Been thinking about this meme and how funny it would be if this wasn’t just a Doflamingo thing but a widespread belief among the upper echelon of the Underworld. Like I’m just imaging them celebrating something probably horrible and some poor waiter accidentally brings Jackie a flute of champagne. Shanks and Shamrock are indeed identical but now all we need is the confirmation of whether or not they are twins or if one of them is a clone. Shamrock is either a clone of Shanks (since we've seen more of his body over the course of the series) or they are in fact identical twins and Shanks, despite becoming a pirate after being raised by Roger, still utilizes his position to influence worldly affairs, thus explaining Marineford as well as his counsel session with the 5 Elders.

Honestly who are we kidding though, it's obviously the twins option. Just because the idea of clones was recently introduced does not mean jumping to conclusions when the obvious answer is right there and is so much more compelling.

there are a lot of bad takes floating around in op fandom but whitebeard slander is always the worst because oda took such care to craft a narrative in which this ONE character fits every mold of a platonic ideal of a father figure and i'm STILL seeing (thankfully not many) people misinterpret and take him in the worst possible faith and hold him to insane standards to which no other OP character is ever held

"he's sexist because he doesn't allow the women on his crew to fight"

word of god, not canon, also explicitly retconned with the presence of whitey bay on his crew in the oden flashback. there are also women who captain subordinate fleets who were clearly fighting alongside him at marineford. shanks's crew has no women at ALL yet no one ever comes at him about it??

even if it wasn't retconned, he served on the same crew as buckingham stussy, charlotte linlin and gloriosa. man knows women will fucking murder u.

he's very much portrayed as an old-fashioned 'dad' figure and OP's world is one in which sexism still exists. it's misguided but not unexpected for him to insist that his 'daughters' aren't put in even more danger because of his orders because he wants to protect them, but honestly given what we've seen of him if they wanted to fight he could NOT stop them lmao

"why would he raid marineford for ace but not avenge thatch or oden?"

ace is still alive. he didn't raid marineford for vengeance but to preserve a life that can still be saved

thatch and oden are dead and attempting to avenge their deaths would have racked up countless more casualties not just from facing off against kaidou or blackbeard's crew, but because in that big fight, he would be vulnerable to attack from other emperors and also the world government.

kaidou specifically used the raid on marineford to try and attack his flank, and was only stopped because shanks stepped in. wb only took the risk of raiding marineford because he felt that the life of one of his crewmembers was worth it, and he's explicitly pointed out that he would do the same for any other crewmember.

the fact that the navy only ever had the guts to try and execute ace because of his lineage speaks to how serious wb is about that particular threat.

"why didn't he listen to shanks??"

shanks wasn't telling him anything he didn't know. he already tried to stop ace, i don't doubt they've tried to call him back, but ace is also a pirate and whitebeard told shanks to butt out in order to preserve ace's reputation and autonomy. he respected ace's wishes to do what he felt was necessary and then he took responsibility for it on ace's behalf.

ace failed! he fucked up! ace felt ashamed enough, and whitebeard knew that, so he took the blame on himself as his father so that at least in the eyes of the world, it was his own reputation that took a beating and not his son's. i know a lot of people don't recognize that, but it is very much a selfless act of love and care. allowing his kid to make a mistake and then taking responsibility for it and helping him recover from it is the role of a good father

he maintained order in the new world for 20 years after roger's death. he was a terminally ill dying man whose mere presence stabilized hundreds of islands because people were so afraid of him. he isn't overconfident or arrogant at all, he's more than earned any confidence he displays

he is BOTH trading on reputation AND monstrously powerful, but even he says that he's no longer at his peak and people don't live forever. it's well established that he knew he would probably die at marineford, and given the shrewd choices he made all throughout that battle, it's more than reasonable to assume that he prepared the crew for that possibility

ace got them into that mess. he sure as damn hell would not have been a better captain, nor did he WANT to be a captain. ace never wanted to be captain or find the one piece or whatever, he wanted a family and he found it with whitebeard. ace was doing exactly what he wanted as whitebeard's 2nd division commander and all whitebeard wanted for him was to do what he wanted to, not force him to become PK

ace turned back because he couldn't shrug off an insult to whitebeard, and i'm mad at him for it, but it's also completely understandable why he did that. he's a sympathetic, nuanced, great character exactly because of that.

it takes a LONG time to train up haki, ace obviously wouldn't have had the opportunity to properly learn it when luffy could only manage it because one of the most refined users of haki who had all the time in the world to spend training him took luffy under his wing for two years. how the hell was ace gonna learn haki under whitebeard when whitebeard has 1600+ members to take care of and numerous territories to defend. he was growing at a very reasonable rate, it's not ace's fault nor whitebeard's that luffy's pace is so wildly accelerated

"marco didn't do a good job leading the crew"

they were together for a YEAR after marineford and still mustered the forces to fight a war. the story that circulated is that they attacked teach out of vengeance for whitebeard, but marco explicitly says that they moved on blackbeard because he was invading sphinx/other territories

marco is a careful, thoughtful guy. sphinx looked just fine. we heard the WBPs got scattered, but we didn't hear about any mass casualties and he also did not seem all that torn up about what happened during the payback war. actually, the fact that plenty of them and their allies were still alive and kicking for weevil to attack in the timeskip speaks to them being pretty okay after the payback war, if scattered. there's a lot that's still unrevealed about that conflict and i'm not casting judgment until we find out what

"whitebeard doesn't act like an all-powerful captain and he couldn't control the crew"

he's their dad. a dad doesn't exist to impose his will on his kids and force them to follow the path that he wants them to, his parenting is clearly in the style of 'give them a place to grow and thrive and don't worry about that other stuff, with some ground rules like don't be trafficking drugs or slaves or killing your crewmates'

the operation fell apart because blackbeard betrayed every ideal of whitebeard's and took advantage of his trust and kindness. so it's the betrayal of the ideal of 'family' that hurt them, not a problem in how the crew itself was run. it did, after all, function well-- better than any other operation in the new world-- for several decades.

It had been 5 years since Alice finished school and since she had graduated, she had decided to get her life together. She no longer had to deal with her immature peers harassing her every day and she had never felt more free. She perfected her style and how to dress for her body shape, learned how to cut her hair to suit her face as well as what colours suited her best. She decided at the last minute to go to her high school reunion, already regretting her decision when she arrived in her car in the parking lot.

With a sigh, she checked her makeup in the mirror and made sure her hair sat nicely on her shoulders before jumping out of the car, bag in hand as she slipped her keys and phone into the bag. She entered the doors of the gymnasium, a familiar feeling hitting her as she looked around at the groups of people littered around the place.

"Alice?" she heard a woman's voice chirp to her left and she turned her head to see one of her few close friends from school, someone she had long forgotten about since she moved away.

"Emily," she smiled, walking over to the small group of people the blonde-haired girl was standing with, "It's been so long. How are you? What are you doing these days?"

"Oh my god so much! Got my English degree, had a baby boy, got engaged," she twinkled her left hand out in front of Alice and the dark-haired girl gasped at the massive rock on her old friend's finger, grabbing her hand and admiring the way it shone in the light.

"Holy shit. I can't believe how much has happened within four years," Alice shook her head in disbelief, remembering the last time the pair had spoken was before they both went into their sophomore year of college.

"What about you? Did it work out with Flynn?" she asked and Alice shook her head, a small smile appearing on her lips.

"We decided to go different ways. I've been single for a little over a year now but I prefer it this way for now," Alice explained and Emily nodded understandingly.

"Oh, come talk to everyone," Emily linked her arm with Alice's, dragging her closer to the small group of people before Emily called, "Guys, it's Alice!"

Layla heard a chorus of greetings as she smiled at everyone, sending a wave to them all before one person in particular caught her eye.

He looks exactly the same, she thought to herself as his eyes met hers. His jaw seemed to drop as he scanned her up and down and she mimicked his actions. He wore a black and white Stussy crewneck, black baggy cargo pants and white airforces. Chris Sturniolo still looked like the same douchebag she knew when she left this place.

She looks completely different, he thought to himself as his eyes scanned her multiple times. She looked healthier and fitter with more light in her eyes as he looked around her face. She wore a tight-fitting long-sleeve floor-length dress with black heels, her sleek look making her look even more different to him. Alice Reyna looked completely different to the dorky girl he knew when he left this place.

"Chris," Alice shortly said, giving him a tight-lipped smile with a nod which he returned quickly, diverting his attention to someone else but his mind stayed on her.

She tried to ignore his presence as she engaged herself in small talk with the rest of the group but having him in the same room they were in 5 years ago brought back so many memories it was hard to disregard him.

She excused herself from the group, walking over to the table that was littered with snacks and drinks, grabbing herself a handful of pretzels.

"Hey," she heard a familiar voice say and she spun around, Chris staring through her soul but she didn't let it show that she didn't want him here. She had moved on and she was over it, she would be the bigger person like she always had been.

"Hi," she responded dryly, a small smile on her lips to hide her distaste. Chris saw right through her facade but he knew he couldn't blame her.

"You look different," he stated and she nodded, snacking on some of the pretzels.

"You don't," she responded quickly, eating the rest of the pretzels before getting herself a can of lemonade.

"Listen," he said moving closer to her as she frowned at him, "I'm sorry for everything I said to you. I know I'm five years late but I was such a fucking asshole to you and I didn't even know why."

"Yeah," she shrugged, taking a sip of her lemonade before speaking again, "You were a fucking asshole. I just hope you aren't now."

"I learned my lesson, trust me. I've been trying to make up for what I did since then. I was just immature and I liked getting a rise out of people," he shrugged as he looked down at his shoes briefly, thinking back to all the mistakes he made, "I think it was harder to get a rise out of you and that's why I didn't stop."

"You're lucky I'm a naturally patient person," she raised her eyebrows, still unimpressed with his apology, "And I'm also not a snitch. I might've been a nerd but I wasn't a tattle tail like you always claimed I was."

"Who was it that got me suspended then?" he asked out of curiosity, thinking back to when he got suspended for a week after writing all over Alice's locker.

Alice smirked, taking another sip of the lemonade before she answered, "Emily, actually. She promised me you would never find out who told and I guess she was right."

"I'm glad someone did," Chris smiled lightly, sliding his hands into the pockets of his pants as he swayed on his feet, "That's when I started getting my shit together."

"That's when you started only tormenting me," she pointed out and his expression turned apologetic.

"I figured out why I liked getting a rise out of you after that though," he shrugged and suddenly Alice was interested in what he had to say. She had always wondered what made her Chris Sturniolo's number-one enemy in school.

"Why?" she asked, leaning towards him as he peered at her, their eyes being on the same level since she had heels on.

"Because I thought that was the only way you would talk to me. You seemed so smart and put together and it made me mad that I wasn't like you," he explained, an annoyed look on his face as he continued reminiscing on his past self, "I envied you and I didn't know how to deal with it so I decided to be a dickhead instead. I don't know what I was thinking."

Alice's face was in a downturned smile, thinking back to all the times he had tortured her. He would always make comments about her school work or the fact she was a goody-two-shoes. He threw food at her after he heard she was top of their class and wrote on her locker the day she found out she was valedictorian.

"So instead of congratulating me like everybody else, you're first thought was to torture me instead and ruin every good memory I had with my academics?" she asked, a raised eyebrow with a slightly amused smile on her lips, "You are a fucking piece of work, Chris."

"I know, it was dumb. But I was a dumb kid, I still feel stupid now but I at least know how to handle that feeling," his smile turned apologetic again as he glanced down at her dress, "You look like you've done well for yourself regardless of my stupid decisions. What do you do now?"

"I got my bachelor's in child psychology. I'm hoping to be a student counsellor or something of that sort," she explained a proud smile on her lips, "Help kids who go through what I did."

"So you could say," he trailed off, a mischievous smirk on his lips as he did so, "You owe me your career."

"Alright, I can barely tolerate being here right now. Don't push your luck," she deadpanned, not daring to let the smile peek through her lips that she held back.

"You're right, my bad," he raised his hands in defence, a smirk still on his face, "That is really good though."

"What about you?" she asked, taking another sip of her drink as she adjusted the bag on her arm.

"Uh, I own a clothing brand. It's based in LA," he explained and she raised her eyebrows in shock, "What's that look for?"

"I just didn't expect a man who dressed like he was homeless in high school to have a clothing brand," she answered honestly making him chuckle before nodding in agreement.

"Yeah well, people change. Clearly," he gestured between them both and she now let the smile peek through her lips, noticing that it seemed like he genuinely had changed.

He may look the same and talk the same way but he carried himself differently. He seemed more confident and less arrogant, quieter and less attention-seeking. Maybe he had finally grown up, she thought to herself.

"Ali!" Emily called to Alice making her head turn before the blonde-haired girl waved Alice over toward the group again. Alice nodded towards her friend before looking back at Chris.

"You comin'?" she asked, a small smile still on her lips and he nodded, grabbing himself a can of lemonade before trailing behind her. He couldn't help but let his eyes scan her body once more, his thoughts travelling to things he wouldn't dare say out loud.

5 years ago, she was a small, frail girl who lacked the confidence Chris knew she had in her. Now she was a woman, her body filled perfectly and she radiated confidence as she walked across the gymnasium. Heads turned to look at her, shocked by the fact she was here looking the way she was and Chris felt eyes on him as well, probably wondering why he was following behind her when in high school, he made it clear he wanted to do nothing but torment her.

Chris never thought he would see her again but now that he had, it made him regret his choices even more. He always knew he was a douchebag in high school, he was deflecting a lot and he didn't understand his emotions at the time. But now as he stood beside Alice, hearing her laugh ring in his ears that still sounded the same as when he passed her in the halls, he decided he would spend the rest of his life making it up to her.

"Chris!" he heard the familiar voice of his childhood friend call. He spun around to see Nate walking into the gym and Chris smiled as he approached, "I didn't think you were coming."

"Nick and Matt thought it would be a good idea. Ya know, makeup with the people I was an asshole to," Chris shrugged, dapping up his friend who he hadn't talked to in a few days, "I thought you said you weren't coming either."

"Em convinced me," he rolled his eyes and Emily turned around, interrupting her conversation with Alice to focus her attention on her fiancee, "Speak of the devil."

"You said you would be here 15 minutes ago," Emily furrowed her eyebrows as she walked towards Nate, placing a kiss on his cheek and he gave her an apologetic smile.

"Got held back at work, my love. I'm sorry," he placed a quick peck on her lips as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"You failed to mention your fiancee was Nate," Alice spoke up, a surprised look on her face but still somewhat amused and Emily gave her a sheepish look.

"I forget how little we know about each other now. It feels like time hasn't passed," Emily gave her an apologetic smile and Alice returned one with a shake of her head.

Chris couldn't agree less, he felt like so much in his life had changed in the past 5 years and he knew Alice felt the same. She looked completely different, she felt completely different because she was completely different. He just hoped her could prove to her that he was a changed man.

"We're going to a diner after this. Do you guys wanna join?" Nate offered, looking between Chris and Alice and the pair looked at each other briefly.

"Sure," Chris shrugged, knowing he had nowhere to be and his gaze met Alice's shortly.

"Uh, I don't know," Alice trailed off and Emily pulled away from Nate to step towards Alice.

"Please, Ali. We have so much to talk about!" she pleaded with her old friend and Alice hesitated for a moment before nodding reluctantly.

"Okay," she agreed quietly and Emily squealed to herself quietly before clapping her hands, her infectious joy radiating off of her the same way it had always done.

Why am I doing this? Alice thought to herself as she turned her attention back to Chris.

Hey hey, 1125 gave us a lot of fun stuff to ponder. Starting with this. Here, we don't need to overdo it...

I'll let that speak for itself, certainly leaves us with a lot of nice intrigue around Stussy going forward which I am in favor of. There's one key thing about this chapter I have to get to and she surprisingly ain't it. Though I still love you Stussy, enjoy your ambiguous fate after an arc of a divided heart. Let's get to the main attraction:

Well well old friend, we meet again. For a good time, and a great taste...slap Garling into the open Gorosei slot. This presents a great opportunity to learn about both him and the elders. We still don't really have a clear picture of how much the average citizen really knows about these upper echelons of the government. Like...do you know who Christine Lagarde is? It's public knowledge, she's a powerful global figure. Head of the International Monetary Fund. Just because there is a fair amount of info about her available doesn't mean most people really think about her much. You probably didn't even know or consider the possibility when reading the previous sentences that...not who's in charge anymore. Her successor took over five years ago.

Point being, Garling represents an interesting shakeup. Most importantly that I will get to pester y'all with Mac Tonight jokes for many chapters to come. Emplemon has a great video on YouTube about the former MacDonald's mascot, he's a treasure that we can hopefully pull out of his brief corruption by internet racist dweebs...or make a lot funnier if Garling predictably ends up a genocidal maniac. Which, in conjunction with Dragon puts forward a really good note on Vegapunk's broadcast. This has a high likelihood of kicking off a lot of conflicts over higher ground. Speaking of Vegapunk...

It was a choice between badass Edison and the hall of Vegaparts. A very tough choice. Gets us to the title, a callback to a motif for our humble genius. What does death mean for him? Turns out not a whole lot. They don't mention Lilith having a connection like York still would, so I do wonder if hers has been fully cut. Either way, very cool final flourish for Punk Records. It floats away to go dormant until it's needed. Honestly...not unlike Toki's plan with the time fruit. And that gets me to the other big connection to those core aspects of Wano.

This fascinates me. The spoilers obscured how active Saturn was in this decision. But that's what makes it interesting. A last note of how our decisions ripple. Even ones that made perfect sense at the time.

Ultimately, hard to tell what this chapter represents. We cut away from the main cast, but that's normal to see one or two between arcs. We're still unpacking Egghead though so I can't fully say it feels finished here. If nothing else, we could bring it home by ending with SWORD finally getting to Drake. Who knows? But I'll see you next week, thankfully we won't have to wait long.

One Piece 1101

It makes sense now why a 10 year old girl had such a massive starting bounty. Like Robin’s was enormous for an eight year old, but it was because of what she knew, what kind of threat her intelligence meant for the World Government. Bonney is a bit different.

The first part is Bonney, despite being 9 1/2 just defeated a member of CP. In doing so she, a valuable government hostage and someone with Celestial Dragon blood in her veins, has escaped government custody. Not only does this give her father every reason to turn on the World Government but it’s also a major slap in the face to the government. They can’t even keep an eye on a nine year old child!

It makes sense why Akinu said he ‘had shivers’ when he heard Bonney escaped. Because without her, there was no reason for Kuma to help them. And can the Admirals even do anything to Bonney without government permission? Like Doflamingo was cut off from the Celestial Dragons due to his father’s decision, but we have still seen him execute power that Celestial Dragons have. Does that mean that the Navy can’t just take action against former Celestial Dragons too?

We see there are a lot of rules we don’t fully know about yet in the One Piece World. For example, CP0 can’t attack a Yonko or their crew without permission from the Five Stars due to the retaliation that it would cause. Stussy had spelled that out for us earlier. We saw Smoker disregard that when we first met Ace, but Smoker is known for just doing whatever he wants. Much like Garp and Aokiji.

That all aside, Bonney defeated a high ranking assassin and escaped government custody. Of course they are gonna slap a massive bounty on her because the biggest mission they have on that front is to keep Bonney and Kuma from reuniting.

Quick thought about Elbaf's premise

So you know how the new generations of Giants are brought up to be more pacific because of Harald, the previous king ?

At first, I was confused, because being pacifists is supposedly a good thing, even if it clashes with the previous generations of Giants, like the Old and New Giant Pirates.

Now though, as I reread Egghead, I think I get why it's going to be a bad thing, thus a plot point of this arc :

Elbaf is not associated with the World Government and the 5 Elders seemed really pissed that they showed up to help Luffy, obviously because they are very strong. Additionally, Nika the Sun God seemingly is related to Elbaf, so I bet there is more than one reason the World Government would want to crush Elbaf.

But with the Giants being such strong warriors always looking for a fight...

how would it be possible for the WG to win ?

Well, by stripping the new generation of its warrior spirit...

...and by making the sea "a dangerous place" then these kids might not leave Elbaf anymore nor fight, thus will not be as bothering as the previous generations were, to the World Government.

Why/How, I don't know, but I can't wait to see what the Straw Hats and Usopp in particular (since his dream is to become a brave warrior of the sea) will do to demonstrate to the kids that, in a corrupt world like the one they live in, having the will to fight back (without stomping over everybody else) is important.

Hopefully this arc is also one in which we finally understand what the hell is up with all these clones brought up by MADS (Stussy, Weevil, Shanks' doppleganger and whoever that was with him in the last chapter).

Here’s something interesting! Read back to Marineford arc and consider what Whitebeard might have meant to Crocodile. It was only after the witnessing WB getting stabbed and talking to his adopted son that Croco did a 180 to protect Luffy. I try to read WB’s dialogue to guess what he said affected Croco so much. My favorite theory is that WB is Croco’s bio dad and thus Luffy’s other grandpa! The family tree would be so entangled lol

This is one of those things which makes me feel insane because, I swear to god, around like 2011 I remember Oda saying in an interview that he based Whitebeard on a gay friend he had, which was like part of the reason why Whitebeard's crew WAS his family, instead of him having like a wife and bio-kids. That Whitebeard was gay. But like, no matter how I try looking that up I can't actually find any information to confirm this?? Like no interview or as much as a mention of an interview like that ever existing??? DID I IMAGINE THAT??? IT'S SUCH AN OLD, CORE MEMORY, I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW I WOULD'VE IMAGINED IT UP??? OR WAS IT JUST AN EARLY 2010S TUMBLR HOAX?????? I FEEL DERANGED

Honestly, considdering the way Marco of all people found it unimaginable WB had kids, let alone that Weevil was the son of Whitebeard and Stussy (the current running theory being that Weevil is actually like a clone of WB with Stussy's DNA mixed in), I do personally find it unlikely Whitebeard has any bio-kids at all. Like, that felt like the implication there to me, that Marco doesn't believe WB had bio-kids with anyone, and I would be inclined to believe Marco there as he's kind of meant to be seen as an authority figure in a way (at least on this subject)

At most, if the "Xebec is Croc's dad" theory did turn out to be true, it would actually make sense if Whitebeard had adopted Crocodile after the God Valley incident-- whether the kid stayed is debatable, since WB did still betray his dad so he might've ran away, but regardless, at most I could see WB being Croc's adoptive father. At most. (Alternatively, as Oda has stated in an SBS, Whitebeard didn't believe women belong on a battlefield so it could be plausible he didn't want to keep a 9 year old child on his ship either. So he could've picked up Baby Croc until he found a safe place to ditch him in, kinda like how Franky ended up)

I have been feeling tempted to do a re-analysis of Croc in Marineford because, when I did my first analysis, I was too Lost In The Sauce and far too excited about the mere idea of Crocodad to form coherent, even semi-objective thoughts. But now that it's been a few months, I feel like I could really look at it with a more fresh perspective

But let's just look this exchange Crocodile and Whitebeard had really quick

As far as we know, the only person Crocodile has ever lost to (aside from Luffy) was Whitebeard, and that loss was the thing that crushed his spirit and dreams. Whitebeard, the most powerful man in the world. He who humbled Crocodile and taught him his place in the powerscaling of the world, that Crocodile was at best a silver medalist and could never catch up to him.

That must've been Crocodile's entire worldview, for so many decades. That WB was #1, an absolute fact nothing could change.

But time comes for all.

Whitebeard has become old. He is no longer in his prime.

"I can't remain the strongest forever"

Even if Whitebeard didn't say that outloud, I'm sure in this moment Crocodile understood that deep inside. That the absolute he had believed in wasn't an absolute after all, that a new era is approaching and the kids (Luffy and Ace) on this battlefield are going to take their places (his and WB's) sooner or later, whether they like it or not.

And of course; this isn't the same Whitebeard who beat Crocodile's ass over 20 years ago. Taking his head would not give him the satisfaction and catharsis he wanted.

Trying to get past Jozu and Marco and the rest of WB's crew, some of whom might be more dangerous than WB himself at this point, would not give Crocodile the revenge he wanted. It wouldn't even be worth the effort. If anything, taking WB's head here and now would just give the World Government exactly what they'd want.

Like, putting aside all the theories, your Crocodads and Whitebeard's bio-kids aside. ('Cause sometimes you need to look past the rose-tinted theory glasses even if you don't want to) (And I need to remind myself to do that more often tbh) I do think the main reason Crocodile ends up assisting Luffy, is simply because of that. Whitebeard isn't worth it anymore. He's just an old man. Crocodile could kill him, without a doubt, it just wouldn't change anything.

So he just moves onto the next thing on his list of priorities; not letting the Government get what they want, out of spite.

Jackie headcanons 🪶

- Song 🎵: Dreamer by Laufey

- The gap in her teeth whistles a lot. When she’s really excitedly talking or huffy and pouting you can bet an involuntary whistle will come out.

- She talks to herself a lot, too much in fact. She’s realized she has to slow it down a little not only when she kept accidentally swallowing bugs during runs but because she started to form opinions on their flavour.

- Jackie genuinely loves her work but will still take any opportunity to not run deliveries. Her hair needs a wash? No deliveries. Her horoscope in the paper predicts bad omens for her? Well she obviously she can’t go out and risk affecting the costumers! It’s just kinda chilly out? Yes she has winter gear but have you considered how much warmer being in bed is!

- Very bird like in the sense she never really sits; she perches. Sitting in a chair the way God intended? 🚫🚫 Sitting on the armrest, top of, or leaning on the chair? ✅✅

- All her pay goes straight into a secure account. If she ever needs money she’ll just walk up to Morgans and stick her hand out.

- Vacation wise there’s only two places she goes: the first is home naturally, to visit her parents graves and reacquaint herself with the townsfolk. The other is a very well kept secret, it a very hidden resort where the rooms are nestled into the side of a cliff! It’s about as remote as a person can get, great for recharging and taking time for yourself.

- Due to the nature of the job she’s had to limit her work attire to trousers and pants only. Skirts and Dresses are not conducive to zipping through the air like she does.

- Her training with Stussy is scheduled for 3 months consistently but it always manages to sneak up on her. She has definitely tried to hide from her before, it never works. Thanks to Stussy though her Haki is stellar and she even knows the Rokushiki techniques but she never really uses them.

- Her room is stuffed with books on psychology, anthropology, things of that nature. She’s just so interested in what makes people themselves. She loves being able to accurately read a person from body language alone! It makes getting along with them soooo much easier.

- She has a sharp mind and a silver tongue she gets to know some crazy things very easily, things that would make great front page stories! Things that oddly never make it to print…it almost like she’s protecting some things from Morgans feathery grasp.

- Sewing as a hobby came from her being a pretty rowdy and adventurous kid who often ripped her dresses. Her parents would always just buy her new ones but she likes the ones she already has so she learned how to fix them.

- She does technically have a last name, it was on all her official documents but when she was old enough she asked to have it removed, she had already stopped using it years ago anyway. She doesn’t believe there’s much point to a family name if there’s no family to share it with.

So some people were saying that it was out of character for Sanji to not immediately go to check on Stussy but this is much more in line with the Sanji-of-old that’s been sorely missed lately in that he’s being proactive and thinking strategically instead of reacting emotionally to something that’s already happened and he can’t change now.

But what I find the most interesting is that Sanji has seemingly already decided that Kaku had no idea what was happening (and Kaku’s reaction confirms it) but even with that and the fact that Kaku’s…not really a threat at the moment, he still picked the safest option for all of them and he doesn’t seem angry or like he’s blaming Kaku for any of it; he’s just getting confirmation for something he was already pretty sure about.

Also like…someone give Kaku his damn tea and a blanket or something. He’s been through so much this arc and has literally done nothing. Man needs a break.

one piece 1091 spoilers (including things you won't see in viz)

Hey! Well everyone's going OPLA crazy, so 1091 might just fly under the radar, which is a shame, cos' it's a good chapter! I usually only do these commentaries on the chapters with Law, Kid, characters I really like (and I like the Straw Hats, but you know where my heart lies!), or small things that catch my attention like:

Is that Chuji (from Wano) helping Sanji out with the cooking for the crew? AND did

Doflamingo and one of his clones pop in to spice up the party? AND where

are Robin and Franky? Love seeing Jinbei helping out with the cooking, and Brook and Chopper politely enjoying themselves. Chapter's title is Sentomaru!

So the Pacifista and the weaponised sea beasts are taking on the navy (and the Vegapunks don't know that their defenses have been breached yet. The sea beasts are cute in a Big Mom way:

But never fear because

Doll is here! And another of the new vice admirals who was to the right of those two frames above. Beating up sea beasts, I think, and making their way to the Pacifistas (Doll already arrived!).

It seems that

if Kizaru hadn't breached the defences that the navy wouldn't stand too good a chance against the Robo beasts, OR, if Kizaru was with them, maybe they would. Also, love Usopp with his sniper specs (or whatever they are).

Also, it seems that Vegapunk is pretty blind to

the weakness in the control hierarchy. As shown earlier with the whole seraphim debacle, it's too easy for one person in the chain to wrest control. Then again, there is or was an assumption that everyone is trusted. Going out of order, but Jay Garcia Saturn Kizaru saying (thanks @darkspock)

that it would be good to keep Vegapunk alive (he is alluding to Vegapunk here, as Kizaru confirms he's set to kill him in the next panel) in the same way Jay Garcia Saturn says that

it was a shame to lose the weaponised beasts, and that losing them, and ultimately Vegapunk, because they are the less valuable or even dangerous assets, show how far removed he is from humanity. BUT, he does want to keep one Vegapunk! (Edit in: And I wonder now if Kizaru is talking about Sentomaru)

York! Love me a good villain. Ahhh. And also the power station, and Punk Records cannot become collateral damage. Elimination fo the rest of Vegapunk is the top priority. I still think the Victoria Punk might have a link to all of this too! (just from the name).

Anyway, back to the linear storyline. Before Sentomaru

bites the dust, Usopp, Nami and Brook sight Kizaru, and Brook mentions Sabaody. It's not forgotten, throughout the piece.

AND, I just had a thought, they weren't taken out by Kizaru this round, far from it, but Kid and Law (and all the other supernova, other than Bonney, Luffy and Zoro) were taken out by other forces before they got the chance to flee from (or fight) Kizaru again. It's a good way of showing the high stakes and who is left in the game. (Usopp still has his specs).

So Vegapunk is not aware of Kizaru's determination to let Sentomaru fight from his own morals, and Sentomaru's resolve to protect Vegapunk at all costs. The very small background story (we had some before) is sweet, as always, especially the relationship between "Uncle" Kizaru and Santomaru.

And speaking of cute and hoodlum and maybe awkward, but so at home in one's skin to not even be aware of it:

Stella Vegapunk (Atlas too?). But York is unaffected, and won't give up the code! (And Usopp has lost his glasses).

What if the "Old Friends" that Jay Garcia Saturn Kizaru refers to were

colleague, Kaku!

Smart move on Sanji's part, but let's reel it back a little:

Rob Lucci takes Stussy out (and Oda did say in the most recent SBS that he finally learnt how to draw bums, so he's taking every opportunity to draw bums. Butt only female bums, apparently!) And declares:

that he and Kizaru are besties and everyone's days are numbered, BUT, what if Jay Garcia Saturn Kizaru was talking about Rob Lucci (and Kaku) when he said it was a shame to lose old friends. Lucci is one of those kinds of villains who should be on the most-hated list (like Spandam and Walpole). He's good looking for sure, and CP9/0 have sad stories, but dammit!

Also, Big News Morgans is not gonna be happy about Stussy. But Sanji's move against Kaku above was so swift and cool. And it's Nami declaring Stussy Chan, isn't it? I don't think it's Sanji, due to the positioning of the text bubble, but I could be wrong.

This guy (Zoro)

is on the offensive (looks great!). And so is

this guy! Also love that Luffy uses 'we' to describe the whole crew (the whole generation?) being stronger.

And Santomaru's Japanese attack names and their meanings, apparently won't appear in Viz:
