Although she married into the family, Alicent Hightower quickly cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with. By practically managing the entire Targaryen business along with her wife, taking care of the needs and wants of her beloved children and still making time for activities she enjoys. Many would have called her frightening but most close to her say that she is far from it. She always has the widest smile on her face, often helps around the house even if they have plenty staff hired, she gets lost in her own head while painting and would trade heaven and hell for her family.

Rhaenyra Targaryen

Someone that has never conformed to societal norms of how a person in her position “should” act like. Was always known as a wildcard and while that garnered praise and laughter in her younger years, it slowly became a matter of concern as she grew older. Many talked when she married a woman but just as many saw the potential of these two and how well they balanced each other out and how well that worked for the company. The comments on her every move did make her insecure and incredibly afraid of the position she was to inherit. But while most judge her, she has never let them influence her life as much as they used to. She distracts herself with work, her hobbies like swimming, reading or going on whatever pretentious date her wife desires.

Criston Cole

The family bodyguard even before Rhaenyra’s marriage. Although not by blood, a part of the family. He was present at all crucial times in their history, so much so, becoming a father figure to the kids. Cracking the silliest of jokes while he accompanied the kids to school, shedding tears when the twins were born, having dinner with Rhaenyra and Alicent, unnecessary concerns about safety, everything was there. He adores this family and how much it has grown with him over the years and everyone could not be more grateful for him.

I’ve seen a lot of talk about Alicent and Helaena having a complicated relationship but I’m really curious about Alicent’s relationship with Aegon. I think a part of her kind of resents him. That he becomes kind of a symbol of the destruction of her relationship with Rheanyra. His birth meant that she truly was stuck with Viserys and immediately put her at odds with Rhaenyra’s claim simply because people were going to say he should be king by virtue of being a boy.

Just this complicated thing where she’s very invested and loving with him since it’s his claim she’s fighting for but also this barely buried resentment toward this child that she almost wants to blame for how horrible her life went. I just think Alicent deeply loving but also deeply resenting her two oldest children is interesting.

Helaena as a constant reminder of how her relationship with Rhaenyra could’ve gone and Aegon as the constant reminder of what her relationship with Rhaenyra turned into. Just fascinated by Alicent’s love/hate relationship with her two oldest. The two born before her love for Rhaenyra grew into hate
