i'm getting more increasingly upset with the people who claim that anyone (even poc/people generally not even british, irish, scottish, etc) can practice celtic religions, indulge in the culture, and wear the clothes. they do it for the "aesthetic" and they cherry pick the things they like, like foods and clothing. not only this, but half of them don't learn the languages or know the history at all.
it's really simple to understand, if you can respect native americans when they tell you not to wear certain things or do certain things if you don't know the true meaning then why do you constantly disrespect native celts when they say no? i've seen people say because we're white it doesn't matter and i find that funny. culture isn't exclusively a poc thing, culture is music, food, practices, religion, language, clothing, and so much more. you need to respect all races and all ethnicities. and you can't use "well my ancestors were enslaved-". okay well please tell me how i am responsible for that? how every white person born, is responsible for that? "youre privelege!-" you mean the privelege that nobody has? true privelege is money, if you have it you can pay yourself out of jail even if you've actually killed someone. in america, people get paid depending on their jobs and its literally illegal to descriminate against any race in the work place. if you work at somewhere with low pay, that has nothing to do with a white person because theres a 99% chance other white people work there too. either way, two wrongs dont make a right especially when the white people you target dont even have history with slave masters.
so, on to the originaly topic, just.. stop. stop stealing things that dont belong to you. and for gods sake, dont try to make it okay by saying "the british museum" because thats the government, not the people. didn't we learn about this already? do you know how it feels for your government to go to wars with people even if you disagree on that? you learn the hard way you can't convince them what they're doing is bad because theyre so brainwashed. you can fight it, but you can't make a real impact unless you're willing to be called terrorist. oh and, also don't say "but you voted those people in!" because my answer will only be to you; you don't know how voting works. you can't just choose who's going to be the candidates, your best bet is to just find someone who's slightly less worse than the other but you can't be certain they're going to be the best of the best. obviously there's a need for a reform because of this but doing that would cause many people to die and literally nobody could ever be ready for that even if we know it's what has to be done. do you know how much damage riot police would cause? undercover cops? the fbi? a lot. so yeah, just respect native celts. and ps, no, a poc can't be a native celt. thats not how that works and us original native celts have never been black. if you're white with mixed ancestry like italian, spanish, german, or any nord you're an exception because during the invasion and colonization of old britannica the anglos and saxons, norwegian & swedish vikings, and romans invaded. spain is only an exception because of galicia and only if you're from that area.
Here's proof im celtic, by the way. This is after i downloaded my complete raw data from 23 & me and placed it into my true ancestry for results.

I'm a non native English speaker and I've noticed that with accents within England there seem to be many distinctions made between where the speaker is coming from specifically, whereas with the others it's usually just described as a Welsh, Scottish or Irish accent. Now I'm wondering if there are different regional Welsh accents or is it all just one? Does Welsh (the language) have different accents?
Oh Christ yes we really do. Yeah, this is a symptom of colonialism - England grants itself the privilege of individuality, but the rest of us are a monolith.
It's as diverse in Wales as you'd expect, really. The big obvious pronounced differences are between the cardinal directions - South Wales has a very musical cadence that more than one Indian person has told me is similar to the Delhi accent, whereas the North has a more nasal quality (although that description makes it sound ugly. In fact, it retains all the musical lyricism of the South, and thus becomes a really beautiful and unique thing. The Gwynedd accent is honestly one of my favourites in all the world, in English or Welsh.)
Meanwhile, you get more Welsh in the west, more English in the east, near the border. But of course, that means mixing whichever English accent is relevant, right? So the south east (Cardiff and Newport) combine that southern musical quality with an English West Country drawl, while the north east (Wrexham) picks up the fun slants of the English North, Liverpool and Manchester. Welshpool leans into the Midlands a little, with Shrewsbury hints.
But those are broad strokes. If you have an ear for it, you can tell which town someone is from pretty easily. I'm based around Swansea these days, and I can tell within a few sentences if someone is from Swansea, Llanelli, Carmarthen, Neath or Port Talbot, all of which are close enough together on a map that an American could probably forward roll it. I can also do Cardiff vs Newport, and coast vs Valleys. That's possible in the North too - even with my southern ear I can just about differentiate Gwynedd and Anglesey, for example. A Gog could probably tell which village, even.
A Scott could tell you more about Scottish accents, but I have Scottish friends and visit often when there's no plague. I can tell Glasgow vs Edinburgh, and there's a broad Scottish accent that seems to be centred around Perth that I can spot. I've heard Orkney in the past too and that's *really* different, because it's got Scandinavian influences. There will be others too, I just don't personally have an ear for it.

So, with everything that’s happening right now in NI, I think I’d like to talk accents for a moment.
I’ve seen people point out the fact that Katie’s accent slips sometimes. Well, yeah, of course it does, she has a native Irish accent, it’s not really an easy or a simple job to fully take on a different accent. That’s why serious productions have accent coaches, and they re-shoot scenes when a slip up occurs, because it will occur even for weathered actors who’ve trained for months.
So, whenever I see those comments that go “oh, she really can’t hide her accent”, I get slightly pissed off. Because taking on a different accent is a difficult task, and it’s not her fault if the productions are hasty and sloppy and don’t re-shoot when slip ups inevitable happen.
I’d also like to point out that the fact that she’s never been allowed to just, speak naturally, in any of her roles is really fucked up.
Like, I get it that for roles where being from a different country wouldn’t work she has to adapt to a British, or an American, or whatever other accents. But it would have been so easy, e.g. with Lena, to let her keep her accent. She could have been adopted slightly older for example. There are dozens of ways to easily explain away an accent that isn’t the one “native” to wherever your show is taking place, and that should be fine. If you walk around a city like New York, London, pretty much any place that’s made up of people from various places, you will come across thousands if not millions of different accents.
To come back to the NI thing, it’s such a “thing” in London to be identified by your accent. Whether you’re an immigrant, or if you’re Scottish, Welsh, or simply from an area outside of London, people will undeniably try to trace your birthplace the moment you open your mouth. And it’s pretty shitty that there’s still this issue with the Irish. Whether it’s actors asked to change their accents when a British accent is acceptable in comparison (I’M LOOKING AT YOU WILLIAM), or when it’s the fucking church of England banning Irish inscriptions on gravestones in order to avoid arousing political “passions”, it’s a fucking shitty thing to do. And now that NI is suffering from rioting due to Brexit bullshit, and the UK government gives exactly 0 fucks, I’m becoming a bit sensitive over this.
So, in conclusion, please leave Katie alone. Her accent is wonderful. All accents are wonderful. It’s not her fault TV execs only recognizes Basic American, and Posh British as valid accents. It’s not her fault production budgets are tight and there’s no time for re-shoots. She should have been allowed to keep her own accent, because adapting to an American one didn’t offer anything to her character in the first place.

14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?
our movies are complete shit (except trainspotting which is a cinematic masterpiece) but our tv shows r fuckign hilarious i love them go watch still game
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
theres a lot.......admittedly our stereotypes are more annoying that harmful to how people see us but if i get one more person asking me if i have a kilt and bagpipes im gonna scream
idk about ones i agree with.....a lot of people see us as aggressive and i can agree BUT only partly...........like we’re aggressive when we fight for something we believe in, not in a physical bar fight kinda way if that makes sense???
18. do you speak with a dialect of your native language?
yea i speak lowland(?) scots (tho a lot of people dont class it as anything other than regional slang)
20. which sport is The Sport in your country?
football probably, our national team is terrible but we still like to give it a go n just have a laugh (but we take our games against england very seriously...........last time they had a game n we scored i deadass heard my entire street start cheering)
22. what makes you proud about your country? what makes you ashamed?
im a very proud person when it comes to my country......but we do like to play the victim too much, yknow??? like im proud that we stood against people who literally wanted to wipe us out and we fought for what we believed in in the past, and modern day we’re working towards making scotland a much more accepting and welcoming country.
BUT as much as we like to play the accepting and lovely scots that we want to be, we’re fucking dickheads like just 1 of many examples in our history look up the highland clearances that was literally scots vs scots and then modern day??? i cant speak for other areas but where i live its fucking full of racist pricks who still feel the need to get angry if they see something they dont like or dont accept
idk the scottish media likes to portray us as a sweet and beautiful country and sure some areas are absolutely lovely and are full of welcoming and accepting people, but they always seem to avoid showing the more poverty stricken areas where harmful attitudes are too common???? the lower class just gets brushed to the side in favour of showing all these trendy areas in edinburgh or glasgow or hell even the city center in dundee where i live its just annoying
24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?
we take the absolute piss out of america and england, then i feel like we have a mutual piss taking contest w ireland
26. does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal?
not really?? the few scottish actors in hollywood end up changing their accent to fit in w the movie (james mcavoy in xmen, karen gillan in the mcu are the first i think of) and then we always get shown as the drunk comic relief who usually dies early on
28. does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites?
do i even need to answer this scotlands like 99% mountains lakes and rivers
30. do you have people of different nationalities in your family?
not that i know of, i mean theres probably some irish relatives that we dont know about but thats probably it lmao
so can u tell i love being scottish

Oh! You live in Georgia? My brother does too, and my niece! I'm actually moving down there soon, when I gather the money of course! It's so beautiful down there, warm, unlike the cold, cold northeastern. x_x I absolutely loved Savannah when I visited!
Haha, wow, really? You’d be mighty close to me then! I livecloser to the outskirts of Atlanta, GA though, so it would be a 2 hour drive for you or me ifyou were in Savannah.;) A lovely of mine took pictures of herself in Savannah, GA,and she looked beautiful in that part of the world that looks like it’s stillgot that Colonial vibe.
Oh goodness, haha. Yeah, I’ve been from the south all mylife so I cannot do any cold weathers for too long—Born in South Carolina, wasadopted and moved to Georgia right after my adoption papers were filed, and I wasreleased from my birth mom (so I know nothing of my heritage). That’s why I sayI will laugh if I have Irish in me, because I am huge on Ireland oranything Irish. I do have people here asking where I am from—saying theythought I was German or something because of how I look, and my eyes do havewhite particles in them that light up when pictures of the insides are taken atthe eye doctor, and my doctor told me ‘that’s normal, but is found morecommonly in people with Native American, Irish, Scottish, or German heritagefor some reason’, so there’s some hint. =P
I do hope you get to move down here! Would be awesome!
