But Daddy I Love Him | J.H.S
Summary: You finally tell your dad and Rooster about your secret relationship with Hangman. Content Warnings: Secret relationship, mentions of food/eating Lyric: "Now I'm dancing with my dress in the sun, and even my daddy just loves him." Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Mav's daughter reader
Buy me a coffee
“I know you like to get involved with what I do for work, but I need you to stay away from Hangman, got it?” Your dad had asked you one night over dinner.
“Why? What’s wrong with Hangman?”
“He’s an asshole, that’s what’s wrong with him,” Bradley said.
“Yeah, okay.”
You just couldn’t stay away. The first time that Hangman got you by yourself was on the patio of The Hard Deck. Everyone was too busy inside to worry about what was going on so close to the water. He did a pretty good job of chatting you up and getting your number before you went inside because your dad was getting worried about you. That was months ago, and you and Jake had done a pretty good job of keeping your relationship a secret so far. You had a few close calls but nothing too serious, mainly just Payback and Fanboy catching you hugging or being too close to each other for “acquaintances”. They definitely knew, but Jake scared them into not telling Mav.
Both of you knew what you wanted out of this relationship. You wanted to marry each other but there were a few things you needed to do first. The most important being that your dad had to know about the relationship, even if he’d be unhappy about it. That was the most nerve wracking part, since he was the one who told you to stay away from the Dagger Squad, Hangman in particular.
“You should come by for dinner tonight,” your dad had told you over a phone call while you were sitting on your couch with Jake. Jake quickly shook his head and you had to stifle a laugh.
“I actually have plans with some college friends who are in town,” you lied.
”Oh, which friends?”
”Just some friends from the tennis club that I was in. I don’t think I talked about it that much with you.”
”Oh, okay. Well, have fun.”
”Thanks. Oh, I’ve been meaning to tell you that I’ve been seeing someone. He wants to meet you and Penny. Let’s schedule a dinner at my apartment some time in the next few weeks. How does that sound?”
By the end of the phone call, you had dinner scheduled and had told your dad a little bit about your new boyfriend. He didn’t know that it was Hangman, and if he had somehow figured it out, it wasn’t obvious. You spent the rest of the night with Jake, mainly relaxing and watching movies on the couch. As you both climbed in to your bed, you talked about telling everyone else.
“Let’s tell Bradley on the same day as dinner with my dad. Actually, we’ll call and tell him after. I don’t want him to let it slip to my dad before we get a chance to say anything.”
The next couple of weeks flew by, and there were only a few hours until your dad and Penny would be at your apartment for dinner. You told Bradley about dinner, and he decided to join, so you didn’t have to go to the base just so that you and Jake could announce your relationship. Jake joined you at your apartment while you cooked dinner. You had him set the table and put a bottle of wine on ice. There were plenty of beers in the fridge, since you only had wine on special occasions. (Mainly because you weren’t really a fan of it unless it tasted like jam.)
Bradley walked in with Penny and your dad at the perfect time. You were pulling the lasagna out of the oven and Jake was in the bathroom. You mentioned that when your dad asked you where your boyfriend was, leaving out his name.
It was a surprise to everyone when Jake walked out of the bathroom and asked if you were all ready to eat. Bradley immediately got a beer out of the fridge, Penny looked impressed, and you couldn’t quite describe the look on your dad’s face. Everyone sat down and started eating, and things were mostly quiet except for the occasional ask to pass something across the table.
“So, how long have you two been dating?” Your dad asked.
“A few months, and before you get worked up, we’re happy.”
“I’m not worked up, okay? I just wanna know why you kept it a secret for so long.”
“That’s what you’re wondering about?” Bradley asked, “I mean, Hangman, I knew you were seeing someone when you started skipping nights at The Hard Deck. I’m wondering why this, why now, y’know? Like, why get us together for dinner to announce this? Not that I’m really complaining, I get a free meal, but this could’ve been a text, really.”
You sighed and put your head in your hands out of embarrassment. Bradley did have a point, but you were mainly focused on trying not to laugh.
“We’re thinking of getting married. That’s why you’re all here, because one day, we’re gonna have a big ceremony,” you glared at Jake while he was speaking, “or we’ll head down to the courthouse, and we’ll want you there to celebrate with us.”
“Do you love him?” Your dad asked you.
“Yes,” you said as you nodded your head.
“And do you love her?”
“Absolutely, sir,” Jake said.
“That’s all I needed to hear. Get married, have fun, do whatever you want. But try not to rush into it, okay?”
“Wait, really?” You asked through chuckles.
“Yeah. If you’re happy, I’m happy. I couldn’t really stop you, anyways, since it is your life.”
“I’ll cheers to that,” Jake said. You clinked wine glasses and beer cans before handing out dessert. You had made a cheesecake before everyone arrived, so all you had to do was pull it out of the fridge and cut it. Bradley stayed a lot longer than anyone thought he would, not leaving until midnight when you pointed out how late it was getting.
It was somewhat surprising that your dad had approved of the relationship so easily. It was even more surprising that Rooster was okay with all of it. Either way, you weren’t complaining. And since you and Jake were more comfortable with being open about your relationship, you started going to The Hard Deck with him and the rest of the Dagger Squad. You even loudly supported him at the next air show that he had, while hanging out with the other partners of the group.

Imagine Going On A Date With Hangman
Jake 'Hangman' Seresin X FemReader
Rating: T
Warnings: Teasing, mentions of an abusive relationship in the past, tooth rotting fluff
Word Count: 1.9k
Part 1: here
Taglist: @chaoticcassidy, @the-marshals-wife, @hotch-meeeeeuppppp
(A/N:) I have been lagging behind on my writing here lately as my artwork has been taking the majority of my time. I'm in the process of opening an Etsy store because all my creations are starting to pile up and I live in an area that people aren't interested in fandom things. So I'm taking matters in my own hands. But I am going to keep writing! Being able to write these fun imagines is something I love doing and won't give up for anything! So I'm going to try to write more and to my bestie who wanted a second part of the last Hangman imagine here is that date part you wanted! I have two more requests in store so keep an eye out! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
The setting sun and crashing waves were your only companions as you sat on a bench outside The Hard Deck. You couldn't remember what really possessed you to agree to Hangman's request, and you were really questioning what had gotten into you as he was naturally late. You tapped your foot, glancing at your phone to see what time it was. You decided to give him a moment longer, before you gave up and went home. You had just placed your phone back in your purse for the tenth time when a pickup pulled into The Hard Deck's small parking lot. You rolled your eyes, knowing it was just another bar hopper when the driver side door swung open. Boots thudded against the ground as you lost yourself in the search for your keys in the bottomless purse you lugged around.
"Hello," the familiar voice cut through your grumbling.
"You're late," you hissed
"Fashionably," Hangman retorted.
Giving him a once over," No just late."
"If I wasn't so confident in myself that would have hurt my feelings."
"Confident and inflated ego are two totally different things," you crossed your arms.
"Sure," Hangman grinned. "Sorry I'm late it won't happen again."
"So confident that there will be a next time?"
"Absolutely."
You hummed, zipping back up your bag. You came all this way and waited this long. No sense in going home now when he just got here.
"Okay flyboy," you held out your hand. "Woo me."
Without hesitation Hangman took your offered hand, kissing your knuckles before leading you towards the passenger side of his truck and opening the door. Once you were seated in the passenger side, Hangman shut the truck door. Naturally he pumped his fist and raced around the front to the driver side. You couldn't help but laugh, though you did roll your eyes. Sliding the keys into the ignition and starting the truck, letting the diesel engine rumble for a few seconds you waited until Hangman started to shift into reverse.
"So what do you have planned for me this evening?"
He shrugged looking out the back window as he steered the big truck out of the parking lot. "I thought we might go bar hopping."
"Seriously?!" Any thought of you enjoying tonight and that Hangman would actually be pleasant for a change went out the window. Maybe you were having a moment of naivety that night you said yes. Now all those what if's and worrisome thoughts started to avalanche in your mind, until Hangman started to laugh.
"I'm joking," he coughed. "Don't worry I have a fun night planned.
"Now I'm worried what your definition of fun is," you retorted cheeks flushing red in anger.
"Lighten up sweetheart I won't do anything you don't want."
Your teeth began to grind and you were really starting to question your sanity. "Has anyone ever told you that they'd like to throat punch you?"
"I'm sure but they never voiced it,"
"Well let me tell you I really want to throat punch you."
"Good to know we're off to a good start tonight! First something to eat."
Despite being a storm of rage in the passenger seat from Hangman's teasing it didn't take long before he was able to ease you into a simmer. You watched the scenery go by while Hangman told funny stories from work. Though you drove these streets for years, you never really got to enjoy the sights as you were always too focused on the road to notice little details. Hangman could tell that you weren't really paying attention but it didn't stop him from talking. You had your arm resting on the center console, finger gently tapping to the music on the radio. He smirked to himself when he got caught at another red light.
"Are you listening," he asked.
You just replied with, "Hmmmm?"
"I'll take that as a no," he scoffed before glancing once more at your digits tapping even harder against the hard plastic. The stop light still glaring red in the night that was settling in, he eased his hand over yours, stopping your fingers movements before he interlaced your fingers with his. You jumped, quickly glancing over. Instead of saying a word at your shocked face he placed gentle kisses to the back of your hand. The light turned green, but he didn't release your hand as he drove on. You paid a little more attention to the conversation though your heart was pounding loudly as you kept glancing from the vehicles passing by to your hand swallowed by Hangman's much larger and calloused hand. You breathed a sigh of relief when the restaurant came into view and Hangman parked the truck.
"Stay," he demanded before hurriedly getting out and racing to your door.
You rolled your eyes but just waited. He opened the door with a flourish before offering you a hand to help you out. With you "safely" on the ground, Hangman slammed the door shut and locked the truck up. For the third time in the evening he took your hand, walking hand in hand to the entrance.
"You know you don't have to go so far for me," you said.
"Of course I do. You agreed to go out with me and I want you to be treated the way you deserve," he retorted still gripping your hand while he opened the restaurant door for you as well.
"Oh please don't make me gag with the goody two shoes act you cocky jerk," you laughed.
The hostess waved a server over as soon as you both walked in, cutting off Hangman's reply by leading you both to a table. You noticed that it wasn't an overly stuffy restaurant. You could tell by the smells coming from the kitchen that they had good food but it was still a comfortable enough atmosphere that you didn't have to worry about snobby rich people sneering at your comfy clothing choice. Once seated and your drink orders placed you raised the menu to start browsing. Usually you could decide what you wanted pretty quickly but tonight you were shaken by the way Hangman was acting so it was going to take you a minute to concentrate. The menu was suddenly slapped down onto the table. Hangman kept his hand pressed against the laminated paper making sure you couldn't hide behind it. You felt a little guilty for what you said before you both were interrupted just a moment ago.
"It's not an act," he glared. "I'm being genuine right now, just for you. I've wanted this for awhile and I don't want to do anything to mess it up. I'm sorry I was late. I was so nervous that I didn't know what I wanted to wear or where I should take you until last minute. I've been flustered since the moment you agreed outside The Hard Deck."
At the beginning you would have chalked it up to Hangman teasing you once again, trying to get under your skin. But the sincerity in his eyes made you realize that this wasn't act. He wasn't just saying these pretty words to get you to let your guard down so he could strike. He was being real and you wanted to melt into the floor as you now felt like an absolute jerk.
"I'm sorry," you mumbled fighting back the sudden tears stinging your eyes. "I shouldn't have been such a jerk to you."
"It's okay I really gave you a reason to be so defensive but I really want to try."
"It's not you," you sighed body shaking. You were about to continue on when the waitress came back and set the drinks down on the table. You hadn't even gotten to glance at the menu but without missing a beat Hangman ordered sending the waitress back off with the orders.
"Trust me I come here a lot," he grinned. "And you don't have to tell me. The Navy guys pretty much know some guy took advantage of you. We don't know any hard details but just know, we have your back no matter what."
Once again the pilot left you speechless, "Thank you."
He nodded leaning back in the chair he was sitting in. Without a second thought Hangman moved the topic to something else and in a matter of seconds he had you laughing and joyously conversing with him until the food made it to the table. And true to his world it was absolutely delicious and now you wanted to come back as soon as possible.
With full stomachs Hangman lead you back to the truck. The night had settled in fully before he once again held open your door. He didn't shut it immediately this time.
"Can I take you to a movie?"
"Absolutely!"
After the delicious dinner and a fun movie you realized that you didn't want this date to end. You couldn't remember the last time that you had enjoyed yourself so much. And if you could tell that Hangman wasn't ready for you to get out and leave in your car just yet.
"Think we can go take a walk on the beach for just a little while," you asked.
He perked up, eyes shining brightly he nodded.
You held your shoes in one hand and Hangman's hand in the other as the cooling sand shifted between your toes. The crashing waves on the beach sent little salty sprays in the air as little crabs scuttled by.
"I can't remember the last time I had so much fun," you breathed in deeply.
"Getting to fly is pretty fun," Hangman drug the toe of his boot in the sand. "But this is a different type of fun. I wouldn't want to share with anyone but you."
You faked a gag, "Ugh so sappy!"
He laughed," You have no one but yourself to blame. You shouldn't be so pretty."
"Oh puh-lease Hangman," you laughed. "You don't have to just say that."
He cupped your cheeks, hushing you immediately. Hangman stared down at you seriousness and a little bit of anger simmering in his gaze. You swallowed loudly, unsure of what to do in such a situation.
"Stop putting yourself down," you all but snarled. "You're amazing and I wish you could see it."
You never had someone say things like that with such conviction and it had you a little emotional. Hangman pressed his forehead against yours. Taking in your presence as your soft cheeks warmed his palms.
"I wish you could see yourself the way I see you," he whispered. Placing a tender kiss on your forehead, you shivered against the contact of his warm lips against your skin. Hangman leaned backwards taking in your face before pulling you in closer. His breath brushing against your lips. He leaned in closer, claiming your mouth with his. The beach a perfect backdrop as the waves made their crashing applause against the sandy beach that suddenly became your favorite spot. Seconds later Hangman parted from you before holding you tightly.
"Thank you," you melted in his hold.
"Can we do this again soon," he whispered afraid of the answer you'd give him.
"The dating or kissing," you teased.
"Both. Lots of both."
"I'm ready whenever you are flyboy."
Hangman squeezed tighter," So tomorrow?"
You nodded, "Definitely tomorrow."

furniture shopping + night out
matt sturniolo x influencer!reader
summary: your day in the life vlog ft. your boyfriend matt, request
warnings: fluff, maybe language
“good morning vlog” you said taking a sip of your coffee. the sun was just starting to come through your apartment windows as people filled the streets below. “i have a very exciting day planned today so i thought i’d intro the video now and we can chat for a minute.”
you began to get all of the ingredients out to make breakfast for you and matt while you talked to the vlog about your night. your videos tended to feel like a facetime call between you and your fans. everyone loved how personal and friendly they felt. “matt spent the night here yesterday, and i figured i’d be a good girlfriend and make us breakfast. i convinced matt to go to ikea with me this morning because i’ve been in this apartment for about a month now, and i still have no living room furniture. so we’re going to try to fix that.”
as you continued making breakfast matt finally woke up and decided to join you in the kitchen. “okay guys, be honest do these pancakes look good? i hope so. but i’m going to go wake matt up-” matt appeared from around the corner at this statement. “oh nevermind. hi baby! good morning.” matt, not being fully awake yet, gave you a small groan and fell into your arms for a hug. you returned it, holding him for what felt like hours. neither of you complained though. you and matt could be surgically attached and it still wouldn’t be close enough for the two of you.
you turned your head to the side looking at your counter. “me and my friends talked about last night and what we have planned for this morning while i made us breakfast.” “your friends?” matt questioned since he was the only one in your house. “yeah my friends in the vlog” you said with a ‘duh’ tone, earning yourself a poke in the side from matt.
you picked up your camera again about an hour later while you were in the car. focusing the lens on matt, you began to ask him questions. “how do you feel now that i might actually have a couch after a month?” you asked with a laugh. matt’s smile brightened as he took his eyes off the road for a second to look between you and your camera. “i’m happy that we’ll finally have some place to sit other then your kitchen table. i’m excited to go shopping if you’re excited.” he reached over to pat your knee.
“matt’s not the biggest fan of shopping if you couldn’t tell. or if you’ve seen his house you’d know how unfurnished it is.” you said setting the camera on the dash to look at both of you. “listen, i just don’t see the point in worrying about how my house looks when i can be doing fun stuff with my life.” matt said with a chuckle. he grabbed your hand so you knew he was fully just joking to mess with you. “i think furniture shopping is fun. we’ll see you guys again hopefully when i have a couch.”
you were back in the car when you found yourself filming again. you head rested on matt’s ands your intertwined arms as you sat in the parking lot. “bad news guys. we couldn’t find a couch.” you removed yourself from matt as he started backing out of the parking spot. his hand now rested on the back of your neck as he played with your hair. “so sad. i still have to sit on the floor.” matt remarked. you gave him a discouraged laugh catching his attention. he looked over at you while at the red light. “don’t worry sweetheart we’ll figure it out.” he leaned over quickly to kiss you cheek. “thanks matt. we’ll see you guys later.” you said giving your vlog a small smile.
a few hours had past as you and matt spent some quality time together at your apartment. it wasn’t often that you guys got alone time so you cherished it when you did. no meetings, no sibling, and no cameras. but that came to an end when you realized you had a vlog to finish.
matt was the one to pick up your camera this time. you were in your bathroom getting ready for the prada event you were going to tonight. matt thought this would be the perfect time to try and scare you. he quietly walked through your house, making his way to you. unfortunately for him you caught him in this act. his reflection showed up in the corner of your mirror. “what are you doing?” “no i’ve been caught. i was trying to scare you.” he said with a laugh. “next time, baby” he set your camera on your bathroom counter and came around to hug you from behind. “you look really pretty, sweetheart. do you want to tell them where we’re going?” he asked as he gently layed his chin in your shoulder. he didn’t want to mess up what you were doing.
matt’s comment had made you blush, but you’ll quickly pulled yourself back together. “thanks baby. um- matt did a photoshoot with prada recently, and he looked incredible. so they invited us to an event they’re throwing tonight.” “if we make it there.” matt threw out winking at the camera. you looked at him in the mirror quickly as you threw your arm back to jokingly hit him in the shoulder. “matthew!” you exclaimed. “what? im just saying there might be traffic.” he shrugged acting nonchalantly as you rolled your eyes.
“anyway guys i think we’re going to call it a night. i’ll let you know tomorrow how the event went. i love you and i’ll see you soon.” you smiled picking up the camera as matt starts to walk out of the bathroom. “wait, matt! do you have any last words for our friends?” he turned to you with a slight smirk. he quickly screamed in the camera before running off. “i’m so sorry head phone users.” and you ended the video
an: i’m sorry this is so short but i wanted to make this different from chris’s so i hope you enjoy. i also slightly based this off of the vibe of jules leblancs vlogs because i love them 🤍

Tell Your Lucky One
Pairing: Joost Klein x GN!Reader (no prns used!)
CW: crying, just emotional angsty shit
WC: 832
A/N: lil angsty song fic, listen to Beach Baby by Bon Iver if you haven’t 🙏🏻🙏🏻 this has been in my drafts for a hot min so here you go! ignore how i used the same prompt i did in my last fic 😭😭
“Liefje, you know these dates were planned months ago.” Joost sighed, rolling his suitcase by the couch while you waited in the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“I know, I just didn’t know the time was gonna pass so quick.”
“It’ll pass quickly when I’m gone too. I’ll be back home before you know it.” He said, entering the doorway. Joost sat down next to you,
“Two months.” You whispered, trying to convince yourself it wouldn’t be that long.
“Teuns gonna pick me up tonight and then I’ll have to get going.” You purposely didn’t ask what specific time he was leaving, you didn’t want to. You knew if he was leaving at a certain time you’d spend the whole night dreading the hour.
The sun was already setting, casting a golden glow on his face.
“I’ll text you and video chat every night, whenever I can. Maybe, I’ll even call you on stage.” He teased, tickling the side of your waist.
“There’s a smile!” He grinned when you squirmed away and giggled a bit.
You shuffled closer, throwing your legs over his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck and laying your head on his shoulder.
You stayed there for a little, silent while Joost rubbed your back. Joost felt a few drops hit his shirt, he craned his neck to look at you.
“Hey, don’t cry liefje.” He cupped your face, wiping away the tears.
“I’m sorry.” You said, sniffling. “I’m just gonna miss you so much.” You didn’t mean to say it through a sob. Joost made a sympathetic noise.
His heart broke, he desperately wanted to bring you along, but he really couldn’t bring any more people on this tour and you had your own responsibilities to take care of.
“The two months will go by so fast you won’t even realize.” He tried to give you a smile.
You felt stupid crying over this, feeling like a child again, sitting in his lap and crying over a dropped lollipop.
You turned your face to the side, trying to hide it from him.
“Hey, look at me. I wanna see you.” You shook your head.
“I don’t look pretty when I cry, my face gets all pink and blotchy.” You said through a sad laugh. He brought his fingers under your chin, pulling your gaze back to him.
“I love your face, even if it’s all pink and blotchy.” He kissed the tip of your nose, you smiled.
You maneuvered yourself off of him, going back to your original spot next to him. Sitting in silence once again.
“Can you do one favor for me?” You looked at your hands, too nervous to look at him.
“Ja, ja of course.” He tried to look in your eyes.
“Just don’t lock the door when you go, I don’t want to hear you leaving.” You said softly.
Joost wanted to refuse and tell you how it was a risk. But you lived in a quiet and safe area.
And if it helped keep him from breaking your heart any more, he would do it for you.
“Okay.” He said softly, pressing a kiss to your temple. It hurt how he noticed the way you didn’t lean into the kiss like you always would. You only sat there silent, staring at your fidgeting hands.
“Will you just lay with me for a little bit?” You finally looked at him, lip pouting a tiny amount. He let out a hum of agreement.
You both moved to the top of the bed, shuffling under the sheets. His chest pressed against your back, holding onto your waist so tightly.
You grabbed one of his hands, intertwining your fingers, and holding his and your hand against your chest.
Trying desperately to keep any more tears from escaping, you shut your eyes.
Staying there, so comfortable and so tired. You eventually drifted off into sleep, you didn’t mean to.
Joost didn’t wake you, knowing you didn’t want to see him leave. Once 8PM arrived, Joost carefully removed his arms from you. Walking around the bed, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead and tucking the sheets over you. So gentle to not wake you up, only making you stir a bit.
He did as you asked, closing the door as quietly as he could, not locking it before he stepped down the stairs.
You woke up later than you expected, it was nearly ten by the time you turned over and your eyes fluttered open. Instead of being met with Joosts warm body, it was only the cold empty sheets next to you.
You slowly got up and out the bed, going into the living room as you rubbed your eyes of sleep. His suitcase and bags gone.
Sitting down on the couch, you took in the moonlight peeking through the blinds and the sad quietness of the apartment. Hoping these two months would go by as quick as he said they would.

For a moment, he wondered if he might have forgotten something. Perhaps plans had been made during his work day without his knowledge. Maybe he was just home early...no, it was half past nine in the evening. He was home late, if any time hadn't been accounted for.
Why then, couldn't he see nor hear a single sound? How could such a busy home be so quiet, as the sun had only just set? Usually his home was bustling with noise not unpleasant to his ears, especially come the warmer months of summer.
Setting his uniform jacket aside to hang on a peg, and removing the over-the-knee boots to be placed into a cubby designed to hold them off the ground, Levi huffed to himself as his eyes scanned his immediate surroundings.
Before him set the living room, cleaned and seemingly untouched; he'd have to thank his wife later for keeping the place up to his standards, especially with how hard she worked to provide for their children on top of it all.
Every time he saw the evidence of her diligence to keep their home clean on top of her other tasks, he swore he fell in love all the more.
She does so much...I need more time off duty to fully repay her.
Once his gear straps had been loosened, and his dress shirt half unbuttoned under his now untied cravat, he peered into the dining room and then the kitchen; still not spotting a single sign of life. Only a discarded cup sat at the dining room table, and a cleaned pan rested on the stovetop.
At least now he knew his family had been here for dinner.
Surely they couldn't have retired to bed yet? Those brats strive to become nocturnal.
He thought to himself as he meandered down a short hall leading to his boy's room they shared.
Inside, the room was dark and vacant under the faint glow of the moon shining down through their open window, blinds swaying gently in the soft breeze that filtered through and cooled the room.
Not a toy nor article of clothing was out of place. Hell, even their shoes had been stored in their respective sides of the closet they shared.
This isn't right...Though, perhaps Y/N had the time to remind them to tidy up.
By now, a slight furrow had settled onto Levi's brow. Grey eyes squinted through the darkness as he made a last ditch effort to search his own bedroom he shared with his wife for the whereabouts of his family.
It was too quiet. Too clean. Too dark...Just how long had he been in that meeting anyways? Long enough for the sun to begin it's decent across the horizon and miss his family's company? Surely they weren't out on such a night, despite its warmth and full moon. The neighbors were a popular spot to find his family when they weren't in the home, as the couple next door had children close in age to his own. Though, he doubted such an occurrence was the case tonight.
He hadn't seen a lantern lit outside their home on his way to his own door, after all.
But soon all worry and speculation was wiped from Levi's mind when the door to the master bedroom was creaked open.
Sprawled out across his bed lay his family, snuggled up and tangled into impressive positions under the duvet.
In the center of his bed lay his wife, an arm above her head and her lips parted in soft breath.
On either of her sides laid their twins, cuddled close to their mother amidst the mess of pillows and covers.
Normally Levi might have thought the boys were outgrowing their need or want to share a bed with their parents, but considering his growing concern earlier in trying to locate his wife and children, he couldn't help but smile down at the sight of them all so close and cosy.
He could never say no to his wife, much less his own children.
He stared down at them a moment in silent awe, a minute smile adorning his lips. Noting how soundly they seemed to sleep, he opted to slip into the shower for a quick wash up before ultimately joining them for the night. He was a bit of a night owl himself, but how could he resist joining such a warm scene?
Once he was dressed in loose pants and an old shirt, he crept over to the bed in the center of the room and attempted to slip onto the mattress without landing on any sprawled limbs.
And for the most part, he was successful.
Now laid back on one of his son's sides, he gentle scooped his arm around the boy’s back, easily reaching his wife's shoulder on the other side. With a deep sigh, and a small smile on his face, Levi closed his eyes, ready to finally relax for the first time today since the sun had risen.
"Daddy?"
The sudden whisper had Levi's eyes snapping open in an instant, to then peer down at the small voice that spoke it.
He came eye to sleepy eye with his son opposite his wife, who now peered over his mother's form to meet his father's curious gaze.
"Yeah, brat, s'just me." He murmured back, using his free arm to lean over and lightly ruffle his boy's hair.
"You got home late," the boy yawned, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I'm sorry, I got held back. I wanted to be back for dinner," Levi whispered, lightly stroking his thumb over the boy's plump cheek. His son nuzzled into the touch with yet another yawn.
"We missed you...Mom made pasta."
"Mmh...Any left that I could grab for breakfast?" Levi murmured back, smiling despite himself.
"Nope...We ate it all up. It's aaall gone now," his boy confessed with a guilty, sleepy smile.
Humming, Levi merely shook his head.
"I'd rather have you three full and satisfied than having any leftovers for another meal. Get some sleep kid, I'll stay home tomorrow."
A happy hum followed Levi's admission, though the man doubted his son even understood what he had said from how sleep he appeared. And indeed only a handful of silent seconds passed before the boy was asleep against his rough palm.
Though Levi didn't mind; touch from his family was like a balm. And so he was able to sleep soundly this night, silently soothed but the presence and soft breathing of his loved ones tangled in the sheets all around him, warming his heart, mind and soul.

CHAPTER EIGHT | ❝𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏❞
Spring Semester 2016
“Woah, you’re actually alive, Munson?” You were mostly joking with your words, but you tried to keep your voice as serious as possible. After days of missed calls and sporadic texts, you needed to push his buttons a bit.
It shouldn’t have been surprising to see your best friend standing at your door, but it was. The last time you’d seen him was three days ago— which, in general terms, wasn't a long time at all, but for you and Eddie it was. You tried your hardest to not take it too personally, though, because it was just the age-old phenomenon of a friend getting into a relationship. You’d been through one too many situations like that with friends back in high school.
“I’m sorry,” Eddie told you, and you could tell that he genuinely meant it, which made you feel a little bad.
“It’s okay. I’m kidding. I know you’re happily in the honeymoon phase right now,” You said and gave him a small smile that actually didn’t feel too forced.
Every romantic feeling you had for him was stuffed into a metaphorical box that you then buried deep down inside of you, and at this point, you never planned on opening it. You forced yourself to not think about how you felt about him, which made it easier to solely be happy for him.
“I’m still sorry,” Eddie said as he walked into your room, which was actually empty for once. Your roommate had half-mentioned to you earlier that she was going to be gone for the weekend. “I’ve missed you these past few days.”
“I’ve missed you too,” You said, closing the door behind him and then proceeding to ask the question that you didn’t want to ask, but you knew that you needed to. “Where’s Chrissy?”
“Some study group thing right now, and then she has cheerleading stuff for the rest of the night,” He answered and then shifted the subject. “It’s felt weird not seeing you these last few days.”
Aside from the fact that you’d been trying to make sense of the new dynamic between you and him and trying to be completely okay with things being different now, you did simply just miss your friend.
He sat at the foot of your bed and you walked over to him. You two probably should’ve caught each other up on the last few days, but it felt like there was no need for the small talk.
“What was that one movie that you mentioned before and you said that we should watch it?” Eddie asked as he started taking off his shoes. “I think you said Lindsay Lohan’s in it?”
You smiled at the abruptness of the question. “Freaky Friday?”
“Yes, that. We should watch it.”
“It still doesn’t make sense to me how you haven't seen that already.”
“Tonight’s the night.”
“Okay, I’ll never say no to watching Freaky Friday,” You said, heading over to your desk to grab your laptop, and then you joined him on your bed and pulled up the movie. “I think you’re gonna love Lindsay Lohan’s character.”
You two spent most of the night watching the movie, which he ended up liking a lot, and then he proceeded to show you a band that reminded him a lot of the music they used in the movie. And it was in moments like these, where you and he hung out and talked and did the things that had cemented your friendship in the first place, that nothing felt different.

Spring Semester 2018
It was the sun that woke you up. The bright light beaming through Steve’s curtainless living room windows that made you softly groan and want to pull a blanket over your head, but you didn’t have a blanket over you anyway.
It was then that your mind reminded you of where you were and what happened last night.
You rubbed your eyes as you sat up, unsure of when exactly you had shifted to lying down on Steve’s wood floor and placing your head in his lap, using it as a makeshift pillow throughout most of the night.
You thought about the conversation that you two had last night and how nice it had been. It made waking up in his apartment feel a thousand times less awkward than how it would’ve felt if you and he were still in that weird place where moments alone together didn’t feel entirely easy and comfortable. Now you felt perfectly fine.
You stood up slowly in an attempt to not wake Steve since he was still asleep, leaning back against the couch with his eyes closed and lips slightly parted.
Mindlessly, you flicked on the bathroom light when you walked in, forgetting that the power had been out. But, when it actually turned on, you remembered, and you wondered when exactly it had come back.
Your eyes traveled to your reflection in the bathroom mirror, and the fact that you were in Steve’s clothes shouldn’t have surprised you at all, because you vividly remembered putting them on, but it did. You hadn’t actually seen what you looked like last night, so it was slightly startling seeing yourself wearing the gray t-shirt that you now could see said “Hawkins High School Class of 2015” in dark green lettering and the black basketball shorts that you had tied tightly at your hips.
You knew that you probably should’ve changed then, your original clothes from the night before were in a heap on the bathroom floor, but you didn’t really want to just yet. You were comfortable and too tired to make the effort to put back on your jeans or even slip your sweater over your head. Therefore, you simply used the bathroom instead of changing out of his clothes.
As you washed your hands, you noticed the packaged toothbrush that sat on the counter. You smiled at the gesture because you knew that Steve put it out for you, and you had no idea when he did that.
You brushed your teeth and it wasn’t until you were leaving the bathroom, that you thought about what time it was. You were lucky and didn’t have any classes on Mondays, but you remembered at some point during the conversation last night that Steve mentioned having only one class at twelve. And then as if on cue, your phone started ringing on the coffee table, an incessant alarm sound that abruptly filled the quietness that hung in the air— you’d forgotten that you’d even set an alarm yesterday.
You rushed over to your phone to turn it off and hopefully not wake Steve, but he was up by the time you managed to stop it.
“You set an alarm?” He asked, voice groggy with sleep as he looked up at you.
“Yeah, I completely forgot I set one for nine,” You told him. “I did it early yesterday to remind myself to submit this assignment for one of my classes. Now I can’t even do it since I’m here, but it’s fine because it’s not due until midnight anyway. I’m just always so forgetful when it comes to this one Lit class.” You stopped rambling and slipped your phone into the pocket of the basketball shorts. “Sorry for waking you up.”
“It’s okay,” Steve said, rubbing his eyes for a second. “How long have you been up?”
“Ten minutes, probably.”
“Did you have another falling nightmare?”
“Thankfully, no,” You shook your head. “It was the sun that woke me up.”
“Yeah, sorry, I keep thinking about getting curtains in here.”
“That would be a solid idea. If I wasn’t a fake girlfriend, I would’ve probably gotten you some by now. And maybe some throw pillows too. Your couch looks so lonely and sad,” You joked.
Steve gave you an amused look as he stood up. “I don’t think couches can look lonely and sad.”
“They definitely can.”
He was about to respond to your joking words, but then your phone started to ring in your pocket, interrupting whatever he was about to say. You pulled it out, seeing Eddie’s name on the screen.
You brought your phone to your ear as you turned and walked over to the window, the current weather outside made it look as if nothing had even happened last night. “Hey, Eds.”
When you turned around, looking away from the clear sky and bright sun, you noticed Steve heading to the bathroom.
“Hey, want to grab some breakfast?” Eddie asked. His schedule was ingrained in your brain as much as your own was, so you knew that his Mondays were free too. “I can be at your place in ten.”
“Oh, um, I’m actually at Steve’s right now,” You said. “Because of the storm and power outage last night and stuff.”
“Oh…” He responded, and it was hard to read what that simple word meant, if anything. “You can ask him to come too?”
You were quiet for a moment. “Um, okay, yeah. Hold on a sec. I’ll ask him.”
You put the call on mute as you walked over to the bathroom and gave the door a quick knock. “Hey, me and Eddie are gonna get some food. You wanna come too? I know you said that you have a class at twelve, but I figured I’d still ask.”
You heard the sink turn off and then there was a brief pause before Steve was asking, “You want me to come?”
Another pause lingered as you considered that question. “Honestly, I’m not really in the mood to throw on the fake dating charm right now.”
The sink turned back on. “Yeah, same here.”
“Okay.” You walked away from the door then and went back to the living room, settling on the couch and unmuting the call with Eddie as you did so. “He can’t come, but I’ll still go. I’ll text you the address of his apartment.”
“Okay, see you soon.”
You were in the middle of texting Eddie when Steve emerged from the bathroom. He sat down next to you on the couch and you set your phone on the coffee table and then looked at him.
“Thanks for putting out the toothbrush for me, by the way.”
“No problem,” He responded with a shrug like it wasn’t a big deal; which maybe it wasn’t, but in your eyes it was still a nice and thoughtful thing to do. “Eddie’s on his way?”
You only nodded in response at first. “Yeah, so I should probably go change. Also, thank you for letting me borrow clothes. You’re a very great fake boyfriend.”
“Thank you. And if you got me some curtains, I’d consider you a very great fake girlfriend.”
You let out a laugh as you got up and started heading to the bathroom again. “That’s not gonna happen because I won’t be able to reap the benefits of them in a month.”
“I guess that’s fair,” Steve responded, and then before you closed the bathroom door behind you so that you could change he was saying, “You should keep the shirt on.”
“Okay,” You said, not thinking too much about the random suggestion even though you probably should’ve asked why he thought that was a good idea. You were still pretty comfortable in his shirt anyway, so in the moment you weren’t really fazed.
You slipped out of the basketball shorts and put on your jeans, and then stuffed your sweater and dress from last night back in the bag that you brought it in, which sat by the front door.
The text from Eddie came twenty minutes later when you were in the middle of helping Steve clean up the cards scattered across the table. It was quiet right then, but you didn’t hate it, which pretty much said everything without actually saying anything.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。
It wasn’t until you were getting into Eddie’s van that you finally understood why Steve told you to keep on his shirt.
Eddie noticed it immediately and you could tell that he wanted to say something, maybe question you about it, but the slightly surprised look he gave you said enough. The shirt quite literally meant nothing, but it was an easy way to play up your “relationship” with Steve without even having to say anything. It was a great idea and you wished that you had thought of it, but you were glad that Steve did.
“We should go to Frankie’s,” You said since Eddie was still quiet and simply looking at your, Steve’s, shirt. “Their pancakes would be great right now.”
Eddie’s gaze met yours then and he nodded. “Yeah, sounds good.”
That diner became somewhat of a staple of yours when you and him randomly stumbled upon it Freshman year. The only thing that was good was the breakfast— everything else absolutely sucked aside from the milkshakes, but even that was only sometimes. And it was rarely ever busy so you usually always ended up in the same booth.
“I can’t remember the last time it was just you and me here,” Eddie said as he took a sip of his orange juice.
Going to Frankie’s had become a group occasion at this point. The second you met Robin in the Fall of your sophomore year and quickly became friends, it grew from just being your and Eddie’s thing. And then you met Vickie, and then you met Talia, and the rest was history. If one person suggested going, everyone else was probably going to immediately want to join too. The last time you were here was three weeks ago with Robin and Vickie, getting waffles in the middle of the night because none of you could sleep.
But still, you remembered exactly the last time it had been just you and Eddie. However, you didn’t really want to bring that moment up right then, so you attempted to work around it.
“Um, yeah, it was last year toward the end of the semester,” You said and then promptly tried to change the subject. “Anyway, I’m thinking about maybe doing the waffle. When Robin, Vickie, and I were here last it was really good. But, it might’ve also just tasted that way because we were very sleep-deprived.”
Your subject change attempt was absolutely for nothing, though, because Eddie’s thoughts were stuck on the first part of what you said, and then he was realizing by himself. “Oh! Shit, I still can’t believe that I told you about the breakup here of all places.”
You remembered that morning probably way too vividly. He told you with the saddest look on his face and once you actually processed his words— “Me and Chrissy broke up”— you felt sad for him but also the tiniest bit relieved, and you immediately felt like shit for feeling that way because you could tell how upset he was about it.
“But, it’s kind of funny now, I think,” He continued before you could respond with anything.
Hearing him say that confused you and your eyebrows furrowed. “Funny?”
“Yeah, because none of that matters now, so it’s kinda funny thinking back to how fucked up I was about it then,” He said, words sounding completely genuine, and it was honestly pretty admiring seeing how he could look back on a shitty moment and see it in the entirely opposite way. When you looked back on past bad moments in your life, you either felt embarrassed by them or simply the same amount of shittyness. “Also, it’s kind of funny how that moment birthed one of your best ideas just because you were trying to cheer me up.”
You smiled at that. “Thank you for calling my summer road trip idea one of my best.” It had been an impulsively suggested idea that you weren’t entirely even serious about, but it was pulled together in just a week— you tried to remember if going to different national parks had been your suggestion or Eddie’s. But, either way, those five weeks spent driving around marked the best summer you’d ever had. “That whole thing still sounds like the plot of an early 2000s teen movie to me, so that’s probably why I thought of it.”
Eddie nodded. “I’ll take your word for it.”
“You should be very well-versed in those kinds of movies by now. I’ve made you watch the most important ones.”
“We’ve established that important doesn’t necessarily mean good, right?”
“Oh no, please don’t do this right now. I can’t bear to hear you slander She’s the Man again,” You said with a roll of your eyes.
Eddie simply laughed as he held up his hands in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. But, I’m just saying there were some questionable things in th—”
“Shh, I will kick you under the table if I have to,” You interrupted him before he could finish.
It was then that the waitress came over to take your orders, perfectly putting a halt on the current conversation. Eddie got the pancakes, and after a few brief moments of hesitation, you decided on the same.
“Let’s go back to talking about the road trip,” You said before taking a quick sip of your coffee. “And what a great time that was.”
Eddie nodded, smiling at you. “I think that trip proved that we’re great at camping and weirdly good at kayaking, but we suck at hiking and you’re a bad driver.”
“Everything you said, except the driving comment, is very true,” You told him. “But, actually, I don’t know if we can really say that we’re great at camping since we were mainly just sleeping in your van for a lot of the trip.”
“Yeah, but that’s close enough to camping because we were parked at campgrounds.”
You laughed at that. “Very true. We technically did camp.”
You thought about those nights when you two talked about nothing and everything in the back of his van. And then your mind traveled to a different night in a shitty motel room toward the end of the trip, more talks of anything and everything, and stupid old feelings reminding you that they were in fact still there. Which had only annoyed you because you knew that there was no way that that trip was your time to admit anything to Eddie since he was in the middle of mourning a yearlong relationship.
“That entire trip helped a lot,” He told you in this moment and you nodded.
“I’m glad I could be there,” You said, and you meant that completely. It did bring up stuff that you had initially hoped was dead and gone, but you were still happy that the trip itself had happened.
“I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else there.”
You smiled at that. “I feel very honored. And I promise I won’t tell Robin that.”
You expected him to smile back at you and laugh a bit at your joke. But, instead, his eyes randomly traveled to your shirt again before he looked back up and met your gaze. There was a certain look on his face that you couldn’t decipher, which felt so foreign to you because you were usually always able to read him. For the briefest moment, he looked like he was about to say something, lips slightly parting for a second, but then he was looking away from you and focusing back on his drink.
That had never happened before. You were certain of it because it felt way too significant and you knew that you would’ve remembered it. You also would’ve remembered your reaction to what just happened too— the sudden stop your heart did, like it was stalling just for a moment, and then it abruptly sped up; you could feel it pound in your ears. You’d never experienced that before.
It felt as if something was changing, but you couldn’t tell what, and a part of you didn’t even want to try and read this moment. You were scared to once again jump to conclusions and read between what always ended up being nonexistent lines because you really didn’t want to be wrong like you’d been before.
“You okay?” You asked him, even though you didn’t necessarily feel that way yourself.
“‘M good,” Eddie answered, nodding. “Just thinking.”
“About?”
He shrugged then. “Random stuff. Doesn’t matter.”
You wanted to push him further, but you didn’t, and you weren’t really sure why you didn’t. Because later, once you were in your room doing a final proofread of your assignment that was due before you submitted it, you thought back to that conversation with Eddie and the abrupt note it ended on before you shifted it and told him about the project you were helping Robin with for one of her Women’s Studies classes, some survey thing.
And you suddenly wished that you had asked Eddie about the “random stuff” that had been on his mind because now you couldn’t concentrate on this assignment and you just kept rereading the same sentence and for some reason, you now really wanted to know what he'd been thinking about.
You sighed and closed your eyes for a second, taking a quick breath before silently telling yourself to focus solely on reading the essay in front of you.
You were halfway through it when your phone pinged from where it sat next to you on your desk. A text from Steve.
Steve: I hope you remembered to submit your assignment
You smiled at the message, not even the slightest bit annoyed that it interrupted where you’d been reading.
You: Doing it now, actually
You: But thanks for the reminder. Great fake boyfriend!
Steve: Thanks. Wish I could say the same for you, but I’m still waiting on curtains…
You: Once again, never gonna happen
You stared at your text for a few moments. There wasn’t really anything else to say, but you suddenly wanted to say more. Surprisingly, you wanted to talk to him about the Eddie thing, but what would you even say about it?
There was a moment that wasn’t really a moment? Maybe he was about to say that he had feelings for you, or maybe you were being an idiot and looking way too deeply into absolutely nothing?
All of that felt so stupid, and you actually really didn’t want to spiral about it.
Right then, you decided that you actually just wanted to forget about the entire thing instead of talking about it. You were pressing the call button on Steve’s contact name before you could let yourself think about it too much.
He answered on the second ring. “Hey.”
“Hi, so earlier you asked if I had my falling nightmare last night, and I’m just now realizing that I didn’t ask if you had your driving dream. Did you?”
Steve could’ve easily asked why that was suddenly on your mind, and it would’ve been a valid question. But instead, he just answered you. “I was on a boat this time. Just floating around. It was very chill.”
You let out a laugh. “Wow, you’re so normal.”
“Do you remember what yours was last night?”
“Nope, which probably means that it was also very normal,” You answered. “The day that I actually remember a normal mundane dream that I have, I’ll make sure to tell you immediately.”
“Thanks, I’m looking forward to that,” He said, and you were somehow able to hear the amused smile in his voice. “Oh, and I also had another dream too. It was where you finally submitted that assignment for your class.”
You could clearly hear the sarcasm in his tone, which made you laugh. “I am, I am. I just really needed to ask that dream question.”
“Makes sense. Maybe the more I tell you about my normal dreams, the better chances you have of actually having one too.”
“Exactly. You get it.”
“I’m hanging up now. Please go submit that assignment,” Steve told you. “Or if you don’t, at least, don’t blame me for your failing grade.”
You smiled at that. “I promise that all blame will go to myself if I fail.”
“Good to know,” He said and you could practically hear him nodding. “In that case, let’s talk for another hour.”
“Ha ha, fuck you,” You said, still very much smiling, though. “Bye.”
“Bye.”
You finally finished reading your essay and then submitted it. Moments after you closed your laptop and stood up from your desk, you were getting in bed and easily falling asleep without thinking about the Eddie thing, and what any of it did or didn’t mean.

Valentine's Day
A/N: Will I ever stop writing poly satosugu? No. No I won't.
Summary: You had been with your two boyfriends for years, and each February they brought a smile to your face. This year seems a bit different although.
TW: Smut, polyamory, choking, AFAB reader, female reader, alcohol mention, alcohol
W/C: 5,664
Your boyfriends were theatrical, Satoru especially. Suguru, if given the chance, much preferred to do things under the radar and special. But then again he was not above putting on a show for you. Especially if Satoru was involved.
Because of this, it kind of surprised you when neither of them mentioned Valentine’s Day. It was the 12th already and so far there had been no mention of the holiday. You thought it might be because they were busy, but that didn’t mean they would forget, right? You knew you could have said something, but the boys usually planned things. Because of that, you didn’t want to get in the way of anything. So you decided to be discreet about it. You wandered into the kitchen and found them both sitting at the table, meager discussion floating from their lips.
“Hey.” You murmur, fiddling around the kitchen.
“Hi bunny!”
“Hey baby.”
Your eyes flick up and notice the two giving you smiles. Satoru’s eyes brightening up significantly, his smile akin to something like the sun. Suguru’s head tilted, his grin matching something much more graceful. The moon perhaps. Your sun and moon. You supposed that made you their stars, didn’t it?
You narrow your eyes before looking down at a spare cup.
“What do you guys wanna do this week?” You ask, hoping not to be too obvious.
You fill your cup up with water and lean against the counter.
“Oh, there was that new movie I was telling you guys about. It comes out on Tuesday.” Satoru thinks out loud.
“Whatever you want to do baby.” Suguru responds with a tight lip smile, his eyes gently closed.
Had they really not had anything planned? It was odd, but you didn’t want to push it.
It wasn’t like you particularly minded doing nothing for Valentine’s Day this year.
That’s what you told yourself at least.
It was finally Valentine’s Day and you had willfully resigned. This year you were just not going to do anything, and you tried convincing yourself it was okay. You requested the day off in advance, figuring that something would be planned, but it didn’t seem needed anymore. So, you were going to use the day to do nothing.
When you woke up in the morning, your bed was empty besides you. You had long gotten used to the feeling of your bed being filled to the brim, hot and stuffy after a long night's sleep with multiple bodies. Not seeing the two boneheads made you sad.
Your eyes float over to the corner of the room, where you stuffed each other their Valentine’s Day gifts underneath a pile of your clothes. Even if you weren’t going to be doing anything today, you still wanted to surprise them with it.
You get out of bed and patter around the house trying to see if they were anywhere else. Much to your dismay, the house was empty.
Your stomach grumbles while you pad your way to the kitchen. Normally, Suguru would be whipping up a storm in there while Satoru sat nearby to pester him. The kitchen was empty today, much to your chagrin. With a sigh, you grab leftovers and sit on a stool, flicking your phone open once you see Satoru’s name pop up.
“Hey! Thought you were gonna sleep forever.”
“Might’ve if I wasn’t alone.” You grumble.
You hear Satoru chuckle and you look at your food distatefully. The conglomerate of leftovers suddenly becoming the most unappealing thing in the world to you.
“Poor bunny.”
“Where are you both anyway?”
The line is quiet for a second as if Satoru was speaking to someone.
“Just had to pick up a few things for tonight.”
“Okay. Will you make sure to get milk too? We’re out.”
The line cuts to silence once more which confuses you. Usually Satoru had a lot to say, normally you had a hard time getting any words in during a phone call with him. After a couple seconds of silence and what sounds like the phone being muffled, his cheery voice comes back. You and Satoru begin talking again before something rouses you from the conversation. Your doorbell jolts you from the call, but you quickly glaze over it.
“Aren’t you gonna get that?” He asks.
“No, probably has the wrong address.” You say and pick at your nails.
“I'm not so sure.”
For the sake of entertaining him, you hop off your chair and make your way to the door. Once you open it, you find a black shopping bag on the ground. You look at it in confusion before leaning down to pick it up.
“Yeah, no, this definitely is the wrong house.”
Satoru sighs loudly causing you to pull the phone away.
“Just look in the bag!” He complains like a child.
“Alright alright.” You sigh before shutting the door, lugging the bag inside.
Usually you wouldn’t put up much of a fight, but today you were less than amused.
Once you arrive to your room, you plop the bag down on your bed and rummage through it. There was a white card on the top, peaking your interest. Your name was scrawled in gold on the front, the font looking much too fancy, as well as text on the other side. It read, “Your treasure awaits”.
Your heart begins to pick up. Satoru was on the line still, but there was no noise coming from him. With shaky hands you open the bag more, finding something else. As you pull it out you notice it’s a tight black dress, exactly your size. At the bottom of the bag there was another white card. On the front end it said “Suguru’s favorite place.” Flipping it over you see what’s written on the back. “You slid into my heart.”
“Satoru, what is all this?” You question.
“Looks like you have to find out.” He says joyfully, clicking the line, leaving your mind reeling.
You pull the dress on and look at yourself in the mirror. It looked really good on you. The boys really enjoyed picking out outfits for you, flaunting you like their own dress up doll. You didn’t mind really, not when they always paid for it. You hold the card in your hand, eyes flicking back and forth over the lettering. Suguru’s favorite place? He wasn’t very picky, he enjoyed lots of places.
Suguru really enjoyed the museum, you knew that. Images of him walking beside you, reading you all the placards filled your brain. He also liked the cafe that was nestled between stores several streets over. None of those made sense with the clue, though.
With a deep breath you close your eyes and think back. Each thought brought you back to one place. A park he liked seeing.
You stuff their gifts in a bag before setting off.
It was a quaint park. The grass was always green and there was a large field that families enjoyed picnicking at. Off to the side was a playground for children, a long plastic slide crossing the play area. You journey to the playground, eagerly walking to the slide, thinking back to the note that was left in the bag. You see another small bag on the slide and your stomach twists in excitement.
Opening the bag you notice a small box and another note. The note reads “Satoru’s sweet treats” and on the back says “I’m such a nerd for you”. You chuckle to yourself and open the box, seeing a bright necklace packaged inside. The chain was dainty and it held a diamond at the very end, one that shined brightly in the sun. It was hard getting the necklace on on your own, but you were able to manage after a couple minutes.
The next location wasn’t any easier to figure out. Satoru had many places he liked going to for sweets, so it was hard to narrow down.
You think you understood the game now. There would be a present at each location with a card hinting at the next spot. You couldn’t help but notice how the game was so very like the two men. Cheeky, but swirling with romance.
You had no idea why you were so worried they had forgotten the date.
After much inner debate you decided to go to his favorite candy store. It was fairly decent in size as it had to accompany the wide range of treats stored inside. It looked mostly empty when you entered, rows of colorful concoctions lining the walls. Your legs carry you down the aisles while you think back to the hint on the card. It made you want to check for their selection of nerds and sure enough, there was another bag nestled between boxes. This time it was filled with a bracelet, matching your necklace. The employees blush and comment to each other when you walk up, requesting help for your bracelet. They wished you a happy Valentine’s Day and you’re left to exit the store. The idea of Satoru and Suguru coming inside to hide your gift and explaining to the workers what they were doing made you chuckle to yourself.
The day continued much like that, each time you were led across town to find more gifts. The final note was the most confusing. All it said was “back to where it all began” without any other clues on the back side. You thought back to where you and the two had spent your first date. It was a secluded forest, a canopy of trees surrounding the three of you. You remember Satoru laying on his back, Suguru reclined with his hands keeping him up behind him, and you sitting with your legs crossed. You talked for hours.
Once arriving, you find the last bag. Inside was a hair clip, donning an amethyst and a turquoise. The two men fit so well together it was no wonder their birthstones did as well. The card inside the bag only had a phone number on it, so you flipped open your phone to dial it. A nice man answered, asking if you were Satoru’s and Suguru’s girlfriend. With a blush you confirm, hearing an engine starting on the other end. He told you he would be there shortly to pick you up.
This game was fun, and you really enjoyed all your gifts, but you were hoping you would be seeing Satoru and Suguru soon. Material items were nice, but they meant nothing if your partners weren't there by your side.
The car ride was relatively short but still felt extremely glamourous. You rode in a black sleek car, cushions softer than any other vehicle you had been in before. The driver drops you off at a five star hotel, bidding you a farewell before speeding off. You get the room number from the front desk and rush to the room. You nervously look at the door in front of you before knocking on it gently. While you wait, you bounce on your toes and heels and let your mind wander. The game had lasted hours, and your nerves were about to swallow you whole.
The door swings open, the force making your eyes widen in surprise. Satoru stood there in a white button up, eyes wide and frantic.
“Hey.” You speak, your eyes slowly trailing across his body.
Satoru’s hand flies out and grabs you, pulling you into the room. Your back is pressed against a wall and his lips are on yours. Part of you wanted to tell him to slow down, but the way his mouth felt against yours had your mind swimming.
Satoru’s tongue glides out, sliding against your bottom lip before you part your mouth open. His hands roam across your body, not settling anywhere for too long. His presence was overwhelming, suffocating and somehow not enough.
More, you needed more. If it was possible to fuse souls you were sure you would’ve by now.
Your hands clutch his shirt, if it wasn’t as expensive as it was there was a real chance you would’ve torn it.
“Satoru, I was only gone for five minutes.” A familiar voice speaks behind Satoru.
He pulls his lips from yours and stares deeply into your eyes, the tension palpable.
“Couldn't resist.” Satoru speaks, his tone heavy.
He pulls away from you and you feel yourself deflate, body aching for more.
“Our girl is just too beautiful.”
Satoru pulls you away from the wall, presenting you to Suguru. His hands hold your waist still while his chin rests on your shoulder.
You look at the man in front of you. Suguru was dressed in a black button up, his hair swept up into a bun. His fox eyes slowly slide down your body, taking you in.
“You look beautiful baby.” Velvet words grace your ears.
After all this time, still, still he made your heart flutter.
He takes a step forward, lifting up your hand. He intertwines his fingers with yours, before pulling your hand up to place a kiss on your knuckles.
“Happy Valentine’s Day princess.”
Suguru’s words float over to you, but you’re almost too distracted by the both of them to fully understand what he said.
“Thought you guys might’ve forgotten.”
Suguru pulls you away from Satoru and further into the room, and you notice a table in the middle of it. There were two candles placed on top, with three plates spaced evenly. Only now do you recognize a heavenly scent filling the room.
“Us? Forget Valentine’s Day?” Satoru laughs, pulling your chair out for you.
Satoru sits in one of the chairs opposite you, watching as you take everything in.
“It’s possible! I was about ready to order take out all by myself and watch the notebook on repeat.”
“Unfortunately you’re stuck with us.” Suguru graces you with a small grin.
“What’s for dinner?” You ask, watching Suguru carefully lift off the lid over your plate, then moving on to remove his and Satoru’s.
“Steak! Although Suguru insisted on making it himself.”
Suguru raises an eyebrow at Satoru before sitting down next to him. Scents from the meal slowly waft up to your nose, making your stomach grumble.
“I’m pretty sure you told me you liked my cooking better than anyone else’s.”
“And you caved immediately!” Satoru responds cheekily, making Suguru huff in annoyance.
Suguru was stuck trying to defend himself while you and Satoru were ignoring him, beginning to cut your steak. He eventually gave up, grumbling to himself before popping open a bottle of champagne.
“You should’ve seen him. He was running around the big fancy kitchen trying to prepare everything. I wish I caught it on tape. Do you think I could ask the hotel for their security footage?” Satoru rambles, popping a piece of steak in his mouth.
“I can picture it perfectly. How’d they let you in anyway?”
“Satoru bought their silence, he’s a sneaky dog.” Suguru answers, pouring champagne into both of your glasses, purposefully avoiding Satoru’s.
The meal tasted just as wonderfully as you could’ve imagined. It melted on your tongue, Suguru’s cooking never failing to amaze you. You were glad that Satoru convinced him to cook. You had fun eating at restaurants with them, but nothing quite compared to Suguru’s cooking.
“How long do we have the room for?” You ask, looking around at the wide open space.
You had never been in such a fancy hotel before, you didn’t even wanna know how much one night costed.
“Satoru just gave them his card so we can stay for as long as we like.”
“Is there anything your money can’t buy?” You cast a look over to Satoru who was happily humming while eating.
“Nope!”
The rest of the meal you and Suguru poke fun at Satoru, teasing him for treating money so fickly. Your laughter filled the room, making it feel even more homey when paired with the food.
Then again, you were sure anywhere would be home as long as they were with you.
Champagne flowed through your veins and you swore the bubbles did too. It felt like your skin was burst alight, your body floating on happiness.
You hum and reach out a hand, grabbing onto Satoru’s hand.
“Wanna dance.”
His eyes light up at your request and he turns to Suguru. The two men share a look before Satoru is hopping out of his chair, quickly heading towards you. The air of excitement he held only floated over to you, raising you up even higher.
You felt so good.
You kick off your heels and tiptoe carefully to the middle of the room. Satoru’s arms latch onto you, getting in position. It wasn’t long before Suguru strolled over to sit on the bed and watch, his phone held tightly in his hand while he played music.
You couldn’t follow the beat even if you tried, luckily Satoru was there to guide you through it. He teases you, his airy laughter tickling your ear. You could feel Suguru’s gaze on the both of you as he watched his lovers sway back and forth. Satoru’s body felt warm pressed against yours, his firm hand gripping your lower back.
Suguru leaned back and continued to leisurely sip from his glass, affection pouring over his features. He was thinking back to your earlier conversation. Could you really think they would have forgotten? Never in a million years would they forget you.
The room was spinning. No, wait, shit, were you spinning? You didn’t care. Your laughter echoes off the walls as you stand on your tiptoes to attempt to reach Satoru’s height.
You stop for a breather, hand clutched tightly in Satoru’s shirt. Suguru excuses himself to remove the plates of food, wanting to clear up space.
“That was so much fun.” You say breathlessly.
“Yeah? Want to have some more fun?”
You arch a brow but your question was answered before you could even ask it. Satoru had backed you up against the bed, making you collapse on it. You pull him down with you, relishing in the feeling of his full body weight against yours.
“Yes.”
His lips are on yours in an instant, fanning the flames under your skin. You could tell he was restraining himself a bit, his hand clutched tightly next to your head.
“Touch me, Satoru.” Your words leaked desperation.
“Fuck, don’t say that. We gotta wait for Suguru.” His actions don’t align with his words.
His tongue caresses against yours, his skin tingling once his tongue dips into your mouth. He had kissed your mouth billions of times, but each time he did he swore there was new territory for him to mark and explore.
“Can’t keep your hands to yourself tonight, Satoru.” Suguru chides from behind him.
Satoru pulls away and you feel an ache underneath your lips, begging for his lips once more.
“She started it.”
“Yes, we do have a needy girl on our hands, don’t we?”
Satoru moves out of the way, exposing Suguru to you. Your breath hitches at the sinful expression he holds while staring down at you.
His hands reach out to grab you, pulling you up to stand. His presence is overwhelming as he turns you around, pressing you against the empty table. You follow his motions to guide you down, his lips ghosting over your skin.
“Look so wonderful for us darling.” His words muffle against your skin as he places chaste kisses against your neck.
You can feel yourself shake beneath him, desperate for more. He was teasing you, but what kept you through it was knowing how satisfying everything would be once he deemed it time.
“Need it Suguru.” You whimper, fingers dug into his shoulders.
The heated atmosphere shifts, now drowning you in a lake of fire. Suguru pulls you up from the table and makes you lay on the bed. Your skin is prickling in anticipation, staring up at him. He leans down to press his lips against yours, quelling the fire inside. His tongue feels plush against yours as he drags it through your mouth. Suguru pushes your dress up to pull it off your head, only parting from your mouth to get out of the way. His tongue glides against yours and you taste the bitter bite of the drink, and you wondered if you could get intoxicated off the taste of it alone. Then again, you could always get drunk on him.
Suguru pulls back and kneels against the bed, spreading your legs open for him. He dips his head down, pulling your underwear off you at an agnoizing pace. Satoru whistles, causing you to snap your head up to look at where their gaze lay. Your underwear peeled from your pussy, strings of need attaching to it.
“Fuck.” Suguru whispers under his breath as he glides the clothing down your thighs.
You’re suddenly filled with insecurity, wanting to close your legs. Their eyes stared deep into you, mesmerized by your lust.
“Don’t just look…” You whimper.
Suguru refocuses himself and smiles, trailing fingers up your thighs to spread you out.
“My apologies princess.”
You want to scoff but the noise doesn’t make it out of your throat in time before a whimper escapes. You can feel the eagerness building up inside you as his lips ghost over you. The first time you feel his tongue press against you, you let out a guttural moan. It appeases Suguru, his tongue diving in deeper. He laves it against your clit, tasting the sweet nectar you leaked. You watch as the tendons in his hands flex as he clutches your thighs, bringing you down further against his mouth.
Your hole clenches pitifully as he pleases you. The warmth of his tongue teases your clit, moving in a circle.
The bed dips beside you and you see Satoru next to you, his hard cock in his hand. His eyes were glued to the way Suguru devoured you.
“Satoru.” You say in a whiny voice.
Precum leaks from his tip like a faucet, the sight making your heart pound.
You reach up and grab his cock, experimenting with a couple slow strokes. His chest heaves in response, echoes of low moans falling from his lips.
Suguru wraps his lips around your clit and sucks, your heels digging into his shoulder blades. He could feel the way you trembled beneath him, causing his cock to stiffen below.
Not yet, this was about you.
You pick up the pace, tugging Satoru much faster, mind caught between the bliss of Suguru’s mouth and bringing Satoru to the edge.
“How’s he making you feel bunny?”
You hang your head back, unable to focus on anything besides the primal desire within you. Suguru’s tongue strokes against you, working you up.
“Good- so so good.” The words sound foreign coming from you, your throat dry.
“Gonna cum on his tongue, right?” Satoru asks.
You moan louder, your thighs a mess of spit and your fluid.
“Yes, fuck need to cum.”
You squeeze the tip of his cock before sliding your hand down. Satoru whimpers lowly as he tries to not thrust into the palm of your hand.
Suguru dips his tongue once, twice, into your hole before bringing it back up, teasing your clit once more. Your mouth hangs open as you look back down at him, truly believing god himself was between your legs. Your legs twitch on either side of his head while you shamelessly grind further into his tongue, so close you could almost taste it. It rushes over you suddenly all at once and you’re cumming on Suguru’s tongue, body thrashing underneath him as he tries to hold you down. It gives him a burst of excitement seeing how you lose yourself beneath him.
He reluctantly pulls away from you, watching how you glisten below him. You try to regulate your breathing but fail miserably. Heavy hands work their way across your skin, attempting to bring you back down. It looked like the two were exchanging places. Suguru sits next to you on the bed, nudging a piece of your hair out of the way. His eyes were filled with warmth, nothing but admiration and love in the way he looked at you. It almost made you want to shy away from how intense it felt. He looked at you like he didn’t give you an earth shattering orgasm less than a minute ago.
Satoru’s thighs nudge your legs open wider, bringing your attention back towards him. His hairline was lined with sweat, desperation to feel something, anything corrupting his body. His cock stood at attention, in front of you.
“Please let me fuck you princess, need it, need you.” His voice sounded helpless.
You dig your teeth in your lip and nod, eager to feel him inside you. His tip slides down your opening and you force your eyes shut. Pleasure courses through your body, the idea of feeling more made your mind reel.
Satoru slides inside you slowly, his cock beginning to stretch you out. Your mouth hangs open and suddenly you can’t breathe. You could not get enough oxygen. It felt like you were surrounded by their love, surrounded by the lust you three shared.
He moans, struggling to keep his composure. His fists clench against the bed as he bottoms out completely.
A moment of silence is shared between you while you appreciate the other, enjoying how each other's skin felt.
“Ready, bunny?” He asks breathlessly, his patience running thin.
You nod, trapping his hips in between your legs.
He thrusts in, starting to fuck you.
Your moans bounce off the walls around you. You try to grasp onto something, anything to ground yourself. The force of his cock was knocking all the screws loose in your head, you couldn’t think.
His eyes squeeze shut as he goes. It looked like he might have been mumbling something under his breath.
Your clit throbs at the neglect, needing to feel pressure. You grab one of Satoru’s hands, guiding it between your legs.
He lets out what sounds like a breathless chuckle. Taking the hint, he begins to circle your clit with his finger.
Suguru moves on the bed, kneeling behind your head, his cock above your face. It’s inches away, the mere sight of it making you salivate.
“Wanna do something for me, beautiful?” He asks.
Your elbows prop up bringing you closer to him. You close your eyes and stick your tongue out, sliding up against his sensitive balls. He grunts lowly above you. Your mouth felt like heaven to him as you carefully suck his balls.
Satoru picks up the pace, the sight of you pleasing Suguru searing into his brain. He couldn’t focus on all of it at once, it felt like his brain was short circuiting. His hips stutter as he leans forward, desperate to get Suguru’s cock in his mouth.
Suguru’s chest heaves. The sight in front of him bordered on something holy. His two beautiful partners were in front of him, cherishing his cock. How lucky was he?
Your mouth gently glides over, paying attention to both sides of Suguru’s delicate flesh. Satoru slides his tongue against Suguru, feeling his cock twitch in his mouth.
Suguru pulls Satoru off, an audible pop ringing out. Satoru pouts up at Suguru, wanting to suck him off even more.
“Fuck, you have to stop or I’m gonna cum.” Suguru chastises, his eyebrow twitching.
You place several kisses around, ignoring him. Only when you feel Satoru start slamming into you harder do you come back to the moment. He holds your hips, keeping you in place as he molds your pussy to his cock.
You hear lip smacking above you, the sound of Satoru’s moans being muffled against Suguru’s lips. Suguru holds his face steady while his tongue swirls inside Satoru’s mouth. The taste of his own precum mixed with Satoru’s saliva made his brain feel hazy.
“Feels so good, feels so good!” Satoru pulls apart to chant.
Suguru smiles as he watches his boyfriend fall apart in front of him.
“She does, doesn’t she? You should be thanking me Satoru, for allowing you to let you use her first.”
His words have your pussy clenching around Satoru’s cock, making it borderline impossible for him to keep fucking you.
Satoru whimpers helplessly, his hands digging into your tender flesh.
“T-thank you Suguru, thank you!” Satoru’s gulping down oxygen.
Suguru hums, seemingly placated for now.
“You’re so welcome.” Sickingly sweet.
Satoru’s movements lose all rhythm, all reasoning thrown out the window as he chases his high.
“Gonna cum.” He murmurs, looking down and watching how your body all but sucks him in.
“Ask for it.” Suguru orders.
“Please let me cum now, please I can’t, she’s feels so fucking-“
Suguru slides two fingers into Satoru’s mouth and he eagerly wraps his hand around his wrist while sucking.
“What a good boy, of course you can.”
You feel Satoru’s hips stutter before his cum shoots out inside you.
Satoru moans loudly, all noises slightly garbled from Suguru’s fingers. Ecstasy fills your veins as you watch the sight above you. Beautiful beautiful men. His cock stills inside you while he pulls off Suguru’s hand. His body weight feels heavy against you as he leans over, pressing soft kisses along your throat. Suguru whisks himself off the bed leaving you only a moment of reprieve before he took Satoru’s place. He spread your pussy and grinned to himself.
Oh how he and Satoru loved to make a mess out of you.
“How we feeling pretty girl?” His voice calms your body.
You can’t find any words to say so you just grumble and wiggle below him. He chuckles before nodding his head, dragging his hands up your body leaving goosebumps trailing behind.
“So good for us, always so sweet.” He utters praises in between kisses down your chest.
“Just hold on a little bit longer princess.”
His tip rubs through your folds and you feel your body react instantly. Suguru pushes the head inside and revels how your back immediately arches up, hands clawing at his exposed chest.
“Relax, relax. I’ve got you.” He speaks so quietly you swear you feel your heart stop beating for a moment
He lowers himself down until your skin presses against each other. His nipple and belly piercings drag against your sensitive skin as he sinks deeper into you. Suguru’s lips part, mirroring yours while he watches your face contort into complete pleasure.
You try not to acknowledge the fact that his caramel eyes are flicking across your face. You wouldn’t be able to stand it if you saw how much he adored you.
He presses a kiss to your forehead before he begins to fuck you. His cock drags in your walls, Satoru’s cum making it easier to slide through. Suguru tries to keep his composure as he watches you beneath him. He snakes a hand between you two and massages your clit.
Your body jolts beneath him as you moan into his neck. Both of them made you feel so good it almost made you wonder. Were humans allowed to feel this good?
Suguru hits deep inside you, his quiet moans mingling with yours. You look up and make eye contact with him, his pools of caramel swallowing you whole. His fingers speed up and you could feel yourself falling closer. You reach up and wrap a hand around his throat, bringing him down closer to your lips. Your lips smash together while he winces, your hand still wrapped around his throat.
“Fuck, yes, just like that baby.” His voice sounded husky, a combination of the pressure on his throat and the lust that consumed him.
You were going to be sore tomorrow but you didn’t care. You feel yourself start to cum and Suguru keeps pumping into you, bringing you down even more.
“Good girl, good girl.” Your chest twists and turns at his voice.
Suguru listens to the melody of your moans surrounding him while he slams into you. His cock forces itself into you even deeper as it twitches, cum draining out into your tight walls. His cum mixed with yours and Satoru’s, creating something sinful as it leaks down your body. You could hardly catch a breath as he started to drag himself out of you.
You suddenly felt extremely empty and exposed, feeling the two men’s eyes bore into you.
They share two kisses before Satoru is cleaning up between your legs, his loving cooes escaping his lips.
After you get all cleaned up you cuddle in the bed together, basking in each others presence.
“Oh, my gift is gonna seem lame now.”
Satoru turns to you and Suguru’s eyes widen. They hadn’t really expected anything from you. You bought them something every year, but they always told you you didn’t have to.
“You got us something? Where?” Satoru’s voice peaks.
“It’s in the bag by the table.” Your eyelids start to feel heavy.
You sink further into the bed, enjoying the feeling of Suguru’s fingers stroking your side.
Satoru hops off the bed and brings the bag over, rummaging through it. A big box of chocolates, definitely for Satoru. For Suguru, a teddy bear.
“Too cheesy?” You ask, feeling self conscious.
They had got you this hotel room, even going so far as to create a whole game to lead you to them, all of it was better than perfect.
Satoru tackles you on the bed, quickly placing kisses all over your face.
“It’s perfect bunny!” His words are slightly muffled from your face.
Suguru grabs the teddy bear and grins, holding it close to his chest.
Joy bursts from your skin and you try your hardest not to show your excitement.
“Happy Valentine’s Day.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day.” They say back, pulling you close.

The Shoebox Under The Bed
Feb. Request-8
In which Spencer has a box of all of the things Y/N had ever given him and she finds it
Warnings: fluff, kissing, cursing, he gets a lil embarrassed
Spencer Reid x fem!reader
“Babe, do you know where my white heels are?” Y/N asked, walking through her and Spencer’s apartment wearing nothing but one of his shirts and a pair of socks.
It was Valentine’s Day and they had dinner plans. “Uh… check the bedroom closet?” He called from the kitchen.
Y/N hummed and she walked into the kitchen. “Are you excited?” She asked, standing on her tippy toes and kissing his neck innocently.
Spencer smiled and leaned down to kiss her. “So excited.” He nodded.
Y/N damn near squealed. “This is our first Valentine’s together since we moved in with each other!” She said, poking his chest.
“Baby, I love that you’re so excited but it’s 9 am. We don’t have dinner until 7 tonight.” He chuckled.
Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile. “I knoooooow….” She drew out. “I just wanna be ready. Last year I left my place super late and we almost lost our reservation.”
Spencer shook his head. “Okay, babe. Whatever makes you feel better.”
Y/N squeaked and tore away from him, going to look for her shoes.
In the room, she had searched high and low for those heels but hadn’t even found one.
She sighed and spun around, collapsing on the bed. She shut her eyes, groaning loudly.
After a moment, her left eye peeked open when she got an idea. She got off of the bed and got on her hands and knees next to it. She bit her lip and lifted her arm up to feel around for her phone on her bedside table.
She hummed in victory when she grabbed it and brought it down, turning the flash light feature on.
Underneath the bed lit up and she smiled. She moved clothes and blankets out of the way before her eyes lit up. The black shoebox sat there with a picture of the particular heel she was looking for.
She grabbed it and pulled it out from underneath the bed, opening the box quickly. She was expecting a shoe or two but instead she found a stack of Polaroids, letters, jewelry and a bunch of other tiny gadgets.
She bit her lip when she pulled one of the Polaroids out and studied it. She had been obsessed with taking pictures of things with her camera. In this one, Spencer was holding a lemon and wearing a big wicker sun hat. Why? She couldn’t remember but she smiled and laughed anyway. She remembered she gave it to him on the last day of 7th grade.
Spencer and Y/N grew up together. They realized that they were in love at a very young age.
She looked behind her to make sure that Spencer wasn’t watching from the kitchen and then pulled out one of the letters.
She smiled as she saw the little star she’d drawn by her name.
May 23
Dear Spence,
It’s been a while since I’ve seen you. I still have that sweater you leant me last winter. I wear it all the time. I wish the summer would be over so I can see you again. The last letter you sent me, you said you would come back soon but July 17th isn’t soon enough.
Anyway, how’s your Einstein summer camp going? I read that they teach you how to read minds there. Is it true? If so, can you tell me what I’m thinking about now?
I also got cast as Wendy in our schools summer theater program in Peter Pan. If you make it back home in time you might be able to catch closing night. I hope you can. I would love to look out when we’re doing our bows and see you there.
Anyway, I gotta go. We’re running lines.
See you at my show!
Love
From Y/N <3
She rolled her eyes, wondering why she’d scratched the end out even though Spencer could clearly read it. She tossed the letter aside and bit her lip, digging through the box some more.
Her eyes lit up when she picked up a stupid charm bracelet she’d made for him in fifth grade. It had a pair of glasses next to a star and a bead that had an ‘S’ in the middle.
Her tongue pressed into the inside of her bottom lip as she tied off the end of the elastic string. She glanced behind her seeing Spencer reading a book.
Her heart pounded as she turned and walked towards him. “Uhm… Spencer?” She cleared her throat. He looked up at her, pushing up his glasses.
“I-oh hi, Y/N!” He smiled setting his book down.
She held out the bracelet to him, closing her eyes. “I made this for you.” She spoke quickly.
He took it from her gently and her eyes opened. “Thanks! This is really nice.” He nodded at her.
Y/N smiled to herself, peeking behind her again just to make sure Spencer was still occupied in the kitchen.
The next thing she pulled out was a sock.
Yes, a sock.
Spencer in exchange for a book he was reading asked for something that Y/N held near and dear to her heart. She gave him a sock with Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. She almost cried giving it to him and he almost caved and let her keep it AND the book but she told him that it was fine.
She never gave the book back, he never returned her sock.
She put the sock back in the box and kept digging finding a really dried up daisy flower and a wrapper to a Crunch bar amongst many many other things. She paused when she felt something different.
It was a small velvet box. She pulled it out slowly, biting her lip. “What the fuck?” She whispered. She swallowed, opening the box and almost gasped.
A ring and a receipt sat inside that box. The ring was beautiful. It had a rose gold band with a rose colored diamond—a big ass diamond. She read the receipt, not paying attention to the price but the date.
He had bought that ring ten years before. They hadn’t even been dating then.
Her mouth was agape, she was so in shock that she didn’t even hear Spencer coming.
“Babe did you find your sh— oh my fucking shit.” He groaned. Y/N looked up at him slowly.
“Oh my God, Spencer, I’m so sorry!” She said, shutting the box quickly and shoving back underneath the piles of letters and other stuff. “I was just looking for my shoes, I swear!”
Spencer chuckled and sighed, walking over to sit on the bed in front of her. She bit her lip smiling at him, completely disregarding the ring. “You kept all the stuff I gave you.” She said quietly.
He reached down to cup her cheek. “Of course I did.”
She shut her eyes. “And you bought a ring.” She shook her head, her face heating up. “You bought a ring 10 years ago— we were 15 Spencer!” She smiled.
He blushed. “Well… I just— i knew that it was you, Y/N/N. Ever since you made me that charm bracelet in 5th grade.” He shrugged. “So, I saved up all my money from working at the ice cream shack that one summer and I went and bought it.”
Y/N stared into his eyes with a soft smile on her lips. “I love you.” She whispered.
Spencer smiled and leaned forward to kiss her deeply. “I love you.” He said in between kisses. “But you’re gonna have to wait for me to propose because that was the plan for tonight.” He chuckled.
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully. “Fine.”
So at the end of the night, Spencer proposed to her in front of a bunch of people at the restaurant. She acted like she had no idea it was gonna happen so they’d get free cake.

State of My Head 1
Find the series masterlist
Your life is pretty good. Run around as a cat, get into places you shouldn’t, and get back out. Occasionally shift back to human to flirt. And on your way again you go. Until you make the mistake of trotting right into a military base and getting caught.
Warnings: Lying, mentions of hunting and eating small critters, reader is a literal cat (cat shifter), swearing, minor violence, world building, shifter etiquette, some self-deprecating humor, mention of death, threats of violence.
Word count: 4.8k
Eventual Kyle “Gaz” Garrick x f!shifter!reader (I swear this has a happy ending)
Nighttime jaunts were your favorite. Fewer people to avoid, less noise, fun hunting. Plus, as a cat you could see pretty well in the dark. It was great.
Tonight, though, you had a new goal in mind. There was a military base you’d never seen the inside of. And the middle of the night would be a perfect time to explore.
It didn’t take long to find a gap at the bottom of the fence big enough for you to squeeze through. You were small as a cat, no bigger than the average house cat. You trotted past a dirt path, ignored an obstacle course altogether, and finally started sniffing around some buildings. The base was big, larger than you’d anticipated. Interesting.
Also lacking in rodents to chase, at least at this time of night. Damn.
You scaled a perfect tree next to one building, sharp claws making the task easy. One leap and you went from the tree to the roof of the building, padding up to the very top of the roof. Then you sat, curling your tail over your feet, to observe your temporary territory. This was a good spot - you could see a good part of the base, there was a nice fresh breeze up here, and all was quiet.
Honestly, a good napping spot.
You’d just wake up with the sun and be on your way again before anyone noticed you.
Things didn’t quite work out that way. You woke to a creak and a sudden shift in the lighting, sunlight blocked by something. You blinked your eyes open, expecting a shadow.
And found yourself looking instead at a man.
You were on your feet a moment later, hissing as he reached for you.
“It’s okay kitty,” he said, voice soft and easy. “C’mere, I’ll help you down.”
As if you needed help down from the roof! You hissed again for good measure and then bolted, running straight past his outstretched hand and ignoring his shout. You jumped to the tree, pausing to regroup.
An entire group of soldiers stood around watching events unfold. There was some good-natured laughing and teasing as the man on the roof got back down, swearing.
You eyed the drop, thinking about how best to proceed. This had definitely not been part of the plan.
“Here kitty, kitty, kitty,” another man cooed, both hands lifted towards you. “We’re just trying to help. You’re okay. Nobody is gonna hurt you. C’mere, pretty kitty.”
Almost despite yourself, your ears pricked forward, listening to him. He sounded nice, at least. You crept forward slowly, and a few of the soldiers moved closer too. You backed up, and the man hissed at them and flapped one hand at them until they backed off again. So you started forward again, carefully, until you could sniff the tips of his fingers.
Well. He smelled okay, at least. Still moving cautiously, you moved closer, letting him grab you. He was gentle, so you decided not to attempt to murder him. Even better, he promptly cuddled you into his chest, scratching your ears.
Okay. This one could live.
“Wonder where she came from?” one of the others asked, sneaking closer. Not sneaking very well though.
“No idea,” the one holding you said. “Doesn’t have a collar.”
“Could be a stray.”
“What would a stray be doing in here, though?”
“I’m sure there’s mice and things for her to catch, that’s probably what brought her here.”
You let the talking wash over you, amused. This wasn’t bad. You’d let them coddle you for a few more minutes and then be on your way. You could run faster than them, after all.
“What’s all this?”
The soldiers all stopped and turned to look at someone new. He was wearing a silly-looking hat.
“We found a cat, sir,” the one holding you said. Very unnecessarily, if anyone asked you. (They didn’t. Nobody ever did. It was enough to hurt a girl’s feelings after a while.)
“I can see that. It doesn’t belong on base.”
“We thought she might be a stray,” one of the others offered. “We were going to bring her to you, sir.”
He snorted, finally walking over closer, eyeing you. One hand reached out, and for a moment you thought he was going to pet you. Rude, since he didn’t let you sniff his hand first, but whatever.
Except he scruffed you.
You yowled plaintively as he held you aloft, dangling uncomfortably from his hand. Squirming only got you held tighter. This was embarrassing - you hadn’t been scruffed like this since you were a kitten.
“She doesn’t belong on base,” the hatted man said. “I’m sure you all have things to be doing.”
With a despondent scattering of “yes, sir”s, the soldiers all left you to your fate.
“Well, guess you’re stuck with me until I can get animal control out here.” His voice was low and rumbling, and he carried you with him towards one of the buildings. It was really uncomfortable, and you yowled again, trying to grab something to hold on to.
“Captain,” a new person called, and, really, how many people were there on this base?
“Gaz.” The captain paused, at least.
“Why do you–nevermind. Give me the cat, you’re making me sad just watching you carry it like that.”
“It’s a stray,” the captain pointed out, even as he held you out.
Gaz was quick to scoop you up, one arm sturdy under your paws, his other holding you steady. “She, I think,” he said, looking down at you. You blinked up at him, already relaxing again now that you weren’t being dangled about. “Doesn’t look like a typical stray.”
He may not have meant it as a compliment, but you took it that way. You knew you looked striking as a cat, with bold rosettes and spots, eyes and ears rounder and bigger than a typical housecat.
The captain grunted. “Still doesn’t belong on base,” he grumbled.
“Aw, c’mon, cap. Can’t hurt to let her hang around for a few hours.” Gaz shifted his grip on you to let you sniff his fingers. Oh, you approved. And he smelled nice! You liked this one.
“Just don’t let it get into any trouble.” The captain waved one hand, heading back inside.
“You won’t cause any trouble, will you?” Gaz murmured to you, low and soothing. He had a nice voice.
You blinked at him and very deliberately meowed. Human-raised cats did that, and you didn’t want him thinking you were more than a typical cat.
“Good kitty.” He scratched under your chin, and you stretched your neck out to give him more room. Mmm, that felt nice.
“Hey Gaz, whatcha got there?”
“Soap.” Gaz shifted his grip on you just a little, and you blinked at the new person. Soap, apparently. Ridiculous. “Someone found a stray cat on base and I rescued her from Cap.”
“Pretty kitty,” Soap murmured, holding out a hand for you to sniff. Oh good, you’d found the polite ones. “Bit exotic, isn’t she?”
“I thought so too, but she’s well-behaved.” Gaz stroked one big hand down your back.
“Huh.” Soap tickled under your chin. “Ye wanna come cuddle, kitty?”
“Nuh uh, she’s with me.” Gaz turned slightly away from Soap, much to your amusement.
“Ye can share,” Soap wheedled.
“Maybe later.” Gaz smirked down at you as he started walking. “You’re on duty with me, cat.”
Well. Not the worst thing in the world. You did wait until he had stopped somewhere again to crawl up onto his shoulder, balancing across his shoulders easily to watch the world from this new vantage point. He didn’t even protest, just let you get settled there.
And you stayed there until lunch time. Gaz sat at a table with Soap, the two bantering. But you mostly ignored them, because Gaz tore pieces of meat off his sandwich and fed them to you. You accepted each morsel delicately, careful not to bite him by accident, quite content with how this was going.
A good-smelling man hand-feeding you bits of his own lunch? Yes, thank you.
“My turn,” Soap declared once lunch was over, picking you up and cuddling you to his chest. You made a disgruntled noise but decided to show mercy and not kill him.
“Take it easy with her, yeah?” Gaz did not try to grab you back but he did watch Soap as the Scot left with you.
“Well, pretty, let’s torment some rookies, aye?” His fingers scratched through your fur, which was acceptable. For now. But you still scrambled up onto his shoulders as soon as you could, much preferring this to being cradled like an infant.
Soap was okay, but he was a little too handsy. He kept reaching up to rub your fur or play with your tail or even rub his nose into your side. That got him a gentle swat to the head. But otherwise you bore the indignity with aloof grace.
“Johnny, if you're not careful, that cat’s gonna kill you.”
You did not jump at the voice behind you, because that would be undignified. You did not hiss either. You might’ve dug your claws in, but Soap turned too fast anyway.
“Nah, she’s a right sweet li’l thing,” Soap cooed, reaching up to tickle your chin again.
And that was enough of that. You tensed, gathering yourself, and jumped from him to the big masked man, who didn’t even flinch when you scrambled up to his shoulders. Ha! Even taller now!
“Easy, cat.” This one had a nice voice, deep and rumbly. But he let you settle in without touching you, which you appreciated.
Soap was pouting when you looked at him, and you turned your face away from him, haughty. That’s what he got for ignoring your signals to stop.
The big masked man didn’t seem to mind you perching on his shoulder as long as you kept your claws to yourself. And you were well-mannered, so of course you kept your claws to yourself. He didn’t annoy you, after all.
It was an arrangement that worked well for both of you until dinner time.
You spotted Gaz across the room and shamelessly abandoned your current perch, trotting under tables and around soldiers until you could leap up onto the table next to Gaz. You sat, tail curling around your paws, and chirped at him.
“Hi there, beautiful,” he greeted, holding out his hand for you to sniff. You headbutted his palm, eyes half-lidded. He already smelled warm and familiar, like safety.
And, just as you’d hoped, he fed you bits of his dinner. You could get used to this kind of treatment.
“Gaz, I thought you were going to get rid of the cat.” The captain sat across from him, looking disgruntled.
“She’s sweet,” Gaz defended. “And she’s not hurting anything.”
The captain grunted, eyes narrowing at you. “At least get her off the table.”
Gaz didn’t protest, just picked you up gently and settled you on his lap instead. You hunkered down there, gently kneading his thigh. This was a comfy spot.
After dinner seemed to be downtime. Soap once again attempted to nab you, which you deftly avoided by skittering out of the mess hall.
Which meant you had some time to yourself.
You meandered around the base, staying out of reach of the soldiers with ease. Honestly, it was amusing to watch them light up at seeing a cat. Especially since none of them had any idea that you were more than just a cat.
You did a bit of hunting, more for fun than anything. You were still satisfied with the meal Gaz had shared with you.
The base quieted, settling in for the night. And you crept towards the barracks, slipping in an open window and then making your way through the halls, sniffing under every door until you found the right one.
And then you sat and scratched at the door. Politely.
When that didn’t elicit an immediate reaction, you scratched some more. And then stretched up on your hind legs to sniff the handle and see if you could turn it without shifting back to human.
“Hey, kitty.”
You startled, tail poofing up, and spun to look at Gaz. He looked abashed, crouching down slowly with his hands out.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he cooed, gentle and warm. “You looking for someplace to sleep?”
You chirped at him, consciously willing your tail back to normal. You’d still have to groom it later. When Gaz hesitated, you chirped again and threw yourself against his calves, winding between his feet with obvious affection.
Amused now, he opened the door for you, letting you in first.
An opportunity you didn’t miss.
His room was neat, of course. And smelled like him. Which was amazing. You checked under his bed (boring), on top of his bed (pillow was too flat), and even batted at his footlocker (smelled interesting but also closed).
“Mischievous,” he said, still amused. “Alright, if you wanna stay you gotta settle down, right? I need sleep.”
You meowed at him, but made sure you weren’t too loud. That would count as agreement, right?
He ran gentle fingers over your head and behind your ears before he turned to start undressing. You thought about watching… but gave him his privacy, turning instead to sniff the rest of his room. Humans were so body-shy, for reasons you’d never understood.
The bed creaked, and you trotted back and jumped lightly onto the bed. He laid down, getting comfortable, and you followed suit.
You only took up part of his pillow.
“Cat,” he spluttered, one hand gently nudging you to the side. “Oi. I need to breathe, yeah?”
You lifted your head to give him a supremely unimpressed look.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he grumbled. “This is my bed.”
You put your head down again and closed your eyes, pointedly. He huffed something between a sigh and a laugh, but he settled down and stopped moving. You took it as agreement.
You woke when he got up, stretching out and giving him a bit of privacy to dress for the day again.
“Don’t think I can keep you with me all day,” he admitted, reaching over to pet the top of your head again. “Probably don’t wanna come running with me.”
No. No you did not. Smart man. You rewarded his intelligence by headbutting his hand.
“Well, tell you what, I’ll see if I can spot you for breakfast, yeah?” He smiled, scratching under your chin gently. “Just don’t let Price catch you, he’ll toss you out.”
You purred your agreement. You couldn’t entirely blame the captain - he just didn’t seem to like cats. (You could take that personally. It was in your nature to take that personally. But you decided to be the bigger person here and simply decide he was tasteless.)
So you had some time to yourself. You avoided the many feet and scaled the nearest tree, using trees and rooftops as your highways. The day was beautiful, sunny and not too warm, and you found a good napping spot on top of a roof. Out of sight from below, this time.
You did not show up to breakfast, because you didn’t want to be too predictable, but also because you didn’t want to seem too smart. So you napped through breakfast, content to just lay in the sunshine.
You could get used to this kind of life. Quiet. Having your own territory, not having to fight for space or food. Especially being hand-fed by a gorgeous man.
But then you also ran the risk of being discovered, if you stayed. And that could end poorly.
Someone wearing a new cat scarf kind of poorly.
You stretched languidly before getting to your feet. The safest thing to do would be to stay another day or two and then be on your way. If you really wanted stability, you’d find somewhere in a city to be a human too, carve out your own space as both cat and human.
It was something to consider, at least.
Going across rooftops, you investigated more of the compound. You could smell the shooting range, making your nose wrinkle and your ears flick back. But you gamely kept on, sniffing around and exploring.
This really was a good spot, though. No competition. Lots of room to roam.
And mice. One of which you caught, shaking until its neck broke. You weren’t really hungry, didn’t need it for kittens or anything.
So you trotted off to a quiet spot near the fence and buried the mouse.
By the time you meandered your way back, the sun was high in the sky. Probably lunch time. Mmm. Hopefully Gaz would agree to give you food again.
You peeked into the mess, looking for your person. He was, of course, near the back, with Soap and Ghost (although Ghost didn’t have food in front of him). Pleased, you trotted over to the table, tail held high.
“Hi kitty!” Soap reached one hand down, wiggling his fingers at you, clearly trying to tempt you closer. You ignored him and jumped into Gaz’s lap.
“Looks like she likes him better,” Ghost drawled.
“She has good taste,” Gaz agreed with a proud smile, offering you his fingers to sniff. You headbutted his hand before tipping your head to invite chin scratches. He obeyed easily. Such a good human, you really needed to think of an appropriate way to reward his good behavior.
Especially since he once again began offering you pieces of meat.
“Gonna spoil her,” Ghost warned, though he made no move to actually stop Gaz.
“She’s just a cat,” Gaz said with a shrug. “Besides, if she’s really a stray, she might wander off again.”
“Not likely, with how you’re feeding her.” Ghost watched as you delicately took another piece of lunch meat from Gaz.
“She’s fine.” Gaz smiled down at you. You slow-blinked up at him, warm and content.
And he let you ride around on his shoulder the rest of the day, so long as you kept your claws to yourself (which you did).
You could get used to being a shoulder cat.
You spent the next two days similarly - hunting for fun and to keep your reflexes honed, eating the bites Gaz gave you, running around base, and sleeping on his bed. If you hadn’t given up on the concept of having your very own person, you would have wanted someone like Gaz. Someone who treated you gently, and gave you room to be your own cat, and gazed at you with affection.
But it was not to be. For one thing, he thought you were a cat. For another, you knew you needed to move on soon, before you got any more attached.
You stretched in the early morning light in Gaz’s room, and then blinked. Wait. Something felt wrong about that stretch.
Your hand bumped Gaz’s shoulder and you blinked again. Hand. Not paw.
Oh fuck.
Gaz opened his eyes, still sleepy, and you froze, your own eyes wide. He blinked once.
And then yelled, startled, falling out of bed. You yelled too, because oh shit this was bad. You dove off the bed, uncaring that you were human and nude, and yanked the door open. You shifted mid-step, skittering on the slick floor for a few moments as you tried to get enough traction to run.
By now other doors were opening, people looking out in sleepy confusion. You were half-way down the corridor when you heard Gaz behind you shout, “Get that cat!”
Soap got close, attempting to straight-up tackle you. He almost managed it, except you swiped at his hand and then used him as a platform to leap off.
Your paws didn’t even hit the floor as Ghost grabbed you out of mid-air, scruffing you firmly. You yowled, as loud as you could manage, twisting and fighting like hell. At least until someone swaddled you in what smelled like a t-shirt, forcing you to stillness. When your claws poked out through the shirt, a towel was added to the mix.
Leaving you thoroughly burrito’d and helpless.
“Gaz?” Soap asked, even as he took you from Ghost. “What the fuck, mate?”
“Price’s office,” was all Gaz said, staring hard at you. You flattened your ears to your skull, growling low and threatening. It was all you could do in this position.
The three made their way to Price’s office, still sleep-rumpled but wide awake now. Price joined the group, unlocking the door and ushering everyone in.
Gaz deliberately locked the door again.
“What’s this about?” Price asked, arms crossed over his chest.
Gaz, however, was staring at you. “Change.”
You hissed a little, trying to wiggle out of your forced cocoon. You had no idea what would happen if you shifted while you were so tightly wrapped, but you didn’t think it would end well for you.
“Put her down.” Gaz flicked his gaze to Soap before focusing on you again.
Soap obeyed slowly, putting you on the couch. You immediately rolled to loosen the towel and then wiggled your way free of the layers of fabric. A quick glance around showed no way out.
This was going to be unpleasant.
You shifted back to human, wrinkling your nose at the shift in perspective. Soap swore, Price grunted and stood up straight, and Ghost pulled a gun on you. Where he’d had it, you had no idea.
“Gaz?” Price demanded, low and furious.
“Apparently, she’s not a cat.” Gaz was still staring at you, lips thin, jaw clenched. Oh he was angry. “Woke up to her like this.”
You sighed. “Shifted in my sleep,” you admitted. No point denying it now.
Price’s jaw clenched and he grabbed one of the extra chairs, pulling it over until he could sit in front of you. With the three others behind him, it was quite clear who was in charge here. “Put that on.” He nodded to the shirt still laying next to you.
You huffed but obeyed. Humans and their weirdness about nudity. Honestly. The shirt was soft at least and covered you well enough.
“Why are you here?” Price watched you carefully, but you were less concerned about him. Your gaze drifted to Gaz, taking in the tense line of his shoulders, the anger in his eyes.
“I was curious.”
“Yeah? About what, exactly?” Gaz asked, voice sharp.
You didn’t flinch, but you did look down. “This is unclaimed territory, figured I’d stick around for a few days, do some hunting. Relax. And then move on.”
“Hunting, huh?” Price leaned forward. “And who have you been contracted to hunt?”
“What?” You blinked at the non-sequitur.
“Or you could just tell us who’s paying you.” Gaz rocked forward a little on the balls of his feet, hands clenched into fists at his sides.
You blinked. Twice. “You… think I’m a spy?”
“Fits, doesn’t it?” Price tipped his head a little, restrained violence in his eyes.
“Not really.” You leaned back, drumming your fingers against your arm. “Look. We don’t like people to know we exist, that’s how we got nearly hunted to extinction before. I’m not a spy, I really was just wandering through.”
“Wandering through a top security military base. Sure.” Gaz sounded unimpressed.
“Really!” You held your hands up, palms out, at your sides. “I haven’t got a clue about anything here, except that the food is pretty good and I don’t have to fight for the territory.”
“Then why were you sticking so close to Gaz?” Price again. The two were doing pretty well at tag-team questioning you.
You shrugged, struggling to put your thoughts in order. “He smells good,” is what you settled on. At the disbelieving scoff from Soap, you shrugged again. “He never smelled… wrong. Angry.” You couldn’t help looking at him again. Sure, your sense of smell was muted as a human, but you could still smell well enough to smell the anger pouring off him now. “It’s hard to explain.”
“You expect us to believe that you chose Gaz, at random, because he smelled nice?” Price raised one eyebrow slowly, conveying exactly how foolish it sounded.
“That and he never grabbed me.” You grimaced. “Things are simpler. As a cat.”
Price leaned back in his seat slowly, considering. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t have you arrested and shipped off to a lab.”
And there it was. Well. At least it came from Price and not from Gaz. You weren’t sure you’d recover if it came from Gaz. “Being turned into a scarf isn’t on my list of things to do this year.”
Soap was the first one to get it, his eyes going wide. He glanced at the others, shifting his weight. Gaz stayed perfectly still.
“Cap,” Soap murmured.
Price pushed to his feet, narrowing his eyes at you. “Do. Not. Move.” The four of them moved, stepping out of the room, although Ghost remained in the doorway, both blocking your exit and keeping his gun on you.
He was absolutely prepared to shoot you. You were absolutely prepared to be shot before they could ship you off to a lab.
Unfortunately, they spoke too quietly for you to hear much, just the murmur of their voices. Gaz still sounded angry. Maybe one day he’d forgive you.
Sighing softly, you closed your eyes for a few moments. This was a right mess, one you’d be lucky to make it out of with your life. How many had you used up by now? At least five. At least.
Here’s hoping you still had one left.
They must have reached a consensus, because they trooped back inside and shut the door again. Price sat again. This time Gaz stayed back, arms crossed over his chest.
“You have two options,” Price told you, calm, collected. “You tell us everything we want to know, or you get sent to a lab.”
“I’m not telling you where to find my family.” You narrowed your eyes at him, testing.
Price didn’t respond to that. Instead he started asking you where you’d been before. Who you knew. Who you saw. Where you stayed.
Most of it was easy to answer - you’d spent most of the last two years as a cat. You hadn’t been kidding when you said life was less complicated as a cat. Food was less of an issue when you could hunt for yourself.
The questions about how you shifted, though. Those were harder. You gave as little detail as possible, very well aware that they could hypothetically use that information to find others.
You had no idea how long you sat there answering questions. A long time. Hours. Long enough for your throat to go dry, for your stomach to complain. Both of which you firmly ignored.
Finally, though, Price nodded once. “You’re to stay with one of us until further notice. Any attempt to leave will have you shot. Any attempt to shift without permission will have you shot. Understood?”
“I understand.” You shifted your weight, part of you railing against being threatened. The rest of you was far more pragmatic and simply accepted it.
Still better than being sent to a lab.
“Good.” Price stood and fished out a pair of sweatpants, tossing them to you. “Put those on.”
You obeyed silently, though you had to roll them a few times so they didn’t trip you. Price stepped out of the office first, and you followed quietly.
The meal that followed was easily as tense as the last one you’d had at home. And silent. Nobody seemed inclined to talk, and you weren’t going to be the first. You just picked at your food, absently wishing to go back to the day prior, when you’d settled on Gaz’s lap and eaten morsels from his fingers.
Damn you were in deep. That was a problem. Especially considering you could tell he was still mad at you.
“Stay with Soap,” was all Price told you as he rose. Gaz was quick to follow his captain without a single look at you.
Ouch.
But you stayed with Soap. Because you did not want to get yourself shot just yet.
“Ye really were just gonna leave?” Soap finally asked, once the two of you were outside, walking around base. He didn’t seem inclined to hold still, something you were rather grateful for. After the stress of the morning, stretching your legs felt nice, even if it was only two legs.
“Yes.” You shrugged. “I’ve spent a lot of time wandering. Wasn’t planning to settle down just yet.”
He went quiet again at that, and you let him think. You had your own things to think about, after all.

Daryl read you like a book.
Vamp!Daryl x reader, smut
It came naturally with how long the two of you had been together these days. Since before the dead started walking the two of you had been inseparable. You had plans for your future, but those got ruined when the dead first rose.
The hopes came and went with each and every new settlement. From the quarry, to the prison, the farm inbetween those, but none stuck long enougg to deem it safe enough. Not for a huge the commitment of having a child.
Those dreams were nothing but old memories now, with Daryl's newest issues he got from running into an even less friendly kind of undead not long before arriving in Alexandria. A kind that stopped Daryl's heart and lowered his core temperature to thst of a dead man and gave him a thirst for human blood. You came to the realisation it ruined even more of Daryl's human functions after you tried so hard now that you finally had a safe space but the seed never took.
Daryl saw through your lies of being okay with it. The everlasting chants of "It's better this way." But he knew how much it hurt you. Before the world ended your eyes would have that sparkle in them whenever you saw mothers with their babies but now that sparkle turned into tears threatening to spill.
It was the worst during the times Rosita and Michonne had just given birth, seeing them breastfeed their little ones with the most love and adoration you had ever seen.
There were times you thought Daryl was still out and cried yourself to sleep, but he heard you each and every time.
"Yer starin', hun." Daryl held your waist as you both stood in the doorway of the community hall where Daryl had gotten stuck by accident this morning. The meeting took so long it went on till morning, so you came to visit him.
A sad sigh left your lips as you looked away from the woman across the street who was feeding her baby and enjoying the sun on the porch. "M'sorry.. I gotta head out anyways, guard shift." With a last kiss you left your partner at the door, only seeing him again after the sun had set late in the evening.
You were settled in bed already with a novel by the time he got back. Daryl left his shoes at the door. His vest on the back of the usual dinner table chair and his shirt was in his hands when he made it up the stairs.
"Hey, welcome back." The smile on your face was the only thing that still warmed his cold, dead heart, and he was determined to cheer you up and make that smile a genuine one tonight.
"Hi, hun.." His voice gave away his lack of strength. He hadn't fed since the meeting started, close to twenty-four hours earlier. He needed to feed, and you'd happily give him what he needed so you put your book away and offered him your arm where old puncture wounds sat in varying stages of healing.
But he didn't bring your wrist to his mouth ad he settled on the bed. His hand moved along the length of your arm and down your torso to take off your top, exposing your upper body.
"Daryl, what are you doing?" The two of you hadn't been intimate in a long time, not wanting to be reminded of the hurt it caused you both. "Jus' relax, lemme make it nice fer us both."
Daryl's words had your curiousity piqued and your eyes following his every move from where he started at the edge of the bed to where he now moved to lay on top of you, umderneath the blankets.
"You're being weird." With a smile on your face you kissed the top of his head as he planted kisses on your chest.
"M'bein' nice." Daryl's hands were on your waist , then on the sides of your ribcage before they ended on your chest, squeezing, kissing and licking all over them. You let out a moaned laugh at the tickle of his fingertips and rolled your hips up against his stomach making him growl deep in his throat.
You never watched while he fed. The sight of his monstrous side wasn't one youbwanted to remember may something ever happen to him, but now you watched.
The veins under his skin blackened, spreading from black scleras that surrounded deep red irises. His normally stubby fangs were now long and sharp, ready to bite down and feed from you. His ears had pointed and so had his nails that softly clawed at your sides.
He dragged his long, pointy tongue across one of your tits with a pleased hum at your shiver, grinning so wide it looked like his face had split open. Still, with the gentlest touch he kissed your nipple.
You watched as he opened his mouth. Watched as his fangs pierced your skin, just above your nipple and latched onto it.
You watched as he fed from you. Mimicking a newborn feeding off their mother. Your hands moved on their own, caressing his cold flesh, tracing the scars on his back as he laid with his arms wrapped around you for warmth.
You felt his hard cock against your leg, but he disn't seem bothered by it in the slightest. He was content just feeding and pleasing you in the meantime. He fed off your blood and warmth, giving you all that you wanted.
The need to nurture, but also the realization that even without a child of your own, you had someone who needed you.
His monstrous outside no longer scared you, knowing what laid underneath would never think of hurting you. Your lover had changed over the years, you had lost your personal heater and with that the chance of starting your own family. But you gained a protector, one who may never suffer from a walker bite but needed you more than anything to keep walking beside you.
He needed you as much as you needed him.
So from now on, you watched.

FarmboyBakugo! // Who happily tapped his fingertips against the side of his steering wheel as he drove home along the dirt road. Turning up the music as he glanced to the left of him at the blue lake that ripped through the countryside, how the setting sun sent ripples of shiver along its length. As mundane and gray as life had gotten seeing this view at the end of every day never ceased to amaze him. He turned the truck onto another dirt road, the light from the sun flickering every second as the tall trees began to envelop him. He sighed as he pulled his pickup truck into the driveway of the little house on an Everglade late into the afternoon. He took out the keys from the ignition and hopped out of his truck, the sound of the heels from his boots clicking against the wooden deck of the house as he walked up the porch stairs.
FarmboyBakugo! Who As soon as he was in the house, began kicking off his boots and throwing his cowboy hat on the coffee table of the living room. Running his hands through his blond hair and leaning back on the comfy couch relishing the quietness of the house.
FarmbouBakugo!Who was surprised to hear the crackle of thunder outside his bedroom window as he dried off his hair with a towel after taking a long thoughtful shower. Who threw on some blue plaid pajama pants and walked downstairs shirtless, reluctantly putting the kettle on the stove and taking out some frozen chicken nuggets from the freezer, throwing them in the air fryer. Who muttered a silent “Fuck” when he saw your caller ID pop up on the screen of his phone.
FarmboyBakugo!Who answered your call with an immediate smile on his face. You greeted him with your usual flirty undertone.
“Do you have any plans for tonight?” You said at the other end of the line. Bakugo could almost hear the fervor in your voice and decided not to act on it. As it would come again later, as it usually did on nights like these.
“Unless they're with you? Then no.” He said roughly.
FarmboyBakugo! Who knew for sure you had probably rolled your eyes at that remark. Then again, he knew you relished the fact that he was so open with his insatiable longing towards you. You had known each other so long that it wouldn't make sense to hide it. He heard the shuffling at the other end of the line that sounded like the light thump of clothes hitting a bathroom counter and the flush of water coming out of the faucet. It wasn't until he heard unzipping and unbuckling that he knew what you were doing.
“I was wondering if you wanted to have another……movie night.” The pause you took before you said the last two words left Bakugo with the most horrifying smile on his face and the sound of his deep rough chuckle echoing through the kitchen. “Movie night huh?”
“If you're up for it.” You said.
“Always baby, always.”
FarmboyBakugo! Who upon getting off the phone with you, sat on his couch and hastily ate his air fryer nuggets and drank his tea. He thought about how dirty and raunchy it was when this…. routine…between the two of you started. It’s not like it had gotten less electrifying as time went on. If anything he yearned for it throughout the days that passed. How ferocious and cold-blooded he thought of himself to continue as if you were little to non-existent after each act. Telling himself that this was okay because this is how you wanted it. How you persisted that this would be the best for both of you. How it would satiate the twisting uncompromisable craving of
Each other.
FarmboyBakugo! Who went up to his bedroom and pulled his laptop out of his desk. Turning off all the lights and lighting a candle on the dresser. If it’s, one thing Bakugo wanted in his home it was ambience and peace. He settled into bed and waited for you.
FarmboyBakugo! Who answered your call and felt the lump in his throat form as soon as your camera on his laptop screen turned on. You were always unmerciful in the way you showed yourself to him. Always tantalizingly out of reach. Your doll eyes had that lewd look in them like they always did. The camera showed the top half of your body, just enough. A tight black lace tank top hugged you. Your boobs were pushed up to the moon by the blanket you were hugging to your chest. Your hair was down and cascading around your face in a flattering way.
“Bakugo…earth to bakugo” You said on the other side of the screen. Waving your hand around in the eye of the camera with an unwavering smile on your face.
“Sorry baby, what’s up?” Bakugo said positioning the laptop adjacent to him on the bed. He made sure you got a full view of his naked chest and a partial view of his crouch.
“I said which hunger games movie should we start on?” You said squinting at your computer. Bakugo could see your laptop screen as you scanned through the illegal movie streaming site.
FarmboyBakugo! Who just watched you in pure bewildered amazement. He wondered how long it would take this time. He wondered if it would even happen tonight, if the night would just consist of wholesome movie watching and witty banter…….
Well, that's definitely not how the night went.
Farmboybakugo! Who’s pre-cum was wasted on the sheets around him, the squelching wet sounds of him fisting his cock filled the room along with the rain pattering outside. Who’s blond hair was plasterd to his face with sweat as he watched you fuck yourself with your fingers, whimpering his name on the other side of the camera.
“C’mon baby, fuck yourself harder show me how badly you want this cock, yeah?”
His mouth parted in ecstasy as he watched you spread your legs wider for him. How the sight of your tits bouncing as you fuck yourselff with more pace went straight to his cock.
“It’s so hot when y-you talk to me like that” You moaned.
Farmboybakugo! Who with more praising, convinced you to pull put the dildo he had gotten for you. Who marveled at the way the veins of his dick pulsated as he watched your pretty pussy sink itself on to the dick that resembled his own. Who barely managed to mewl out another “Your such a good girl for daddy, Yeah?” as he watched you writhe with pleasure as you steadily bounced yourself.
As much as he wanted to be serious in a time like this. He couldn't help but chuckle at the reminder that the movie was still playing. How the movie wasnt even 30 minutes in before the flirty undertones became full on “What were you do to me if i were next to you” exchanges. His heart fluttered a little knowing that you were impatient for him too.
Farmboybakugo! Who almost died on the spot when he watched you maneuver yourself to where your back was facing the camera. Whose eyes zeroed in on the curvature of your ass, as if he hadn't seen it in this position many times before…and even closer at times if he might add.
“That’s all f’me right baby?” He said.
You turned around to lock eyes with him through the camera rolling your eyes and shrugging your shoulders with a smirk on your face. As if you were saying “What’s all for you?Who even are you again?”
Farmboybakugo! Who wanted to grasp that little neck of yours in his big hands and fuck you until you were tired of saying his name. Who yelled at your through the screen to start bouncing on that makeshift dick of his before he decided to stick his cock back into his pants.
Katsuki bakugo who sat there with you in the aftermath. Who after making you cum one last time watched as you cleaned yourself up and walked your naked body back into bed and stared back at him through the camera. Katsuki bakugo who would kill to be able to reach his hand through the screen and kiss your lips again, pinch your cheeks and whisper to you all the things that lingered in his heart at night.
Katsuki bakugo who’s favorite part about this routine were the conversations that seemed to last until the sun rose. As this one did and many others to come. As he watched you lull yourself to sleep, he started to make a mental note of all the loose ends he needed to tie before he came to you. It didn't matter if you weren't ready……as he would always be ready…for you.

Roronoa Zoro x reader
The worst he can say is no
Tags- Angst, heartbreak, crying, self-hatred
W.C.= 1.1k
Part 1/3
The sea left a salty taste on my lips. I licked them with nervousness. Today was the day. That stupid swordsman has plagued my mind for far too long.
“Just do it!” Nami says as she looks up from the map. She’s the only one who knew about my crush. Usopp once asked but I was able to distract him from it.
“I’m so nervous,” I sighed into my palms. My hands cradling my face, sitting on a crate. Nami laughed at my worry. She has been so helpful.
“I’ve seen how he looks at you, the feeling is definitely mutual,” the ship's navigator chimed. She has been telling me some things about Zoro. How he’d look at me when I wasn’t or always protect me from any size threat. Nami is convinced that he likes me too, if not more.
“I’ll do it tonight!” I planned while straightening my posture. My nervousness was melting away. Nami has convinced me that he likes me back or she just fed my delusion.
“Worst he can say is no,” Nami said in a sing-songy tone. I hopped off the crate and stretched my legs. Tonight was the night I finally spoke my mind. That mosshead will know how I feel. And he might or might not reciprocate the feelings. Either way he’s a good friend of mine.
“Thanks Nami!” I shouted at her, she gave me a thumbs up without looking away from the map. The sun wasn’t too high in the sky. Night will fall soon.
-
Sanji cooked such a mouth watering meal, like always. I sat at my usual spot next to Zoro. We made light conversation. Usopp stole Zoro's attention with a totally true story. I was able to see Sanji yell at the captain for nearly eating all the meat.
Once the crew settled down, it was time for my plan. Usopp and Luffy went to bed. Sanji was cleaning dishes. Nami was reading in our room, waiting for me. Me and Zoro remained on the upper deck. God, he is breathtaking. I hoped I looked just as good. Nami had helped me doll up a little for today.
“Why are you still up?” The swordsman asked. My heart fluttered at his concern. God, I was nervous again. I hadn’t even said anything yet. He was staring at the sea, leaning on the railing.
“I wanted to tell you something,” I faked confidence. I held my shaky hands behind my back. He took his attention from the water and turned to me. He straightened his posture a bit. He nodded his head in my direction. Signaling me to continue. I swallowed back the rising fear. I met his gaze.
“I have feelings for you, Zoro. I’ve had them for a while,” I said with more nervousness than before. My palms began to sweat, face turning a shade of red. My words seemed to still be connecting in his head. He tilted his head a bit, brow furrowed slightly. My crooked smile slowly faded.
“Okay?” Was all he said. There was a tone of uncertainty. My heart was racing.
“I-I just wanted to let you know!” I stumbled over my words, internally facepalming. His hands folded across his chest. I gulped.
“My goal is to become the best swordsman,” he began in a degrading tone. Taking a small step towards me, “Not to become your boyfriend,” his words held venom.
My world was crashing. It felt like everything around us was being consumed with darkness. My eyes widened. He had never been this mean to me. It was a common joke on the ship that he had a soft spot for me. My breathing became uneven. My chest was heavy. the weight hadn’t been taken off my shoulders.
“R-right! Sorry,” I spoke, my head hung low. My eyes began to water. How stupid of me. I turned around. Slowly making my way to Nami. Making my way away from here. Of course he didn’t like me. I’m not strong like him. Not smart like Nami. Definitely not as beautiful as her. My thoughts were cloudy.
I opened the shared room. Nami sitting on the couch waiting for the news. I closed the door. Head still looking at the floor. I dragged my feet to my bed.
“Y/n?” Nami's voice cut through my cruel thoughts. I slowly looked at her. She gasped. I was crying. I was pathetic. I am disgusting. No wonder he hates me.
“It’s okay, everything is ok,” She wrapped her arms around me. She pulled away, holding my head in her hands. Making me stare at her. She gave me a soft smile. My heart was broken. It was stupid to think he liked me. Thee Roronoa Zoro, The three sword bounty hunter turned pirate.
I cried in Namis arms.
Zoro’s POV
That stupid long nose stole me away from my conversation with Y/n. I didn’t care what we were talking about, as long as I got to talk to her.
The ocean looked darker than usual. I had a bad feeling about something. Footsteps came up the deck. I didn’t need to look to know who it was. Why was she awake? She needs to get some sleep.
“Why are you still up?” I asked her.
“I wanted to tell you something,” that piqued my interest. I looked at her. God, she’s beautiful. She had changed since dinner. She looked a little fancy, but beautiful. I fixed my lazy posture. I nodded my head for her to continue.
“I have feelings for you, Zoro. I’ve had them for a while,” she confessed. My heart skipped a beat. Did she really just say that? I didn’t let my composure falter. Do I tell her my feelings? She was waiting for my response. Her cute smile was going away.
“Okay?” I said with a bit of confusion. Was she going to ask for something more? Something more from this friendship? I hope so.
“I-I just wanted to let you know!” She stuttered over her words. Cute. I should tell her how I feel. Tell her that I’ve been thinking the same. I can’t take my eyes off her. She’s perfect. Even when she’s this nervous.
“My goal is to become the best swordsman,” I began in a degrading tone. What am I saying? Taking a small step towards her, “Not to become your boyfriend,” my words held venom. I didn’t mean that. That’s not what I wanted to say. My words were betraying me. I could tell that it hurt her.
“R-right! Sorry,” Y/n said quietly. I wanted to scream at myself. Why would I say that? Her eyes started to water. Was she crying? My heart sank. Y/n was crying because of me. I have seen her take a bullet and not cry. I was the one to make her cry…my stupid mouth can’t do anything right. She turned away. I wanted to reach out and hold her. Tell her that I care and like her.
She left. She took my heart with her. I’ve always had a soft spot for her. The whole crew knew it. I slapped my head. Idiot.

Carving
Fictober Masterlist
Day 13 of Fictober: James Potter and Pumpkin Carving
The kitchen was a delightful mess, filled with the rich scent of pumpkin and the sounds of laughter. You sat at the table, surrounded by a pile of pumpkins, carving tools, and a heap of seeds and gooey guts.
“Okay, let’s make this a competition!” James declared, brandishing his carving knife like a sword. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he surveyed the pumpkins. “Whoever makes the best jack-o’-lantern wins!”
You raised an eyebrow, a playful smile creeping onto your face. “And what’s the prize, oh great pumpkin master?”
He thought for a moment, then grinned. “The winner gets to decide the Halloween movie we watch tonight!”
“Deal!” you agreed, already envisioning the cozy evening ahead.
You both set to work, James going for an ambitious design while you opted for something cute. As you carefully sketched out a happy face on your pumpkin, you glanced over to see James wrestling with his—he was trying to carve a complex design of a spooky face, but the pumpkin seemed to have other plans.
“Need some help?” you offered, trying to stifle a laugh as he made a dramatic cut that sent seeds flying across the table.
“No way! This is going to be amazing!” he insisted, determination written all over his face. You admired his enthusiasm, even if his pumpkin looked a bit like it had seen better days.
As the minutes passed, the kitchen became a whirlwind of laughter and pumpkin guts. You couldn’t resist teasing him. “Are you sure you don’t want to try something a bit simpler? Maybe a cute cat?”
“Cute? Pfft!” He waved his hand dismissively. “I’m going for scary. Besides, who needs a cat when you can have a terrifying monster?”
You chuckled, shaking your head as you focused on your own pumpkin. With each cut, your design began to take shape—a cheerful face with bright eyes and a wide grin. You glanced over at James, who was now concentrated to the point of furrowing his brow, tongue poking out in concentration.
“Okay, maybe I should reconsider this scary face,” he muttered, eyeing the jagged cuts he’d made. “It’s starting to look more like a potato than a monster.”
“See? I told you!” you laughed. “Maybe I’ll have to teach you the art of cuteness.”
After a bit more back and forth, you both stepped back to admire your handiwork. Your pumpkin beamed back at you, while James’s creation had transformed into something more whimsical than terrifying—its face was quirky and oddly endearing.
“Okay, I have to admit, mine looks a bit ridiculous,” he conceded, trying to hide his grin. “But it’s got character!”
“Definitely!” you replied, wiping your hands on a towel. “It’s the kind of pumpkin that would win a charm contest for sure.”
As you set the pumpkins on the porch, you felt a warm glow of satisfaction. “May the best pumpkin win!” you said, glancing at James, who was mockingly flexing his muscles as if to declare victory.
“Just wait until the kids see mine,” he said with a wink. “They’ll love it!”
You laughed, already imagining the reactions of the trick-or-treaters. “Well, whatever happens, this was a blast. Can’t wait for our movie night!”
With the sun setting behind you, you both admired your creations, the spirit of Halloween filling the air with anticipation and laughter.

A few days have passed since your date with Tommy, and the kiss. You knew it was wrong, you only kissed him to try and get back at Joel. At least that’s what you’re trying to convince yourself. You haven’t seen either of the brothers since that night, and Tommy only reached out to see how you were feeling the next day.
You decided to make plans with your friends tonight after they wouldn’t stop bugging you for an update on the mystery man from your night out. As you leave to meet them for dinner and drinks, your eyes linger on Joel’s house noticing that his truck isn’t in the driveway tonight.
You picked up Dee first, then Aya and started to make your way downtown. You all agreed to have dinner at your favorite local restaurant, the Attic.
“You have to tell us, did you ever see him again!?” Aya asks. “We’re dying to know.”
You let out a small laugh before answering. “I think I need a drink before I can get into it.” You let out a sigh, drifting off into thoughts of that night in the bar and meeting Joel for the first time. You see the two of them exchange a look from the corner of your eye before their gaze falls back on you.
“That bad?” Dee asks hesitantly.
You purse your lips and push the thoughts to the back of your head as you pull into a parking spot. “Yeah, that bad.”
“I haven’t been here in ages,” Aya states as you put the car in park.
“Me either.” you glance back at her in the rear view mirror and smile, grabbing your purse and unbuckling before reaching for the door handle.
You step out and meet them at the back of the car before walking towards the restaurant. The sun is setting and the air is starting to cool down now as the three of you walk towards the entrance. The host seats you at a booth against the back wall of the restaurant and you all settle in, taking a look at the drink menu.
“How's the new job?” Aya asks as you all flip through the menu.
“Well,” you're unsure how to start. “It’s not bad, I actually work tomorrow night.” You know that you'll have to tell them about Joel showing up at your job with a date at some point, just not right now. “What about you guys?”
“Nothing really new or exciting…” Dee starts before the waiter comes to the table to ask your drink order.
The three of you order margaritas to start and the waiter brings out chips with your drinks. You chat for a couple minutes, sipping on your drinks as you finalize your orders. After you're a little more than halfway through your first drinks he comes back to take your food orders, and you finally feel ready to talk. You can tell they've been trying not to bring it up ever since you sat down.
“Okay, are you ready?” you smile at them letting out a small laugh.
“Yes, I can't wait any longer.” Aya huffs dramatically as she rolls her eyes in a joking manner. “So you saw him again?”
You laugh and take a deep breath before answering. “Yeah, I did see him again.” you look down at your drink and play with your straw as you wait for their next question.
“Okay and? How did it go?” Dee asks excitedly.
“Did you find out his name? Did he take you out?” Aya adds in eagerly.
“Well, um,” you glance back up at them. “Not exactly.” you let out a nervous laugh as they both stare back at you in anticipation. “I saw him again at dinner… at my dads house.”
Both of their eyes shoot open wide in surprise. “What do you mean?” Aya asks cautiously.
“It turns out he's my dads best friend… and neighbor.” you pause, giving them a moment to process before you continue. “My dad had told me that he invited his friend over for Sunday night dinner, I never met him before this, and when he walked in it was him. The mystery man.” You take a deep breath. “His name’s joel.”
“Oh my god.” Dee says, mouth falling open.
“That's not even the worst of it.” They just stare at you in silence as you prepare for the next part. “After we had dinner we talked a bit and, uh,” you take another sip of your drink before going on, trying to calm your nerves. “We had sex.”
You get interrupted by the waiter bringing out your food. Both girls are still in shock as the waiter sets your plates down. “Thank you.” you mutter as he steps away.
Once he’s gone, Dee finally speaks. “Did I hear you correctly?” she's just staring at you.
“Yeah, we had sex… behind my fathers house.” They both blink at you. “I told him before it happened that I understood if he didn't want to see me again, that if he wanted to end things it was okay with me. I mean the last thing I expected was for him to be my dads new best friend, but he said he didn't want to end things.” you sigh.
“So you guys are like, seeing each other now?” Aya asks, finishing off her margarita.
You bite at your lip and let out a stiff laugh. “No, we're not.” you clear your throat and grab your fork. “We made plans for later that week before he came over that night, but he ghosted me after Sunday night dinner.” You take a bite of your food.
“Oh my… You're joking right?” Dee scoffs. You swallow your food and shake your head. “What the fuck…”
“Yeah so that happened.” You rub your cheek, thinking before you tell them the next part. “Then the first night at my new job his brother, Tommy, came into the diner and we were talking for a bit. Maybe 30 minutes later Joel walks in. With a girl.” You look up at them, both completely invested in your story. “So I confronted him about ghosting me, we argued, he kissed me, and then his brother asked me out…”
Dee almost spits out her drink after the last part. “This is insane, did you go out with his brother?”
“Yeah, you're telling me.” You take a sip of your drink, finishing it off. “I did, and he’s really sweet. Picked me up, taught me how to play pool,” you find yourself smiling. “but Joel was there.”
“Is this guy just everywhere? My god.” Aya adds in.
You chuckle at her comment. “We talked again that night. He was flirting with another girl at the bar but when I went outside to get some air he followed me.” You stop, zoning out for a moment. The memory floods back as you retell the story. “It’s weird, I feel some kind of pull towards him but… I don’t know. I think he’s just a player. Actually, I know he is. It was just a fuck to him, those were his own words.”
“God… sounds like an asshole to me,” Aya rolls her eyes and glances over at Dee. “Tell us more about his brother, what was his name?” She takes another bite.
“Tommy,” you smile while saying his name. “Yeah um, I ended up kissing him at the end of our date.”
“You kissed him?” Dee’s eyes practically pop out of her head. “Damn.” She shakes her head in disbelief.
“Yeah yeah,” you wave your hand in front of you. “It was wrong I know, I think part of me only did it to make Joel jealous.” You look away, a bit embarrassed after admitting that.
“Well what did Tommy say after the kiss?” Aya asks, resting her elbows on the table and leaning in closer. “Was it a good kiss?”
“Well first I apologized on the drive home because the kiss was a little abrupt, but it was good. He said it was okay that I kissed him.” You bite at your lip. “He hasn’t really reached out since then though, only to check on me the next day, and neither have I.”
“Why not? It seems like he’s actually into you.” Dee says.
“Unlike his brother.” Aya shoots you a glance. “I say forget about Joel and go for his brother.”
“I’m just not sure if I like him like that, it would be wrong to lead him on.” You play with your fork while you think about what Aya just said.
“You’ve only gone out with him once, how do you know for sure you’re not into him?” She shrugs.
“I guess you’re right.” You hum. “I don’t know though.”
“Just think about it.” Aya shoots you a devious smile.
You laugh, putting your fork down and placing your hands on your lap. “I’ll be right back guys.”
You get up from the booth and start towards the restroom, you really just need a breather after spilling all of that. You walk past a handful of booths feeling a little tipsy as you go, then turn down the hallway and push open the black door to the bathroom. You step in and walk towards the row of sinks lined in front of a mirror, staring at yourself in the reflection before turning on the water. As you run your hands under the water and grab some soap, your eyes stay on your reflection and you take a deep breath.
I can’t believe I just told them all of that, you think to yourself. It all feels unreal. You’ll probably take their advice and text Tommy back tonight, they did have a point. He’s into you and Joel isn’t, that’s just the facts.
You reach to turn off the water and grab a paper towel before taking one last look at yourself in the mirror. You throw the paper towel into the waste bin and reach for the door handle. As soon as you step into the hallway you run into someone nearly falling over before they grab your arms, catching you as you place your hands on their chest.
“Woah there.” You’d recognize that voice anywhere. You look up to find Joel Miller holding you against him.
“Joel!” You immediately pull back, releasing yourself from his grip. “Hi-”
He was the last person you were expecting to see, especially after you were just calling him a player to your friends over dinner. What were the odds of him being here at the same time as you, you know that you live in the same town but it’s like you can’t escape him.
“Hey.” He offers you a small smile and glances down the hallway. “What are you doin’ here?” His eyes fall back on you as he waits for an answer.
“Um, I’m having dinner with some friends,” you straighten yourself out, suddenly feeling nervous. “Girls night.” You take a deep breath and his scent fills your senses.
“Hm. Nice.” You look back up at him, preparing to walk back to your friends when he takes a step closer to you. He runs a hand through his hair before speaking again, and your heart leaps into your throat. “Hey uh, I’ve been wanting to talk to you actually-“
You take a small step back from him, panicking and trying to keep a fair distance between the two of you. “Maybe another time, Joel. I gotta get back.” His face falls as you turn back towards the end of the hallway and make your way back to the booth.
What makes him think you would honestly want to talk to him, what would he even have to say? You don't care anyway. As you walk back you frantically glance around the restaurant. You’re assuming Joel’s here on another date until your eyes land on Tommy sitting in a booth diagonal from yours and a little further down. His back is to you and Sarah is there as well. Shit. Both brothers are here. You get to your booth, turning around and sliding into your seat as quickly as possible.
“Guys, don’t make a big scene please.” You slouch down in your seat. “Joel’s here with Tommy and his daughter, I just ran into him while leaving the bathroom.”
“Where?” They both lean in closer.
“Behind me, to your left.” As soon as you finish saying it, Aya’s head snaps towards the table. Dee waits a moment before also glancing their way. “Aya!” You smack her hand playfully. “I said don’t make a scene.”
“Oh my god!” She whispers, eyes still locked on Tommy sitting at the booth. “His brother is gorgeous.” She smirks.
While Dee and Aya ogle at Tommy, you notice Joel walking back. His eyes lock onto yours immediately as you watch him make his way to Tommy. You can’t imagine what he wanted to talk to you about, there’s nothing to even talk about. And if he wants to talk about what happened with Tommy, it’s none of his business anyway. Once Joel walks past you, you snap out of it and look back at Aya and Dee.
Aya leans in and whispers. “That’s Joel?” She looks past you at the booth where they’re all sitting and you nod to confirm. “Wow, they’re both gorgeous.” She smirks, looking back at you.
“Oh god.” Dee snaps her head back towards you. “They saw us.”
“Are you serious?” You slowly turn to look towards the booth and both brothers are looking towards you. “Fuck.” You turn back in shock to look at the girls again. This can’t be happening.
“It’s okay, what’s the worst that could happen?” Dee says, causing you to let out a nervous laugh.
“Guys, I need to get out of here.” Your chest is starting to feel tight, they both definitely saw you.
The waiter walks past and Aya flags him over to the table. “We’re ready for the check please.” She smiles up at him before he walks away.
You start to dig in your purse for some cash as the waiter comes back and sets the check on your table. Immediately you set your cash on top of the check and wait for the two girls to do the same, then you feel a presence beside you. Aya looks up behind you, eyes going wide and you turn to see what she’s looking at. You find Tommy Miller standing to your right, one hand in his pocket as he smiles down at you.
“Hi.” He says softly.
“Tommy.” You’re breathless. “Hi, what are you doing here?” You’re trying your best to sound genuine.
“Just out to dinner with Joel and Sarah.” He glances at your two friends and back to you.
“Oh uh, Tommy these are my friends Aya and Dee.” You turn towards them. “This is my neighbor, Tommy.” You raise your brows at them and they both give him a small wave. You turn back towards him and he nods in their direction before giving you his attention. “We’re just having a girls night, we were about to leave.” You smile.
“Nice, well uh,” his hand rubs at the back of his neck. “Text me when you get home? I mean, only if you want…”
“Yeah, I will.” You clutch your purse as he smiles down at you again.
He looks at your friends again. “Nice to meet you ladies.” He winks at you before walking back towards the booth where Joel and Sarah are seated.
You let out a deep sigh and glance over your shoulder as Tommy walks back. Joel’s staring at you, a deep crease between his brows as he watches you, eyes falling on Tommy as he scoots into the booth. Tommy turns around to look your way one last time and your eyes meet for a moment.
“Let’s get out of here,” you turn to the girls. “Please.”
You all get up from the booth and you practically sprint out of there. As you open the door to go outside, Aya’s arm loops around yours and she lets out a little shriek.
“What a heartthrob! You better text him when you get home.” She leans into you and you all laugh as you approach the car.
“I will.” You give her a genuine smile before walking towards the driver's side and pulling open your door.
After dropping off Dee and Aya, you find yourself thinking about Joel as you pull into your driveway. Your skin tingles as you think about the way he grabbed you when you ran into him, and the way he watched you as he walked past you keeps replaying in your mind.
Your phone vibrates as you put your car in park, you grab your purse and dig around for it. Tommy had told you to text him when he got home, you’re assuming he decided to text you instead. When you pull out your phone, the message that pops up on the screen isn’t from Tommy. It’s from Joel.
Hey, I was really hoping we could talk. Maybe tomorrow night? If you’re free.
You scoff at the text, ignoring it as you unlock your phone and immediately go to your messages to text Tommy.
Hi, are you free on Friday?
You send it before you can overthink it and bite at your nail before grabbing your purse from the seat beside you, then you feel your phone go off again. You eagerly open the message from Tommy.
Yeah, let me take you out. I’ll pick you up around 8.
A smile spreads across your face as you read the message, and the comments your friends made at dinner play through your head again. He’s actually into you, unlike Joel.
Perfect, see you then :)
You shove your phone back into your purse and reach for the car door. Once you step through your front door, you run up your stairs, a smile still plastered on your face from Tommy’s text. You close your bedroom door and throw your purse on your bed as you walk towards your window. As you grab your curtains to close them, you see Joel’s truck pulling into his driveway across the street.
You stand there frozen for a moment, watching as he parks the car. Sarah gets out first and Joel tosses her the keys as she runs to the front door, Joel closes the car door as he watches her. He lingers there for a moment, hand resting on his truck until Sarah is inside. As soon as the front door closes, Joel turns his head and looks towards your house. You just watch him from your window, hoping the darkness hides your silhouette. You swear you can almost see a hint of a smirk on his face as you pull your curtains shut.
That night your mind lingers towards thoughts of Joel until you fall asleep.
