Also, naturally I have to ask, any thoughts on crossovers with any of my newest GG ocs?
Yes yes new babies new babies!
Okay so! Chanel and Rochelle would be a total vibe ngl but also Chanel and Anissa would! Like, you're gonna date my brother? Okay, you're so cool so I can allow that (she basically hated every girl he had bc she's just so overprotective)
Clara, Nellie and Oliver yes pls and thank you. The Waldorf family being just everything, the sweetest but also the most iconic in town! Also Nellie would be like another sister and Oliver would be so worried about all of them bc why all the Waldorf girls have so many issues it's not fair, they're his girls and he needs to hug all of them lmao
Emerson and Oliver just to have the "trust me, I'm his fake gf* and I know him, Eric is madly in love with you" "no he isn't, we're just friends, what are you talking about" "shut up, you're both idiots" (*or was, Oliver actually knows that Eric is gay before the Georgina mess bc he told him but this could also be after his coming out... probably both bc she would keep saying this lmao)
But also Archie and Emerson 🥺 pls pls I need Emerson to be ready to throw hands bc younger sister being overprotective of older brother is the best thing ever and they just would be everything.
Sawyer and Archie (again) bc obviously I need all the Archibald crossovers lmao. Also, when he finds out that Sawyer and Nate aren't twins he would be all "I don't care what those idiots of our parents did and said, you are my big sister and that's all"
But also Sawyer and Hillary just for PLL content lmao
Last but not least, James (& Vic). Everyone. Just like... everyone. My girl.
Also I want to use Olivia Rodrigo so bad in either the OG or the 2021 version so I'm already pushing James or Olivia crossovers bc after Ciara and Evangeline their vibe is everything

pll:original sin 1x01-1x04
I spent so long wondering if I'd seen Imogen's actress before, contemplating if she was Callie from The Fosters and going nah not quite it, only to eventually look it up and realize it's Callie's half-sister. Good casting, The Fosters
uhh very much more of a slasher vibe than OG PLL
that slowed down opening theme is sick 🔥
Tabitha's special interest is movies and she will not let us forget it. dear god.
can't believe there's no canon f/f with any of the main liars afaik. this is pretty little liars, you're not even restricted by abc family's double-standards department anymore, come on! emily fields is disappointed.
Imogen and Tabitha's friendship is cute and I could ship that
though, I find Imogen's pre-pregnancy dynamics with the girls a little undercooked? They all hate Karen and Kelly, understandably, but I don't get a sense of what they thought of Imogen back when she was BFFs with the twins
that said, I immediately bought the initial group bonding + them at the dance
poor noa. just, poor, poor noa, I hope she gets a break soon. :(
I like that Tabby's mom shares some deets about Y2K and Angela Waters with her daughter and Imogen, but it makes it way less understandable why no one is telling the moms about the creepy guy they keep seeing and the texts referencing Y2K.
I'm just saying, the original Liars were in a bit of a frog-boiling situation with A. It started with blackmail texts before escalating to direct threats on anyone's life, and the kind of blackmail you absolutely don't tell your mom!
here only Tabitha has a secret, but A hasn't really threatened to reveal it?
Faran being the least suffering liar is so funny. Girl could literally move to Pittsburgh away from this shitty little town, and probably negotiate with her mom to figure out her dad being there too. Why are you still here!
Not!Ezra is exactly as creepy as he should be, I hate him, his affect reminds me of Christian Bale in American Psycho
wonder if we'll see a liar mom fuck over angela waters in every episode. did the beasleys have beef with her too?
Mouse's mom has no discernable character trait other than being Lea Salonga.
show is actively taunting us about the possibility of a twin switch...
#jaggedwolf rambles#mine#pll os#the show being original sin and my inclination to refer to PLL as the original series keeps tripping me up#pll os watching#what a throwback tag#anw please don't spoil me about stuff in later eps#pll original sin

Season 1, Episode 1, ‘Pilot’
We see Aria and Emily talking to each other on their way into school. While they’re talking, Aria makes the sign for crazy about herself when she mentions that she doesn’t know who she is. Emily also stated that falling out of touch is maybe what they had to do.
So, Aria could’ve not had phone privileges while overseas, or Aria could have been a patient at Radley for a year after Alison left town and being in Iceland with her family was a cover?
Tell me what you think!

i saw a review of pllos on yt by someone who has done excellent pll content in the past and so i watched to see their thoughts on pllos and the views i heard were not only wrong, especially regarding miss bailee madison’s acting, but also kind of problematic when it comes to putting wealth and whiteness on a pedestal when comparing the superior original to the lowly reboot..hm thinking
#my#making me rethink a lot of their other thoughts on pll and furthermore the og isn’t untouchable acquire some humility idk#does the reboot have its problems? yes and i’ve outlined the same ones that creator did but they went beyond objectivity#calling the white og liars beautiful as if to say the new girls of color aren’t? that was the insinuation and i felt discomfort immediately#furthermore throwing off on the run down aesthetic of the new show in favor of the rich clean og vibes#even insulting the wardrobe of the new girls when compared to the ogs#like hello? these girls come from working class families and they literally dress like normal 16 year olds for the most part weirdo

PLL Original Sin - Season 1 Questions
Spoilers under the cut
ANSWERED Questions
Who is "A"? -> ANSWER: Principal Clanton & Archie Waters (Angela's Twin Brother)
Who Raped Angela Waters? -> ANSWER: Sheriff Tom Beasley.
Do the Liars’ Moms have more to do with those events then previously implied? -> ANSWER: YES. Angela told them that Tom Beasley had raped her, and they chose to not only dismiss her claims but completely ice her out and pretend she didn’t exist.
Was Davie Adams murdered or did she kill herself? -> ANSWER: According to Principal Clanton, Davie Adams killed herself – or at the very least, her death supposedly had nothing to do with them.
Why Did "A" Kill Karen? -> ANSWER: Revenge against Sheriff Beasley for raping Angela Waters back in 1999, that led to her suicide.
Is Kelly really Karen? -> ANSWER: No. Kelly is Kelly.
Who Assaulted Imogen the Night of Karen's Party? -> ANSWER: Chip.
Who Assaulted Tabby the Night of the Summer Party? -> ANSWER: Chip.
What is Mouse's "childhood trauma" that scares her moms so much? -> ANSWER: When she was 5 years old, her - unbeknownst to her - biological father made contact at a carnival, however her mother made her believe she was almost abducted.
Who is Mouse's Biological Dad? -> ANSWER: A man currently completely unrelated to the plot named Aaron Stevens.
Where is Rose Waters? -> ANSWER: She is dead. Her body has been moved to an unknown location after Imogen first found it at the old Waters’ house.
UNANSWERED Questions
Why was Angela Waters calling for “help” on the night of December 31st, 1999?
Why was Angela Waters covered in scrapes and what looks like blood on the night of December 31st, 1999?
What is the state of Imogen’s house? Girl has been spending the money she made at her Halloween party to start an investigation service, not make loan payments.
Where is Imogen’s underwear from the night she was assaulted? (I only ask this because in the OG PLL this would somehow become important 6 seasons down the road)
Why is Mouse’s birthday so different in the intro?
Who is Noa’s father? Where is he?
Who is Tabby’s father? Where is he?
Was “MM” really the one who attacked Kelly in the auditorium?
Why did “MM” kill Tyler?
Where is Tyler’s body?
Where is the janitor’s body?
To what extent was Crazy Joe apart of the “A” plan?
Did Crazy Joe really kill himself or was he murdered? If he did kill himself, why?
Where is Rose Waters’ body now?
Was that strange lady in Imogen’s flashback on Thanksgiving at the shelter really Rose Waters?
Who did the skeleton in the cage at the Waters’ home belong to?
How did “A” know that the person who tried to take Mouse in 2012 wasn’t a stranger?
In fact, how did “A” do any of their high-tech stuff?
Was Archie (“MM”) kept in a cage as a child (and that’s why there were crowns in the cage) or was that for a different kid)?
Principal Clanton says that when his family discovered that Rose Waters was pregnant, they “paid [the Waters family] off to move to another town, never to return”. Where did they move to?
What exactly was Principal Clanton’s plan? He kept talking about a “sacrifice” and it was sounding very Heathers, but never actually explained anything to the audience.
What is Archie’s plan now that he’s free?
Is Chip dead?

My Pre-release Thoughts/Mini-Theory of PLL: Original Sin
Now this theory (the first of many) will cover what I assume will take place or be relevant to what will be happening in the Pretty Little Liars reboot Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
Based off of what has been released so far as of date of posting (August 19th, 2021) the reboot’s details that have been released are few but already say a lot about what will take place.
The synopsis of the show, in a statement released by HBO Max, follows below.
“Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls—a brand-new set of Little Liars—find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-RAGE, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe—in a brand new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.”
So what does this tell us? The reboot will be set in a town near Rosewood which could potentially allow cameo appearances from the original show’s cast, though if that happened, it would need to feel organic. I’d love seeing the old cast reprise their characters for a special appearance but I think it would be best to keep the two separate from each other so as to not mess with the original show’s characters and what those writers and creators intended versus the new creators. Also this tells us that not only will this new group of Liars be getting into trouble and keeping secrets, but that their parents previously did something that someone is out for revenge for the past and present.
Ok, so what are sins? In view of the Christian faith, there are Seven Deadly Sins and also what some view as the “Original Sin”. The Seven Deadly Sins are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and laziness (sloth), while the Original Sin refers to the belief humans are born to sin through their genetics they inherited from the first man and woman, Adam and Eve who first sinned against God in the Garden of Eden. *(Other religions/faiths have sins but since this story will be set in modern-day Pennsylvania, I believe that if it has any religious allusions, it would be to the Christian faith - no disrespect to the others!)
It has been revealed that Bailee Madison, Maia Reficco, and Chandler Kinney, have been cast as Imogen Abel, Noa Oliver, and Tabby Hayworth, respectively (pictured below left to right as mentioned).
Now THIS is what stood out to me… In a show entitled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, they created a character whose last name is Abel. In the Bible, there is the famous story of Abel and Cain, where one brother kills the other. To sum it up, Cain and Abel are the sons of Adam and Eve - Cain born first and Abel second. So Cain grows jealous of Abel for the favoritism being shown to him by God, so Cain murders his own brother, Abel.
*Note: the original Pretty Little Liars books even alluded to the story of Abel and Cain as that is the basis for the twins storyline of Alison and Courtney… notice the names have the same first letters, except Courtney is Abel and Alison is Cain (since she murdered Courtney).
Now how does this tie into my theory?
Well I believe that the original sin committed by the Liars’ parents was murder of a classmate/friend/enemy for one of the 7 deadly sins (or maybe it was self-defense?). Imogen Abel will either be killed by her (secret/twin?) sibling (like Abel) or she will end up the killer (like Cain). Since the books twisted the Abel/Cain story to make the killer’s name start with “A” (and ultimately be known as “A”), I think it’s fair to guess that Imogen could be the real killer and “A” in the reboot. Also her parents will definitely be involved in the “original sin” since their last name is Abel and Abel’s parents were Adam and Eve who committed the original sin.
I’m unsure how much material the reboot will pull from the books and the original show in terms of storyline ideas or plot points, so who knows what to really expect! However, a few key staples of the Pretty Little Liars brand are things that some fans may be tired of but they are what have made the show and the books the phenomenon they are. They are:
1. a group of characters being targeted, harassed, stalked, and tormented by an unknown foe who is always a few steps ahead of their prey
2. the unknown stalker being connected to the group or a specific member of the group, and having their reason for their actions being tied to the group/individual in some twisted/straightforward way
3. the one thing some fans will be tired of but I personally *love* … TWINS. Yupp, there HAS to be twins at some point in the show, and it has to be crucial to the plot. It was the premise of the books’ storyline, and then in the last A arc storyline in the original show.
For the PLL reboot to feel like I’m watching a PLL-inspired show (since I know it’s all new content), there HAS to be the 3 plot points I just mentioned and I believe that will be factored into my earlier points about Imogen and her family. Imogen will be the new Alison, and she will be the one to have a twin or even be the new A.
Final thoughts/mini-theories:
- I’m pretty positive that twins will be involved in the mystery, to what extent I am unsure but I have strong feelings Imogen will be featured in that storyline.
- It’s possible that Imogen may be a twin, and if it’s not her, I believe it will be one of her parents, since their last name is Abel, tying back into what I explained earlier.
- The Liars in the reboot will be more proactive in figuring out the identity of their stalker and the underlying mystery, than their predecessors in the original TV series. *No hate to the OG Liars but it always felt like they never tried hard enough to get law enforcement or anyone to help them out until the later seasons instead of from the get-go.*
- I don’t want this reboot to be a faithful adaptation in the sense of using all the material from the books but applying it to new characters. I have mixed opinions on it being set in the same universe as the OG show but I’m glad they will have a new setting, characters, and plot. I do still wish they utilize the twins storyline because I personally LOVE twins and have always found the PLL Alison/Courtney storylines one of the best ever written in terms of the buildup to the reveal, the details dropped along the way, and just the way my mind was blown apart reading it the first time.
So that’s pretty much all I have at this point based off what has been released. Hopefully this show will bring back old fans, bring in new fans, and we can rebuild the PLL community here again! Let me know your thoughts/theories/comments about the reboot, or even about the original show(s) and books! ❤️

Chapter Six: Scars
We pick up with Tabitha talking about what happened over the summer. She was at work with Chip when Greg asked Tabby if she wanted to come to a bonfire. Chip covered for her and initially Tabby was having fun, at first. She got dizzy from drinking and decided she should go home. She doesn't know who could've done something so horrible and wrong to her.
Imogen tells Tabby that she's sorry that that happened to her and discovers she's the first person that Tabby told. Imogen reveals that she doesn't know who it was either (the baby daddy) and that she remembers even less than Tabby does.
They hold each other and Imogen asks Tabby if she'll go with her to meet her possible Angela source.
MondAy
Faran finds out from Kelly that the teacher was going to throw her out of the show after what was said on Halloween.
Mouse is going on a date!
1999
Corey (Faran's mom) is the next mom to receive a gift from A. Back in '99, she lied to Angela and told her that the girls were going to get a tattoo of their initials. After Angela is done, she sees that Corey had left.
Back to the present, Faran reveals to Henry (?) her scoliosis.
Tabby and Imogen meet with Jo - "Crazy Jo" and discover that he was in love with her. He tells them that the group of girls adopted her and turned her into a "high town bitch". Angela's only family was her mother who snapped after her death. She came to the school with a knife and tried to injure a group of boys. She was stopped and sent to the Radley Sanitarium in Rosewood. Sound familiar? So, the girls decide to make a trip to Rosewood to find Rose Waters. However, in the OG PLL, Radley got turned into a hotel.
Mouse tries to break things off with Steve and Noa has to tell Shawn (her boring boyfriend) to back off with her mom.
TuesdAy
Imogen tells the rest of girls about Rosewood but no one can go except for Tabby.
Noa tells her mom that she can have her job back as long as she goes to rehab for 30 days. After a quick sentimental talk, her mom agrees.
In ballet, Faran dances for a recruiter with her mom in the back. Kelly tries to sabotage Faran by revealing her scoliosis, but the recruiter is only further impressed.
The girls make it to Radley (which doesn't look the same :() and are told that they can speak to Eddy Lamb who won't be in until tomorrow. So, Imogen and Tabby decide to stay at Radley until then.
Noa's stupid boyfriend shows up to Noa's house to talk to her mom. He tells her that Noa told him about the drug addiction and how Noa gave up a spot on the team. He tells her to stop dragging her down and leaves.
Faran has dinner with her parents (her dad looks familiar...) and discusses the performance. Her mom proposes that Faran get surgery to get the scar removed from her back. Her father is against it and Faran says she's willing to check it out.
Tabby decides to explore Rosewood while Imogen enjoys a night in.
Mouse is on her bowling date with Ash! It's hella cute until Steve ruins it. She sends Ash to a nacho run and confronts Steve who introduces himself as Mouse's dad. She feigns sickness and asks to be taken home. Mouse was pretending to be Steve's daughter because Rachel was taken from him.
TABBY FINDS A BOOKSTORE AND IT'S CALLED EZRA'S BOOKS. She meets a cute guy and makes out in his car...which the latter is her worst-case scenario and declines to go out with him. He says it's no problem and leaves.
Kelly gets attacked after receiving a text from A. The text asks if she's Kelly or Karen and she screams that she's Kelly.
Faran decides not to have surgery because it's multiple surgeries that will take a long time and be painful. She questions if she even wants it. She tells her mom that how her mom talks to her makes her feel horrible. She doesn't understand why her mom is obsessed with appearances. They have a mini argument and Faran tells her she doesn't care what she thinks anymore.
Imogen and Tabby have breakfast with Eddy and discover that their mothers came to visit Angela's mother under the name A. Waters. Rose was at Radley until it shut down. They find out that Angela was taken advantage of before she jumped off on Y2K night.
From A, Faran finds out that she never needed the surgery for her scoliosis. The doctor advised against it but her mother wanted to go through with it.
Looking through the sign-in book from Radley, Tabby noticed that there's a sixth different A. Waters signature. That obviously means that there's someone else who went to see Rose Waters. They talk about how they feel for Angela and what happened to her before she fell. Imogen talks about the night at Karen's party. That's the night her own trauma happened and that's the night she got pregnant.
The girls make it back in time for Faran's performance where Steve is and Faran has to leave. Her mother was in an accident.

Fandom meme: X
X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM
Kurt Hummel - is this a surprise to anyone here?
Blaine Anderson - again, no one should be surprised.
Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars) - probably my OG fave. I was in the PLL fandom while the show aired, and my girl got so much hate, most of which was utterly sexist and hypocritical.
Alison DiLaurentis (Pretty Little Liars) - she was kind of awful, but she was a favorite of mine anyway.
Emma Swan (Once Upon A Time) - I love her. I’ve always loved her.
Steve Rogers (MCU) - I’m not sure why I am so attached to him, but I am. And it is killing me at the moment to not know whether or not he’s dead.
Jason Grace (Riordanverse) - Everyone thinks he’s boring. I’ve loved him since the year 2010 and was absolutely crushed when he was killed off.
Lily van der Woodsen (Gossip Girl) - I’m not sure if this is poor taste, but I’ve always loved her and thought that she deserved so much better than what she got.
Eleanor Shellstrop (The Good Place) - the definition of precious.
Haley Dunphy (Modern Family) - girl was so much more than the dumb bitch they tried to make her into! I still mourn her relationship with Andy.

In the spirit of not ruling anything out...
In our hunt for answers regarding arguably this season’s biggest question, “Who Killed Nolan?”, I think many of us fans have done exactly what the show-runners are wanting us to do: mentally ruled out Ava, Caitlin, or Dylan as likely suspects in Nolan’s murder because they’re meant to be our protagonists. Our “good guys.” Much like we dealt with in the OG Pretty Little Liars, our core group is being, we’re supposed to believe, unjustly targeted by internal and external investigators.
But... what if that’s just meant to throw us off?
In re-watching Episode 3, something from the opening interaction between Ali and “The Perfectionists” sent up alarm bells:
Caitlin: (to Ali) Why did you say we were here with you.. that night Nolan was killed? Why did you lie for us? Ali: The Beacon Guard cameras in this area were down when Nolan was killed, so for now, this is a solid alibi. Ava: Well, that’s the answer to how we might get away with it. It’s not why you did it.
Okay.. I get it. It’s very possible that Ava meant “why we might get away with saying that we were here.” Probably even likely. But what if instead, it was one of those little breadcrumb clues (much like this one, that we still believe is going to prove that Claire knows/suspects that Taylor is alive) that was meant to go largely unnoticed, yet actually is indicative of something deeper?
I see two possible motives.
1. One of the oldest/most classic motives there is -- rage, fueled by betrayal. Ava just stumbled upon the man she loved, and the only person she felt she could trust in the world now that her father has fled, cheating on her. While as viewers, we are led to believe that Nolan was doing this to protect Ava from Beacon Guard security, all Ava witnessed was the infidelity as it happened, followed by Nolan adding insult to injury by being verbally cruel to her.
2. While this is just speculation, I do believe that Ava knows her father’s whereabouts, and if nothing else, we can confirm that she is in possession of a large sum of his money, which the feds were clearly intending to seize in their search of the family home. If Ava shared any of this information with Nolan, her motive to silence him increases -- especially now that she believes him to be a heartless, manipulative liar. If Nolan were to share this information, it puts both she and her father at risk for legal repercussions (if she withheld her father’s whereabouts from the FBI, she could be charged and jailed for obstruction of justice).
Opportunity/Means?
The whole reason Ali gave The Perfectionists an alibi is because technically, any of them had the time and opportunity to kill Nolan. Furthermore, I think most of us have been united in the suspicion that Nolan being murdered in the exact way that Caitlin “fantasized” about mere moments earlier could logically only mean 1 of 2 things: A. Caitlin killed him, or B. Someone who overheard Caitlin’s fantasy carried it out themselves -- either out of pure “inspiration”, and/or because it made Caitlin a likely suspect.
Much like the original PLL series, we know that there are multiple facets of this story line that have yet to unfold: Beacon Guard, the Hotchkiss family, Taylor’s suicide, Mason’s shadiness, Caitlin’s family history, Mona’s involvement... the list goes on and on. In turn, we’ve learned that one person is very rarely solely to blame/responsible for everything going on, and that “villain” is often a relative term -- a character can still be likable and redeemable even if they commit crimes or otherwise partake in heinous behavior (um, hello, Ali and Mona, we’re looking at both of you!). This could explain Ava’s turn to drinking after Nolan’s death. We’re meant to assume that it was due to sadness, but could it have been driven by guilt?
Do I think it’s likely that Ava killed Nolan? Maybe not. But do I think it’s possible? Hell yes, I do.
What do all of you think? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks, as always, for sharing your journey with us, fandom!
- Gavin from Team EndgAme

THE PERFECTIONISTS SECRETS REVEALED
Sydney Park, Marlene King and Sofia Carson revealed ‘secrets’ about the show to Seventeen magazine upon the premiere and this is what happened:
“Everybody is a liar. Everybody is a suspect. In similar to PLL, there is a dead body and there’s somebody that killed the dead body. A lot of people have secrets and those secrets will be exploited by a new big bad that isn’t A, whose a completely new BIG BAD, whose name you’ll find out soon.” - Marlene King
In true Pretty Little Liars fashion, everyone is a suspect and in the upcoming episode, Dana, the new head of security at BHU is suspicious of Nolan’s “friendship group.” I’d say to take everything Marlene gives us in interview extremely lightly. She’s saying that we may not know the name of this person meaning that we haven’t been introduced to them yet but we probably have already been introduced them. This alone rules out Mona but I still believe that she has some involvement.
“There’s an episode which I’m really excited about. Ava loves fashion as you know and her dream is to work at Vogue so there’s something that happens in an episode, it’s a very exciting and chaotic episode for Ava but a big triumph for her aswell. So it’s really exciting.” - Sofia Carson
Wouldn’t this be a really cool opportunity to bring in Hanna Marin? Imagine this, recognised fashion designer Hanna Marin offers Ava Jalali an opportunity of a lifetime. This way, we get to see Hanna even though it would be brief. In true, PLL status, something will likely happen to jeopardise Ava’s opportunity
“To be honest with you it’s fun to keep Sasha and Janel’s characters alive. It’s super fun. But just getting to know these new characters, they’re all just super great people. They’re just great people. Building this family together and discovering their characters together has been a blast. I love them all.” - Marlene King
“It gets so much hotter. Keep watching. It’s such a solid show. We mix the OG Pll but this is a whole other level of darkness and secrets.” - Sydney Park
So does mean that we get mature level sexual content that we didn’t get with the original? Not that I’m asking for that to be the main focus, Marlene focused way too much time on Ezria and Haleb having sex and just cute couples scenes in general. I love that they’re staying true to the original but DARKER SECRETS AND DARKNESS? That’s something I like to hear. Let’s hope this means there are no secret family members who are jealous and got neglected. Nolan’s death scene was dark enough. I’m ready
“We have a lot of Easter eggs. We play homage to the original PLL and you’ll find out what’s happening in Rosewood whilst this show is still existing. And there are a lot of Easter eggs fans of PLL will recognise along the way.”
We already had some great Easter eggs with Mona possibly talking to herself in the third person, appearing out of nowhere and talking about pie. The parallel of Hanna slamming Jenna’s car bonnet to Alison slamming Mona’s, Mona saying that her reason for being in Paris escaped her, Claire saying that Alison is mean girl to mentor. And now Mar is hinting that we’ll find out what’s going on in Rosewood currently? Maybe that means we’ll get a mention of Hanna from Mona, or Emison details.
“Expect the unexpected. There are times where you’re gonna say ‘I know what’s gonna happen because I watched PLL but just like in PLL, what appears to be isn’t.”
- Marlene King
So Marlene is partially telling us that she has learned from the original. She’s telling us not to expect what she did in the first one. So hopefully that means no twins, no secret family members etc. What appears to be isn’t?

Who is your favorite of the new liars?
The OG liars will always be the liars to me. As far as the perfs, I really like Ava so far. Her fashion sense is to die for. I think her story is really interesting too. We’re only two episodes in and her character already has a lot of layers. I get the sense that she has a big heart but tries to guard herself at the same time. She’s been betrayed by her family, wants to build her own success, she seems independent and driven, she had a complex relationship with Nolan (dating in secret, getting heartbroken, yet still grieving). She mentioned not having anyone in 1x02 so I’m excited to see her relationship with the perfs and Ali (and hopefully Mona) develop. I started watching PLL for the mystery but I really fell in love with the friendship the liars had.

Hi, same anon! I meant like the adult actors playing underage characters re: people not writing minors, like all the riverdale actors even circa s1 sjshdhdhdf but by darker themes I meant like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon and the like. Like notably, I remember someone making a gif pack of Emilia Clarke as Daenerys and their rules say not to use their gifs for taboo topics, but unfortunately due to who she plays, Dany does have a relationship with her nephew, though it’s waaaaay different from House of the Dragon with Daemon and Rhaenyra because they’re of similar age, and they didn’t grow up as family. Not to mention that in universe what’s classed as incest is far different from what we know and understand as incest, at least amongst the nobles, because of course at some point they’re gonna wind up marrying a cousin if they’re all marrying other nobles primarily!!!
But I digress. There’s just too many people on the rpg side who forget that people do write in fandom until they want to go after a fandom group for partaking in the very basics of that world. Now I won’t deny that I’ve seen some in my time following resource makers that are just… weird about writing their underage characters, and they deserved the shit flung at them. But still!! Not everyone thats an adult that writes underage characters are the weirdos who write shit to get their kicks off, and overall the people who go after everyone who does instead of specifically the people who are being awful just don’t seem to care about that,
hi, it's skye. (following this post) okay so for context, my brain is taken up by soooo much asoiaf lore is dumb, so i'm very much understanding where you're getting at now! mind you, my old ass hasn't watched any of the teen dramas since?? shit idk, but maybe pll and og gossip girl, i was here when glee fandom was here last century, but let me go on the darker themes thing before i go on the canon-underage point... i am somehow prehistoric in ya teen-ish drama shows regard.
we're using ASOIAF as a basis for our chat abt dark themes, for yall who don't know it's darker themes in australia are rated as this: "R 18+ — material is restricted to adults as it contains content that is considered high in impact for viewers. this includes content that may be offensive to sections of the adult community."
here's the hook when it comes to this genre and fandom, you cannot truly immerse yourself in this world without opting in for the fact that it is a MATURE 18+ universe. when it comes to content creators though, i have always held the belief (bc i am one of them) that we are allowed to put restrictions on how we want our creations used, regardless of what genre its coming from. it seems completely odd to someone like me, and probably you, to be so against certain topics but to have giffed etc. a show that surrounds that topic... BUT, sometimes we just gif because we adore the actor, because it's our dream fancast for another franchise, because we just 😍 and want to. not everyone is comfortable with the same things i am, and i've grown to understand that.
think of it this way, you want to have emilia as dany as an oc LOTR elven role, and you are not comfortable with the heaviness of ASOIAF's themes and the role of dany, but many medieval or similarly aesthetic-ed universes don't include it to that level. maybe that person is who made a pack, and then decided to bless the public with free resources after/while using them for themselves. tbf maybe that person, like me, has certain spiritual, religious or cultural beliefs that mean they view certain topics as extremely detrimental or offensive to their overall wellbeing and don't want to associate their energy with it. we really can't know for sure, but these are very real possibilities and realities, and while it seems at face value... kinda odd, in that case it's just a personal boundary that we don't have to understand to respect. if you do need clarification from a gif maker who has giffed someone who is in a dark-themed show, i highly encourage approaching them and just having a genuine chat 🙏🏾
i personally would not gif resources for a person in a heavy-themed role and then disallow them to be used for the role that was performed, but i can understand how some people might. i suppose with the popularity of the ASOIAF+ universe it means we are fortunate enough to have multiple packs of the leads, and i know that many do allow them to be used in that universe. i personally also think that "do not use to roleplay taboo content" is a good blanket rule, however it doesn't necessarily account for the mature and dark genre rpgs that people do participate in with full consent. i think that we do need to account for this in literature and in the creative genres, but i also know firsthand that while ASOIAF rpgs have open acknowledgement and ic discussion of all the dark themes within the universe, it does not have to include roleplaying the top tier horrors of the show on the dash. i think my only advice in this regard is to create your own resources, commission them if you cant make your own, approach a content creator and just talk with them and explain; perhaps come to a compromise. bc fr, i have never met a person (again who i claim in the rpc) who has wanted to rp r-pe, inc-st, etc. even in that verse and i have spent YEARS in it.
there may be people like myself who will make gifs and specify that its acceptable to use my resources within the realms of what occurs in that universe/show/etc, so you could consider seeking out those resources. particularly given that the actor has already consented to have their image used in such themes and have worked hard at their craft in these genres. but yeah, for suuure in taboo subjects are def spoken about in worlds like asoiaf - it's one of the more confronting genres and fandoms i think!! - these themes are used as character history, in it's lore and it comes with the world the fandom is in, as with the others that are mature genre. and i personally don't count ic speaking on/about the taboo topics relevant in your fandom rpg world as roleplaying taboo topics... but as i always say i dont speak for anyone else, but i will again encourage conversation to see if the pack creators are open to that, assuming that you don't intend to abuse the creations, but rather honour and acknowledge the appropriate genre and its themes. as rpers, we can't demand someone change their boundaries for their content usage, but i do agree that sometimes the mature genre rpgs (again, those are my favourite 🤌🏾) are, by proxy, often collateral to rpc protecting themselves from the Big Gross.
again i'm here to say to you that there is nothing weird about adults writing the POV of teenagers, especially underage people in the worlds we've spoken about we're it's kinda... obvious that they are and should be there. i have always been of that mindset. there is also nothing weird about favouring genres like this, i feel like crossing over into using underage fcs and underage actors to roleplay the actual themes of the show in a public forum, however, is not exactly appropriate. we can explore those mature dynamics and chemistry with more age appropriate characters. i absolutely understand the frustration and that the feeling of being put into a box with some of the worst connotations is awful. but you need to remember that, as long as you are doing the right thing, you don't need to shoulder that burden. when you go ahead and roleplay (whatever forum, whatever indie or group or 1x1 or whatever it is) set up clear rules, set up a disclaimer, i have set up clauses for my roleplays for people to fully opt in to certain themes or choose not to; there ARE ways to work around the hurdles... and those hurdles will likely always be there. & it's not because of you or me, or anyone i call friend on here, it's because of those minute fraction that have soured us and made us vigilant and doubful.
i ALSO MUST NOTE, that writing and portraying underage taboo themes, or writing these things with an underage partner, can and is illegal in some places of the world, so that is a huuuuuge!!! part of the rules and regulations rpers conduct themselves by.
— — — "I meant like the adult actors playing underage characters re: people not writing minors, like all the riverdale actors even circa s1"
okay on to this point ^^ i'm again VEEEERY far removed from the teen drama world and ive not even seen riverdale (read: am dinosaur), but i feel like this can get a little tricky too. i would think that the riverdale universe seems to be focussed on the late teens (played by adults), so i would think that the obstacle would probably boil down to what each person is comfortable with or what they believe a teen should be up to, and what they are comfortable portraying through the pov of a teenager, even a supernatural world one. it is realistic to the world that some teens smoke, drink, do drugs, have sex or sexual interactions, and some don't live the IRL Skins life. note: for me personally the age of consent is sixteen mind you so that's where my point of view and personal stance is anchored. however, if you are portraying a 17yo who is not dabbling in mature themes or age-inappropriate activities or trying to ship mature themes, etc. etc. — then i have no problem with it? i don't think you need to create and oc unless its within a canon world, like... the harry potter universe is bound in teen land, the hunger games is also. as previously discussed, mayb with you? or perhaps another anon, i think there is more wiggle room for portraying someone as an intentional teen/late teen/just underage. i would also say that playing someone under 17 feels weird, but again, i'm nearly 28 so that might be my own age gap bias??? if you are 20 years old, then i'm sure a 17 year old character is probably more accessible?? idk man 💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️ i find it really hard to speak about fandom rpc because i wholeheartedly don't know what goes on at all.
there's far too much nuance to this, like there is so much that i cant cover with general statements overall. i super appreciate you wanting to know my thoughts and coming to me to rant, i've DEF been there. as someone who is very deeply connected to tolkien, asoiaf and also twd (all mature & 18+ themed universes), i would say that the thing that helped me most was crafting an rpg where it was a safe space for likeminded people to write and create within that world, a lot of work is needed to ensure no one tries to weasel in with bad intentions, but it was hugely beneficial to me and my muse. otherwise, from my memory, the tumblr indie community is filled with fandom characters and maybe that might be a home for you? i'm also very sorry that you feel like you're or you have been caught in that catchment of being perceived as "gross" or targeted by someone, i promise you that it's not you but rather a blind reaction from someone or some people who have assumed without approaching to have conversation and discuss; and fr?? those people, they're not gonna be your people on here 🫶🏾🙏🏾 you are within your rights to be upset and angry, so if you wanna rant or chat i'm happy to be here!! if you need any advice on tumblr-asoiaf creation things, i'm also very happy to give you some advice??
stay blessed and keep creating ✌🏽

Pretty Little Liars may have ended earlier this summer, but that doesn't mean that fans' adventures in Rosewood need to come to a complete stop anytime soon. After all, there's a PLLspinoff television series in the works, featuring Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, and author Sara Shepard is reportedly hard at work on penning new stories about our favorite Liars — including three e-books completely focused on Alison DiLaurentis.
And that's not the only PLL-related tale that Sara has been working on. She has also created a short story titled It's Not Easy Being "A" — which is exactly what it sounds like: a look inside the mind of the OG villain in the black hoodie, Mona Vanderwaal. The story will be available inside the paperback release of her novel The Amateurs, which is on sale as of today (Tuesday, October 3), along with the second book in The Amateurs series, Follow Me. And if you can't wait to read all about what Mona has to say, you're in luck, because Teen Vogue has an exclusive excerpt right here.
In the short story, Mona takes the reader on a journey down her path to becoming "A," going back as far as the day that Ali disappeared. She explains that once Ali was gone and out of Rosewood, she tried to befriend the other Liars, but was only able to secure Hanna's companionship. Still, she couldn't let go of the way Ali had bullied her all throughout middle school, and she slowly decided to get revenge. "I started to think about Ali's whole posse," Mona explains in the story, adding: "They didn't have a clue what it felt like to be teased the way they'd teased me — and they probably never would. I wanted to give them a little education."
From there, Mona describes the very moment she decided to become "A" — and it's a chilling scene involving Ali's old room, lost memories, and a secret diary. The story itself is the perfect dose of nostalgia for fans who are missing the series, especially the early seasons leading up to Mona's huge reveal. Ahead, check out the excerpt of the short story, and be sure to read the entire thing once you get your hands on a copy of Sara Shepard's The Amateurs.
Excerpt from It's Not Easy Being "A", by Sara Shepard:
I wish I could say I’m humble. The sort of girl who fades into the shadows after pulling off something amazing and says, Oh, you know. We all worked hard. But forget that, people. You don’t get far in life by sharing the spotlight. I’ve been kicked around too much already—life owes me. Nope, I want all the credit. I want to go down in freaking history. And you know what? I think it might just happen.
It’s Friday night, and I’m at the Rosewood Country Club, where the welcome-back masquerade party I’m throwing for my longtime bestie, Hanna Marin, is about to start. It’s a typical Mona Vanderwaal party. You know, where a huge party tent is transformed into a casino swanky enough that supermodels and high rollers would beg to play here. There are faux-marble walls and velvet banquettes. I called in professional card dealers from Atlantic City. A fleet of hot waiters roams about with canapés. I even rigged a Cleopatra-style platform for Hanna to ride in on for her big entrance. Basically, Vanity Fair and Us Weekly should be photographing this thing instead of the lame-ass Main Line society blog . . . and I’m the mastermind behind all of it.
I hear a crackle on my headset. “Okay, Hanna’s in position.” It’s a sophomore loser whose name I can’t remember; I chose her from a list of minions who begged to help out with the party. Little do these girls know they’ll be helping out with a few other details tonight, too. Namely, spying.
“Great,” I say into the microphone. “DJ, let’s get some entrance music for my girl.”
The opening notes of classic hip-hop swell from the DJ booth. The tasseled platform, held aloft by a team of muscled models, parades into the tent. Hanna, her banged-up face concealed with a satin mask, sits atop the thing, waving like a queen. Welcome back, Hanna! reads a banner over the entrance. Before I hung it up, I had everyone at school add personalized messages, cheesy things like We were so worried about you! and So happy you’re okay! Girls Hanna never even spoke to signed that thing like they were her soul sisters—but, hey, when a girl is mowed down by a car in a dark parking lot, everyone’s going to rally around her. Naturally, I added my own message, a long note about how I was so thankful that all that had happened to my bestie in the hit-and-run was a mild case of amnesia. It felt a little disingenuous writing it—because, well, yours truly was the one who was driving the car that fateful night. I had to do it, though. She’d figured out I was A. She knew too much.
Not that Hanna remembers that.
“Woot!” Hanna cries under the mask. Everyone from Rosewood Day cheers. I plaster a fake smile on my face until my cheeks hurt. Enjoy it for now, bitch, I think as the guys bobble Hanna’s platform even higher. Because it’s all going to be over soon. And this time, I’m going to leave you with a lot more than just bruises. Let the party begin!
I'm really not one for sob stories. I don’t want you to pity me. Yes, I, Mona Vanderwaal, used to be a girl I don’t like thinking about anymore, a girl with qualities I’m so far removed from I’m not going to bore you by talking about them. And I just happened to live on the same street as Alison DiLaurentis, one of the cruelest girls I’ve ever met, a girl who took great pleasure in making my life miserable. But whatevs, right?
Others might wallow in this sad past. They might make anti- bullying proclamations on their Facebook pages or start a charity, and they’d definitely slouch through high school as a weird, nichey nerd. But I never wanted to be that girl. When Ali and her little crew—Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Emily Fields, and Aria Montgomery—teased, taunted, laughed, and humiliated me, I might have run away with my tail between my legs, but I was pissed.
I didn’t have anything to do with Ali’s disappearance the very last day of seventh grade. Still, the day the news broke, I shut myself inside my bedroom and stared at myself in the mirror. There was a wide, freaked-out smile on my face. I laughed silently for what felt like hours. The universe had finally listened to me. It was a miracle.
My parents were glued to the TV that whole weekend, horrified that the most magnetic, beautiful girl in all of Rosewood had disappeared from our street. They joined the search parties. They went to charity events in Ali’s honor. But can you guess what I was doing? Crossing my fingers and toes. Throwing coins into fountains. Coming up with every superstitious way to wish for that bitch to be gone for good.
Once eighth grade began, a light switch came on, and all of a sudden, my social life improved. With Ali still missing, I realized I could scoop up one of her adrift friends and start a new clique. That’s right: My first instinct was to befriend those bitches, not to ruin them. What can I say? I idolized them. I wanted to be them. Fun fact: My first choice was Spencer Hastings. We were in the same honors classes togethernot that she ever noticed me—and our houses were across from each other. I spent every day staring at the large, stately gates that surrounded the Hastings property. Spencer, in all her preppy, purebred Rosewood-ness, felt right.
But Spencer ignored me same as ever. Guess we don’t always get what we want.
Hanna, the group’s weakest and most insecure, ended up a great second choice, though. Together, she and I got hot. Straightened our hair. Discovered self-tanning. Basically, we became swans. Kids I’d known since kindergarten thought I was a new girl, I looked so different, and with Hanna at my side, I had instant entrée into popularity. You’d think I’d be satisfied with that.
Oh, people. All that glitters . . . well, sometimes it turns green the moment you put it on your finger.
The thing is, even after Hanna and I started sharing sushi bento boxes for lunch and shopping out of each other’s closets, there were still these moments when I’d look over at her and think, I can’t believe you. Let’s face it: Hanna might not have been the one dishing out the insults, but she’d stood there like a tree stump and let Ali tease me again and again and again. She never stuck up for me. She never looked conflicted about what Ali was doing. And you know what? After we became close, Hanna never apologized about it. I kept waiting for this big mushy moment between us...but it never came.
So after years of friendship, I started to get bitter. I started to think about Ali’s whole posse, actually, and what they were up to now that Ali was gone. They didn’t really seem damaged by any of it. They didn’t have a clue what it felt like to be teased the way they’d teased me—and they probably never would.
I wanted to give them a little education.
Cue the DiLaurentis family finally moving out of their house. Cue them dumping all sorts of shit on their curb for the garbagemen. Cue nosy me noticing their garbage, which included framed boy-band posters from Ali’s room, which her family had kept like a shrine for four long years. It might sound sort of perverse, but I really wanted those posters. I wanted something from the girl who made my life hell hanging in my bedroom. As a reminder, maybe. As a weird sort of vision board.
What I found beneath those boy-band posters, of course, was far more valuable: a diary full of dirt on Ali’s best friends. It turned me into a whole new person: A.
Yep. I want credit for that, too.
