We talked about the Twin Digimon last week. This week, I wanna take a closer look at their (standard) evolution lines.
As you can see, they each have a "regular" and a "dark" evolution line. In Lopmon's case, the "dark" evolution line specifically has a corruption theme. This is, of course, because Lopmon and its entire "dark" line were designed for the movie Hurricane Touchdown, which had its corruption as the main plot point. As a result, Lopmon's lines are very different from each other, while Terriermon only gets simple classic recolors.
Possibly the most corrupted among them is Wendimon.
Wendimon first gets introduced in the movie, and it posesses a chilling presence throughout all of it. However, not just Hurricane Touchdown, but all iterations of Wendimon, across the franchise's media, depict it as somehow corrupted beyond reason, usually not even being able to talk in cohesive sentences.
I wanna take a short moment to talk about its name origin. I'll not delve into too much detail, as I'm sure there are more educated people on this topic, but Wendimon is named after an evil spirit from Anishinaabe cultures, which name you are not supposed to say, as to not draw the spirit to you. I just wanted to share, in case some of you weren't aware.
But, moving on
The "regular" adult levels Gargomon and Turuiemon. Comparing the two, I really like how Gargomon has a long-range armed combat theme and Turuiemon a close-range combat theme. Gargomon, as mentioned before, appeared in Hurricane Touchdown and appeared plenty in Tamers as Jian's partner. Turuiemon, unfortunately, didn't have any big appearances until recent years. It had its debut in December 2001 as a card in Hyper Coloseum, in a Tamers themed booster.
Next up are Lopmon's perfect Level evolutions, Antylamon and Antylamon (Deva). The original Antylamon from Hurricane Touchdown is a Virus type. For Tamers, they decided to have Antylamon as the Deva representing the Hare, and so a Data type variant was created. It had its debut in Hyper Coloseum, in a booster featuring all Deva, a month before first seen in the anime at the end of 2001. The biggest visual difference is the purple scarf of Antylamon (Deva), but it also has a crest, like all Deva, on its chestplate (more on that maybe at some point?). Video games predominantly feature Antylamon (Deva) over Antylamon (Virus).
Now, if you remember, Terriermon and Lopmon were specifically designed for the movie Hurricane Touchdown. With Terriermon first showing up in its child form and Lopmon in its adult form, Wendimon, Gargomon and Antylamon are each twins' first evolution we get to see them actually evolve into during the movie. Because of this, it's interesting to me that these two share a distinct symbol, Antylamon on its arms and Gargomon on its face.
Another evolution we get introduced to in the Hurricane Touchdown movie is Rapidmon (Armor). Most people are probably more familiar with the green Perfect level Rapidmon as we see it in Tamers. Looking at the Digimental of Fate, you can see the classic Armor Digimon - Digimental resemblance. Rapidmon's abdomen comes from the sphere part of the Digimental, the base below that resembles its boots, and the wing on top resembles the ear-wings. Because the Perfect level Rapidmon uses essentially the same design, the jump from Gargomon to Rapidmon seems a lot bigger than the one from Terriermon to Gargomon. On a little side note, the official Bandai artwork of Rapidmon (Perfect) has an open helmet, even though the anime uses a closed helmet like the Rapidmon (Armor). BlackRapidmon, despite being a recolor, has a closed helmet as well.
Lastly, a short look at Cherubimon (Virtue) and Cherubimon (Vice). Both of them, again, debuted in the movie Hurricane Touchdown, which influenced their design. We get to see the corrupted, mad Cherubimon (Vice) first and only briefly see it in its Cherubimon (Virtue) form.
I believe the simple but effective changes between their designs were in part to allow this nice transition at the end of the movie.
The Lopmon line, especially, gets used in a lot of media for the sake of corruption/dark evolution story lines. Most noteworthy, Cherubimon (Vice) is the (first) main villain in the Digimon Frontier Anime season.

Digimon Frontier - Episode 4
I really enjoyed this episode! Probably because it was really pretty and focused on token girl Izumi. We already almost have all the spirit evolutions...will the next step be powering up each one or something else?
Notes:
I guess it's okay for them to emphasize the Fairymon is a "female warrior" (episode title), but I was kind of annoyed that she wasn't strong enough to win her debut battle and Wolfmon came to the rescue. That's kinda bullshit. And then Takuya and Tomoki laughed at the thought of Izumi digivolving 😑 (probably accurate to elementary school boys in the 2000s tho)
Was Koji gonna just sleep on that bench without anything else? DigiWorld life is rough. If this was Tamers then sleep wouldn't be needed (I think)
I think they've introduced about 4 different train digimon at this point. How many are there? And can I collect their figures?
When Tomoki and Takuya were running across the bridge and it was falling apart, what was up with that? Is Cherubimon actively destroying the DigiWorld?
Omg Fairymon's design is amazing <3 Love the color scheme and her face is cute too. I'm a little surprised how sexy she is though, she's basically wearing lingerie and it wasn't censored in the dub at all. Also, I had to laugh when part of her transformation sequence was a perfectly triangular pair of panties hovering towards her. She also attacks with her butt at one point. Oh well, despite feeling awkward about her design being in a kids' show, she's still a queen
Izumi slapping the Mushmon was great lol. Love it when humans fight digimon directly like that.
The gag where Junpei is like "purple and yellow, what kinda loser would like those colors? " to the Mushmon and then Izumi's like "you've gone too far." got a laugh out of me.
Koji continues to be a butt munch. Wonder when he'll officially join the team?

Because I've been thinking about DigiMon lately; I kinda wish that during Frontier, ALL of the antagonist Legendary Warrior DigiMon had the same situation as the main kids. That is, they were ALSO children who were Digi-Destined, but when they arrived in the Digital World, they were contacted by CherubiMon, who manipulated them by either amplifying shame and guilt they had concerning their faults, or promising them a chance to feel special.
When the main kids meet the antagonist DigiMon, they don't realize these are other kids at first, because they only ever see them while fighting and transformed with their Spirit Evolution. Eventually, when one of them is finally defeated a tired-out, the main kids see them transform back! They finally realize these "evil DigiMon" are just like them! Except, y'know. Being jerks to the EXTREME.
The only one who they never see as a child is the DuskMon, who also has never encountered the Digi-Destined as children. Koichi still has the same problem, having gotten injured on his way to the train station, and so his body is still in the human world, while his spirit came to the Digital World. His memories are painful, and so he hides from them by always remaining transformed. When he finally has to confront Koji, it isn't just being reminded that he has a brother, he finally sees his own human face again, because they're twins.
Koichi is the first kid to officially switch sides, but soon after, the others all join the rest of the Digi-Destined as well, and their Spirit Forms gain new appearances now that they aren't being influenced by the evil side of CherubiMon. Now, there is a whole team of 10 children with the power to become the Legendary Warriors! I also just think it would be a cool angle to have "villain" Digi-Destined~

Cyber Sleuth AU for 02 kids
If you know me, you would remember i'm more like a "Walking AU Machine" and instead of making OCs for the things i like... I just throw Daisuke & co. into those universes to see how they would handle them.
[SPOILER-FREE BTW!!]
I’m copy + pasting from my twt thread.
※ temp art for the post, he does not look wear Aiba protag outfit, ok?
Daisuke, Ken, Miyako, Takeru, Hikari and Wallace are from the same high school, but NOT from the one Aiba/Keisuke are.
Do not ask about why Wallace is here, i just can't leave him out. I'm pretty much Wallace brain rot right now.
Miyako is secretly a hacker, while the rest not.
Daisuke accidentally get taken by an Eater like Aiba protag, but just like Aiba he manages to become a "digital being" and Miyako helps him to find data to build a body. Like Aiba, yeah. Then this group of teenagers decide to investigate this peculiar critters to bring Daisuke back, so they casually meets Kyoko and the CS cast.
They solve things together sometimes, but their focus is just helping Daisuke, of course.
The 02 group got their respective digimon (yes Wallace got two again because he can) though Daisuke has befriended a ton of digimon. Yet his main partner is V-mon.
Mirei finds interesting this version of those kids, because she's aware about their 02 (canon) counterparts lol.
Oh yeah, Iori is just a middle schooler who works as everyone's "voice of reason" and he vaguely remember of his late father knowing Matayoshi.
(why? because i like Matayoshi so much. He and Hiroki would've been good friends imo)
The 02 group has actually no official "headquarters", so they keep using the computer room from their HS for this. And sometimes they have to use the bedroom for one of their members instead.
But y'know, Miyako being part of the Computer Club helps them a lot.
They do not want to mess with the business of the other hacker teams (Hudie, Zaxon, Rebellion/Rebels, Jude, Demons, etc) but they somehow follow Nokia's philosophy about considering the digimon more than hacker tools.
So they fight evil hackers hurting the digi for Mirei lol
Hikari heard of the rumors of the ghost boy wandering in Kowloon and keeps trying to catch a cool picture of him. Ken is also so interested on this mysterious boy that he goes investigating it.
However, Daisuke hates ghosts. Especially because Ghost Boy = Eaters around.
When the other six discovered Miyako was actually a legit hacker, they asked her why and she just "Idk i thought it could be useful someday" "Oh..."
Takeru: So Daisuke-kun, since you can become invisible... Daisuke: No. I won't help you to prank Yamato-san. • •
Ken: ... How do you feel? Daisuke: Ken: I'm serious, do you feel something? Daisuke: It's hard to explain... I feel nothing, but i can taste the food. Wallace: How!? Aren't you made of data now? Daisuke: [shrugs] At least i can't die by Kuremi-san's coffee blends. Them: Lucky you • • •
Daisuke: We need a group name if we're hackers now! Ken: I don't think we need a name though. Daisuke: How about... Them: No. Daisuke: But-- Hikari: Please, no names. Daisuke: Okay 😔😭 • • •
Btw, evolution chart:
V-mon → XV-mon → Wingdramon → UlforceV-dramon
Wormmon → Stingmon → Okuwamon → GranKuwagamon
Hawkmon → Aquilamon → Hippogriffomon → Valdurmon
Armadimon → Ankylomon → Groundmon → Cannondramon*
* I know this line is not present in the games, and i don't like the options in-game 😔
Patamon → Angemon → HolyAngemon → Seraphimon
Tailmon → Angewomon → Holydramon
Terriermon → Gargomon → Rapidmon (perf.) → SaintGalgomon
Lopmon → Turuiemon → Antylamon (deva) → Cherubimon (virtue)
That’s all for now folks ✨

Hello! Since you seem to be getting a lot of character comparison asks, I figured I’d ask if you have any thoughts on the similarities and differences between Ken and Koichi, and also their relationship with darkness? At first glance they seem very similar but I feel the way they view darkness- and perhaps the darker parts of themselves- differs quite a bit.
The two of them definitely have similar base profiles at first, but start to really veer off in different directions after that!
I think the one thing that's most different between the two is that, quite simply, their "base personalities" -- that is, how they act in normal situations separated from all the stuff going on with Digimon fighting -- are actually fairly different to begin with. One thing that might surprise people is that Kouichi actually uses the more assertive/aggressive pronoun ore, contrary to what his supposedly “shy” personality might suggest (of the Frontier boys, only Tomoki uses the more polite boku, and I think it’s in line with Frontier generally portraying its kids as less naturally well-behaved and a bit more misfit). Kouichi’s “shyness” in Frontier is really implied to just be out of the circumstances of him being a bit awkward around the kids he’d been fighting for a period, and especially not sure how to approach Kouji, but Things I Want to Tell You implies that he’d actually had a full-on social friend circle (mentioning friends at school and playing soccer). The only part that made him “out of place” like the other Frontier kids was really the part right before the series, when he learned he’d had a brother, had to question what that implied, started fostering feelings of jealousy towards him, and ended up “passed over” for being chosen instead of how Kouji was, but for the most part his personality doesn’t seem to be that fundamentally different from Kouji’s (there's a point made in a scene in Frontier episode 40 where the twins are looking at Takuya with nearly the exact same expression).
Ken, on the other hand, does use the polite pronoun boku, and although he’s still a fairly casual person (his speech pattern is slightly more casual than Takeru’s), he is kind of...a polite nerd, for lack of a better way to put it. That penchant for intellectuality wasn’t entirely the Dark Seed’s doing -- he’s gone on infamous “trivial fact” spiels like about the origin of Christmas or Japanese hot springs. In contrast to the more easygoing Daisuke, he takes things really seriously, and one could describe him as “so overly serious about things he sometimes rolls into stupid”. He’s also rather tidy (he puts his chopsticks neatly on the bowl when eating, his Digital World outfit is his school uniform, he’s constantly tucking in both his summer and winter blouses, and even his Kizuna outfits are slightly formal), and because he does seem to carry himself softly, he has a stronger image of being a “nice and polite person” who doesn’t act roughly by default. Less so because he can’t be rough or aggressive, but more because he doesn’t want to be -- you can think of him as basically holding back his cards until the time is right or stronger force is called for (meaning he can seem mild-mannered, until he suddenly drops some sassy zingers right when you least expect it).
There are some similarities that go beyond their base profiles; it’s interesting how “jealousy” seems to be part of both of their initial motivations (and, in an interesting meta twist, one of the original ideas for Ken and Osamu was for them to be twins). However, as you said, they have a somewhat differing attitude in terms of what “darkness” is, and a lot of it has to do with a combination of what that even means in Adventure/02′s narrative versus Frontier’s, and what that meant to each of them personally. Ken had an outright self-inflicted identity crisis and an awareness that his fall came from his own personal vices, and the issue is casted in Adventure/02 as a problem of “balance”; Ken himself understands in 02 episode 23 that he has to accept everything in himself, and Takeru reminds him in 02 episode 37 that you can’t eradicate it entirely, but Ken of course retains an aversion to contexts where they’re obviously too much in excess. Kouichi, on the other hand, was probably not going to have a complete emotional meltdown to that degree had it not been for Cherubimon’s interference (although he still wasn’t necessarily having a great time), so being free from that influence means that, with his head cleared, he’s able to confidently deny going back there again and have faith in his ability to use it for good, especially because the part keeping it balanced -- his brother Kouji, as the light -- is able to be there and fight alongside him. His problem was addressed by learning to work alongside and get to know said brother, instead of living in jealousy of him.
It’s also interesting to see how their future plans end up going, since we now have “distant future” canon material for both 02 and Frontier; Ken had “expectations” put on him to the point it practically ripped him apart and gave him an outright identity crisis, so his future involves him allowing himself to not have to live to expectations nearly as much; by the time of Kizuna, he’s still dabbling in soccer and various hobbies and being chaotic with his friends, his “psychology” degree is not even mentioned anywhere except in his official profiles because of how much it’s a comparative non-issue in his life at the moment, and while he’s certainly still selfless, he’s still at the point where being able to just enjoy life as it is at all is a big deal. Even if he hasn’t found a goal in life to completely commit to yet, at the very least, he has the other members of the 02 group to support him, and it’s still important that he’s dedicating his efforts to supporting them in turn. Kouichi, on the other hand, didn’t have to worry about that kind of identity crisis, but he did have to worry about seeing his mother’s selfless streak meaning she was constantly ruining her health for others -- so, having taken on some of that selflessness, he’s decided to single-mindedly pursue a dream of going to medical school to help his mother. Keep in mind that he arguably has an even higher hurdle than our other single-minded prospective doctor, Kido Jou, because unlike the Kido family’s existing esteemed line, Kouichi’s not-exactly-well-to-do background means he’d had to scrounge up funds by being a paper boy while he was at it -- so that’s a pretty big uphill battle he’s taking, but he’s doing it because he knows that’s what he wants, and he also has his brother properly keeping up with him, and in touch with both him and his family situation.

Frontier Fest Days 15 - 20
Entries for April 21-26 under the cut!
April 21: Favourite Detail from the Drama CD
I didn’t listen to it, but I’ve read the translations, and in general I find it really cool how the kids have grown up and started figuring out their paths! (Toei pls give us official timeskip art)
April 22: Favourite Relationship
Definitely the twins. It was THE plot twist of the century, finding out that hey, Kouji has a TWIN BROTHER???????????? And them basically trying to figure out how to navigate this very new path, especially since Kouichi was trying to murder everyone like five minutes ago. But in the final arcs you see them getting more and more comfortable around each other, talking to each other and getting to know their respective families. My personal favourite scene is when they’re repairing the road and Kouichi helps Kouji lift some heavy stuff. It was so adorable!
April 23: Any (Romantic) Ships?
A. Nope.
B. Listen, I had the world’s biggest crush on Kouji for the better part of a decade, I’m hardly likely to ship him with anybody else.
April 24: Further Development Wishes
Lots!
1. As most others have said, the Izumi-Junpei-Tomoki trinity. After a point they did get shunted to the side, with the exception of Tomoki running into his bullies. There was a lot of potential there, and other blogs have expressed it better than I can.
2. Cherubimon’s manipulation by Lucemon. How did it get to that point that he was in such a vulnerable state?
April 25: Headcanons/AUs
3. Related to the above point, the timeline of the battle between Lucemon and the Legendary Warriors. How long has it been since then? How long were Seraphimon, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon ruling the Digital World? And how long were Cherubimon and his Evil Warriors running amok before our heroes arrived?
4. How did the kids know how to use their attacks the first time they evolved? I mean, the average age here is TEN. Junpei's dancing around in Episode 5 is the most realistic reaction to getting your spirit lol.
I like to headcanon that some years after the main story, Kouji has a little half-sister from his dad’s second marriage. Idk why, I think it’s just a cute idea!
April 26: Fanartist/Author Recommendations?
So I was never really into the fandom until recently, but I remember encountering some AMAZING content on this website called digimonspirit[.]net. There was one fanfic about Kouichi recovering in the hospital, and him processing the whole adventure. I really liked that one!
Stay tuned for April 27, when I’ll be posting excerpts from my undergraduate thesis that refer to and analyze Frontier!

Quick aside but for whatever reason Cherubimon Virtue looks WAY better on-screen than in his official art. I can’t quite explain it but he appeals to me way more. And that’s great because the Lopmon line is my personal favorite but ive always been mid on him!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YELLS IN RAINBOW DIGICODE! everything is so pretty in the reboot I don’t even mind the evolution sequences anymore.
I wasn’t able to watch episode 5 and 6 until yesterday, and I’m sO HYPED for the 2020 adventure timeline now! I loved how they introduced us to some of the lore of this universe and a prophecy (the pastel rainbow + greek architecture imagery of the temple had me shaking) right away, and it’s interesting that in this incarnation our dear mons apparently have memories of a mysterious past and a war they fought in. I don’t think it’s connected to the pre-reboot timeline or kizuna or anything, fortunately. I want to see this becoming its own thing.
Valdurmon is our big rainbow bird and so far they’ve been fulfilling the role of Gennai explaining stuff. Aldurmon is majestic. I love them. Where’s Gennai. I also love Gennai.
also UHMMMMMM there were six eggs.
CONCERN.
Seraphimon and Ophanimon did appear, though. They were alongside Cherubimon (!!!!!) and some other powerful mons I couldn’t make out (MEICOOMON?!!?)
so I think we only see six eggs because the six mons of the older kids were ‘regular’ mons who fought Devimon/Apocalymon/all the evil incarnate in the old days, and Hikari’s Tailmon and Takeru’s Patamon are the reincarnations of two of the sacred mons; namely, two of the Three Archangels. So I wonder if we’ll also meet a Lopmon? Like in Frontier. But obviously there were more than three (again: MEICOOMON?!!?), so. I have no idea — perhaps by “Sacred Digimon,” Valdurmon meant the Three Archangels + those new ones. What kind of insane powers will Takeru and Hikari have now? Much doubt, much excitement.
(I apologize if someone already put it like this, I haven’t gotten around to read many reviews.)
We have the little bat thingies acting like Devimon’s rings. (Edit: I meant gears, not rings. I just turned Devimon into Ken.) We have Ogremon fully operating on pissed off & existencial crisis mode, not a Leomon in sight. But I have faith. Devimon’s abs are much more defined now, and I am a pervert apparently. Sue me, he’s hot.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Mimi’s episode has been my favorite so far!!!!!!!!! Her characterization is spot on! They managed to balance out her being a little brat and extremely sweet so well. I was worried they’d go too deep too fast into the spoiled princess archetype and have her come off as way more insensitive than she is, poor kid. And GRANDPA? WE'VE BEEN BLESSED WITH MORE TACHIKAWAS?! ;;also, Taichi and Sora immediately recognized the kindness inside her. Taichi played along with her kingdom and even called her queen, I love my boy. Then Mimi called her new supportive friends servants #72 and #73. God tier group dynamic right here.
I am living for the glitchy aesthetic of this anime. Seriously. Sometimes at the corner of the screen you can see the Digital World glitching a bit and it’s honestly so satisfying. I am pleased.
Palmon’s data almost vanishing out of existence was less pleasant to watch, but it was pretty nonetheless. So it’s fine.
It’s amazing how Mimi and Palmon already saw I love you to each other — and don’t you think I didn’t see Sora blushing at the open display of affection. This had me intrigued. So far Sora has been lovely, and don’t get me wrong — she is baby —, but I’m missing my emotionally constipated girl who couldn’t stand Piyomon doting on her when they met, lmao. Hopefully, we’ll get a closer look at their relationship soon. As for Koushiro, it was so cute his little moment with Kabuterimon. “Oh I think I came to this world to meet you. [heart emoji]” “Sorry could you repeat that Koushiro-han.” “REPEAT WHAT?”
Next time (tomorrow!) THAT BOI IS JYOU KIDO! Personally, I think Jyou and Gomamon’s dynamic is the more unique of the group — you gotta get the teasing and the banter right! —, and my favorite, so it’s the one I’m anticipating the most (alongside Hikari and Tailmon’s, because that’s just who I am, fundamentally, as a person.) Since Yamato already debuted and Gabumon evolved pre-canon, I’m assuming we’ll see him again right after Jyou, but instead of a shinka episode we’ll probably get some backstory? [eyes emoji]
Now that I’m too attached, I’m officially moving on from calling the reboot Digimon Adventure Psi. I’ll be using Digimon Adventure 2020 (and #da: spoilers) from now on. Thank you for coming to my DigiTalk.

“I thought that I could love you all, but if this is how you all truly feel, then I will show you your efforts are futile.”
The short explanation is that Book 4 went very, very differently for my summoners than canon, mostly for the sheer amount of toys the summoners brought to the table that left Book 4 heavily changed even after its official realization and conclusion.
The long explanation for the context to this point in particular: Sparrow, for some time, had been working on training a select number of digimon to establish her own version of the Royal Knights to protect Askr with (especially when compared to Erin’s Askr, where the majority of the other summoners are, she wanted to improve manpower without always dragging them into her messes). Having poured careful research to try to steer clear from the pitfalls past iterations of the Royal Knights fell to, her efforts were partially realized around Book 4′s time with certain digimon achieving their final forms, even if not quite all of them just yet.
One of them, Cherubimon, was among the digimon to be fully realized, but was also the one Sparrow was the most concerned about, given its reputation with or without interference from other digimon groups. To her horror, Cherubimon digivolved into its darker variant as she was about to go into direct combat with Freyja, but as Sparrow’s supports were quick to notice, Cherubimon only ever focused her wrath primarily on the alfr, and not on destruction in general. It was due to resonating with Triandra and Plumeria’s fears and recently-reopened traumas that she reacted in love for them and heavy worry for their well-being, turning her into her viral variant more out of overprotection than truly turning corrupt.
She was still within reason that before she could’ve finished Freyja off, Ephrel intervened and stopped the battle, allowing them and Freyr to better reason with a now-too-weak-to-attack Freyja to sort their differences and talk. Cherubimon, meanwhile, calmed enough to revert to its more passive and calming variant, now that she was certain Freyja wasn’t about to attack again.
Along with Cherubimon bonding with the alfr, especially the dokkalfar, Triandra and Plumeria also had a shiny audino Kyo caught and gave them, whom they bonded with and sought comfort from as a sort of service mon to help them through recovery. The uncanny resemblance between both Audino and Cherubimon didn’t go past their notice, especially when Audino eventually learned to mega evolve for much similar reasons as Cherubimon.

Digimon Adventure: Review
Episode 5: The Holy Digimon
I was genuinely expecting to be a little disappointed with this episode, but it did mostly manage to avoid the pitfalls I was expecting. The upped tempo of the series compared to the original somewhat worked in its favour with the lore only taking up the first half, leaving Koushiro and Tentomon to shine in the second.
Spoilers below:
I’m not quite sure where Seraphimon’s statue is in relation to these three, but it isn’t shown again, so I’m going to assume it’s opposite Valdurmon. We can also see Ophanimon on the left and Kerpymon on the right, so either there is another temple with statues of the other holy digimon or they’ve been destroyed (I’m going for the latter). Also, count how many times this shot get used in the episode (it’s a lot).
I really like the digitised shapes in Whamon. There have been a lot of little extras in the animation to remind us how different the Digital World is from our own and I’m here for it. Probably one of my favourite things about the art. Also, although it may get annoying eventually, I’m glad they’re showing the main digimon’s names more than once. It’s a large cast, and learning unfamiliar names may put some people off, so I appreciate the extra effort.
We’re introduced to the seven holy digimon: Valdurmon, Cherubimon, Seraphimon, Ophanimon, SlashAngemon, ClavisAngemon, and Rasielmon. It’s also clear that not only have the digimon lost their memories of the past, but Agumon can’t even remember becoming Omegamon when fighting with Taichi. It’s an interesting mystery and again hints that Omegamon was a one-off for this early in the series. Although expected, it’s also a bit of a relief, since it means that the narrative won’t need to keep separating Taichi and Yamato just to keep Omegamon away.
I admit I had to re-watch Koushiro’s explanation a few times, but it seems that the power stations’ severs are corrupted and therefore have cut power to certain locations. However, they can’t just reboot the stations because the power won’t turn off. I mentioned it in an earlier review, but again it seems the showrunners have taken a real phenomenon (the effects of an extreme solar event) and adapted it to fit the narrative. The fact that the Internet is unaffected will likely play a role later in the series.
Interestingly, we’re introduced to Ogremon, but the children still don’t know about him. I’m guessing he’ll make his appearance in the next episode, but it’s a nice, simple way of dialling up the tension.
One thing I liked in the original series, was how the digimon explained the different behaviours of different species. Of course, mostly it was them reassuring the Chosen that ‘x’ digimon wouldn’t attack them just before it did, but it was a good way of telling the viewers how the different species of digimon live. Piyomon’s observation of Dokugumon’s behaviour is a great example of this being taken forward into the new series and I’m all here for it.
I know Tentomon couldn’t carry Koushiro in the old series, but I’m wondering how much this is possible just because gravity doesn’t seem to apply in the Network. I love the way Tentomon zips around and it seems the animation quality has improved again. Which makes me more sad for the last episode, but I guess it can’t be helped. Koushiro is a sweetie and gets Tentomon to create an opportunity for Whamon to escape. I wonder if that means they’ll see Whamon again, or whether I’m reading a little too much into this scene.
The Soundbirdmon are an cool addition and seem to have taken the place of the black gears. Kinda cool that it was designed by a fan.
The evolution is really inconsistent. I’m not sure how I feel about only Agumon having an official evolution sequence. I’m glad that they’re not showing all of them because that would take up a lot of time, but because of that I felt the Agumon evolution dragged on too long. I’d be interested to know what others think about it.
Seems Koushiro and Kabuterimon are making their way to the Digital World. Kinda curious how they’re going to stop the blackout though, since the holy digimon basically confirmed the Network is what affects the human world.
And just when we think the episode is finished, look who it is! Guess we’ll be properly introduced to Mimi before Jou after all.
Final Thoughts:
I enjoyed this episode more than I thought I would. It was kinda nice seeing Koushiro and Tentomon fighting alone as we didn’t see it much in the original series. The characters’ reactions still all feel a bit same-y for me and I didn’t think I learnt anything really new about their personalities (except a possible hint that Kourshiro is awkward showing affection?). I’m willing to be patient for that though, so I wouldn’t necessarily call it a criticism.

10 Quick Tips About digimon world 4 rom
Long before the children were able to travel to the Digital World, Valdurmon— alongside a fleet of classic angelic Digimon, like Cherubimon, Ophanimon, and Seraphimon—waged war against the forces of darkness with the help of a group of specially chosen Digimon, presented in a vision to Taichi and Sora as shadows of what are clearly the mega forms of Digimon Adventures' partner monsters. Much to the children's surprise, when they approach the feather, it begins to transform into a winged Digimon called Valdurmon that neither the humans nor their partners recognize, but viewers might recall from the divine bird's appearances in various Digimon video games.
While the reboot's yet to fully introduce all of its important characters, it's already teased out a number of developments that didn't pop up in the original until much, much later episodes and films in the series—like the process through which Digimon can fuse together in order to evolve, and how, in the right circumstances, a Digimon's actions in the digital world could have a serious, devastating impact on the real world. Back to the present, since the first Digimon World game there were a variety of other Digimon games released by Bandai to compete with the growing sensation of the Pokemon franchise.
Unlike the Tamagotchi the game had a story, mainly revolving around repopulating a town of Digimon. The game also returns to more open style of battle, where your Digimon roam the battlefield after encountering an enemy and it's your job to give them commands in regards of what to do in the battle. In short, you have to train your Digimon to have their stats at a certain level in order to digivolve into the Digimon you want by the time they reach a certain age.

How do you think Episodes 15, 16, and 26 would go if a.) Chiaki had been a protagonist (and the Warrior of Water) and Kazemon had been one of Cherubimon's goons or b.) Calmaramon had been the beautiful Beast Spirit and Zephyrmon had been the ugly one?
I mean, it kinda would just be the same, but with the characters reversed... we didn't get to know Chiaki very well, since she was originally a side-character and not an official Digidestined. I kinda wish that BOTH of the Water and Wind spirits had intimidating beast forms (not exactly "ugly", but not so humanoid; Zephyrmon was basically a lady in underwear with bird wings and robot arms, and Calmaramon had a human torso with a lower giant squid body... they both should have turned into cool monsters, thank you). It definitely would have sent a different message if the two forms of the Beast Psirits didn't have their value and view of "good/evil" based on how "beautiful" they were. So if I had to pick, I would prefer a scenario where Calmaramon mocks Zephyrmon for not being as pretty, and then Zephyrmon defeats her because she's simply stronger (more of a "real beauty on the inside" message). But yeah... my main hope would be all of the Beast forms actually LOOKING like beasts, instead of the girls being half-naked ladies... and it would've been cool if, after defeating the evil Digimon working for Cherubimon, the main Digidestined met other kids who are supposed to be the rest of the Guardians. Then, maybe Chiaki could have been the Guardian of Water~
