You were feeling melodic. You sang more moodier songs this evening. It had been a year since you and Roman had become an item. He had not even seemed to notice.

You finished your last song, going over to tbe bar, you got a drink. A real drink. The only one you saw clap was Victor and some of the staff.

Scanning the club while you sang and had not spotted Roman anywhere. He had left that morning and he said he’d be back in the afternoon. There was almost an hour left in day and he was no where.

“Hi Songbird.” Victor came over and leaned against the bar.

“Hi Victor.” You sighed.

You were too hurt to correct him. To be honest, you needed the kind voice. You were beyond hurt to care. By now you should know better, Roman, had never really hinted at that he was a romantic type.

Well there was the few times he tried to get you gifts you said would make you happy but that only lasted a short while.

“What’s the matter?” You looked at Victor, why the hell would he care.

“Nothing.”

“Songbird, don’t get into the habit of lying to me.....or Roman.”

“How did you know?”

He shrugged. “Something I picked up interrogating and freeing assholes.” He gave a short dark laugh.

“I’m kind of sad, it’s our anniversary and I haven’t seen him all day.”

“Ahh, well you know Roman...he gets easily distracted.” He pushed aside his sleeve, he looked at his watch. “You might as well go upstairs and call it a night. That Scarecrow guy really drags out his meetings with Roman.”

You held up and finger, Joseph brought you another drink.

You rolled your eyes, “That sounds like the perfect way to end a rather shitty Sunday.” You practically inhaled the drink.

Sliding from the stool, you took off your heals. “Victor, if he comes home in the next hour and if he at all cares, I will be in the hot tub.”

When the elevator opened it was pitch black but then your eyes adjusted and you saw muted candle light...”huh...” you took a step out and felt something under your feet...you glanced down and rose petals and a small piece of paper.

My beautiful song bird, take wing and follow the rose petals. There will be another note.

Your sadness was immediately vanished. You put your heals down and did as the note said.

“Roman.” You called out but he didn’t answer.

You followed the trail till you reached the large table. You looked around the chair closest to you and saw a small note on it. As you grabbed it you saw roses and candles. It stole your breath. “Roman?” You called out again. Still nothing. You opened and read the note.

Good girl, there is a blindfold on the chair, use it to cover your eyes, then sit down and wait.

You tied it and waited. A pair of warm hands wrapped around your throat and squeezed. “Happy Anniversary, kitten.” He purred in your ear almost immediately arousing you. You turned in the direction of his voice.

“Roman,” you breathed.

“Yes, kitten.” He squeezed again throat again.

“Can I have a kiss?”

“Yes, if you remain being a good girl.” You felt as if everything was terribly more sensitive.

His hands slipped under the front of your dress. He made a soft sound as he cupped your breasts his thumbs caressing you. You squirmed a little.

“So soft and warm.” He breathed. “Lift the skirt of your dress.”

You felt so open, your heart had picked up speed. Then you felt as one of his hands went back to your throat.

“Such a good girl.” He tilted your head up and he kissed you then. You could not hold back the moan. Kissing him and not seeing him, added a whole new level of sensation.

He broke off the kiss. “I have something for you, keep your lips parted.”

“Yes?”

You felt as he gently grazed a something against your lips. “Take a bit.”

You moaned, it was a strawberry covered with your favorite chocolate. It was so rich, just the right amount of flavor.

“Would you like more?”

“Yes, please.”

“That’s my good girl.” He offered you more and more. When you finished that one, he offered you a few more.

He grabbed your chin again and kissed you. He sighed as be did this time as well.

“Alright. Stand up.” You did as he said. He with a sigh, he picked you up. He put you over one of his shoulders. “Roman!” You cried out.

He only chuckled. “Don’t wiggle.”

“I won’t.” You realized when your feet touched the tiles you were in the bathroom.

“Take off everything except the blondfold, I want that to stay in place.”

You did as you were told. Trembled as you stood there naked. You sighed as you felt him half envelop you with his body.

You as he turned you to him, then he lifted the ribbon. “Hi baby.”

“Roman!” You practically leapt at him. He chuckled and held you to him.

With music that only he could hear, holding you close he swayed, dancing over to the bath tub. He stepped in first then he offered you his hands and you came in after him. You settled easily beside him.

“So how was your day?”

“Not so good. I thought you had forgotten.”

“I’m sorry about that.” He kissed the top of your head. “I would have sent you with Victor to shop to your way through the day despite him hating to shop, but I didn’t want us to run into each other and have everything spoiled.” Wrapping an arm around you, he caressed your arm. “Despite being sad, thank you for still goong down and preforming, my little bird.”

You pulled back from him and looked at him. “Really? So wanted to do this all day?”

He nodded. “That’s why Victor would occasionally pop up and check on you.” It dawned on you, you had wondered why he wasn’t with Roman.

“Ooo” you covered your mouth when the events or lack there of unfolded since you just lounged about. You grimaced. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright.” He brought your head up. “What can I say baby, you’ve been a bad influence on me. Making me romantic.” He chuckled.

You wrapped your around him, easily straddling him. “Roman Sionis, you have made me the happiest girl in Gotham.” You nestled close to him, can we go somewhere more comfortable. You kissed his jaw, and planted some kisses on his throat. Places you knew how much he liked.

“Yes, I will bring you to the last stop on our anniversary.”

After toweling off, he brought you to the huge fireplace in it roared a huge fire. A safe distance from it was several pillows and blankets. There was some very decadent looking bottles and items to nibble on.

You gasped and let him bring you over. “Lay down Roman.”

He did so propping himself up on his elbows. You easily straddled him again. “Next time just send me away.” You whispered then kissed him.

You made a small sound as you found yourself under him. “You had made me wait all day.” He brought a hand up to your throat. “I had wanted to wring your beautiful little neck.”

“Do it.” You encouraged him. You loved it when he owned you.

He didn’t need any more encouragement. He squeezed. You instantly grew wet. “You were such a silly little girl, moping around all day. I remember everything.” He squeezed again. He kissed you loosening his grip but then squeezing again.

Letting you breath again, he let his hand drift down your body. “Oh, look at you. You like it when I punish you?” He smirked,

“I do.”

“I’ll give you a punishment from me you won’t soon forget. Now, go and on all fours for me.”

My Top 5 Korean-Drama Recommendations:

Disclaimer: I am NOT A FAN of romantic comedies, so most of my kdrama recommendations are all under the genre of crime, mystery and thriller.

5. Class of Lies (2019)

Network: OCN

Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller

Episodes: 16

Ki Moo-Hyeok (Yoon Kyun Sang) is a lawyer with a high winning rate. He only cares about money. Due to a murder case at a high school which he deals with, his reputation as a lawyer hits rock bottom. In order to regain his good name as a lawyer, he sneaks into the high school and begins to work as a temporary teacher. He tries to reveal a secret which the students have. In so doing, Ki Moo-Hyeok gets involved with Teacher Ha So-Hyun (Keum Sae Rok). She is P.E. teacher who loves her students. Ki Moo-Hyeok and Ha So-Hyun then face the students' secret.

Thoughts/Conclusion:

As I am writing this, this is the latest kdrama I have watched. This was recommended by my friend and I remembered myself including this in my list of kdramas ‘to watch’ way before, but hasn’t been able to, yet. Hahaha!

In all of the dramas I’ve watched (with the same plot as this one), this one stands out the most because of its ending ㅡ open-ended. Yes, there were still some unanswered questions, but that is what made this drama intriguing. I love how realistic the approach of the drama is in interpreting the story. That not everything gets resolved, and in this drama too, the ending with Yu Beom Jin left us with many unanswered questions.

4. D-Day (2015)

Network: JTBC

Genre: Medical Drama, Disaster, Romance

Episodes: 20

Plot (by Wikipedia):

Lee Hae-sung is a surgeon who is transferred from one of the best hospitals in Seoul to a rundown hospital with no ER. After disobeying his previous hospital director, Park Geon, he then meets Jung Ddol-mi, an orthopedic resident from Busan who came to Seoul to transfer a patient. Ddol-mi tries to meet professor Han Woo-jin, a cold robotics surgeon who works in Hae-sung's old hospital who saved her life when she was younger before going back to Busan. However, she is stuck in Seoul after trying to save a patient. Meanwhile, a sinkhole appears in Seoul followed by a big earthquake that blocks all access to the city, causing phones, electricity, and water to not function. Hae-sung teams up with Ddol-mi to treat people, but soon medicine starts to run out.

Thoughts/Conclusion:

If I will recall, I think this is the first medical kdrama I have watched? I watched this because of Lee Sungyeol of INFINITE is casted in this drama and also because of the plot. But as I go on, I found myself so absorbed in the series.

What I liked about this series aside from the plot are the actors and actresses. They all did well in portraying each character, but I have to say, Kim Young Kwang really stands out for me. He has put a lot of effort in expressing his emotions into his character and it felt so real.

3. Tunnel (2017)

Network: OCN

Genre: Police Procedural, Crime, Thriller

Episodes: 16

In 1986, Detective Park Gwang-Ho (Choi Jin Hyuk) desperately tries to catch a serial killer. He chases after the serial killer and goes through a tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel, Detective Park Gwang-Ho finds himself in the year 2017. The serial killer has resumed the killings that began 30 years ago. Detective Park Gwang-Ho works with Detective Kim Sun-Jae (Yoon Hyun Min) and Professor of Criminal Psychology Shin Jae-Yi (Lee Yoo Young) to catch the killer.

Thoughts/Conclusion:

I was actually torn between Tunnel and Signal, but I decided to include Tunnel in my Top 5 kdrama recommendations because it tackles criminal psychology as well as criminal profiling and I have been very interested in those things lately. What makes this series intriguing is that, it shows how psychopaths and sociopaths are developing in the society.

2. Remember: War of the Son (2015)

Network: SBS

Genre: Legal Drama, Crime, Thriller, Mystery

Episodes: 20

Plot (by Wikipedia):

Seo Jin-woo has a special condition called hyperthymesia which allows him to remember almost every day in perfect detail. While his father, Seo Jae-hyuk on the other hand, developed an Alzheimer's disease, making him lose his memories. When Seo Jae-hyuk was wrongfully convicted of murder, Jin-woo vows to prove innocence of his father. Four years later, Jin-woo becomes a lawyer to put the real criminal behind bars but bribery, corruption, and betrayals would not give him an easy road to justice.

Thoughts/Conclusion:

This series has been my top 1 kdrama ever since I have watched it, but Chicago Typewriter happened (well, I’ll be talking about this later). I came across a clip from the first episode of the series in Facebook. It was the scene on Jinwoo and Inha on the bus while identifying the culprit who stole something from Inha. I was intrigued about it and how Jinwoo has sharp memory and remembers everything.

What I love about this drama is the refreshing new plot and the characters, oh, let’s not forget how good Nam Goong Min portrayed his character as Nam Gyu Man. He really showed excellent acting skills to the point that even the viewers will hate him SO MUCH. Hahaha.

1. Chicago Typewriter (2017)

Network: TVN

Genre: Historical, Fantasy, Comedy, Romance

Episodes: 16

The series depicts three resistance fighters who lived during the 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea, and are reincarnated into the present as a best-selling writer in a slump, a fan, and a ghostwriter.

It is an epic story of comradeship, friendship, love and betrayal that lasts 80 years. As the trio of writer, ghostwriter and fan race against time to find the truth of the past that haunts them, will their discovery affect their present?

Thoughts/Conclusion:

This is actually one of the recent kdramas I’ve watched during this enhanced community quarantine and I just have to say that this is actually one of my regrets in life (ok this is exaggerated lol but anyways). I regret not being able to watch this during the release which was last 2017. But it was actually on my ‘to watch’ list at that time. I’ve seen the plot and it made me curious, so I waited for it to finish before actually starting it, but I wasn’t really able to watch it because I got busy with school.

THIS. IS. SO. SO. SO. SO. GOOD.

As I’ve said above, Remember: War of the Son used to be my top 1 kdrama of all time, but after watching Chicago Typewriter, I changed my mind. Okay hear me out, I’ve seen A LOT of kdramas with new and interesting plot, but they haven’t topped Remember yet, but Chicago Typewriter just did, and I really mean it.

For the story, there were times where I felt that the story-line was moving slow. I mean, I wasn’t expecting it to be fast-paced but there were really scenes that I think have been dragged too long and not that important. But aside that, everything was SO GOOD. YES. IT WAS SO GOOD.

I love how series unfold the genuine friendship between the three main characters during the 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea – Seo Hwiyoung, Ryu Soohyun and Shin Yul. The storytelling throughout the drama is also good, even though they were constantly shifting timelines between 1930s and the present.

The OSTs in the series were also GOOD. I tried listening to it after I watched the drama and I swear, listening to Satellite by SALTNPAPER and Writing Our Stories by SG Wannabe brings back all those emotions you’ve felt while watching it.

Chief Kim

Wow. This is so bizarre. I haven’t done one of these things in like FOREVER BUT at last, here I am.

Rating: 5/5

Sad to say, but I finished my last episode of Chief Kim yesterday. CRY WITH ME GIRLS AND BOYS AND OTHERS. I absolutely loved this drama. Honestly. I haven’t given a perfect rating in SUCH a long time and also, I haven’t watched such a good korean drama in a long time too so it’s like I was blessed this time. I watched this drama strictly because of Nam Goong Min and I ended up liking Lee Jun Ho SOOOO SOO MUCH in the drama AHHHH. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Nam Goong Min, but Lee Jun Ho legit stole my heart. I felt like in a sense he was like the star of the show for me. I CANNOT wait until he acts again (and hopefully maybe a lead role as a villain ? HAHAHA)

Characters:

Nam Goong Min as Chief Kim was pretty fucking hilarious. To be honest, Chief Kim kind of reminded of Ahn Dan Tae, BUT Chief Kim was like 50 times weirder here LOL. His antics got me laughing so much. However I did end up finding it a little annoying near like episode 12 ish? I felt like some of his expressions were kind of unnecessary and overly dramatic. Sometimes he just came off as that annoying ass and childish kid. Now for Lee Jun Ho as Seo Yul. LOVE LOVE LOVE !! Seo Yul is the most adorable character ever. My heart cannot take this child. And I loved his eating scenes. I have nothing to really complain about his character. I seriously loved him to the smithereens. Oh and I definitely ship him with Chief Kim. These two and their little bickers here and there are just too much for me to handle. For the other characters in the drama, they were fine. I didn’t really like Nam Sang Mi too much cause I felt like her acting was a little meh. But it’s okay. I really loved Dong Ha (Park Myeong Seok), Lim Hwa Young (Oh Gwang Sook), and Hwa Young Hee (Eom Geum Sim [Cleaning Lady[). They are the kind of characters who add a little bit of spice to the drama. Funny, weird, awesome, y’all name it.

Final Thoughts:

I really do recommend this drama. Seriously. I haven’t enjoyed a drama this much in a really long time. So far, it’s my top drama in 2017. Story line is kind of like the typical, but it is good nonetheless. If you guys love bromance, OH THEN YOU’RE IN FOR A TREAT BECAUSE SEO YUL AND CHIEF KIM ARE JUST THE ULTIMATE BROMANCE OF KDRAMAS. I kind of wished they had more moments together (as if they didn’t have enough already LOL). I would prefer their bromance over the actual romance thing ANY DAY. I really liked how the writers chose not to have a romance thing between Chief Kim and Ha Gyeong (and have Seo Yul be that annoying guy who likes Ha Gyeong too and they end fighting for her like enough of that bullshit). I am damn happy with just the bromance stuff. Other than that, I want to mention one last thing. I loved how this drama gave characters, who were not necessarily the most pure and good, a chance to redeem themselves. A chance to make themselves a decent and better human being. We’ve obviously seen that with Chief Kim and Seo Yul. They were pretty bad people to start with and we see how they were given chances to change their ways. I think this could be a good example for other people out there in the real world, you know? Sometimes bad people are given chances to change and be good. Whether they choose to or not is another thing, but I feel like this notion is important for everybody to recognize. (I hope you understand what I’m saying because I’m absolute shit for explaining stuff LOL)

BUT YEAH. Now it is time for me to sob as I attempt to find another good drama to fill this void inside of me.

**sidenote: i kinda wished they went more into what exactly made seo yul the way he was in the beginning ... was it because he was bullied, was it because he was BORN THIS WAY ~ and so on. also how exactly did he meet chief park (or whatever that white haired dudes name is)

Ooooh boy, we are gonna be here all day so I am just going to do Korea and save the rest for later. I had to really cull!

A Love to Kill (2005) - I own Japanese DVDs of this, I was so obsessed. A dark, intense melo in which Rain gets a job as a bodyguard to a rising young star played by Shin Minah. His plan is to seduce and wreck her to avenge his dead brother (who he believes killed himself after she heartlessly left him for fame), but he recons without his own impossible feelings for her or the extent of SMA’s internal damage. They remain one of the most impossible, messed-up, intense, doomed OTPs I’ve ever shipped. Stock tissues.

Beautiful Days (2001-2002) - a super classic, grown up melo about a plucky poor girl and a tortured workaholic and Choi Ji Woo and Lee Byung Hun set the screen on fire.

Capital Scandal (2007) - somehow both frothy and deeply emotional, this centers on freedom fighters and playboys and spies in 1930s Seoul. If you don’t love it, you have no heart.

Chuno/Slave Hunters (2009) - possibly my favorite sageuk (it’s a threeway tie atm), this story about an aristocrat turned slave hunter, a general turned slave, and a slave woman turned an aristocrat, all involved with rebellion, court secrets and sheer desperation of their lives is amazing. Beyond amazing. Jang Hyuk, Oh Ji Ho and Lee Da Hae are all on fire and if you ever watch only one sageuk, make it this one.

City Hall (2009) - Kim Sun Ah as a small town civil servant and Cha Seung Won as an amoral fixer for a powerful politician sparkle beyond words in the most grown up, smart kdrama romcom I have ever seen.

Damo (2003) - my first sageuk, this is as good as ever. Ha Ji Won is a police tea servant, a noble lady whose family was executed and she came down in the world; Lee Seo Jin as her noble superior who loves her silently. She infiltrates a conspiracy led by the charismatic, tortured Kim Mim Joon, and epic tragedy follows.

Delightful Girl Chunhyang (2005) - back when Hong Sisters were consistently good, this is a modern take on the famous folk tale. Our heroine is a studious poor girl and our hero a ne’er-do-well son of a local prosecutor. There is arranged marriage, true love surviving some insane sacrifice, one of my all time favorite OTPs, and a heroine and hero that grow into people I was obsessed with. Confession time - I wrote fanfic for this drama!

Cát gác mái là một câu chuyện tình yêu kinh điển về một người đàn ông học cách yêu. Phim có sự tham gia của Kim Rae Won trong vai Kyung Min và Jung Da Bin trong vai Jung Eun. Kyung Min và Jung Eun cuối cùng chia sẻ một tầng thượng với nhau và tình yêu.
