2,7,8, and 12 + Olu for the character game!
Olu!!!
2: favorite canon thing about this character?
I love how Olu is generally a very competent, reasonable type of person until he has a crush and then he just becomes A Guy With A Crush and gets all adorably shy and awkward. All his cute awkward moments with Jim in s1 and that moment where he's shyly sliding his hand towars Zheng across the table - all so precious and relatable.
7: what's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I actually adore how we all talk about how hot and cute and desirable Olu is (I mean look at him!!!) because it's so so cool to see a fat Black man be seen as so desirable by a fandom!
8: what's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Thank fucking g-d I seem to have cultivated my fandom sphere well enough that I practically never see Olu slander cross my dash. I did see a few people in the tags once wondering why Zheng was attracted to Olu and I still see red when I think about that tho. Absolutely shaking with rage like a chihuahua.
I also do think there's a bit of a tendency to make him into too much of a straight man in fics, because yes while he is often a voice of reason he's just as muppet-y as everyone else. My guy is the sweetest character on the show but just told the Swede to go for a run when he had scurvy. The beanie stays on during sex. He had a great time playing drown-the-mops with Jim and Archie. He's fun and he seems kinda boring in fics a lot and that makes me sad!
12: what's a headcanon you have for this character?
I think he's a polyglot! We already know he speaks Spanish but some people just have a Vibe of being good with picking up languages and Olu hits that vibe for me. He's just a really good communicator in general so I headcanon him as that guy who knows how to at least hold a basic conversation and ask for directions in a bunch of languages.
Send me a character and questions!

Cholo Life
âFirst the damned Democrats stole the elections from us and now they are stealing our identity!â Manolo began to roll his eyes. He was familiar with this. When KJ worked himself into a rage, he sounded like a personal disciple of Trump. âI mean that they eat the cats in Springfield and the dogs, it's not just an isolated incident, they do it everywhere!â âKyleâŠâ Manuel began. KJ gave Manolo a friendly punch on the shoulder. He knew that when Manuel called him âKyle,â Manolo was angry. âOf course I don't mean you,â said KJ. âYou're an American through and through, you're American as peanut butter!â Of course that wasn't true. Manolo was born in Lima, went to school in Lima, and only came to Minnesota with his parents at the age of eight. But his parents had placed great importance on him learning the language quickly, and today Manolo speaks better English than his best friend from school days, KJ.
Kj, on the other hand, was a prime example of a junior at an American college: muscular, bright eyes, fair complexion, of course he played American football, and of course he parroted what Trump said without thinking. Yes, he was damn good-looking, but yes, he was also a real airhead. And even though olu secretly had a crush on KJ, KJ was out of reach for Manolo. You couldn't be more straighter than KJ.
KJ was studying business. With a bit of luck, he would at least get his bachelor's degree. Manolo had already graduated from high school two years before KJ and was about to get his bachelor's degree in biochemistry. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, who ran the research department of a seed company here. KJ, on the other hand, would join his father's trucking company and would alternate between driving trucks on the highways and struggling with the accounting in the office.
âBesides, you yourself admitted that you eat pets. You said that your grandmother serves guinea pigs.â âYes, but first of all, my grandmother doesn't steal the guinea pigs from some guys in Ohio, but has her cook buy and prepare them at the market, and secondly, guinea pigs are a delicacy where we come from. We find it rather absurd that youâŠâ âAll fake news!â KJ countered. âAdmit that the whole world would be in ruins without the USA. Our culture is simply superior!â There were situations in which Manolo was annoyed at being physically inferior to KJ. There were situations in which he just wanted to smash KJ's face in. It was really crazy that a guy who already classified cartoons as art wanted to lecture him on culture. His abuela had once given him a lucky charm that he always carried in his pocket. In situations like this, squeezing the stone firmly helped him. It drained the anger out of him. But this time was different. The stone became warm. The stone became hot! Manolo let go of it. He reached for the cold coke glass to cool his hand.
âAre you okay, hermano?â KJ asked. Manolo winced. That was the first time KJ had used a Spanish word correctly. âWould you order me another tequila? ÂĄTengo que mear!â Manolo looked after his friend. He had never drunk tequila before. KJ was also a feast for the eyes from behind. The torn jeans clung to his firm ass. His shoulders were broad. He was muscular. But not exaggerated. And his patriotic tattoos emphasized his masculinity. Manolo waved at the waitress and ordered two tequilas. He didn't usually drink. But maybe he could stand KJ better today if he was a little drunk.
The tequila arrived before KJ. And when KJ sat down, Manolo was playing with his cell phone. KJ took his tequila glass. âA nuestra salud y amistad, hermanoâ âA nuestra salud y amistad, KJâ Manolo replied distractedly, picked up the glass and was about to toast. He was frozen for a few seconds. What the hell had happened to Kyle? The smooth cheeks were covered by a hint of a beard. His tattoos had expanded. And now they had a lot more space too. Because KJ's muscles had almost exploded. His slender neck, with the Adam's apple whose movements always made Manolo so horny, had become a bull's neck tattooed all over. âDude, you look like you've seen a ghost,â KJ said. His English had a slight Spanish accent. And there was a tear tattooed under his one eye. Manolo ordered two more tequilas⊠Their conversation turned into Spanglish gibberish. And at some point into Spanish. KJ got terribly worked up about the gringos. In doing so, he accidentally knocked his trucker cap off his head. He picked up a bandana and tied it around his head. KJ's gaze became somehow different. While they were talking, he played with his nipples more and more. He looked at Manolo more intensely. Somehow⊠lustfully? âTengo que ir al baño otra vez. ÂżY no te gustarĂa venir conmigo?â KJ stood up. He was a muscleman. His tight-fitting tank top emphasized his muscles even more. With every twitch of the muscles, the tattoos moved, creating a real cartoon. His ass looked phenomenal in the pleated pants. If Manolo had to create a wank fantasy, this is what it would look like. And now the wank fantasy was telling him to follow him to the restrooms. Damn it! KJ looked like a real cholo. And he was a square college student in khakis and a button-down. Manolo hesitated for a moment. And then he followed KJ. KJ? Why âKJâ? I have no idea when the nickname developed. CĂ©sar Jesus should have been called CJ. But some stupid gringo hadn't understood that in elementary school. And so he had eventually become KJ. And the nickname stuck.
KJ was standing at the urinal. Manolo could see from behind that he was about to jerk off. Even though they had known each other since childhood, he had never seen KJ's cock. KJ's father had the typical conglomerate that enterprising wetbacks build. He had a few trucks that he used to transport goods or help with removals, he owned a few cafes, a laundry⊠And KJ was supposed to take over this small local empire at some point. His parents had always hoped that the friendship with the clever and ambitious Manolo would have a positive effect on KJ. But KJ had always been the type to hang out with the bad boys. And who could blame him? He looked just as brutal and manly as his father.
Manolo stood next to CĂ©sar at the urinal. CĂ©sar pretended not to notice Manolo. His tattooed hand jerked his cock, which was also covered in tattoos. It was a monster that offered almost as much surface area for artistic decoration as Manolo's thin forearm. CĂ©sar pushed up his tank top with his other hand, revealing his granite abs and finally his nipples. He played with his right nipple with his left hand. And Manolo, whose cock was almost as hard as CĂ©sar's muscles, couldn't help but suck on the left nipple. âSiempre supe que detrĂĄs de la fachada de empollĂłn se escondĂa una zorrita,â CĂ©sar moaned. He let go of his nipple and pushed Manolo gently but firmly onto his knees. And Manolo greedily licked the precum from CĂ©sar's gleaming glans. This beast was not the first cock he sucked. But it was the biggest. And its owner was the one he wanted to satisfy more than anyone before. They had been like dissimilar brothers. Now he wanted to be this giant's whore. And CĂ©sar obviously wanted him to be his whore. He enjoyed the blow job and moaned loudly enough to signal to anyone who wanted to use the toilet that it was occupied. Manolo sucked CĂ©sar's cock and jerked his own. Both came almost simultaneously. It was impossible for Manolo to swallow all of CĂ©sar's cum. And his own cum splashed onto his shirt. Exhausted, he fell back. CĂ©sar was breathing heavily, too. âNecesitas una camisa nueva, hermanito,â he said. Manolo certainly couldn't go out like that. CĂ©sar took off Manolo's shirt and wiped his cum-smeared face with it. Then he took off his sweaty tank top. It was a bit difficult because it couldn't be easily pulled over his muscular body. He handed it to Manolo. Of course it was too big. But it felt good. And CĂ©sar would make sure that he would fill it out better soon. Today two men became real cholos.

Fun and Games is a perfect episode to me. Ed and Stede's arguments and reconciliation are so real. Izzy is so pathetic and strange he's able to unite the crew. My best friend Roach gets more than one line. Olu says "yeah babe" to Jim. Buttons is litterally a bird. "Seabird" plays as an antidote to the bird that never lands.

Why am I scared based on the summaries and that one interview in which David Jenkins talks about Olu and Jim as if they're "friendly exes" that we are not going to get poly Jim x Archie x Olu x Zheng and instead two separate couples? Bc if I was Jim Jimenez and had finally let my guard down and sought happiness and intimacy only to have it ripped away from me a few hours later and then spent months trying to fight to stay sane and alive (finding another love along the way, yes, but still missing Olu with my whole heart), then I would not fucking consider him an ex. Same from Olu's POV, having a crush on my best friend for a year, finally getting to be intimate, then having it snatched form me and worrying for months about them possibly being dead until finally finding them bloody but fucking alive. That's not an ex- that's such a goddamn amazing dynamic the writers should kiss themselves, especially if they make it poly. In this essay I will-
(Sigh. At least there's always fanfic. And a fic series about them already being written/updated at that- lemme know if anyone wants the link, it is actively rewriting my brain cells as I read!)

garlic soup (goop) ranked by how awkward they're all going to be about this new relationship dynamic from least to most awkward:
archie. archie is the rare type of autistic who's socially oblivious yet aware in exactly the right amounts (with a heaping dose of unending good vibes and nonchalance) to always come off as charming and affable instead of awkward. even when she's saying things that should by all rights be awkward and weird it never feels awkward. I think awkward archie is a rare sight to behold. she flirts with jim and basically stumbles ass backwards into dating the Nicest Man In The Entire World and the Badass Pirate Queen. she's ecstatic. she's thrilled. she's having a great time. she is not catching that this situation could be awkward.
jim. jim is dtf. they're best friends with olu and they clearly really like archie and flirts a little with zheng. jim was probably playing the intermediary role already, helping olu and archie get to know each other better, so adding zheng to the mix is easy peasy lemon squeezy. and jim doesn't mind a bit of awkwardness. did they handle visiting their nana in the best way? perhaps not, but while the awkwardness bothered them a little, they weren't that awkward.
olu. olu, bless his heart, can absolutely get awkward when romance is involved. let me point you to 1x02 and how he responds to the older man suggesting he's in love. olu absolutely has an awkward streak in him that comes out when relationships are involved. olu knows zheng has a very different personality from jim and archie. archie has never repressed a single thing in her life, and while jim can be repressed and secretive, they've opened up quite a bit. zheng is still repressed and archie and jim's loud and open approach to relationships could freak her out for many reasons (she doesn't have control of the situation, feelings are embarrassing), so he's going to be stressing a little at the beginning before everything's settled yet. he's going to be the one reminding the three of them about a little tool called "communication."
zheng. I love zheng with my whole heart and I love how awkward she also gets when it comes to her own feelings. I love how olu turns her into a teenage girl, almost. she's spent her entire life repressing her own emotions to come off as a badass, so they kinda didn't get a chance to develop past her teenage years, most likely. she's never had one good partner, let alone three, and it's absolutely going to be overwhelming. she's absolutely going to be freezing up and fumbling and being awkward until things settle.

While I'm on my ofmd critical soapbox today, the next thing I wanna bitch about is the fact they split up Olu and Jim.
I had a pretty strong impression that the reason they did this was because they're two of the bi-est people on-board and season 2 had an explosion of female characters. The vibes, to me, were, "Oh, well, they're good friends anyway so it doesn't matter if they stay together romantically." Which irritated the fuck out of me.
Every other romance in the show feels like the romance takes precedence over the actual friendship between the characters. That's fine. That's a lot of people's cup of tea. But, as a demisexual, it was really nice and refreshing to see a couple of characters be best friends before getting together. Their dynamic was really solid and relatable and interesting to me. They were playful and silly but still clearly madly in love with each other.
The second season fucking poached their romance.
The fact that it's never even addressed, really.
I support people who like the new relationships they're in in season 2. If you felt represented or saw yourself in those relationships, or just thought the chemistry was good, that's great. I'm glad you got something out of it.
To me, it felt really forced. It felt like they were only put into these relationships to make a romantic space for the female characters in the show.
There were a million other ways they could have improved on the amount of women in the cast without cutting out Olu and Jim's romantic relationship. Imagine the intensity of their reunion if neither of them had connected with anyone else. Imagine the heartache of seeing them reconnect after thinking the other was dead.
Instead, there's this kind of patched-up awkward conversation about them both liking other people now - not even an emotional conversation. They never mourn what they lost, they act as if it never happened almost. Like they were always only ever friends who just happened to fuck once or twice.
Do not even get me started on the "forced closure" vibes of Jim trying to help Olu get back with Yi Sao. Fuck.

Let's do soup.
A lot of people have been talking about how soup is doing some symbolic lifting in this season, but I've gotten really stuck on this scene in particular. Ed doesn't know that Hornigold is his own subconscious yet, but he confronts him about a time that Hornigold killed a member of his own crew (hey Ed are you maybe feeling bad about something?) and Hornigold gives him three options for dealing with all the horrible shit he's seen, done, or been unable to stop.
The first option is just "move on, you gotta move on." Or, in other words "toughen up, who cares that you feel bad about it, just lock that shit up and get over it." Ed got this advice a lot in season one. Izzy told him "the love of a pet makes a man weak" and Calico Jack told him "what kind of pirate has a friend, we're all in various stages of fucking each other over." It seems like this is just what pirates do. Frenchie starts out this season talking about how he bottles it all up. It's a stand in for all the toxic masculinity and repression that the show enjoys unpacking - in Hornigold's mind, if feelings can't rebuild an abdominal wall, they're useless.
The second option is "blow your brains out." It's become pretty clear at this point that Ed is trying his best to get someone angry enough to kill him. In season one, Ed is told repeatedly that dying is what happens when you fail to do option one. When Izzy says, "the only retirement we get is death," that's what he means. Ed can't retire, can't stop being a pirate, can't do things differently. He has to tread water until he drowns. When Izzy says "Blackbeard is my captain. I serve Blackbeard, not Edward. Edward better watch his fucking step," he is telling Ed to toughen up or die. At this point Ed, unimpressed, asks "Those are the options?" Hornigold does his little bup-bup-bup thing where he weighs them in his hands and says "Or, we could just make some soup."
Ed says "Yeah, soup. Let's do soup."
The third option is "soup." Soup can mean a lot of things - it's warm, it's nourishing, it's what you eat when you're sick. The show has been tying it to the crew of the Revenge by having them continually eat soup and talk about how great it is (Notably, in the scene above, Olu asks Yi Sao if she's really a soup seller and she says "Not exactly.")
What does "make some soup" mean for Ed? I think, above all, it's a third option in what has been an inescapable dichotomy of "be tough or die." The first person to break this dichotomy in the show is Stede, when he refers to piracy's culture of abuse and says "And my thought is, 'Why? And also, what if it weren't like that?'" before encouraging his crew to talk through their feelings. To the surprise of literally everyone, that works. The crew of The Revenge took the space that Stede gave them and built a family inside of it. They gave Ed the idea that maybe "tough it out or die" aren't the only two options, and he's still thinking about it even now.
Making soup is also work - Ed's going to have to deal with the fact that he tried to torture his crew into killing him - but it's good, useful work. It could be a metaphor for the kind of work you have to do to repair relationships with people you've hurt. The first thing Ed does in this episode is refuse the soup that Hornigold is giving him. It's poison, he doesn't want it.
So, I'm wondering if there's going to be a moment later in the season where Ed either literally makes soup or accepts it from someone else, and whether that will be Important To His Arc in some way.
Also, I'm really craving soup, so.
#hey what if I spent my entire evening writing a meta about soup#my nonsense#our flag means death#my brain just wouldn't let go of SOUP#ofmd meta#ofmd s2#this is all actually meaningless and david jenkins is just in the pocket of Big Soupâą#edward teach#our flag means soup

I'm trying to roughly order things from the teaser/trailer/stills based on outfits and such. I'm also trying to keep straight in my head which parts have the crew still separated and which parts they have been reunited.
All of the production stills for episodes 1 and 2 don't have any mixing of the two crews. And Archie starts with Ed's crew. Partway through episode 2 is probably the earliest that we could have the crews reuniting.
Raiding weddings is just Ed's crew (including Archie). This is in the first episode as the cake topper appears in a still for 2x01. The face paint seems to be only for dramatic effect during raids. So that bit where Ed throws the knife past Izzy's head is possibly right before or after a raid. I'm going to go with after and Ed has stolen the cake toppers and wants Izzy to leave him alone so he can cry with his dolls.
In all the stills for 2x01 Stede's crew are wearing the same outfits as the end of S1, except Stede has accessorized with a little red scarf. This includes the scenes of Stede finding the wanted poster and talking to Olu about how he and Ed were on a break.
Ed crying on the floor and then deciding to stop the drinking and drugs seems to be 2x02. I think he's talking to Frenchie there and it's probably connected to the scene with Ed intensely standing over Frenchie.
The storm is just Ed's crew on the Revenge. Ed is wearing the cravat here.
Chinese outfits
Stede is wearing it in some of the production stills for 2x02.
They're wearing them in this bit where Buttons goes between ships. And of note Lucius is with Stede's crew.
So this scene where they're all wearing these outfits could very well be when they find Lucius again (or all of the rest of the crew). Stede has a little headband here as well as in the EW still where his crew is looking happy on deck. None of the other shots in this outfit include the headband so he must take it off after. Possibly Stede looks less excited in these shots because Ed isn't with the rest of the crew and they don't find him until a bit later
They're wearing them in the crossbow scene and there's Archie in the background. It's cut with this other shot of Ed's crew
Stede is wearing this outfit in the headbonk scene with Ed. And the cuts on Ed's face are still bleeding here. Ed is also wearing the cravat in this scene. This may be when they first find Ed again, having already reunited the rest of the crew
There are various scenes of Izzy seemingly training Stede. Stede is wearing the shirt from 2x01, minus the red scarf this time. This is also what he's wearing when he throws the message in a bottle. After Stede found Ed bleeding, Ed told him to fuck off and ran off to the woods? So Stede reluctantly teams up with Izzy to try to get Ed to come back?
There are various scenes of Ed in the woods (possibly with Hornigold or ghost!Hornigold?). Ed firing a gun near his little shelter. Ed throwing himself off a cliff? Ed meeting his new bunny best friend. Ed has the cuts on his face but he's not actively bleeding in all these scenes.
Stede is wearing the same outfit when he and Ed meet with Anne and Mary. Ed smokes weed with them. Anne is trying to seduce Stede? Ed also has the cuts on his face here. This is when Stede finds Ed again after he emerges from the woods?
In this shot we have combined crews. Jim and Izzy. Olu and Pete. Lucius is there (I'm still not entirely sure which crew he starts with but I'm still choosing to believe Lucius in the walls)
And they all seem to be wearing the same outfits here. Olu, Jim and Archie are also wearing these outfits in the garlic scene.
And Stede is wearing the same outfit with Ed here
Slutty blue shirt
Stede's wearing it in the torturer scene (I suspect this is a fuckery but not sure). He does not yet have the earring. The crews are combined here.
Stede is still wearing this shirt during the battle on the beach. He has now acquired an earring. Ed is also here. The bit with Frenchie and Lucius grabbing a guy by the feet looks like it also belongs here. Stede is also wearing this shirt with earring in the bit where he's talking about having been a failure his whole life.
Ed is wearing Buttons' shirt at Spanish Jackie's so it would seem this is after the crews have reunited. And it would appear Swede has already become one of her husbands.

I don't think I've ever felt so much love for the entire cast of a show before. Like, I'm the biggest Gentlebeard fan around, I might as well have a tattoo of Ed and Stede kissing on my forehead, but even then I genuinely have a really hard time deciding who my favorite character in this show is.
Oluwande? Sweet, responsible Olu, who could be Jim's family if they wanted, and was elected captain by unanimous vote, and told Stede that he had nice hair when he was sulking. I can't wait to see what he gets up to and for him to reunite with Jim.
Roach? My absolute beloved? Who can make tapas and sleeps cuddling a bag of onions? Every time he is on screen my life is better.
Jim? God's specialist assassin? I can't wait to see them get to be more silly this season.
Lucius? My friend Lucius? Who is alive? Can't wait to see how his swimming lessons went.
Black Pete? Who got a boyfriend and whittled him a wooden finger? I can't wait to see how his character continues to mature.
Frenchie? Inventor of the pyramid scheme and fanfiction? I'm so excited to see him thriving again.
Wee John? My friend Wee John who likes to sew dresses and can make the best foghorn noises? My every waking thought is consumed by being excited to see him in drag.
Buttons? The second craziest blond man on that ship? I hope he gets to put more curses on more people.
The Swede? My sweet, sweet boy? So excited to see what he's up to in that jacket. Get it, babe
And we can't forget about Fang, who has stunning cheekbones and genuinely the cutest laugh ever! Loving his look this season, so happy every time I see his new jacket.
I can't even decide what I'm most excited for in season two because I'm so excited to see everyone.

I'd personally find it pretty funny and fitting if they take the OFMD route and completely make TedTrent canon in the very last episode.
One thing Ted Lasso and OFMD have in common is the way they allow each relationship and dynamics its own runtime and moments that really flesh out each character and why this pairing is as important and why they love and care for each other before they are canon.
IE: Jim and Olu, Lucius Black Pete,Frenchie and Wee John, and Stede and Ed for OFMD
And: Keeley and Jamie, Keeley and Roy, Roy and Jamie, Rebecca and Keeley, Nathan and Jodie(I think that's her name), Jamie and Sam, Colin and Isaac, Ted and Rebecca, Ted and Coach Beard, and Ted and Trent in Ted Lasso.
Romantic and Platonic relationships are the backbone of these shows.
Now at this point we some/one ship is canon before the ending.
ie: Lucius and Black Pete and Nathan and Jodie.
And we know(at least we hope we're right for this whole idea to work) that at least a few will be canon at the very end(I say very end cause we literally only have two episodes left and OFMD still only has one season at the time of me writing this.).
That being, Jim and Oluwande.
And the one possible ship that will be canon(cause come on it has to) is Roy and Keeley or Roy, Keeley, and Jamie(polyship pleaseđ)
The only ship we don't know the future of cause one is in the fear of a life threatening break up and the other is literally less than 5 minutes of screen time is Stede and Ed and Ted and Trent.
Stede and Edward were confirmed in the second to last episode for their separation even though the two clearly had a thing for each other. However before that(and this is from an outsiders perspective so bare with me) some scenes were seen as platonic by many, even by fellow lgbtq fans cause we're used to gay coded character unfortunately being not gay canon wise. Even thought the subtext is VERY and CANONICALLY not straight.
Ted and Trent's moments; while subtle, are very very meaningful because despite the very little screen time together, there's a lot THERE. Specifically in this recent episode where Ted and Trent are hanging out with Rebecca during her girl talk. The way the camera stills on Ted making it seem like he's the only one there to the show us that NO Trent Crimm is also there and quite literally the way better candidate for girl talk sessions.
This moment really gave me "I like your wife/partner better, they are my best friend now" vibes and I think that was intentional, ESPECIALLY with the small nod and smile Ted gives Trent afterwards.
They are colleagues, work friends even, so for them to have these subtle moments and seem to be out of a romcom is...đđ
As i mentioned in my early Tedependant post I wouldn't be surprised if the pulled the subtle canon route and their endgame scene is also very small but hold A TON of meaning.
This is all just a âšïžtin foil hat tomfooleryâšïž
#ted lasso#tedependent#trent crimm#tedtrent#saturn rambles#ted x trent#rebecca welton#ted lasso spoilers#i just love them all okay#i need them to be happy and in love#im fully accepting the tin foil hat now guys#ive converted#keeley jones#roy kent#jamie tartt#roy x keeley x jamie

Favourite line in Our Flag Means Death
Iâve been ticking off squares in the OurFlagTurns2 bingo card for the second birthday of the show. It is impossible to pick one Our Flag Means Death line because there are SO many, so Iâve picked one line per person from season 2 (and even then there are many more I could have picked!)
Jimâs âThere was a time when life meant something on this ship. When we lived for each other not just to survive. I guess you never know when youâre in the good old days."
Archieâs âShit, heâs Stede, like Stede Stede... I just thought youâd be taller. muscly, charismatic."
Roachâs "Are you guys tasting this? This broth, it's, it's beautiful. Complicated, balanced. It might be the best thing I've ever had⊠We eat but how often do we taste?"
Olu to Zheng: âOh Iâm sorting them by weight I could do it by width if you wanted or I could even open it up and do it like that."
And Auntieâs response: "I had a system!" Zheng: "What was your system?" Auntie: "Ah well. You wouldnât understand because it was ahead of its time."
Frenchieâs âIt is quite hot isnât it. Iâm burning up here. Shall we go and get some cooling bevvies."
Izzy to Stede: "You and me did this to him and we cannot let this crew suffer any more for our mistakes."
Edâs âA wolf! Are you a friend wolf?â Or âAgain with the beard. I'm sorry if my horrible, naked chin disgusts you so much."
Wee Johnâs "What the hell is going on in towels?" Peteâs âOh look, running waterâ. Buttonsâ âItâs like a non stop knocking shop on that ship." Fangâs âNot me either Blackbeard. I mean Auntie."
Zhengâs âGirl, how are you? You must feel so weird. Like, you're glad he is alive, but then he did all this evil sh*t to your friends."
And Stedeâs âWell, it feels pretty complicated, actually. And bad. It feels bad. I feel like I let him down. And that I'm the cause of a lot of this. Yeah I shouldâve just told him how I feel. But I was scared and now here we are."

Hello buddy!! I'm so sorry it's taken me literally a month to get to these, but here we go!!
10) Top three favourite fic tropes.
Oooooh GREAT question. Hmmm they're all like whumpy XD
When someone shows up at someone else's door bloodied or sick and then passes out when they answer it
love confessions when they think the other person is dying
any enemies to lovers (bonus if it's enemies to fuck buddies but still enemies to lovers)
extras: hiding an injury/illness, and taking a wound for someone else :3
20) Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you?
I work on so many đ« (melting face emoji)
But honestly, a combo of both! I always have a massive list of WIPs (think: upwards of 30 at a time), because I start projects and then have difficulty finishing them. I typically have around 5 fics on rotation that I am actively working on at a time.
However, I do finish things best when I buckle down and like, dedicate a week or two or whatever to finishing a single thing. So typically when something is getting towards being done, that's what'll happen, and then I'll go back to slowly picking away at many things.
21) Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what's your secret?
Answered here! Short answer though: LMAO NOPE
23) Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?
I love writing dialogue SO much more hahaha! Honestly part of description for me is that it takes a lot more cognitive work - especially if it's setting/space and place type stuff. I can picture and think about how bodies move in my head pretty easily, but I find it really hard to do with places!!!
Dialogue, on the other hand, just comes naturally (most of the time). I think I could 1000% write a fic that was entirely dialogue, I just won't because it's not what I find fun to read.
30) Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.
God. I mean I have many, many abandoned or half-abandoned fics - more for UnDeadwood than OFMD, but definitely in both. (Ranging from anywhere from a couple thousand words to one that is 90K and long abandoned [someday I'll give in and just publish shit as is])
A big one though was an UnDeadwood Watership Down AU - in which everyone (main 5 cast members, at least) were shifters, and Clayton's shifted form was a rabbit. It was Clayton POV, and laced with all sorts of the Watership Down rabbit religion etc. I think I had like 3-4K written for it.
Oh my god I also had a Ladyhawke AU??? For UnDeadwood?? That was devastating and very fun to write and never got finished - it also had somewhere around 5K written for it.
And that's not even considering the number of "hey omg this would be so fun" ideas - I love thinking about new fun wild AU's, and am very grateful for friends who listen and "yes and" me!!
39) Wildest AU scenario you have written?
Oh god that's a fun question.
UnDeadwood - I think it's a toss up between the jaws that bite, the claws that catch (snake creature Matthew, smutty Matty/Clayton(/Aly) in which Matthew has two dicks. That's it that's the fic. It is unfinished.)
The other UDW option is i found love where it wasn't supposed to be, written with @lovewithagirl, which features a whole lot of ghost sex (as in, sex between an alive person and a ghost)
I have a lot of different AU's for OFMD, but I think they feel a little more "normal" in comparison - they're more stuff like the Remington Steele AU or the Die Hard fic. The wildest is probably Ask Me Anything, written with @yerbamansa, which is a TealOranges Tumblr SMAU in which there is timey-wimey bullshit. Or maybe the Plumbing the Depths series, which is the Jim/Olu/literal kraken! Ed series, mainly for the rarepair.
Thanks so much for the ask, friend!! This was fun, and a nice lil distraction. And thanks for the patience as it took me so long to answer!!!
Writer Ask Game is here, for the curious - if you ask tho, be aware it may take me a while to get to it, life is making inbox answering more difficult these days <3
