Gladys Bentley at the Ubangi Club in Harlem, early 1930s.
Gladys Bentley (1907-1960) joined the Harlem Renaissance jazz scene at age 16 and became an instant sensation and gender identity pioneer. She performed piano and vocals at the most popular gay bars, wearing men’s clothing, and openly flirted with women in the audience. She headlined in the early 1930s at Harlem's Ubangi Club, where she was backed up by a chorus line of drag queens. She dressed in men's clothes (including her signature: tuxedo and top hat), played piano, and sang her own raunchy lyrics to popular tunes of the day in a deep, growling voice.

Bug Fact: Chitin is the key structural component of all arthropod exoskeletons. It can be as flexible as a wing or as hard as a clam shell.

For years, May 1 was celebrated as International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day in some countries, and often referred to as May Day. Here, in 1929, these five South Carolinan textile strike leaders marched in the Communist May Day Parade at Union Square. They carried signs, some of which pleaded for help, and others read, "Everyone on the picket line! Defy the Injunction!" May Day in New York passed quietly.

A visit to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. This beautiful cemetery features striking old gravestones near the historic church and enchanting 19th century monuments and tombs throughout the grounds. This church is an important part of Washington Irving's classic tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Considered one of America's first ghost stories, it features a headless horseman who terrorizes a hapless schoolmaster named Ichabod Crane. Believe it or not this town's school mascot IS the Headless Horseman. It is said he never misses a game.

a MCU/Percy Jackson crossover with Bucky Barnes as a demigod. Ik your already thinking, he's a soldier so Ares obviously but he's actually a child of Aphrodite. Reasoning: before the war and when he's healed he is dressed very well. He wasn't really into war. he's never really fighting for the fight, he's fighting for someone or because he has to. He was forced to be a soldier in both instances (drafted/brainwashed). Mcu Bucky doesn't give off Ares kid vibes. So Aphrodite kid.
