listen. i always liked werewolves more than vampires, and that’s because i just never really got the appeal of vampires - i was like, vampire-neutral. happy they existed because i know how much my friends love them. so i’m fairly certain the absolute first thing i said when i surfaced from reading @thebibliosphere‘s hunger pangs: true love bites is “i get it about vampires now.” 

i absolutely did not go into reading expecting to adore vlad as much as i do, but oh my god, is this what enjoying vampires has been like for the rest of you this entire time????? why did nobody tell me! seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i cannot recommend reading this enough, i’m never going to shut up about how much i love this book, & yes, that’s fully with the intent of being a fandom pied piper & dragging you all into this interest with me.

From this May 5, 2022 Disability Scoop article:

Currently, individuals receiving SSI can have no more than $2,000 in assets. Married couples are limited to $3,000. Those figures have not changed since 1984.

The bill known as the Savings Penalty Elimination Act would increase those caps to $10,000 for individuals and $20,000 for married couples. Moreover, the legislation would tie the asset limits to inflation going forward to ensure they keep pace with economic reality.

Correction: It would NOT give disabled people marriage equality.

If you’re disabled, and your spouse is abled and working, then your spouse’s income still counts against your benefits, and can still make you lose your benefits.

This does NOT get rid of the Marriage Penalty. (Which means if you’re on SSI and your spouse is on SSI, you each only recieve 3/4 of the benefits a single disabled person on SSI would receive.)

The asset limit increase specifically applies to couples where both parties are disabled and on SSI.

That said, it’s still a really important step. Right now, the way things work, if you have more than $2000 at any time, you can lose your benefits.  But changing that is the ONLY thing this bill does. I’ve read it.

(Since current MAXIMUM a person can be paid on SSI per month is $841, it’s more like “You can save up to $1150″ - because you need to have “room” in your account for next month’s payment, so you never ever go over $2000 - even if most of that is immediately going back out the door for rent and bills.)

I just don’t want anyone reblogging this to think this will fix the marriage inequality thing, because IT DOESN’T.

Also an update as of 6/28/22: The bill is still in the Senate Finance Committee, but it now has many more cosponsors than before from both sides of the aisle. You can check up on it on the official Senate website here.

Okay, let's see the damage report.

So, right away, a little under a third from the previous like two years. Gee, wonder what kidney could have caused such a drop in productivity rates.

At first I was like, wait, wouldn't that mean I used an average of about 3.5 tags per post? That seems highly inaccurate. Then I remember it's not counting all the tags I use repeatedly. There’s a lot of childhood fanarts of Arthur doing something childish as a gesture of affection for Francis--like bringing him a bunch of flowers with the roots and mud still hanging on--and I’m always torn because it’s cute to see Francis smile in that oh, you kind of way where he’s a little charmed even if Arthur doesn’t quite have the knack for expressing his feelings and is too young to know better...but I can also see it very in character for Francis to just be like “ew this nasty little boy keeps trying to give me worms” like Arthur is the weird neighborhood kid with a crush on him that he can’t ever seem to shake, and so Arthur has to keep going back to the drawing board on how to impress Francis because nothing ever works
