 Regina did a lot of whinning BUT she did not sound like this sick brat . Regina did seem like someone who has undergone a lot of crap . I think that Zelena as a spoilt princess of Oz who was pissed about her true heritage and ditched her adoptive family and killed them would make more sense and would do justice to her S3-5A personality . In 5B-7 , her softer side was apparently a bit forced and so was her new relationship with Regina but it was more true to her backstory and her S3-5A self BUT it was like having Regina in earlier seasons back sometimes . Her WWW wardrobe should beas good as EQ’s . She should also have more hairstyles as WWW . I think that Zelena is also arrogant and narcissistic as compared to anyone else . She is incredibly self obsessed . Regina was a mass murderer and rapist . Rumple was self serving , selfish and power hungry magic addict . Hook was a s*x addict and a mass murderer . Cora was a power loving mass murderer and a heartless . Pan was relatively less self obsessed . Quite many seem to come from a sadder place BUT she looks life she came from a posh life . Even young Snow and young Eva were not that bratty even though they are actual brats . Her rape of Robin to have a child with him to piss Regina shows how twisted she is . She also feels like an awkward addition since she has never said the iconic villainous line , “LOVE IS WEAKNESS .” She tries to outdo REGINA so , she must have tried to be more evil and she must have killed even more since she is like Regina killed 1 guy , I would kill 10 .
Ingrid - A short term villain but she was basically another Regina . She was also xenophobic towards muggles due to her bad experiences but later , she came to her senses . She was an unintentional succcessful attempt at making another EQ and Cora . I wish she stayed longer . We also got a dark Elsa . Her subtelty was awesome . She was basically my fav beside Rumple , Regina and Cora . I still wish if Regina was one of the people she wanted as a sister along with Emma since I do not want Emma to be left behind either . She is way better than Zelena . I think she should be nicer to memory of Helga at least .
Maleficent - We heard things about her more than we actually saw her do stuff . Since Regina has more some traits of Org Maleficent than her . Kristen did a fine job with her and did make her scary in the way Mitchel made Ingrid scary . BUT I never saw her interrupting gatherings . Regina did that one . I never saw her plotting and being cruel . I never got the mistress of Evil . I never saw the woman she really was when it came to Briar Rose. What was her foul temper like ? She was redeemed quickly . I think I was better off with one redeemed Maleficent and now there were 2 of them . I wanted her evil at larger scale . Maleficent did show some wickedness in S4 and it was awesome BUT I think I preferred REGINA , CORA , HOOK , RUMPLE , INGRID and even ZELENA level villainy . Maleficent , these are the experts . Maleficent was more a victim than a villain . Most of others were both . She may be a fine chracter BUT she was a poor villain .
Ursula - Don’t ask . She hardly came in before she went away .
Cruella- This is a good villain . Only born EVIL person besides Pan before 6*19 came up . She is better than Zelena and Maleficent combined . I would love to see Cruella at her worst . I think this character demanded to be explored more . She does not have standards at all . She tries her best to be the evilest and can succeed . No wonder Issac had to stop her . We can only imagine that her villainy would be the worst of worst .
Issac - He is soo sick and awful . Can’t say anything more . He is rebirth of Greg and Tamara who are just meh .
Dark Swan - What is this monstrosity ? I would prefer Zelena and Maleficent over this . Apparently , I think “Black Swan” would be better than what this name is . And also , we all hoped that Emma would dabble into some Cora , Rumple , Regina , Past HOOK and Ingrid level EVIL and have a maniacal laugh . We may have had EQ back . It would be good to see Snowing’s faces when Emma becomes New EQ . We wanted mental issues , rage problems , broken heart , betrayal problems , trust issues , past issues driving her mad . Trying to convince WickedGoldenHookedQueen to join her in her delicious rampage with only Zelena joining her . Zelena the brat and Black Swan a psycho teaming up . BUT instead we got an unhealthily obsessed woman who got Robin Hood killed unintentionally . SHE MADE DARK HOOK . She caused mayhem in Camelot and Storybrooke just because of Hook ? If it was really her , she would have let Hook die instead of making him DO .And after she stops being Dark Swan ,she drags her family to UW ? What is this ? High level character assasination . OH WAIT , Emma’s potential for darkness , her capacity to be Evil lies with Lily . Why they made her Darknessless . It makes sense that she is not that evil . I think this should be resolved . In my headcannon , she got the potential for evil back when she was sent to WR since In WR Cruella never left so , WR Maleficent never lost Lily so , WR Emma still has darkness . If they continuede , we could have had Evil Emma back . For now , Dark Swan is terrible , not terrifying . I find her name Emma ironical now since she is not whole .

Just a Kiss Part 7 (NSFW)
Summary: Chris is in a rocky marriage to Nicole. He finds himself unable to resist MC the new girl in town who turns out to be his new secretary
Paring: ChrisxMC
Chris holds MC as she straddles his lap he kisses her up and down her neck as she sighs with pleasure. He pulls her closer and tightens his arms around her. He cups her face with both hands and kisses her deeply as she moans his name
“Chris.. “
His hand goes under her skirt as his lips moved down her chest “Mmm you’re so ready for me”
A knock on the door startles them apart. MC quickly jumps off his lap and fixes her clothes. Chris fixes his clothes then clears his throat “Come in”
His coworker pops her head in “Chris we got a meeting in the next 15 minutes”
“Thanks I’ll be there”
She nods and steps out shutting the door. MC turns to Chris “I told you we didn’t have time for that you need to learn how to control yourself mister”
Chris chuckles “Me? You’re the one who came in here looking sexy and you expect me not to react?” MC rolls her eyes as he stands “Besides…” He wraps his arms around her waist pulling her against his chest “I didn’t hear any complaints from you”
MC sighs as he kisses her neck “Chris…you have a meeting to get to”
“In 15 minutes not right now and just to make sure we’re not interrupted” He walks over and locks the door “There now” He smirks and takes her in his arms “Where were we?” He kisses her deeply
****
Chris walks into the meeting finding everyone waiting for him.
“Chris you’re late”
“I’m sorry I was…distracted”
“That’s quite alright take seat don’t let it happen again”
“Yes sir” He sits down
Chris walks out the meeting and spots MC waiting for him
“Hi Chris I brought you some coffee”
He grins “Thanks I need this”
“How was it?”
“It was good”
“We’re they mad you were late?”
“A little but nothing I couldn’t handle”
“See we can’t be doing that at work”
Chris walks closer to her “Did you enjoy it?”
“Well yeah but…”
“Then that’s all that matters” He kisses her softly
MC smiles as they walk together “Are you still coming over to meet my friends?”
“Oh yes I’ll be there tonight”
“Great I’ll see you then
****
Chris drives back home and heads upstairs to change. Once he dresses he heads downstairs and sees Nicole coming in
“Hey Chris I uh rented some movies you wanna watch some?”
“Maybe some other time a friend invited me over for dinner”
“Oh ok” She fidgets “Umm…listen I’m really sorry about the whole me getting drunk thing”
“Forget about it Nicole we all do something stupid”
“Yeah we’ll see you”
Chris walks around her and heads out the door. He drives down to MC’s apartment and knocks on the door
“Just a second!”
Chris chuckles as he hears giggling and squealing from inside. The door opens and his jaw drops at the sight of MC in a midnight blue strapless dress.
She smiles “Hey Chris”
“Hey you look absolutely beautiful”
“Thanks my friends insisted that I put this on”
“You have some amazing friends” He kisses her on the cheek
Kaitlyn pokes her head out “Well don’t just stand there come on in”
MC rolls her eyes as Chris chuckles and steps inside. Becca walks up to him “Hi I’m Becca and let me just say now I know why MC is so interested in you”
MC blushes as Chris laughs and shakes her hand “Oh really? Good to know”
“Yeah” Kaitlyn throws her arms around MC “I’m Kaitlyn MC talks about you so much”
“Oh God stop!” Chris laughs as MC shoves Kaitlyn off her “This is that last time I allow you two to be in the same room as him”
Kaitlyn smirks “Oh you don’t mean that you love us too much”
Abbie rolls her eyes as she walks up to Chris “I’m Abbie and I’m not as annoying as these too”
“Nice to meet you Abbie I see you have a child on the way”
“Not one but two!”
Kaitlyn squeals “Omg it is a girls?!”
“It’s a girl and a boy”
Becca swings her arm around her “Congrats Abbie you and Tyler must be so happy”
Abbie smirks “Well I’m happy Tyler’s a nervous wreck”
MC places a hand on her shoulder “He’ll be fine it’s your first child he’ll be more relaxed when the next baby comes”
“Lets wait until these two come first”
MC giggles “Well food is ready come on let’s eat”
They all grab their plates and sit down eating while chatting and laughing. Chris smiles he can really see how much the three of them care for MC.
As they finish dinner MC washes the dishes and Chris turns to them nodding his head towards the door.
“Well MC were gonna go”
“You are?”
“Yeah were all really tired thanks for the dinner see you tomorrow” They head out the door as MC rolls her eyes
“They just didn’t want to stay and help me clean up”
“Such a shame they had to leave”
“Yeah but they really liked you”
“I enjoyed getting to know them too” He walks up behind her and wraps his arms around her waist pulling her against his chest “Now do you really wanna do the dishes?”
MC felt her heart race and she smiled “What did you have in mind?”
“Oh I think you know”
MC quickly wiped her hands and turned around throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply. Chris pulls her closer and mumbles “Where’s the bedroom?”
“This way” MC takes his hand and guides him to the bedroom. Chris kicks the door shut and takes her in arms kissing her. MC trails kisses down his neck as she whispers “My place remember? Let me take care of you tonight”
Chris smiles “Yes ma'am”
MC trails kisses down his neck and grips him. Chris groans as she unbuckles his pants and strokes him. She gets down on her knees and takes him in her mouth.
Chris groans “Oh fuck MC”
Chris feels himself getting closer to his release enjoying the feeling of MC warm mouth on his shaft. He grips her hair
“Come in my mouth Chris”
Chris finds his release and MC grins and stands “Enjoyed that?”
“Oh hell yeah” He wraps around her neck and pulls her in for a kiss tasting himself.
MC wraps her arms around him as she kisses him. She spins him around and pushes him on the bed. She stands in between his legs. She slowly begins to strip as Chris watches he felt his pants getting tighter as she removes her clothes. He reaches out with his hands looking at her for permission she nods and his hand roam up and down her sides as he pulls her closer “You’re so beautiful”
MC grins “Let me help you with that” She pulls off his shirt as he kicks his pants and underwear off. She pushes him back as she climbs on top of him. She kisses him deeply as his hands run up her back.
She lowers herself onto him and she gasps at the feeling of him. She moved slowly up and down then goes faster as she kisses him muffling her cries of pleasure as they get louder. Chris tighten his arms around her as he pulled her as closer as possible.
“Chris!”
“MC oh fuck that’s it”
He felt her walls tighten around him “Mmmm Chris I’m gonna come”
“I’m there too come with me” MC screams his name as they plummet over the edge together. They hold each other for a moment both breathing heavily before MC pulls her herself out of him. Chris pulls her against his chest “That was so hot” He kisses the top of her head.
His phone begins to buzz and he reaches for it seeing text messages from Nicole
Hey is this dinner over yet?
It’s getting late shouldn’t you be coming back?
Gonna spend the night and come back tomorrow. I’m too tired to drive back
Well ok if you say so
MC looks up at him “Who is that?”
“Uh no one don’t worry about it” He wraps her in his arms “Mind if I spend the night?”
“Not all”
He kisses her softly and they drift off to sleep
****
MC awakens to a knocking on her door. She grumbles and slips out of Chris’s arms “Ugh who’s bothering me so early in the morning?” She sleepily walks over to the door “If that’s Kaitlyn wanting details I’m slamming the door in her face” She opens the door and smiles “Gabby”
“Hi MC how are you?”
She steps aside to let her in “I didn’t know you were in town”
“Well I have a few days off and decided to come and visit” She grins “So surprise”
“This was a nice surprise if only you had come at a different time”
Gabby raises an eyebrow then smirks “Oh judging by your demeanor and lack of clothes I’d say you had a visitor”
MC blushes “Well…”
Gabby laughs “A few weeks here and you’re already meeting guys glad you putting yourself out there after you got rid of that scumbag”
“Can’t spend my whole life living in fear”
“That’s the spirit so who’s the lucky guy?”
“Well he’s a really nice guy and…”
Chris comes out of the bedroom “Hey MC how do you…?” He stops short when he sees Gabby who’s face is in shock
“Hi Chris look who stopped by”

I Want This Shit Forever (RoD, Colt x MC)
A/N: Is this a continuation of the story where Ellie gets pregnant? The tattoo story? I have no idea but I do know I was around a lot of kids this weekend so here are some of drabbles about Ellie and Colt’s family. Title from “Forever” (Drake/Eminem/Lil Wayne/Kanye West).
This might be my last RoDAW entry (we will see how my life works out today) and I just wanted to give a HUGE shout-out and thank you to the #RoDAW team, @choicesarehard @brightpinkpeppercorn @client-327 @poeticscolt @queenkaneko. The amount of WORK and EFFORT and LOVE that you guys put into this is nothing short of astonishing and I am in awe and so appreciative of you all. Thank you so much for an AMAZING week!!!
Pairing: Colt x MC, ROD
Length: ~4250 words
Rating: R (Swearing, suggestiveness, discussion of illegal activities.)
Summary: Drabbles of Ellie and Colt and baby, thrown together with no semblance of plot, but hopefully a semblance of love
Ellie sighed, deep in her bones, and it still didn’t wake up the slumbering idiot behind her.
She could feel every inch of him pressed against her back, breath hot on the back of her neck, arm hotter where it awkwardly snaked around her. She remembered when this kind of heat inflamed her, when it made her weak and pliant and putty in his hands, to be molded boneless and sex-drunk by his fingers and his lips and him, every part of him that worshiped her with single-minded devotion.
But this? She was just hot. And huge. And miserable. This was the worst.
She sighed again, louder, the rumble in her throat a warning. Still he didn’t stir.
She rolled her eyes and moved his arm, throwing it back with a bit for force than necessary before she struggled out of bed and down the hall. Everything hurt and she was tired, so tired, and emotional and fat and hot and this was the worst. She grabbed a glass of water, as cold as she could get the tap to run, holding it to her cheek as if it would do something, anything about the inferno inside her.
“El-”
She rolled her eyes. She just wanted to be miserable in peace.
“Ellie, you ok?”
Colt shuffled into the kitchen behind her, barely awake. She didn’t even think his eyes were open, hands tracing the walls, feeling his way through their small apartment.
She didn’t even feel bad. He didn’t have their child growing inside of him. She hadn’t slept in weeks.
He blinked when she didn’t answer, blurry eyes finally finding hers. “Ellie? Are you ok?”
“No.” The speed with which tears erupted in her eyes was embarrassing. She couldn’t even be appropriately annoyed without breaking down. “No, I am not ok.”
He stepped closer, looking wary. “What’s wrong?” He tried to cover up his yawn but it didn’t work, only served to infuriate her more.
“Everything! I can’t sleep, I’m too hot and I’m so tired and you are like a freaking furnace in there.”
He reached out to touch her but she swatted his hands away, instead taking giant gulps of water as if it would cool her temper along with her body.
“Do you want me to sleep on the couch?” He edged by her to open the freezer, holding out the ice cube tray to her.
She took a deep breath, balling her hands into fists. Ice. Of course. It was probably easy to be so smart when you were operating on consecutive days of uninterrupted sleep.
“No, I don’t want you to sleep on the couch!” She pushed the ice tray away.
“What do you want?” His voice was measured, weary. He wasn’t even engaging, too tired to battle with her.
Her shoulders dropped. “I don’t know. I just feel so uncomfortable, all the time.” She hated how her voice wavered but, if there was one person she could be weak in front of, it was the one person who wholeheartedly believed in her strength.
His eyes softened as he looked her over and he cracked the tray, pulling a couple of cubes out. Careful hands caressed the nape of her neck as he lifted her hair up and slowly traced the ice over her skin.
She couldn’t stop the sigh that filtered through her lips as the bite of cold took some of the edge off, dulling the burn in her body, becoming more of a smoldering flame than a bonfire licking at her body.
“Better?”
She could only nod, murmuring assent as he drew swirling designs on her neck, pulling at her shirt to get at her shoulders. As it melted, the water dripped down her spine, the rivulets trailing down a meandering path that took her breath away.
It felt so good.
She moaned, would have been embarrassed by the throaty noise, but noticed how Colt’s eyes darkened as he watched her.
At his look, at the sensations, ice water sparking her overheated skin, she was starting to get warm again, but a different kind of warmth. This kind started from her core and emanated though her nerves so that every part of her was buzzing. This was the good kind of warmth, the kind that couldn’t be sated by water and ice, but instead by the man in front of her, whose eyes were the flames that would burn her in the best of ways.
“Ellie…” His voice was a warning, hands sliding the ice down her arms. The goosebumps that followed were definitely not because of the cold.
She bit her lip and smiled. “You know, since we are both awake now, I can think of some amazing uses for this ice.”
And after, after the flames in her body had been stoked and teased and had burned her to the point of absolute delicious exhaustion, after, for the first time in weeks, Ellie slept.
~~~~~
Colt was shrugging on his shirt when Ellie pulled back the curtain.
“Everything ok?”
“Yeah.” Ellie slid her phone back in her purse. “Riya said she was going to try to put Cora down for a nap now.”
“Good. I’m gonna make a work call, if that’s ok?”
Ellie nodded, sliding into the seat and taking off her shirt. “I’ve got it.”
She settled into the seat as Jim, the tattoo artist, set up his equipment, shuffling into a comfortable position while he opened the sterile needle in front of her. She and Colt had talked about getting a tattoo to commemorate their growing family for ages, a long time. He had favored some truly horrific designs but Ellie had wanted a heart with Cora’s name in it, held firm. Finally, they compromised. At Ellie’s demand, they would each get a heart, their daughter’s name in delicate script on a curling ribbon in the center. Colt would only agree if he could choose the location, left shoulder blade, and if the heart was black, nixing the deep red Ellie favored.
Ellie smiled to herself. Relationships were all about compromise. Or, as far as she and Colt were concerned, compromise meant heated discussions and pleading until he remembered how irresistible she was and folded.
Jim grabbed the stencil and placed it against her back, grabbing a pen. “I like it. It’s almost exactly like your husband’s.”
She murmured noncommittally and then opened her eyes. “What do you mean almost?”
“Well, you won’t have the exact same tattoo, he asked me to add-”
“WHAT?!?!” Thankfully, he had just started and managed to pull the pen away seconds before Ellie sat up to glare at him. “He changed it?!?!”
He leaned back in his chair. “Well, yeah. He wanted-”
“I’m gonna kill him.” She grabbed her shirt, barely pausing to make sure that it covered her when she threw it on, and stormed into the waiting room. “COLT KANEKO!”
He was on the phone, a muttered conversation in the corner, away from the bored eyes of the receptionist. His head snapped to her as she stormed in, all fire and fury.
His eyes widened as she approached, muttering “Just get it done” before hanging up to face her head-on.
She couldn’t keep the snarl from her voice. “What is your tattoo of?”
“A heart?”
“You liar. The tattoo artist said it was different. You promised we would match!” She was barely able to stop herself from reaching out and throttling him. “What, is your family not important enough, tough guy?!?”
He blinked at her and sighed. Slowly he peeled the shirt off his back and turned. “Take the bandage off. See.”
Huffing, she ripped the tape off, smiling at his wince. The smile dropped off her face as she moved the bandage aside and could see what was underneath.
“Oh, Colt.”
It was still red, skin tender where the needle had etched the careful design. And he was right, it was a heart, black and carefully shaded against his skin. However, unlike hers, there were two ribbons; the bottom had Cora’s name, written in the same simple script as her tattoo. However, the top ribbon...
“You got my name on it.”
He turned to her and shrugged. “Yeah. My two favorite girls.” He reached up to caress her cheek. “The two most important people in my life.”
Damn, she was weak for this man. She couldn’t help but reach up to pull his lips to hers, pouring her appreciation and love into every kiss, every touch.
“Excuse me?”
She held onto him tighter, leaning into his space until their bodies were one, even the sunlight filtering in through the window unable to get through where their bodies were melded together, lips and hips together casting one shadow on the wall.
A throat cleared behind her. She kissed harder. Then a cough. Another one, louder, a warning. “Did you want that tattoo or not?”
She turned to look at Jim. “Do you think it’s too late to make an addition to it?”
~~~~~
Colt froze as he walked into the apartment, his heart stopping. He thought that the “OMG help” text Ellie sent had been because Cora was giving her a hard time. She had always been wild, inheriting both the spirit of her mother and drive of her father, but turning three had unleashed such a new level of dysfunction on their household that Colt was unsure they would recover from it.
He was expecting his daughter to be bouncing off the walls when he got home. Instead, it was silent and still, empty, and his home had been ransacked.
His breath caught in his throat as he surveyed the damage. Trash was everywhere, papers and belongings thrown haphazardly around by someone looking for something. Paint was dripping off the kitchen table, a puddle of blue spreading on the hardwood, and every single chair was overturned.
The whisper came involuntarily. “Ellie?” His stomach was falling, turning. Where was his family?
The worry, the terror, that flashed through him quickly, mind moving quickly onto a plan: search the house, then call the crew. The rage came next, a quick blinding fire in his blood; anger was the emotion he knew best, the port in any storm that he could call on. If they dared touch his family....he was going to ruin them.
Whatever they were looking for, he doubted they found it. Most anything worth stealing was at the shop, tucked away in a safe in his office. He kept a small cushion of cash under a floorboard beneath their bed but not enough to be worth this level of destruction.
He wandered to the kitchen and it was no better in here, half-eaten lunch on the counter, flour coating the ground. The dishwasher was open, bubbles foaming and spilling onto the floor. He swallowed, hard, jaw working overtime.
“Ellie?”
No answer. He moved through the apartment, checking the bathroom. Empty but, like the rest of the house, it was a disaster. The mirror was definitely not broken when he left this morning and the shower curtain had been intact, not in pieces, submerged in grimy water in the tub.
A little louder. “Ellie?!?”
Still no answer.
His hands started shaking and he balled them into fists. He knew exactly who did this, who wanted retribution for the latest job he pulled. He had been trying to keep Ellie and Cora away from his work but, apparently, it had come calling. If they laid a hand on his family, if they so much as thought about laying a hand on his family, he would kill them, destroy them, relish ending them as a message to anyone else who dare threaten the people he loved.
He swung Cora’s door open; apparently, they had been looking in here as well, dresser drawers open and askew, clothing everywhere. They had even pulled the books from her bookshelf, bedtime stories he knew by heart, open and crinkled on the carpet, wild things gnashing their terrible teeth as they looked up at him.
He was going to kill them.
He slowly opened his bedroom door and peered in, letting out the breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. It was a disaster in here too, clothing covering the floor like it was carpet, but, in the middle of their bed, Ellie and Cora were curled up, safe and sound and fast asleep. He could see where Cora had tossed and turned by the blue on the sheets, only a fraction of the paint that covered her body and clothes. What wasn’t blue was white, flour sticking to her hair like it had been shocked grey, streaks of it on her face. Ellie wasn’t any better, paint and flour and marker drawings covering her skin like amateur tattoos.
He kicked off his shoes and slid into bed behind her, dropping a soft kiss on her shoulder. The sleepy smile that greeted him when she turned brought tears to his eyes.
“You have something on your face.”
“It’s a unicorn,” Ellie whispered. “Cora drew it.”
He clutched her closer. “Of course.”
“Colt?” She was already fading, eyes drooping as she spoke, slowly. “Next sick day, you’re staying home with her.”
He smiled and nodded, watching Ellie fall back asleep before he also joined in on nap time.
~~~~~
“I am not my father.”
Ellie’s eyes burned into him, nostrils flaring. “You sure are acting like it! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me!”
Colt could barely think over the sound of his teeth grinding, jaw clenching as he worked to keep down words better left unsaid. “This is why I didn’t tell you, I knew you would react like this.”
“Oh,” she scoffed. “The problem is my reaction, not that you’re hiding things from me?”
He had to take a deep breath; he could feel the anger rising, muscles tensing, ready to fight, but in front of him was the one person he swore he would never hurt.
She continued, “This is just like something Kaneko would have done, you know.”
“Stop it!” He had to bite his tongue, hard, teeth digging into the tender flesh to have something else to focus on, somewhere else he could channel his rage. “I am not-”
“I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?” She swiped an angry hand over her face, glaring daggers at him.
He took a deep breath, hands clenching into fists, feeling his nails dig deep crescents into his palms, additional pieces of pain to focus on, to keep the curses and invectives in.
This is exactly why he didn’t tell Ellie about the East LA job. Or the Rolling Hills job. Or the Manhattan Beach job. Or any of the jobs the crew had pulled when he was trying to convince her and everyone else that he was nothing but a meager auto shop owner struggling to make it work in Gramercy Park.
“Mommy?”
Cora stumbled out of her room, eyes hazy, still clutching Billy, her stuffed cat companion that never left her side.
Colt let the breath out through his nose. And there was the reason he couldn’t be a meager auto shop owner, not anymore. The two reasons, Cora and Ellie, the two people he would move heaven and earth for, lift priceless sports cars for, so they would never want for anything. Hell, he would kill for them; he didn’t really think moving tons of metal was that bad in comparison.
Cora’s face lit up when she saw him and she made to run to him, into his arms, when Ellie’s quick hands reach out and plucked her up, pulling her away.
“But Mommy…” Cora’s mouth fashioned into a pout. “Daddy said we could get ice cream after nap!”
“NO!” Both Colt and Cora stared at Ellie as her shout echoed around the apartment. “You’re not going anywhere with him.”
Colt froze, staring at her, at the collision of his past and his present taking his breath away.
“But Mommy…”
Colt couldn’t breathe, blinking slowly at the pair; he was no stranger to heartbreak but this was the first time he could feel his heart physically shatter, pieces falling through his rib cage to land at this feet. His voice shook. “I have to go.”
“But Daddy…”
“Sorry, Cora, we can go later.” He didn’t even look at Ellie, keeping his eyes trained on his daughter as he backed away, hand grasping for the doorknob behind him. He had to go.
He could barely see the hallway, the stairs, the road in front of him as he drove, away, away, needing space, needing distance from his present and his past and his everything. As he sat on the cliff, head in his hands, he knew that he would never be able to outrun it all; you couldn’t get distance from yourself.
He heard the tires on the gravel, the slam of the door, the footsteps approaching, and let out a deep breath. He didn’t need to look up to know who it was, just kept his eyes on the horizon, water fading into sky in front of him. The cliff always soothed him but comfort was wanting today, even with the lapping of the waves below his feet. And, of course, it was where she knew to look for him.
“Hi.”
He didn’t answer, didn’t stir, just kept looking out. Were those seagulls?
“Can I sit?”
He shrugged, didn’t even turn as she sank to the ground next to him.
“Colt, I’m sorry.” She put a gentle hand on his arm; when he didn’t turn, she removed it to fold it into her lap. “I didn’t mean what I said.”
“You did.” His voice came out hollow.
“I didn’t.” She shifted next to him. “I am still pissed as hell but I shouldn’t have said those things. I’m so sorry.”
He shrugged again. If these were seagulls, they were fucking idiots because one just dive-bombed in to the waves like it had a death wish.
“Where’s Cora?”
“I dropped her off with my dad. They were going to hit the playground.”
He tried to temper down the flash of annoyance at the detective spending time with his daughter when he had been planning on getting her ice cream; he knew he failed by the bite in his voice. “Don’t dare tell me I can’t see her.”
“Colt, that’s not what I meant! I was just pissed”
He just stared at the stupid seagulls with no sense of self-preservation, being buffeted by the unyielding waves beneath them.
“Colt, would you just look at me!?!”
“My mom said that to me, those exact damn words.” He turned his head to look at her; she was calmer but he could see the flush of her cheeks, the familiar blaze in her eyes that he loved every time it was directed at someone other than him.
“Said what?”
“You’re not going anywhere with him.” He turned back to the waves. “About my dad.”
“Colt, I’m sorry…” She rested her hand on his arm again but, this time, she didn’t back away. “I didn’t know.”
“I know.” he shut his eyes, watching the scene in his head, one of many that would play out in a constant loop of madness when he had too much time to think. “I was 12 and I was staying with Pop more and more. His job was flexible, obviously, so he would make sure I caught the bus to school. I started staying some weekends too, hang out at the garage. We were supposed to go away for the weekend, drive up the PCH to San Fran.”
“Colt…”
He looked down at his hands. “Until my mom stormed in. Screaming, cursing. She was pissed. Apparently he was also going to San Fran to meet with a few contacts about a job, a big one. She was furious, wouldn’t let me go with him, said she wouldn’t let me out of her sight.”
Her hand slid down the jacket and slid into his palm; he twined their fingers together with a squeeze. Was he the seagull, buffeted by a past he couldn’t escape until he fell, headfirst into the water?
“After that, I barely saw him. I tried to get more involved, in the crew, in the garage, but…she moved me out East when I was 16. And you know the rest of the story.”
“Colt, I would never keep Cora from you. Ever, ever, ever.”
“Even if it was better for her?” He dropped his head. “Ellie, what if I am my dad?”
She grabbed his cheeks in both hands, turning his head so she could stare into his eyes, face solemn. “You’re not. Colt, you’re not your dad, you’re not.”
He couldn’t lift his eyes, weight of the world and his choices dragging him down.
“You’re not.” Ellie sighed. “Would you leave?”
“WHAT?!?” His eyes snapped up. “What are you-?”
“Would you leave me? Would you leave Cora?”
“Never.” He shook his head, incredulous. “Never, Ellie. There is nothing on earth that would keep me from you two, I would die befor-”
“I know.” She pulled him close, arms around his neck so she could speak in his ear. “That’s how I know you’re not your dad.”
He pulled back to look at her, her eyes shining at him. He couldn’t let her down.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
She raised an eyebrow. “No apology for committing multiple felonies and moving millions of dollars of merchandise with no warning?”
“Uhhh….Multiple?”
He grimaced when she nodded. “Do you think I didn’t talk to Ximena and get the full story?”
“I’m not going to apologize for my job.”
She let her arms fall from his neck, leaning away from him. “And what if you went to jail? Wouldn’t that keep you away from me? From Cora?”
“I’m careful, El, I swear.” It was always in the back of his mind, it was, but it was his legacy, what he was best at.
She bit her lip, considering; Colt watched the gleam in her eyes, the gears turning as she thought. His jaw dropped. “Oh my God.”
“What?”
“You want in.” He smirked. “I thought you were gonna ask me not to run the job. But that’s not it, is it?” He grinned triumphantly as he watched the blush spread across her cheeks. “You want in, don’t you?”
“I mean…I don’t want to drive, but…” Ellie glanced away, towards the horizon. “X said that you guys were still debating the escape route and I thought…”
Colt threw his arms around her, pulling her to the ground so he could pepper her face in kisses. “I fucking love you, you know that?” Or was he the waves, rough and turbulent against the shore, but always returning to the calm of the deep?
She giggled under the onslaught of his lips, squirming under him. “I have been known to have a good plan, once in a while.”
“Uh huh…” He had moved to her neck, gentle tongue tracing nonsense patterns.
“And it is us against the world, right?”
He pulled back to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “Us against the world.”
“And I’m also not your mom.”
Colt froze to study her. “What do you mean?”
“I’m not leaving you either. Ever, ever, ever.”
He smiled, slowly, before dropping one last kiss on her lips and standing. He brushed off his jacket before he extended his hand, pulling Ellie to stand in front of him. “Us against the world.”
~~~~~
Colt stretched out in the chair and dug his feet in the sand, sighing. This was pretty great. He wasn’t even a beach person, one too many times with sand in inappropriate places tended to do that to someone, but he’d be damned if he was going to deprive Cora of something as simple as a beach day while Ellie was out with Riya. He knew she would come back soon with freshly painted toenails and chatter about Riya and Darius’s latest shenanigans.
He took a swig of his beer and watched Cora building a sand castle with some new friends, a complicated structure complete with turrets and a barn for the unicorns, of course.
“Oh my God, you almost look like a normal suburban dad.” He looked up, shading his eyes with one hand so he could smirk at Ellie as she walked over to him.
When she went in for a kiss, he pulled, sending her toppling over into his lap. He responded to her pout with a devilish grin. “I am completely respectable, thank you very much.”
“Ha. You don’t have a respectable bone in your body.”
“Mmmm…..” He cupped his hands around Ellie’s thighs and rolled his hips. “Would you like me to put a respectable bone in your-owww.”
She whacked him again, palm to his chest. “Some of the shit you say is decidedly not sexy.”
“It’s a good thing you’re sexy enough for the both of us.” He grinned, winding his fingers through her hair to pull her lips to his. She tasted like the sangria she and Riya loved and he deepened the kiss to chase every single drop.
“Ewwww….are you kissing?” He didn’t even hear the footsteps in the sand, so engrossed in his wife. Ellie turned at the voice.
“Not anymore,” he muttered at his cockblock of a daughter. “Hi, Cora. ”
The moment was quickly forgotten as Cora laid eyes on Ellie. “Mommy! I made a sand castle. Wanna see?”
“Of course, baby. One second.”
As Cora sprinted away, Ellie bent down, lips so close to Colt’s ear that the hairs on his arms stood up. “You can show me all your respectable parts later tonight.”
He could only stare, eyebrows raised, as she sauntered away, looking over her shoulder to blow him a mocking kiss.
He was so looking forward to fucking the respectability out of her.

The ride from the airport to the palace was awfully quiet, Eve was still mad at Drake about what he said back in the jet so she didn’t feel like talking much. Maxwell, who sat between them, could feel the tension that came with the awkward silence. He wondered what happened while he was asleep on the plane, he tried to break the silence with a few of his jokes only to be ignored with more silence.
The SUV starts to pull over as it reaches the main entrance of the palace. Oh thank God Maxwell thought to himself, the silence was killing him. Eve steps out the SUV followed by Maxwell and then Drake. Drake quickly walks away leaving the two at the main entrance.
“Welcome to the Cordonian Royal Palace!” Maxwell beamed excitedly. “This is where we’re going to stay most of the time for the next five months. Come on I’m excited to show you your room!” He says pulling Eve by the hand and taking her into the palace before she could even take in all of her surroundings.
****
Eve enters her room and could not help but be amazed by how big it was, it was maybe four times the size of her room back in New York. The walls were painted a soft ecru colour and paired with gold trimmings. A beautiful giant antique chandelier hung in the middle of the room with a picture of a baby cherubs eating an apple on the ceiling.
“So I assume you have something to where for tonight.” Maxwell asks.
“Huh. Sorry. What?” She shakes her head and turns her attention back to Maxwell.
“You know for the masquerade ball it’s the start of the social season.”
“I’ve packs a few dresses for the occasion but I don't think I have a mask to go with the outfit.”
“That's alright, I’m sure they’ll have some you can borrow in the palace boutique.”
Maxwell's phone buzzes, he reaches for his pocket to see who it could be. “Oh look a text message from Bertrand, I gotta go he wants to see me. You’ll be fine without me till tonight right? He asks cocking an eyebrow.
“Sure…”
“Okay cool, the ball starts at 6 so don’t be late.” He informs her and leaves in a huff.
Eve opens her suitcase to get her dress ready when she realises she doesn’t know where the boutique was. She steps outside of her room to look for Maxwell but he’s already out of sight. She reaches in her pocket for her phone to call him but her battery is dead. Damn it! she thinks. “Oh well, guess I’ll have to find my own way to the boutique.” She murmurs.
A noble woman passes by and Eve tries to ask for some directions. “Excuse me miss, would you mind telling me where I can find the boutique?” She asks politely. The woman takes one look at her and grimaces before walking away, ignoring her question. Okay not much friendly people out here. She thought. lets see if I were a boutique in a big ass palace where would I be? Not paying attention to where she is going she accidentally bumps into someone.
“Oops! Sorry princess, didn’t see you there.” Leo apologises, she turns to face him and when she does he is take aback and eyes go wide open like he’s seeing a ghost from the past. “Eve?”
Eve cocks an eyebrow. “I’m sorry, have we met before?”
***
Three years ago - Paris, France
“Nice to meet you Eve, I’m Leo.” He smiled shaking her hand and she smiled back. “So what brings you this part of town?”
“Well I was actually going to take some photos by the Seine and check out the flea market when I got mobbed on the way.” She answers, her eyes go wide open when she realises she’s supposed to meet Ruby at the Louvre by now. She reaches for her purse but remembered her phone dropped in the river.
“Eve is something wrong?” Leo asked when he noticed she looked a bit worried.
“Um... So this is might sound a little awkward but would you mind if I borrowed your phone for a minute? I dropped mine in the river and I’m supposed to meet a friend at the Louvre right now, she’s probably worried that I haven’t shown up.”
Leo chuckles “I have a better idea, why don’t I take you there instead, it’s only a few minutes away if we take my motorcycle.”
Eve looks at him then at the motorcycle, she’s never ridden a motorcycle before. She bit her lower lip wondering if this was a good idea.
“I promise you it’s perfectly safe, do you trust me?” Leo grinned offering an extra helmet,
“Screw it.” She murmured under her breath and with a smile took the helmet. what could go wrong she thought.
***
“I’m sorry, have we met before?”
Leo doesn’t answer at first his mouth slightly open a look of confusion written all over his face.
“Eve? Is that you?” A familiar voice calls from across the hall. “Liam?” Eve smiles when she sees that it’s him. Liam walks up to her and gives her a long welcoming hug.
“I’ve missed you” He says
Eve closes her eyes taking in the scent of his sandalwood cologne. “I’ve missed you too.” She replies. They pull back a few seconds later. “Sorry I would have called but my phone died.”
“That’s alright as long as you’ve safely arrive, I trust Maxwell had everything in order? Was the plane ride okay?” He asks placing his hand on her shoulders.
“It was fine Liam, more than fine, thank you.”
“That’s good to hear. Oh , where are my manners?” He grins letting go of her. “Eve I'd like to introduce my older brother, Leo.” Liam says motioning Leo at the back.
“Oh you’re Liam's older brother!” Eve beamed, giving him a quick hug taking Leo off guard. She pulls away a few seconds later smiling. “Liam has told me so much about you.”
“It’s nice to meet you too Eve” Leo replies with a rueful smile. Of all the people in the world his brother could have fallen for it had to be her. He looked between the two rubbing the back of his neck. “Ah so, I need to go I’m sure you two have a lot of catching up to do.” He says and quickly turned on his heels walking the opposite direction.
Eve cocks an eyebrow as she watches Leo walk away. That was quick? She turns her attention back to Liam. “So... what's next?”
Liam heaves a sigh. “I wish I could stay and take you on a tour of the palace but i have a meeting to attend.” He took his hand in hers. “I’ll make it up to you tonight, I promise.”
“Then I shall be looking forward for tonight.” She grins. “By the way any idea where the boutique is? I kinda need to borrow a mask for the masquerade ball and I have no idea where I’m going.”
Liam chuckles. “It’s just around the corner.” He takes her right hand and kiss her knuckles giving a mischievous look. “Save me a dance tonight?”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” She replies with a playful wink. “Until tonight.”

Eve stood in front of the mirror making some final adjustments to her dress. She chose to wear a beautiful strapless scarlet red mermaid dress that clung to every curve of her body. She walked towards her dresser where her phone charging to check for any messages she might have missed. 10 miss call and 5 messages from Ruby. Oh crap I forgot to call and let her know I safely arrive Cordonia. Let’s see it’s should be almost noon there so here goes. A few dial tones later..
“Hey Red…”
“Omg! Where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you all day! Do you know how worried I was?” Ruby bellowed.
“Yeah sorry, my phone died and I kinda lost track of time.”
“Yeah yeah yeah. At least you called. So how’s Cordonia treating you?”
“Hard to say I’ve only been here a couple hours, there was this really snobby woman I met and oh I did manage to run into Liam and his brother Leo—.”
Ruby spat out her drink when she heard the name. Could it be? Nah maybe it’s just a coincidence there are plenty of European guys out there with the name Leo last name Rys, could there? But just to be sure.
“Hello Red, you still there?”
“Oh yeah sure still here.. Hey Eve you wouldn’t mind sending a photo of Liam’s brother would you?”
“No, why would I have his photo and why do you want one?”
“Oh you know just.. to for some background check…” Ruby stutters
“Right…” Eve replies with a skeptical tone. “I don’t know, trying searching the Royal Archives online or something I’m sure he’s in it. Listen I love to continue this conversation but I’ve got an event I need to get you. Text you later on the details?”
“You’d better…”
They both hang up while Eve continued to get herself ready, Ruby quickly clicks on her googles app on her phone typing the Cordonian royal archives on the search engine. A few clicks later, her eyes go wide open when she finds out it Liam’s brother really is the Leo.
Ruby runs to her room opening her closet and taking out a box which was well hidden inside a secret hole in the wall. She opened the box and takes out a cellphone, which used to belong to Eve. She turns the phone on and looks through Eve’s phone book wondering if Leo still uses the same number. Couldn’t hurt to try.
Leo sat on the ottoman in his room staring up at the ceiling trying to wrap his head around what he just saw. He feels his phone buzzing in his pocket and takes it out, his eye go wide open when he sees the number that was calling. Could it be? Does she remember who I am?
“Hello?”
“You son of a bitch—”
Leo heaves a sigh. “Ruby it’s nice to hear from you again.”
“Listen you! I don’t know what shit you’ve got planned but if you—.”
“If this is about Eve, believe me I was as shocked as you are. And you know I would never do anything to hurt her intentionally ”
“Look I’m not mad at you for what happened in the past, that’s all in the past. But do you think it’s a good idea to be around her? What if she remembers what if she gets hurt again? Can’t you just leave?”
“Believe me I would if I could but I promised my brother I’d be here the entire social season to help him out, if I knew she was the one he was vying for I would have never made that promise and left before this whole thing began.” He shook his head. “Karma really is a little bitch.”
Ruby pinched the bridge of her nose trying to gather her thoughts and calm down. “Loook Leo, I’m sorry if I got all mad and shouted at you earlier on but you know how much I love Eve. I just don’t want her to relive all the pain she went through before a second time.”
“I understand and I promise, I’ll try my best to keep my distance.”
Ruby heaves a sigh. “I’m trusting you Leo.”
“I know…”

0My OUAT Rewatch -- S2E10 -- The Cricket Game
Link to Rewatch Review and Ranking archive
Hey, remember when Hook was actually a character with a purpose on the show and not just a useless lamp?
Well, okay, he was Cora’s butt monkey but at least he had a JOB.
It’s funny, cause there were a lot of things I did NOT remember about this episode at all. For example:
Cora turning some poor schlub into a fish after he saw her and Hook disembarking from the pirate ship, that Cora made vanish.
(Although to be fair -- this guy wasn’t the brightest bulb on the tree. “Herr, derr, hey strange people I’ve never seen before even though no one comes here -- wanna see the sights of Storybrooke?” Dude . . . . come on . . . . )
Rumple lurking around in a hoodie at Regina’s non-execution
Honestly, I didn’t remember Imp!Rumple at all in this episode
Frankly, aside from the cock-blocked picnic date and Rumple playing with Pongo, I was surprised how much of this episode I didn’t remember AT ALL!
But what I’m trying to say is . . . . I REALLY LIKED this episode! No, really . . . . not just cause of the above scenes which are AWESOME.
No, there’s also some AMAZING Swan Queen in this one, including being nice, arguing, AND a physical fight, there’s Imp!Rumple being a sexy little shit, Snowing is great and not boring (STILL haven’t pinpointed when exactly Snowing started to suck just yet), it’s just . . . . a good episode!
Which is baffling since fucking HACK David Goodman is one of the writers!
(Which honestly really starts to confirm my theory that anytime Goodman is paired with another writer that isn’t utter SHIT, any of the stupid that he grinds out gets booted from the episode in favor of the non-hack writer’s stuff.)
But let’s talk about that Rumbelle scene . . . . . . cause there is all kinds of amazing there, from the “I’m gonna fuck your brains out right here on this counter” look on Belle’s face at the beginning, to Rumple’s “Didn’t we just do that an hour ago before you went to get lunch” look he returns to her, to Belle’s “Oh JFC, what do THEY want?” look when the Charming clan enters the shop, to Rumple’s “You know, I do have an alibi -- Belle and I were banging for HOURS last night and she can confirm that but I’m gonna fuck with you cause I can and it’s fun for me” sass that Rumple gives them, to Belle’s “OMG, you are adorable, I am gonna fuck you SO HARD tonight” look on Belle’s face as she watches Rumple pet Pongo . . . . I mean . . . . . . just SO MUCH THERE!
David Goodman did NOT write that scene. He was in the bathroom wanking over the Hook scene he was writing while Robert Hull was working on the shop scene. There is NO WAY Goodman had anything to do with anything about that scene. Not even a little bit. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Goodman wrote VERY LITTLE of what actually aired. Because this episode is just NOT his style at all.
But no, back to Rumbelle . . . . . were they invited to the little soiree at Granny’s? My gut says no, but maybe they WERE invited and decided their evening would be better spent . . . . . you know . . . . . doing other things.
Speaking of doing other things . . .
You know, I WOULD KILL for a scene like this with Rumbelle. But this was still funny. Making tacos . . . . .
BTW Cora is THE WORST and Hook is just as bad, schlepping along and letting her murder and kidnap people and turn people into fish and not even batting an eye.
See, you know, I actually didn’t MIND Hook at this point. I mean -- I didn’t LIKE him -- but he was . . . . useful. And served a purpose. This was his season to shine. Anything beyond that was just . . . . .
Points tally:
40 points to start
5 points for quality Swan Queen
25 bonus points for lots of reasons. But mainly Rumbelle. :)
I’m not even gonna deduct David Goodman points from this one because I’m not convinced he had much to do with this episode.
Total points: 70

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 5x19 Sisters
Omg yes!! Favourite episode of the season by far and one of my favourite episodes in general. I am not emotionally ready!! I wanted this for so long! For Zelena to meet Cora and for Zelena, Cora and Regina to be together and for Zelena and Regina to reconcile! I wasn’t even expecting reconciliation on Cora’s part but by God, I love it! It’s all I ever wanted and more! So excited to rewatch now.
Listen Hades, I like Wicked Hell and all but please don’t give Zelena an ultimatum like that, where it’s her sister or him.
God, I love the Zelena and Regina dynamic! One of my favourites in this show.
I remember I read a fic where Zelena and Regina met when they were kids and became friends. Then this episode came a long and it gave me so much Deja Vu. The writer must have been psychic, coz it was so similar!
I always love Cora’s theme.
Cora has a wand?!
When Henry Sr. said Regina didn’t have any other family with magic, Cora looked like she knew immediately that he was wrong. So, either Zelena displayed magic as a baby in the short time Cora was with her or Cora’s been watching her. Considering Cora knew exactly where to look for her, it may suggest she has been watching her.
I don’t think Belle can here you, Rumple, dude. She’s kinda trapped busy being mentally cooked in a fiery room.
Why are the guards dressed like the Programmers in Spy Kids 3?
Captain of Hearts is back, baby!
Cora watching Zelena like a freaking creep!
Zelena is Jean Grey, confirmed!
What a freaking bastard! I hate Zelena’s dad so much! He’s an evil child abuser and by the looks of it, he’s physically abused her before and probably will again. How could Cora send her back to that monster?! Not that she’s much better herself.
I still think either Zelena’s father killed Zelena’s adoptive mother in a fit of rage when Zelena was very young, or Cora did out of jealousy after watching them.
Well, at least Cora stopped him from beating Zelena, at least this time. The way her face dropped when she saw him shouting though.
At least Cora tells Zelena that her father’s wrong for making her feel badly for who she is. But is she just manipulating? It’s so hard to tell with her, and that’s one of the things I love about her!
David and James meeting for the first time! Omg, I just want them to get along!!!!
David said he was glad to finally see his twin! What could have been!!
Come on, James. She’s your niece! You could be a great uncle to her!
It’s kinda weird when you think about it but, because he and David are identical twins, does that mean Emma and Neal have 50 percent of the same DNA as him?
My girl Zelena could do complicated magic as a kid without any instruction! Powerful bby!
Apparently Zelena is supposed to be 12 here and Regina 10, so they’re 2 years apart!
Zelena was such a pure soul as a kid. She deserved so much better in life!
Aww! They met as bubbies!
Robin was just about to up and leave the baby with Emma and James.
I really love James and Cruella and their dynamic. I wanna see more of them together! More of them in general!
Ahgffgvhnff!!!! Zelena and Cora meeting!! All I ever wanted!!
Awww! To think, Zelena was probably Regina’s only childhood friend. And Cora took that memory away from them D,:
After all these years, Zelena can finally talk about the thing that hurt her most deeply with her mother!
That’s the thing though. Cora didn’t just give her away. She abandoned her in the woods to die!
Omg they’re hugging! Aggtfhutdd! I’m gonna cry! Staaap!!
I do think Cora is genuine with what she’s saying. You can see the guilt on her face as Regina sneaks around.
The intensity!! Freaking love it!
Young Zelena’s: “I promise, I’ll be good!” omg flashbacks to the Stable Boy! This is heartbreaking! Regina and Zelena are trying so desperately to hold onto each other and screaming for each other! I can’t!!
Young Regina: “Don’t worry, Zelena. No matter what she does, we’re sisters, and nothing can change that! I will find you! I promise!” Ugh! My heart! Staaap!
Cora: “My Zelena.” Agggggh!!! My eyes!! The tears!! Help!
Omg they’re holding hands! Staaaaap!!
James! That’s your own niece! God, I forgot he attacked her like that!
David is right. Listen to him James! You’re brothers!
Cruella: “Jimmy! Jimmy!” omg, I love them! She just wanted them to just leave and head to safety.
James!! Oh, my freaking God, no!! I hate this. I just wanted them to reconcile. Honestly out of everyone who got thrown into the river of souls, this one hurt me the most. I just love what could have been with these twins! I need to read fics of them reconciling or growing up together. I am in pain! David is in pain. That’s still his bro, y’all.
I wanted so much more of James. I freaking love him & just wanted he and David to be the best bros!!
Cora’s like, “Well, sh*t, I’m going to hell.”
Cora: “Just promise me you’ll hold onto each other.” And they do! By s7 they’re freaking besties for life! And it’s the most beautiful relationship development.
Cora (tearing up): “We never even got to say hello.” My heart!!!!
No!
Yes, she probably deserves to go to hell, but I love her okay! (Only joking, no one deserves to go to hell. That concept is so messed up & mentally torments both children and adults alike!! But the origins are interesting.)
Oh, it’s okay! She’s okay, guys!
Look at her daughters holding hands and watching!
Poor Henry, lol. Stuck with Cora forever.
Zelena: “I’ve waited my whole life to have a mother and now she’s gone.” Regina: “Oh, it’s okay. It’s okay.” They remember their time as kids together! So sweet!
Zelena and Regina are hugging!!!! My life is complete!!!!
Gold: “Zelena, meet my father, this 14-year-old boy.”
Peter Pan, you little sh*t.
Well, this episode absolutely killed me!! I loved it so freaking much!!
