so. this doesn't EXACTLY work 1:1 because there are only 3 endbringers and only 2 of them seem to be element-focused as far as i know. but if we have tide as a comparison to leviathan, we also have MAGMA who could be a comparison to behemoth if my thoughts are correct and behemoth is . big fire guy (he sleeps in a volcano so. I'm assuming.) . granted we also have like. whirlwind and shockwave and seismic who are the other elementals and they don't actually have an endbringer counterpart BUT IM !!!! going a little crazy thinking about like. if tide + his siblings are artificial capes, what if they (or at least he and magma because I'm kind of thinking abt them as the older ones. havent listened to the oneshot in a while so this may not be accurate) were given their powers SPECIFICALLY to be counters to the endbringers. or at least in an attempt to make a cape equivalent of the endbringers to better like... study their powerset or something. (I keep saying cauldron studies things bc I said that with david too and this really just comes from my inherent need for a big evil science team. in worm it seems like they're more capitalism focused but let a guy dream here)

this also brings up an interesting point with Elle who i know u don't know yet but she could be an interesting counterpoint to simurgh? Who as far as I know now isn't necessarily elemental but . neither is Elle really!! and that creates the big disaster in the oneshot bc she can't control her powers and goes kind of nuts about it.

anyway anyway anyway. tldr; tide and magma were specifically created as parallels to leviathan and behemoth, this wouldn't really be common knowledge to the rest of the capes bc of cauldrons secrecy BUT i think ppl would definitely notice the similarities in their powersets and that makes a subconscious fear response in people who have seen an endbringer attack firsthand (I believe in scary intimidating tide supremacy but then you talk to him and he's the sweetest human being in the whole world) . tide and magma both know this and have complicated emotions about it. I think tide has a very bad reaction to the leviathan attack if we are keeping that as an event that happens.

OR IT COULD ALL BE COINCIDENCE AND THIS IS NOTHING. but until i learn more about cauldron I am choosing to view them as my favorite trope of big evil science corporation <3333

I'm bored so here is me telling y'all my favorite tropes for TiPo that I love to read/write (warning some parts are le spicy-) sorry this is gonna be looooong

+ modern or highschool aus. typically with Tigress being of high status and Po being the "new" guy. I NEED MY BISEXUAL GIRLBOSS AND MY DORKY MALEWIFE IN THIS SETTING IMMEDIATELY OMGGGG

+ stories like. right after the end of kfp 2. it's usually very intimate, peaceful yet solemn at the same time and it's just. ugh. the hurt/comfort genre is strong with this one. BONUS POINTS IF PO OPENS UP ABOUT WHAT HE DISCOVERED ABOUT HIS PANDA VILLAGE

+ pining Tigress. I love me some flustered Po (especially since he's such a fanboy and him being in love with Tigress is SO CANON-) but. I a a sucker for the "they fell first but they fell harder" trope bc OMG. the thought of Tigress, cold, hardcore Tigress, catching feelings for Po? it's just so sweet to me to see the usually composed tiger get so flussy, even if it ain't as obvious as Po's pining is. her tail swishing behind her when he touches her? catching herself getting lost in Po's eyes before clearing her throat? instantly relaxing after Po rests his paw on her shoulder? knees easily buckling into his pleas? UGH I AM HERE FOR IT!

+mutual pining one-shots. quite similar to Tigress pining but they are *both* lovesick idiots. the slowburn is very much apparent but the romantic tension is so there like YALL JUST KISS ALREADY- or actually don't. stay comfy and close like this. it's cute :3 but maybe like hold hands if you can

okay, I'm going to count distinct chapters of the advent calendar for this. in no particular order and subject to mood change:

When You're Loving Me (That's When I'm Loving You) (NCIS: LA) - I cited this as a contender for my favourite fic I've written a couple months ago, so obviously it has to go in the year's. what can i say, fake dating is an immaculate trope, and this also all came onto the page very easily which is always vaguely miraculous.

there you go pulling me right back in (H50) - sometimes vague prompts i've had down for ages write up as something that's. fine, but a bit clunky, and I just have to move on bc it's the advent calendar and a new fic each day. sometimes I start writing them and they spring into life with joyous delight. or in this case, uninhibited grumpiness and love.

singing yesterday's songs wishing i could be with you tonight (MASH) - the one that didn't make it into the top 5 kudosed, I assume partially due to being locked and partially due to being a serious tone, not terribly shippy, and Peg POV. But I've had some version or other of it for a long time, it's one of those stories I'm genuinely proud of, and I was glad to finally post it.

Totally Normal (Due South) - it's fun. it was fun. I was slightly nervous about it, because the only prior Due South thing I'd written was Dief POV and this was Fraser and RayK POV and the first time writing either of those, but it turns out watching + liveblogging four and two seasons, respectively, of a character in four months is. enough to cement their voices in my head. it was unexpectedly easy and also. fun.

Festive Spice (MUNCLE) - i just think it epitomises the advent calendar. in the words of coolbreezemage, 'yesssss bake cakes and kiss your partner'.

I expect more MUNCLE fic. this one's already 3.5k and rocketing along, and i'm only two-thirds of the way through season 1. what form that will take i don't know at this stage but we'll see.

Anon you caught me right before I was Abt to go to sleep but I can't not do this. It's for my girl (feel free to send me more while I sleep btw these r fun)

favorite thing about them: LITERALLY WHERE DO I EVEN START. She's one of my top ten protagonists of all times. I love the lessons she learns, the way she learns them, I love watching her grow and struggle and thrive. I love her so so so much. To keep things simple(ish) I will say that my favorite thing about Luz (which I've mentioned once or twonce before) is that she's an objectively cringey, very ND coded kid who's still given the utmost love and respect from the narrative. She gets to be objectively fucking uncool and this story still loves her. And it's nice it makes me feel loved by proxy

least favorite thing about them: I mean, I'd say in season 1 it's the tendency to flatten the boiling isles and it's people into 2 dimensional tropes for easily comprehension, but that's also one of my favorite flaws of Luz and the narrative always makes an interesting point out of this attitude. Maybe it's the suicidal ideation bc it really scared me the first time I watched thanks to them. I knew nothing bad was gonna happen (within reason), this is Disney, but I was like DAMN THEY'RE GOING THERE!!!

favorite line: okay I actually cannot in good conscious choose one bc my friend once informed me that me and Luz just. Talk the same. Same silly idioms and phrases same whimsical expressions and syntax same humour, etc etc. It's a chicken egg situation and do not know who started it but I know that it's frighteningly accurate. So I'll just go for the safe classic "the only thing I've ever really wanted was to be understood" bc. Y'know. Best moment in the whole show and everything

nOTP: Luz and Hunter. It's just really not for me, even if I can see why it appeals to others. I'm too attached to the familial reading of their dynamic and the doors that opens up analysis wise. Also my irl brother is a hunter kinnie and I just outlined my credentials for being a Luz kinnie so /j

random headcanon: she played guitar when she was younger! The one in the basement belonged to Manny and he'd sit her on his lap and show her simple chords and riffs. She got a ukulele so she could practice. Then when Manny died she fell off playing it bc it felt wrong doing it without him, even though she still played uke sometimes. She picks it back up though during the season 3 timeskip and post canon! Also she was born in New York and lived there til she was 2/3, at which point she moved around a few states until landing in Connecticut at the age we see in the thanks to them video diaries (I wanna say 7 or 8?)

unpopular opinion: I also think Luz gets characterized as more bitter/vengeful/surly than she really is, especially in fics set around season 3. She wants to be happy, to have fun with her friends, she just feels like doesn't deserve it. Also I low-key think Luz is like. A genius. Just in an unconventional way. She rediscovered a lost form of magic and then taught herself it all on her own. She probably struggles with long division but I mean it when I say she is literally a genius imo

I like how her design and her behavior (really happy and joyous and whimsical forever) juxtaposes her interest in things a lot of people find scary. she operates under the assumption that the "weird" and the "frightening" are only such because she doesn't understand them, so naturally she's going to learn to understand everything. she's going to put everybody under a microscope. they can't stop her. she's the aeronautics engineer

did I mention the goggles. they're my favorite. it takes the hocotate eyes thing and makes that worse

OOOOOO HELLO!!! That’s a tough question I got no idea 🦅🦅💥💥 I love everything about my ocs but I will attempt to answer!!!

I have a ton of ocs a majority of which I have never and may never post about so I’ll try to stick to the ones that I have shown to the world (though I’ll briefly summarize those too because i doubt anyone remembers them) but I might sprinkle in some of my Super Scary Secret Ones as well

• OC NUMBER ONE!!! TERRI (the dumbass pikmin oc with the moth I posted about yesterday I think? Was it yesterday? I must admit I have been completely out of it this week and I have lost any concept of time but REGARDLESS)

I HAVE NOT DONE MUCH WITH HER SO THERE IS NOTHING TRULY DEEP TO HER CHARACTER. BUUUT I like how she was my first real oc based on a preexisting franchise. for a loooong time I was in the horribly toxic mindset of “heheheh oc? that’s so cringe hehehe” so a few months ago I made her as a big middle finger to that previous mindset. YES I made a pikmin oc YES she’s the sibling of a preexisting character YES I posted it on tumblr and NO I do NOT give a damn!!!

Or if you want a more basic answer I like how I made it so her hair kinda looks like butterfly wings cause it looks really goofy but she probably thinks it is So Awesome heeheehee

I just think they are very silly. If I had to choose a favorite aspect it’d be how they influence other characters, like the pure, blinding jealousy and rage that Putters brings upon her owner’s husband. You either love putters and gaf or you want to see them dead and there is no in between

actually in my original post bout her I didn’t fully mention some of her personality traits. I was focused more on her relation to the Turtlemeister but there’s more to her. Not a whole lot more admittedly but yea. If I had to pick my favorite though I’d sayyyy her brashness. I feel like I didn’t get that across well in the original post but she is intense. She will speed down the road at speeds way over the limit (and in this universe driving is already a taboo unless you have good reason for it) while blaring music, she tried to start the “sequel to the ice bucket challenge” (the boiling water challenge, it did not go well) and has zero filter. She’s not completely insane (I think if she was constantly like that it’d be way too much) but those aspects are definitely my favorite

• OC NUMBER FOUR!!! GOURDIE

fear not if you have no idea who this is! You aren’t simply forgetting or weren’t around for me mentioning her, I have just never mentioned her existence! She’s putter’s owner. I could go wayyyy into her but then we’d be here all day and I’ve already been typing this out for way too long soooo. It’s incredibly hard to pick one favorite aspect soooo I’ll just go with:

she’s prooooobably the most emotionally intelligent of the ocs in this universe…….not to say she’s a complete saint by any means, hell she’s kinda the catalyst for a LOT of problems with some Really Bad Decisions but she actually owns her fuck ups (except for the time she accidentally killed someone and was too horrified to tell anyone so she staged an accident and lived with the guilt the rest of her life but shhhhh) and tries to improve. Which by the end she does! Yippee (SHE IS NOT OK BY THE END) (SHE WON BUT AT WHAT COST)

She’s also just one of the nicest characters, you wouldn’t get that from my brief description but she actually is. She’s forgiving to a fault, like she got back with her ex husband MULTIPLE times on and off despite the fundamental disagreement that caused them to break up in the first place never being resolved, and tries to be the best parent possible (uhhh she might’ve failed with her…fish daughter….crap I haven’t mentioned the fish people….uh BUT SHE TRIED HER BEST AND WORKED THINGS OUT WITH SAID FISH DAUGHTER AND THEY ARE A HAPPY FAMILY NOW YAYYYY)

• OC NUMBER FOUR!!! I AM YAPPING SO MUCH SOMEONE STOP ME: DEUX SOURIS

once again you are not crazy I have just never mentioned her before. And yes her name is French for “two mice” you will see why that is. Brief summary, she’s French (shocking) and joined the police force at a young age and was on path to be an incredibly successful and talented officer (much to the chagrin of her…grandmother I think? Yeah it’s her grandmother, who attempted to do the same as her but failed miserably and ended up being a lifelong traffic cop in a region where there is like. No traffic) but then!!! Had to go on a rescue mission and ended up getting. Extremely traumatized in the process! But she rescued the fellas she had to (said fellas losing their eyesight in the process uhhhh don’t ask) and got all sorts of medals for her bravery but she was like. Nah screw this I’m quitting (again to the chagrin of her grandmother, HOW COULD YOU THROW AWAY YOUR CAREER LIKE THIS I WORKED SO HARD AND I NEVER EVEN—) and spent the rest of her life in a group called the “two blind mice and one seeing eye mouse” with the people she rescued where she was the, well, seeing eye mouse! She didn’t actually have to do much work guiding them because the other “mice” in the group were incredibly adaptive and could pretty much function independently immediately but she stuck around anyway. Let’s pretend the story ends there heehee she had a happily ever after mmmhm nothing bad happened after that ahahaha. Um way too much exposition for a simple point but! My favorite thing about her! She carries a soundboard everywhere so she can make goofy sound effects for certain situations. She also plays the horn. Like a car horn. She will make music with car horns. She does a very good job at it surprisingly

I could yap so so so much more but I will restrain myself. Final oc who I am obligated to mention but I will be So Vague about: i won’t say his actual name but. Some call him pumpkin daddy. He has been haunting my thoughts for over 2 years now. He is not even an oc. He is not original. He is someone else’s old oc but when I mentioned he was my favorite part of his original universe, the original creator randomly gave me full ownership of him. So technically he is mine now I suppose. I changed him beyond belief, the only remnants of his old life being his name and appearance. I’m speaking of him like a cryptid lmao my favorite thing about pumpkin daddy is everything. That is all

5. So I'm not used to tooting my own horn too much but I'll say that even though Lost was a big hit with everyone, I think I spent so, so, SO much time in writing "Learning Curve," and I think if you really want to get me as a writer that's one to read.

9. So I'm not sure if this is asking me as a reader or writer so I'll answer both. As a writer, my favorite fic I ever wrote might be A Court of Witches and Warriors because I never thought I'd stick to something for that long. And even though I know I haven't updated in forever, it's still my first big thing I ever did and I'm proud of her!

As for other fav fics, where to begin?!?

- Embers and Light is a given. I don't think at any point that any Nessian fan hasn't read it yet but if you haven't read it yet, GO! SHOO! Written by the lovely @duskandstarlight

-In Which She Makes a Friend by @bookstantrash is just 👌😚 (this is my made-up chef's kiss emoji btw). It's so cute, and funny, adorable and angsty. The perfect blend of everything. And it’s all the forced mom, dad, child random family put together trope plus girl training as a boy in the army trope so like...ALL THE TROPES. WE LOVE THE TROPE!

-@vidalinav has...things? It's not easy to explain bc she releases a million snippets that I devour and I basically consider them mini chapters at this point and all of then are their own perfect story. Most notably, Nesta’s Love is Quiet which is done and is actually 5 full chapters.

-Anything by @moodymelanist but my fav will forever be Mr. and Mrs. Archeron because I love Nessian and I love Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the combination AU is just *swoons and dies*

-Bittersweet by @inkedstarlight ...so I actually binge read this fic and then couldn’t find the name and panicked and bothered a bunch of people and refound it because it is SO DAMN GOOD. So beautiful.

-Okay so @caotica-e-quieta writes on AO3 as “closet_monster” and it’s actually really funny because when I was just a lurker on tumblr and didn’t interact with anyone and read on AO3, I was the BIGGEST FAN of her work. Like I mean, reread almost everyday because for one, there was literally not much Nessian work out there so you devoured whatever the hell you could find. Her work is some of the best that’s out there so I obviously...ahem...may or may not have every fic memorized. My favorite one is I Made Dinner- Impeccable in every single aspect. WAIT I just remembered I also love, love, love it takes time and a little death. 

-Sand and Stardust by @sayosdreams makes me fucking cry and scream and laugh and cry all at once. So beautifully crafted and it’s Nessian babies!!!!

- @letstakethedawn writes...well, honestly, FILTH. Anyways, I think I’ve read Babooshka many times and well...rose quartz’s are just neat I think. That’s all I’ll say. Read it to understand it.

- It Was the End of Everything by @nehemikkele. Beautifully told. Made me cry. Also, not the only thing written by this writer- because there is SO MUCH to read. But it’s the one I’ve had a chance to read fully and loved unconditionally.

-Been obsessed, remained obsessed, will forever be obsessed by Bottled Up Storms by @perseusannabeth. Imagine soft Cassian, soft Nesta, all the angst and softness in the world and you’ve got this fic.

There are SO MANY more, but these are the ones I can list easily off the top of my head. I actually have so many fics saved and liked but I need to scroll a bunch through my tumblr to find them. Which I will when I’m feeling particularly nostalgic one day!

AGHH okay so I picked up where I left off on LDA but once again I am foiled by the calls of sleep except this time it's actually 2am and I have to be up at a decent time tomorrow to pack BUT ITS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR ME TO UPDATE YOU ON MY INNER THOUGHTS AS I WAS READING (and I've currently made it to where there are only 3 more chapters till I'm caught up - by the way, this has LDA spoilers for those of you who haven't read/aren't very far). When I was reading I kept hope and hope and hoping that Izanami had some connection to Izana and then it was CONFIRMED and my heart did a little happy dance. And this is super general but the slow burn childhood friends to lover is absolutely healing every single inch of me (despite all the pain in the fic itself...) because those are two of my most favorite tropes ever combined into one. AND UHHHH... the communication you have going on between the characters is MWUAH <333 I've been living for the way Ran and Rin and y/n sit down and talk things out after stuff happens. Like sure it takes a while and there's lots of pain beforehand but THE REPRESENTATION OF IT IS PERFECT. Like especially in the last chapter I read, I think it was chapter 11, but they communicate so well in the past scenes and like air out everything that might bother them, and then in the present scenes the same things happen EXCEPT you acknowledged the fact that their hurt wouldn't be gone yet after something as simple as a conversation. AND THAT JUST. IT'S REALLY SO AMAZING ACTUALLY. Because its something so small that gets taken for granted wayyy too often to the point that I never see it in fics, rarely see it in books/movies/shows, and its like a unicorn irl. It's honestly healing and refreshing to see as someone who struggles with communication. That's all for my comments for now and like I said the first time I popped into your asks you're doing so wonderfully and your works are honestly so freaking amazing and just YES you're amazing okay goodbye it's time for me to sleep now <333

They're not killing robin or will,robin is their only queer character (that's out) and will is literally just coming out you think they're gonna be will: I'm gay them: die. I don't think Joyce is going to die either, her and hopper are just about to get together and I don't think they want to loose wynona. Also in talking about gut punches, as much as I hate it, Steve is very likely because he is the absolute fan fave I don't think there is a character more loved by the general audience and he's the one everyone always worries about every season. Sure Eddie's very popular and a lot of people are going to be upset if he goes but it wouldn't even begin to compare to Steve dying bc the truth is Eddie has been on our screens for five minutes. I've seen a few theories that someone unexpected might be mike and that's a possibility, also Murray is definitely a goner. There could also be a few characters in danger/stuck somewhere and we don't know their fate, anyhow we'll know in a week.

Okay I'm gonna respond in order to this.

1. Robin being gay doesn't give her a magical shield that protects her from being killed off. The bury your gays trope is a thing we all hate for a reason. However the writers of Stranger Things do seem more socially aware then that, plus as I said it makes less sense than the other characters.

2. Joyce is a fan favorite and that fact the her and Hoper are finally so close to being a happy family is exactly why it would make sense from a writing perspective at least, to kill her. Though I don't know if the writers are trying to go that dark/no happy endings for anyone. As far as losing Wynona, they have already said there's only one season after this and she can always be there in like flash backs or some sort of spirit stuck in the upside down or something weird like that. This is stranger things after all.

3. I agree Steve is hands down the fan fave and thus the easiest target. It makes sense, it will hurt, we'll all cry, etc. This post wasn't about how easy and expected it would be to kill Steve though, quite the opposite in fact. I'm specifically looking at if it's not Steve, who do we expect to go?

4. I did consider adding Mike to my original post. He is aggressively pro saving Eleven/Jane to the point where he would happily put himself in danger to do so. Plus it would also hurt Will and they do really like hurting Will. Mike is possibly the least liked of the kids as well. So it would let them up the stakes, the kids are free game now, without really altering how we as fans feel about the show. If Will finally comes out to him and Mike thinks he can save his best friend who is apparently in love with him and his girlfriend who Mike maybe still loves, I could see the writers building a big sacrificial moment around that. In the end I chose not to include Mike in my original post, because I just didn't find the idea of hus death very compelling, but maybe that's exactly why he would be chosen to die.

There aren't many book that I can say just effortlessly waltzes their way into becoming one of my favorites but this series did just that. It did it slowly and captivated me with every single word. I am terribly sad for it to be over but there is always the show and re-reads haha.

Every detail and job that the crows did in this book all played out so nicely in the end. A certain merch's downfall was so pleasing to read considering how terrible he is, (it helped my soul to read that btw) especially Jesper reading Wylan the paper beforehand (ahahhah) and Van Eck flailing around acting like a crazy person. I like how it paralleled to Van Eck's treatment of Wylan's mom. The whole transfer of estates and how Van Eck will never be able to hold his own empire again. When I read of his downfall I was reminded of jobs Kaz sent the crows on and it made sense, especially when they didn't make a whole lot of sense when I was reading the book. How she is able to plan for all of that is crazy!

The way Kaz plots and plans is so funny to read because as we are reminded in the book several times that "Kaz Brekker didn't need a reason" but everything he has ever done was backed up with a reason!! I also like how he literally held a one man coup against Per Haskell, beat up 10 men (mostly without his cane if I might add), and won!!! our demjin is a barrel boss now! I hope he does crime!

Chapter 39 and 40 absolutely hurt to read I was crying at 2:30 this morning. :( But I will say chapter 44 made me feel a tiny bit better but I'm still upset. MY BABIES (kaz + inej) HELD HANDS WITHOUT GLOVES, the way I had to hold in a scream and not throw the book in happiness haha. AND YOU KNOW THST KAZ WAS PROBABLY NOT OKAY OR WAS TRYING TO BE FOR INEJ. and he bought her a ship and found her parents aAAAHHHH

"we were all supposed to make it" will always be so heartbreaking to read, I knew he would die as I read spoilers beforehand but still they're my crows :( so will "i have be made to protect you, even in death I will find a way" HE DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER HE DESERVED TO BE IN RAVKA WITH NINA HELPING TO REFORM THE YOUNG DRUSKELLES!! I will always hate that he was killed, his arc was so good and IT WAS STILL GOING!! *angry exclamation points* how are you just going to rip out my heart like that ms. bradugo? did you enjoy it?

I truly hope Kaz and Inej are able to heal and grow (not inej, she is perfect, I take absolutely no critism for that). I want them to be the King and Queen of the Barrel and be the fearsome kids they are!! If I see one more kanej death trope I will scream :) They deserve to heal and live their lives hopefully together, kaz being a scary barrel boss and inej being a scary slaveholder hunter. They deserve to be the representation some in similar situations need and I find it tremendously rude! i'll haunt the kanej death trope writers, don't test me haha

The found family trope will forever be my favorite and have a special place in my heart. I loved how the crows had every reason to disband after Inej was safe but they didn't, as Wylan stated he wouldn't have wanted it any other way and I am sure that is the same for the rest of the crows, even kaz! I sure wouldn't have wanted the crows to be any different, maybe with less trauma though. wylan's "why I am here" will never not be funny bc all the characters feelings said this but he was truly the only one who said the words. Inej and matthias said similar things but I find wylan saying it so much funnier.

I can't wait to read more of the crows if/when Ms. Bardugo writes the 3rd book. This book/series deserves all the stars in the world (again no critism will be taken hehe) there's also this kanej fan fic that shows the crows and their collective healing that I am reading called "dealing with our demons" on AO3 KDSBGFILSBFI ITS SO GOOD THE AUTHOR IS JUST SO WONDERFUL

the man. the myth. the legend. i love him so much. hes super fucking hot bc of how bad he is. like an absolute madlad he goes around destroying the zabis and giving amuro hell. hes so good that despite being on team evil he regularly tops popularity polls and is widely regarded as being super attractive. im asexual but i agree. char is supreme. he and his red mobile suits cannot be topped. 20/10

MCGILLIS MY BELOVED!!!! perhaps the only char clone that matters. this dude brings back the classic level of backstabbing, the supreme attractiveness, and in general, being an awful person. but i can't help but feel for the guy. he was trying his goddamn hardest to overturn a fucked up system. he also simply could not fathom having friends. mcgillis might only do the mask thing for a little and also wears a wig (McWiggis) but i forgive him, because the moves he does in bael are truly sexy. i adore mcgillis i have to rate him high but he cannot overtake the classic. 19/10 would let him betray me

even the wiki doesn't seem confident in this one. i like his look though. hes kinda got some gentle eyes, so i will assume he's the more quattro flavor of things. 6/10

1. outlaw queen (regina x robin, once upon a time)

where do i begin. literally this is my favorite ship of all time. whenever i'm asked about my favorite ships, my mind jumps straight to Them. oq might be the only ship where i remember the exact moment i started shipping them - the scene where they're in zelena's cabin and regina first notices the tattoo. now, i watched ouat a little out of order bc i had a partially enforced bedtime of 8pm until like. halfway through seventh grade. and ouat came on at 8 so i didn't watch every episode all the way through so anyway i did Not know robin had the tattoo until that moment and i just vividly remember sitting on my couch watching that episode with my family thinking omg are they going to kiss i want them to kiss they should kiss and basically everything has been downhill since then. no but seriously i love them. i love them. it's about loving someone despite the person they used to be, and loving them despite the fact that they believe they're unlovable. it's about finding someone who understands the pain you've gone through and knowing that they can't erase it, but they can help ease it, and you can do the same for them in return. i'm writing way too much but just. they deserved so much better and i will die mad about the way a&e treated them.

2. zukka (sokka x zuko, avatar: the last airbender)

literally they are what brought me back to tumblr. and i am forever grateful for them because of that. i have met so many lovely people bc of zukka (and atla in general). but also they're just,, the prince and the fool. they're just some guys who found love in each other, despite the circumstances, despite a world set up so their meeting was a near impossibility. they compliment each other so well, and they care about each other so much. it's about learning to let someone else love you and take care of you when you've had to rely on yourself for that since you were young. it's about being able to bond over loss and grief, while also being able to celebrate the victories together. i love them

after i watched sk8 and matchablossom first took over my mind, i did a fun little experiment. i listed out some of my favorite tropes and tallied how many tropes my favorite ships fit. matchablossom and zukka were tied with the most points. i knew from before i started watching sk8 that i was going to love them but oh man did i underestimate just how much. they've got everything. the bickering as a love language, the childhood friends to lovers, the potential for a secret relationship, the i hate everyone but i don't have you, the rivals to lovers, the gold rush i don't like that anyone would die to feel your touch dynamic, the you could have anyone and you still chose me dynamic, the ability for me to relate them to every song in taylor swift's discography-- (no but seriously. you know i love a ship when i start relating every taylor swift song to them skdgdj) it's about knowing someone so intimately that you can predict their next move and explain why they're doing it. it's about trusting someone with every part of yourself when most people are only allowed to see one side of you. it's about having someone in your life for long enough that you're no longer worried they're going to leave you behind. i'm unwell

kissing you is exactly how i'd want to spend eternity. literally what the heck. i love them. peak nerd guy x jock girl dynamic. also they're like,, canonically happy and basically married and in love and they got their happy ending???? literally unheard of for most of my ships. i love them. they've got the fairytale / magic / true love vibes but also the domesticity and the trope of two characters being the kids parents and i miss them

this is such a loaded ask because honestly, i had to think really deeply about this!! there are so many fics out there that have changed me as a writer and as a person in general that its hard to pick just seven... but i’m glad you mentioned worldwide lonesome because that fic is definitely!! fucking!! up there!! it might actually be my #1 seokjin fic, so you already got me there. but man... i put a lot of thought into my answer because my reading list is a never-ending pool of queerness and angstiness, as those tend to resonate the most deeply with me (since i am, after all, both queer and angsty HAHAH) so uhhh... here i go!! (also i apologize that these are mostly mxm... weirdly enough, i’m kind of more affected by those bc i relate more to them than reader inserts for some reason... the world is bombarded with hetero representation, so excuse me for clinging to my sole source of queer love lmao)

➤ for seokjin:

worldwide lonesome by loindexter [yoonjin] - i already mentioned it, but MAN... this fic left me stunned. the characterization of seokjin is what gets me the most, and by god, i am a SUCKER for coming out stories. as a closeted queer person, i’ve always wondered what other people’s experiences are with coming to terms with their sexuality, and op really hits the nail on the head. seokjin in this fic just feels... so real. like you said, it almost felt like i was looking into his diary!! it was maddening and tearjerking and oh so fucking human... you could feel his turmoil as if it were your own... and yoongi!! dear god, yoongi... that sweet fool... this fic just struck a cord with me because of how intimate and vulnerable it felt. i really hope i can write a fic like that in the future.

➤ for yoongi:

here comes the sun by fruitily [yoonkook] - this was unequivocally the hardest decision i’ve ever had to make in my life, mostly because i’ve read a plethora of yoongi fics in my day and it is quite literally so difficult to pin down a singular fic that changed me the most as a person. the reason i chose this certain fruitily fic (op will always be my biggest writing idol... if i could, i’d list down their entire masterlist as my favorite yoongi/jungkook fics of all time) because of the emotions it made me feel. there’s always something a bit sad about summer romances, and i’ve always been a sucker for that sort of trope because of the many possibilities you can do with it. it’s just... the way yoongi was portrayed here was just so darn REAL,,, you could almost physically feel his increasing want, his slow realization that yes, he does love the bucktoothed kid from summer camp. i absolutely adore the interactions he has with all the characters, because you can almost fool yourself into thinking he’s a real person. he’s a friend, and you’re watching him come to terms with what it means to love someone you only see once a year. dear lord i love that dude i’m gonna go cry now!!

(also bc i’m cheating but i also recommend the nights really were made for saying things you can't say tomorrow day by siderum... first yoonkook fic i ever read and dare i say it literally changed me as a person. there are no words.)

➤ for hoseok:

depaysement by 1honeypot (oilblotter/obiwrites) - okay i know this is fucked up for me to recommend a fic that doesn’t even exist on the internet anymore (op deleted her account on tumblr and has moved to ao3 but she’s never gonna reupload this fic again unfortunately) but MAN i still remember that fic to this day. it was so fucking GOOD and it made me realize the potential reader fics had that i never knew was possible. the entire plot was the usual make-over cliche (popular trendy girl makes the nerd hot yadah yadah yadah) that i had thought wouldn’t be interesting, but op managed to turn that trope into her own. it was hilarious, hot, moving, relatable... just ticking off every point that makes a fic great. i miss that fic so dearly and if you were some of the lucky few who managed to read it when it was still around... i think you all understand.

➤ for namjoon:

beta tau sigma by bazooka [namjin] - i cannot count the amount of times i’ve reread this fic. like, no joke, i probably memorize a few of the chapters from rereading it alone. holy fuck,,, as you can tell, i have a pattern when it comes to my fave fics and it’s all about: GAY PANIC THE MUSICAL!! yea... i just really like fics about self-discovery because MAN as a young adult traversing the mysteries of human nature and sexuality, i sincerely relate to namjoon in this fic. “am i gay, or am i just gay for my best friend?” is a question i have asked myself NUMEROUS times... dear god, namjoon is just a walking catastrophe and i!! could not!! relate!! more!! the plot flow and immersion you get from this fic is out of this world. you almost feel like you’re in the same frat as them!! i also love the way op made even the side characters have their own story arcs and backgrounds... they are what inspired me to give life to even the smallest of characters bc it just heightens the reading experience imo!! they really do feel like your friends in this fic, and this fic will always be my sources of comfort.

➤ for jimin:

darling, just say you’ll say by tusaisbts [yoonmin] - have i not sung this fic enough praises? i know it looks weird from the premise... cowboys? mail order brides? i thought it was odd at first too, but believe me when i say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. jimin’s growth as a character here left me absolutely speechless!! i just love his development: from a scared stranger dropped off in the middle of nowhere to a smart and capable teacher who can hold his own in this small rural town. i especially love how he interacts with yoongi, because op really makes you want to root for them. you want them to fall in love, to make their relationship work out. that yearning for two characters to get together is something i want my own readers to feel, and there aren’t enough words in my vernacular to explain how happy i was when everything turned out well. and jfc... rancher yoongi? got me so fucking hot n bothered and now i will forever be enamored by the thought of rugged yoongi... jfc...

➤ for taehyung (& jimin!!):

mudlands & yellow acacia by nonheather [vmin] - i remember the day i read this like it was yesterday. i had a final to study for, but instead i read this entire thing in one go and then i cried my eyes out even until the moment i walked into my exam room. i don’t know how else to describe this other than it was otherworldly. it was cozy. it was heartbreaking and magical and downright lovely. i especially loved the way taehyung was here... so fucking whipped for park jimin. he loved like no other man could, and jimin might have been a little too bullheaded at first, but they make it out okay. i’m not really one to believe in soulmates, but this fic almost made me believe they could be. it made me yearn for the first time, and i think that counts for something. to love another person and to have them love you back... op made me believe in love. 

➤ for jungkook:

years since you’ve been here by ameliabedelias [namkook] - okay maybe i’m just a crybaby and i cry at every fic under the sun but dear god this fic... might be The Fic That Changed Me As A Person. like, of course the other fics were mindblowing but this one in particular... wow. trampled all my expectations and caused a garden to bloom in my heart. jungkook is so sweet, so lost... he feels too much and he aches for namjoon. i know all too well that feeling of melancholy... when you love someone you’re not supposed to. coming of age stories will always have a soft spot in my heart, because i always tend to project myself onto the main characters. i want to grow and find my own destiny. i want to learn and be happy. jungkook finds his way, tumbles and trips the entire time, but he gets there. a symbol of queer triumph.

uhhhh for yoongi, i’d have to say tlhc? not surprising to anyone ever, but i just really love that little bitch... perhaps it’s because he’s a lil bit too much like me (minus the fact that he ended up with the love of his life BUT YA KNOW... IM GONNA SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCE FOR ME) and i think tlhc!yoongi really made me realize how rewarding it is to be vulnerable with my characters... would do again (and add even more angst flavor next time uwu) and that applies for every yoongi fic tbh... i love it when people write him as multifaceted, when they give him layers and layers of personality. he’s neither too kind or too harsh... he has motivations, aspirations... bonus points if he’s a ride or die for his friends but would rather perish than let them know he cares... namjoon... well, wish on a fish!namjoon has to be my fave too HSAJDHJAS i just... love juxtaposing his ingenuity with stupidity... i tend to enhance that aspect of him bc i think it’s hilarious, and there’s just something incredibly endearing about it? especially when he’s paired with another person who is clearly more level-headed but with their moments of stupidity too (mayhaps thats why i love namgi and namjin a lot lol) but umm!! i just love it when people make him this bumbling fool with too much love to give... he’s just a ball of feelings and i love it when a fic focuses on his road to understanding how to accept/lean into those emotions ;w;

SEOKJIN... y’all already know how i like to characterize him... bold, stupid, kinda insane, but with his soft moments. i love it when people make him hilarious bc he really is funny irl, though i admit i love fics where they make him incredibly tender as well. i like it when he’s kinda tsundere but not in the same way that yoongi is, more like “i care about my friends but i’m gonna be a shithead about it and you’re gonna have to pry my insanity off my dead hands before i’d EVER show you how much i actually really fucking care.” and i think the fave seokjin i’ve ever written was like... fox rain!seokjin. i know that fic lowkey diedt and you’ve only seen his chaotic side in that fic, but believe me... he’s got a fleshed out personality and i just gotta get around to writing it :^) 

gotta love tlhc hoseok in this household... sorry folks... for always making him sad...
