Hey, Spitfire! Try not to kill your brother ahead of time!
.
Looking for Ursa right after being banished had some...wildly unexpected results. One: Zuko actually found her. Two: she wasn't alone. Three: leaving her children behind in order to protect them was, apparently, just something she did.
Looking at the bright side, Zuko now had a three-year-old younger brother to look after. Looking at the dark side, Zuko now had a three-year-old kid he needed to parent while also keeping him a secret from his father because—may Agni help him—the Fire Lord would have to go through Zuko first if he dared to even look at Lu Ten II.
(AKA an AU in which Zuko is a good big brother and doesn't want another kid to grow up like he did.)

Avatar Aang aka Master Katara's malewife lol.
I'm pretty sure that the engagement necklace is only a thing in the northern watertribe, but i had been plagied with thoughts along the lines of "what if Katara proposed ro Aang with a necklace and after his death Kya II would wear it."
So enjoy aang in Kya II's weird smiley face necklace and also a cringey comic in my poor rendition lol.

i like to imagine that azula is getting the intensive care that she needs, but with her incredibly strategic mind i think the only activities she would remotely find stimulating are board games/card games that involve strategy. but also she's azula and the table is wood.
also completely unrelated but someone tagged this as dilf zuko??? i know from personal experience that facial hair can grow at any age after puberty lol. doesnt matter that i specifically have a thing for facial hair, which i think is obvious to everyone in my life who has interacted w me and my very hot boyfriend. personally i hc that zuko would do as much as possible to distance his image from his father, and so that means wearing more thai inspired clothes for his mother (who i also hc as thai) and growing facial hair as soon as possible to resemble his uncle.
someone said that toph should also be in fight club and i agree. actually hold on let me find that person and tag them @clubolive thanks to u i love that idea

all text is typed out below sorry that handwriting looks like the ghost of thomas jefferson possed me lmao

azula: Your move

zuko: hmm
image 4
zuko: really?
image 5
toph: Rule number one about fight club is: don't talk about fight club
toph: Rule number two is don't tell Zuko that this isn't a mother's group because he will get us disbanded again if he finds out about fight club part two

i keep seeing people talk abt atla again, specifically zutara. Thought i’d share my opinions bc i can ig
When i first started atla back in like 2020 i think? i looooved katara and aang, honestly would murder for them😭 anytime i saw her being shipped with zuko my blood would genuinely start to boil
while my opinions aren’t as strong now and i’m more open to things i still don’t see the appeal🤷♀️ i get enemies to lovers, trust me. I just don’t see it with them tbh
#on the other hand#zukka#jk#maybe#idk#im a multi shipper#pls try to get me on your side#zutara#ill actually here you out this nowadays#kataang#atla#avatar the last airbender#the older i get the less set in stone my opinions on ships are#i just think i’d rather see them as platonic buddies than romantic partners#it’s probably just bc i love the family dynamic that they have going on#the gaang

I need more fics of Zuko working at a teashop with Iroh (be it Pao's (iirc) or the Jasmine Dragon) but he's just really fucking short. Because can you imagine, be it Jet, Katara, anyone who's met Zuko (either as Zuko or as Li) stumbles into the teashop, makes a scene and comes off as a bad guy because they bullied this little boy?
I think I've read just one fanfic where this was a thing and I need more people to adopt the idea.
I just think it'd be funny if Katara tried to do what Jet did (let's say this happened a few days prior to Azula capturing Ba Sing Se), left because she realized no one believed her, returned later with the rest of the Gaang, Sokka tried backing her claim, he ALSO gets reprimanded for making stuff up about a little boy, and meanwhile this is all happening Aang and Toph are having a delightful time with their new friend "Li." Should they do something? Maybe. Will they? Nah, anyways Li what tea would you recommend?
#zuko#katara#aang#jet#sokka#toph#li from the tea shop#atla#i love the idea of zuko just accepting his new role as a child (you are one honey but whatever)#and using it to get out of trouble with people who recognize him#''how dare you say such things about mushi's nephew?''#''the audacity of some of you; you're older than he is you should know better than bully a child!''#''li is such a darling i wish he'd smile more and maybe he would if SOMEONE didn't make him feel uncomfortable.''#etc. etc. etc.#of the gaang i think toph would be the one to go with it#know her friends are saying the truth#and just straight up deny what they're saying#she knows that this little boy is her friends enemy (and hers but like they haven't fought so is he really?)#but it's so much more amusing to see katara and sokka scramble to get support#she's not sure where aang stands until she hears him try to befriend ''li''#bonus points to aang if he succeeds (like actually succeeds)

Brooklyn 99 is very quickly becoming a comfort show of mine but as an Atla fan I can’t get over how Jake Peralta is giving such Sokka vibesss
#they would be great friends if they existed in the same universe#they’re both smart dumbasses with a shorter very optimistic best friend (aang & Charles)#an older mentor figure who is baffled by their antics yet impressed by their intelligent unorthodox problems solving#(Piandao and Captain Holt)#abandonment issues with their fathers (even tho Hakoda did come back and try to do better the damage had been done)#they deal with their trauma by suppressing it and use humor to cope#And they both feel a responsibility to save their friends and make the world a better place#(Jake through his work as a cop and Sokka through ending the war with the Gaang)#(along with his help in the restoration efforts post war)#omg I could go on about this for so long#sokka#atla#jake peralta#brooklyn 99#I barreled through the first five seasons in like two weeks#my post#headcanons and stuff

When does the adult gaang movie take place? Because some sources saying they're going to be in their late 20s and early 30s while others says it takes place 12yrs after the events of atla which would put them between 24-28.

the gaang...as an indie rock band....? kataang, where aang's only way of confessing his feelings is by writing katara a love song....? 😏
💳💥💳💥💳💥💳💥
i present to you, excerpts from my new one-shot: Well, My (Not-Yet) Boyfriend's In A Band
⋆---––——––---⋆ ⋆ ---––——––------––——––--- ⋆ ⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
Aang winced, shielding himself with his drumsticks as he walked into Sokka and Katara’s garage almost a full half-hour later than their agreed-upon rehearsal time, as if the two thin pieces of wood could protect him from the combined side-eye of his friends. Even Toph, who regularly rolled in ages after rehearsal had started with a tea in her hand from Uncle Iroh’s, was shooting him a glare, which is how Aang knew he’d really messed up. He ducked his head into the entranceway, silently cursing himself for being just a bit too tall for the garage doorway.
Katara shifted from her position against the opposing doorframe, where she had been judgmentally leaning as she echoed the look in Toph’s eyes. “Aang…”
He threw up his hands in preemptive defence, words tumbling one after the other from his mouth. “I know! I know, I know I’m late,” he tugged his high-top converse off awkwardly, stashing his skateboard in the usual crevice he leaned it against. “But I swear, it’s for a good reason.”
“It better be,” Toph scoffed. “I blew off homework to come here.”
“Toph, you wouldn't have done the homework either way.”
⋆---––——––---⋆ ⋆ ---––——––------––——––--- ⋆ ⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
“I can feel you glaring at me, Zuko.” Toph smirked, then turned back to Aang. “You’ve been rustling around in your pockets for a while now, you sure you’re not stalling for a good reason on why you were late?”
“It is a good reason. Look!” Aang finally managed to tug out the crumpled piece of paper from his cargo pocket, unfurling it for Toph to see.
Silence filled the room, and then, in a tone laced so much with sarcasm that it was hard to tell when the tone stopped and the sarcasm began, Toph said flatly. “Well, it soundslike a piece of paper, but I assume you’re referring to what’s on the paper. Way to taunt a blind girl, Aang.”
“I-I didn’t mean, I-” Aang stuttered awkwardly, his cheeks flushing an embarrassed shade of pink.
⋆---––——––---⋆ ⋆ ---––——––------––——––--- ⋆ ⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
“The only problem,” Aang added, “Is that the songs can’t be covers. We have to write something original. The idea of the music festival is to spotlight new young voices in indie rock.”
The others exchanged sidelong glances. “I’m sure that we can write something.” Sokka said with finality. “How hard can it be?”
Hours later, Sokka was sprawled on the couch, head stuffed between the dove grey cushions as he groaned at their utter lack of progress. Katara was perched on the arm of the couch, biting her lip as she tried to run through lyric ideas in her mind. Toph was (very un-subtly) preparing for a nap, curled up in the room’s vintage armchair, while Zuko paced with a hand on his chin, lost in thought.
Unsurprisingly, the five of them had discovered that writing original music does, in fact, require both skill and inspiration, something none of them felt they had at the moment.
⋆---––——––---⋆ ⋆ ---––——––------––——––--- ⋆ ⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
“What about a love song?” Zuko suggested.
“Ick, oogies!” Sokka yelped from his position next to the mini fridge as he pulled out a pair of sodas. He moved as though he was going to throw one to Toph, then thought better of it and just gently placed it next to her as he sat.
“You have a girlfriend, Sokka.” Zuko pointed out as Sokka settled next to him.
⋆---––——––---⋆ ⋆ ---––——––------––——––--- ⋆ ⋆ ---––——––--- ⋆
“Aang, this is, this is great!”
“I like it.” Zuko nodded.
“Would someone please put text-to-speech on?”
“Let me read it out loud.” Sokka said, apologetically. “My bad, Toph."

June was the only woman older than Katara and Suki to show up and help the Gaang in the finale and I think that’s ridiculous. We could have seen Yagoda and the Herbalist in the White Lotus (and Miyuki!! She has a cute miniature lotus collar). Perhaps even Haru’s mom showing up somewhere?? IDK the lack of older ladies as respected guides and teachers is irksome and until further notice I’m headcanoning out of spite that they were there we just didn’t see their scenes but they were there dammit
#atla meta#look I love the old men#they are such blorbos#but Yagoda and Hama as teachers?#they really got the short end of the stick#Yagoda gets forgotten even when Katara becomes a successful healer bc Katara didn't want to go to her class therefore the class sucked#which is ass#and then Hama was a victim of the Fire Nation who began harming citizens and forced Katara to learn a perverse sub-bending ability#don't get me wrong I love the ideas for bloodbending especially the thought of it as a medical aid but the way it was introduced#and forcing Katara to learn it the way she did was traumatic to her#We get barely any lady teachers older than the girls in the Gaang and that's really sad#and this sort of ties into Ursa's lack of complete character and the lack of guiding maternal figures#and how there's hardly any mention of the wives and mothers in the FN royal family and their characters#whoops I'm starting to ramble

This is so cute! How does the rest of the gaang like the 1 year old fire lord?
I love love love Older sister Azula AUs
Hello, @mylittleostrichhorse !!!
Thank you!! This is my first older sister Azula AU but I think it's pretty funny and cute!
Anyways, onto your question
Katara - Loves him. Loves him to pieces. If Azula wasn't already his primary caretaker, she would adopt him on the spot. When the Gaang arrives he's only a year old so Katara doesn't view him as any kind of threat or the enemy. To her, and the whole Gaang, he's just a little kid who absolutely can't be Fire Lord yet. But Katara will always take care of him whenever Azula needs to step out.
Toph - She's not all that comfortable with babies, but she does play games with Zuko. Her favorite game is giving him rocks to chew on and making rock sculptures of herself for him (yes, she also makes little versions of the rest of the Gaang and Azula). Azula once catches Toph and Aang shooting Zuko up into the air then lowering him down gently with airbending. Zuko is laughing his head off. Azula is about to commit murder.
Sokka - They have a rivalry. Sokka is around Azula a lot because the two become pretty close friends and work together to rebuild the Fire Nation and Zuko does not like someone taking Azula's attention so he 100% throws stuff at Sokka when Azula isn't looking and sticks his tongue out to provoke him. Of course, Azula never sees so Zuko never gets in trouble. Sokka is 97% certain that Zuko is an evil genius.
Suki - Also loves him. She really just finds him to be the cutest thing in the world and uses her break time to play games with him and help him practice walking. Zuko more so prefers biting on her fans but they're pretty close. Suki also gets him a mini Kyoshi Warrior dress and paints his face. (A couple old councilmen almost have a heart attack seeing the Fire Lord dressed as an Earth Kingdom Avatar).

I was, once again, thinking about the AU in which Azula is the older sibling and the one who gets banished. her plan to bring the Avatar would go great if she didn't have serious case of older-sister-in-need-of-a-baby-brother (because she's currently not allowed to have her own around).
#just older sister azula#delicious really#almost as delicious as dead azula (I'm always in an angst era)#atla azula#atla au#we have Zuko adopting the Gaang we can have Azula adopting the Gaang#y'know the fire sibling we actually saw trying to be a sibling

There is something that I find fascinating in the Avatar fandom where most people at least on here are easily going against Aang because he's so flaw, why? Because the creators took that route(purposely or intent don't know don't care really)? But one thing that the people say there aren't any flaws with the others and how quickly everyone adores the rest of the gang no one doesn't point out their flaws. Only do it to Aang the most cause from my POV people are easily targeted on him since he got the girl and he is the main character. Newsflash I love them dearly but; ALL OF THE GANG HAS FLAWS! But no one points them out. Even Karara has flaws! Everyone in their own way was written off in an obvious way that the creators had to have them flaw especially with it coming across Korra's segment. It's just so easy with Aang because he's the most obvious one to pick on. Which is why it's so funny to me that people can point out his flaws so easily and yet don't say a word about the others.
#just when you get older#you realize that arguing about#certain fictional characters#are really pointless#cant we just enjoy any of the contents that#people are willingly to create#without the unnecessary fighting#i know too much to ask right#avatar#avatar gaang#avatar the last airbender#avatar fandom

Season 1 Zuko is so pathetic like "I NEED TO CAPTURE THE AVATAR" no you don't bbg you need to listen to ur uncle and get urself a nice found family consisting of fellow traumatised teenagers
#sobek's dumpster#thid js why i love the “zuko joins the gaang early” fics#i need more of him and toph. they r so brother n sister coded to me.#i am just saying#toph deserves an older brother she can bully and zuko deserves a younger sister who bullies him without any actual murderous intent or figh#ing. yes he will definitely reconnect with post-redemption azula but they bully each other. toph just bullies him with no consequences#and he should kiss Sokka. and maybe Tsuki too. actually both poly rights.#and he should also have a best friend who bullies him (katara). he should just be bullied tbh#idk what he'll do with aang but they will be besties trust me#we were so so robbed of more gaang bonding#wish season 3 was longer for them to bond#gaang

just some ramblings but man what a letdown korra was in terms of aang’s family.
i dont even have anything actively AGAINST what they did (i’m not anti enough to care one way or another. it’s always been a net zero in my head - just there), but the more i re-think on aang’s family i just cringe. like why did they go that route. WHY does tenzin exist and his weird little kids. like why didnt they think of something more creative for growing the air bending culture than aang and katara having a bunch of generic kids lol???? like i literally don’t even have anything against kataang (i have my opinions on it, and i don’t ship it, but like it’s fine), but i swear they took the lazy way out. & it’s also implied in my perception if canon that aang and katara weren’t even that close later in life, and that aang was a somewhat absent father (avatar duties!) so like they tried to add some interest? but it just ended up being weird. it’s all very nuclear western family. could’ve done way more.
i just personally ignore that side of canon and make my own headcanons (like that they fell out of puppy love, but out of deep mutual respect for one another had an agreement to have kids to further the air nation). but anyway i wish they did better. hopefully the 2025 film will elaborate on their situation and make it have more depth.
#grimmrambles#i get these shows were made a while ago so like mindsets were different#and i love aang i love katara i love the whole gaang#but like seriously nuclear family dynamic? they couldve done better and been more creativr#aangs series was tight af#korra seemed lazy for everybody#i just hope that the new movie w all of them older really nails it all down and adds more interest#not tagging bc i literally do not do discourse

I just finished having my friend watch atla! Her interesting takes:
A lingering dislike of zuko, much to my dismay lolol
An intense hatred of momo, which cracks me up
Adores girlboss katara, which i wholeheartedly agree with
Sokka seemed to grow on her as well, though not as much as he did on me
Overall she said she enjoyed the show, and we're gonna start korra next time we hang out :)
#atla#ryn rambles#shes also showing me merlin as well#we watch some of atla and then watch some of merlin#also i am working on the older gaang redesign#it just took a bit to get designs i really liked lol#but i figured it out and have started lining it
