I kinda read fic in fits and starts, to be honest? Like it ebbs and it flows, pretty much, hah. So sometimes I read a TON of it and sometimes I pretty much don't read any at all. So like, currently not really, but previously enough that I def DO have recs, haha.

Not an exhaustive list of my faves, just some random Good Ones I can think of off the top of my head ( all some variant of DC or DPxDC ).

✨That… was actually good for the Yandere’s business, most of the time his victims were either for a ransom (and your talking made those victim a lot more desperate during the filming of the videos) or for informations (and your work did wonders on their will)

Currently being eaten alive by more Hunter x Hunter brainworms as we speak. Maybe I could make a new au where most (75%) people are normal (by hxh standards) but the remaining 25% are shapeshifters? The primarily carnivorous species would generally be considered “naturally superior,” while the primarily herbivorous species would be considered the weakest. Think Omegaverse type stuff, just without the mpreg (or with the mpreg, the sky’s the limit). I feel like the animalistic dynamics would fit well into hxh’s world, too.

Now for the important part;

Who is what animal?

The Zoldycks would be some sort of small wildcat I think, maybe Black Footed Cats, since they have the highest hunting success rate of any feline species?

I think Kurapika would be a brown rat, since he is the current rat of the Zodiacs, and also brown rats don’t look it, but they prefer to be carnivorous when they can be. Also, the whole everyone-hates-rats thing ties into his origin.

Leorio would be a wild boar, since he is the boar of the Zodiacs, and because it seems fitting for him to be a prey species posturing as a predator (wild boars sometimes eat eggs, insects, or small rodents, but they prefer a herbivorous diet).

As the protagonist, I think Gon would be an ordinary human, but he could be a boar too since Ging was the boar of the Zodiacs at one point.

Me half the time I'm working on my newest story: Omegaverse is filled with gendered stereotypes and allegory's for society's expectations of said genders, so I'm exploring that idea and the harmful impact it may have on individuals by telling the story of an omega who doesn't fall within the roles he's expected to, and how it affects his mental state to the point that it deteriorates his mind and existence, ultimately becoming somewhat of a think piece on how society's expectations weigh down and negatively impact all within it, especially women and/or those with uterus's in particular (coming from the perspective of a trans man who still looks enough like a women to be impacted by this shit).

like yeah you could read all or some of them as genuinely attracted to men, but. you also could... not. read it that way. and the game makes sense still if none of them are actually attracted to men. which is CRAZY for a yaoi game

youji is uninterested in anyone at all until after he's been sexually assaulted and had his body renovated by the inner beings. he even says he's not really attracted to men, just to tetsuo. the idea of tetsuo as an exception is like, after being manipulated and gaslit into an attachment to him and huffing the alpha pheromones or whatever... he's attracted to him because the inner beings NEED him to be.

tetsuo has "girls on rotation" and only became interested in youji because of the inner beings & pheromones & trauma as well.

makoto didnt feel that he was attracted to any men until youjis omega pheromones drove him crazy (and again, isnt attracted to men in general, just youji's pheromones)

zenya is on some other level of delusion and self-hatred with his "defect" where he wants to possess and impregnate youji to prove himself as a Male or something.

i finished this game wholly unconvinced that ANY of them are genuinely attracted to men 😭 is it just me? or did anyone else come away from the game feeling similarly?

Ok but my favorite worldbuilding thing is when characters are queer, but the terms or ways they are queer are specific to the way the way that fantasy culture/species works. Like if a species had 6 sex categories, how would that affect transition, how would it affect gender/gender roles.

Only specific example I can think of is in some misceverses/omegaverses there will be people who are trans-dynamic/trans secondary gender, or people that are nonbinary (nontrinary?) of their dynamic/second gender.

Or like Kanaya in homestuck is considered queer by human standards for dating women but by troll standards (a mostly pansexual species) the notable part of her sexuality isn't that she dates women, but that she specifically doesnt date men, so itd be seen more like being partially asexual since she doesnt experience a part of typical attraction. But trolls also don't have terms for queerness so they don't categorise Kanaya or her attraction as anything.
