Can you all believe that this is the last chapter of book 1????!?!? One out of 4 done! Anyways- let's get into this short chapter:

OMG. I would have been so pissed if I was transmigrated somewhere and had to start as an infant with my entire adult brain. RIP those circumstances for Airplane (p 264)

Honestly though, I am so here for the argument between Shang Qinghua/Airplane & Shen Qingqiu/Shen Yuan. Fight it out! The fan/not fan and the author who has no idea what's happening LOL

okay but I stand with Shang Qinghua/Airplane -> Shen Yuan really does know a lot of the lore for someone who supposedly hates this book (p265)

Oh god airplane doesn't even know that shen qingqiu here was poisoned (p267)

(okay Re: not knowing about the poisoning- correction he does, I dont know why he was confused about the mushroom side quest though. If anyone has clarity about this comment pls!)

okay but what's this demon- it's kind of scary clever (p269)

I swear if that slither creature snatches those mushrooms before shen qingqiu has a chance to snag them I will be so pissed on his behalf (p282)

OMG. Shen qingqiu just made mortal enemies with this fish snake man (p 287)

At this point I don't know if he is trying to gaslight himself. But no matter what, Shen Qingqiu is really convincing people he's a little unwell about losing Luo Binghe. He mentally tells himself he's fine but man is his behaviour wild. (p 289)

OOp. Airplane calling Shen Yuan out about his feelings regarding Luo Binghe 👀 (p 290) Which Shen Qingqiu completely fails to respond to.

That's it for book 1!!!!!

I am NOT ready for the next turn of events. That foreshadowing at the end with this mushroom plot! These mushrooms better survive or poor Shen Qingqiu is fucked.

Bill Cipher was in my weird dream last night so I documented it at 3 AM through these sketches!

So, I was in a "carnival" but I was also part of an organization tasked with a very important rescue mission. But I didn't wanna be there and felt guilty for some reason

Then we were in a capsule thing and normal people thought we were part of the carnival. So no one suspected anything.

We had a switch with the ability to reset time back to when our capsule had first arrived to the carnival. We needed to rescue the "timeline" here because an entity was going to destroy the world here through the carnival somehow. For some reason the carnival had Poppy Playtime themed rides IDFK why.

Suddenly my head turned towards a dark hole leading into a tunnel attraction. And something ripped the fabric of reality.

It was far away from me but in full view. It looked childish but things felt scary once the rip appeared.

I am not even joking, the entity that came out of the rip was BILL CIPHER. I knew I was obsessed with GF but I never thought something this random would happen?? It was kinda exciting!! :D

Too bad becase he was so fucking scary in the dream I couldn't even get excited! He moved so fast and was silent the whole time.

I suddenly ran to the switch inside the capsule and activated it by holding it for 3 seconds, idk how I knew to do that.

When I went in, guard guy (GG) was plsying games. I asked what was going on and he took off his headphones to say "The entity came before us, hold the switch so we can restart the mission" then went back to gaming. I held the switch, it all went white, and...

It reset. We were all alive. Nobody was aware. When I tried to say it, they did not care. GG told me to "call him for resets instead of running back to the capsule everytime" EVERYTIME?? That was going to repeat???

The same thing happened more than I could count. We tried to detect the anomaly causing the entity but in the end Bill showed up and I had to call GG for a reset, each time. My teammates died a lot but I didn't. Each reset seemed to change my teammates. All of them except for me and GG. Then I finally figured it out.

Going near the tunnel is what really triggers his appearance.

I tried to tell them but they knew something I didn't, I was untrustable.

They went in. I couldn't scream as THEY died too.

I called GG for a reset. But it didn't happen... Again and again and again. He was not answering. WHY???

He fell asleep. He didn't hear my calls through his headphones. He was too busy on his slacking off that he tired himself out.

Then I heard my own mom's voice call me. Very mad and low.

Before I knew it, I got thrown so hard that all my bones broke and reattached in less than 2 seconds.

Bill said "You're weird!" very happily, I took the chance to recover and run for the switch.

(Image) "I know how weird you are!"

I ran in, Bill laughed and made no attempt to stop me. I couldn't look back as the door closed behind me and the red lights turned back on.

I started holding the switch, also tried talking to GG but he was unresponsive.

3..2..1.. it all went white.

Then I woke up. Idk what that was but I wanna go back. What happened to GG? Why was Bill Cipher there too?? Why the hell was the carnival Huggy Wuggy themed??? Idfk. It was AWESOME!!!

I think by now all the guys have posted about it and ngl that was brutal for so many reasons! I didn’t even know what Louis had to go through and now with this it’s so :( and it’s okay! This week absolutely curb stomped me. But it's over. It’s fine. I was really overwhelmed and had a couple REALLY long and not so great days. Very drained. Slept a lot Friday into Saturday so I’m hoping this means I’ll be on the mend. I didn’t get to take a break for myself. but I DID read the book even when I had a 100 other things to do. It was good, but I liked some of the others in the series more. It was a little lackluster for me. Still sweet and I enjoyed it but the others deserve more hype than this one.

I'm doing okay about Liam for the most part but I see some sad tiktoks. I sort of disagree, but I do see where OP is coming from. So as someone who has an entire section on my masterlist dedicated to "insecure jikookers" here is why I use that term, and probably will continue to do so and how I use it.

Just looking at that section of my masterlist (and I understand that the name of that might feel offense to some, being grouped with tkkrs, but it's not meant to be), it will give a good example of what I mean honestly...

As someone who has been a blogger open to anons for a few years now, I have seen EVERYTHING. Lol and when I say there are insecure jikookers, that's EXACTLY what I mean. I don't mean people using critical thinking and questioning things like "wait, but how would that.... Insert whatever here" I mean the constant back and forth depending on the type of content they are currently watching. And it's incredibly frustrating to have to go in circles over and over again with someone because they don't want to have an actual conversation. They want me to tell them what to think in a way that doesn't leave them with extra questions or reasonable doubt.

I made three posts a while ago explicitly talking about insecurity and I still stand by them, you can read those here if you wanted...

This is one where I mentioned similarly to OP that a lot of times insecure is not the correct word to be using and they aren't insecure shippers at all, but trolls or just baby army who don't understand how content drops work yet

There is a huge difference in chronic insecurity and making that someone else's problem (and when they come to my blog, they are trying to make it my problem) and wanting to engage in a thought provoking discussion where perhaps you walk away from it agreeing to disagree. And when I call someone an insecure jikooker, it's often because they are displaying patterns of it, usually goes something like this:

"Jikook are the cutest couple ever!!! Look at how soft and touching and caring they are"

"omg, how could Jikook be a couple though if JK tells Tae that he loves him? They must all be friends right?"

"wahhhh they almost kissed!! Such boyfriends!"

"wtf?! How can they be dating if they rough house like that??! It's not okay"

And they come to me every single time and it's simply the constant ship jumping and they just want to announce themselves or it's constant "convince me to come back to the ship." It drives me up the wall, I have to be completely honest.

And that's just one kind of example. Honestly, check the links above for better ones. Please.

And let me disclaimer this that a lot of the times, I can usually tell repeat anons from the way they write. And I know not everyone person writing in to me is chronically insecure and might just be confused by certain things. I'm not shitting on those people. At all. I just get very annoyed by discourse that is constantly repeated over and over every few months that can't stem from anything other than antis or insecurities in your own opinions. Which again, is different than just questioning things, reevaluating your opinions or even just changing your mind.

I would NEVER criticize someone for having reasonable doubt. I would actually actively encourage it and I think that if every shipper of an RPS ship made sure to keep a modicum of reasonable doubt in their mind, they would be a lot happier and healthier in the way they engage in fandom spaces. Shipping is supposed to be fun, not something that would ruin your life if you end up wrong, which is an incredibly real possibility. You aren't shipping your best friend with their crush... You are shipping essentially strangers. It's important to remember that you don't actually know them. And when you say that you love and support them, be prepared to mean it even if they aren't dating the boy you think are 🤷‍♀️

I absolutely see where you are coming from, I see your disclaimer paragraph about maybe where it came from, which I've basically expanded upon with all my wordy words. I disagree that it seems cultish, but I do agree and see where it has become much more widely used in jikooker spaces in a wider type of way.... Not sure if I fully agree with you that it's being used as a way to shut down reasonable doubt or critical conversation, but I'm willing to admit my sample size is low and it absolutely could be!

I do have a problem with anons trying to like bait me into answering their asks with a "I just want a reasonable discussion using critical thinking" type starters because a lot of the time, it doesn't seem to be in actual good faith and I hate spending my limited free time talking in circles. If that's what you actually want, just talk to me kindly like an actual human being please. Lol

The one bigger thing that I did take away from this, and that I will be going to sit and think on further is that anon has made me realize that I am probably also getting more easily annoyed with something I may consider eye roll worthy that someone else probably doesn't way more than I used to. Might not be the point they were trying to make but it's making me think.

I used to have SO much more patience and kindness for people who were insecure, even annoyingly so and not just trolls, or to have more in depth conversations about things. I know part of it is because I had more free time to do so online during the pandemic than I do now. But I know a larger part of it is that I have become very bitter and disillusioned with this fandom space I have on this blog. Not with BTS or Jikook at all, but with my jikooker spaces. I've said this before. But it's really affected how I feel about it and how I interact here for sure too. I think that feeling that way is fair considering everything I have been put through here, and it's not entirely unreasonable. BUT

It's something I think I need to take time to really sit with and decide on what I want to do. Because it's also not fully fair to myself to simmer in that for something that's supposed to just bring me joy. The feeling is fair, but the results of it are a little less so. So I need to decide what I'm able and willing to let go of. Because it's not fair to carry that bitterness through all my interactions here. To me or to my followers. I'm not saying the same level of trust will probably ever return, it can't. That's just gone.... But I need to either let go and release those feelings and get back to letting this be something that's purely fun for me. Which includes engaging with y'all. Or I need to probably let the blog go. Never the fandom, I'm here with BTS for life man, but maybe curate a new and different space for myself (and not tell anyone lol) where I can just enjoy the content. Idk, something to sit with. Because I used to enjoy longer form discussions with people who disagreed with me more often. Lol I still do! I just have so much less patience for this entire space right now still. If I stay here making use of this space, I would want to get back to that. Where I had more enjoyment for everything that running this blog entails, including the more annoying aspects of it, like the insecurity rollercoaster, which I will continue to call out if anons bring it to my blog. 🤷‍♀️

TLDR: I'm still going to call people who are in the insecurity rollercoaster insecure. It's just what they are. Only if they don't want to engage in actual discussion or continue to go in constant circles. I don't think it's cultish or wrong to do so personally. But I can appreciate this post and the ideas behind it, even while I don't agree. 💜

On “Insecure Jikookers”…

Alright. I might lose followers for this and that’s very okay; curate your timeline and protect your peace babes. But for YEARS, every time the phrase “insecure jikooker” has come up on my feed my eyelid has done a little twitchy twitch 🤨🤨

And I have always ignored it, because I’ve never wanted to be out here policing ppl’s language and we are literally supposed to be having fun and celebrating love, like for me that’s the whole point, but —

I’ve been seeing the phrase popping up again surrounding the release of AYS and I just gotta say it.

You guys the term seems so culty 😬🥲

Like I think I get the origin (maybe)? It probably started when some of the early jikook bloggers (if you are one I salute you, I am not worthy, trust me this is NOT a dig at anyone, jikook bloggers are by and large cool and kind af 🙇‍♀️) would get these sketchy asks that were antis or cultists in disguise just casting aspersions on jikook’s bond or being blatantly homophobic and/or in general being rude little anonymous internet gremlins. Or maybe it was people who did want to believe that jikook was real but kept nagging and begging for reassurance at every turn, which I can totally see becoming annoying as hell and prompting people to start using the term.

But it feels like it’s used now as like a catchall for anyone who expresses any doubt or asks any critical questions? Even like… reasonable ones? And I used to see a lot of “hey believe what you want to believe but this is what I believe” but now it seems like the sentiment around jikooker communities has by and large become “if you don’t believe you’re an idiotic dumb person who has never known love — you’re either a rival shipper in disguise or WORSE (dun dun dunnnnn) an Insecure Jikooker — and we don’t want people like you around.”

And idk it just feels weird for a community that has always seemed to kind of pride itself on being the “rational, fact-based” ship… like we LOVE to be smug about how jikook don’t need edits to be obvious, don’t need slo-mo zooms with red circles and arrows because their chemistry and fondness and affection is just plain to see in basic footage. We’re the levelheaded ones 😌.

But doesn’t that mean that we should always be encouraging critical thinking, and if someone comes to a different conclusion than us, so be it? Like it or not, none of us have foolproof confirmation that jikook are anything more than very close friends. That’s literally all we know. The rest is our best guess based on vibes, anecdotes, dot-connecting, subtext and body language observation, experience, perception (!!This is a big one because confirmation bias is real!!), and suspicion. That’s literally it.

Look maybe I’m just projecting 😅 but when you criticize people for expressing reasonable doubt over something that is literally not confirmed, it’s just a little too religious fundamentalist for me! (This is why I was a bad Christian, because I always raised my hand and asked questions the Sunday school teacher didn’t like.)

Feel free to ignore me. I never want to come across as pushy or trying to stir up anything, it’s just a phrase that grinds my gears and I’m sort of hoping I’m not alone in that… but if I am, so be it! 🤣 would love to hear people’s thoughts because maybe I’m missing something.

I was supposed to watch Only Friends after Pit Babe but then took over a week off of watching new shows because I had to write a Pete/Kenta fic and now instead of Only Friends, I'm watching The Sign.

I know incredibly little about this show except it involves Billy and a guy I don't know, there's monsters? sci-fi/fantasy elements? cops? I watched like a few tiktoks/gifsets from eps 1 and 2 but those didn't give away much. Also, there was angsty stuff going on in this show during that week when Pit Babe ep 10? aired and [redacted] [redacted] and Last Twilight was getting a lot of flack for ep 12 but I can't remember if it was because somebody died or not

Anyway, here we go, hope to love it, as always.

I wish the first 10 minute fight sequence was shorter because we knew nothing but the last 3-4 minutes was interesting because we see more of the characters at play beyond just fighting

Also, Pit Babe and The Sign started in November while Dead Friend Forever started in December. The people who watch these BLs weekly must've been having a ball with so many shows exploring new genres and high-concepts in BL. Also interestingly, both Pit Babe have Pavel and Billy who each have been in BLs before and lead them as one of the main pairs while their partners Pooh and Babe are new to the industry. Ta and the other guys apply a little less since Ta only had small roles before and Dead Friend Forever seems more ensemble cast but kinda similar ig

As expected, I have a hard time stopping watching a show when I start even though I have work to do.

and it’s not like the trope of perfectly fine adult relationship that had random childhood backstory for no reason. this one is that the reason they even have this adult friendship and crush is because they met each other that time and were told they’ll meet again since their lives are intertwined ah Phaya dreamt of the naga often as a child

I was kinda avoiding watching the dream sex scene (watched it in mini on the corner of my screen lol) and so I didn't have too many thoughts except once Phaya wrapped his palm around Tharn's neck. But going through people's gifsets, I've seen a few mentions of how we know this is a manifestation of Tharn's desires, whether it be the choking kink lol or liking getting pushed around dommed and that it's fun to actually get to see his fantasy like that. honestly a FAVE aspect when I think about it that way like aw his desire to be manhandled

Then finally, the dream where we get Freen magic lady, kinda confirmation that she's indeed Tharn (this life), and also a visual of that tall eagle man. Also, from gifs, I realized that the amulet or whatever Tharn used to defeat the killer was his own, he tore it from his neck

Okay, in this universe, it's just like ours where the stories of Naga and Garuda are thought to be myths/legends. I kept getting confused how much regular people believed because everybody seemed to believe whatever the monk said but that involved a lot of fantastical aspects + the Naga festival, so I wasn't sure what people in general believed (not just what Phaya and Tharn who are like reincarnations or smth of magical creatures believe lol)

Was too sleepy to write anything for 6-4 but I have half-baked thoughts about the punch ig. On some YT comments and tiktok comments, I saw people annoyed at Tharn for not believing Phaya and people were calling him too stubborn and naive. I do think he should've taken Phaya's warnings/dreams more seriously cuz like girl, you're always seeing visions of him in danger so it can't be that much of a stretch to think he dreams of you in danger c'mon. But I also think Phaya is kinda too vague and doesn't explain properly like he can't just expect to burst in and physically drag Tharn away from Doctor who he has known for years and years and trusts; in contrast, Phaya and Doctor fought and Phaya even physically pushed him or whatever. So I get Tharn being like wtf... and also Phaya being desperate.

I hope they make up next ep (properly. through conversation and honesty and understanding) so that we can get them together again though bc we barely had them together this ep and unfortunately unlike Pit Babe ep 11 where the other characters were able to carry the ep w/o much Babe or Charlie, I don't care as much about the characters here.

As a mix of Death's Game murder artist + last ep's ending where Tharn saw someone (I'm assuming this guy) in a room maybe killing someone with red everything, I thought this guy (Art?) was gonna kill his (ex?)-lover. I wish we got... slightly more time and a more coherent story that Showed the past life story better. I think this show is good with broad themes and parallels and characterization but kinda struggles sometimes with specific moments/scenes, which can make it kinda confusing or unsatisfying - this scene of the past life kinda feels like that to me.

no fr what is that ending, Tharn stayed with Doctor for a year on purpose? and Doctor decided to just get over it? And so Tharn appears all casually over the hill a year later? Seriously needed a stronger ending.

Overall:

I think I liked the first few eps and the potential of the series and the possibilities more than I liked the actual series oof. Since everybody freaking loved this, I also had high expectations.

I just went through the gifs I'd reblogged (I reblogged A Lot cuz I thought I'd end up liking the show more than I ended up liking. went and deleted a bunch bc I was like why did I even reblog this one, what's the point) and I really did like more of the show's gifs from the earlier eps (whereas I enjoyed the analysis and stuff more in the later eps). Don't even feel like reblogging any ep 11 or 12 stuff now though, except maybe the checking under bed sequence. It was also just clear from how invested I was in an episode while watching because in the earlier eps, I was paying more attention and watched an ep in one sitting whereas in the latter half, I would pause in the middle of a section to go on my phone or even just stop watching the ep after a section, do stuff and then come back to finish.

I thought there would be more focus on the romance and fantasy and past lives aspect and less on the cop activity. Like there was no need to spend That much time on the rapist killer case nor Art and Kao's case, we could've spent that time on something like following up on what Lieutenant Tam had learned and the drug case/Tharn's father's case more directly along with more of the actual past lives and fantasy and such. In fact, we got so little about their past lives, I thought there were 4 cycles or something?

I don't know man, I feel like they didn't choose the correct things to show on screen? This sucks because they clearly put in So Much Effort and tried so many new things for BL, so I wish I had loved it more and was more attached.

I think most of the fight scenes and stuff were confusing and not choreographed very well and some interactions/moments/explanations needed to like have more time dedicated to them. However, some moments were just shot/directed so beautifully like ep 11 when grandma is going through the flashbacks of seeing Doctor with Tharn as a child and uni student etc from that single room and ep 12-3 when Phaya wakes up to find Tharn gone, looks under the bed, and the whole sequence after that. (Unfortunate that the reunion scene was so meh).

So many parallels and gifsets of parallels, I keep having to remember my parallels tag is for across different shows while compilation in the tag for same show. I enjoy the parallels and the thought put behind them. It also shows like the cyclical nature of Phaya and Tharn's lives, and it would've been even more impactful if we saw more of their past lives (the original one or the 2 that occurred in the middle apparently).

Highly doubt I'm gonna think of the characters again, I somehow stopped being attached to them about halfway through. Really wanted to give it at least a 7 for trying so many things but don't think it earned it sadly. They tried so many things, as shown in the list of tropes below, but I don't think they satisfyingly merged them or chose the correct things to focus on on-screen.
