Even more in the older kidnap fam fic
At Amon Ereb, accommodations for the twins do get marginally more comfortable.
It is, after all, a proper fortress complete with prison cells. All the Feanorian fortresses have them; for criminals, or captured orcs they want to interrogate, or for the rare occasions the sons of Feanor were aware they needed to be stopped.
The cells have solid stone walls and floor, with metal gratings for doors, so the prisoners can't escape by setting a fire or digging.
Some of the cells are missing doors, where the metal bars were taken down and reforged into armor or weapons, but there are still several in good shape.
And the Feanorians are putting both princes in one cell, anyway. It will be easier to guard one place than two.
Elrond and Elros are very agreeable to sharing a cell, rather than being put at opposite ends of the dungeon, with who knows how many days or weeks before they see each other again. And it's not like they'd have actual privacy with their own cells, there's going to be a guard outside constantly.
They are marched down by a half dozen guards, with their arms tied. Once Elros is untied, he has to stand his facing the wall opposite the door before the guards will bring Elrond forward and untie him.
Elros kind of wants to laugh at how intimidating he and his twin apparently are, to warrant this hassle, but it's not funny with swords inches from his brother.
Still, eventually all the guards leave, except for one who locks the door and stands across the hallway.
The cell has a bed, a chamber pot, a bucket of fresh water, and a bed roll designed for camping. There's room for one person to pace, if the other sits on the bed.
Elrond and Elros can talk to each other. Not unobserved, but without a sharp deadline. Better than since they left Sirion.
After reassuring each other that they have no serious injuries, they compare their experiences of the battle, particularly the end.
Elrond and Elros conclude that Elwing is dead, but the Valar sent an eagle (or perhaps another bird, Elrond is unsure of the species he saw) to retrieve the Silmaril.
The Valar have sent eagles to help the house of Fingolfin twice before, and retrieving Fingolfin's body was a lesser favor than saving Maedhros's life (as evil as he is). It's reasonable that the third aid from eagles would be even smaller, not saving the queen's body but saving only her jewel from her enemies.
Elros and Elrond are still confident that it's better than the Feanorians having the Silmaril, though. Who knows what evil they would be able to accomplish with its light?
They are very sad though that their mother is dead. And it's been over a year since Earendil left on his latest voyage, so he's probably dead too, though Elwing hadn't admitted it where they could hear.
That makes Elros king of Sirion, heir to Gondolin and Doriath. Elrond kisses his brother's hand and pledges his fealty.
In practical terms though, Elros and Elrond aren't sure this changes the situation at all. Sure, Elros is king - of a people he can't reach.
They're still prisoners, and there is no Silmaril to trade them for - though of course they are brave warriors who would rather die than give such a holy object over to the evil Feanorians.
They seem to be just here as hostages, so Gil-Galad doesn't sack Amon Ereb, and because the Feanorians still have enough pretense at honor not to kill enemies who surrendered.
The first of those conditions has no end date, and the second only does if they're unlucky. Elros and Elrond will be prisoners until they learn if peredhel can die of old age.
Meanwhile: Maedhros has commanded the guards to keep a watch on the cell, feed the prisoners from the same food as the soldiers, and stop them from escaping. Preferably non-lethally, but if the prisoners reach the courtyard go ahead and shoot them.
He's taken a report from the seneschal, confirming nothing has changed at the castle in his absence.
Maedhros has made his own report of names of the dead, so their work can be redistributed among the living. He's passed on news of Elwing's escape with the jewel, and the signs of orcs they saw on their way. No one pursued the army from Sirion though, which is good.
Maedhros does all the tasks that need to be done to settle his army back in the castle, or at least all that can't wait a day.
He then locks himself in his room to cry over his dead little brother.
Pretty soon it turns to screaming. Wordless cries of pain, insults to the Valar and Eru, curses to the idiocy of child queens.
It's audible outside his room, but he doesn't care. Let them think him mad, being sane has never won him a battle. (Nirnaeth Doriath Sirion, never achieving his goals, and always those he loves dying for him.)
The soldiers are uneasy, but tell each other loudly that it's just his nightmares. Lord Maedhros is sane while awake, and none of them will judge for troubled sleep. Definitely that.
From the prison cell, all that can be heard is the occasional scream. Elrond and Elros thought they were the only captives, but is someone being tortured?
Maglor sleeps for a day straight on arriving at Amon Ereb. He's the best rider left, and switched between advance scouting and Singing their trail cold as needed for the whole journey. It's not literally true that he hasn't slept since Sirion, but he hasn't been fully rested since they marched out from Amon Ereb.
He's still the first one to approach the twins for conversation though, late the next evening.
He's done diplomacy with Fingolfin after leaving him to die, how much worse can it be?
(Okay, he didn't actually get any concessions out of Fingolfin. And he gave up his entire city. But no one died! And people unassociated with the royal family were exchanging small items and food with each other! He's sure it would have taken less than a century to create an actual formal relationship.)

Elrond headcanons I’ve made that keep me up at night:
i. Elros was the older twin by 2 minutes.
Maedhros and Maglor discerned as such, being brothers themselves, and what with the way the little twins reacted whenever they got into trouble and mischief.
Elrond might have been the more stubborn between the two, yes, but Elros was the courageous one; some innate elder-brother instinct Maglor could recognise Maedhros in: first to face the burden of punishment and last to lay it down.
Elrond always dreaded those mere minutes, because it meant he was eternally 2-minutes behind Elros, and because it lent his brother a leverage against him throughout the years they endured growing up together. But he’d only truly dreaded it the most, years after, when Elros had chosen the mortal path.
He had counted the 2 minutes after Elros had died, and then wept as he placed a kiss on his forehead; because, after all these years:
“At last, Elros, my dear brother, I have finally caught up to you.”
ii. Elrond untintentionally made Círdan (the wisest, stalwart, and most steadily composed of all living Elves) weep full tears over a poorly folded Leaf-boat.
This was at the atelier, in the aftermath of High King Gil-Galad’s funeral rites, where they talked and talked until the sun went down the horizon. Elrond could hardly sit still— an endearingly Mannish trait, Círdan learned early on— and that’s how the Shipwright ended up teaching the Herald how to fold boats out of a banana leaf.
“Oh, dear,” it had started on the first attempt, with Elrond showing him the sad-excuse of a boat, fraying in its green edges, “Show me again, Master Círdan, how do you do it! My craft will surely sail to no shore.”
Then Círdan laughed, because “Indeed, surely, that will hardly survive a ripple, Elrond,” and then his eyes welled with tears, and he bent his head down, and suddenly he found himself crying, unable to stop at all.
He hadn’t wept this hard in Ages.
“Ah, come now, let me show you,” he sniffled, hands trembling as he meticulously corrected the little flaws of the boat. “Forgive me. Artanáro— Ereinion— I remember teaching him too, when he was but knee-high and knew naught but how to scatter sunshine wherever he went. Your boat looks as pitiful as his first try! And, why, for a moment, I—”
He didn’t continue, because there was no need to.
“Oh, I miss him already, Elrond. How I miss him!” he’d cried. “My dear Ereinion. My darling, dearest boy.”
iii. When at last Legolas finally completed his ship and left with Gimli from Edhellond, crossing the Bay of Belfalas— they had come across a lone, folded leaf boat, bright green and drifting unmoored across the silver crests and falls of Belegaer.
Gimli peered portside (while standing on a box) to point it out. “See there, Legolas! That’s one of them Elven leaf boats, aye? How long has it wandered adrift, you reckon?”
“Long indeed!” Legolas smiled. “Elven leaves are sturdy and crafted to endure. This one was set purposely upon these waters to sail, it seems.”
“A tribute,” the Dwarf mused, eyeing the blown-out candle cradled in its heart. “This far out?”
The elf gazed keenly, South-west upon the distant blue horizon. “Why, perhaps, to the memory of the great star-lit isle of Númenor.”

Okay, the pjo show is here and it got me thinking of demi-god Elrond and Elros kidnap fam, but then who is the godly parent, like
Eareandil who is a mariner and leaves when Elrond and Elros are little leaving them and their mom alone
or Maglor, associated more tangentially with water, but more bitter feelings to be explored

Stolen
pairing: grid x wolff reader
summary: the grid just can’t help but steal you any time you show up to a race, you just want to pass your classes
a/n: short blurb! thanks for the request, sorry it took so long 🫶
requests open masterlist
—————
“Pup, come look at this,” Lando drags you away from the Mercedes garage, where you just sat down.
“Lando, I just got here. Can’t I relax on my day off?” you pout. Every time you come to the track, someone is stealing you from your parents. That’s what happens when you are raised on the track.
“Ah, Miss Wolff, how is school going,” Zak asks when Lando drags you in.
“It’s going. Today is my day off, I was going to spend it with my parents,” you give Lando a pointed look.
“Quit complaining, come on,” Zak shakes his head as Lando drags you away.
“What did you want to show me?” you sigh as Lando leads you to his drivers room.
“My new line, a hoodie for you,” Lando hands you a soft hoodie.
“Thank you, but you couldn’t bring it to me?” you frown.
“But then I wouldn’t be able to hang out with you,” he pouts.
“You want to hang out with a teenager? I appreciate your friendship Lando, but I need to study for my exams and it’s hard to do that when everyone steals me from the garage,” you tell him, hoping he understands since he finished school while racing.
“I do, you are fun. I also get that you have to study, even if it is your day off school. I’ll see you later?” Lando says, hugging you.
“Yeah,” you hug him back before going back to Mercedes. On the way back you get stolen by Logan, Zhou, Fred, and Christian, meaning you lost an hour of study time.
“Alright Christian, give me my daughter back,” Toto shakes his head when he finds you in the Red Bull garage after your SOS text.
“Bye Uncle Christian,” you give him a little salute as you walk out with your dad.
“I can send out a message asking everyone to stop kidnapping you,” Toto suggests, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“No, don’t, it makes them so happy,” you chuckle, even if you are a little annoyed. You grew up in the paddock and loved everyone here.
“Whatever you say. Why don’t you use my office to study? Maybe that will help,” he says, leading you to the motorhome.
“She can use my driver room, no one will look for her there,” George chimes in. He and Lewis will always be your favorite current drivers, even if they are trying to set you up with Kimi or Ollie. George’s idea works, and you get a couple quality hours to do your work.
“Sweetheart, it’s time for George to get ready for the practice session,” your mom pops in as you are putting your books away.
“Thank you, Georgie,” you hug the driver who hugs you back.
“Carmen is waiting for you with a coffee,” George winks, stepping into his room. Your mom takes you to hospitality where you find Carmen waiting.
“You are the best older sister ever,” you say, taking the iced coffee from her.
“I figured you needed something after the boys bothered you all day,” she laughs. The two of you watch the practice with your mom, watching the boys pull out a P3 and P4 for FP1.
“That’s it, Kid, you are staying here all weekend and every race,” Lewis tells you once he’s back in the garage. You are his good luck charm, he’s called you that since you were little.

lol jellyfish reader acting like a jellyfish from SpongeBob to the bat fam that would be epic I wonder how super fam would react to jellyfish reader, especially Kara
yes reader would be a menace especially to dick. your weaving and side steeping him any chance you get. the superfam finds you adorable. if they were to kidnap you Clark would have asked Bruce for help to make sure you were comfortable and safe in the house. Clark would be very nervous cause he doesn't want to hurt you with his strength. plus he doesn't mind your stingers at all. they don't hurt him, it took him a while to get use to how you eat, constantly wants you to wash your hair after every meal, louis keeps him from making you do that, he doesn't need to watch you sleep since he hears your breaths and heart beat constantly so he knows your safe. conner is a little nervous around you but other then that he treats you normally, but he does stare at you a lot, watching you eat and sleep, as if he is trying to see what makes you tick. . louis is fascinated by you, she likes patting your head and sometimes treats your little head like a stress toy like Jason , louis doesn't mind how you eat , does have to stop Clark from pushing you into the bathroom after every meal, she doesn't watch you sleep since she is content that you are she where you are, she only got stung once, she then she's learned how to work around your stingers. Jon's just really excited, he has a older sibling, other than conner, since he has Clark's super strength he has to be careful (told be his father) constantly since he is still young, finds how you eat cool unlike his dad who was weirded out at first. Jon can still get stung but it doesn't hurt him badly since he has part of his fathers invincibility. like his dad he doesn't need to watch you sleep, using his powers just like dad, to keep you safe and sound.

Double Jason AU?
Jason, fresh after the whole "2 Jokers/Bruce practically lobotomizing him" is sent back in time to before he made himself known to Batman. He decides that since a reguler crimelord gets beat up less by Bats then his failure Robin, Jason keeps his identity secret. But this presents a problem:
Jason worries that Bruce will find out that his coffin is empty, and will come looking. Talia offers an unusual solution: A cloned 15-year-old body to put back in. Exept that Jason is not one to stay down & the body wakes up.
Talia is worried, but Jason is a quick thinker; and has Talia present the clone as the original Jason, claiming she revived him as a gift to her beloved. Bruce is extatic and let's him be Robin again. Tim initially decides to step down, but later steps back in as Black Bird, unable to say goodbye to the vigilante life. (Little Jason is Jaylad for easier reading)
It's around this time that Red Hood becomes known in Gotham. Batman only knows him as a new contender in Gothams underworld, but the guy isn't a big problem (since Jason didn't do his whole "choose me or Joker" plan he managed to keep low on Batman's radar, tho still on it). Sometimes he helps the Bats out, even jokes a bit with the younger heroes but stays far away from Batman.
Then Joker decides that he can hurt Batman again by actually killing Robin (there is no way he's letting that birdie live, not when Batman got so deliciously violent after being "nearly" killed) and kidnaps Jaylad. The only reason the boy lived? Because Red Hood saved him and beat the Joker to death, Batman had to save him with the Lazarus Pit in the Batcave. Nightwing & Blackbird are gratefull, but Bats is furious that Red Hood killed and attacks him. In the fight, Red Hood loses his helmet and Bruce recognizes him. He looks a bit older, has some scars, a white streak & green tinted eyes, but that is definitly Jason.
Jason, not wanting to be "the failure Robin" again, lies that he himself is a clone, a testrun of the aging process for "a different project". Bruce asks what project & knowing he shouldn't tell Bruce about Damian yet, Jason admits to a thought that had been haunting him since Jaylad woke up: What would Bruce do if things had played out differently at the warehouse. It works, and while not coming out unscathed, Jason escapes. Bruce believes Jason is the evil clone, and Jaylad is the good original.
Oddly enough, a few weeks later Red Hood gets a visitor. It's Robin. He at first wants to fight Jason to "save" him, but realises that Jason has no intention of that. Evil clones don't usually offer pancakes. They like the same stuff, and slowly develop this odd big/little brother dynamic. Big J & Little J manage to keep it a secret for a while, until Tim finds out. He was curious where Jaylad snuck off to & followed him.
Honsetly thats it so far, not sure where to take this from here. Jason still became the Outlaws, and now there is a magic Robin again. How will Damian react & will the fam ever find out that the Red Hood is the original? How will they react when they realize Jason rather stayed dead then become part if the family again?

Why I can't take TMA seriously
I don't think I've written about this yet, so here it goes
So, I love TMA so much, I really do,
but I truly cannot think of anything else to do with it anymore because I just keep thinking -
If I had a nickle for everyone time I've heard of someone being nonconsensually lotioned, I'd have two nickels!
Because - listen - one of my dad's big phobias is lotion/lotion-like products because when he was little his older brothers used to tie him to a chair and slather him in their mom's rose scented lotion
(no, I have no idea why, that's just how the fam is, plus they were like 9 years older than him.... Actually this still makes sense for one of them)
And now, here comes Jon "Plz kidnap me" Sims, WHO GETS SLATHERED WITH LOTION and now not only can I never get my dad to listen to TMA because he literally shivers at the word lotion,
but now I burst out laughing because seriously, of all the trauma a member of my family could have shared with a TMA character, it's the most bonkers one.

Can I ask a platonic fam oneshot about Velvet and Veneer with a lil siblings that does folkloric dance?
Im sorry I just find funny the idea of a kid reader doing la danza de los machetes when they big siblings are super famous 😭
But any folkloric dance it's okay lmao
You can ignore this request dw, please drink water and rest all you need, virtual hugs 🫂🫂
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Velvet & Venneer’s Lil sibling who does folkloric
Pairings: Venner and Velvet X Reader (Platonically)
Warnings: Swearing, Crimp abuse, Fluff
A/N: This one is fun to write since I didn't know what folkloric dance was at first before I listened and watched soem videos about it and it was so lovely! sorry it's short im so sleepy!
- Velvet and Veener superstar artists who were glamorous and then there was you... In the background just vibing as you eat some food before looking towards your siblings who sweat drop at you - Veener and Velvet buy you your costumes for your dancing cause they got that popstar money yk yk - They attend all your dance's and Velvet pretends to hate going to watch your dances but she actually enjoys it so much and makes sure Veener is recording all of it - if someone makes fun of you doing folklofic dancing venner and velvet would go off on whoever talks shit - Velvet makes sure you pratice she dosen't want you to be a failure
- When people ask velvet and venner about what you do they flex about you doing folkloric dancing - Baile folklórico, "folkloric dance" in Spanish, also known as ballet folklórico, is a collective term for traditional cultural dances that emphasize local folk culture with ballet characteristics – pointed toes, exaggerated movements, highly choreographed. - She makes you practice a lot but Venner tries to convince her to give you breaks but he does also remind you its velvets way of trying to care for you. - You love showing your dances towards Veneer and Velvet sometimes if you feel proud about it - Velvet likes to do your hair and make sure the outfits look great on you if its a dress she makes sure its perfect if its a suit she makes sure to iron it properly - Venner hums to the music and enjoys how you move around as he is a very proud older brother and clapping to the beat and hyping you up. - Velvet and Venner may be troll kidnapping artists but you didn't know that at all - Though when you run into their makeup room while they were gone to fix your suit real quick you stubled upon Flyd in a perfume bottle making you worry about your older siblings and what they were doing - The worry in your eyes made you scared of what else your older siblings who you looked up to have done...

I just realized how crazy Opal’s family is on paper. Imagine you’re a greedy crook so you kidnap the child of the random Charmeleon lady who you know has more money than she lets on. Then you send a ransom letter and set up a dungeon so this Charmeleon woman can give you the money for her child back. It’s fool proof!
And then you find out said Charmeleon lady is not JUST a Charmeleon lady, she’s the lady who stopped the world from getting paralyzed with her friend. Okay, no problem. They probably haven’t fought in a serious battle for years. It’s still an easy job- oh she still goes into dangerous mystery dungeons and so does her previous partner Kip. Okay, startling, but you can still pull through on this- oh wait, Grovyle the time gear thief, Dusknoir the hit man, and the time traveling mythical Pokémon Celebi are also part of the family? They also care about this Charmeleon lady?? And they’d also be apoplectic about this? Okay, now you’re a lot more worried, but it’s nothing that hiring a few accomplices can’t handle! Wait. The father of the baby is the guy who actively tried to cause the planet’s paralysis? The one who managed to torment an entire town? And all have of them practically stared Dialga in the face and said “yeah I can win this/I have to win this” and actually did win? Or at least one of them caused Dialga’s insanity?
You now realize you have only a few options:
1. Lie to potential accomplices about who exactly you messed with because no one sane would look at the full implications of this and go “yeah let’s do it!”
2. Hope the Charmeleon lady won’t call for backup, and that said backup won’t find out and come anyways, therefore plan proceeds without a hitch.
3. Just give the baby back and apologize.
If you’re really greedy or desperate for money, you’d choose one of the first two options. Otherwise, you’d choose option three and run for the hills.
And that’s before said criminal realizes they kidnapped a baby legendary.
The best part of all this is that her family never talks about the craziness of their lives. So you think you're just kidnapping some rich lady's kid and then a brigade of highly competent, highly dangerous individuals come swooping in simultaneously, but the brigade is comprised of:
That old man who you saw agonizing over what cookware to buy at the market the other day and apparently knows how to corner people who are running from him with startling efficiency
A scrawny, ugly grass-type you crossed paths with at the clinic when he was getting some medicines for his chronic pain and who is also unbelievably fast and hits like a truck
A marshtomp who, despite having famously (and shamefully, according to many) retired from exploration, is arguably even more dangerous now despite his calmer occupation, because he knows everything about the ruins you’re hiding out in, including where all the traps are
The rich lady whose baby you stole and also has apparently BESTED MULTIPLE LEGENDS IN COMBAT with the help of that marshtomp we mentioned earlier, and is currently tearing her way through the countryside and rapidly closing in on your location
And two entire legends who are not only extremely capable on their own, but can destroy your psyche by showing you the exact location, date, and cause of your death (right here, right now, her disemboweling you personally with her bare hands) or locking you in a perpetual nightmare. Also that one over there is the baby's dad? Oh heck you're so dead—
AND THE BABY HERSELF IS A LEGEND WHO KEEPS TURNING INTO DIFFERENT ROCK + STEEL TYPES WHO WEIGH VARYING UNHOLY AMOUNTS AND IS SHRIEKING LOUD ENOUGH FOR ANYONE IN A 30 MILE RADIUS TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE. OH HECK YOU'RE SO DEAD.
Beyond this scenario, imagine being an older Opal who's chilling with the fam during the holidays. Everyone is having a nice time hanging out and soaking in the good company. And then your uncle who cries whenever you call him Uncle mentions that he hasn't had this good of food since before his parents kicked him out of the house when he was a kid. You don't say anything, but you're extremely confused. Did he say he was evicted from his family home as a child? Maybe you misheard...
And then your other uncle says that he got the recipe from some bidoof during that window of time that your mom didn't exist. Your aunt nods sagely and says that it was very kind of the bidoof to share such a treasured family recipe with him during that time. He probably needed the comfort food while grieving his best friend.
At this point you are very much baffled by the conversation, and then your grandfather politely asks if we can stop talking about this, because he'd rather not be reminded of the fact that they all died when he's still finishing dessert.
Your dad then chimes in by saying he'd appreciate a topic change as well. His appetite is rather soured by the reminder of his part in their deaths.
You have never been more confused. And they all just move on to chat about the weather like nothing about what they said is absolutely unbelievable. So later you go to ask your mom about it and she has the audacity to reply:

Your recent post touched upon every issue I have with the Zutara fanbase. When it comes right down to it: Zutarians (the cult-like weirdos, not the ones in the fandom that just enjoy the ship for what it is) antipathy towards Kataang really does seem to be rooted in a hodgepodge of thinly-veiled bigotry, sexism and projection. I mean, their primary argument against Kataang is because "It's weird for a slightly older girl to like a slightly younger boy, but it's perfectly fine for her to be attracted to an older man." Yeah, that certainly doesn't sound hypocritical or based on extremely outdated/idiotic notions on attraction and gender dynamics that don't jive with how it works in reality; It really does make me wonder if they live in a freakin' bubble and were all homeschooled or something. And when they talk about how "empowering" it would be for Katara to be with Zuko (a member of a dynasty of ruthless colonizers and racists that oppressed and killed members of her tribe) and become his royal consort, they paradoxically proceed to constantly ridicule her for not being more sympathetic/nicer to Zuko despite the fact that she had valid reasons for being hostile towards him. Like, y'know: Threatening her home, kidnapping and blackmailing her with a precious keepsake from her deceased mother, consistently trying to capture/attack/kill her and her friends, betrayed her trust when she offered him sympathy, being an accomplice in the murder of her best friend/true love…
Yeah, I think she had plenty of justifiable reasons to tell him to take a flying leap.
Yet, they go "but poor Zuko…"and none-to-subtly imply that she should defer to him and disregard her own trauma and hardships associated with him because his feelings are more important than hers. Yeah, the "pro-feminist" vibes are really on display with those sentiments, Zutarians. Meanwhile, they tell the innocent twelve year old who happens to be the sole survivor of a genocide orchestrated by said-family of colonizers that he should "get over it" and proceed to call him a rapist every chance they get because of an ill-timed kiss (that he immediately reproached himself for), while their entire ship is based on an imagined scenario straight out of a trashy erotica involving their favorite "bad boy" taking advantage of a young girl while she's tied up, defenseless and unwilling.
And when you call them out on it? "It's just fiction, guys. None of it is real." *Snorts* Yeah, okay. So, you can suddenly use common sense to differentiate fiction from reality when it comes to justifying why *your* ship involving *your* favorite male character performing non-consensual acts with the heroine you *allegedly* respect in your fantasies is perfectly acceptable because you acknowledge that the characters and situations aren't real. But when the protagonist innocently mistakes a moment for one of intimacy with his canon kinda-sorta girlfriend (whom he shared mutual kisses with on two separate occasions) and realizes that he messed up? "Shit just got real, fam! He's 100% a sex offender and a horrible influence on our children! So are his creators! And anyone who supports him and Katara as a couple are misogynists, pedophiles and rape apologists."
>_>
Like, do they ever stop to think how terrible this makes them - and by extension, their ship - look when it's being enforced by such putrid rhetoric and double standards? It honestly makes me feel bad for the Zutara fans who just want to see Katara and Zuko together because it appeals to them and think they're compatible. It's a shame that it's become a ship mired by idiotic, pseudo-political garbage and baseless conspiracy theories all because the zealots desperately seek validation that they weren't wrong. Or more honestly, because they just can't admit that they're simply horny over fictional cartoon teenagers getting it on together, regardless of any evidence (or lack thereof) of attraction between them. Which is hilarious because you have the VAs themselves admitting to their own fetishes when it comes to ships like Zutara or Azula x Zuko, but you don't see them spewing this crap to justify why they like what they like.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant. Your post just resonated with me and I felt like I needed to get it out.

More in the AU where Elrond and Elros are 16 years old rather than 6 when Sirion is sacked. Tag is "older kidnap fam fic" for previous installments
Elrond wakes up draped over the rump of a horse.
Not, to be clear, his own warhorse. His faithful stallion is being ridden by one of the few remaining warriors of the Gap, the great cavalry of the Noldor, who will be able to keep her seat regardless of what the horse tries.
Elrond isn't initially sure who is riding the horse that he's been set over like a sack of baggage. His arms are stretched out past his head, tied wrists dangling toward the ground, and his ankles are tied as well, tighter than the hobble that he had while walking. He can't see anything but horse flank.
Elrond wriggles around to try and get a better view, and someone notices.
"Lord Maedhros, it seems your guest is awake."
Maedhros pushes down the middle of Elrond's lower back to pin him more surely to the horse. "Lie still. If you fall off while riding in formation you're liable to get stepped on by the next horse, even if the rider wished to avoid you."
"I know how to ride properly."
"Yes, I saw that you were quite skilled when you killed my soldiers, which is why you're staying right there."
"Could I at least sit upright, even if I have to ride behind someone else like an infant?"
"Maybe tomorrow, if you give your word not to escape."
"I'm not stupid enough to try and bargain with you again, after you broke your word about setting us free from the cellar."
"I never said I'd set you free, I said I'd leave the city and wouldn't kill you. Sirion crumbled in the first assault, but I did no more damage after taking you and your brother into custody. If they're smart enough to repair the castle first, everyone should be able to keep warm this winter."
"And if they focus instead on burying their dead, or rebuilding their houses, or rescuing their kidnapped princes?"
"Who knows? But I'm not king of even the Noldor anymore, and the people of Sirion are not my responsibility."
"You would just let them die?" Elrond wanted to glare at the Feanorian, and nearly slipped backwards off the horse as he tried to sit up.
Maedhros caught Elrond deftly by the bound wrists and pulled him back into place. "Next time you do that, I'll let you fall"
"So you don't actually intend to even spare my life."
"I agreed to spare you, not to save you . None here will harm you, but I won't rescue you from consequences of childish stupidity, no more than I will rescue Sirion from winter. If you would rather bash your head open rather than remain my captive, I am not so cruel as to deny you that escape."
Elrond had nothing to say to that topic, as his first retort about more palatable escapes seemed likely just to enrage his captor, as did any question about cutting off hands. "Where's Elros? Was he at least left back in Sirion?" Elrond wanted his brother to be safe, and his people to have a leader with his mother drowned. But he, selfishly, also did to want to be alone with the kinslayers.
"He's here as well, don't worry. Nornmalo has him, and I trust him not to torture a prisoner, despite what it may sound like."
"The moans of pain might be a headache, he drank rather a lot of beer while we were trapped."
Maedhros laughed. "Well, a hungover child soldier. He will at least bother Nornmalo less with questions."
"Could I give him something to soothe the headache? I know a bit of healing."
"No. A headache won't kill him, and he'll get water when we stop same as you."
They stopped only once that day, to water the horses at a stream. Elros was pulled down from the saddle - feet first, luckily, though he still landed in a heap - and his hands untied. Maedhros tossed him a canteen, and said "if you need to piss, now's the best time. You won't get piss all over the horse or your clothes, and we're downstream of the rest of the company."
"My legs are still tied."
"The ropes low enough you should be able to unfasten your belt."
"Are you going to watch me the whole time?"
"Until I find another guard, yes."
Elrond drinks little enough water to avoid the issue, for the moment.
When it's time to ride again, Elrond puts up a fight about having his arms tied again. That just gets Maedhros pinning his face in the dirt while a soldier ties the rope.
Elrond is slung back on the horse like a parcel.
They stop again just before sunset to make camp.
Elrond's hands are untied again for dinner.
The food is simple, waybread and water, and Elrond wonders if he should mention that Men need to eat more than once a day.
Far more exciting than the food though is the figure dropped on the grass next to him, clutching his own canteen and waybread.
"Elros!"
"Elrond! By Ulmo, you're alright!"
"I am, just a bit bruised from the horse. You?"
"Here's something for your healer's notes: do not put people with hangovers upside down for hours. I must have thrown up a dozen times."
"That's terrible! Maybe we can ask-"
At that point the guard tells them to hurry up, they'll be taken to where they're sleeping in ten minutes regardless of how much dinner they've had. Elrond and Elros focus on eating.
They are not, apparently, going to be sleeping near each other. "Too much chance to plot."
The Feanorian soldiers have tents. Some of them share, some of them have their own. A few soldiers have tents obviously designed for two or three that they go into alone.
The horses stolen from Sirion are tied to a picket line. It's loped through the reins, but one person untying the end would let all the horses scatter.
The horses the Feanorians rode into town on are not tied at all. They are loyal old warhorses, and will not flee from orcs in the distance. If wolves do sneak past the guards into the camp, better for the horses to run, and come back at their masters' call when the danger is passed.
Elrond, by contrast, is tied to a tree trunk. His hands are tied in front of him rather than behind, and his legs are unbound. Maedhros's brother - and Elrond learned from a careless remark that their is only the one left - even tossed a blanket over Elrond's legs, to guard against the chill of the night air.
It is the most freedom of movement Elrond has had all day, but that's saying little.
He is stuck sitting up, feeling every root and rock underneath him, unable to reach his hands back to where the rope is tied behind the tree.
Elrond sleeps poorly, stirring at every noise, whether it's a guard on their rounds or an owl hooting its warning.
In the morning, Elrond is given a breakfast of water and waybread again.
Maedhros says "You know it would be suicidal to flee, alone in the wilderness, yes?" and lets Elrond ride behind him sitting up.
Elrond's hands are still bound, and a rope leads passed Maedhros to the saddle horn. If he fell off, he better hope he can keep pace with a cantering horse, or else be dragged on the ground.
Elrond stays on the horse. He figures out his balance well enough to turn, and sees Elros riding similarly.
Thing continue like this for over a week, until they reach Amon Ereb.

Can you write a headacanons of Carstairs Fam? Where they have one more child beside Mina and Kit? 🤍
-Considering Mina as kidnapped when she was young, I imagine Jem would be even more vigilant when they have their third child. -Which is also why shortly after their third child as born, they adopted a puppy of a big breed so it could grow up into their guard dog. -Their guard dog acts like the dorky side-kick to Irene whenever Ty is coming over. It was very amusing to watch Irene teach their dog some basic hunting skills with an expression that seemed to say, 'Just how stupid are you?' -Kit remains protective older brother towards the two. Precisely because his father failed him, Kit's fearful of all things that could go wrong and just wants them to grow up happy. -Their third child is obviously yet another nod to the people they lost. They decided that it would be named Henry if it were a boy, and Charlotte if it were a girl because they really were like parents to Will, Tessa and Jem. -Both Kit and Jem have allowed Mina to do their hair and paint their nails, with Tessa just watching on incredibly amused. If there is one perk about the advancement of beauty products and hair accesoires in the modern era, its certainly this if you ask Tessa. She made plenty of pictures to ensure she remembers these moments forever. -Tessa became quite the photo-taker. Because her first family already died of old age, she knows the heartbreak what's going to await her once they died of old age, so she tries very hard to enjoy the moments whilst they last and prepare herself for once Jem and the kids are gone. -With Kit being a Herondale, he ended up being recruited for his school's soccer team even though he doesn't really cares for the sport. He honestly sees it as a way to have more time to socialize and learn how to be more like a British teenager. Somewhere, a certain Ashdown boy is incredibly jealous, but Kit remains unaware. -Kit always plays soccer with the Lightwood-Bane boys whenever they're coming over. -Mina as an older sister and middle child would generally be the one to explain what Kit, Tessa and Jem think whenever they try to tiptoe around their fears temming from their various traumas in a language the little one can understand. She really takes after Tessa's mature and wise nature and understands why they can sometimes act overprotective or seem to fear things like interacting with the Fair folk. -Because Mina was so young, she doesn't remember being kidnapped and has no reaction outside for the strange urge to start crying when someone brings it up. Kit is very grateful that she doesn't remember it. -Speaking of memories, something Kit would frankly like to forget are the lyrics to Baby Shark. He had to sing it so often to Mina and the baby, that he can sing the entire song even years later. He really hopes Jem was right that all children's songs blurr together through the sands of time. -Whilst Kit and their youngest isn't too musically inclined, Jem was happy to take notice that Mina enjoyed listening to the violin, and learnt her to play when she was old enough. -The Herongraystairs family have attended many a violin performance at the local music theater showcases where young talent would perform. One time, Jem could have sworn he saw the fleeting ghost of Will watching Mina's performance from the back of the theater. -Obviously that wasn't the only time where Will's spirit has been spying on the Herongraystairs family, as he watches over them all the time.

Maedhros & Maglor/Kidnap fam enjoyers, we like 'em both but we all have our preference deep down. What I'm interested in is, does being an older/younger sibling affect who we like more?

Royalty AU!!
PRINCE THEO AND THE CASTLE OF BECKER
meet the fam!!!
Prince Vincent Becker
The kingdom of Avamor faced immense struggle as the only son of King Becker, Prince Vincent, only a child at the time, vanished from the kingdom walls. The only remaining belonging of his was a note written in smeared ink of his abdication of the throne. The kingdom quickly rumored that Vincent's dissapearance was a result of King Becker's harsh nature, thus making him a rumored victim of abuse. It has been 18 years since he was last seen.
Prince Theo "Chosen One" Becker I
The birth of the king's second son, Theo, sparked a new era of hope for Avamor. But what set Prince Theo apart from Vincent was the day the little prince awoke from his chambers to find the whole of his corridor lit aflame with golden fire: Prince Theo was gifted. And the kingdom of Avamor called him the Chosen One for his unique abilities upon the King's public revelation of it. But from that day forth, Prince Theo was never seen outside the palace walls ever again. King Becker claimed that refused to expose him to the outside world, in case invaders ever decide to kidnap Theo and take advantage of his gifts. The citizens of Avamor once again assumed King Becker had done something to Theo, and the kingdom feared they would lose another prince. That is, until one special day 5 years later.
Prince Darien Becker
Avamor never expected to awake on that crisp freshly-autumn morning with the announcement of a new son, a possible successor to Prince Theo's position as future king. Though, it would soon be made clear to the kingdom, and the king himself, that Prince Darien was not without his own quirks either. As Prince Darien grew older, besides a handful of powers similar to Prince Theo's, he found himself a knack for pulling things apart, and... never putting them back together. Things only became stranger once Darien gained knowledge of engineering and technology. Some even rumored dark arts magic at play. From then on, the citizens of Avamor often reported strange red and black sparks flying from some unknown location in the castle walls, and the maniacal laughter of a young teenager from inside. However, the King continues to claim that his older son, Prince Theo, has been keeping Darien company and mending his behavior. What behavior is he speaking of, is what the kingdom wonders. Does Prince Darien pose a threat to the kingdom of Avamor? And why has Prince Theo suddenly reappeared?
Prince Theo Becker II get it? second?
Almost a perfect 3 years later, King Becker announced the birth of a new son in line for the throne: Prince Theo Becker II. And for once, it seemed the kingdom could breathe a sigh of relief as the new prince showed no signs of any sort of unique power or maniacal skill in the dark arts. Yet beside all this, the citizens inquired as to why Prince Theo II shared the name of his older brother, and the King could never give a straight answer. While this raised a few eyebrows, Theo II had grown into a teenager, and is currently at the bright age of 16. Usually seen running loose amidst the castle walls, with his ragtag band consisting of a farmboy, a minstrel, a royal cook, and an engineer, Prince Theo II is eager to recieve the Royal Pen from his father and inherit the throne. If only Theo I could stop Darien from distracting him from his training...

End of Year Fic Recs
Thank you @sallysavestheday for the tag and the kind rec 💕
Recommend up to 5 series or multi-chapter fics from 2023 that everyone should read (multi-year WIPs count, if the last update was in 2023).
Recommend up to 5 single chapter fics/one-shots (long or short) from 2023 that everyone should read.
Recommend up to 5 fics NOT from 2023 that everyone should read (oldies but goodies).
Recommend up to 5 of your own fics (completed or WIP) from 2023 that everyone should read.
Five WIPS from 2023:
we will make this place our home by @leucisticpuffin. 200k, AU, kidnap fam. The loveliest softest 1970s AU! It feels like reading all my favourite cozy childhood books and the characterisation is impeccable (Maglor my DARLING). Cannot recommend enough.
seabird by @welcomingdisaster. 24k, AU, russingon. "Give me a quick russingon prompt for smut week," Lena said. I obliged. This happened. Anyway the dynamics are so so good and the characterisation is so so good (Maedhros you little IDIOT) and the suspense!! is so good!! Everyone go and read it immediately.
ashes, ashes, dust to dust — the devil's after both of us by @that-angry-noldo. 9k, AU, Finarfin and Maedhros and Maglor. Maedhros and Maglor come up with a plan to capture the High King of the Noldor in return for the Silmaril. SUCH good m&m (I am a single-issue voter ok!) and incredible Finarfin/Eonwe dynamics as well, I cannot wait to see where this fic goes next.
Atandil by @eilinelsghost. 105k, canon compliant, Finrod/Bëor. The best worldbuilding, THE most gorgeous flowing heartrending prose, absolutely incredible characterisation... I am so so obsessed with this series you can't imagine. Still weeping over part 14 a month later.
And Love Grew by @polutrope. 8k, canon compliant, kidnap fam. A newer WIP, but I'm already so hooked! So far the characterisations of all the Fëanorians have been delicious and there are SO many compelling OCs as well.
Five one-shots from 2023:
Sea-Bells and Sunlight by @actual-bill-potts. 4.5k, canon compliant, Finrod and Lúthien and Beren. Lúthien finds both Finrod and Beren in the Halls of Mandos. LOVE the shifting dreamlike nature of Mandos here, and my darling Lúthien is so so perfect. Also all the Finrod feels... aahhh.
Somewhere To Return To by @searchingforserendipity25. 4k, canon compliant, Maedhros and Maglor, russingon. Just the softest loveliest most heartbreaking post-Thangorodrim fic. LetMaedhrosNap2k23.
the world to come by @arrivisting. 4k, AU, Fëanor/Nerdanel. A chilling imagining of Arda Remade, featuring some incredible Fëanor characterisation and the most gorgeous beautiful prose.
Quicksilver by @clothonono. 26k, AU, Indis/Míriel. Beautiful beautiful writing and wonderful characterisation. One of the fics that made me adore Indis.
What Will the Kinslayer Lord Do Next? by @tanoraqui. 3k, canon compliant, Maedhros and Maglor. Ok this is a spin-off of The Minstrel and the Star which you should also read because it's excellent but. again. SINGLE-ISSUE VOTER. and this is a top-tier m&m fic, all that tenderness and grief and bitterness and some delicious musings on the Oath and Silmarils.
Five older fics:
and one man, in his time, plays many parts by @lintamande. Canon compliant, Maglor and his younger brothers. One of my favourite Mithrim-era fics.
seven years of holidays by @jouissants. 10k, AU, kidnap fam. Elrond and Elros find a strange elf in the woods. Excellent kidnap fam dynamics and absolutely beautiful prose.
A reason to live (a reason it is not permissible to die) by Chestnut_pod. 27k, canon compliant, Eärendil/Elwing. Absolutely incredible Sirion worldbuilding and a wonderful depiction of Elwing.
elves, once by @ceescedasticity. 43k, canon compliant. THE most horrifyingly plausible theory of how orcs came to be. Both heartbreaking and fascinating.
It's the New World, Darling by @avantegarda. 107k, AU. A truly delightful 19th-20th century AU of the silm. Nothing makes me laugh as much as Victorian!Fëanorians.
Five self-recs:
The hard bit!
Ilimbë. 15k, canon compliant, Fëanor/Nerdanel. I still think this is the best thing I've ever written! Check it out if you're interested in Greek mythology, or in baby Fëanor making an idiot of himself.
the fairest stars. 78k, AU, Maedhros & Maglor, russingon, Beren/Lúthien and more. Probably my favourite of my fics, if not objectively my best. I know I love to hate on tfs for being completely insane, but I'm also pretty proud of it. It's got some of my best m&m, a rather in-depth exploration of the nuances of the Oath of Fëanor, and SO SO MANY cliffhangers. A silly bullet point fic that is also somehow the one I've put the most thought and effort into over the year.
in the breaking. 2k, canon compliant, Maedhros & Maglor. Still very fond of this one.
Inflection. 9k, canon compliant, kidnap fam. A very difficult one to write, but I'm proud of the result.
The Stranger. 928 words, canon compliant, Maedhros and Maglor. A very tiny little ficlet, but I like how I captured the post-Thangorodrim dynamics here.
Going to tag everyone I mentioned here, if you'd like to share!
