I’m Just going to say this. I’m not the one who will always tell you exactly what you want to hear. I’m not the one who will come on here to call Jimin and Jungkook liars just because i want people or myself to keep believing that Jikook never have bad days or go through ups and downs in whatever relationship they are in. I don’t look at things through rose colored lenses, I look at things from realistic and objective point of view as much as I can so if all you want to hear is how perfect Jikook are or how they never fight, never hurt each other or never have bad days, then maybe my blog is not the right place for you.

I am still firm in my belief in Jikook despite what they have said because I never looked at them and thought I was watching fantasy in the first place. I always viewed them as two human beings who were learning how to navigate this this thing called life while being under the most complicated circumstances ever and when you look at things from that angle, it doesn’t surprise you that two people possibly in a romantic relationship have off moments. Stop for a second and try to look at your own romantic relationship or that of any of your siblings or best friends. What does it look like? Is it all roses and honey? It is all smiles from morning to night? Is it all smooth sailing? If it isn’t then why on god’s green earth would you expect Jimin and Jungkook’s to be when those two are probably dealing with alot more than you or anyone else you know is dealing with?

I have always tried to give my honest opinions on things regardless of whether I think people will like to hear it or not and honestly it they are just my opinions and not the LAW so it shouldn’t be a big deal anyways. Also, it is ok for you to think differently from me or have different opinions and we can discuss them and then agree to disagree and keep it moving. I understand people wanting to only hear good things or things that only affirm jikook being real and I know that it feels good but you and I know that reality isn’t always pretty or pleasant so before you come to send me an ask coming at me for NOT calling Jimin and Jungkook liars, please just unfollow or block me because while I understand that Jimin and Jungkook probably do lie and have probably lied before and will probably continue keeping somethings to themselves as far as the true nature of their relationship is concerned, I will not be the one to only believe them when it suits me and call them liars when it doesn’t. I’m going to vent. Sit tight for an artist’s reflection on the acotar fandom!

I was going to use tumblr to strictly post art (at least on my end) and engage with the wonderful ppl here as well. Except what I’ve been seeing as of late is a lot of abuse (across platforms) and it’s very jarring. As an artist, I understand to make the most of your experience in a toxic fandom is to say nothing and do nothing that bothers those a bit **too** passionate about their opinions. I get it, I’m used to being content fodder from other fandoms. So I am not new to this.

But this fandom is *so* toxic that I immediately understood why artists choose to stay neutral or entirely avoid making art for this fandom at all. I have several art friends interested in the books but won’t touch the fandom with a ten foot pole from what they’ve seen. What I’ve personally witnessed the past few months is genuinely disgusting. The only reason I’m here after being FLAMED on twitter is because 1) I began posting BECAUSE people were so kind and encouraging and I don’t want to leave them and the possibility of befriending others 2) I was fully prepared to be dragged for the smallest offense.

I didn’t want to believe people would be downright atrocious to me for Elain, being starborn, holding the sword that reflects her (as I’ve stated when I paralleled quotes) but that’s what they were: awful. And what I got in turn was: why are you victimizing yourself this is what other artists deal with! Ok?? And!? Why is it appropriate AT ALL. Why is it fine for you to do that? I don’t care what anyone ships, why do you feel entitled to comment nastiness under someone’s art. To directly be in their mentions mocking the concept and the way it looks or how you hate the character. It brings me and others joy.. why are you being ruthless? For a fictional character??

It’s too much. And you know, this is my first fandom experience where the shipping is so extreme. I would’ve loved multi shipping as I’ve done it in other fandoms, I really don’t care for what sort of crack ships people make up (though I have my limitations, I think everyone does. “Notp”.) But you know what I DON’T DO as an adult? Ridicule artists for their work. They are providing content FOR FREE. And if they aren’t, they are gifting you with their expertise and talent. You are scaring people away.

I was afraid of joining and just stayed on the sidelines for months just enjoying arts in peace. I only gave in because I showed some friends some of my sketches and they ADORED it. And pleaded that I post. So I did, and I found many others really wanted me to continue posting. So I do. Were it not for the toxicity, I would’ve drawn all types of ships because I’m genuinely someone that does not care about the ship and if it’s canon or endgame or not, if I like the characters and the vibe- cool. Draw it. That’s the beauty of fanart.

But people are acting diabolically UNHINGED over it. And treating artists like they’re players and they’re revoking sponsorships. Fandom should not be a competition. That is exhaustive and tiring. I shouldn’t have to be fearful of the engagements on my posts. I don’t even have 500 followers yet on ANY of my platforms. And still, I am treated like filth. I need people to reflect on their behavior, recognize if they don’t like something ignore it or block it or what have you and be at peace. Stop giving into negativity and using artists as some pawn- they have feelings TOO! And you really turn them off to a character or a ship or a fandom in general with the way you act.

I have my comments off where I can keep them off because I simply don’t want 1) people arguing in my comments and 2) comments that are generally unhelpful or just shaming me for what I post. But twitter I really can’t help what happens. And tumblr too there’s some limits I can take and a filtering system I can take advantage of but even here people lack etiquette. I don’t understand where people get off acting like mean girls over things people made.

This is the most extreme, unhealthy fandom I have ever been in and I’m really not all shocked when I hear an artist quit and doesn’t want to partake. This is not a competition of who has it worse. Stop bullying artists because they don’t make content that pleases you. Just drop it. I can’t believe I am being called TOXIC for defending myself and my art. And I know who these people are, I know exactly the type of content they themselves post and it’s COMEDY to be telling ME I’m toxic for standing up for myself.

Most artists leave or go silent. That’s what you want, right? Or to antagonize them to the point they really lose patience with you. This is me losing patience: a call to being better. Be the change you seek. It’s funny I have people going at me and in their bio it says “ spread kindness not hate” Pardon??

Seriously, I would’ve liked to explore any theory and a variety of arts despite my preferences but the way people act with what I DO put out, I’m just sour. I don’t even want to expand beyond the two characters I really like because I have a headache already with the “you don’t really care about-“ takes that I’ve seen other artists get when they expand what they draw in this fandom.

It shouldn’t offend you that an artist has a preference and wants to share the things that they found intriguing or makes them happy. And if it does, cry about it in private at minimum. Stop dumping your grief onto the artists. That’s all. Maybe then you will see a resurgence of artists that do content for free (and frequently) or a return of artists who left.

Okay, in my opinion, we have three possible explanations for the wind bag situation:

1. Aeolus plays really dirty and puts some spell or hypnosis on the bag, making Eurylochus want to open it without any logical reason. Honestly, I don't think he/she/whatever Aeolus is would do this, as it would make the game far less interesting. But still, it’s a possibility. If this is true, then the gods are to blame for the opening of the bag; Eurylochus can only be blamed for a weak willpower.

2. He opens the bag because of treasure rumors. This is possible, but still kind of... dumb. Is the crew, and especially Eurylochus, really that greedy? Doesn’t he already have his share of the treasures from Troy? And more importantly, what was he planning to do with the treasure in the middle of the sea? Ok, Ithaca was near, but they were still on the ship. The captain was going to notice, and there aren’t many hiding places on the ship, so... just why? Is it really because of simple greed? If so, then Eurylochus is totally to blame for this.

3. Because of distrust toward the gods and toward the (supposedly tricked by them) Odysseus. This is even dumber than greed. It's so dumb that I feel the need to elaborate with several points here:

3.1 Odysseus is (and it isn’t a secret to anybody) Athena's champion. Athena is a goddess, right? She guided Odysseus through ten years of war. With her help, Odysseus didn’t lose a single soldier during those ten years. So, Eurylochus should know at least something about trusting the gods. I won’t even mention that this is a world where gods walk on Earth, and you could actually meet one, so he should be significantly more religious. If a god in such a world gives you something dangerous, are you sure you shouldn’t trust them about this danger?

3.2 This leads us to a crucial point. Eurylochus knows that gods are dangerous, so their gifts are dangerous too. He was specifically warned about this ("something dangerous, friends"). He knows that Odysseus is willing to risk his own life (staying awake for 9 days) to prevent the bag from being opened. So, one simple question arises: What makes him think that opening the bag on a ship full of people is truly safe? Why is he so sure it won’t kill all of them? If he believes the bag is dangerous (as he really should), why not throw it overboard? Or find a safe, deserted place on land to open it (if he is crazy enough to risk his life for this)? Why literally poke a finger inside what is most likely a divine bomb, risking the lives of his own crew? I think this is really silly and selfish on his part, and I just don’t understand this level of... well, stupidity.

By the way, because of Poseidon, we just don’t know if some people on the ships were already killed by a sudden storm burst from the bag, which is totally possible.

On the other hand, if Eurylochus considers the bag safe to open... that’s just too naive for him...

3.3 Anyway, what was Eurylochus expecting to prove by opening the bag? That the bag was dangerous? As if that hadn’t already been made clear enough? Or did he think the bag was safe to open and that it was just a joke from Aeolus? The danger might not even be in the bag itself but rather in the conditions the god placed on their agreement with Odysseus. What if the god intended to kill Odysseus or the crew if the bag was opened? Eurylochus couldn’t know this for sure. And what was the point of risking it when they were almost home? Just curiosity? Or some urge to prove that “Odysseus was or wasn’t lying about the bag”? Was that really a good enough reason to risk lives over it?

So, I think the third reason is the worst. But it seems like Eurylochus's defenders prefer it the most...

I mean this the nicest way possible but have you considered the fact that you just .. hate RPF? Wich is fine, like you said it's a gray area. It's not everyone's cup of tea, actually! It's not even mine because I actually came across those trailers you said! And I instantly went "ew wtf" and I clicked not interested, and then I another showed up, and clicked not interested, and then the algorithm went ok got it, and it's been a while thankfully, that hasn't showed up. So, what I mean is, there is content in the internet that is weird, that's for sure, but there's like... Ways to avoid it? And the way that this has been a persistent subject in your blog in such a deep way makes me think that you suffer it more than anyone, wich is fine but just, don't look at it anymore? I don't know what to say honestly because, again no to be rude but youre making the MOST out of it. And it's like you're treating fandom culture like this deep dark secret when its as public as it can be and I promise you the most a person can do is feel weirded out and mute that content, and hope it doesn't show up.! But for example, I hate povs content, and that has to be the most persistent content I've seen so far on F1, full of "you're the wife/girl/sister" blah blah and I'm a lesbian, I've clicked not interested so many times I lost count and IT KEPT showing up (until i figured muting y/n, driver x reader helps) so if it keeps you more calm there are ways to avoid content you dont like!

I get where you’re going with this but also, nah. I’ve always loved RPF and will keep consuming it whenever I can. I just make a big stink out of seeing it outside of tumblr and ao3 because of algorithms and the way I was taught to interact with RPF about fifteen years ago in which….these things have to stay within their intended circles at all costs. This is back when fandom content was not cool and mainstream and unless you kept your fandom life and your actual life very separate you get bullied to hell for it. Now, I often feel like the pendulum has swung a little too far the other way and there’s such a massive influx of new people because fandom culture is trendy that fandom etiquette is starting to collapse. The treatment of RPF being one of them.

RPF differs from POV content in two ways. The first is that POV content is a little more accepted than RPF in the general consciousness, usually because it’s het but also because it’s very obvious this is a self insert fantasy which while I imagine is awkward for drivers to see, can be easily laughed off as being so obviously just a fantasy. RPF on the other hand builds off of pre-existing relationships and lore and is usually slash, which already introduces an awkward element (and you can say the men shouldn’t have toxic masculinity all you like, it’s not just them that’s the issue it’s everyone who perceives them and the content), also it’s more difficult because people DO talk about these pairings platonically. In order to not experience Lestappen on my tiktok FYP, I can’t interact with any video that mentions those two in the same breath ever because the algorithm will eventually push me ship content even if I don’t want to see it and I click not interested. This happens over and over again.

I love RPF which am just on super high alert about RPF safe spaces being breached because I know from lived experience that it doesn’t bode well. This is also just personally not the way I was taught to interact with fandom, and again I’ve seen enough shit in my time to understand why that etiquette had to be enforced.

I really don’t understand people’s need to find reasons to not like Rhaenyra. What is there to like about her? She’s the most insufferable, boring and annoying main character I’ve ever seen. I really couldn’t care less about her having harwin strongs children. Like who cares??? Her relationship with harwin was also boring her character never does anything!

People like her because she’s the “rightful heir” also doesn’t make sense to me. Ok, she’s the queen. She’s still a horrible main character and I’m falling asleep everytime she’s on my screen. Her only line in s2 is I’m my dad’s heir.

I feel like the discussion regarding her character is only focused on her having bastards/ her being the rightful heir / why she shouldn’t be the queen because there is nothing else to talk about. She’s not a good or interesting character in any way.

i do agree that 95% of the rhaenyra post i see are about why she should \ shouldn't be queen (bastards, succussion etc. etc.) and hardly any posts discussing her as a character. but the show hardly explores rhaenyra as a character. she has so much potential to be a great character but it's wasted in an attempt to whitewash her character & make a daenaerys parallel. rhaenyra the character is disregarded by the show itself, so the discussion around her makes sense to me.

the show's refuses to explore her flaws & letting her have any to begin with! she only becomes "book rhaenyra" when the plot needs her to and then those moments are conveniently forgotten by the narrative & the characters (like rhaenyra saying aemond should be tortured, rhaenys suspecting rhaenyra's involvement in laenor's death, marrying daemon on laena's funeral, starving the people of KL, how she treated rhaena...) all of those moment could've been used to create a more interesting well-rounded character but instead are "forgotten". (alicent's character also suffers from that problem)

so when we get to s2 rhaenyra is literally not allowed to do anything. she can't want to go to war because that's bad, she's not allowed to want revenge because that's bad, she needs to have a "moral & just" motivation for wanting the throne because her wanting the throne just because it was promised is not noble enough. all she can do is just walk around dragonstone saying "what would you have me do" & in ep 7 her "arc" feels weird and out-of-character.

You should know the scene from The Boys in context of the show is actually really gross and paints the kink scene in a really bad light.

That scene is yet another in a list of traumatic experiences for that character who had no intention of doing anything sexual and did not have a safeword, and it is ultimately an instance of sexual assault if you watch the full episode. Also the character who brought him into his sex dungeon is a literal fascist who makes money off of slave labor in the U.S. prison system.

In a realistic kink setting, even with the suit, the Dom/Domme should recognize when someone is genuinely uncomfortable and ask “do you want this to stop” just in case the sub gets non-verbal or has some mental situation that keeps them from remembering an agreed upon safeword.

If that truly non-con scenario gets you horny then ok for you personally, but be aware the people doubling down to defend this scene to vanilla viewers are NOT helping the optics of the community because it makes us look like we don’t understand how to communicate consent when we actually have clear rules and scenes like this in mainstream media need to be THOROUGHLY DENOUNCED by us.

There’s a lot here, so let’s start with this. Your frustration and disappointment about the scene is completely justified.

For me, I think it’s a really shocking, long and good tickling scene. And by that, I mean the setup, the tickles, the laughter, etc. Taking all morality out of it, if I was watching the tickling part in a video I’d be into it.

In a realistic setting, this would be disgusting. It is not something I would even think about doing to someone non-consensually in real life. But to play devil’s advocate, if you are someone who watches clips, 99% of them in a realistic setting are bad. There’s a difference between an adult film and an adult show, but if you throw realism into any of it, it’s not a positive light. Imagine going to your doctor’s office and actually being strapped down and tickled? It would be a terrible thing to happen.

In the world of the show, the characters in the scene minus the lee are horrible. They’re meant to be horrible and the lee, for the most part, they believe he is consenting to this, since he’s pretending to be a very kinky guy. These characters don’t have the morality to realize or care that he actually wants to stop. And when they do realize it, things get much worse.

After everything that happened in the show to this character, it’s another kick him while he’s down moment. A bizarre breaking point for a character who is going through a lot. As for the fascist, without spoiling it too much, he doesn’t get away without consequence and the ler continues to suck as a person so there’s no celebrating of them either.

For me, I can watch this scene for what it is because it’s a show. And it’s that type of show. I don’t expect a tickling or kink scene from The Boys to be handled with grace. I don’t expect most TV shows to do that, even Bonding, which was supposed to be a positive spotlight on the kink community. It’s not gonna think about realism. It’s played for laughs. Whether people actually found it funny, is up for debate. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people didn’t and I get why. But I also get why on paper, the other thing he had to do and the tickling could be seen as funny/gross out humor.

Me personally, I haven’t seen kink people doubling down to defend this scene. I don’t doubt that they have, but the only thing I’ve seen are Boys fans double down but they meant the scene in general and not the kink community. If that is going on, they shouldn’t do that. People have a right to feel how they feel about the scene.

As for what it does for the community, it doesn’t help, and this may not be the best attitude by me towards it, but I’m used to it. There’s a small list of scenes in mainstream media that help bring kink and especially tickling into a positive light. It’s your usual “freaky stuff is funny” trope. It’ll go into a long list of mainstream things that will bother us but will be forgotten quickly over time by vanilla people. Should there be more positive depictions of kink in mainstream media? Yes. But The Boys wasn’t the first and they won’t be the last.

beyond being gross and weird I think there’s something to be said about the lack of literary analysis in proshipping (this post is about mp100 in particular but this can apply elsewhere)

there’s two points I’m getting at here: lack of understanding of the characters being interpreted, and intent of author

first of all, the common rebuttal to “he would not fucking say that” is “it’s just fiction and for fun” (which is just a really common rebuttal for everything but that’s beside my point). But that point lacks acknowledgement that their interpretation isn’t based on the source material. For example: Reigen, the guy who notoriously stood up against a terrorist organization to keep kids from being in danger, being interpreted as a pedophile (there’s no soft way to put it). It’s going directly against what is set up in a (in my opinion) disrespectful way. Also there’s a point to be made about trampling over platonic relationships for the sake of shipping and how that applies to proship but i digress!

There are methods to have characters act in ways they would not normally. In fact, most of my favorite fics across all of my fandoms do this!! What they all have in common is an understanding of that character that explains what pushed them to the point of deconstructing their own morals and values. “Wouldn’t it be fucked up if this happened?” works so much better when you can see how it led to that point. And even then I’d venture to say there are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed, knowing these characters do in fact belong to the author, but me drawing lines in the sand isn’t going to be accurate to everyone’s view. It’s always going to be a nuanced topic!

Second of all is the importance of authors intent when reading. Rather than applying this to the base media, however, I’m pivoting focus onto those creating proship content. What is their intent while writing? Through unfortunate exposure in Multiple fandoms I see these common reasons: fluffy content with or without acknowledging the ship being (for lack of a better word. i wish i knew a better one) problematic, dark content such as gore or rape, or (there’s no way to put this lightly) jackoff material. Keep in mind these are generalizations, but im also not giving some of these people the time of day to add defenses.

The “fluffy” content I can sometimes see as the author of the content not understanding the consequence of the ship itself (incest and pedophilia bad) due to a multitude of factors, and I genuinely do think there are learning experiences for them in non negative or aggressive ways. Dark content I can make a case that this is a form of self harm whether intentional or unintentional, however for some this gets looped into the last category. Finally, it’s pretty obvious some people just yank their shit to incest and pedophilia and I REALLY don’t think I need to explain why that’s bad. Point is, it’s important to consider proshippers intent, and how it’s more complex than just gross people who are intentionally malicious. I think there’s learning experiences here for every proshipper, however those who refuse to acknowledge that their actions have consequences (entirely different post to make there about how proshipping can in fact have real life repercussions) I hold a special vendetta against.

To conclude I’ll say I’m not someone who calls myself an “Anti”. Do I hate proshipping? Yes, absolutely I do. But I also enjoy fiction with darker topics that are handled in a critical manner!! Think Oyasumi Punpun. Good manga btw, absolutely horrifying though. I don’t think dark subjects should be kept out of fiction but I do think they should be handled with care.

Most students are aware wearing a hat in school is just as much of a crime as vandalism of a classroom. I’m certain many students have stopped to ask themselves, “Why is this such a big deal?” and I’m even more certain the teachers would answer “it’s just tradition”. We all know, however, that this answer isn’t good enough. School is a space for education, so why shouldn’t we be educated on this rule?

Many teachers will simply tell you the hat rule is due to tradition or that it’s respectful, but what does that actually mean? Tradition goes back a long way. In the earlier 1900’s, removing your hat was a sign of respect and humbleness. You would remove your hat indoors, when it wasn’t necessary to cover your face from the sun. In fact, the tradition can stem all the way back to the earlier 1400’s, where knights were asked to remove their helmets to show their faces to nobility. But do hats truly obscure faces? Why do we ban every hat if only a few obscure faces?

Back to the respect aspect, people hinge heavily on the idea of being respectful. Have you ever felt your argument was valid, so a teacher or parent tells you that your words were “disrespectful”? Respect seems to be a way to give teachers more power, more authority. Some would say we should be respectful to all around us, and while this is true, should we remove our hats for everyone? What is respect, in its entirety?

There are two different versions of respect, I believe. There is the respect in that you treat someone like an authority, like they are above you, and the respect in that you would treat a fellow human with kindness. Students believe, generally, that they are being put into strict boxes, given mountains of different rules, or that they have to play mind games with their teachers just to comply with their different sets of rules, and none of that is mentioning the education itself. Students feel like they aren’t being respected.

On the other hand, some teachers believe they have no choice but to be authoritarian toward their students. Our school’s own Mr. Bake believes he had no choice during the single year he taught seventh graders but to be “dictator-like”. He had to be treated like an authority, and he did not give humane respect to the students in turn.

We are commonly mistaught about respect. We are taught from a young age to treat authority like they should be respected on a higher level than those on the same social level as us. We are taught not to question, to just believe in tradition. Some authority figures will say, “if you do not respect me, I will not respect you.” But they do not understand the two versions of respect. If you do not treat me like an authority, I will not treat you like a human.

The hats represent self expression. Freedom. Trust. These things are taken from students; they’re told how to dress and how to think, and the teachers feel they have no choice but to oppress the students. Balance and trust are difficult to obtain, but if we understand respect properly, we can learn to respect our teachers as fellow humans, and they can learn to respect us as much as we do them.

Maia has every right to be mad and she is right. what kind of wolf pack leader puts shadowhunters who are known to hunt wolves and kill then without reason over their own wolves? it a really fucked thing to do. a wolf pack needs to know that their leader will fight for them and protect them. how can you trust Luke if he only remembers you exist when clary needs saving and is hardly there for you?

I sure wouldn’t trust that kind of leader. there were so many avenues that Luke could have used in this scenario with valentine and the sword but he chose to punish Maia, use her fears against her, and lock her up. while it’s understandable why she’s terrified. Clary is out there while everyone knows she’s a key to unlocking the soul sword so downworlders can die. anyone would be upset about that and rightfully so. but it’s just another example of how clary goes unpunished, how she can do whatever she wants without consequences, and how everyone is desperate to save her. if I were maia, I couldn’t look at Luke the same way again. he’s shown his true colors

and just to show how unfair the treatment of downworlders is, later in this season shadowhunters get killed and they are all in like the shadowhunters are mad and make it their top priority but when downworlders die- they don’t punish anyone. Valentine is arrested for previous crimes and jace doesn’t get punished at all. he lifted the sword and didn’t use any common sense because he believes the villain. Valentine isn’t always wrong but you have to be real stupid to believe everything Valentine says.

Jace believes he’s a demon without any evidence, believes clary is his sister without any evidence, believes he can destroy the soul sword without any evidence, believes valentine in his father once again without any evidence. yes Magnus saw a vision but there hasn’t been any evidence showing that it’s jace the vision is about. Jace grew up with a fake Michael wayland but he still doesn’t have proof that Valentine is his blood. it’s funny how most shadowhunters act superior and how they’re better and how jace is the best but he can’t use any fucking common sense or investigate like a normal shadowhunter would. at least Alec uses his brain and plans shit out. and jace goes unpunished for his crimes against downworld in early season two. he’s only punished because he’s not highly devoted to the clave. if a downworlder fights back, they’re awful and must be defeated but if shadowhunters kill downworlders, it’s a okay

I have a major issue with this storyline and how things are kept from downworld so they don’t fight back. let’s not tell them that their deaths are being planned so they don’t get angry and revolt SO MUCH BLOODY FUCKING OPPRESSION TO THE DOWNWORLD COMMUNITY. they get hunted for centuries and shadowhunters are like yeah sorry about that but don’t fight back because we will make hell for y’all. some of the shadowhunters behavior is similar to how everyone treats jace and clary. have to worship them 24/7 and can’t ever be angry with them. and Alec seems to be the only shadowhunter I can think of that actually tries to change things

1. if people are upset about me writing nsfw for seobsoul, i could honestly not care less. the argument i have seen in most kpop nsfw writing discourse for idols who have recently turned 18 is that it somehow “doesn’t matter” that the people typically writing these works about these idols are literally in the same age range, sometimes even younger than said idols, for example, seobsoul. i have never written nsfw for seobsoul before they turned 18, and i don’t even think i started writing fanfiction for p1harmony before seob was 18 😭 do these people honestly think that we don’t see that they write for intak in the same way i write for seobsoul? people started writing smut for intak when he turned 18 as well, but it’s suddenly a huge issue when someone born in the same year as seobsoul writes for them too. mind you, intak is a total of 2 years older than jongseob and shota!!

2. i have nsfw warnings on my page for a reason. if people who don’t like nsfw for seobsoul choose willingly to snoop around on my page, that’s their prerogative. i clearly have different opinions on this topic than they do and that is ok! nothing i have written towards jongseob and soul has ever been predatory so to paint me as a weirdo is silly imo. if a p1ece is attracted to a member that is the same age range as them, why do they have to wait “a year or two” to write smut about them? that doesn’t even sound genuine in the slightest 😭 waiting to write smut doesn’t equate to not having sexual fantasies about them at their current age, it just means you’re scared of how people will react. i however, am not because why the hell would i be embarrassed of natural attraction to men my age?

no ok the more I’m reading through the hotd tag the more pissed off I’m getting bc what do you mean the blood and cheese scene was underwhelming???????? I understand that it was extremely different from the source material and that people had high expectations for the screen adaptation, but the way most of y’all are complaining about it has me sick to be honest.

The main complaint I’m seeing (and willing to argue against bc there are some other gripes that I refuse to entertain) is that it was “less impactful” and that it “doesn’t do Helaena’s character justice”. I’m seeing people say that the horror of the situation was lost without Helaena’s pleading and offering herself in their place to save her children, and that her descent into madness will make less sense now without her Sophie’s Choice backfiring on her and being forced to live with the guilt of sentencing one son to die only for the other to be killed instead. I think this response of pleading and begging and offering oneself in place of a loved one (especially a child) is easy to understand and I believe we all would like to think that it would be our response in an unimaginable situation such as the one Helaena is faced with, but when it comes down to the actual trauma response, no one knows until they’re in it.

Some background on trauma responses: when faced with trauma, a person’s response tends to fall into one of four categories. Most people associate the term with the more commonly known responses of fight or flight, but the other two lesser known responses are freeze or fawn. Freeze is rather self explanatory with the person essentially going into shock and failing to react at all. Fawn is probably the least commonly known response with the person essentially resorting to people pleasing and appeasing in order to avoid further harm.

Where book!Helaena’s response was fight, show!Helaena’s response was fawn (and arguably freeze with what appeared to be disassociation). That doesn’t make her wrong or a bad mother as some of you are suggesting. She was experiencing an extremely traumatic event with a knife to her throat and two sleeping children only feet away from her with her only options being to surrender her son or risk losing them both as well as her own life. Trauma responses aren’t something we control, and blaming her for hers is greatly misunderstanding the nuance of it all. Showing that there ARE multiple ways to respond in traumatic situations made sense with this version of Helaena’s character with all of her other reactions we have seen throughout the show so far.

I get that people are also mad that Alicent wasn’t there for the situation and especially that she was instead fucking Cole, but I honestly think that that is a different horror of its own. Book!Alicent shared in Helaena’s trauma of being forced to choose between her children and is helpless, but show!Alicent doesn’t even know that there is danger. She doesn’t know that their security was breeched (partially due to the fact that she is fucking the HEAD of security at the moment) and she doesn’t know that her daughter has just had to make the impossible decision to surrender her son to save her daughter, knowing that her daughter is “of lesser value” and that SHE will be blamed for the heir to the throne being assassinated in front of her while she was powerless to stop it. Alicent will feel the guilt of not knowing that her daughter needed help and she will feel the guilt that while it was happening she was “sinning against the gods” with a man she knows she shouldn’t be. Holier than thou Alicent was caught in the worst possible way and I doubt she will forgive herself.

I can understand being annoyed when an adaptation strays from the source material, but being upset that this particular event was “watered down” or “sanitized for television” has me questioning why you wanted to see a pure translation of the scene in the first place. The shows have diverted from the books for better and for worse in the past and while I understand and agree with book purists on some storylines or scenes being changed, this is one I firmly believe was justified.

We would make fun of conservatives for there stupid and incoherent arguments and ideas. But when it comes to veganism and animal liberation I suddenly will get the same conservative almost religious reason thrown back at me on why it’s ok to exploit animals.

This is something that every one of us can relate to, and you’re completely justified in your feelings here. You’re not mean or selfish, it’s a natural, exasperated and angry response to the people around you supporting injustice.

I’d just say that it is important to remember that there is enormous social pressure and vast propaganda apparatus in place to keep people eating animals. It is unique among all forms of oppression because it is quite so socially accepted and almost ubiquitous in most communities. Those years of habit forming, conditioning and belief reinforcement takes time, effort and a great deal of introspection to unravel.

It is likely your friend is does care, she just doesn’t show that care in her behaviour. It is easier for her to just pretend she doesn’t care because she knows there is no responding to that for you, and no reckoning with her own values and how her behaviour does not align with them for her. True apathy or amorality are extremely rare, for most people this is just a defence mechanism, albeit a horribly selfish one.

Keep advocating for animals, keep being honest about your opinion, but try not to let it sour your relationship with those you love. I feel so sorry for the mod because of all the Jirai asks that get flooded on here daily but I literally won’t shut up about this…

the only reason we’re even having this stupid Jirai discourse in the first place is because people love mindlessly consuming shit and spreading misinformation from overseas and that being topped by brands using words they shouldn’t use for their money hungry profit and stupid aesthetics. Consumerism has rotten everyone’s brains ever since aesthetics became this insanely important thing to make someone feel connected to whatever they do. The rise of aesthetics as a whole has ruined how people consume and enjoy things and it’s gotten to the point where people mindlessly use a slur for their clothing style.

I also don’t understand why it’s so hard for (especially western) people to stop using the word Jirai, if y’all are against using slurs like the r-word or n-word (which you should!) then why aren’t you against using Jirai? Just because Japanese girls use it for themselves? Most of the time that’s not even the case and you are the ones calling them Jirai girls because of their style. The tag is literally overflown with white women or fashion influencers. And even if a Japanese girl calls herself a Jirai, that would be the same category as black people calling each other the n-word. Its not your word to use since it doesn’t get used against you and it doesn’t involve you, no matter how much you think it does. You don’t get called Jirai by other people and get looked down upon for being mentally ill in a Japanese society that has the highest suicide rate. It’s not for westerners to decide what they are allowed to use or not. Idk why everyone is so obsessed with using whatever word they want as soon as it’s connected to Japan. The word doesn’t belong to westerners and they shouldn’t use it. Point blank period! Is it so hard to not call yourself a slur? Just because y’all want clicks on instagram and feel like you belong to a group? It’s disgusting. Nothing else. Use the BPD tag or Menhera tag for all I know. But don’t use a slur.

And I swear if I see one more person say girly kei isn’t a thing is gonna have to fight with me…the fashion has been called that for ages and just because some stupid YouTuber and afterwards fashion magazine decided to connect it to a slur everyone thinks it’s ok to use it? Pure insanity.…same goes for a bunch of famous western „Jirai influencer“ (Jesus that word alone makes me sick, imagine profiting from mentally ill people) shaming or trying to remove mentally ill girls from Jirai just because it makes them uncomfortable. It’s insanely annoying to see how many westerners are trying to erase Japanese people from the conversation and origin of Jirai just because „i want my silly little clothes and aesthetic that have a dark origin but I’m not like these people so please pay attention to me and give me clicks and likes but don’t associate me with these disgusting people thehe“

Anyway. I’m fucking tired of this discussion and every day I get reminded why I stopped engaging with the j-fashion community as a whole just because people forgot how to act and think critically about things all for the sake of profit and consumption and some stupid likes on the internet.
