5/10. Bad Wolf is a cool name! For cool ppl! It’s the season’s mystery! It slays! But The Parting of the Ways? That could be used for like, half of the finales in this show. That’s a generic name. Not a fan. It even has one more “the��� than it ought to. That’s a tryhard name. (Rose and The Doc don’t even part ways for another season! It’s a LIE!)

Army of Ghosts / Doomsday

6/10. Army of Ghosts! That’s freaky! It catches my attention! I’m interested, Mr. Davies, tell me more about that! Doomsday is also a generic name though. Like it could be used anywhere. It gets more points than S1 however because Doomsday is a very cool word and I like it a lot.

Utopia / The Sound of Drums / Last of the Time Lords

8/10. YES. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE TITLES. Utopia? That’s a word that can’t be applied to many other episodes! That’s a memorable word! That’s a fun word! The Sound of Drums? What the hell is so significant about drums?? In a FINALE episode?! There must be something SCANDALOUS about the drums, tell me everything! (And they did! But this isn’t about what happens in the episode this is just how hard the titles fuck.) Last of the Time Lords??? Holy shit! That means we’re delving into that aspect of him specifically, and you can’t duplicate that easily! But more importantly, that sounds cool! Cool names, absolutely W from whoever named RTD’s stuff.

The Stolen Earth / Journey’s End

5.5/10. Same boat as S1, tbh. The Stolen Earth? Excellent, no notes. Journey’s End sounds generic af though. But I gave it a half point lead because Journey’s End has the Vibes more than The Parting of the Ways, lol.

The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang

8/10. Yea I see the vision Mr. Moffat, I see you. Love what you’ve done with the place btw. Like, neither title is generic! And both are super interesting! Look honestly I forget how to do commentary I’m just one sleep deprived fan who likes Vibes they just slap OK

The Wedding of River Song

9/10. Oh. Oh yes. Oh I am LOVING this. Nothing gets me going like seeing a wedding that is somehow the culmination of a high stakes season. Like, how is there a wedding there?! And. River Song is there? Do you promise? 🥺

The Name of the Doctor / The Day of the Doctor / The Time of the Doctor

6/10. OK I’m honestly not sure which ones are finales or not, but y’know what? The name matching is fun. I like that. That is good. But besides the first one, these are p generic episode names. Sorry.

Dark Water / Death in Heaven

8/10. Dark Water is a p good episode name. It’s not the most interesting, but I like it. BUT ***DEATH IN HEAVEN***?! Now THAT is a finale title! I have never SEEN such a title! THAT is an IMMACULATE title! SPLENDID!

4/10. Kolos? What is this, Pokémon XY? Anyways, I feel like this is just dialogue that would be said in passing in a sci-fi novel that everyone forgets. Sorry 😞

Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children

7/10. Cybermen are OK. It’s a fine title, I have nothing against it. The Timeless Children??? The vibes are just SPLENDID here. Especially because it’s a Bad Wolf situation where it’s like “hey wait a fucking minute I’ve heard that somewhere else—” Good stuff! W for Chris.

Chapter Six: The Vanquishers

6.5/10. Adding chapter to the title does make it automatically cooler, so that’s a bonus half point right there. Otherwise, it’s neat. Like it’s good. The vibes are fine and I like them, but not THAT fine, y’know?

The Legend of Ruby Sunday / Empire of Death

7/10. Look, even if it’s not generic, anything with “death” in the title *feels* generic. The Legend of Ruby Sunday still saves this tho, because I am INTERESTED, girl. TELL ME EVERYTHING

My favorite generation is also Gen 5, and that is not just because it has Scraggy/Scrafty, but Pokémon Black and White hands down has the best story. I have played every single generation and no storyline in the series has ever given me the feels like Gen 5. Your opponents are also pretty difficult (Gym Leaders, Elite Four, the last boss fight vs the bad guy). Also the anime was really funny too, the Black and White anime took a more fun and lighthearted route, also super cute animation style. All the Pokémon have defined personalities, it's so funny XD

I play relatively seriously with putting thought into natures, movesets, stats (IVs/EVs, if you know what those are). I use Pokémon I like, but whenever a new generation comes out, I always go through the main story with only Pokémon introduced in that generation or at least Pokémon that I've never used in previous games, yeah, I'm looking at you Gen 6 (X and Y) and your only 72 new Pokémon >_>

A. “Blake’s mentor” is not a character. It is a description and not even a bare bones one.

B. What is the difference between an abusive ex and an incel exactly? They’re both used to describe despicable people in relation to romance.

C. That is not what incel. You’re using it as a generic insult and thus that last description may as well say ‘Adam bad’ for all the substance it has.

D. Adam always made stupid insults. People laughed at his voice in the Black Trailer and in Volume 3 for fuck’s sake.

And E. What WOULD you make Adam that wouldn’t just make him every generic freedom fighter?

“We’re gonna drop the abusive angel completely and go with Monty’s original plan-”

So the Black Trailer and the Volume 2 finale never happened...or you’re an incompetent idiot.

We also know who the WF lieutenant is AND we don’t waste an important character for a worthless fight that amounts to nothing as the train fights ultimately mean NOTHING.

Congrats, you made Adam worse because his first in series fight had him giving a good performance. Here, he can’t even kill Weiss (and in fact, as I am about to explain, he’d get CURB STOMPED by Weiss.)

Just as well, you’ll need to completely change his weakness. Adam is a glass cannon, he can dish out a lot of damage and move quickly but one good hit knocks him down. Makes sense since he’s not exactly big and buff and he can’t fight back when someone isn’t intimidated by him. It also makes him dangerous to Yang as she relies on taking hits at first which she can’t do with Adam because she often flings herself in ways that make dodging impossible. It also makes sense why Blake can fuck him over and why she can get fucked over: she’s also fragile but evasive which connects her with Adam too.

But say he fights, I dunno, someone who can zip around quickly in a manner that he can’t block the attacks and would logically get fucked over quickly by. Like say, a Semblance that zips you from spot to spot like WEISS’. 

Yeah, he’d lose in an instant against Weiss because he’s never seen to be able to block attacks moving that fast and he’d get fucked over quick. So you’d need to up his durability and suddenly he loses a logical weakness that is represented by his personality, connecting him to Blake, basically making him a Yang clone and now you need a NEW weakness. Suddenly a lot of Adam’s interesting elements SHATTER.

This is why Adam rewrites suck. None of you think through your writing. You make the same mistakes that Miles and Kerry made but with less experience, less insight and less care and then pile on EVEN MORE flaws.

Worst of all, the bullshit you give about ‘knowing his threat level’ ignores other factors like appearance, attitude and fighting style. Oh wait, I know why. If we include those, the WF Lieutennat suddenly becomes a clear threat. His appearance is distinctly different from the WF goons, with his tall and thick frame indicating he’s strong and durable while his choice of weapon shows he would have a strong but slow fighting style and his attitude shows that if Weiss loses she could very well die a PAINFUL death by a sadist chainsaw wielding terrorist. (’More tension’ my ass.)

You throw out so much just for ONE point that was accomplished in the original anyway. What the fuck else are you gonna muck up?

“Have adam be there to show Adam working with Torchwick-”

Which Blake would already assume since the WF is working with Torchwick and Adam LEADS the WF. But I guess Blake is too stupid to do basic math.

“Then have Adam let Blake run away-”

WHAT THE FUCK?!

Run to where?! They are in an enclosed space! Adam should be chasing after her! He has every reason to chase after her, both personal and professional!

“Then we can have dialogue that goes something like this in Volume 3: Adam: “I don’t want to have to fight you but I will if I have to. Blake: No no, Humans aren’t bad people! Adam: I have seen what they can do. Your family kept you safe. I wasn’t so lucky-”

Cool, so he’s every generic ‘sympathetic’ freedom fighter now.

Instead of being a deconstruction of the noble wounded freedom fighter, showing how such a person would be impossible for such a situation from the extremity of the harm done to him, the manipulation by his superiors for their own ends and his own faults, he’s just a generic pity bag now.

No wait, a SHITTY generic pity bag now because in the Black Trailer, he explictedly tried to blow up innocent people on a train. Blake even questioned him on it and he said ‘So?’. That isn’t the reaction of some noble but misguided person, that’s the reaction of someone so far off the deep end they’ve lost basic sympathy.

Trying to make him out to be noble here would be like trying to make me believe Raven is this secret loving mother or this protector: their actions in the past CONTRADICT this.

‘But Twiinks never said that-’

Her choice of words did. The words you choose your characters to say speaks about how we are suppose to view them. Adam’s word choice in the original communicates a dangerous sadism and madness built from pain and a lack of emotional maturity. This version communicates a sadness stemming from a supposed kindness that Adam SHOULDN’T have.

‘But it tells us what they’re stances on humans are-’

So did the original while also why we should route for Blake over Adam (i.e. she’s still sane and tries to be kind while Adam has lost it and is being cruel and vindictive.)

We literally lost something here.

“He truly feels like this is the only way to help Fanaus-”

So we're now working off the assumption he cares about the Fanaus and not just himself and his own pain, deconstructing how real life movements become corrupted from their original purpose by focusing on their own personal pain than a universal kindness.

Cool, so Adam isn’t Adam anymore.

“Adam still stabs Sienna but it’s about the orgnazation instead of a lame power grab-”

*rolls eyes*

I really hate these rewrites. Why do you even bother with Adam if you tear out the character and insert someone completely different? 

“Adam is remorseful, Sienna says something like ‘I would rather die than give you the organization’, and Adam apologizes. Perfect scene.”

A cheesy line that rings hollow and more OOC. Wonder-fucking-ful. I also looked ahead and saw that you are changing Adam’s character short to be about getting his scar. (More on that mess when we get to it.) So Adam being used by Sienna to push for her more violent agenda over Ghira’s peaceful one, something used by the show to show we shouldn’t be shitty to each other (AKA A core theme) still exists. Meaning that what should be Sienna paying for her sins by having the very person she used to push her agenda take it to its logical extreme, kill her in turn and destroy her work is just nonsensical pity begging.

I also assume Adam declaring his idea of Fanaus Supremacy and basically quoting Mein Kampf is still in the show since you never address that. Cool, so either I pity a woman who screwed this man’s life or I pity Furry Hitler. *slow claps*

“During the Volume 5 fight, his breaks and we see his scar-”

I’m not even surprised by how dumb this shit is. 

Adam’s scarf reveal in Volume 6 was wonderful and one of the best moments in the show. For so long, we saw Adam as someone who was destructive and hateful for no reason and right there, the audience is forced to see that while his actions are inexcusable, his reasons are very human and very real. He’s not a monster, he’s a person whose consumed by pain. At the very end of his life, Adam wasn’t a monster: he was a sorrowful reminder of what pain does to a person.

What does the scar reveal do here? ... Nothing. Seeing his face in full means nothing. Twiinks doesn’t even say anything about it. It’s just there because she wants a look of remorse and thinks that can’t be accomplished with the mask. Even though we could see him cry or have a look of sorrowful anguish. Adam can emote fine without his mask.

I just-I can’t believe this.

”The Adam short is now instead of a bunch of emotionless fight scenes now about how Adam got his scar-”

Just more pissing on what makes Adam good. Yeah yeah...

The Adam short is not just a bunch of emotionless fight scenes. The fight scene you show (of Adam protecting Ghira) shows so much. It shows the struggles of the peaceful White Fang, it shows Adam being shocked at killing a human as he hadn’t fallen yet, it shows Sienna using Adam to push her violence without concern for his well being and it shows how he got it into his head killing was fine.

That was ONE scene. ONE. Your scar replacement as a whole would have less impact (as we can tell how got it from context clues) than ONE scene.

Are you guys getting WHY I hate rewrites of RWBY so much?

If this doesn’t end with “and then he kills Oscar” I don’t care. Even this version of Adam would jump at killing a human and would have no idea Oscar knows Blake.

And it doesn’t. Great. BTW, Oscar wouldn’t know about the plan at this point so him showing up at the CCT tower isn’t explained and this scene is pointless.

“Adam would show up at the CCT tower, killing the CCT guards while ranting about equality and justice. Blake jumps in, leading him away to the waterfall. She says ‘Adam, you’ve gone too far! You’re just as bad as the people who hurt you!’“

Gee, that wasn’t clear when he tried BLOWING UP A TRAIN FULL OF INNOCENT PEOPLE?!

Also, Twiinks tries to push this idea that Blake wants to reconnect with Adam (which makes no sense as she LEFT Adam).

“Now we have the decapitation scene-”

We know she’s not gonna die, the fear came from the destruction of beacon and Yang being injuried. Of course Blake isn’t gonna die here.

“-moved to a thematically appreciate moment in the story-”

Considering you didn’t give two shits about thematic before, why the fuck would I care now?

“-Yang isn’t involved as to not muddy how if it was self defense.-”

So Yang’s arc is just scrapped and instead of having someone around who went through similar shit as Adam with a similar mindset and personality to dislay how wrong he is, we have a far shittier version that doesn’t even serve it’s purpose as protecting friends and family is covered by self defense and the people who bitched now would still bitch because Adam dying is the issue, not self defense.

“We see regret in Adam’s eyes-”

Means nothing because he was just a loon at this point out of nowhere and he’s still a terrible person. See, the thing is you can give a pitiable side to characters like Adam but you have to accept there is still good reason to hate him. Trying to hammer sympathy at us is just gonna make him less sympathetic.

“We shouldn’t be developing the budding relationship-”

It wasn’t.

That wasn’t a fucking romantic scene, it was an emotional breakdown after a stressful 

“By making Adam an understandable character-”

This is perhaps the most insulting part.

Adam IS understandable. Just because you don’t sympathize with him doesn’t mean you can’t see how he became this way. He was enslaved at a young age, branded in a way that robbed him of so much, he tried to make things better but because of forces outside of his control and his own issues, he lost his way and became what made him: someone cruel and uncaring of others. And yet, even as he does terrible things, we can still see that even he is a victim of the world, lamenting his fall and who he could have been.

That is something that fits the tone of RWBY so much better than a generic freedom fighter turned crazy person. Not to mention all the brilliant details you scrapped for shallow and boring details that any run of the mill show could do.

You improved NOTHING here. You just turned Adam from an interesting deconstruction and a cautionary tale of what we can become to every revolutionary in western media which, considering America’s origins, are a dime a dozen.

I’ll say it again: This is why I hate rewrites. You didn’t put nearly as much thought and effort into the show as the creators did and yet you stand on their work, rot it from the inside and try pedaling a worse version because it fits some people’s delusions.

When the HECK did you all get here??? I think just last summer I was happily floating about in the 50′s. Anyways, to anyone I have not said hello, hello! Hope you enjoy your stay, and I am sincerely sorry if you expected Quality Original Content, or even just regularly scheduled other people’s content. Sadly, neither of these things tend to happen here. 

Amount I sleep: During the school year it’s usually anywhere between 30 minutes and 6 hours (DON’T EVEN START BUBBLES YOU HAVE NO RIGHT), usually landing in the 3/4 hour ranges if I’m smart about it, but now that I am on Unofficial Break, it’s usually at least around 6 hours (except today was 3 because Avatar is an excellent show and the weirdos in this house have regularly scheduled breakfast at 9-something every morning). Sadly my sleep schedule can only be forced to tolerate normalcy for so long before careening back in the other direction, so we’ll see if this is just a blip or if we’re back to normal mid-Atlantic Ocean hours!

Lucky number(s): I wouldn’t say these are necessarily favorite numbers, but I do like 2 and 9. But come to think of it, second attempts at Official Things do tend to go better for me than first attempts, so maybe there’s some merit there after all! Dream Job: Don’t think I’m really cut out for dreaming anymore, haha (unless you are a theoretical future employer in which case I am Extremely Full of Ambition and Passion). The bed-adjacent metaphor has been made, and not to brag, but I can sleep on pretty much any surface. Currently studying my Not Favorite aspect of STEM (was there ever a favorite or did I just like being good at things sometimes) and learning how to People™ properly (and also learning a gazillion convoluted drug names like what the heck dude, did you just fall asleep on your typewriter coming up with these), so I’ll take whatever place hires me and pays me enough not to depend on my parents for everything, I suppose. In an ideal world, that would entail a job where I could make friends, and even more importantly, a job where my shortcomings would not cause Massive and Irreparable Harm, but I don’t think this line of work really meshes with that last one, so I guess I’ll either have to get my shit together™ extremely soon or fake my death, adopt an alias, and flee to a completely new place with no ties whatsoever before trying to get another, less high stakes job. 

(Though I guess, less cynically, I like helping people well enough? And stories are fun! Maybe there could’ve been something with that. Not that there still can’t be, mind, but there’s still a long way to go between Here and There)

Favourite Authors: Okay I have not read enough various books of enough various authors to be able to answer this, so I’m just gonna go with a few books instead. They are not necessarily all-time favorites, but I enjoyed reading them very much at the time and more often than not go back to them for comfort reads: The Martian, any of first three Harry Potter books, and The Rise of Kiyoshi. (That last one’s not really a comfort read but I am drowning in Loving Kiyoshi juice so here we are)

Pokemon rant

I don’t usually make long ass text posts like these on my blog but this is something I just have to talk about.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is not anywhere near up to standards, it really isn’t. Everyone and their mom knows that by now, and that majority of the arguments conjured up by those fans who will blindly defend Game Freak and the two games no matter what are bad and are being destroyed over and over again with actual, no meme intended, facts and logic. All of that has been established already.

However, I find it absolutely baffling how for the longest time, generations like 4 and 5 (especially 5!) have been trashed by Pokémon fans for various reasons. However, those two generations, for their time, and for the console they were running on, were infinitely better than SwSh?? How come generation 4 games like d/p/p get complaints about how the game is slow and how Lickylicky is an abomination and no one really seems to remember the game much when it really had one of the best, most engaging stories regarding the legendary pokemon (distortion world!), an awesome post game, great music, many good new pokemon, lore, locations, characters, level of challenge, I could go on? How come HG/SS are barely remembered even for the fact that all 493 Pokémon (plus out-of-battle forms! And shinies!) could follow you around aka had their own sprite work, and that at the same time you could still travel through an entire second region in post game? How come generation 5 gets dismissed because “ew Trubbish, omg Vanillite is literally just ice cream, wow what the fuck even is Stunfisk, Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem are so complicated ughh” when both B/W and B2/W2 had 649 pokemon sprites, front and back, animated. Yes, all of the in-battle pixel sprites in those games are animated, including forms and shinies. That, and the story is awesome, with some very beloved characters (N, anyone?). Oh and did I mention the large post-game?

I find myself so baffled that Pokémon SwSh has so many blind ass fans defending the blatantly cheap, rushed work that has been put into those games, meanwhile gen 5 (and also 4 sometimes) remains among the ‘lower tier’ pokemon games for some ungodly reason. Because not only are SwSh infinitely shittier than the main line games in gen4 and 5, they’re also not actually making proper use of the limitations of the console they are on, unlike the older games. BW/BW2 could run on the nintendo fucking DS. Being the last games on the DS, they really made sure back then to make as much use of the hardware limitations as they could. HG/SS were already pretty impressive with all those overworld sprites; BW/BW2 not only had all battle sprites animated, they were also tapping into the 3D department with the overworld!

And yet people say SwSh are perfectly fine and excusable despite the dex cuts, the promises that were never fulfilled that would have justified the dex cuts (aka we never got our remade models and polished/new animations), half-assed attempt at a story and open world elements, shit-tier optimization, lacking post-game, tons of forgettable characters that don’t even try to be interesting, barely animated cutscenes with an infernally large amount of dialogue, those n64 level textures, nonexistent draw distance, I could go on and on! I haven’t even seen anyone nagging on the designs of the new Pokémon! Come on, where’s the Trubbish of this generation? The Lickylicky? Applin is literally an apple and everyone loves that, so what’s so bad about Vanillite being an ice cream? Zacian, Zamazenta and Eternatus are definitely not the simplest designs in existence but somehow they get a pass when gen5 legendaries don’t? TL;DR - why does SwSh get all the blind praise and love and encouragement and all the valid criticism gets shut down and made fun of with trash arguments when gen4 and 5 games are right there, top tier quality for their time and hardware, yet no one even bothers to acknowledge that we really didn’t know just how good we had it back then?

Jelli’s problems with ORAS

Firstly, let’s get the obvious out of the way which is removing the Battle Frontier and just copypasting the extremely boring Battle Maison from X/Y, lacking in any sort of interesting challenges that gens 3 and 4 presented. 

GameFreak never patched it in either in spite of having the technology to do so now. Insult to injury is the fact that Anabel made it into Sun/Moon, which makes me theorize they planned designs for BF leaders but just didn’t put them in ORAS.

But that’s just one small thing, I mean, I could let it go if not for all of the other flaws ORAS presents (especially when put next to HG/SS or Emerald)

The Gym Leaders

When ORAS was announced, I figured “oh cool, the gym leaders might all get a buff by using mega evolutions”… and they did not. No, they all have their parties from the original Ruby and Sapphire, some of which, well, let’s face it, are pathetic compared to Emerald.

Wattson just has his Magnetson, no Manectric or Mega Manectric-- y’know, the signature Electric-type of Gen 3? Something that would have been cool and challenging?

Winona doesn’t have a Mega Altaria either, again, stuck with the mediocre party she had in the original R/S, no Tropius in sight. Giving her a Mega Altaria would have been a good challenge because people who come into the gym with electric types would have no idea how to deal with Dragon/Fairy.

And oh boy, how can we forget Tate and Liza? You would think ORAS would have changed something to make them a bit more challenging, but no. You just double battle their Solrock and Lunatone, probably wiping them before they get a chance.

Also, unlike in Emerald or HG/SS… you can’t even rematch the Gym leaders (except for Wallace in the Delta Episode). You just fight them once with their pathetically weak teams, then that’s it, no more from them ever again.

The Elite Four members got the better end of it mostly, but their initial teams are still weak. I also hate Steven’s rematch team. Why does he have Carbink and Aerodactyl? There are plenty of Steel-types, one of which is a fossil Pokémon! Carbink is weak to Steel anyway!

Wally’s party also made me sad. GameFreak didn’t like the idea of a boy trainer having a male Gardevoir I guess, so they forced a Gallade on him prior to getting National Dex or whatever. :\

Legendaries

While I already hated the roaming legendaries (seriously GameFreak, remove these), simply handing over Latios and Latias with their Mega Evolution and zero effort to obtain them was… pretty awful. It makes the entire game pathetically easy from there on out if you do speedrunning. I dunno about you, but I like getting my legendaries through a challenge.

Remember in gens 3, 4, and 5 when certain legendaries, when found, would give you a cool event? Well, ORAS just hands everything to you by flying around on Latios/Latias to certain areas, and you go to dimensional rips and rings created by Hoopa.

I have a feeling Hoopa was just made to create the excuse of randomly dropping Pokémon… I don’t know why they didn’t make a small, new area for each legendary available. FireRed/LeafGreen and Emerald did that for Lugia, Ho-Oh, Mew, and Deoxys. Simply recycling assets from the already existing mystery lands from soaring would have worked just fine.

Of course, this is a minor nitpick compared to actual issues I have. I’m glad that Pokémon like Zekrom are in the game at all, but I wish a little more effort was put in.

The Audio

I don’t like the soundtrack ORAS introduced compared to the original gen 3 games. The Champion theme against Steven, in particular, feels neutered of its GBA trumpets.

Honestly, I would be fine with it-- if they programmed in the GB Sounds, an item that was available in HG/SS! Gee, imagine that, an item that lets you play classic sounds if you prefer some of the original, classic soundtracks!

“Jelli they can’t program in old music!” Is what you’re going to say, and I’m going to prove you wrong, because somehow GameFreak managed to copypaste the themes of Lugia, Ho-Oh, Giratina, etc into ORAS… from their original DS sound fonts.

Wanna know what’s even funnier about this? In ORAS, Ho-Oh and Lugia have their themes from HG/SS, but the legendary beasts all have their Pokémon Crystal theme as opposed to the separate ones given in HG/SS. Sure, it’s nostalgic, but it clashes horribly given the others themes being from DS games.

I think if they cropped out all that legendary music (and simply made one song for all of them), they could have fit the GB (or rather GBA) Sounds into ORAS.

Definitely not, but if it was, here’s my last point.

The Delta Episode

I hated this, lol. I was fine with the remake up until this point. This was a poor excuse of post-game, it’s basically one big, handheld cutscene where you go from place to place and put up with the most annoying character in the world; Zinnia. (who is an even more obnoxious jerk in the manga if one can believe that)

Honestly, they should have cut this entirely and allowed the players to find Mega Rayquaza on their own so they could use the remaining data to put in the Battle Frontier, GB Sounds, and Gym leader rematches. I don’t play Pokémon to watch a short movie with poor story-telling, sorry.

I know it sounds like I’m being harsh for the sake of shitting on GameFreak but… that’s not true. I’m saying this because I absolutely love Gen 3! It’s my favorite Pokémon generation next to 5 and Hoenn is probably my favorite region. I still go back to Pokémon Emerald sometimes (I recently transferred my shinies to SoulSilver) and just embrace everything.

ORAS… I have not gone back to. It made me feel empty from how unfinished this was. This game didn’t have the love put into it like HG/SS or FR/LG did, and as someone who did want Hoenn remakes, that makes me extremely depressed.

It makes me worry for the people who want Sinnoh remakes, they’re going to be stuck with the Gym leaders having terrible parties like in the original Diamond/Pearl rather than Platinum, with no post-game content.

Sorry if this was a long read and if people don’t agree, again, I’m just super passionate about Gen 3.

I'm tired of Nintendo

I had enough for the last pokemon games and I'm so fucking angry that I bought a switch for this game that I might just not buy it. You know what ? Fuck you Nintendo. Having to pay for everything on a pokemon game is shitty and you're just looking for money. And you just won't admit it.

Before, we could transfer pokemons to a game of the next generation just by finishing the game. Easy. They kept that up until the 5th gen and after that, because ( I quote ) "tHerE Is NO PosSibLE WaY tO TranSFeR PokEmOns frOm Ds To tHe 3dS"

Okay, fine, whatever. So you have to pay to get your parteners through the new games x and y. But sorry, that excuse ISN'T VALID ANYMORE for the 7th gen. If the problem was to pass to the 3DS it's not the case anymore, so already fucked up on that point. But still, with wondertrade and GTS we had a way to get our favourite pokemons.

Now, we have so much bullshit that I can't even be more furious.

The console was super SUPER expensive compared to the other portable consoles from Nintendo ? Ok. I managed to work a hell lot to get enough money to finally buy it. No, not all the parents can afford something like that and especially not the children themselves BUT pokemon is a game mainly made for young people. That's already super dumb but I got through it. It was x1,5 the price of a 3DS when it came out, I mean COME ON.

The games are 20$, which is ALSO x1,5 the last generation's price. And it's a LOT. Pokemon let's go wasn't even that good already, seriously. It was made for pokemon go players, hadn't the same feeling for catching pokemons AT ALL ( you have to catch a lot rather than just catching your own team and that's all, and it's the same for shinies. I don't want to catch 30 vulpix ?! ) and it was more of a pokemon game to scam people who liked go. I refused that my dad bought it just because of that. Also, fuck all this gen 1 propaganda. GenOners are sometimes really annoying but Nintendo keeps encouraging them like hello ?? Other gen exists too ?? We have like a whole crowd of people waiting for a DP remake and that's the 2nd remake of this gen ! Not counting pokemon go that only featured the 1st gen when it was popular.

Pokemons from the 1st generation have a pretty easy to reproduce design and that's why they made pokemon let's go. Between Rayquaza and Mewtwo, guess who's the easiest to make ?

That's why I also HATE the idea of the galar dex. Cuz you know what ? Pokemon will be deleted. And I bet my fucking phone that there will be more gen one than any other gen because it's the favourite. And also, say goodbye to gen 5. The fandom clearly didn't like that gen and pokemons from it will suffer from the galar dex. It was great but since, you know, you couldn't use pokemons from other gens ( like in let's go btw ) people hated it and said everything from it was trash ?? Like oh no, a goofy ice cream with a funny face ! Pokemons weren't trash in my time when I had a purple jelly pokemon that evolved into a bigger purple jelly pokemon. They were creative. So yeah, some gens will suffer more than others

After that we have the lack of animations. I mean COME ON.

"Animation is hard". I make animations, mostly on 2D yes but I studied 3D models. Once you created it you can make animations pretty fast because you just have to move the body, not to redraw anything. That's why there are so many 3D models animations on YouTube made by beginners, once you mastered it you can do pretty much anything.

"It's good for strategy" Well ... Yes and No actually. I studied a bit strategy and the fact that they deleted some pokemons is a good thing for it but not for us, normal players. The fact that they removed animations from pokemon attacking is just ripping us off the battle, they had better animations in gen 4, come on. And the fact that the attacks must be fast for strategy is because official battles now last 20 minutes instead of one hour which is ... Stupid ?? They used this as an argument for a wall they created ???

"creating models is hard". Yes it is. BUT THEY'RE USING GEN 6-7 MODELS. Well, at least they had to redo them but it's just copying and pasting like wtf ??? The animations are the same. Models are just redone. It's basically like tracing someone's art. Yeah it takes time. But you still have a base, it takes a lot less time than the original one and when you're done I don't think you should show it as "extremely hard work". But you know what actually ? THEY DID OTHER MODELS FOR DYNAMAXED POKEMONS. Yes, they used that "precious time you know it's hard and blahblahblah" to have to do TWICE the exact same ponemons. I'm not talking about gigantamax huh, normal dynamax pokemon. So they're whining about the time but did everything twice. Wonderful.

"animating takes time" again you're talking to an artist and an animator. So before you try to give your "knowledge" because you read an article on BuzzFeed, go and try to do it yourself and then we can talk. I'm not saying that I know everything and that I'm a genius or anything but sometimes trying is easier to understand. Are we good ? Alright. I'm used to get hate comments all the time when I talk shit about this and most of the persons telling me wrong hadn't even tried to draw Pikachu before. Now, I just want to ask you, have you ever thought about the time needed for a pokemon game ? Yeah it takes a lot of time, about a few years. But think of it this way : we got the first trailer of the game 3-4 months ago ? Not sure anymore. But the game will be released the same year the first trailer went out and I'm pretty sure it was the same last year with Eevee and Pikachu. I'll take another exemple from the switch : Zelda botw. That game is a masterpiece. First trailer, 2011. Release date, 2017. Do you know what I mean by that ? TAKE YOUR FUCKING TIME. Stop rushing like idiots we won't die if we don't have a pokemon game per year !!

One last thing : the online subscription. You know that you pay WiFi every month ? Now you gotta pay it again for it to work. I get it, maybe people won't use it and all but COME ON. You deleted the 4th and 5th gen GTS. You deleted the dream world. And you're afraid that your online thingy will be not used enough to make money so you make us pay even more ?? Duck you.

Pokémon is the 2nd most money-making licence that ever existed. They stopped making series because they wasn't worth it in terms of money, like pokemon rangers. You're just some lazy People that wants money more and more. And I don't think I can accept that.

This bastard gets a 5 star rating on everything and honestly I don’t know what the fuck you expected LMFAOOOOOO but while I’m here, let me explain.

RAW POWER: ★★★★★

Ana.kin is a Herald. A Herald on his final incarnation before he goes full god at that. Heralds get stronger with each incarnation, and given Anakin has maxed out his reincarnations, he’s sitting at peak strength for what he is. And honestly? The most terrifying thing is, he can actually get a whole of a lot stronger. Right now he’s only really channeling one half of Equilipax, Shokahn--the dark half. Once he gets his shit together and channels Ashla more, he’ll have two sources of power to draw on--and you’ll be doubly fucked.

Granted, his Pokémon aren’t nearly as strong as he is. Team-wise, he’s actually on the weaker end of the Uniman League scale--but his Gym is still one of the hardest ones in the League because it allows his ‘mons to use the one skill he’s trained them expertly in: flying. But let me tell you. This asshole is more than strong enough to make up for it and coupled with the fact that you’ll inevitably be out-flown in his Gym, it’s no wonder most people save his run for last.

FORMAL TRAINING: ★★★★★

Not only does he remember all of his Dai Bendu training from his past life as Weida (and all his fight training from his previous lives in general), Ani received training in this life as well. Plus, as a Herald who’s inherently connected to the divine, he’s got some pretty powerful dragon deities helping him out (lore still pending on that, I am so sorry). 

COMBAT EXPERIENCE: ★★★★★

He fought in the Disparan Civil War before his time, much like Tobias did. While the Dai Bendi attempted to restrain him from joining the fight, he managed to slip out of their clutches and enlist in the battle anyway. Of course, this ended horribly for him, but you know what they say: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!

WILLINGNESS TO KILL: ★★★★★

Of my Uniman League muses, Ana.kin is by far the most trigger-happy. As someone who’s basically a god, he’s capable of cursing people without the magical backlash, and he uses this ability to its fullest extent. He’s cursed people to death many a time, and he’ll do it again if it serves a greater purpose in the world…

But sometimes, it’s his non-death curses that are the worst. One time, there was this child predator who almost got his adopted daughter Ah.soka over the Internet. Ana.kin cursed him to become a quadriplegic in a horrible accident, forcing him to live forever with his abusive family. Did he earn a massive scolding from Pad.mé for that? Oh, absolutely. But if he could do it all over again, he would do the exact same thing.

i’d like to see her come to terms with her past, whatever that might mean. it might mean facing one pressure point from her life and reconciling, or it could be her accepting what happened and healing as best as she can. she needs to learn she can’t save everyone, and it’s not her fault if people die. to quote the founding fathers musical, “you have no control who lives, who dies, who tells your story”

tyshvan’s ALWAYS wanted to be an adventurer, so she’s pretty much in her ideal career path right now. she really wants a dog though, like,, a permanent dog, but she’s a dwarf and dogs dont generally live for 400 years

TENJAMIN C, but honestly she loves her entire party and would consider them all friends. tenny’s her Bro, so thats why he’s being singled out here

she’s usually VERY direct with what she wants, like, she’ll gauge interest with conversation, then either go for the direct flirt/pickup line or otherwise confess to her feelings. like, the crush i mentioned before? is weird for her bc she’s used to just admitting shit almost immediatelyin a long term relationship, though, she’d be very obvious so there wasn’t any doubt. the last thing she wants is for a lover to doubt her intentions/interest

she’d enjoy playing a minor character i’d say, but she’d probably get roped into being first aid

she means... a lot, tbh. like. she didn’t at first, but over time i grew to love her so much. she’s my first dnd character, and i use her to be the best person i can be. like, i can be incredibly selfish at times, but tyshvan wouldn’t dream of being selfish, so it’s kinda nice being Good for a change, and always caring for other people, and always trying to help even when its inconvenient or dangerous. she stands up for what she believes in, too, even to those she loves/loved. i admire that so much about her.

i had no idea how much i cared about her until she sacrificed herself in a battle royale type situation where she had to fight her own party to the death (it was in a dream, so everyone lived). either way, i cried when i wasn’t sure if she would come back to life, and that’s the point when i realised i cared so much about her

ur rly gonna do this 2m e?

all alone just started playng this is terrible lets get it

so day6. a band i only found out about in late june (thank u boxy) and before this i only ever listened to bts and mx bc my friends stan them so i thought i was gonna expect boys dancing, the usual. 

i clicked i smile and i lost my fucking shit as soon as i saw the instruments because prior to day6 i was a big 5sos fan so this was rly resonating to me tbh and i was just !!! so fukcng excited??? i never intended to even get into day6 honestly??? but after witnessing how good they are and watching about all of the available mvs at that point i was completely in awe so i caved a created a stan twitter for them.

now, this isnt even the most of it. after becoming a fan i realized how much more these 5 boys are. they compose (if im not wrong) and brian writes lyrics for the songs each month because of their everyday6 project and again, im wow-ed because??? the amount of dedication???? they went from releasing 2 title tracks in 2 years to releasing 12 title tracks and 12 bside tracks in a single year. they havent released the december song yet but haviing to work on 2 or more songs in 4 weeks is fucking amazing if you ask me. 

theyre really talented and theyre just so versatile (am i using that word correctly) and each month their songs sound different. this project has given them the opportunity to try new things and you can hear the steady improvement in each of their vocals (dowoonie not so much since he barely gets lines, but we all know hes working hard) and if you listen to their debut song - kongchu and compare it to the version they released along with sunrise it just???? the drumming has even changed from the original version nd its so noticeable that whenever i hear kongchu from 2015 i know its the old ver

to add to those, they do vlives every week and although those vlives are always scheduled it still makes my day seeing them and watching them do the usual. 

one thing im upset about is that how they barely promote themselves, they rarely get on variety shows (the most is individual schedules) and we, as mydays never really get to know the boys so its harder to fall for them as a whole. i dont know if its jyp or day6′s decision but if this is how they want to be known for - their music only, then so be it. we still have jae’s presence on youtube, music access and asc. thats the most we can get and it makes it difficult for us to learn about the rest but thats okay.

another thing. their concerts are something i always look forward to (even though my interest has died down a bit;) their concerts are just so fun to listen to?? there’ll always be mydays who stream the concert so everyone else can listen to them play and they sound so good live it drives me crazy. mydays are always so hyped and whenever mydays sing along it just gives me goosebumps??? bc theyre so???? good????? 

tldr; day6 deserve more, following wise and promotions wise because they work so hard and once this project ends i hope they’ll manage to rest but still remain as a presence that will be known instead of returning to jyp’s dungeon.

Pokémon Go: Gyms Reworked!

The Pokémon gym rework is finally out!

Oh wow! They didn’t really take that long with it, did they?

Nope, and I’m glad that they didn’t because as soon as I found out that it had been released, you bet your ass I was down at the park to try this shit out.

There are ups and downs with it, like any change to the game, but for the most part, I like what I’m seeing.

Do explain.

First of all, getting into an allied gym is a MILLION times easier! No more training or battling to wedge your Pokémon onto the roster. If the gym is your team’s color, pick a Pokémon and load ‘em on!

Any Pokémon?

Pretty much. There is one limitation: only one of a particular species of Pokémon on a gym at any given time. That means you won’t see 3 Blisseys or 5 Vaporeons on the same gym at the same time. You can have, say, a Chansey and a Blissey, but not two Chanseys or two Blisseys.

That’s great news! No more ‘tank walls’ to scrape your way through while battling a gym!

Well, there CAN be a Blissey and a Snorlax on the same gym at the same time…..

True, but let’s hope that that’s the worst of it.

The next thing that is important to note is that getting the opposing team OFF of a gym just got a whole lot harder.

The news can’t ALL be good, can it?

Nope. Because it’s so easy to drop Pokémon on a gym owned by your team, it makes things so much harder for an opposing team to take it over. A member of Team Valor could be whittling down a Team Instinct gym, and just when s/he thinks the gym is about to be theirs….. Oh no! There’s two more new Pokémon on there now! Damn it!

That fucking sucks!

To be fair, if one aspect of the gyms is going to be much easier, it stands to reason that another part of it is going to get much harder. But there’s another thing that strengthen a gym as well: Berries.

Berries?

Yup. See, every Pokémon on a gym has a “Motivation Meter” in the shape of a little heart. When a Pokémon gets beaten in battle, it loses some motivation. When it loses all of its motivation, it returns to the trainer. Before this happens is where the berries come in.

When you visit an allied gym, if you see that the Pokémon on the gym have lost some motivation, you can give them berries to restore some of it. For lack of better terminology, it’s like training at a gym in order to boost its prestige in the old gym system.

That’s definitely an interesting feature. What else is there?

Gyms now have pokéstops built in!

For real?

For real! Now you don’t have to wander far from the gym to restock on items! It also increases the number of places where you can resupply on items, so if you’re in dire need of stuff, it’s not so far between stops to get them.

The next thing I’d like to mention concerns the earning of pokécoins for the store.

They changed that too?

Yup. Rather than collecting once a day, you automatically get pokécoins for approximately every hour that a pokémon stays on a gym. It seems like a slower process, but honestly, it’s one less thing to worry about because you don’t have to log in to the game to collect them.

That’s actually better, in my opinion, because it means that you can earn pokécoins at any point throughout the day, not just a splotch once per day.

Oh! That reminds me of something I forgot to talk about when I mentioned the berries!

What is it?

When you give berries to Pokémon on a gym, you get Stardust!

You mean you can get stardust from something besides catching and hatching eggs?

Yup! It’s not very much, to be fair, but if you’re REALLY generous with your berries, then you can get 20 stardust for every berry that you give to your allies.

LOVE IT! TELL ME MORE!

Well, like any game or modification to it, there are going to be some problems…

Such as?

Do you remember when gym sniping was a thing?

Ugh! That was fucking awful! You piss through your time and resources to get the enemy team off of a gym, only for them to be back on it less than 2 seconds later! But they did away with that when they realized that it was a real problem, didn’t they?

They did, but since the rework, the problem has unfortunately returned. I worked at an enemy gym for a while, and while I was counting on the one-minute exclusivity period to get my Pokémon on the gym, someone sniped their little fucker in there.

Ok, THAT shit has got to go! They have to fix that issue because that shit is wrong as fuck!

You’re preaching to the choir. Hopefully there will be enough complaints to Niantic that they will fix that quickly.

There are also some hangups when navigating through the gym. Going in and out of a gym sometimes causes the gym controls to be stuck on the map screen. Additionally, moving from the main screen of the gym (the part that shows the Pokémon on it) to the pokéstop part of it causes similar problems. There are similar quirks when moving from the main screen to the berry-giving screen.

Despite all the good stuff, Niantic still has some work to do, don’t they?

It’s a work in progress, but at least the majority of it is working and working well. I cannot complain too much since, for the most part, the rework is a massive improvement. I look forward to more good stuff like this in the future.

Do you think that people will be playing this at ConnectiCon like they were when the game was released last year?

I don’t know if it’s going to be AS crazy as it was last year, but I have no doubt in my mind that there ARE going to be people playing it.
