blade fits the part of dante being thrown in prison for almost a decade and still being vengeful, but it's more yandere-y. jingyuan fits the part of dante acting as the mysterious sponsor/person behind the scenes with a shitton of money, especially that part where i think dante's actions ends up driving someone to suicide (it's been like 2-3 years since i've read it, so my memory is a little fuzzy). sampo probably fits the best overall - doing stuff behind the scenes, making a bunch of fake aliases and identities, inviting people to do drugs in his hidden castle, all of that, i can see sampo doing.

anyways do you have any other books? i highly recommend the eighth life by nino harastischwili, it's my Favourite of All Time it's so good

The 'he's old enough to be your father' line is a joke, and a throwaway one at that. I had that exact conversation with someone years ago at an old job: Stan was the co-worker who commented on my attraction and I said the 'I don't have a dad' line. The entire conversation revolves around Reader and Stan bantering. It's never brought up again because that's all it is: a joke. Whoever is reading it can just laugh (or not) and skim over it. It's never actually meant to be taken seriously and it never comes up again. That whole scene was actually inspired by the R&M 'beekeeping age' skit too. It's just a silly thing and it's supposed to be taken as comical, not literal.

When Ford thinks of his attraction as inappropriate, it's because he's technically their boss and for a bunch of other reasons we'll get into in later chapters.

I try really hard to make everything relating to Reader as ambiguous as possible. Reader can be read as any age because I'm never going to give them an age.

Reader has no age, no weight, no race, no fashion, nothing. That's an incredibly purposeful thing that I've done and frankly, it's been very hard to pull off, but I think I do okay with it.

I will likely make something that is (comically) age-gap related in the future, but I'll do it as a separate piece so that anyone it doesn't relate to can skip it. I have a funny idea for a fic with Ford that revolves around something that happened to me a long time ago: I was working and my client was an older gent (70s), and someone at a restaurant asked me 'would your grandfather like to sit down'........ And that's hilarious to me, so I want to write it. But I'm more than half the age of that client so it makes sense in context, but for someone who is 60, it's less so. Which means I can still write what I want, but I can still make it inclusive by giving my audience a choice as to whether or not they engage with that particular story.

I do think the market is focused on younger people and I understand that that's because a LOT of people who write reader stuff do tend to be younger, and they naturally write for themselves which is fine. But they're not the only people in the fandom and they don't have the right to own the floor all the time. I'm not suggesting that's what you're implying, but it could come across as that if I was to uncharitable. Luckily for you, I'm very charitable :)

You gotta remember: I'm 30 years old. I've only got so many years left in the tank before I'm the 'old head' 53 year old who is the biggest Ford Pines fan ever. My interest won't just die with age, and you'll find that yours won't either as you age.

I've also said before that Stan uses 'kid' almost as pejorative. It doesn't actually relate to age at all. So Reader isn't coded to be any particular age.

And also, it's worth noting that I don't care about inappropriate age gaps in fiction so I don't really need to ground my fics in that way all the time. If an in-universe character was to disapprovingly bring up the age gap to my insert character, they would be inclined to tell that person to take a long walk off a short pier LMAO.

When you think about age in the future, anon, remember the words of Grandpa Simpson: "and it'll happen to YOU."

oikeesti nimenomaan ateenalaiset tuli mulle mieleen ennen kaikkea siks kun siinä on se valokuva sirkasta koko ajan kyl sä tiiät. eihän ateenalaiset oikeesti mee mitenkään yks yhteen ton postauksen kanssa, mutta ei se toisaalta mee hirveen kauaskaan välttämättä. jotain jotain että kun siellä rintamalla se kuva ja kirjeet (joita ateenalaissirkka tarkoituksella vähän säveltää sellaiseen asuun mitä ajattelee kartsan haluavan kuulla) on ainoa konkreettinen asia sirkasta mitä kartsalla on, niin vaikka (ja koska) kartsa on ihan oikeesti aivan suunnattoman ihastunutrakastunut sirkkaan ihan silleen sirkkana niin väkisinkin se välimatka ja aika ja kartsan yleinen idealistisuus saa aikaan sen että se alkaa rakentaa sirkasta vähän just semmosta kiiltokuvaa

...ja ellei sotaa olisi niin sirkka call outtais kartsan tästä, mutta nyt se vaan rationalisoi tän itelleen sillee et jos tää kiiltokuva auttaa kartsaa jaksamaan siellä niin okei koska haluaa kartsan jaksavan siellä mut et sen on pakko loppuu sitten kun rauha tulee. että kun rauha tulee niin sit kartsan täytyy ottaa ne ruusunpunaiset lasit silmiltä ja jos sirkan pitää riisua ne siltä itse niin sit se on just niin. mutta tietysti kartsa kuolee ennen kuin tällaista ehtii tapahtua

ei mulla ateenalaisiin ollut siis tämän tiimoilta mitään varsinaista lisättävää, sitä vaan mietin että kuitenkin sodan jälkeen sekä sirkka että lammio tietäis että kariluodon olis täytynyt kohdata se arki ja todellisuus ja epätäydellisyys sen idealisoidun ihastusmielikuvan takana ja nyt se on niillä semmonen iso ikuinen mitä jos (tai mitä sitten kun) -momentti, jota kumpikin varmaan pyörittelisi mielessään jos johonkin suuntaan, mutta sitten kun ite aattelen että lähtökohtaisesti lammio ei haluaisi jäädä pohtimaan tuollaisia joutavia muutenkaan kun mitään ei voi enää tehdä (jotain jotain sota on sotaa) ja toisaalta että sirkka ei haluais surettaa itseään miettimällä että mitä jos kartsa ei enää oliskaan halunnut häntä tajuttuaan ettei hän osaa olla se kartsan ihannesirkka. mutta mitä jos. ja mutta mitä jos kaikki olis toisaalta mennyt hyvin. mutta kun sitäkin on turha miettiä kun kartsa on kuollut eikä näiden auta kuin jatkaa eteenpäin.

how often do you read non-oi manhwas? shadowless night and blinded by the setting sun (i know i recommended this before but i love it it's so good the ml and fl makes me feel things and the actual character development and worldbuilding makes me go hrrgrgggggh) have to be some of my favourites outside of traditional reincarnation oi. fl of shadowless night reminds me of stelle in the 'deadly trash panda' way, her head may be empty but her hands sure are filled with knives (and food). ml also got that jing yuan vibes

I have seen it around before and it's so pretty I love it I don't read a whole lot of non-oi/reincarnation manhwa mainly bc they're either usually hard to find or translated in such a way that is difficult to understand hdjsjhfnjd ;w; but I have read some! I rather enjoy the more typical medieval-style world ones with magic and stuff, and the lead finding their way on their own merit, like the remarried empress. navier obv isn't reincarnated or isekai'd, she's just a badass!!

I love the saint/cardinal idea, I counter with this: he's from the Destiny religion in Stellaron, but he went to the Xianzhou Empire to "spread the word" (but really, he's there for his own means, perhaps something to do w/ that coffin in canon if more info about him comes out soon). this is because in the quests he's in, luocha mentions that "luocha" is just the name he goes by on the xianzhou, not his actual name! I did want to throw in sushang as well tho so I'll see what happens!! (=♡ ᆺ ♡=)
