That's Right #lackadaisy #WHICH i have been reading since at least '07 when i was thirteen my god b/c this animation is based on the ongoing webcomic #like does its influence show up Directly in some Discrete way i can point to in my art? not very easily probably. And Yet.#the inspiration....i wasn't able to be Regularly Only for at least another year / art done Nonprofessionally Online was novel to me #like wow ppl can make & post fanart of w/e they love huh....didn't know webcomics were a thing & i never really read that many since but.#good god the quality of Lackadaisy at its onset is like this is superb?? this person putting in all their talent and effort???#and Then you get years & years more art and i don't even know what superlatives to throw out abt its quality as it evolves. obsessed w/it..#if i see a new lackadaisy comic page i Will be acting out. obviously this animation is a delight & also stunning. and fascinating to also #juxtapose as a Translation / Interpretation of the comic in a different medium & standalone snippet of Story #and that we're not even quite there in the comic timeline; Taking Notes abt character info we get distilledly here....genuinely love like #take it back to '07 i'm like oh boy can't wait for the dream team to assemble. then a decade later when it did? finally put my finger on what bothers me about the setup for jack and dean's relationship. it's that i personally don't find it exciting or interesting to parentify someone who's been parentified for 30 years already. i know people disagree with me here and that's fine! but i feel that adding another layer of parentification without any meaningful change to the first layer is just. insult to injury i guess.

dean finally gets to tell mary what he went through and he forgives her and it seems like maybe he's going to get to be his own person, finally, with that weight off his back, and then one episode later cas and mary are gone and jack is there and sam needs him too. and sam pushes dean to push down his grief and parent jack. and that's it. dean becomes jack's parent. in some ways he's still acting on how he was parentified for sam. and that could be explored in interesting ways i suppose. i just don't find the execution compelling. in fact it just makes me really sad.

#oh and if you say cycles to me i will eat you.#i'm not interested in that #if they had played this as a bad thing it would be one thing #but as is it's just like yay dean is jack's dad now isn't that great? aren't they just one big happy family? yay!#actually same with cas being jack's dad. frankly.#i mean yeah they explore the struggles of Having A Family but again that's something the show has always done. it's not new #and at no point is dean or cas allowed to back up and say hey wait a minute. maybe I don't want this #i just can't look at any of that as a good thing when cas and dean were so heavily influenced by others to take up the mantle #i think dean should have gotten to have a moment in s15 where he believes jack is chuck's pawn and freaks out #and the show actually resolves it #i don't have an issue with jack btw. or with anyone parenting jack. my issue is the choice (or lack thereof)#spn

ALSO I am learning how to teach very introverted students, something my natural skillset as a teacher does not help me with.

#one of my greatest tools in the toolkit of my teaching (imo) is that I am unpredictable #I will turn on a dime and I’ll share a thought from the depths of my soul or back of the pantry of my random opinions #that will make them laugh or hook them and they want to hear more #with a group of introverted students maybe they love to see it maybe they don’t but it doesn’t work for them to become engaged #they get so quiet and so still #and not in the good way that kind of happens but kind of just in the scared mouse kind of way #BUT. this past week I kind of had a breakthrough #I totally wasn’t planning on it but the moment was right so I talked to them about them being quiet and introverted (gently teasing them)!#and then I said ‘but do you like it when I just stand here and talk about the book’ and they were like ‘yeah! kind of the pressure is off’#and then I said ‘oh! that’s good to know. because when you’re quiet it makes me feel like you hate me’#(not realizing until I said it that that was the heart of the issue)#and they laughed in surprise (i didn’t say it in a way where I was putting that burden on them in a serious way)#and then I said ‘yeah last night I went home like ‘omg was that a stupid thing to say about Frank Churchill?? no one responded’#and then they kind of shriek-laughed at me and they were like noooooo #and then they said what if we gave you a thumbs up when you were done so you know we don’t hate you #and I said that would be great #and THEN a few days later I gave them an agenda for our discussion written out on the board #where I talked and they listened (I called it discussion with myself) and then they had questions to ponder and things to talk about #with each other. and a lot of time. and THEN I cold called them (they won’t volunteer)#but by that time they were so much more relaxed and they knew what we were doing #so they talked more! and it was so goooood #ALSO idk if it was them #or me who had changed but by the time I got to lecturing at them again #I could feel the quiet warmth that I could not before #(the absence of which is what makes speaking publicly instantly a torture to me l o l)#and it helped so much! like. they didn’t say much (some of them did the thumbs up)#but I had cleared the expectations for them and for me tbh and it helped. I was not waiting for a response from them so in fact I got more #of one. and best of all I could feel them feeling both the warmth and the power of Emma a little bit more #it is starting to click. anyway this is so much but y eah #I’ve been wrestling with this problem a l l year. cracking it in December lol

#kido tsubomi #seto kousuke #kano shuuya #kagerou project #kagepro #choco art #last thursday I was like “oh shit. I don't have anything ready for the fifteenth”#And then rushed to make these #there are a few things I'd like to change or adjust on some of them (like the colors on kido's) but aside from that I'm pretty happy #seto's was the hardest. first I kept trying to daw a bird for the silhouette window thing #but I kept erasing it because I wasn't happy with it #then I was flicking through my screenshots of his song's video and realized "wait. What if the tv him and little him are sitting on is the #ilhouette? Then I kept the birds but put them in a circular pattern in a way reminiscent of how the scissors and knives(?) were around him #in certain shots (btw. does anyone have ANY idea what the gossip he was getting from that bird in his introduction was?)#The background I wish I had done more with but I was drawing a blank on ideas so... the outside of Mary's house it is #kano's - in contrast - was the easiest.#I was like “his silhouette's a cat. the background will definitely be a reference to his song.”#Honestly the masks were the hardest part because it was a little difficult to get good pics of any other than the red-eyed mask #Also something looks off about him to me but I wasn't about to fight the picture so I didn't fiddle with it too much before inking #maybe his face just translates into my style weirdly #not much to say about Kido. Except I really wish I did the equalizer bars differently and will definitely be changing that if I ever get ar #und to making these digitally. Also #I'd alter the shades of colors I chose for the music staffs but that bugs me a lot less than those fri #cking equalizer bars #did I really just go on a whole ass rant about my decisions in these drawings?#I guess I did.
