last night i did in fact cuddle with joel. i cuddled with him all night. i know this because i was also awake all night. i got bouts of maybe five minutes at a time. but most of the time i simply couldn't breathe. but he was high and it made me happy so i went with it until i had to get up and he reached after me 🥺
once i leave bed he gets cold. he wanted my warmth back. i also imagine he simply wanted to cuddle me more. i love him so much. he's a cuddle bug when i'm back after being apart from him for a while. yes, when that happens i don't sleep much, but i enjoy being cuddled by him. he is gentle and i love him so much and i am more than happy to be cuddled and uncomfortable to be close to him. i'm just glad that he can sleep.
i know he doesn't sleep well, and his sleep isn't good because of his restlessness, the insomnia, and his back pain. so when i get up i try to make sure i don't wake him. also, when i get into bed after he's asleep, its the same thing. and when he decides in the middle of the night he needs to be warm, i deal with it as best i can to extricate myself from it or simply get comfortable. i don't sleep much because the balance i need of temperature, fresh air, and specific spots of comfort is difficult to achieve. it's a problem. hopefully a new mattress will help.
anyway.
today was great! but we basically were weathermen as we sent out notification after notification after notification about a storm in europe along the english channel. bunch of warnings, bunch of health and wellness checks, bunch of emails back and forth, and a high-level briefing.
my coworkers were so happy to have me back.
😂
because i'm the resident grammarian of the gsoc, having me out for any period of time is difficult for the quality of write-ups that go out. so my return meant that everybody was better off, even when i left the room to go bake cookies. i made some cookies in the toaster oven to have some fresh ones for tom. he enjoyed them. i ate most of them. i also enjoyed them. freshly baked cookies? that's my shit, dude. fuckin love that.
anyway, cookies and write-ups aside, i was so happy to be back at work today. the four of us did typing tests to see who types the fastest, and i proved twice why i'm the one who takes notes in meetings. i beat the next person by an additional 50%. there's 30, 45, 50, and then. 75. at least. like shit. okay. if i do other ones that number should go up to about 100 or so if we don't count accuracy. i can type notes lightning fast with about 80-90% accuracy, and even if some of it is fucked up, i can still read what it says and correct it to have properly written for later distribution.
(thanks mom! i got that from you.)
anyway, that's all funny to me.
after work, i met kristen for dinner at olive garden! i REALLY needed some good carbs and im happy that i was not vegetable-d out after eating a pack of tomatoes today. (i started eating them at like 7:30 this morning which confused the shit outta me.) but it was all good, and i ate enough and was happy with it all.
it was also really nice to see kristen again after having not seen her for a few weeks because i've been sick. she's the sweetest.
after dinner, i went over to walmart for a few things, most of which i found. i got tissues and blister because my nose and lips are chapped from the sinus infection, and i got myself a new purse and a new wallet for the fall season. i got a triangle bag that's leather which is brown and is WICKED cool, and a burgundy wallet that fits EVERYTHING and i even have a pocket for my gift cards! it's amazing and it fits SO MUCH. i quite enjoy it.
and once again, anyway, i now find myself in bed, desperate to sleep. i hope i can sleep well.

The sabbats are holidays celebrated throughout the year on solstices, equinoxes, and the midpoints between them. These sabbats form the Wheel of the year.
There is a controversy surrounding the dates of these holidays, as people celebrate them all over the earth, not only in the northen hemisphere but in the southern too.
One viewpoint is that the Sabbats should be celebrated as they were originally created to be... in other words, Samhain is October 31st, regardless of where you live. In the Southern Hemisphere, even though you are just gearing up to summer on October 31st, this perspective says that you celebrate the cleansing and releasing, the honouring of the dead just as you would if you lived in the Northern Hemisphere. The other viewpoint (the one I personally agree with) is that you should celebrate when you feel like the season corresponds with the holiday, in other words, your craft, your rules. So if you live in the southern hemisphere, you have the choice.
I’ll be writing the dates for each holiday starting with the northen hemisphere and then the dates that many people celebrate them in the southern hemisphere

𝚋𝚊𝚌𝚔𝚐𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍
the oliveri family are known for their wine & restaurant chain, oliveri ( humble ik ) . it started out in verona but they were able to expand it to the US , it was more profitable anyway. it’s very similar to the olive garden but more high end and italian .
that’s why rome was born in boston , ma. the oliveris fell in love with the city , a perfect mixture of historic & modern . although , his parents were always travelling back & forth between boston & italy , which would explain the numerous babysitters walking in and out of the household . they might’ve been really busy, but not busy enough to pop out 3 children , rome , of course being the middle child .
the oliveri aren’t insanely rich , but they are crazy rich . i mean they don’ t have 20 cars , but they did gift their child a bmw for his 16th birthday . their wealth resides somewhere in the scale between having a summer home in verona & having way more rooms than people in the house .
ever since he was a kid rome has always been a trouble child , his older brother was way too perfect & someone had to balance it out . he loved drawing on walls , hugging his dog to death ( not literally ) , playing sombre music at his piano recitals & hiding his brothers toys all around the house .
his behaviour changed over the years but never for the best . of course his parents sent him to a catholic boarding school , not only he would follow into his brother’s footsteps but it would teach him a couple of valuable lessons .
all he really learned was how to persuade adults into buying him alcohol and then pouring into water bottles so he could drink it in class, how to clean the smell of smoke or weed from any environment & his clothes , how to find loopholes in the school rules & numerous ways to sin .
he eventually graduated from the school, not without being threatened with expulsion a couple of times . whereas his brother went to harvard , of fucking course , rome decided to go to holloway . way more accessible, further from his parents & the fascinating history that lingered in the walls of the academy .
the summer before he moved to the academy , his parents sent him to verona to “ connect with his family ” but instead of staying at their summer home , he resided with his maternal grandmother , cecilia . she took no bullshit & cooked incredible meals . she taught rome valuable lessons & tried to fill his heart after all these years of neglect . with time & care , he softened a bit , his walls 2ft high instead of 3. he learned how to care deeply for people , especially cecilia .
𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢
rome is a bit of an enigma , he doesn’t like to share about his life , he thinks people don’t have to know . he mids his business & expects everyone to do the same .
he likes to seem that he gives no fucks , but that’s not entirely true . he has been invisible for long enough & deep down loves attention ( the right kind ) .
he loves his friends to death despite not showing it .
he’s a good flirt but that’s when he’s in a good mood , which isn’t often .
𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚘𝚗𝚜
he hates being called romeo , it’s cheesy ( his parents know it , who tf calls their kid romeo ?? ) . it’s rome or gtfo , his grandma is the only one who calls him romeo without him throwing a fit . the story behind his name is that his parents met in school while doing a romeo & juliet play .
he knows how to play the piano , but to spite his parents , he decided to go for the guitar . he has been playing for several years now , not in front of anyone really , it’s for himself . he kinda sounds like this .
remember when he went to boarding school ?? well , him & his friends had a competition in school who sinned the most . they kept tallys and all ... he won . ( btw sinning could also b wearing polyester ... get ur head outta the gutter john b )
if u didn’t catch on , he loves his grandmother to death . he sends her post cards now & then .
favourite historical moment u ask ?? the french revolution . or the 15th century w the medicis .
fluent in english & italian . when he doesn’t want someone to understand him he will speak italian , his phone & siri are also in italian bc ~ secretive ~
𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜
boarding school friends : pretty self - explanatory hehe .
brotp : they know everything or almost about each other , very funny sarcastic duo , a la jj and pope from outerbanks , scott and stilinsky from teen wolf or these two .
someone who sees he’d not a complete ass , maybe he helped them in some way ??? this is v vague & could b anything .
no idea what this is but i love it . support ??? emotionally healthy ??
someone who calls him out on his bs . maybe they hate rome or trying to help him ?
pls hmu for any connection !! i’m sure i’d love anything tbh !

[SPOILERS FOR THE SONIC MOVIE]
Ok, with the new trailer approaching, I thought that it would be good if I made a master post containing everything that we know for sure are happening in the Sonic Movie, thanks to an AMA done back in March.
The AMA was then proven to be true when the Sonic Movie trailer debuted in Cinemacon a month later, matching with a lot of what he said. Then Toywiz accidentally leaked that they were going to do some Sonic Movie toys, and one of them matched again with that AMA. It is legit.
So, needless to say, I’m going to literally spoil the entire movie. From beggining to the end. You’ve been warned.
Direct citations are in “”.
-The Movie is basically going to be a “Sonic; Origins”, it’s going to give backstory to Sonic and Robotnik, it’ll talk about how the two of them met, and how they became mortal enemies.
-Only the Robotnik name is used. No mention of the “Eggman” name.
-He gave the movie a 7/10 grade.
-If he had to compare this movie to a previous one, it would be the 2014 TMNT movie: “Id say it is more TMNT with reference to story and action balance. It's a solid mix between engaging action which continues to develop the bromance between sonic and Tom.”
- The movie is indeed, focused for the younger demographic, but there is some bonus for the long time fans: “ Its definitely being targeted towards youth demo. It seems their goal is to intro sonic to the next Gen of fans. More so with access to their parents wallets for spin off merch and happy meal toys. I enjoyed it similar to seeing transformers. Don't expect the green mile storytelling but turn your brain off and just enjoy for what it is. The cast does a great job”
-About Sonic himself in the movie:
*In order to survive, he keeps stealing stuff and living in the shadows of the Green Hills town. He usually steals food from super markets to eat, and also he steals a LOT of sneakers. He ends up being treated as an urban legend, called as the “Blue devil” by the locals, until he is discovered.
*Sonic isn’t from Earth, he comes from another dimension that is inhabited by other animals like him. Sonic’s past will be explored.
*It’s revealed that he was raised by an owl when he was a baby. Everything seems to point that she is a regular owl, not an anthro one. She eventually ends up dying for some unknown reasons, which will be a “tearjerker” scene.
*”Rings are how sonic got to earth. He can throw one and imagine a place and it will take him. He is fast from his first steps.”
*About Sonic’s ‘eletricity’ powers, he does it only when he focuses or is extremely emotional. His charged run is why he gets detected and why the power on the entire Pacific Northwest goes down and that’s how Robotnik comes into the film.
*But Sonic will need to learn how to control his powers though.
-About references to the old games, he said that: “It’s a good balance between giving the old fans something but introducing him to kids. I went in not knowing it was gonna be screened or any expectations. Cheesy but enjoyed it from start to finish. Jim Carrey kills the role.”
-About the movie’s plot:
* Sonic ends up being far away from his home planet and grows up on Earth. Ends up alone after some time and grew up staying hidden. Loneliness gets to him which leads to him making a massive energy disturbance, knocking out the power on the entire Pacific Northwest.
The government, scared by the blackout, decides to bring in Robotnik to find out why the energy disturbance happened. Hijinks ensue and a good story is told. Tom and sonic become best friends.
-About the action:
“ Action scenes were great in story telling and execution wise. Effects weren't complete so a lot of it was still early cgi and the hidden actors playing sonic. At one point he was just a blue doll on the counter lol”
-The movie is aiming for a PG Rating.
-About Robotnik:
“He's just a psycho super smart doc that works for the gov initially. They give him the power and he goes full Eggman lol. He's super obnoxiously smart too. Makes tons of comments in the film about how superior his brain is lol. Really fun role for Jim Carrey.”
“He doesn’t rock the signature look until tail end of movie. Has the typical long coat and all dark evil scientist look. Short mustache as well initially”
Robotnik trying to catch Sonic eventually makes him go more and more insane and obsessed with the hedgehog. With him eventually getting the “Eggman” look.
-”Lots of humor and fun for all ages. Kids ate the comedy up. Sonic dances right after an short battle and kids about died laughing in the theater.”
-The Chaos Emeralds are NOT present in this movie.
-There is a post credit scene:
“Robotnik is defeated and ends up on a foreign planet [possibly Sonic’s World] that Sonic was supposed to escape to in the event of being found on Earth. He is now hefty and rocking the full blown stache”
- “Sonic and Tom end up helping each other solve their personal conflicts. They balanced Sonic and Tom pretty well and they are a good duo.”
- There’s a scene in San Francisco that is a direct homage to City Escape.
-The only characters from the games that show up are Robotnik and Sonic.
- The movie has one car chase scene. Sonic does the floss to celebrate (that dance that is used in Fortnite) and “the kids ate it up”. About product placement, there is two, one with the Olive Garden restaurant and Puma. Tom also gets a gift card as an apology at the end from the gov guy who initially brings Robotnik into the picture.
-Yes, Sonic will floss in the movie.
- Tika Sumpter plays the character Annie Wachowski. She is a vet that is very gentle with Sonic. It’s thanks to her that Sonic felt that he could trust the Wachowskis.
- In order to retrieve Sonic’s lost rings, Sonic and Tom embark on a roadtrip to San Francisco, using Tom’s Tacoma.
The Tacoma’s roof is ripped out due to the automated car that Robotnik sent to attack them. This leads to a conflit between Sonic and Tom.
-About how Sonic and Tom meet:
“Tom has racoon problems in his trash. When he sees Sonic face to face for the first time. He tranqs him and puts him in a cage.”
Robotnik shows up and they escape and Tom begrudgingly agrees to help. His main concern is moving to SF to prove to himself that he can handle real cop crime and not Montana small world problems. You see it early on for character development.
-The movie’s runtime is around 90 minutes.
- “There were stakes and it balanced between a family adventure and action movie.”
-About the final battle:
" Yeah there's a good scene between doc and the good guys" It’ll be about Sonic and Robotnik running across the entire world using the Power Rings, they’ll end up in different places from Earth, such as Egypt and Paris.
-About Robotnik’s lackey:
Agent Stone is Robotnik’s right hand. He is very funny and a big Robotnik fanboy. He’s super happy to be working with him.
- “Tom was really enjoyable. Fun and backwoods kind of smart. He wants to prove to himself that he can make it as a big city cop”
- The film will begin showing Sonic as a baby. He’ll be saved by an owl, that’ll be sort of like his mom owl. His mom owl dies, and then Sonic will realize that he is on his own on Earth, and alone.
-There’s a scene where Sonic and Tom stop by a bar localized in the American highway path between San Francisco and Green Hills. It’s full of buff bikers, with tatoos and everything. Sonic accidentaly creates a fight in the bar.
-Robotnik has as a part of his arsenal drones, tanks, automated cars, and realistic robots.
-Sonic ends up becoming a sensation in Green Hills, and the locals begin to appreciate him, and begin to defend him.
-How the final battle ends:
The fight across the world between Sonic and Robotnik ends up back in Montana via the rings. The locals from Green Hills help by getting Robotnik’s attention. Sonic then super electro charges a spin dash, and knocks Robotnik into a ring which sends him to another planet [possibly Sonic’s World] and they technically win for now.
-The final battle begins, I believe, at this part:
And that’s preety much it. If you want to see the AMA for yourself, click here.

Bug Off (Oliver/MC)
Word Count: 1169
Genre: Fluff
Pairing(s): Oliver/MC
Warning(s): lots of mentions of bugs
Prompt: Oliver’s 5* Sizzling Summer card quotes.
A/N: This is an idea that I have had for a while and I hope you like it. I have hidden a few of Oliver’s Sizzling Summer card quotes in here. Can you spot them?
It was a hot summer day, the cicadas chirping loudly everywhere she went. She had gone into the market to look for a summer hat, a little something to keep the sun off her face. Settling her new purchase onto her head, she was about to leave the shop when she saw a corner filled with summer-related children’s toys. Intrigued, she stepped over and examined them.
A handful of long butterfly nets and bug containers lay on a shelf and she smiled as she was filled with the nostalgia of her childhood. Picking up a pair of nets, she made her way back to the register to purchase them as well.
Maybe he would like to do it with me, she thought to herself.
---
“Will you close your eyes?”
Oliver huffed, but did as she asked, holding out his hands palm side up. She had told him she had a gift for him, but it was supposed to be a surprise. A smile twitched on her lips as he began to tap his foot in impatience. She quickly opened the front door and picked up the nets that she had hidden on the porch before he had let her in, coming back inside to a visibly annoyed Oliver.
“Can’t you hurry up?” he grumbled.
She carefully set the handle of a net across his palms. Oliver immediately opened his eyes and was silent for a moment as he kept his palms open, balancing the net in his hands. He glanced up at her with a look of dismay.
“Hey, why did you hand me this butterfly net?”
“I saw them when I was out shopping the other day and thought you would like to catch some with me. There’s a lot of neat bugs out during this time of year.” She looked down at him and tried to convey her excitement, holding up her own net.
“Do you think I get excited about searching for insects?” He finally wrapped his fingers around the handle, letting his hands fall, the mesh net brushing the floor. “Geez, you can be so dumb. I’m not a kid, you know.”
“Well, yeah,” she said, deflating. “I just thought it would be fun.”
Oliver let out a long sigh before walking to the door, grabbing his hat from the stand and putting it on. “It’s way too hot. I don’t understand people that look forward to summer,” he muttered. Yanking the door open, he turned to her. “You coming?”
“Yes!”
---
“You have to come up slow behind them, Oliver,” she said in a whisper, sneaking up on a dragonfly that was settled on one of the bushes around Blanc’s yard. “And…” She made a wide swipe, the dragonfly nearly escaping, but getting trapped in her net instead. “Got it!” she yelled out happily, tilting her net so that the dragonfly was trapped inside. She brought it closer to examine it, the emerald sheen flashing in the light as it wiggled making her smile. “Come take a look!” She turned to Oliver who was standing a short distance behind her.
Oliver was breathing heavily, looking like a wilted plant in the summer heat. “I don’t get what’s what’s so fun about this,” he said, wiping at the sweat on his brow with the back of his hand. “Running around outside chasing down bugs, just to let them go again.”
She grinned, taking one last look at the dragonfly before twisting the net open, gently assisting it out and watching it fly away. “The point is to admire them. They’re still living creatures after all.”
“I’m a living creature too, you know.” Oliver limped over to the shade of a tree, flopping to the grass and throwing his hat and the butterfly net to the side. He tugged a finger at his necktie and collar, attempting to cool off. “It’s so hot.”
Frowning, she approached Oliver and pulled off her hat, holding it out towards him. No wonder he is sweating, she thought. His silk hat does nothing in helping keep the sun off his face.
Oliver glanced up at her, then her hat, then back to her. “You want to lend me your straw hat to keep cool?”
She blushed at having been seen through so easily. “Well, yeah. You look like you need it more than I do right now.”
“That’s a woman’s hat,” he grumbled, reaching out for his hat to shove it back down on his head. “I’ll keep my own, so put yours back on before you burn.” His cheeks were red and she wasn’t sure if it was from the heat or embarrassment. “I’m tired of this. Let’s go back inside.”
He refused her hand to help him get back to his feet and he left his butterfly net in the grass as he walked through the garden on his way to the door. She followed behind him, walking around the edge of the garden to avoid walking on Blanc’s carrots. Once he was inside, he threw his hat on the stand.
“Maybe I’ll make some iced tea. You’ll have some too, right?”
She set her butterfly net on the porch and went inside, setting her hat on the stand next to his. “That sounds delicious!”
---
She was on her way to visit Oliver for her weekly evening tea parties. The sun had set a short while ago and the air felt nice on the skin of her arms as she walked, the breeze smelling slightly sweet from all the blooming flowers along the road. Turning the last corner, she blinked in surprise. The usual crystal-lit lanterns weren’t hanging from the trees and sitting at the table Oliver set up at night for this event. Instead, there were jars in their place, little lights swirling inside them.
“You’re finally here,” Oliver said, looking over at her from where he was sitting at the table. “I was beginning to think you had gotten lost.”
“Oliver, what are these?” She came up to the table across from him and lifted a jar, peeking inside. Suddenly realizing what they were, she gasped. “Fireflies!”
“What else would they be?” Oliver scoffed, reaching his long arm across the table with the teapot, pouring out the chilled tea into her glass.
She sat down and carefully set the jar back on the table, watching the bugs inside as though entranced, their glowing behinds flickering as they moved. Tearing her gaze away, she looked up at Oliver’s eyes across the table. “Did you catch all of these?”
Oliver glanced to the side and cleared his throat. “That’s just dumb. There’s someone else here who gets more excited over insects than I do.”
Seeing right through him, she grinned, tears pricking at her eyes at his unspoken affection for her. “Thank you.”
“Yeah, yeah. Drink your tea before it warms up, it’s still hot out here.”
And so she did, sipping at the iced tea and watching her boyfriend’s blush in the glowing of the fireflies.

eight / american dream
uni AU co-written with @faux-styles
a story of late nights, unorthodox household plants, and a trip to Vegas that changes everything
“Need me to drop you off anywhere specific?”
“The gardening section is fine,” Savannah mumbled. She’d traded Reyna’s phone in for her own and was currently scrolling through instagram.
“Just promise me one thing,” Reyna sighed, taking a sharp right turn which earned her a glare from Sav. “Sorry,” she said sheepishly.
“Promise what?” Savannah asked warily.
“Don’t buy another cactus, you’ve killed the last three you’ve owned.”
chapter seven / story page
“How was your date?” Reyna asked, barging into the flat that morning, still in her scrubs. “Also, I need a change of clothes,” she said catching Sav’s eye.
“Didn’t you take something to change into when you left for placement last night?” Alexa asked.
“I did, but some twat in the hallway decided they were going to throw up an entire bar on me just as I was leaving,” she grumbled darkly. “So, I had to take a second shower and change back into my scrubs.”
“Gross,” Sav wrinkled her nose as she dug through her closet.
“Thanks,” Reyna said kindly, grabbing the simple pair of jeans and a random t-shirt. “But don’t think you can get out of answering the question that quickly. How was your date?”
Savannah rolled her eyes. “It was a disaster. He took me to a bar that was more grease than actual bar.”
“I know,” Reyna grinned cheekily. “I meant your other date.”
“What?”
“A little birdie told me it involved a big yellow M and a rich boy,” she collapsed onto the sofa, the grin on her face only growing with each word.
“It wasn’t a date,” she rolled her eyes. “And I know that you know that it wasn’t a date so I’m not going to let you make me squirm over it.”
“Well you’re no fun,” she muttered, pulling out her phone as it lit up with a text.
“I’m plenty fun,” Savannah poked her tongue out. “Are you good to stay here on your own?”
“You’re going somewhere?”
“Just down to the markets,” she shrugged.
“I can give you a lift if you’d like.”
“Nah, it’s fine. You look like you need some sleep,” Sav fussed. “I swear the times they give you lot should be illegal.”
“It’s fine,” Reyna waved her off. “We need to get used it for the future anyway. I’m going to be on rotation in the emergency room soon and the hours are ridiculous,” she said with a gleam in her eye.
“Let me guess, you can’t wait?” Savannah shook her head in fond exasperation.
“I like the pressure.”
“I’m sure you do,” Sav offered back. “Which is all the more reason you should stay here and nap. You can take my bed. I’m fine taking the bus, really.”
“Nah, I’m gonna head over to Louis’ in a bit anyway,” Reyna waved her phone in explanation. “I’ll just nap at his place if I need to. His bed is bloody huge.”
“How is he?” Savannah asked. “I haven’t seen him around since Harry’s party - or, well, I guess it was more Louis’ party, but you know.”
“Yeah, same,” Reyna nodded. “He’s had a whole bunch of family things going on the past week and I think he got drunk at every single one, so he’s probably still hungover. I’m going to go over there and yap in his ear until he cries.”
“Why?” she asked, exasperated. “I mean, other than torturing your best friend.”
Reyna started laughing. “He deserves it. I was chatting with that fit bearded bloke at the party when he came over and planted a sloppy kiss right on my cheek and told me how much he loved me. Scared him right off,” she huffed.
At that Savannah burst out laughing. “Wish I’d seen that.”
“You can ask Alexa all about it,” she rolled her eyes. “She witnessed the whole thing. Speaking of,” Reyna changed the subject. “She have a double shift again?”
“Nah, she’s got that next week. I can’t believe she volunteers for them,” Sav shook her head, clicking the button for the lift as they made their way out of the flat. “I don’t care how much you paid me and tipped me, I wouldn’t work more than eight hours.”
“That’s because you work in a cafe and I work in a library,” Reyna joked. “Lex works in an art gallery. Bet she meets lots of posh and proper people and not the usual chavs we deal with. God, you know this one guy actually tried to check out a book without a library card the other day? And then he had the nerve to argue with me about it being a public library.”
“Sounds like something Louis would do,” Savannah teased as they walked over to Reyna’s small Suzuki.
“Oi, Lou’s not an idiot,” she defended without hesitation.
“I know that,” Savannah laughed. “I meant it sounds like something he’d do to piss you off.”
Reyna paused, considering her words. “Yeah, I can’t argue with that,” she agreed, slipping the key into the ignition.
“Does he know you’re going to see him?”
“Should do,” she shrugged. “That was him earlier who texted me. Haven’t checked what it said yet.”
“Want me to read it to you?” Savannah offered, picking Rey’s phone up out of the cup holder as she reversed out of her parking space. She’d decided to drive this time, rather than make Alexa get up at 5am in the morning to go and get her.
“Yeah, sure,” she shrugged and Sav instantly unlocked her phone. “You need my passco…” she trailed off. “Or not,” she raised a brow.
“1234 isn’t really much of a password, Rey,” Savannah laughed lightly. “Lou says, and I quote, I’m at home, why?”
“Alright cool,” Reyna grinned, as she merged into traffic.
“You want me to text him a reply?” she asked, even though she had a feeling Reyna was going to just brush her off. She never replied to texts.
“Nah,” she waved her off. “I’ll see him soon enough.”
“Of course you will,” Savannah sighed, rolling her eyes as she dropped the phone back into the cup holder.
-
“Another houseplant?” Alexa asked incredulously from her position against the kitchen bench as Savannah awkwardly balanced the flower in one hand and kicked the front door shut with the other, arms laden with bags.
Dumping them, and her keys, onto the kitchen counter, she set the plant down gently and proceeded to stand there and admire the way the purple flowers hung delicately from their branches.
“It’s an orchid and I’m going to name him Oliver,” Savannah breathed out airily, running her hands along the pot.
Alexa quirked an eyebrow. “You’ve lost it,” she deadpanned, watching Savannah gaze almost lovingly at the plant.
“Shut up, I know what I’m doing,” she said, moving the pot towards the kitchen window where it sat, illuminated in the still-rising sun.
“Question,” Alexa began, unloading some of the groceries that Savannah had bought from the markets. “Why an orchid? Given up on cacti, have ya?”
Savannah sighed, shaking her head before climbing onto one of the stools. “Reyna banned me from buying another one. Said I’m going to be the cause of their extinction.”
“Did she really say that?” Alexa asked curiously, placing some vegetables in the fridge and bringing out a huge jug of orange juice. After a few weeks of living with Savannah, along with Reyna breathing down their necks, the girls had decided to learn how to cook homemade meals. And Alexa had to admit, it definitely saved her a lot of money.
“No,” Savannah admitted, “But it was implied.”
Alexa rolled her eyes and brought out two glasses, pouring the orange juice out before sliding one towards Savannah. She paused. “Sav…”
“Yeah?” Savannah asked, momentarily distracted by the presence - or lack thereof - of pulp in her orange juice. “This has no pulp,” she pointed out.
Sighing, Alexa took a swig from her own glass. “It was the only one they had left,” she said, “But listen here.”
Savannah looked at her friend with mild curiosity. “What’s up?”
“I’ve decided what I want for my birthday,” Alexa started off carefully, watching Savannah’s face carefully for her reaction.
“Yeah?” her friend perked up. Savannah absolutely loathed gift shopping, especially for friends who already seemed to have everything they could ever want. So if Lex was willing to give her gift ideas, she wasn’t going to protest. “What is it?"
“How would you feel if we all went on a trip?”
“A trip where?” she frowned a little, her suspicions rising at Alexa’s discomfort. “Up north? Down south?” Sav chatted, downing her glass and rinsing it quickly in the sink.
“I was thinking more… west,” Alexa replied slowly.
“Bristol?”
“Vegas.”
Savannah blinked.
“As in Las Vegas?” she confirmed, leaning back against the counter and clasping her hands behind her back to prevent herself from punching her friend in the arm.
“Yup.”
“You mean like, the City of Sin. The Las Vegas?”
“I don’t understand how I could be more clear. Yes, Vegas as in Las Vegas with the fake Eiffel Tower and the Bellagio Fountains. Las Vegas in America,” Alexa rolled her eyes, starting to get a little prickly.
“You’re not kidding.”
“I’m not.”
Savannah paused, as if thinking about how to word her next thought. “Look, Lex. I know it’s your birthday and all but-”
“Before you even continue with that, hear me out,” Alexa interrupted. “I know you’re probably freaking about how much it’ll cost, but all you’re going to need is spending money,” she glared at Sav when she looked to interrupt. “Our flights are going to be covered under my parents’ frequent flyer points so that’s not something you have to worry about, and they also agreed to pay for our suite as a birthday gift for me. The only thing you really have to worry about on top of spending money is meals and breakfast is already covered by the hotel. Also,” Lex continued when she still looked unconvinced. “I don’t think we’ll even be there for long enough for it to be too much money.”
“But-”
“I know you want to say no right now. But Sav, it’s my birthday and I really, really want you to be there. You skipped out on my 21st, you have to come to my this one.”
“I was in hospital on your 21st,” Savannah crossed her arms, even as she tried not to smile. Alexa was a lot of things, but she wasn’t very manipulative and every time she tried to be, she and Reyna found it hilarious.
“Just think about it? Please?” Alexa implored, shoulders slumping a little in defeat.
“Ok,” Savannah sighed, rolling her eyes. She knew she didn’t really need to think it through, with both flights and accommodation taken care of, there was no way she was missing the trip to Vegas. She’d pick up a few extra shifts at the cafe just to be safe, but she was sure that the savings she had in her account would be enough to cover the cost of the trip.
“Wait- ok you’ll think about it or ok you’ll come?”
“Ok, I’ll come,” Savannah grinned, moving forward to hug her friend. “You didn’t really think I’d miss out on Vegas did you?”
“Oh my god, I didn’t think you’d actually say yes so soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Alexa squealed, and Savannah couldn’t help but laugh at her friend’s reaction.
“Anything for you, Lex,” she grinned in reply. “But now I really have to get ready for work before I’m late. I’ll see you this evening and we can discuss the details!”
-
Savannah didn’t know for sure, but she was convinced that someone deep within the inner pits of hell had it out for her today. She had only been working for two out of the six hours that made up her shift, but she was about ready to dig her own grave. For some unusual reason, every single mother in London had decided it was a great day to take their demon spawn to the cafe for lunch. The amount of crying, shrieking, screaming, and overturned porridge bowls had Savannah about ready to call it quits. In fact, she was sure that if it weren’t for the suddenly upcoming Vegas trip and the meagre funds in her bank account, she would’ve jetted out of there as soon as the kids had first started to appear.
Maeve, who was working the coffees for the morning, smiled sympathetically at Savannah as she passed by with a tray stacked high with dirty dishes. It had finally started to calm down, with only five or six occupied tables in the cafe and Savannah took this opportunity to slip behind the counter for a much needed breather.
“Rough morning?” Maeve asked, finishing up a flat white for the customer waiting by the counter and handing it to him with a smile.
“Don’t even start me,” Savannah sighed, leaning her head on the counter and closing her eyes momentarily. “I feel like the world’s against me today.”
“Not to undermine your feelings or whatever, Sav,” Maeve grinned, waving a dishtowel at a pestering fly that had been bothering her all morning, “but you say that every time we have a busy day.”
“Yeah, but this time I mean it,” Savannah insisted. “Did you see how many little monsters were out there? God, remind me to never have one of those.”
“You mean children?” Maeve smirked, used to her friend’s antics.
“Those were not children,” Savannah shook her head dramatically. “Those were mini satans. I swear one of them looked me in the eye as they spilled a perfectly decent plate of porridge!”
“That’s what children do, Sav,” Maeve sighed, leaning back against the counter she was manning.
“Ruin lives?” Savannah asked, making her friend outright laugh at her.
“Make messes.”
“That’s what I just said, innit?” Sav joked.
“Honestly, sometimes I worry about you,” Maeve shook her head, glancing over her shoulder as the cafe door chimed, only to quickly turn back when she saw it was just one of the children messing around. “So anyway,” she changed the subject, “wanna tell me what the real reason is for the sudden stick up your arse?”
“Vegas,” Sav sighed.
“Vegas? What?” Maeve asked, bewildered. “I feel like it’s my job to point out that Vegas sounds like the complete opposite to having a stick up ya bum.”
“Yeah for people who can afford it.”
“So save up.”
“No, no, it’s not like that...it’s more...it’s hard to explain,” Sav fumbled, trying to formulate a proper sentence. “I have enough money for it. But only because of frequent flyer points and loving parents and-”
“Woah, hold up. Start from the beginning, would ya?”
“Ok so,” Savannah huffed out a breath. “Lex’s birthday is coming up and she wants to go to Vegas and I was all for it - obviously,” at her friend’s pointed look, she corrected herself. “Fine so I was a little reluctant, but I came around. Except now I’m having doubts again because it’s all happening so suddenly and I’m poor to the point where if it wasn’t for Alexa, I’d be bunking with my mum, so while she and Rey can literally go out and buy a house tomorrow -”
“Doubt it, but go on,” Maeve interrupted.
“-I can barely buy a t-shirt without wondering if I could maybe find the same one online for cheaper. And I want to try and explain that to them, but at the same time it’s her birthday and I don’t want to make her feel guilty for me being not as wealthy as them, which is the understatement of the century, by the way. So, I’m stuck working here cleaning up after Satan’s footmen trying to think of a gift I can get her for using up her parents’ frequent flyers, to coattail my way with them to Vegas,” she finished.
“First off, you really have to stop calling kids that. Secondly, there’s no way Lex cares about the gift you get her as long as it has some sentiment to it,” here she smacked Sav on the head, “and thirdly, take that bloody stick out of your bum and let your friends do something nice for you.”
“But -”
“No, shut up and lighten up, Sav. Ever since I’ve met you, you do this thing where you refuse to let anyone help you out - especially if they come from a privileged background.”
“I do not,” Sav said, a little outraged.
“You so do,” Maeve laughed lightly. “I don’t know why, but it’s almost like you’re trying to prove yourself worthy or something. You’re not Thor, Sav. You don’t have the fate of a realm resting on your shoulders - live and let live, I say.”
“I have no clue what you just said,” Savannah pointed out, her animosity deflating a little.
Maeve rolled her eyes. “Just let your friends buy you your way to Vegas. It’s what friends do, love. They help each other out when they can do something for you that you can’t do for yourself. Besides, this way it means you’ll have more money for alcohol.”
“You know,” Savannah chuckled, “you can go from ‘wise and all knowing’ to ‘a booze guzzling chav’ real quick.”
“It’s part of my charm,” Maeve winked, turning to face the counter, as the cafe bell rang - this time with an actual customer.
“I don’t doubt it,” Sav called back as she made her way out to take their order.
-
“I come!” a loud voice spoke up from down the hallway, the front door slamming shut almost immediately after, “bearing gifts!”
Savannah rolled her eyes before picking herself off the floor where she had been sat for a solid half hour after work and heading down towards the living room. “Hey Louis,” she greeted, walking up to him.
Louis grinned, setting the two six-packs of beer down on the counter before engulfing Savannah in a bone-crushing hug. “Hey sweetie,” he smiled. “Long time no see. You smell like bacon.”
“How are you?” she asked, eyes flicking between the alcohol on the table and Oliver sitting innocently just a few centimetres away from it. The second part of his greeting, she decided to completely ignore.
“Oh, I’m just peachy thanks!” another voice spoke up from the entranceway. Savannah glanced up curiously to see Reyna entering the space with five bags of take-out, all balanced precariously in her arms. “Can someone please take this away from me before I ‘accidentally’ drop it all on the floor,” she said through gritted teeth, glaring pointedly at Louis.
“Someone put you two in charge of the food, I see,” Alexa stated, walking in just as Louis walked over to help Reyna with the bags.
“I have a question,” Savannah perked up. “What’s the occasion?” she asked once everyone looked towards her.
“No occasion,” Reyna said. “But since we haven’t seen the boys in almost a week, we thought it would be nice to have a movie night.”
“And it had to be at our flat?”
“I volunteered us, actually,” Lex said sheepishly. “It was only fair,” she defended. “We’re always at Harry’s or Zayn’s, Louis’ place I wouldn’t step foot in unless it’s been bleached out and Reyna’s is too small for all of us to be comfortable,” she shrugged. “I’m going to pop outside for a second,” she said to no one in particular before leaving.
“Fine I guess,” Savannah muttered, nudging the beers that Louis had brought to glance at the label, blanching slightly as she read the name. “You guys got the cheap beer,” she whined, pouting slightly. “It tastes like shit.”
“Hey!” Louis warned her, pointing a finger in her face. “Any alcohol is good alcohol.”
“What’s the point of having rich friends if they won’t buy the good stuff?” Savannah rolled her eyes, walking over to pull the bottles from the packaging and stacking them in the fridge as she did so.
“So what are you doing?” Reyna asked, grabbing an apple from the fruit basket and finally noticing the plant.
Savannah held her breath.
“What is this?” she asked slowly, as if afraid of the answer. From beside her, Louis guffawed. Having been Reyna’s best friend basically his entire life, he was accustomed to hearing the gruesome tales of the demise of Sav’s household plants.
“Oliver,” Savannah shrugged.
“Of course you’ve already named him,” Reyna sighed, looking at her friend exasperatedly. “I thought I told you no more plants.”
“No,” Savannah was quick to defend herself, “You didn’t. You said cacti in particular. Not orchids. Isn’t he beautiful?” she said, gazing at her plant adoringly.
“She’s lost it,” Louis whisper-shouted in Reyna’s ear, making sure that Savannah heard it.
Savannah glared at him.
“You have a problem,” Reyna concluded after a brief moment of silence. “I should call Dr. Phil. I can see it already. ‘Woman obsessed with killing household plants’. It’ll go viral. We’ll make a meme out of it and everything.”
“Hey!” Savannah exclaimed, “I’m not obsessed with killing them! I just… happen to forget about them after a while.”
Louis raised an eyebrow, hesitating a moment before speaking up. “Please don’t ever have children.”
“I’ll make a great mother,” Savannah said haughtily, carefully picking Oliver up and moving him away from Louis - who was already nursing a beer - and Reyna who was smirking over at her, a knowing glint in her eyes. “Go ahead and make your bets,” Savannah sighed. “But this time is different. Oliver will survive, you’ll see.”
“Bet he won’t make it to the end of next month,” Louis was quick to rise to the bait.
“Nah,” Reyna shook her head. “Reckon he might last a little longer than that.”
“Thank you!” Savannah grinned triumphantly.
“Alexa has quite the green thumb,” she continued.
“Screw you,” Savannah glared while Louis choked on his drink beside Reyna. “I don’t need Lex’s help to raise Oli, you’ll see,” she walked away from the two, taking Oliver with her. She intended to hide him somewhere where none of the others could find him.
She’d just walked back into the kitchen when the front door was pushed open by Alexa who’d gone downstairs to grab the mail.
“I found a couple of strays sitting around outside, thought I’d invite them in,” she smiled, moving aside to reveal Zayn and Harry. “They said no one would buzz them in?” she asked quizzically.
“They didn’t know the password,” Louis shrugged, making Alexa quirk a brow and stare expectantly over at Savannah.
“I thought I told you to keep an eye on the place,” she said.
“I was literally gone for like three seconds showing Oli to my room. I don’t even know how he managed to get to the intercom!” Sav was both impressed and a little scared at how crafty Louis was. “Did you help him?”
“Hey, leave me out of this,” Reyna held her hands up in surrender. “It was all Louis.”
“And you didn’t stop him?”
“It was funny,” Reyna shrugged. “Besides, they’re not frozen to death. Which is a shame, bet an ice sculpture or two would really liven the place up a bit,” she mused, completely disregarding Harry, Zayn and Alexa’s presence.
“I see it,” Zayn declared, turning to Lex. “I finally see it. She’s exactly like Louis, but a girl.”
“Oi!” Reyna glared at him, fighting off a smile. “I’m funnier than him. And better looking,” she added.
“That’s debatable,” Louis snorted, playing with the bottle opener attached to his keys.
“Ok then, before this gets any more underway, I’m just going to take a quick shower considering Louis said I smelled like a pig,” Savannah announced to the room.
“It’s for your own good, sweetie,” was all he said as she disappeared down the hall.
-
“Ok,” Harry started, turning to face Savannah while the others listened on patiently. “Blackjack is really really simple. I don’t understand why you haven’t played it yet, I mean, what rock have you been under your whole life?”
“Calm down, Styles,” she rolled her eyes. “Not everyone here has a gambling problem.”
Harry pretended to clutch his heart in pain. “You wound me, Simba.”
Everyone around the table, almost in unison, arched an eyebrow in amusement. Savannah felt a blush creep up her cheeks as she rolled her eyes at Reyna and Alexa who were grinning widely. Harry had been absolutely outraged upon learning that none of the girls at the table knew how to play proper blackjack and so had run to the closest open shop to find a deck of playing cards. Twenty minutes later, he was back with a mission in mind.
“Ok enough with the banter, you two. Explain the game so we can get on with it!” Niall urged, taking a swig of his beer.
Harry cleared his throat. “Ok. Basically, you get dealt two cards right, one facing down and the other facing up. Same with the dealer. And then you flip your card. And then you add up the two card values - if it’s a picture card, then it’s value is 10. If it’s a number card, then it’s value is whatever it is. And finally, if you get dealt an Ace, you can either choose for it to be either an 11 or a one. When you add up the two numbers, you can either choose to hit or stand. The whole idea of this is to reach as close to 21 as possible. So you can either hit and get dealt another card or you can keep the value of your two cards the same. If you go over 21, you’ve automatically lost,” he looked up at Savannah, then to Alexa and Reyna. “You following?”
“Yeah,” they said in unison. Harry talked at a pace befit for toddlers to understand, which ended up being a positive in this type of situation.
“Great, good. Say you’ve reached 19 with your cards and you choose to stand. The dealer then flips over his card. If it’s 16 or under, he automatically has to flip another. If he reaches 21, he’s won. If he’s gone over, everyone who got under 21 wins. However, when he flips and it’s 17 or over, he has to stand. So if he flips and gets 18, and you’ve got 19, then you’ve won the hand.”
“Okay,” Savannah nodded, trying to wrap her head around the whole concept of the game. Everyone else had seemingly started to lose interest and had now started up a conversation between themselves. “Okay wait, so,” Savannah said a concentrated furrow between her brows as she tried to make proper sense of what Harry was saying. “If you stand, do you just stay that way until everyone else also stands?”
“Yep,” Harry answered. “You’re all playing against the dealer so he has to wait until everyone stands before he can flip his card. So no cheating.”
“Oh, ok. So basically, you have to get your cards to 21 and every time you hit you get another card and you have to try and get as close to 21 without going over. If you stand you just sit there until everyone else stands as well and then the dealer does his thing and ta-da,” she waved her hands around as she finished.
“In layman’s terms, yeah.”
“Sweet, I think I’ve got it,” she grinned.
“Finally,” Louis said, turning back around to face the group and switching the TV off. “May the odds be ever in your favour,” he said mockingly.
-
“Ok, so the odds are definitely not in your favour tonight,” Louis deadpanned as Savannah lost another round.
“Fuck off, Louis. Harry’s obviously cheating,” Savannah glared down at her drink.
“You’re lucky we’re not playing for actual money,” Reyna shook her head sadly. “You’d be so broke you’d be living off ramen noodles for the next few months.”
“I’m already living off ramen noodles for the next few months because of this stupid bloody trip to Vegas,” Savannah cursed, frustration rolling off of her in waves.
“Oi,” Alexa cut in. “Don’t diss Vegas.”
“Yeah,” Niall added. “It’s not Vegas’ fault yer shit.”
Savannah lifted her gaze to shoot him a withering glare dangerous enough that Niall’s eyes widened and he shifted away from her slightly. “Think I’m going to get another drink,” he said to no one in particular before disappearing from sight.
“What trip to Vegas are we talking about here?” Louis perked up.
“You know I may be bad at blackjack, but I would annihilate you all in a game of poker,” Savannah defended, ignoring Louis while gathering up the cards on the table and handing them over to Harry to shuffle.
“Okay then,” he smirked, twisting the deck in his abnormally large hands. “I’ll take you up on that challenge. Texas hold’em or five-card?”
“Five-card.”
“In that case, I’m out,” Reyna said quickly, not liking the fact that she was the weakest link when it came to poker.
“Me too,” Alexa agreed, getting up and following Reyna into the kitchen.
“Ok, in that case, I’m out too. Now can someone answer my question?” Louis could be heard asking as he also disappeared from view. “What Vegas trip is this?”
Harry and Savannah exchanged a look as Zayn also left the circle wordlessly, not even bothering to come up with an excuse. Shrugging, Harry carefully shuffled the deck, dealing out five cards to Savannah and the same to him. When done, he placed the rest of the deck on the side and glanced up at her, his elbows on his knees and his fingers placed strategically under his chin.
“So, Vegas, huh?” he tried to distract Sav from her game.
“It’s for Lex’s birthday,” she shrugged. “And don’t think you can play me into giving something away,” she narrowed her eyes at him. “You’re in my domain now,” she smirked at him.
“I’m just being social,” Harry blinked at her innocently. “Who’s going on the trip?” he asked.
“Dunno,” she shrugged, “we haven’t really discussed the details yet. We’ll probably do that tonight in the groupchat.”
“You have a groupchat?”
“You don’t?” Sav asked astonished when Harry just shook his head. “Don’t worry, I’m sure Louis will fix that soon enough. He’s always starting new groups. I’m surprise he hasn’t started one with all of us already.”
Harry snorted. “If I know Louis, and I do, unfortunately, chances are he’s going to start one tonight demanding we all go to Vegas.”
“I have the perfect name if he does,” she lit up with excitement.
“I’m scared to ask…”
“The Rat Pack,” she announced proudly. “Now can we please play?”
“Fine fine,” Harry sighed, taking a good, long look at his cards. “Prepare to be annihilated.”

50 and an Olive Garden gift card with an unknown balance. This is gonna be the first and last exception of the non negotiable deal.
I’ve lost my laptop. This is, by far, one of the worst breaks I’ve had. I mean, I know I said that last time, but I wasn’t missing my laptop then.
Are there any exorcists out there who are willing to do a job for 3200 pesos (or 50 USD) or under and can get to the netherworld by tomorrow?

Raise Review: Use Raise to Buy Discounted Gift Cards and Save Money
Do you have partially used gift cards sitting around that you don’t plan to use?
Maybe someone gifted you a baby store gift card, but you don’t have kids, or you’ve gone gluten-free and won’t use the rest of your Olive Garden gift card. Well, you might be able to sell your gift cards at a discount to earn some extra cash.
Additionally, if you plan to make a purchase and can’t find a discount, you might be able to buy a gift card at a discount to help you cover the cost. The website Raise allows users to both buy and sell gift cards. Therefore, you can use the website to earn cash or to save money on purchases.
What is Raise?
Raise is an online marketplace that allows users to buy and sell gift cards at a discount. The e-commerce platform allows third-party sellers to sell new or used gift cards via their marketplace alongside Raise’s other regular offerings
How Does Raise Work?
Raise acts as the middleman between buyers and sellers to help people earn cash for their gift cards. Compared to other ways to sell items online for cash, Raise has relatively low overhead and is simple to use.
When users sign up for the platform, they can choose to buy or sell a gift card. When shopping on the platform, you might see digital and physical gift cards at a discount between 1% and 30%. Therefore, you can save a lot of money when purchasing a gift card on Raise.
For example, let’s say you want to buy something on Amazon. You can use Raise to purchase a $25 Amazon gift card for $20. You could then stack your savings by using cashback apps or discount codes to purchase items on Amazon that cost $25 or more and only pay $20. If you use this method for larger purchases, your savings can really stack up!
Sellers are charged a $1 fee to list a physical card in the marketplace. When someone buys the card, the company deducts a 15% commission before paying the seller. Therefore, if you choose to list a $25 Amazon gift card and it sells for $20, you will receive $16 for your gift card. While you won’t earn the amount that your gift card is worthwhile using Raise, it is an easy platform to use and is designed specifically for gift cards. This helps sellers to sell their gift cards quickly.
Is Raise Legit?
Raise is a legitimate company. Not only is the website cleaner and more user friendly than its competitors it also offers a 1-year money-back guarantee on any gift cards that users purchase that are not active, have an inaccurate balance, or are otherwise different than described in the listing. This guarantee includes a refund guarantee if you can prove that the gift cards hold no balance.
How to Use Raise
Raise is relatively simple to use for both buyers and sellers. The first step to buying or selling on Raise is to create an account. Creating an account is free, and you can begin browsing immediately after signing up. From there, you will decide whether you want to buy or sell gift cards.
Sell Gift Cards
If you want to make money using Raise, then you will want to sell gift cards. After creating an account, you will click ‘sell gift cards’ in the top navigation bar. This will take you to the page on which you can create a listing. You will be prompted to enter the store name of the card you plan to sell. Then, select ‘get started’.
You will need the information from the physical or digital gift card to continue. You will be prompted to enter the number on the back of the card or other serial numbers, plus a PIN and any additional information. You will also need to provide the balance of the gift card before moving forward.
Once you have input all the information on your card, you will be asked to review the listing. You will need to enter the amount available on the gift card, and then will be able to set the price. The price depends on the competition. For example, if you are the only person selling a Walmart gift card, you likely will not need to sell it at much of a discount and therefore can collect most of the value of the card. However, if lots of people are selling Walmart cards at 5% discounts, you might want to edge out the competition by selling the gift card at a 6% discount.
Your card will remain on the website until it sells. Raise will tell you what other gift cards are selling for when you list your card to help you price it accordingly.
Buy Gift Cards
If you’d rather buy gift cards to help you save money on purchases, then you can navigate to ‘buy gift cards’ on the raise.com website. Then, you can enter the name of the store for which you would like to buy a gift card. The name of the store will typically auto-populate, making it easier to sift through vendors.
Then, you will see all the gift cards that are available for that store. You can filter the results by the highest discount to the lowest, or you can filter by balance if you only need a specific dollar amount. Once you’ve found the gift card you would like to buy, you can click ‘buy now’. This will add the card to your cart. You can continue to shop for gift cards or go to ‘review and checkout’ if you are finished shopping.
To complete the purchase, you will enter your payment details. You may opt to save them for your next purchase as well. If you purchased a physical gift card, it will be mailed to you. If you purchased a digital gift card, it will be stored in your Raise account as well as sent to your email inbox. You will be able to start using it immediately.
It is important to note that if you add an item to your cart and wait more than a few minutes to complete the purchase, it will automatically go back to the sales page and be available for others to purchase. This helps to prevent cards from taking a long time to sell and gives others a chance to purchase the cards.
If you don’t find the card or discount that you are looking for, you can choose to sign up for email alerts. You can get alerts for specific stores or create a favorites list. This will help you to find great deals in the future.
Should I Use Raise?
Raise is a legitimate platform and thousands of people have bought and sold on its marketplace. However, it is up to you to decide if the platform is right for you. Here are a few pros and cons to consider.
Pros
There are plenty of great reasons to use Raise both as a buyer and a seller of gift cards.
The website and app are free and easy to use
Raise has a reliable guarantee program that protects buyers
It can be a great way to save money when making a purchase
Raise’s referral program allows users to earn a $5 credit toward future gift card purchases
Cons
While the website does have our stamp of approval, there are a few setbacks to using Raise.
Not all cards that you purchase can be used both online and in-store. While this is communicated in each listing, it can confuse some people.
There is no return policy, but buyers can choose to resell gift cards if they choose. They will, however, be charged a fee when they resell.
Some competitors charge less than Raise’s 15% selling fee. This fee can cut into profits if you are selling on Raise.
The Bottom Line
If you want to sell your gift cards to make some extra cash, then Raise is a reliable platform. While you will only earn 85% of what the card is worth, it is free money if you do not plan to use the gift card. Alternatively, if you are trying to save money on a purchase, it might make a lot of sense for you to purchase a gift card at a discount. Raise allows both buyers and sellers to make the most of unused gift cards.
If you decide that selling gift cards online isn’t your move, there are plenty of other ways that you can earn cash online. You may want to look in to selling other items that you have around the house or think about making money using your smartphone. If you are looking for other ways to save money when buying online, you can earn free PayPal money or find ways to earn free Amazon gift cards.
